This pathetic franchise has the worst of all three components necessary for a successful team: ownership, general management and coaching.

This owner gave a 130 million contract to a degenerate thug who could only run fast and throw a long, tight spiral and ignored the professional and personal weaknesses what any person with a triple digit could easily predict. The VP and general manager has drafted the worst talent in the league for years and then made some of the dumbest trades this past year (Schaub). The coach allows the team to trade Rossum and sign a kicker who no one else wanted while letting a proven kicker walk. The results? Jamal Anderson hasn’t been heard from in two games, dropped catches by Jenkins, no returns and missed field goals.

Why would anyone with anything else to do next Sunday want to fight the traffic and deal with Atlanta trash around the Georgia Dome just to watch this collective group of idiots imitate an NFL Franchise?

Well,

There’s the Falcons!

I mean, that they have the most creativity in losing. The O-line did OK, this time. As a matter of fact, they did pretty good. (Picking up the blitz is the RBs’ responsibility.)

Harrington’s stats looks OK. (12-20 200 yards, no INTs.)

And Roddy White had a pretty good game. Oh, and the Falcons’ defense held the Jaguars to only 14 points.

But,

There were two missed field goals from a kicker that no one even knew about. I personally felt sorry for the kid, because he looked so sorry.

Oh, and the sacks were atrocious! Harrington held on to the ball for too long.

THe bottom line is this:

In order for the Falcons to win a single game this year, we must find a kicker and we must have a QB with some mobility tp elude tacklers.

I just can’t understand why we don’t have a kicker that can hit a 26 yard chip shot. Defense played a good game and deserved better. I truly feel offense will get better as season goes along (if Harrington can survive ). Time to start looking at bringing in a quarterback to learn system by the 6th or 7th game. I just don’t have high expectations for the Falcons this year, so I am really not that p-ssed. Hope they continue to get better.

I really question whether this coaching staff knows how to evaluate talent.

The fullback they drafted to open up holes doesn’t appear to be doing so and Prater must go.

Some positives: Roddy White and the running backs staring to open things in the second half.

Some negatives: CB Sanders and Joey H unable to get the ball out in time and Petrino’s inability to stifle the pass rush.

This franchise is a absolute joke. Im not going to any games this year, why should i pay over a 70 bucks to see this pathetic bunch of girls get their asses plowed again. i bet there will be about 40,0000 fans to start the game,most of those free tickets handed out to the home depot employees who were also promised a days pay to attend the game.by the mid second quarter about 15,000 remain when carolina has us down by 28.I blame Auther blank for giving that idiot 130 mil for seriously a very average QB season. Who’s bright idea was it to cut Billy Cundiff for this kid? There’s too many kickers out there (Vanderjagt anyone?) for us to put up with a kid that looks like he came out of the stands in one of those kicking contests they have at halftime.

The falcons got to do a better job in making plays,picking up the blitzes,special team and every thing else.Abraham and Roddy did play some good ball.The whole team has to step up and do what they got to do to win.They falcons will have a long and hard season in getting a Vick ory.I would have been nice to see MV7 playing this year with Petrino and the nice birds.I haven’t seen the dirty bird at all.

It’s sad that people still won’t admit what MV7 did for this very bad team. That’s the same oline that he worked with for years. And Schaub did ok. But his numbers are about the same as Joey’s. 34 pts, 228 yds, 1 td. It’s safe to say that was rushing and defense. Last week Schaub had about the same numbers(21 pts, 1 td, 1 int, 200 yds, 1 defensive td). He probably would have been in the same situation. This team has serious problems and MV7 wasn’t one of them.

Harrington may be an effecient passer but he does not throw the ball when he is pressured. Why have we not got Leftwich? Petrino will be back in college next year. What some fans must understand is some coaches are not as good at developing talent which the Falcons have always had problems except for Dan Reeves. Even Joey H. himself was part of the wrong team for years. The Falcons need to start-over with young players just like San Fan.and Chicago.

I think the O-line didn’t do that badly today. If Schaub was here, I think we would have won the game. If Vick was here, we would have won that game. The problem is that the blitz wasn’t picked up (and that’s an RB responsibility) and that Harrington held the ball too long. His presence in the pocket is terrible.

There’s a problem in the front office of this franchise. To wit, trade away Schaub only to see the “face of the franchise” indicted on felony charges to which he subsequently pled guilty. Cut Cundiff in favor of Prater. No improvements to a horrible offensive line in the off-season. Wasted high round draft choices - Jenkins, White, etc. This season is starting to look like one that could be very miserable, even by Falcon standards. The team is a mess. Somebody push the undo button quick.

The Offensive Line gave up Seven Sacks but they protected well for the most part. Harrington had time to pass on almost every play in which the Jaguars didn’t Blitz. Harrington needs to make quicker decisions, what’s frustrating is seeing how well Schaub is playing for the Texans. At the same time why did we bring in Prater? He’s the worst kicker I’ve ever seen, he needs to be cut immediately. These two moves are on McKay in my opinion, who seems to get a pass. The defense has looked very good for the most part, especially Abraham. Unfortunately we’re abysmal at the QB position and our offense reminds me of Chris Simms and the Bucs or Carr & The Texans offense the past few seasons. Very stagnant, basic… this team needs a QB bad. I don’t see why we didn’t try to get Culpepper or even Leftwich. You can’t expect Petrino to be a miracle worker with Harrington.

I like mr. blank…we actually have a owner who cares about this city and team and as fans we cant ask for anything more! Now Mckay… .i liked his moves a few years back bringing in abraham and gandy. But man did we make some bad moves in the offseason. I never really understood why we couldnt take Amobi Okoye at #10 and hold onto Schuab. And why in the world did we not bring back morten anderson?? FIRE MCKAY!!
I think its in our best interest to loose as many games possible for the higher 1st/2nd round pick! I say we take a O lineman with our first pick and a QB with our 2nd. Maybe we can do like the Browns did and take someone who falls like Quinn with our 2nd pick.

You guys are so quick to criticize. The best our $130 million quarterback could produce over the past two seasons was 15-17. The key numbers are 17 losses over two years. Give these guys a chance to get it together and, hopefully, when the outlandish salary cap situation is resolved, we can pick up some quality players to fill the gaps. In the meantime, dry up!

Yep, Matt Schaub finally got his shot, and he finally proved he could do it in the regular season… Good for him. I always thought he could, I just felt we were jumping the gun for those who saw him as the starter. After all, Doug Johnson was great in the preseason back then…

BUT let’s not take the hindsight thing too seriously. At the time, the dogfighting thing was just a gleam in the eye of some extremists, no real proof, no information, just another one of those Vick allegations that had always, in the past, been empty beyond talk radio and biased, usually semi-informed fans.

This was their last chance to get anything out of Matt Schaub, a popular name that had in reality proven nothing… Next year, he’d be gone, and we get no benefit from having had him.

Of course, if the feds had gone in by then, we don’t trade Schaub. But we had no choice at the time.

Most games the rest of the team wouldn’t show up. Nobody’s blasting the rest of the guys for not blocking or catching. Admit it. He had to throw, catch and run the ball, then score and come back to the sideline to pass out gatorade. I’d say he earned his $130 mil. Trust me, he’ll be back. Maybe not with the Falcons, but if not, I hope he comes back blacker, mad, seeing purple and beats the hell out of whomever the first opponent is. If against us, I definetly hope he whips our butts.

They are 26-22 the last three and Vick is 26-20 because two of those losses are Schaub’s. But the Falcons alltime franchise history AVERAGES LOSING 10 games a year so y’all are used to losing, don’t act like its new and don’t keep hanging on that last 2 years crap. The suckky Falcons have been to the NFC Championship game 2 tiems ever, one is Vick’s. They have ONLY 7 playoff appearances in 41 years, 2 of those are under Vick. They have less than 9 playoff victories. 2 of those are Vick’s. This is a losing franchise that let go Brett Farve for a couple of nothing draft choices, and now has traded a future star QB that is now turning around another losing franchise in Texas…like Favre did in Green Bay. The Falcons also let Dion Sanders walk for nothing. What a franchise!

For anyone who is asking the choice of kicker was made by the great and wonderful Bobby Petrino. Do you really believe otherwise. HC always has last say on who goes and who stays. He has in two weeks proven what some people said from day one College coachs can’t make it in the NFL. Yeah Joey needs to get rid of the ball faster but Petrino wanted the big o-line and we can all see how well that has worked so far. Him and his Offense Head coach would not know how to make adjustments to their game plan if their life depended on it. Arthur B has totally lost control of this team and its sad. At one time he wanted to build a winner but since he started listening to McKay he couldn’t build anything with legos. Time to have a clearence sale get rid of MaKay, Petrino and his coaching staff. Make them take the water boy too.

Harrington was signed to back up Michael Vick at QB. Big difference if your signed to start at QB or signed to backup your starting QB in the NFL. Also, most of the winter and spring reps were taken by our so-called starting QB, which was not Harrington, teaching the new system. I don’t think anybody on this blog thought Harrington at time of signing would be our teams starting “quarterback” for the upcoming season. He’s done as well as any backup QB could expect under the situation. He didn’t come to ATL to be the starting QB.

Hey Jay Blackboy, MV7-3897621 is a convicted felon and he’s going to spend a long time in prison for his organized criminal activities. He won’t be playing in the NFL again. So, give it up Stupid! Vick led the Falcons to a losing season last year and to a five hundred season the year before. Nothing great about that! The Falcons, much like when Dan Reeves took over, are going through a transitional phase. They’ll be a much better team over the next two seasons. Furthermore, if Vick would have been honest about his situation in Jan or Feb, we would have kept Schaub and resigned Kerney and then drafted a lineman to protect our QB. Cut Vick and still signed Harrington to be a BACKUP “QUARTERBACK” and had alittle more cap room this year to add additonal players, like a kicker. Its amazing what honestly and character can do for situations.

You all can’t expect the Falcons to do well this year. Anyone who had different expectations are/were living in a dreamland. You have a new coach and new system , new personnel that need time to gel. For all those that say that getting rid of Schaub was a mistake, please realize this one fact…Schaub has a line now…Atlanta hasn’t had a line for a long time. Even when Schaub did get in the game while he was in Atlanta, the line failed him too(remember?). Before I say that Schaub is the second coming, I will wait to see how he and his team does over the course of this season and beyond. Remember the Saints? Everyone heaped all of this praise on them last year because they looked so polished. Well, how are they doing now? There are only about 4 teams in the NFL that have shown that they have what it takes to be consistently productive. One of them is suspect (due to cheating…Patriots).

So what I’m saying is give the coach and the system time and we will see where it goes. This is a new beginning and it may take a season like this to get us to where we need to be.

I will say this in closing. I would hate to have some of you guys as my parents, coach or friend. Some of you are soooo negative and your lives must be filled with gloom.

First I am a VICK fan and became a Falcon fan because of him. People on here saying letting Schaub go was crazy I say to you, YOU’RE ARE CRAZY! Clearly trading him was the best thing for him and the team. Every 2nd string and higher person wants to be a starter. If thats not your goal we do not need you on our team. My beef is NOW others see that the offensive line was not protecting the quarterback that well and NOW they want to complain. Whereas last season it was all Vick’s fault. He shouldn’t scramble, he needs to drop back and pass. Joey does that and still can not get us in the Red Zone. I am missing Vick not only for his playing ability but for his excitement. I too am a season ticket holder and really do not want to go the Dome this year, because there is no excitement with this team. The two games played I have fell asleep at halftime because they are boring. Vick and the guys made the game exciting this group without Vick does not do that. Call it whatever you want, he is missed in more ways than one.

The Falcons really need Vick! Whether anyone likes that or not! I feel the case against Vick was so over blown! Actually, the dogs were not worthless. Vick bought them, trained, and fed them. The food bill was three thousand a month. Vet medicine and visits was expensive too. I must admit it is very difficult and just embarrassing to read some of stuff written here. I am originally from Atlanta and has watch the Falcons since the days of Randy Johnson, Bob Lee, Steve Bartkowski etc … At best we have had more valleys than peaks, but the racist commits listed on this blog is simply embarrassing. As a US Marine for the past 25 years and a person who is proud to be from Atlanta, and supports this team as a season ticket holder traveling from Washington DC for every home game that I am able to attend for the past 5 years to read the entries on this blog makes me cringe. Being away from Atlanta for so long and getting a different look at how others from the north or west view people from the south, this stuff here makes a lot of their views look valid. Look we are all frustrated with Falcons regardless who is coaching, playing Quarterback, who is the GM. It is simply a bad time when there was so much promise that a change would give this team a better chance to win. There is enough blame to go around, Drafting of players (GM) Signing of Free Agents (GM) player development (Coaching) evaluating players (Coaching), Players making themselves better, Poor Management decisions (Owner)Firing a coach (Reeves) at the wrong time (Owner). And last but not least, Players, Players …Did Mike Vick hurt this team? Yes …Has he not laid it out and took a beating since starting for this team? YES! Like or hate him for his play on the field, he made was a large part of why the Falcons were entertaining to watch. So people from Atlanta lets show the country that we do have class and not clouded by the racist comments that have weighed heavy on this site. Trust me, after surviving attacks of suicide bombings, Explosive devices, etc … there is enough cruelty going outside of our borders to still have this kind of mentality so alive today.

They need to sign leftwich imediately, call back morten anderson, start Houston or williams at corner and Irons at safety, They need to learn that O-Line to pass block, We need a big back for the goal line and short yardage like a TJ duckett. I do NOT Believe for a minute we MISS Mike Vick……… had Mike Vick been a stand up guy, he would NOT be heading to jail.

How about Morton Anderson, that is a guy we currently miss……..

We could have been in a closer game, and perhaps an overtime win with a filed goal kicker with the right stuff.

Being 1-1 would have been like allot of teams so far, and we could have had something to be excited about.

The D is doing a good job, now time for the O to do better.

This team is MORE like a Pro Football team today, and at least we do NOT have A QB who quits on his team mates !!!!!!

Will all you people stop making excuses for Harrington. He is single handily take the air out of this team. The offensive line did not play as bad as the 7 sacks that occured. we can point fingers in every direction, but bottom line losing Matt S. is just the icing on the cake, and oh we play against him and the Texans in two weeks. Ownership had to have some clue that as great and mobile Vick was, his injury chances were 10 fold running around the field as he did and to have a quality-starter QB backing him up was a huge insurance policy. Now, letting him go (or trading) to save some money short term vs taking your chances on what we had then and now what we are faced with? The birds have an uphill battle all season.
