No more games that don’t count

Good finish to the preseason even though the starters were on the sideline. A win in preseason doesn’t matter much, but maybe it will help with the confidence level. Can’t hurt to have a pick-me-up before the season starts.

Time to see what Harrington is about and if he has what it takes to lead this team. He disappointed a lot of people in Detroit. I think he has what it takes, but it’s a tough situation to step into. This guy was picked up to be a backup, not a starter.

Jason Snelling and Adam Jennings have had a good preseason. Joe Horn was too quiet. I was excited when I heard we got him. Goodness knows, he burned our defense too many times to count. Now it’s time he brings it here.

Jamaal Anderson and Jimmy Williams were impressive on defense. Can’t wait to see Abraham healthy. He was the biggest playmaker when’s he’s healthy, but he has to stay healthy.

Can’t wait to see everyone back on the field.

Go Falcons!

We have upgraded at the QB position. The Falcons were the only team in the league last year who didnt allow the QB to audible at the line of scrimage. The focus now will be on the team and not one in individual.

Harrington has the ability to be an excellent quarterback. He has an excellent arm. He will get the ball to the receivers. The big question, the same as last year, is will they catch the ball? Harrington had no help whatsoever in Detroit. If he has some help here, he will be just fine.

This pre-season has truly been exciting for the first time in 5-6 years. This looks like a coaching staff that knows how to use players, not individuals. This looks like a team, not an individual one-man show. When you don’t know what is coming next, it’s hard to defend and man in this offense seems everyone is getting touches!!! If this carries over through the season, look for the suckers that sold their tickets because of the change at QB to get back on that waiting list! This is the Petrino era (a real coach) that gets it done!! GO BIG BIRDS!

Everyone associated with the Falcons was burned over the last few years: the owner, the coaches, the “face” of the franchise, the rest of the players, as well as the fans. We all did it to each other and to ourselves. We were all enablers. Hopefully we have all learned our lessons and will do will right by each other in the future.

What’s done is done though. Right now it is so good to hear talk of the Falcon’s as a team instead of a supporting cast. Whatever happens this year, win or lose, we have a team again.

i think the fact that harrington and redman have performed competently at qb says volumes about petrino and his offensive system. it really is too bad MV isn’t here- we could see once-and-for-all time whether he could be a great NFL qb. he would certainly have the tools to work with, and that’s not just on the field. let’s hope its not just a preseason mirage and that the falcons can remain competitive under this new coach.

Bird Babe, As to Joe horn being quiet in pre season, I think that everyone knows he can catch a football. He is an older veteran, let him ease thru the meaningless games , he will be there when they count. They are obviously trying to build up the confidence of Roddy White and salvage that draft pick. With the vets like Horn in his ear on the sidelines and practice and him being thrown to so much in the games it was clear what they were trying to do.

The Falcons cuts are already announced on atlantafalcons.com. They cut Tommay Jackson, Billy Cundiff and Shropshire to name a few. Milner made the team which is a shock.

You folks just wait. Once Mike Vick is through with prison aftering experiencing all that steamy intimacy with the other male inmates, and comes back to the NFL to “redeem” himself and win a SUPER BOWL, the whole nation will unite to celebrate our nation’s diversity and celebrate Vick as The First Openly Gay African-American Quarterback to Ever Win a SUPER BOWL.

Seei, it is just that type of diversity that makes us so great as a nation.

You can do it, Mike!!!
We Love You, MIKE VICK !!!!!

SOMETHING REALLY CONCERNS ME, WHEN A GOOD SEASONED QB IS AVAILIABLE WHEN YOU NEED A GOOD WINNING QB AND YOU CAN GET HIM FOR LESS THAN HE IS WORTH! LEFTWITCH IS A SOUND WINNER WHOM IS A GREAT BUSINESS DECISION! THE BOUNUS IS THAT HE IS MARKETABLE AND WILL SELL SEATS MR.BLANK. WAKE UP TAKE THE DEAL HE IS HEALTH AND A GOOD LEADER AND OR BACK UP WHO IS SUITED FOR A THROW FIRST OFFENSE!

Joey Harrington is the most underrated QB in the NFL. You say he was picked to be a “backup”. Well the great Bill Walsh said in 2002 he would have drafted Harrington #1. Sorry but the Detroit Lions just plain suck. IF you believe our team is better than Detroit, we now have a true #1 QB with five years NFL starting experience!!

Petrino, Hue Jackson, Bill Musgrave, Mike Zimmer, this coaching staff is a HUGE upgrade over the Mora bunch. Arthur Blank is to be congratulated for putting this together.

There are MANY so-so teams in the NFC. Games are won by the Teams who play together best, and are motivated best. Joey Harrington will lead this Team to a good record in 2007 and Mark Bradley will eat his words. Vick who? We are moving on.

Sir/Ma’am, are you trying to say that if Blank gets another NON-white quarterback for HIS team, you and your little hoodlum friends will return to the Georgia Dome in force each Sunday( instead of selling your tickets out of protest over Vick ) to support this quarterback just because he looks like you?

HMMMMMM…….

The best thing to come out of the Vick suspension is that the thugs are selling their tickets. It will be safe to take the family to the game again.

Agreed, JD. I know they were only preseason games, but I was quite pleased with how well-behaved the crowds have been thus far.

No more hootin’ and hollerin’. No more being afraid to take my little brother and sister to the game. No more idiots dancing around in the aisles.

Just football. As it should be. Well, maybe not totally as it should be. It SHOULD be outdoors, but I digress.

I was shocked to here the news today that jason snelling was cut in favor of artose pinner. I thought this kid looked pretty good in the preseason and had definately earned a job as the third tailback. Petrino preached in the offseason about the need for a big back and at 232 lbs snelling fit the bill. Now we have three smaller type running backs and no big bruiser. Does anyones else have an opinion as to why the falcons would part ways with a guy who seemingly earned the job and filled a need as a big back?

Harrington and Chris aren’t capable NFL QB’s. Sorry but it’s true. This roster will expose Rich McKay, where are the players?

Our D was 22nd and we’ve added two new starters and Jimmy Williams is going to be toast back there. Gandy seemed weaker this preseason and the heir apparent was waived.

White will still however drop TD’s. Long season, long season.

Falcons receivers may or may not catch many TDs this season, but unlike Mike Vick in a prison shower, at least they won’t be passing OR catching a plethora of STDs.

Dream on: neither was Vick a capable NFL QB. So as I see it, we’re no worse off football-wise, but we’re 100% improved character-wise.

Dave Shultz - Nobody mentioned or attacked anyone’s race on here. There were only mocking lifetstyle choices, character issues and poor decisions.

You, however, Dave Shultz, have just pronounced your racism to everyone on here and just what you think of minorities such as myself and others.

Congratulations on being a stereotyping racist, Dave Shultz !!!!!

Dave Shultz = Race Hater… You must not have read the comments in the rest of this blog. There are a lot of other people saying a lot worse things than Dave wrote. And I agree with him, I’m sick if hearing about this whole situation. Let’s play some football!!!

By the way MV, good luck partner. I hope you do redeem yourself. This coming from a white, southern, good ole’ boy.

Starting Roddy White (or even keeping him on the team) is a horrendous decision. Inside the 40, dude drops everything that hits him in the hands.

The Falcon receivers should start wearing gloves similar to the ones that the great Jerry Rice used to wear when he was a receiver for the 49ers. They need gloves or stick-em on their hands because it appears that the Falcons are continuing a tradition of their receivers dropping about 100 balls per year. Mike Jenkins and Roddy White will each have about 100 drops each if they continue at the pace they have started on. Jenkins inability to hold onto the football cost the Falcons a touchdown when the defensive back grabbed the ball out of the air and ran it into the endzone for an opposing touchdown. The Falcons are going down a path that will lead to destruction if their wide receivers dont learn to catch the football. WHERE IS JOE HORN? WE MUST HAVE SOMEONE CATCH THE FOOTBALL BUT THEN AGAIN JOEY HARRINGTON ISNT GOOD ENOUGH TO GET THE RECEIVERS THE BALL ANYWAY AND JOEY IS FINDING THE DEFENSIVE PLAYERS ON THE OPPOSING TEAMS TO CREATE SCORES FOR THE OPPOSITION. HERE IS THE FORMULA FOR SUCCESS. JOEY MUST FIND HIS OWN RECEIVERS WHITE AND JENKINS AND THOSE TWO GUYS MUST CATCH THE FOOTBALL. If they dont the Falcons may finish the season with a record of 1-15. Go Falcons! Oh yeah, why dont the Falcons try and get Jerry Rice out of retirement to come play for them. If Jerry is unable to play for the Falcons, the Falcons should still try and hire the great Jerry Rice to teach their receivers how to catch the football.
