.500 and falling

I’m not really surprised by the outcome, although I have to say that I was cautiously optimistic throughout most of the game, especially when the Ravens missed the first field goal.

The offense even had some big plays but couldn’t capitalize, which hurt our already depleted defense. They just wore down in the second half and let Baltimore control the ball.

This would have been a nice surprise. All losses hurt, but things aren’t looking good.

By the way, it made me sick to see Saint Ray on the sideline celebrating.

Come on, Falcons! We really need to win next week.

That was a pathetic display of offense. Defense did not deserve to be a part of that. So Blank, you’re the one that needs to do something. Grow some balls and fire that crap for an offense coordinator or get used to being a bad football team. Fans don’t need to pay good money to watch a bush league offense every week.

Find a QB who is accurate and throws the ball more than 20 times a game. Completing 11 of 20 will not win games, even with the best run game in the league. Wake up! Find a QB who can throw at the receivers, not their feet, not their back shoulder or elbow. Good luck with the rest of the season!

Ironic,, the Birds have never had back to back winning seaons,,but we seem especially capable of coming up with back to back choke seasons. Amazing how a team can have such impressive beginnings of seasons,,,then either start to believe the headlines, thinking they are better than they are,,, or,, just coast the rest of the season, happy to collect their huge paychecks,, go home to their multi-million dollar homes, in their exotic sports cars or SUV’s, and wait till the off season. Made the decision to stop buying season tickets for this pathetic organization. I am sure I can find something better to do with my money than support these lackluster, so called professionals. They won’t be getting any of my money till they show me some pride. What a bunch of losers.

Can you believe our QB hasn’t thrown a 4th quarter TD pass in a year (15 games)?

Well, here we go again. No part of this team can play well enough to win for 60 minutes. In the first half, the defense and special teams did okay, but the pathetic offense only got 7 points despite several opportunities and good field position. In the second half, special teams sucked. The offense screwed up again, and when the defense absolutely, positively had to stop the Ravens, they gave up an 83 yard, 8 minute drive. So all in all, a total Team loss. Unfortunately, even the best coaching staff cannot overcome poor play by all facets of the team, and this is NOT the best coaching staff. The Ravens came out very flat in the first half, and still the offense only got 7 points, and almost gave that away at the end of the first half with unbelievably stupid play calling and time management. Lets face it, this team is going nowhere. Maybe if they lose the rest of their games, which is a good possibility, we will see some new coaches next year. Yet another year without a winning record. How pathetic is that? You would think after last year’s second half collapse they would have learned something. Guess not. In fact, this year the collapse started a game earlier. Oh well, bring back the Braves.

Greg Knapp’s playcalling today was garbage. If this team falls apart for a second straight year and misses the playoffs, the only good news might be that he and Mora get run out of town.

Anyway, if we don’t win these next three (NO, @WAS, @TB) you can kiss the playoffs goodbye.

Well said Jack Walsh, that was a pathetic display and Mora looked like he was coaching a pee wee league team every time they showed him on the sidelines. With that smile plastered across his face no matter what was happening on the field. Pathetic, you can tell the players are fed up with Knapp’s play calls. I remember a third and 4 in the first half where knapp called a straight run up the middle that got stuffed and Vick just throwing his hands in the air as if to say what the hell just let me run it or give me a chance to throw for 4 freakin yards. Blank has got to be angry with this. Yes we have injuries but that is no excuse in this league. The patriots constantly win despite injuries as do many other teams. I hate changing coaching staff’s this often but it is clear to me that they are not going to be able to get the job done. They seem confused in every facet of the game except for special teams where Joe D knows what he is doing. The city of ATLANTA and Falcons fans deserve better than this disgrace of a franchise.

Mora, Knapp, & Vick all need to go. Knapp is ineffective yet Mora supports him like he has won 3 Superbowls. Mora is a “Yes” man (which is what Blank likes apparently) and will NEVER win anything more than the Crackerjack prize. Going for it on your own 40 in the 1st quarter is idiocy.

Vick has proven that he is not worthy of making the 2nd most $ in the NFL. This guy can impress on occasion with his feet but his arm will rarely beat you. This is NOT the guy you want to build a Superbowl team with.

Mr Blank,

Please stay away from the sidelines. Get your A$$ up in the stands unless you want to coach.

Oh wait—-that might not be a bad idea!!

What was up with that 4th and 1 call early? The Ravens decided to hold the huddle 3 yds behind the line of scrimmage? You’re playing the fastest D in the NFL and you run a play that takes a second to develope? What the F*******

Once again, the starting QB position was terrible. The defense is decimated with injuries. There was no damn way that the second string defense could hold up that long. The play-calling was once again miserable. On third and goal, with guys like Warrick Dunn, Crumpler and others, you throw a jump ball to Blakely with three defenders hanging on him? Good Job Offense. This season is over. Good night Falcons….I was hoping the Ravens would hit his a* hard enough to not him straight out of Atlanta.

I’m sorry but this lost was not on Mike Vick. He didn’t have time to do anything. The Ravens defense was too much for the Falcons offensive line today. WE NEED A OFFENSIVE LINE. Get rid of Mora, Knapp and Dotelle.

Amazing that some of you want to blame Vick for this loss, when the man was running for his life pretty much all day long. Sure, he deserves blame for the losses to the Lions and Browns, but anybody with any kind of sense knew the Falcons didn’t match up very well with the Ravens in the first place. Besides, had our special teams not put the defense in bad position the game more than likely would have been closer.

This one wasn’t Vick’s fault. Outside the fumbles and a few stupid interceptions, Vick’s played well enough. His line hasn’t blocked. There are so many dropped passes. You can’t pin it on him. He doesn’t call the plays. For instance, the decision to run a slow-developing handoff to Dunn on 4th down in the first quarter in Ravens territory or that dumb corner throw to Blakely when a quick run to the right would have meant a score. Knapp and Mora are squarely to blame here. There is no excuse for why a team with as many skill position players as the falcons have can’t score. You also can’t blame either defense or special teams. With so many injuries, guys are worn out playing on both Donatell and DiCamalis have done a good job with what they’ve had. When Mora gets fired, they need to be retained.

Anyone marginally intelligent can see that this game was lost by special teams. They practically gave this game away. The Ravens had 3 big returns, 1 before the end of the first half and 2 in the 3rd quarter. So you footballs gods can spin it anyway you want, by DeCamailles’ boys blew this one.

Yeah blame Vick, but the onus of the loss lies with the ST.

Horrible, Horrible! The play calling is passed awful. Mora looks all smug acting as if he has all the answers. This team has no HEART!!!! For anyone who has played football will tell you. HEART is what will help you win regardless of the situation. WE have no leadership!!! Vick has a bad play and he goes on the bench and sulks. Knapp doesn’t remeber from game to game that on a third and long the offensive line isn’t strong enough to grind out 8 yards. Blank isn’t humble enough to admit he made a mistake in hiring an old 49er staff that had a losing mentality pio to coming to atlanta. Finally McKay for all his guruism signed some damaged high priced free agents that may or may not play more than three games this year. The whole thing is in shambles. we are in third place with an upset N.O. team coming to town. I predict 9-7 or am I being to generous

The problems with the Falcons’ offense should be evident to everyone. Mike Vick is not a good quarterback! It’s time to give someone else a shot at playing winning football. Vick is not a winner and he will never be a winner. Eighty-two yards passing is not acceptable. One touchdown scored is not going to win many games. Time for a change at quarterback and it’s quickly becoming time to change coaching regimes as well. The Falcons are a bad team in sharp decline!

This season was offically over last week. Mora and his buffoons are playing out the season. He is a lame duck coach who will not find another head coaching job.

I am ashamed to be a Falcon fan. I have suffered through this year in and year since 1978, the first season I was old enough to go with my father to the game. I thought that things were certain to get better. I do not make a lot of money and the monkey I dish out for my season tickets really puts a strain on my family finaces. I will not renew next year. I plan to take the money dogeared for the Falcons and take my kids to Disney world.

At least there, Fantasyland is a real and magical place, not the crypt that is the Georgia Dome.

The falcon just straight out stinks.Greg knapp keep calling the same old plays.Everyboby and every team can quest what the falcons are going to do.The defence don’t blitzs that much and they are getting killed on every other down. The cornerback giving the wide receivers lots of room about 5-10yds from them.Keith Brooking should be playing middle lb because he can not guard tight ends and running backs. The secondary and line backers can’t tackle worth a dam.The offensive line really just out there getting easy money.Arthur Blank did a poor job on getting this franchise the help they need.Mora and knapp,Ed got to be fired.

Im sorry, but if you can’t see Vick’s weaknesses, stop watching football. Don’t play Schaub, he’s gone after this year. Get Shockley ready. Yes, I know its crazy, but why groom Schaub for someone else. We have no money to sign a QB.Schaub is history after this year. Vick will never get it. Sure, we drop passes. Most of the time he can’t see the open reciever. Some people just are not born to be NFL QBs. Look at McNair today. He does nothing for almost two quarters, then he figures it out, and things start to happen. Not a great game for him. Just a wise old QB that gets it. Vick is not a young QB anymore. He just can’t figure it all out. No shame in that. No shame in taking the money. Its over for Vick. Blank needs to sell the team. He doesn’t know how to spend his money.

Maybe Blank will learn from his mistakes. At least he cares, unlike Time-Warner about the Braves. McKay is a smart guy, but he and Blank made a HUGE mistake hiring Mora. Lovie Smith and Nick Saban were available, but they didn’t like the way Smith interviewed and didn’t like Saban’s price. So they let a smooth-talking neophyte like Mora woo them over. What a mistake. Like I said maybe they’ll learn.

How can anyone say that this is not Vick’s fault? He is the most inconsistent qb in the league. He has a first half going 10 of 14 and then finishes 11 of 20…Now I’m not saying that the coaching staff isn’t to blame as well. These guys are terrible..no imagination. You could tell today the difference between a good team and…well the Falcons. It’s thrid and goal for the Ravens at the two and they score a touchdown with a simple run up the middle…the Falcons meanwhile have third and goal and throw a fade pass to who? Dwayne Blakley? Come on..Bring in Ken Wisenhunt.

Same story, different year. Falcons somehow manage to find ways to lose. This coaching staff is delusional with some of these plays being called. It was a risk going for 1st down early in the game, fourth and a yard. I liked it, before it developed. I thought dive should do it, but hell no the hand off is five, six yards off the line. To the Vick Haters: Give the guy a break. This is as much his blame as it is Jenkins, White, Lelie, the defense, the special teams, etc.

Vick wasn’t on the field the three times we kicked it to BJ Sams after he had already torched us. Vick wasn’t on the field when Jamal Lewis was having his best game of the season.

Ed Donnatell (spelling?) is not a good defensive coordinator. He relies on pressure from his front four, even when Kearney and Abraham are out.

Greg Knapp is a guy who doesn’t have a clue. He throws on first down, and upon an incompletion, he most certainly runs it on second. If these are things I’m picking up on, what do you think the defensive coordinators playing against us are thinking?

Jim Mora, simply put, doesn’t have a game plan. He never does. I’ve watched the Falcons over the last three years win some good games. But never have I seen a game we won and said, “You know what? That game was won because of coaching.” I just haven’t seen it. I’ve said we won because of a great Vick run or a nice defensive stop (see: Eagles, last year, MNF, Hall on TO).

That being said, things need to go in a different direction. Reeves got us to the playoffs in Vick’s first year, then missed it when Vick went down. Mora is in his third year, with one playoff appearance, a better supporting cast, and probably no playoff this year.

I am a fan. I will always support the Falcons. A part of me is optimistic and says we can still win and still make a run at the South.

But that other part of me is starting to think towards April, where I’m feeling we’ll be drafting in the top 12.

I thought I was watching the 70s Falcons. run, run, pass, punt. Injuries are just excuses-I saw no effort today. Fire Mora and staff. Maybe pull a Walker/Dallas type of trade with Vick and get a slew of draft picks. Vick will win a ring, but not with Atlanta. Go Hawks! Go Braves!

The problem with this team was not just the loss today. If they had won the past two games like good teams do, today wouldn’t have been such a bad loss. I mean how do you lose to Cleveland and Detroit when there is all of that so-called talent on this team? That right there is a sign of poor coachng. Look how the Ravens made adjustments at the half and Atlanta did nothing..there is just no intelligence with this team. All you ever hear is we have a lot of injuries well so does most of the other teams in the NFL.

I read these comments that the band wagon falcon fans put up every week. I am not a falcons fan, I am a fan of football win or loose. It is evident that the fans of Atlanta want Vick out of here, but a QB can only be blamed for so much. The playcalling on offense and defense are terrible. A player can only exhibit as much as a coach allows him to. For example, the Ravens have a obvious blitz called and MV is not allowed to check out of a playaction bootleg that runs right into it. Instead of the fans downing Vick we need to be trying to get rid of the coaching staff. Vick is only a small problem. Any other coach in the NFL could do wonders with a talent like MV. We can easily put Matt Schaub in with the blocking that has been given to Vick and he would not succeed either. Please pay attention to football and not salaries and other off the feild non sense that clouds your judgement of a players ability. And by the way Vick may havent thrown a TD in the 4th in 15 games but out of those games he was victorious in 10 of them.

The Falcons are toast. Another pathetic display of offense. About the middle of the fourth quarter I was thinking the defense had played well enough to win, but then they allow the Ravens to march 88 yards, mostly right up the gut, only passing on third down into Donatel’s patented soft zone.

Michael Vick continues to show that he is a great athlete with less than average accuracy. For instance, on the very first play from scrimmage does a three step drop and throws into the flat, with absolutely no pressure on him, and misses his receiver by 5 yards. I love Mike Vick, but I do not believe he will ever be a championship QB in the NFL.

But you can’t pin this loss on Vick. You could say special teams lost it, or the lack of any running game lost it, or the play calling and lack of motivation, planning, lost it. But if I had to pick one reason for the loss I’d pin it on the coaching. (God, how did Blank ever pick this guy over Lovie Smith??? Just goes to show how important interveiwing skills are are in the NFL!!) They ought to just give Mora some pom-poms and a skimpy outfit and let him be a cheerleader.

Bird Babe is correct, except on one point. We do NOT need to win next week. Face it, this team is not going anywhere this year. The only hope of avoiding several more years of Mora and his sorry staff is to lose our remaining games. Ironically, sometimes the only way to get better is to first get worse. If we go .500, we can only look forward to several more years of this.

Keep it up Falcons. I know you can do it!

Look for a new coaching staff next year.

It is easy to stop Michael Vick when the other team knows which plays will be run especially on first down. It is the same thing play after play, quarter after quarter, game after game. The play calling is what makes wins difficult for the Falcons. The previous wins happened even with some very bad play calling. Knapp needs to go!

Blow all our draft picks on a QB who can’t throw, WR’s with no hands, and DB’s who get beat like a drum. It does not even occur to this franchise that our OL is terrible, especially at pass protection. Let’s trade Vick and Co. Fire the coaching staff. Start over. It can’t get much worse, and us long time fans have seen the worst, and this is not much better, given the sell job we’ve been given.

at this point, does anyone still care? i’m tired of this? to add insult to injury, i am sitting here listening to 680 hearing Reeves announce the cowboys game when he really should be coaching this crap team. i am done with this team. i no longer care. WHY? BECAUSE NO ONE ON THE FALCONS CARE. MORA SMILES. BLANK GOES DOWN THERE FOR THE LAST FIVE MINUTES AND PLAYS GRAB AS5 WITH THAT PATHETIC CHUMP OF A COACH. AND THE GD QB……

I HAVE STOOD UP FOR MV7 AGAINST ALL THE HATING AND AGAINST ALL OF THE RACIST NONSENSE THAT GOES ON ON THESE AJC BLOGS (AND YES THERE ALOT OF YOU - SOME OF YOU ARE MORE BLATANT AND OBVIOUS ABOUT YOUR RACISM THAN OTHERS). BUT I CAN NOT DO IT ANYMORE. TO LOSE THAT GAME AFTER LOSING THE LAST TWO GAMES AND THEN TO WALK OFF THE FIELD JUST A SMILING AWAY, JUST A SMILING AWAY, JUST A SMILING AWAY, PLAYING GRAB AS5 WITH ED REED AND STEVE MCNAIR AND THE REST OF THE RAVENS. THAT MAKES ME SICK. I AM SITTING THERE IN MY LIVING ROOM, BASICALLY GOING RICHIE TANNENBAUM WITH EVERY APPLIANCE IN THE LIVING ROOM AND THIS GUY WHO I STICK UP FOR OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN IS JUST SMILING, SMILING, SMILING, FREAKING HAVING A GRAND OLE GOOD TIME AFTER HE AND THE REST OF THE TEAM AND COACHES LOOKS LIKE CRAP YET AGAIN. HOW DID HE NOT WALK OFF THE FIELD AFTER THAT LAST DRIVE (LOL!! DRIVE -DOES MV7, KNAPP, MORA, ET AL. KNOW WHAT AN OFFENSIVE DRIVE IS?), AND JUST NOT TAKE HIS HELMET AND SLAM IT ALL OVER THE BENCH AND THE SIDELINES? IF I WAS WATCHING MY TEAM, MY SEASON, AND POSSIBLY MY CAREER FUNNELING DOWN THE TOILET I WOULD BE SLAMMING THINGS AND SCREAMING AND GOING BALLISTIC. BUT MAYBE THAT IS JUST ME.

INSTEAD HE IS SITTING OVER ON THE BECK LOOKING LIKE HE IS WORKING ON HIS ACT - WHAT ONE LINERS SHOULD I USE WITH ED? WHICH ONES WITH STEVE? OH MY GOODNESS, WHAT IF RAY COMES OVER TO SPEAK WITH ME? OH I GOT JUST THE JOKE FOR RAY? RAY AND I WILL HAVE A YUCKFEST WITH THAT ONE.

I HATE RAY LEWIS AND THINK HE HAS BEEN OVERRATED FOR 2 OR 3 YEARS ALTHOUGH HE IS ONE OF THE 7 BEST LBS OF ALL TIME. BUT DOES ANYONE ON HERE THINK THAT IF RAY LEWIS PLAYED FOR THE FALCONS, HE WOULD LET MV7 GET AWAY WITH BEING SUCH A GIGGLING LITTLE GIRL AFTER THE GAME IS OVER?

I AM SICK OF YOU VICK!!!!! this is my last time defending you. this loss is not on you. the whole team and the whole coaching staff sucks. If I were arthur, i would fire mora, knapp, and donatell TODAY!!!!!!!!!! start over. you did not show reeves the respect he deserved. these AS5 clowns do not deserve any respect.

i would also fire mckay. there is obviously not enough talent on this team. when mckay took over, reeves handed him the keys and talent to get to the conference championship and to go 12-4. cutting veteran after veteran, hiring idiot coach after idiot coach, makes me think that MCKAY himself is overrated and a huge problem with this team. we were all told how mckay was being groomed to be the next NFL Commish when he came on board. that turned out to be the furthest thing from the truth. he was not even in the top 5 contenders. thanks for that bit of BOGUS insider information there ole kinkade. what was the quote about mckay from the nfl insiders? he did not have the timber to be the commish!!! that’s right. and he does not have the timber to be the GM of my team either. Who else takes a GOOD TEAM ON THE VERGE OF GREATNESS and dismantles it? NO WONDER GRUDEN WON THE POWER STRUGGLE AND RAN MCKAY THE HELL OUT OF TAMPA!!! WHAT OTHER GM GETS RUN OUT OF TOWN THE YEAR AFTER HE WINS A SUPER BOWL?!?!?!?! BUT THAT WAS THE GUY KING ARTHUR JUST HAD TO HAVE?

i am not a lunatic fan but i do care about my teams and my players. i should never care more than the players who are actually playing the game. BUT reading these blogs week after week, talking to my friends all week, WE ALL CARE MORE THAN ARTHUR, KNAPP, MORA, DONATELL, MV7, MCKAY and the rest of the gd team. I CAN NO LONGER CARE MORE THAN THE PLAYERS, OWNERS, GMS, AND COACHES CARE. that makes me an idiot.

the funny thing was that i was actually going to do my usual thing and be an MV7 loyalist and defend him yet again against all of the haters, racists, and jsut plain old morons who frequent the AJC because i knew it was coming. AND then he had to go skipping, and a dancing, a laughing, and a giggling off the field playing grab AS5 with the ravens and i decided then that MV7 can go f*ck himself. u all can have him and say what you will about him now. he lost at least one fan who was far too much of a blind loyalist. and cut the dreads already mike. you don’t look cool. you look stupid. HAVE YOU STOPPED GIGGLING YET MV7? IF YOU HAVE NOT NOTICED IT IS NOW 45 MINUTES LATER AND I HAVE NOT EVEN STARTED GIGGLING YET MV7?

Maddenqueen, next time you see MV7, please take the rims off his car and smack them off his head for me. I am done with you. I think he is an extremly talented guy who is unfairly blames and criticized BUT I can not do this anymore. I can no longer care more than they do.

I’ve been critical of Vick before on this blog, and he’ll never be Joe Montana, but he’s not the primary problem. Proper coached, he might be a decent QB. God know, his athletic skills are unparalleled. I have to say, I’ve read more racist BS, both white and black, on this blog than I’ve ever heard in real life. Not EVERY person who criticizes Vick is a racist, and not EVERY person who defends him a hating militant. Does debeating a quarterback’s skills have to turn into racial word war?

How was that loss Vick’s fault???

Uh, all you Vick haters need to learn about the game of football! Vick did absolutely NOTHING wrong in this game, and you are harping on VICK???

C’mon, Atlanta! Let’s learn about the game first!

You all and your blatant, gross stupidity is making the real fans sick! Everyone can see how the Baltimore Defense owned the line of scrimmage and sacked Vick 5 times! (Oh, that must be Vick’s fault, too, right? You realize that Vick is the most agile and elusive QB in the NFL, but without blocking, even he can’t outrun 4 people hitting him at all ends.)

Also, most of those sacks are called “Coverage” sacks for a reason, dummies! See, since the only knowledge of football comes from the announcers on that game, they will tell you that most of those sacks were coverage sacks, meaning, the receivers were not open and there was no place for Vick to run away.

Idiots! Why do I even come in here? Is there a forum somewhere that discusses the Falcons game intelligently, or is the Falcons doomed to have you all as the only bloggers to speak on this team.

Perhaps there’s an opportunity here. Perhaps I should start a blog that talks about the Falcons and ban all idiots from the blog.

Now, let me define an idiot. If you somehow think that the Falcons loss was because Vick played badly… you are an idiot.

If you have no tickets to the Falcons, but are talking like you are somehow going to boycott the game… You are an idiot!

If you think that Vick isn’t a good quarterback, even though most coaches and players in the NFL will give their right arm to play with him… you are an idiot!

If you think that Vick needs to be replaced by Matt Schaub, like Schaub can somehow do better than Vick… You are an idiot!

Oh, and even if you blame an individual player an a loss with the context of a team sport… You are an idiot!

So, to all idiots… Please don’t spew any stupid garbage on this blog, please! Perhaps then, we can discuss the failures of the offensive scheme and the breakdowns on the line, like normal football fans.

FALCONS PLAYERS HAVE QUIT ON THIS COACHING STAFF

Mora doesn’t have a clue….he keeps saying ‘we have a bunch of fighters on this team.’ Really???? Where were they today, Jim? You say one thing, but obviously the players do another. That’s the sign of a leader who has lost the ability to lead, and players who have lost the ability to follow. The definition of ‘insanity’ is trying the same thing and expecting a different result. TheFalcons have the best PR department in all of football. They have led everyone, including the media, to believe that they have been riddled by injuries, yet every Sunday you see all but one or two in the lineup. Again the Lions, they were missing three of their four defsnive lineman. We;re the number one rushing team in the league. So what do we do? We throw the ball all day long. Why do other teams take advantage of our weaknesses, yet we don’t to others. I liked the fourth and short decision today early in the game. I didn’t like the play call however. You don’t run at the teeth of a defense who knew right where the play was going from the snap. There is no excuse for this team to be 5-5 with the talent they have. We haven’t had Abraham or Hartwell all season and were 4-1. Now at 5-5 and they want to use injuries as an excuse. Every team we play has a longer inactice list than we do from week to week. It’s time to stop using “injuries” as an excuse and tell it like it is. This a team loaded with talent, but lacking goog coaching. They’re not prepared and they don’t put the players in a situation to win games.

You guys are funny the game was lost on bad coaching period. Mora does not have a game plan and how to resort to plan B. Why would you call a roll out pass to the left with the entire defensive line and linebackers shifted to the left. Makes no sense. Let Vick audible. I thought I heard it all but this was a plain horrible. This is what someone said on the blog “To add insult to injury, we’re going to let Schaub walk at the end of the season. That alone should ensure the future inevitability of his pro bowl status.” Are YOU F-ING KIDDING ME! Schaub=Pro Bowl. please. Maybe in the Euro League or pre season.

You F##king racist Vick haters I just something to say. It is not Vick’s fault, Vick got hurried 16 times, hit 11 times, and got sacked 5 times, is that Vick’s fault “HELL NAW” that’s the offensive line’s fault and the coaches fault. When your QB is hurried 16 times in a game that means Gregg Knapp is not adjusting to the defense and calling plays to make up for the offensive flaws, that my friends mean that the coaches have to go. Teams know what the Falcons are to do, the run plays doesn’t work, bootlegs, doesn’t work nothing works because everything is predictable, and one more thing on that third and goal play if Vick was aloud to audible, he could have audibled to a QB sneak for a touchdown instead of throwing that pass to Blackley, there was no linebacker or DT over the center, Vick could have walked in for the TD, Mora, Knapp, and Donatell should be fired. HOLLA! GO FALCONS!

I have a question for the pathetic jock sniffers who worship at Vick’s throne:

What is your savior’s record in his last 13 games?

Answer: 5-8.

Of course, as usual, the braindead idiots are coming out of the woodwork to defend their savior. According to these Vick-heads, he gets ALL of the credit when the team wins, but NONE of the blame when the team loses.

Well, what about the absolutely PATHETIC pass that Vick threw to Barnicle Crumpler on the goal line? Instead of getting what should have been an easy TD, the Falcons had to settle for a FG.

I can’t wait to hear who the Vick-heads blame that one on.

One more thing: did anybody else notice the absolutely PATHETIC effort made by DeAngelina Hall on Jamal Lewis’s second TD run? It was obvious that DeAngelina wanted NO PART of big No. 31. Maybe she (DeAngelina) was waiting for some of her home boys to show up.

For all you Schaub lovers Vick got sacked 5 times and avoided 4 sacks by either bying time and running for yards, throwing the ball away, or getting a pass off ala Roddy whites big catch, if Schaub was in the game he would have got sacked 9 times maybe a couple more because the receivers weren’t finished with their routes because the defense were getting to the backfield so fast. This 3 game losing streak is sickeningly familiar to all long suffering fans of the Atlanta Falcons of the past 41 years. Stick a fork in the 2006 Falcons, because they are done! By Dave

I was going to post an angry message, but it seems like you guys have that covered. Yes, our football team is bad. Either our receivers cant get open, or Vick can’t see them. We cant change all 3 receivers, we can’t change the Oline, and we all know that Knapp won’t be fired until after the season. Therefore I propose benching Vick as an experiment. Surely, Schaub can’t do much worse than 10, 13, 13 points (our last 3 results).

By Leeman Bennett

It must start with the termination of the whole coaching staff. Trade Vick before everyone in the NFL discovers that he is not a quarterback. 2 first round picks would be a nice start, then promote Matt to the first team. It’s just a starting point and can’t be implemented until the offseason. As far as a head coach, I am available!

For those defending Mike Vick…. wake up. He’s got incredible skills… he’s just not very bright. Period.

Yes, his offensive line stinks, but he was sacked 5 times today and 4 of those could easily have been avoided if he does THE SMART THING and throws the ball away. Falcon fans have been waiting for Vick to do smart things for 5 years now….. it’s time to trade him while you can still get something worthwhile for him.

Also, Coach Mora, could you summon up enough guts to actually call out your QB when he does stupid things and stop acting like a member of the Vick fan club? If Vick played for Parcells or Shanahan, he’d be elevating his play or sitting on the bench. I’d love to hook Rich McKay to a lie detector and ask him if he’d have taken Vick as his QB before he arrived as GM….

I wanted to congratulate the Falcons on finding the only person on the planet that can slow down Michael Vick… Greg Knapp!

Vick has his best year as a 20 year old first year starter… they had a simple offense and let Vick do his thing, instead of slowing him down with timing patterns.

I always hear how Atlanta leads NFL in rushing every year in Knapp’s offense. I would love to find an offense with Vick at QB that would not league lead in running the ball.

When Schaub gets to play, the receivers suddenly seem to be able to catch it better. Is that weird to you?

The birds had a blocking scheme and players put together for the purpose of trap blocking adapted to Vicks abilities. This was not the best for passing but for the running game with the small quick players this team has it was near perfect. Then comes the HBO interview and a change in schemes, this worked briefly but defences made adjustments and Vick reverted somewhat to the tendencies that have defined his career to this point. So here we are with players and a scheme unsuited for each other, this is a formula that seems doomed to fail.

we got to make some important decisions now! We got to decide if we are going to make them from our hearts or our heads!! common sense would say that we bench Mike Vick and not worry about the stands because with Schaub he gives us the best chance to win and that alone will keep people in the stand with a winning organization! That display today was horrible! horrible! horrible!! It’s obvious that Mora has lost this team and that it comes down to coaching, what Vick needs is a STRONG coach that’s going to PUSH him and CHALLENGE him instead of being “friends” and being “cool” with him. Because he has talent but all “GREAT” players with that kind of talent, ichael Jordan etc. need a STRONG coach to push him to the level he can get to and also this team needs DEFENSIVE HELP and get one SOLID wide receiver who actually knows how to catch on a consistent basis!

Once again - Vick was awful…11 of 27 passes for 127 yards. His rating will likely be the 3rd worst QB rating in the game after today. Trade Vick while you can still get several decent players for him, otherwise his stock is quickly sinking.

Incompetence is colorblind, playah…. I don’t care if the QB is the color of a baboon’s butt. Crap, put Shockley in… at least I know he’s smart enough to throw the ball away before he takes a 17 yd. sack on third down.

Vince Young in his 1st year had a far better game against the Ravens than Vick. The list of QBs that came into the league after Vick but are further along is getting longer. Sorry to say but Mr. Blank bet on the wrong QB by giving him a 10 year contract and bet on the wrong coaching staff. He probably doesn’t care as he seems to have bought the team just to hang out on the sidelines. This team is further from a championship today than it was when he bought the team. Problem now is the hit to the salary cap if they start cutting the dead wood that is holding them back.

For all those that keep crying for Schaub, please STOP IT!!!. Do you think Matt Schaub would have done anything against a TOp ranked Defense like the Ravens? Get real. The times that Vick did get out of the pocket and gained yardage, Schaub would have been sacked. The problem is the O line can’t block consistently. The can’t pick up blitzes. When Mike has the time like the other QBs in this league have to throw the ball then I think we will see what he’s all about. He can’t get comfotable when he feels he has to run for his life on most downs.

Today’s lost was on the coaching and Special Teams. Not the D and not the O. 10 point would have been more than enough to win this game if it had not been for the 3…THREE big returns by BJ Sams. The Ravens could not drive the lenght of the field at all today. They didnt have to b/c the special teams gave them 3 possessions inside the Falcons 30. You can NOT give any team that kind of field possession that many times and expect to win.

Wow! Let’s rehash - Vick is a high-priced running back. The O-line sucks (at best). The coaching squad is a joke. And Mr. Blank needs to realize his place is in the owner’s box, not on the sidelines.

What I don’t understand is why the worship of Vick as a QB? I am a Bears fan myself and despite our record, I think Grossman is a joke. We have been lucky and understand that. Lovie hasn’t and wouldn’t pull Rex out, even though there are several times when he should have this season.

We are all fans, I hope, and want to see our team do the best they can. We can agree to disagree without sounding like idiots. We talk about the players having some class on and off field, we should be able to do the same in here!

Talk about ingorance? Phil, your mirror is really shining bright. Race has nothing to do with the fact that we want someone who makes more than $100 million to really earn it. And that means playing like he earns $100M a year. Vick has not and never will. With the money he is making we (the public, and paying fans) have a right to expect more. It is my opinion that Vick lacks the mental facilities and the determination to play as a great QB. I don’t care if Vick was green or pink, he certainly hasn’t earned his “pay”. Someone making 15 to 20 times more than the president of the US has a right to be criticized when he is not living-up to that potential. Why is it that many of you feel the need to call people racist when they criticize Vick? Because that is the lowest denominator that you can come-up with. You can’t defend Vick any other way without attaking with the “R” word. Call a spade what it really is: a spade, rather than relying on racist remarks. Vick simply is not good enough to be a “great” QB. I guess that makes me a racist to some of you. I am judging him on the merits and content (or lack thereof) of his play, not the color of his skin.

Gentlemen, Gentlemen,

Race and religious preference has nothing to do with it. This is either a good football team with a competent coaching staff or it is not. I would suggest unequivocably that it is not. The simplest solution, of course, is to select a new head coach. Arthur no doubt is reviewing resumes for head coach as we speak.

Let’s tone down the racial and religious slurs and concentrate on the task at head: figuring out what to do about a team who has lost its heart for football. I suggest that we call Arthur and tell him just to cancel the rest of the season so that no one gets hurt. Give Mora a chance to find a job at Publix while they still need help for the holidays.

After reading the comments on this blog, I really have to wonder how old some of you fools are, and if you actually watch the damn games. Vick did make some errant throws today, but unlike the last couple of weeks, he’s not the one to blame for this loss. The O line resembled a screen door today, letting defenders just run through and tattoo Vick at their leisure. Whoever made that comment about Vick throwing a bad goal line pass to Crumpler must be smoking something. Replays showed that that pass was right on the money, but as usual, it was dropped.

The quality of play calling continues to decrease week after week after week. Does our coaching staff not know the meaning of the term “deep ball?” You have a QB with one of the strongest arms in the NFL, and you resort to simple dink and dunk passes all damn day?? WTF???? I know our WR’s are suspect, but let’s air it out more than 1-2 times a game and see what happens.

The defense actually did a good job in the first half, but as usual, the Ravens made halftime adjustments and we did not.

I am praying that this coaching staff gets the ax after this season. We need a coach who will properly utilize Vick’s talents, and who will also get in his face and let him know when he makes mistakes.

Like I have always said, player coaches never succeed in the NFL. This is a cut throat business and that is why hard nose coaches are usually the ones who succeed in the NFL. I hope Mr. Blank comes to his senses and gets a hard nose coach with some experience for next year. One that is not afraid to fire there assistant coaches that don’t perform up to there standards. You can tell that Mora has lost total control of this team. The Falcons also need a new General Mgr that does not go after injury prone athletes in the off season.

In the first half, the Falcons let Vick drop back in the pocket and throw passes like a regular QB. Result — only one TD, but 9/13 passing and only 1 sack for Vick. In the first half, the Falcons regularly blitzed Steve McNair. Result — 0 points on the board, and the Ravens offense was out of sync the whole time.

In the 2nd half, the Falcons constantly called gimmick plays for Vick (moving pockets, naked bootlegs, shotgun draws, etc.) instead of letting him drop back and throw it like a regular quarterback. Result — Vick gets sacked 5 times and completes 2 passes in the 2nd half. In the 2nd half, the Falcons consistently rush only 4 guys, dropping the rest back into coverage. Result — Jamal Lewis scores 3 TDs, Steve McNair sits back in the pocket and completes mad passes, the Ravens chew up nearly 10 minutes of clock in the 4th quarter and the Falcons get outscored 24-3.

YOU CANNOT GET INTO A PASSING RHYTHM WHEN YOU CAN’T DROP BACK IN THE POCKET AND THROW LIKE A REGULAR QUARTERBACK! THIS IS NOT COLLEGE AND VICK IS NOT REGGIE BALL! FOR 2 WEEKS AGAINST PITTSBURGH AND CINCINNATI THE GUY DROPPED BACK LIKE A REGULAR QB AND CARVED UP 2 DIFFERENT PASS DEFENSES. DO THESE COORDINATORS NOT WATCH FILM? Every single time the Falcons call one of these designed bootlegs or moving pocket plays designed for Vick to pass the ball on the run, the offensive line is unable to block for Vick and he is under pressure and either gets sacked or throws incomplete with a 300-pound defender in his face. This is not surprising — it is much harder for any offensive line to block when they are on the move themselves. Today’s sacks are not on Vick or the offensive line — it is all on Greg Knapp for calling idiotic plays that put the offensive line in a bad position to begin with.

It’s not rocket science. Every single damn week the coordinators make the SAME DAMN MISTAKES and every week our team pays the price. Yeah, our normally solid special teams gave up a couple of big plays. Big f*** deal. When we had first and goal they were able to hold us to a field goal — when they had first and goal we let Lewis walk into the end zone untouched. Arthur Blank is doing a disservice to his fans by keeping Knapp and Donatell employed when they are CONSISTENTLY THE WORST COORDINATORS IN THE LEAGUE EVERY WEEK. And if the overly optimistic Jim Mora continues to support his atrocious coordinators, then he needs to be canned as well.

The only hope the Falcons have is that the rest of the NFC sucks too. Amazingly enough, if the Redskins upset the Panthers next week and the Falcons beat the Saints, the Falcons would actually be in first place in the NFC South. But judging from our consistently horrible play-calling, I doubt it.

The Falcon have enough doubters, and fair weather fan when winning. but if you can’t support your team in times like these then I say goodbye.

Its better 2 have a faithful feel, than to have thousands of so called fan only when the team is winiing.

So even the announcer, what team is going to show up today , Hell the Falcons win or lose all day and all night. we are still the Falcons. Our time is still in reach.

Oh yeah, my good friend Stk10, Vick was 11 for 21 for 127 yards, 1 TD, and 0 turnovers for an 86.8 QB rating today. I am the first to say that QB rating is the most overrated stat in all of football, but if you are going to judge him based on his QB rating then Vick’s passing numbers were really not that bad today. Right now Tony Romo is about to beat the last undefeated team in the league, and so far he has almost the identical QB rating.

I have a question for “INeedANewTeam”:

Why should the Falcons go out and get a coach for the purpose of “properly utilizing Vick’s talents”?

To me, that’s a waste of time. The Falcons have plenty of glaring deficiencies that will not be solved by Vick learning how to play quarterback. He hasn’t learned yet. It’s not even close to natural for him and he’s been in the league for six years. As of now, I’m definitely in the camp of the people who say Vick will never be a good passer. The guy can’t do it.

To everyone else, to accuse the sane people (not everybody who blogs here is sane and we can all figure out who those people are) of racism because they don’t think Vick is a good QB is just ridiculous. If Vick could throw the ball well and be smart with it, no one would complain.

Vick does not think like a QB. He makes mistakes that cost us games. It not something to be ashamed of. Most people can’t do it. The blacks are being racist for supporting him regardless of his performance. Play Shockley for all I care, just put in someone who can learn something. I stayed on the Vick bandwagon until a month ago. he fooled me for gtwo games, then went back to his old ways. He just can’t figure it out. if Jeff Garcia can throw for 4000 yards in this offensive scheme with the same coach, Vick should be able to muster 2500 or so. He can’t, and never will. I’d rather have busted up old Steve McNair any day. Thats just a good QB. Vick has been figured out, and he can’t make miracles anymore.

what the Falcons need is leadership. Leadership comes from the coach and his staff. And it comes from the quarterback. From my perspective, the Falcons’ leaders have shown little ability to lead. Has anyone taken a look at Mora’s behavior on the sidelines? During a timeout this afternoon, he said almost nothing. The players made the decisions. Look at Cower, or Parcells, or even Dungy as examples. Is there any question as to whose in charge there? Not so with Mora.

Leadership also comes from the quarterback position. Vick has shown no propensity to lead. Instead, he complains openly about dropped balls (and there have certainly been some), play calling, and his line. Some advice for Vick: grow up or move to wide receiver and let Schaub run the show.

Here we go again. The Haters, racists and bashers are out again in full force. Until the ignorance and stupididy that fuels racism is dealt with, it will continue to be an issue. When a team has to use 2nd and 3rd team players as starters, the bench and special teams will always suffer. We saw evidence of that today.

I am actually proud of the team for putting up such a fight. We lost this game because of poor special teams play, and poor play selection. There was a 3:57PM post by CJ which stated, “FIND A QB WHO IS ACCURATE AND THROWS THE BALL MORE THAN 20 TIMES A GAME”. This is an example of the ignorance and emotional stupidity that seems to affect those with personal issues involving Vick. CJ, GREGG KNAPP, THE OC, CALLS ALL OFF PLAYS, SO VICK THREW ONLY 20 TIMES BECAUSE KNAPP CALLED ONLY 20 PASS PLAYS. IN THIS SITUATION, IT WOULD TAKE A VERY LOW IQ OR A HIGH LEVEL OF RACISM, OR BOTH, NOT TO RECOGNIZE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM.

Ineedanewteam: You need to share who your dealer is because we could all use a bit of what you are smoking. The replay showed that Vick’s pass to Crump was on the money? Wrong pal. That pass was two feet off the ground and too far ahead of Algie. It would have been an amazing catch had he held on.

This team was again not ready to play and you could see the players start to give up when Baltimore got the lead and the ball. Mora is responsible for that and should be fired tomorrow morning. My bet is that the players would not object if it were to happen. These guys all bought into this being a superbowl year and now will be lucky to have a winning season. Hey Realfalconfan!!

We deserve something better than this…. the team has a lot of talent, but the coaching is horrible. Mora hasn’t got a clue!! This game proved it beyond a shadow of doubt!!!!! I will be surprised if more isn’t said about this staff. Dunn hinted at it last week. I think the players ought to pull Blank aside and tell him like it is…….REAL FANS DESERVE A REAL TEAM!!!!!

Bring back Dan Reeves!!! Of course, the way Arthur and Vick treated him, he would simply laugh in the pitiful faces.

This team sucks and it is all the fault of Blank.

His knee jerk reaction in 2003 firing Reeves all because Vick broke his leg and he (Blank) made Vick the team by pushing in in his wheelchair, flying him in the owners jet, etc. He undermined Reeves and the team quit. Then he fires Reeves, this is isnt brilliant as some say, just lucky!!

MAKES ME SICK!!

Fellow Falcon Fans,

I live in the Balt/Wash area and I was at today’s game. I was able to personally speak with 4 players after the game. Not one of the came out and said it directly…..but I got a strong sense that they are a bit frustrated with the staff. Especially the offensive play calling.

I’m going to the Washington game and the Philly game……I can only hope that we have a different kind of conversation, after those games.

COACHING OR LACK THEREOF LEADS TO THE TYPE OF INCONSISTENCY THAT WE HAVE. NOTHING MORE…NOTHING LESS. THE TALENT LEVEL OF OUR TEAM (including back-ups)IS ON PAR OR EVEN BETTER THAN MOST TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE. OUR CONCEPTS STINK!!! WE ARE EASY TO FIGURE OUT.

I have really found a “Master Piece in You”. Im going to miss you this coming weekend. You be careful during your trip to the city of brother love. I will see you in 12 days.

As for the Falcons. Bad QB play, weak injury riddled defense, p** poor ST play and jacked up play calling. Im a “confessed” fair weather Falcon Fan and they are close to losing me and the majority of Atlanta. Aint nothing changed. Same Ole Falcons….F*um!!!

Blank Knows Nothing About Football.. Mckay Knows Very Little About His Job.. Mora Was Never!! Much Of An Assistant.. How Can We Expect Him To Be A Head Coach?

We DO-NOT Have The Talent Pool To Be Much Of A Football Team..The NFL Is All About Parity!!!

As Long As The Current Coaching Pool & Talent Pool Remain As The Sum-Whole Of This Franchise..Guess What?..All Youre Gonna Get Is Parity!! One Year Your Team Will Lose Half The Games..Next Year They Will Win Half The Games..But One Year They May Win 1 or 2 More Than They Lose!! PARITY..Get Use To It!!..Its What The NFL Is All About!!

stop pretending not to be racist when the manner of your criticism of vick exposes your racism!

stop calling for schaub. that scrub has completed less than 50% of his passes in the NFL and did zero in college. when exactly has virginia been a powerhouse in the last decade?!?! the schaub fantasy is yet another falcon pr bamboozling just like telling us how great mckay is, how mckay was the next commisioner, how great mora is, how more just had to be hired because knapp was a freaking genius, well if knapp was such an indispenable genius why did arthur not hire knapp instead of the little spoiled brat junior? and the PR machine needs to stop pretending arthur blank sold out the dome. VIck and his talent and the success they have had (and yes they have been to the playoffs twice with vick) is the reason the dome is sold out.

If vick leaves, the games will once again be blacked out and we will be forced to watch teams play that no one cares to watch unless you are one of those degenerate gambler types who gambles on every NFL game.

BUT MV7 i am still angry with you about your little girl giggling after teh game. ARE YOU STILL GIGGLING MICHAEL? THE 4 O’CLOCK GAMES ARE ALMOST OVER AND I AM STILL NOT GIGGLING YET. BUT THEN AGAIN MAYBE ED REED AND MCNAIR REALLY ARE JUST THAT FUNNY AND YOU COULD NOT HELP YOURSELF. WHATEVER. YOU AND YOUR TEAM AND YOUR CAREER AND YOUR SEASON ARE ON THE LINE AND ALL YOU CAN DO IS GIGGLE, GIGGLE, AND GIGGLE SOME MORE ABOUT IT ALL. RAY LEWIS, MANNING, AND BRADY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN GIGGLING LIKE THAT. DAN MARINO, AIKMAN, ELWAY, AND MONTANA WOULD HAVE BEEN STARING STRAIGHT AHEAD LIKE A BUNCH OF SERIAL KILLERS WHEN THEY DID THEIR OBLIGATORY HANDSHAKES. MCNAIR MAY HAVE PUNCHED YOUR LIGHTS OUT IF YOU TRIED JOKING WITH HIM AFTER KICKING HIS TEETH IN but whatever.

i still am grossed out by the racism and hating that is so prevalent on these AJC boards. Maybe someday the ones spitting that stuff out nonstop will get some pubic hair and grow up.

BUT MV7 you are on your own now until you grow up and stop giggling like a little schoolgirl who has to make nice with everyone after getting your teeth kicked in. i will not be defending you against these haters and racist and plain old ignorant morons who are so prevalent on the ajc blogs.

again, when MV7 shows me he cares as much as the rest of us, i will reinvest in mv7. when the rest of the falcons including arthur, mckay, mora, knapp, donatell, et al. show me they care as much as the rest of us, then i will reinvest in the rest of the team. i am just not seeing that at this point and i have not seen it since we were 6-2. the falcons as presently constituted are basically nothing more than a bunch of pretty boy bullies. if they can look real pretty prancing around everyone real fast and they are winning, they hoot and they holler. once they get smacked in the glass jaw, and are not permitted to prance and dance and run around real fast around defenders, they go from bullies to wimps who stay down for the count. pathetic.

mv7 and the rest of the falcons, the fans on here, even the 13 year olds, the racists, the haters, and the ignorant all fight and kick and scream with each other and show more passion, love, hate, venom, and anger than any of you have shown out there the last 3 weeks.

the only player i still admire is dunn because he at least sounds like he is fed up with the lack of effort, coaching, and competitive desire showed by the rest of these clowns week after week. dunn however is part of the problem from a performance standpoint. becausse as good as he is if the coaches can not get him into open space, he is essentially useless because he can not pound the ball and move chains. BUT yet another good move by the overrated mckay to get rid of T.J. who was good for 10 touchdowns a year and for ball movement in the red zone and short yardage situations. now we have no one to move the chains for us unless we are all flying high and allowed to prance around real fast around other teams.

MV7, STILL LOVE YOUR TALENT. BUT, AGAIN, ARE YOU STILL GIGGLING AND PLAYING GRAB AS5 WITH THE RAVENS IN YOUR POST GAME PARTY? BECAUSE FROM THE TONE OF THESE BOARDS, THE REST OF US ARE NOT HAVING ANY FUN AND DO NOT THINK THAT ANYTHING ABOUT THE LAST 3 WEEKS WAS WORTH LAUGHING ABOUT!!!!!

STOP GIGGLING MV7. IT’S ONLY YOUR JOB, YOUR TEAM, YOUR MONEY, YOUR SEASONS, YOUR REPUTATION, AND YES YOUR CAREER THAT HANGS IN THE BALANCE DURING THE NEXT 6 WEEKS

I had the (dis)pleasure of attending the game today and the effort by the special teams was pathetic. Allow over 200 return yards? yeah, that’ll really put your team in a position to win. Vick had to deal with a blitz almost all day and after the 1st half the Ravens defense was all over the place. In order to keep those guys off balance you have to go no huddle some and Vick should have been in the shotgun more. You can run against the Ravens, but the Falcons offensive line isn’t big enough to shove the D around. I thought Vick could have scored a TD on his run, but the team doesn’t have a big back that can run over guys to get to the end zone. He missed the pass to Alge, the fade was a fiasco before it was called. As far as that 12 yard sack goes, you could see the Ravens coming, someone should have called a timeout to a least salvage a field goal.

Any other team in the league would have already made a change at QB by now, but not the Falcons. Schaub doesn’t even get a chance. Hell, even Shock is a better choice right now. gosh, you would have figured that after two embarrassing losses to two teams with losing records that greg knapp would go back to the drawing board and actually have a game plan for the ravens, well what the heck was i thinking? three weeks of p** poor play-calling on offense! knapp doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing. 3rd and goal and the play is a jump ball to a backup tightend with three defenders around him, are you kidding me? 4th and inches in the 1st quarter and don’t run the qb sneak? I have been watching jim mora’s press conferences this year on atlantafalcons.com and they are an eye opener. For a guy that supposedly interviewed so well he says the dumbest things I have ever seen in front of cameras. He is an absolute embarassment to the coaching profession. It’s the same rah rah were not giving up and mike vick is great speech every single week. If you really want to know why our team sucks go to the website posted above and listen to our retarded head coach. This guy is a deer in headlights and this team is not responding to him anymore. Once a team quits on their head coach it is over. No playoffs this year as this team just goes thru the motions and plays out the string. Jimmy Moron and his entire staff must go at seasons end.

how come all the falcons receivers are terrible? are we the worst judges of talent in the league, or is the guy throwing them the ball making them look a lot worse than they are? would reggie wayne be good on this team? maybe the guy with the elastic arms from the fantastic 4 is the only answer. i guess the next stop for this midnight train to hell is for the team to quit on mora. they’ve probably started to figure out he’s falling out of favor with daddy warbucks real, real fast……i wonder if arthur will be bringing in a “consultant” soon to give some “constructive” criticism- a new gig for Bill Walsh?

I just listened to the Mora & Vick press conferences. First, Mora seems obsessed that the media believes the team should quit and pack it in. He confirms that the team will continue giving it their all. Hey Jim, nobody wants to pack it in! Instead of saying you will try harder, why not make some friggin changes!! That’s what this team needs after losing 3 straight. Second, Vick admitted that he should have thrown a better ball to Crump but he continues falling back on his line of “I can’t do everything”. Mike, we don’t expect you to do everything but do expect you to perform the basic plays that QBs make. You are being overtaken by Palmer, E. Manning, Rivers, V. Young, Romo, and others that came after you. Time for you to man up and become a QB or take a hike. Hearing these guys talk reminds me of a failing company where the employees spend 100% of their time covering their arses so as not to be blamed for the downfall. Nothing positive comes out of these scenarios and I hope Mr. Blank sees what is going on.

While Vick did not exactly shine today, he did stand in the pocket for the 2.5 seconds this porous o-line gave him, took some major shots. Someone less mobile than he would truly be in a wheelchair after playing behind this line. Just like Schuerholz’s infamous 10 cent bullpen, this league-minimum offensive line will insure we never get to truly see if Vick is what we think he could be. Vick should have never signed a 10 year deal without assurances we would put some linemen in front of him. Maybe Vick is not the true QB some say, but you cannot judge him as long as his line is junior college dropouts.

By NFL Realist

November 19, 2006 07:57 PM | Link to this

The NFL does not fear Vick anymore. His legs account for less and less and his arm is rarely reliable. I have a hard time believing that every receiver we bring to Atlanta becomes a bust immediately because they don’t have talent. The real problem is the guy throwing the ball. Falcons have mortaged their future on Vick so he will be around for awhile and the birds will continue losing.

By mike

Stop saying haters. That is a word that small minded people use. We don’t hate Vick. We don’t know Vick. We know he can’t make good QB decisions. I wish him well with all he does. I hope he turns it all around next week. Odd are he won’t. its just time for a change. We can’t just keep losing games because of being politically correct. He might be a brilliant guy offf the field. I don’t know. I just know he is not a smart QB. His speed does not work anymore. Im sick of losing. Play someone else. This team has too mcuh talent to watch games get fumbled away, and overthrown away, or underthrown away, or didn’t see the open man away. Get it straight. OJ killed his wife and a waiter and Vick can’t play QB. It does not indict a race.

For those of you you might miss it, this is my best Stephen Colbert impression.

I give up. MV7 played the worst game any qB has ever played in the history of footbal. The low pass to Alge in the endzone could have been caught but wasn’t a good throw, and last two passes were awful, although he was probably tired as hell from running for his life all day. I have been blaming Knapp all season, but nobody could possibly be that bad at playcalling. Therefore I must finally believe that he is calling the only plays that Vick can run.

Obviously MV7 can only throw the ball 10 yards or less, and even then he won’t throw it right. Vick must be completely unable to throw the slant pass, because the Falcons never run one. Vick must be completely unable to throw the deep ball, because the Falcons very rarely ever call a deep pass pattern. The long pass to White was a blown pass protection and that Vick just threw the ball up in the air and White happened to be there. It’s Vick’s fault that even when he completes a pass he ends up getting drilled. It’s Vick’s fault that the Ravens get three 50+ yard returns. It’s Vick’s fault that Norwood only gets two carries per game. Vick should be able to get away from defensive lineman who come at him completely unblocked. Vick should be able to help the receivers get some separation. Vick should change the plays in the huddle if he thinks it’s a bad call, or audible even if the team doesn’t practice audibles. Vick should get in there and throw a block or two so Warrick Dunn can get some space to run.

I want to see Matt Schaub playing just so the coaches can finally open up the playbook. Surely Schaub can get those receivers open, can get some running room for Dunn, can get some separation for the receivers, can tackle the other teams return man. Schaub would have ran right over those three Raven defenders and made a touchdown on the play when Vick gave up and slid on the 5 yard line. At the very least, Schaub would come to the sidelines and scream at his offensive teamates to make sure we all know how bad he wants to win. END OF COLBERT IMPRESSION

You people are pathetic. You sicken me. I see why every good player in any sport in Atlanta wants to get out of here as quick as possible. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vick asks for a trade and takes a pay cut to get away from this team and you ridiculous excuses for fans.

Even the television “experts”, who are always on Vick’s back about his bad play, couldn’t think of anything bad to say about him today. What is the world coming to when Collinsworth and Sharpe can’t find anything rag on MV7. He didn’t throw any picks, because he would rather throw the ball low, so just in case one of those superstar receivers happens to miss it (that has never happened right), there won’t be a deflection that the defense can catch. He didn’t fumble the ball today, even though he ran several times for more yards than any other Falcon, got sacked 5 times, hurried 14 times, and hit 12 times (in only 20 pass attempts).

I’ll always be a Falcons fan, I’ll always be a fan of talented players. We are beat up and this is what happens to beat up teams who are also poorly coached. We still have a chance to win and make the playoffs, as long as this team can believe in itself more than some of you suck-a$$ “fans”. So sell your season tickets, or give them to a real fan who couldn’t ordinarily afford them (like myself). We don’t need you in the Dome with your negative energy anyway.

For all of you saying that Vick did nothing wrong in this game, you should pay attention to the replays and look at how many open receivers he doesn’t see. He can never find the open guy, and when he does, he either makes a terrible throw or throws it 100mph when it should have some touch. The key to a good quarterback is to be consistantly good, which vick simply is not. The coaches and vick both suck and hopefully both will be gone at the end of this year.

vick has not developed or changed in all the years he has been in atlanta. vick is not a good quarterback and never will be. however he is not the problem. the defense is. we need at least 2 linebackers, a corner and a safety. I think you trade schaub for a high second round pick, I do not think you can get a first for him. try to fix the defense. because given the money invested in vick and the sales of his jerseys he is not going anywhere. I think you have to be a realist. No way vick gets benched in atlanta. Also I would not want to be a white quarterback replacing him. One mistake and the media would crucify the qb.

Sports Illustrated is reporting that Jim Mora, Sr. said Vick is a “coach killer” in his weekly radio program on Fox. Look for this to be the controversy this week.

First it’s Donatell & Knapp fighting, then it’s Vick saying to HBO that he wishes he could play for the Colts just one day, and now it’s Mora’s dad saying Vick could cost his son his job. What a mess in Flowery Branch.

Falcons- just throw in the towel, lose the remaining six games so Blank can fire all the coaches, trade the “franchise” qb and a few others and start over with a traditional qb-schaub and company cause it ain’t gonna get any better- I believe Vick has reached his skill limits-he can always run but he doesn’t have what it takes to lead when it counts- its a 16 game season, not 6 … and the coaching staff is clueless. They aren’t very good preparing a team and they sure as heck can’t make changes during a game to adjust to the other teams gameplan. Even the announcers are scratching their heads on some of the playcalling.

First of all, disgusting loss for three weeks in a row. It makes me embarrassed to be a Falcons fan. This team has no heart.

Second, did anyone else see that postgame interview with Mora on 11Alive last week. After being asked how he felt about where his team was, he said, “I love where we are. We are right where we want to be.” WTF?!? Well, Coach, is 5-5 where you want to be? Is out of the playoff hunt where you want to be? Is in the unemployment line where you want to be?

And another thing, we are screwed in this town because we have signed Vick to a ridiculous contract. The two guys on the postgame show on the radio were making the case that Vick is our best bet because he fills the stands at the dome. Would you people rather win or watch Vick? Because it is an “either/or” situation. I personally choose winning.

I’ll be curious to see how this season plays out… Fans will be leaving in droves if they continue to play with no heart.

We are going to have a losing season .. Might as well let Schaub take the remaining snaps .. Dump Vick at the end of the season, start Schaub and recruit a 6-3+ tall QB for the team .. I think the receivers did fine today .. Did you see how many times Vick’s passes were short of the receivers? I thought our receivers were pathetic .. White & Jenkins are young and have developed pretty well .. Now we need a QB .. Pathetic .. I still can’t believe that the Falcons fans are dumb enough to cheer for Ron Mexico .. We would have been better off with Leinart than Vick .. Even if we would have had a losing record this year, you know damn well that Leinart will prosper into an excellent QB .. Sucks to be a Falcon fan :o(

Hey Dirty Birdie..stop the crap. Nothing on here against Vick is due to racism. Good lord, would you people stop with that already?? And yes I said “you people”. Quit playing the race card..it does not work anymore. Fans are upset that the Falcons keep losing and Vick is one of the reasons. He is not accurate with passes..when he is off the field is he talking with his receivers..maybe talking with the other players trying to inspire them?? Hell NO..he just sits there staring into space with a blank expression on his face. Wathc Peyton Manning between possesions..he is on the phone with the OC and he is talkng to his receiver and offensive line. Thats what good QB’s do!! So shut up with the race card crap and understand that Vick is way over paid and over rated. He has got to go!! So do you….

Unless serious personnel changes are made at beginning of off-season (which will be day after game against Philly, and should start with entire coaching staff), I’m done with season tix. I’ll take the money and play golf on Sundays (what am I doing being inside a dome on a beautiful fall day anyway?) at some nice courses around town for 10 weekends. I’m not a bandwagon fan - been a fan since I was a little kid - but this is ridiculous. Too much talent and just a sense of apathy and/or pie-in-the-sky.

The talk of pressure on Vick is valid, however I see qbs that stand in under a heavy rush and ether find a receiver or throw the ball away.Bottom line is this combo isn’t working and I can think of 130 million reasons Vick will stay put, nobodys going to bench the franchise so good luck Mora and company, hope you put something back for a rainy day.

Got my club level lease renewal the other day. They are going up an additional $1,000/seat/year. Mmmmmmm. At a cost of $5,000 for 2 seats, do I really want to renew considering the way they have played during the last two years? Since I have had the same two seats since the Dome opened in 1992, I believe I have just about had enough.

Wonder how I will spend my ~$1500 next year since I won’t be renewing my season tickets. I thought Mr. Blank and Rich McKay did a decent job this offseason to bring in talent to win “today”. Our defense at least trys but have run into injuries and we have no depth. Our offense lead by our talented but confused QB is not helping either. I was in the restroom at the Browns game last week and someone was remarking about our defense. I said you need to score more than 14 points to win. Not sure what the answer is but something needs to be done and needs to be done now or we will be sitting home again with ANOTHER losing season. So long birds. Maybe if you start taking this seriously other people will too. Maybe I’ll take a trip with the money I will save and go see a real team.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Jim Mora is between a rock and a hard place. He has a black quarterback, who is not quarterback, in a black town, with black leaders. He will NEVER be allowed to bench Vick, he will never be allowed to trade Vick. I will bet you a months pay Jim Mora will be fired before Michael Vick is benched.

Were Vick benched we would see riots, we would see the so-called experts screaming racism and even the civil rights whores Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton would be in ATL organizing demonstrations.

Face it people we are stuck with Michael Vick and that’s just the way it’s going to be…even if we remain a poor team, even if his only completions are to the ground. Matt Staub will never start in this town as long as Michael Vick is here.

As an African American I get tired of other African American saying people are racist for criticizing Vick. The quarterback position is the most scrutinized position on the team. Every quarterback that has ever played the game has been criticized at one time or another. The fact remains with the exception of a couple of games this season Vick has not performed to the level that his salary would dictate. For the most part he has played average at best. No it is not totally Vick’s fault, but the quarterback has more influence over the outcome of a game than any position on the team. Thus fair or not the quarterback gets the bulk of the credit when the teams wins and he gets the bulk of the blame when the team loses. Michael Vick and his supporters should not be so thin skinned when it comes to criticism. If he wants the criticism to go away all he has to do is play better.

For all of you Vick bashers….he may not perform in a game breaking way every week, but at least we know that he is a proven winner…..he was progressing very nicely up until the last two years when he started looking rather normal….at what point do you Vick haters start questioning the coaching staff??? The after talk about Lovie Smith is not going to do any good now, but look at the job that he is doing with a quaterback that I dare any one to say that they would rather have than Micheal Vick. The Chicago bears are a 9-1 team, and that city hates Rex Grossman. The bears coincidentally won the game by scoring only 10 points…..what coach is the real defensive guru???? Grossman’s numbers were very similar to Vick’s. Does Vick needs to pass for more yards for the falcons to win??? I just read where Drew Brees passed for over 500 yards today, and his team still lost 31-16. Go figure???? It looks like we are headed for another collapse in the second half of the season. Vick bashers please tell me…at what point do you start looking at the coaching staff? What makes coaches like Tony Dungy, Bill Parcells, Charlie Wies and Bill Bilichiek successful year end and out??????

OK folks here, it is—-and this is going to hurt. 1. Have any of you spoken to any of Vick’s professors at VPI? I have—know many quite well. All say the same thing—he’s mentally challenged(defective)—should never have been admitted. He can’t grasp fundamental situatinal events—-complex thinking(pro football offense) is WAY beyond his capabilities. Be kind Mr. Blank—let him go —quickly. To keep him amounts to cruelty. Mora is 3rd rate—all the other NFL coaches know it—got the job through “daddy” connections. Mental illness differs greatly from incompetence—the Falcons now have both.

Hey guys,

Vick is not the problem.

He is the most talented individual I have ever seen play this game. Therein lies the rub.

If you use him as a drop-back quarterback, you are wasting his talent as a runner. If you use him as a West Coast Offensive quarterback, you are wasting one of the most powerful arms I’ve ever seen. If you use him running an option offense, you show him off to his best advantage, but his weakness is that he does not throw well on the run. I’ve even seen them try to use him as a roll-out quarterback, but the OL folded.

The coaching staff has yet to develop a game plan which lets Vick be all these things throughout the course of the game. The plays are too predictable, the defense reacts and Vick tries to invent. The OL collaspes and Vick looks inept. It will take a coach with a great deal more imagination than Knapp to use Vick to the fullest extent of that amazing talent. Vick is not the problem; the plays that are called for him are the problem.

Put Archie,Eli,or Payton behind Atl’s offensive line and give them the same plays Knapp gives Vick and watch them or whoever become a .500 Qb. Give them a running game that can’t consistently run the ball and let the game ride on their arm and their athletic ability alone and watch them become very mediocre QB’s. Let them consistently have to score 24 points to tie or win and see what happens. If that were to happen and Mike Vick played for Indianapolis and their offensive line, people in Atl would be wanting to trade Eli or Payton for Vick. THink about it.

Vick is ranked 26 of 30 QBs in the league. Those below Vick include Bledsoe (who is now benched) and Lienart who is in his first year.

You literally would have a hard time getting worse than Vick in the NFL.

The Falcons have not had a passing TD in the 4th quarter in 15 games. Vick went 11 for 20 today. 80 some odd yards. He missed a open Crumpler from 5 yards away to cost us a TD.

Say what you will about play calling but I bet the coaching staff has been looking at the stats and figured out we have a better chance running the ball in almost all cases.

I AM SICK OF ALL YOU IDIOTS THAT KEEP CALLING FOR VICK TO BE REPLACED. Its obvious that there is some type of mental block that you have that makes you only see what you want to see. I played for Florida from 92-96 and I know that winning starts with the head coach that establishes a vision that the team, coaches included buy into: Philosophy, Preparation, Execution = Accomplishment. This team is not a well coached or disciplined team, dont get me wrong there is enough talent (players) but they dont have the correct management team (coaching staff) in place to get the most out of each player. The problem with this team is coaching, so before you armchair experts who sit and watch and hope for Vick to make a mistake so that you can take it out of context and say I told you so look at the WHOLE game AND JUDGE IT OVERALL: Philosophy, Preparation, Execution. Vick IS NOT THE PROBLEM IN ATLANTA. LEADERSHIP IS THE PROBLEM.

I know people have mentioned Mike Martz, Ken Wisenhunt, and Jimmy Johnson’s name as a possible replacement for DUMBA** Jim Mora, but how about Jeff Fisher. Analysts have mentioned on numerous occasions this season could possibly be his last with the Titans. If he does get let go at the end of the season, wouldn’t he be a pretty good candidate to coach the Falcons. Case in point:

1) He’s a proven football coach. Tennessee was one of the top AFC Teams of the last ten years or so, until the salary cap really took it’s toll on the franchise and it was forced to rebuild.

2) He has experience with a Quarterback like Vick. He knew the strengths of Steve McNair and was able to surround him with players, coaches, and a scheme that fit those unique talents. He developed Steve McNair into a good NFL Quarterback and he probably could do the same for Vick.

3) He won’t take St from these players. The Falcons don’t need someone on the sideline to smoke and joke with, they need someone to rip their A when they make mistakes pop warner teams know not to do. They need discipline in that locker room. They need someone who’s not a yes man to the owner and will tell him to get the hell off the sideline.

I think he would be an interesting idea for a coach if he were to become available, but either way someone other than Jim Mora than likely to lose his job soon and his offensive coordinator Greg Crap needs to come in and right this ship.

Interviewed on Fox Sports Radio’s Out of Bounds, former NFL coach Jim Mora was asked by co-host Craig Shemon if Michael Vick — the franchise quarterback for the team coached by Mora’s son — was a ‘coach killer’?

“I think you’re correct,” Mora answered. “And it worries me a little bit because my son is the head coach down there, ya know? But he’s a great athlete, my son likes him a lot, he’s a good kid. But he’s not a passer. And you need a passer at quarterback to be successful consistently in the National Football League. And he ain’t gettin’ it done in that category. I agree with you.”

Willy, the rushing numbers have been skewed all season. Vick skews the numbers because he creates runs on(Scrambles).Busted plays many times. The only true measure of an offensive line and the running game is the yardage gained by the running backs and by the amount of time a QB has to throw the ball and how many sacks they allow. Atlanta’s O-line hasn’t blocked for Dunn well lately and they haven’t given Vick enough time consistently to ever feel comfortable in the pocket.Take away Vick’s runs today and Atl. doesn’t score at all. Take away Vick’s running to keep drives alive all year and I think you will see how futile our running game is. And it all starts with controlling the line of scrimmage.

Monty the offense was build as a zone trap blocking scheme to compliment Vicks abilitys and smaller quick backs. after the HBO interview the blocking was changed as more of a pass blocking type.In a perfect world this could be changed from play to play but in practice its a bit harder. PS five weeks ago Dunn was second in yardage also over a five yard average per carry and Norwood was first in average per carry in the league.

The problem is not Vick. The problem is Knapp. Do any of you recall the 4 and inches play. If you have 4th and inches or 1 yard, you better run a play that can get you one yard. The PA guy was on that call when they motion to the left and then tried to run to the left. My take, we have a 300 pound TE and a 240 pound FB/TB. People Dunn is 7 yards behind the LOS and weighs 180. Please use your heads. The defense is stack at the line and will shoot every gap. But the falcons tipped there hand with the motion. The defense slant left and kill the play.

The reverse was a killer. Evey team in the NFL knows Vick run bootlegs. Therefore, they have a guy for backside contains. People it is a sin if you do not contain the backside when playing Vick. The guy killed the play. While I am talking about the boot, I wrote Knapp and asked to pull a guard when Vick runs the boot. He said NO! This will hurt the stretch play. Well that play is not working too well. The guard could block the contain guy and this will give Vick the option to run/throw. You learn this in middle school football. Knapp can not coach on that level.

Last point why would you keep kicking the ball to the same guy that keep beating you. I would kick the ball away from that person or kick it out of bounds. I would rather have a 35 yard punt instead of a 50 yard return. These people could not coach middle school.

The coach the falcons need is Charlie Wies. The offense will be better and will not run the same plays. Some where Dan Reeves is ROFLMAO. Give Reeves this team and they go to the Super Bowl.

Steve T I would agree that Vick isn’t THE PROBLEM!! but he makes it very hard for a coach. When you play the best in the world both athliticly and smarts wise, who prepare for you, having a qb that has great ability but limits what you can do is a problem for the other teams coach but also for Knapp and Mora. Mora has struggled to fit a scheme with Vicks talents, that is limiting to a certain number and type of plays, and coachs catch up after awhile.

Why did someone mention the lions. Do you people recall how Roy Williams beat us on the slant all day. If we had a real DC, he would have drop someone down to bump Williams and route him to the outside. Then he could have played a cat and mouse game. He could line the DB up on williams and then drop off in the last seconds into the zone because the QB would not call the slant. Then he would show zone and then drop down at the last few seconds to take way the slant. Now that is coaching.

Jimmy Johnson would be the best hire. We will not have those small guys on the OL. Johnson like big boys 330 pounds and up.

All the screaming and hollering in the world isn’t going to change what’s going on in Atlanta! It’s time for fans to BOYCOTT the games until we get the attention of these over paid ” I’m not like you ” so called, super stars! My humble opinion is that, we are being robbed by the owners, treated like nobody’s by the players, and asked week in and out to accept half hearted efforts on the field. The games are televised every week, and if you stay home and watch it a couple of games you won’t miss the crap we’ve been seeing live! You will however cause the pockets of the owners to shrink, and that will get someones attention. MR. BLANK, IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SEE YOUR FAN BASE DRY UP, YOU NEED TO CLEAN HOUSE!!! GET RID OF ALL THE (OVER PAID) SUPER STARS AND GIVE US A TEAM THAT WANTS TO PLAY BECAUSE THEY LOVE THE GAME. THEN YOU CAN AFFORD TO CUT TICKET PRICES AND ALLOW THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE FOOTBALL TO SEE THE SPORT PLAYED AGAIN THE WAY IT SHOULD BE PLAYED, THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL WE HAVE A SPORT TO BE PROUD OF AGAIN……I’m not very proud of the sport right now, and not very happy that our children won’t ever learn the game of football as a sport, but rather a game of money at all cost! I know that it takes money to run a team, but football is (or was) supposed to be intertaining, right now I have a really sick feeling about it!!

WILLIESEE, my comments were directed at those who blame one individual for the Falcons failures. When Vick has a good game, or the team wins, these morons are silent. There is a definite difference between constructive criticism and bashing or hating. EXAMPLE: our special teams gave up an average or 61yds on 3 punt/kickoff returns, which put the Ravens in the redzone. These 3 plays put tremendous pressure on our DEF, and the Ravens were able to score 17pts. Anyone watching the game could see that special teams play was the difference in this game. Yet, certain idiots ignore these obvious facts and focus on Vick, and Vick alone, for the loss.

You can’t ignore the fact that when Black QB’s don’t measure up to a Payton Manning or Tom Brady, certain racist morons blame it on a lack of intelligence. They are doing it now to Vick, they did it to Batch(when he was in Detroit), Cordell Stewart(when he was in Pittsburg), Takeli Smith(when was in Cinn) and Aaron Brooks(when he was in NO), to name a few. But, none of these racist morons are questioning Big Ben’s intelligence for having a low QB rating, while leading the NFL in interceptions and the Steelers to one defeat after another. There have been no comments about CSimms intelligence after his collapse at TB. In fact, I have never heard of any white QB’s intelligence being used as an excuse for failure, and a lot of them have failed.

So, my issue is not about being critical of Vick, IT’S ABOUT ONLY BEING CRITICAL OF VICK NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES MIGHT BE. I hope you can see the difference.

I saw two opportunities for TDs today, and it all comes back to greg Knapp. The first was a pass to Crumpler, and the second was Vick throwing a jump pass. Those are designed plays. Ken,

Still disparaging those who question Vick’s intelligence I see. Today’s opponent also has a black quarterback but I don’t question his football intellect and I’ve not seen anyone else do so either. Of the other quarterbacks you mentioned, Batch, in my opinion is by far the best. I think he’s very talented. Much more so than Vick. Vick has been in the league six years now. He’s no longer a kid and to say he’s still learning is absolute hogwash! That’s the problem. He hasn’t learned. In six years, he’s had two stellar games and those came this season, against the Steelers and against the Bengals. He played exceptionally well in those two games but that’s it! It’s time to remove him from the lineup and try someone else. Since mid-season, of last year, the Falcons have won seven while losing eleven. The prospects for the future, with Vick, don’t look all that great. it’s time for a change. And please stop with the cries of “racist” for those who point out that Vick does not appear to possess intellect of an acute nature. His race is his race just as mine is mine. He’s not being criticized for his ethnicity. He’s being criticized because his performance stinks. Time to move him out and move on!

No qb would be good with that o-line that is known league-wide for being undersized. Who cares if they’re “fast” because that doesnt help a damn to pass block! No qb would be good with Take-a-Knapp calling the plays. Or the human child Mora on the sidelines.

Our coaching staff is a joke. Everyone knows how talented we are on both sides of the ball, o-line and whoever is playing corner opposite Hall not counting. Only reason we went 11-5 in Mora’s first season is because we had a weak schedule from our 5-11 season in ‘03.

FIRE THE COACHING STAFF.

I’ll tell you why the players were smiling…despite this horrible stretch, they have a chance to move into first place next week with a win over NO and a Panther loss. In terms of tie-breakers, the Browns/Ravens losses mean nothing, and they should be getting some players back. Look for the offense to have a big game next week.

After reading all of these it is time that all the Atlanta fans wake up and get real. Yes the coaches are a lot to blame but the unltimate blame goes to the players first and foremost. The defense can do only so much with the injuries they have had this season and the offense well enough said get a QB that can actually play the position in the NFL and then maybe the Falcons could win. Vick is just plain bad as a pro QB and at this stage with his salary he should be a top 5 QB every year without question.

I am so tired of hearing how good Vick is when week after week his numbers are as bad as they can possibly be. All these teams do is mix up the defensive skeems and Vick is a lost puppy on the field. Mora let’s grow some and put the real QB from this team on the field and see what happens.

How many years has he been pretentding to be an NFL QB?????? He pulled one over on “ya’ll” and ran off with all that cash for not performing - AWESOME ARTHUR, way to evaluate talent

I am not a coach. but maybe a look at the falcons this way might help all. your season is just about over as for a playoff is concerned. so to make everyone happy the PRO Vicks. and the NON PRO Vicks. start a new QB see what happens. if it goes south then the PRO Vicks can say see it was not Mikes fault. if it goes well then the Non PRO Vicks can say see told you it was his fault. Then at last an end to all this QB crap.

Don’t tell me anyone would trade Vick for Tomlinson……Dan Reeves gave us Vick, and now Tomlinson is considered the best back since Jim Brown.

Jokes on Atlanta, Vick’s not even a quarterback…….he stinks in the passer ratings, why he’s at the bottom of the league, and Tomlinson…….well he is at the top of the league.

I think we really need a coaching change. I’m still p** about the 4th and 1 call last week that resulted in an interception.

Why is it that the other team make adjustments at halftime but we don’t? The coaches have lost the respect of the players and they don’t seem motivated. It seems most of them are thinking “give me my paycheck, so I can go home.”

Did you people watch the same game I watched?

Everyone is putting the blame on VICK. Vick did not have time to throw the ball. He was sacked 5 times and was hit over 13 times.

What QB in the league would have been successful today?? The O line was very bad.

Its time to dump the West coast offense, chop blocking, and get some lineman with some size.

Its strange that Vick can perform and be the MVP of the Pro Bowl and under Dan Reeves but not under this coaching staff.

By Peter

The average QB in the leagues is about 6’ 3’, the best are taller…..they can see over the incoming rush to dump the ball quickly……….they are probably not smoking(420), so they can make decisions quickly as well………..

We got “Little Miky Vick”, he is so small, cute and cuddly, have you seen him run lately?

Listed at 6’0”….. I doubt he is that tall!

The difference b/w Michael Vick and other quarterback is that the other quarterbacks have someone to bail them out when they mistakes however Michael Vick does not have anyone else to help him on this team. Dunn is done as a running back. He is getting worse each game. The receivers can’t catch. The Defense can’t stop the run. The offensive line can’t protect the quarterback. Coaches refuse to coach or make adjustments in the game. What quarterback can win in those situations when the whole team is a failure. David Carr has not won in those conditions so why should we expect Vick to because of his contract. I would not risk injury with this coach staff because their lack of preparation can get someone hurt out there on the field. This team is done for 2006. Axes will fall on the coaching staff.

Hey BY ne_atl…….The records so far this year is 5-5, and 8-2, beating a great team away from home last night…….

Vick is a Fran Tarkinton want to be in another era, only he can’t throw accuratly on the run…….see pass to open Crumpler in the End Zone Yesterday!

The Minnisota fans know the tale of the too short QB, who can run around……..see 0-4 in the Super Bowl!

I have to laugh, even the guys on the sports show say, “well Vick doesn’t have a great passer rating or stats, but he can win……”

His winning percentage is going down fast, and looks out of the game when they are behind…….

I believe allot of it is coaching not all Vick’s fault, but when the coaches are gone and so is Schwab…….we still won’t have a good NFL starting QB in Vick!

And Tomlinson scored 4 TDs last night against the stingest scoring Defense in the entire league!

He stepped up, did VICK….????

So stop looking for excuses to blame Vick, and take the lost and move on.

It is apparent that there is a great deal of interest in a winning team.

For all of you who have forgotten, MORA in NO (father) had similar luck in achieving Play-off Status. So why are you riding Vick or any of the other players?? If thier abilities are not properly used or inabilities, depending upon what side of the fence you are on, the coaches must own up to the responibilities and correct the issues. At the end of the day, the decisions that are made on the field and fielding personnell need to be validated to the Head Coach or there are consequences, so, where are the consequences?

Another point everyone seems to address lightly: This is not the first time we have seen an owner run a team into the ground either. It happens.

My point: Leadership is the key to victory and this team is begging for it. From the owner, from the management, from the coaches and then finally, the players. Once leaders are in place, then it can determined what personnel is needed to move this team to a competitive position. All the other commentary is piontless, unless you are an Rx company and this is great, look at all the exclamation points - - I am sure high blood pressure and all the other goodies are along side it. Final prognosis for this season - - break out the basters, this bird is cooked.

ATL, chill out, all we want for Christmas is a coach!

This coaching staff is toast. At this point, you might as well bench Vick and let Shockley get some time in. All he can do is lose and why would that be worse than now. Do you folks forget that out of the wins we have, probably, because of the play calling, we should have lost at least 2 of them.I couldn’t stomach to watch the game more than 5 minutes. After 2 possessions of run, run, run, punt, I gave up so I can’t comment on the game in particulat except that when I looked at the score after the game, I was prepared for the result. Vick may very well become decent with good coaching and a little discipline or do they do that in the NFL anymore. To hear that he was smiling after the game, makes me sick. Or is it the smile of a dunce. I had high hopes for Vicky at the beginning of the season but I think it was half hopefulness and half listening to every TV analyst salivate all over him about how exciting he is and how great he is. Well if that was ever so, the coaches and even Vicky and his prima donna attitude, have destroyed that here in Atlanta. Unless we get some decent coaches here, Vicky is destined to any greatness elsewhere, if any. And as another put it, he needs to get serious and take responsibility for this team which means being so angry about the results, that it carrys over to next week. Not giving skin and talking bout jewelry and rims to his buddies on the other team. There’ll be time for that after you win, Vicky………with some luck, we might be .500 at the end. Wake up, Arthur…..so far Sid’s winning the Depot race for Atlanta’s heart.

THIS IS THE ULTIMATE BLOG… . There are two Trophy’s held up at the end of the Year in the Super Bowl, One the Vince L and the Most Valuable Player. Now the bottom line question is, The team and owner recieve one and the MVP the other. I can’t see that happening under this coaching crew. Because we all know that If Mr. Vince L. or Parcells was coaching the Falcons they would definatly put some fire on these players. There would be no communication problems. Parcells’ win against the Colts was a great game. This guy is a real Man and I don’t think he enjoy’s loosing. I would think that If Mr. Vince “L” were alive he would have this coaching crew and entire roster “crying” regardless of the salary’s that are made. Fans please know that the main Trophy is named after a Coach, not a player. Michael Vick does have special skills unlike many, but my argument is that he is not quite using them under knapp and Mora well. I have seen great MVP plays but a Real Man coach, maybe like Lovie Smith (whom we should have had here)… would have helped Vick grow into a QB unlike anything you have seen on this Planet. There is way too much locked up inside most players that are great or posses greatness that need to be Illuminated so the world can see. I can’t tell Mr. Blank how to spend “his” money, but if It were my money, I would not be paying these players so much until I see production. Does home Depot give Bonuses and raises if you do well? But this is a game and we “must” remember this. For me growing up it was a game and a coach could get on you and correct you if you made a bad play. Now I feel that in any sport,(Basketball and Baseball included), if you make a certain salary over the coaches, how can they coach if intimidated. We need a Man that can lead a team and possibly have the Ultimate prize named after himself. Remember the Vince “L” is named after a Coach, not a player. Who will be This Years **MVP?????

pitiful.

That is an adjective.

It is a word that describe my beloved Falcons.

Hell I’ve been a fan since prime time was on the team.

Now the coach and his staff are mostly 49whyners products. And TO did have a falling out for a damn good reason with the fortywhyners!

Mora isnt an offensive coach - he not even a defensive coach he was a former coordinator for goodness sakes. That is like hiring Jesse Tuggle to be the manager of Varsity. He may be got money but he doesnt have skills.

If it works then why the heck u wanna fix it? Go back and review them tapes of the games that you won!

Shoot we need some new blood on the offensive lines - they need to keep blocking until the whistle is blown not wait till the rusher/ball carrier runs by then and they take a walk to the next play.

I was watching the cowboys vs colts and the chargers vs the broncos.

The offensive was explosive!

I was like wow! Wish we have that kind of protection for our QB and RB and the X and Y and Z. But we dont even have that kind of protection.

Mr. Blank point blank you really need to reevalute where we going to go next season with this sorry trifling coach and his staff.

I rather have John Madden coaching my team than Jim Mora!

So sad.

If we lose next sunday against the Saints - kiss the playoffs goodbye and the season become an audition for next season.

Where is Travis Hall????!?!?!?

I was hopping the falcons could win just to see the look on Ray Lewis face. Ray, and T.O. two oversized inflated ego bags of farts. As for our birds, Like I said last time, they needed this win. Now unless they win all of the next five games, its over. And for some reason, I dont feel they Will win the next 5 games straight. I dont know what the problem is. I only know I will continue to watch our birds on TV. but to spend big bucks to see them spirial down like they been doing, I dont think so. I am disappointed from the 3 in a row lost, but I still have my cash in my pocket. I would have been mad as hell had I paid to see the last 3games. 1. I don’t like Ray Lewis either, mainly because he shows us what having heart is, and by comparison to the Falcons ‘heart’, is makes our lack of giving a “S^$t” even more obvious.

  2. For those Vick defenders, it is not just his inconsistent play on the field that hurts us. Clearly the defense ran out of gas in the second half and the ST play was bad. But, when 1/2 your salary cap goes to a single player, you dont have much money left to sign decent 2nd stringers. The reason the Falcons are always more effected with injuries than other teams, is that Vick hogs all the salary cap, and we can’t get anyone else.

Vick, if you realyl do care about the team, do a “chipper”, renegotiate your contract, free up some cap room, and let Donotel go sign some better backups.

I didn’t expect us to win against the Ravens especially in Baltimore, so I’m not surprised. However, I’m still p** because we lost to Detroit and Cleveland!! I’ve been a falcons fan for well over 20 years and I HOPE they don’t make the playoffs!! Why should they? This team and this coaching staff isn’t capable of winning ANYTHING this year!! I would like to see what a healthy defense and a NEW offensive coordinator can do next year.

Anybody that can solely blame Vick for this lost is on CRACK!! Did he cause the 5(five) sacks on himself? Did he allow those long runs on special teams?

I’m not saying Mike is perfect. Anybody that knows anything about football should know that Mike Vick hasn’t really been “coached” to be a great QB. He has always been told to “go out and be Mike Vick”. He definitely wasn’t “coached” in college or high school. I think Dan Reeves coached him better than Jim Mora. Gee ne_atl……..I agree with you…….BUT with a 6’5” QB who can really play, the BEST back in the league, and a wonderful defense…….seems like San Diego is in the playoff hunt……. 8-2 number 1 in their division…… we are third falling fast, and about to challange Tampa Bay for the basement!

So what will we be……. 8 - 8, 7 - 9, or maybe 6 - 10……..no shot at a SB ring under .500!!!!!!

Which year will we actually be able to challange for the SB ring?

I’d take Tomlinson, and Schwaub over what we got today!

Vick probably has the worse passer rating in the league, of any starting QB…..Ok maybe Charlie Frye’s is worse…….BUT he BEAT us in Atlanta, and he is a second year player, not a Veteran player like VICK!

And Please…… don’t tell me he DIDN”T MISS a wide open Crumpler in the end zone Yesterday! The announcers even said…….that is a play you have to make!

No leadership from Vick…..sulking on the sideline……

What was the famous line from Vick 3 weeks ago after the two games he did well……… “if we don’t beat Detroit, it won’t mean nothing!”

0-3 since that statement…… That is some real leadership!

HA HA HA……… Watch Vick run, cause he can’t throw accuratly!

This is not Vicks fault just read the blogs above. I mean if we had an offensive coordinator who could find recievers with hands on thier backs and the bottom of thier feet and arms 15 feet long Vicks passes would be catchable! Therefore its not Vick its the coaches right?! Vick moved up 2 spots this week he is now 32nd in QB rating and looks worse than that! Only an idot would blame Mike Vick for this loss. Mike was not on the field when a 31 year old running back was sprinting like Barry Sanders. Mike was not on the field when the specialty game gave up those three big runs. If you wnat to blame someone , blame those slow azz white boys paid to block for him. I am a HUGE Falcon fan. I used to be a season ticket holder ‘til I had kids & couldn’t go anymore except to 1 or 2 games per year. But I live & die with this team. And we are dying. Let’s look at the situation objectively, without everyone screaming. Something has to change. Is this team getting rid of Vick, a player they’ve invested in heavily? No. And he’s proven he can be successful, albeit inconsistent. So, what has to change if not Vick? The coaching staff, obviously. I don’t think Jimmy boy will be canned just yet, so that leaves the coordinators. Donatell will probably get a pass because of the injury situation, allright, I’ll accept that. That means, ta da! Greg Knapp has GOT TO GO. It’s time to cut our losses & accept the simple fact that this offense, whatever the he— you want to call it, west coast, whatever, does not work for Vick. Period. Elmo the offensive coordinator calls the worst games, all of the national TV guys see it, & comment in a “nice” way on it. The man is a complete idiot. He only got this job b/c of his friendhip with Mora. So, Mr. Blank, you will have to give Jimmy an ultimatum, either Knapp goes, or you both go. Mr. Blank has paid too much money to accept this result & risk alienating the fan base. I hate that Vick would have to learn a new offense yet again, but just put in a meat & potatoes offense that is makes sense, & for God’s sake, let the man audiblize at the line of scrimmage. Let’s give him a chance & see if he can handle it. He will never be the most accurate passer but he is a weapon, pure & simple, play to his strengths of which there are many. It’s obvious that this offense does not believe in themselves, they are not functioning as a unit & are not well coached. Also, they offensive line has got to be rebuilt. Denver is an abberation, we need big bodies to block for our star player!! Things cannot continue as they are, it doesn’t matter how hard you fight, Mora, when you’re only banging your head against a brick wall. I prayed they would prove me wrong & beat the Ravens, but things went exactly as I feared. The defense held up as long as they could but with so many players pulling double duty on defense as well as spec. teams, they got tired & ran down. And our offense still couldn’t score! When Roddy White made that great catch, I said, same as last week. He makes the catch & then we do nothing after that. Exactly the same. I see us winning half of our remaining games, I really do. I won’t give up on this team, but what’s going to be any different unless big time changes are made & fast. Brian Billick wasn’t afraid to see things weren’t working on his offense, & pull the plug. Oh but wait, he isn’t best friends & next door neighbors with his coordinator. Smart guy. Also, please shut up Jim Mora Sr., you’re not helping anything & your son is a grown man who doesn’t need his Daddy covering his a*. I’m out, can’t wait for next week when Deuce McCallister is running all up & down our butts & Elmo calls plays for our 3rd string tight end. Weee!!!

Sharon, if Vick’s salary prevents the Falcons from signing ANYONE ELSE (go look up what the term salary cap means), and the Falcons have no defensive depth, no top 10 receivers, and no Special Teams players, then the problem IS Vick. It’s both his play and his salary cap hit. Either he is good enough to overcome inferior teammates, or he isnt good enough and he needs better teammates. Pick it.

To all the people saying that the Falcons will never contend for the title with Vick at QB, other than 1998, when have the Falcons ever contended for the title? There is no QB in the league who can consistantly throw accurate passes while running for his life. Look at Peyton Manning last night. Look at Tom Brady in his 2 previous games before yesterday. Being a great passing QB doesn’t mean you can win a title (Marino, Moon, Manning). Being a not so great passing QB doesn’t mean that you can’t win a title (Rothlesberger, Dilfer, McMahon). It’s funny how everyone thinks their opinion is the best and everyone who doesn’t agree is stupid. NFL coaches and players who look at game film and break down offenses know that Vick is a great QB who if given time to throw is accurate and if on the run is a double threat. The throw to Crumpler in the endzone was neither a great nor terrible throw. He lead him a little too much given the situation but the ball was still catchable and was caught and jarred loose by the ground. I saw Manning make the same type throw but Marvin Harrison held on to the ball. Then you complain that he should throw the ball away to avoid being sacked. He did that 5 times yesterday leading to 11 for 21 in passing stats which. Having to throw the ball away so much leads to a lot of incompletions and a lower passer rating. The QB gets all the blame and credit on thrown balls. J.P. Losman threw two passes yesterday that should have been for 15 yards apiece, but his receiver turned them both into 70 yard TD’s. Those weren’t great pass plays but Lossman gets credit for great plays by a receiver. Even great passing numbers don’t equal wins. Drew Brees threw for 510 yards and still lost the game. Ben Rothlesberger throws the ball 40 to 50 times a game and throws for over 300 yards in most of their games and is 3-6(Remember Batch won the first game). Look at all the aspects of the game and learn that it takes everyone doing their indivdual job from blocking to running routes to passing to catching to running after the catch for a QB to look good or bad. Another thing, if a QB is not allowed to audible, he is a sitting duck on blitzes like Vick was on numerous occasions in the 2nd half. Reading defenses does you no good if you are not allowed to change the play at the line following your read.

vick is the problem. mcnair was under pressure as well. however he was able to see it coming and get the ball out. the difference is that vick starts bailing out and trying to run. instead of throwing to a receiver. there was one play where the camera angle was behind vick and about a second after he got the ball he started to run. you could see all of the receivers stop. they knew the play was over for them. rich gannon, an announcer and long time qb also said that the recievers are not involved. who’s fault is it when a team scores 14, 13 and 10 points. stop talking about play calling. that is a poor excuse. it is execution. if vick knows he is not going to get a lot of time he needs to make quick decisions and get rid of the ball. the west coast offense is designed for short passes to recievers and runniing backs. how many catches do the running backs have.

For all you Racist Vick haters who say there’s is no way you trade L.T. for Vick I will tell yall something that yall are too racist to see, Vick and L.T. both been in the league 6 years and in 6 years L.T. has NEVER lead his team to a playoff Victory. That means L.T. can’t do it by himself. Vick on the other hand has won twice as many playoff victories than L.T. with 2 and Vick took his team to the NFC Championship game, L.T. with a better team can’t even get his team to the 2nd round let alone the AFC Championship. So after looking at all the facts this tells me that if Vick was in San Diego they would be winning and if L.T. was in Atlanta we would have had injury prone Chris Chandler at QB, Doug Johnson backing him up NO MATT SCHAUB and this offense outside of L.T. would have been horrible and we would have no winning seasons no playoff appearances let alone victories. So racist Vick haters be careful what you wish for. HOLLA! GO FALCONS!

Steve Mcnair was pressured in the 1st half and they scored 0 pts. had 15 yrds rushing and about 60 passing. In the 2nd half there was no pressure and they scored 24 points. You can’t throw quick routes when your receivers are not running quick routes and you can’t audible into a quick slant when you see a blitz coming. By the way, the rbs had 5 receptions and Griffith lead the team with 4.

People get a life, there is no way to trade Mike Vick, his contract is too large for him to be traded, no team will pay his price. So please get off the trade Mike Vick issue, we hear that every day.

Mike Vick was not the person run blocking yesterday. How many sacked do you think Schaub would have had yesterday if Vick had 5 and can run???

Worst call of the year is 4th and 1 and giving the ball to Dunn on a sweep instead of QB sneaking the ball.

Were there any slants routes called or even inthe game plan against the blitzing ravens. This loss is more about the special teams and the Coaching staff.

This off season has to have changes to both the offensive and defensive coordinators. Mora needs to go to because he plays favorites.

I still dont know why Jimmy Williams is not starting over Allan Rossum.

Ed Hartwell needs to go, Jason Webster, the whole West Cost offense, chop blocking. Bring back Reeves and i bet the Falcons make the playoffs

sorry do not know what game you were watching but mcnair had plenty of pressure in the second half. every third down atlanta blitzed. mcnair just was able to stand in the pocket and deliver the ball. something vick can not do. the only reason they did not score in the first have was the fumble right before the half, not because of atlanta pressure. and 5 balls is not throwing to the backs. in the west coast offense under the 49ners the running backs ended up with 70 to 80 catches each. atlanta running backs have caught a total of 39 passes in 10 games. that is not the west coast offense. Do not get me wrong, i do not like the west coast offense. I just think if your going to run it, then do so.

I was watching Mr. Blank talking with Jim Mora towards the end of the game. I would of liked to hear that conversation. I hope it went something like this.

AB: “Well Jim, you’ve managed to screw this one up too.”

JM: “Well, we..

AB: “Ah ah ah.. I don’t want to hear your pathetic excuses. Now, you listen to me and listen well. I’m firing those pathetic coordinators you have at the end of the year and if you want to keep your job you’ll come to me with a specific plan on how you plan to lead this team to a Superbowl next year. I don’t just want to go to the Superbowl, I want to WIN the Superbowl. I didn’t buy this team just to have you F* it all up with lackluster performances.

JM: “Yes Sir”

AB: “And one more thing. We WILL at the very LEAST make the playoffs this year, or your A* is history too. Do we have an understanding?”

Trevor Pryce, Defensive End, Baltimore Ravens-

“Our focus was to get out of this game with a win to be 8-2,” Pryce said. “But I know this, for me personally, I never want to play Michael Vick again. He’s as special a football player as I’ve seen on any level. I’d rather play Peyton Manning several times than play him again, and you can quote me on that. Stop Blaming it all on Vick. I blame coaching. Our play calling sucks. Gregg Knapp and Jim Mora needs to go. They too conservative. They call the game not too lose, which is crazy. True Vick needs to do better but he will never do better with the way the coaches is calling the game. Its like they call the game like they dont believe in the offense them selves. The same plays every game, they are not trying to do nothing new and score every drive. It is like literally they approach every drive just to get in field goal range and not in the end zone.

What happen to how we played the Bengals and Steelers? I tell you what happened, the coaching must didnt believe in it themselve. They thought the offense was just lucky those games. Because the next games they came out calling again extra conservative and not even trying to run the score up.

We have to bounce back against the Saints. If not we through.

Okay, stop the QB bashing; the problem lies with the brain trust. It is getting hard to watch them because they are not playing to their strength like in the first few weeks of the season. Are we a power running team or a team with an insane amount of team speed who rolls the QB out and has the speedy WR running quick slants? The latter is not defendable! Also, a healthy defense will help —- where is Victor Conte when you need him? Oh, he is in jail again, shoot.

Someone commiteed that Mcnair was under pressure? in the first half the Defense kept everything infron of them and came of the ball well, and there was some pressure. But once again the second hald was another story, no pressure, sending Allen Rossum on a Blitz< get real Donatell. it is too easy to point at Vick in a win or loss, so I will not, because he does not play special team or defense. Now, it is the 4th Qtr 12:33 remaining in the game Baltimore backed up in their own end and proceeded to bash the defense around on third and long plays, what defense allows a 3rd and 4, simple hand off gain 7 yards? A very small and tired Defense. Atlanta had one possesion in the 3rd Qtr this a trend that has been happening over this losing streak. Peyton Manning is often mentioned for reason when talking or should I say bashing Vick. But take notice the Offense stayed in place when the head coaching job changed hands because they realized the problem was not the offense and Manning was was developing, so Tony built of the defense of the Colts instead of tinkering with a system that was not broke. Atlanta on the other hand took a QB who had just begun to understand a system that allowed him to use his skills while still making plays down field with his arm and tried to fit him in a box that is not best suited for his skill set. Even with all the ability that Vick has the inability to audible at the line will always hamper and any other QB, Vick was scked five times yesterday and it could have been more, Imagine if Shaub was in there with all that pressure coming his way? Not sure how it would pan out but i woul have to guess that more sacks would have been accumalated. This has to be the worst tackling team ever, LB and DB, no wants to wrap and deliver a blow instead of absorbing them. Our LB’s reacts to things in front of them instead of attacking.

Stop defending Vick. He sucks. He gets sacked so much because he is incapable of beating the blitz by hitting a hot route. This all comes back to his inability to read defenses. Not to mention the facts that he 1)smiles and jokes with opponents immediately after losing, 2)admitted to giving up in the Carolina game last season, and 3) took nearly the entire season off in 02 for an injury that every medical examiner on the team estimated would take 6 weeks to recover from at the most. The guy is a loser and along with our coaching staff needs to go. Good riddance.

jake, the offense can not audible out of a play called that make run or play it self straight to the stength of defense, so how would you have a hot read if the play is called in from the sideline prior to the defense taking thier position? Atlanta’s offense is predictable and not sound right now, on the the 1st series 4th and inches why would you not go on sound with a QB sneak? That was a dumb play, and why is Blakey in on 3 receiver sets not Lelie or White or even Jennings? Dumb. Failure to allow your offense to get out of a bad play called is not sound Football. Donatell and Mora, Allen Rossum is not a CB, why do you insist on putting the guy in a position to fail? Omar Lowe has better sized and abilities for the position, why would you not play him? If Rossum is a bette cover corner and tackler than Lowe, you should have cut Lowe a long time ago. Then you Blitz with Rossum, give me a break, Mcnair did not even flitch when he saw the timid returner coming at him.

Sharon and Madden King, just read the stats and be honest with yourself! THE SUMBEECH SUCKS MOST OF THE TIME! Sure he has his flashes of good play but most of the time he sucks. Come on 10 points? 82 passing yards? 18% 3rd down conversion? How the hell can you defend him after that? Madden king you claim to be his homie so I guess you feel obligated to support him. Sharon maybe you are a friend also but there comes a time when the obvious must be stated and by you defending him it makes you look less than knowledgeable about the game. And yes I have played football before from the age of 6 until the age of 21 when I left college. I have read several blog entries today of fans that have turned on him after much support due to his horrible play, his lack of sound judgement as a team leader and field general and his overall who gives a damn attitude! You can tell that all he wants to do after a game is show his coolness to the other team and get to a party atmosphere even after a loss. The guy just has not grown up yet and it is showing in his game and his life which the prior is directly affected by the latter. I have seen it bring down many players who had all the tools but one and that is the common sense to live clean enough to be respected by your peers and do a good job on the field. He needs a coach or mentor at this time to show him the wrong in whats happening to him as a player and human being because the way things are going I would be willing to bet that in 10 to 15 years he will be a broke a$$ has been that fans will barely remember. I am a lifelong Atlanta native and I want to see us have winning sports teams in every sport especially the one I love the most which is football I wanted to see Vick be the superstar he was billed to be coming in but after watching his carrer develop and seeing that he is getting worse instead of better I along with most loyal Falcon fans realize that he is not the player he could have been and that we need a new QB NOW. I dont care what race, religion or creed he is we just need a change in field leadership because the one we have obviously had rather be doing something else!

It does not stop because one person checks out, or a million. This is something the Falcons will Have to Sort OUT. and there is no One magical player that is going to make it happen by himself. Yesterday clearly it was a TEAM LOST meaning ALL are to blame and fell short. From the coaching staff on down. Its dumb to just fault one player. If that is the case..if Mr Ray-Ray(who I cant stand to look at) was so important and carried the team. It would have been the Ravens that lost but clearly Ray-Bragger is NOT the Entire Team. They did fine without him and didnt need his pumping. Same as Michael Vick is NOT the FALCONS. Its possible they would have LOST yesterday regardless if Vick played or not. The Ravens just Out Played the Falcons. Plain and simple. So all the finger pointing and blaming Vick and Mora is just a bag of fart gas. all it does is Stink. But dosnt change a thing. TTCO, why is center of you blog around Mike Vick, and his leadership or lack there of? Mike does not play defense or special teams nor is he a coach or decides on player personnel. Winning is contagious so is losing, while I don’t care to see any player laughing it up after a loss …90% of the player in the league do it, because they feel, hey the game is over i know this guy we are friends etc… But he perception to a fan watching it could be distorted. What bothers me more is watching Atlanta players on the side line during the game towards the end sitting around laughing, that is not good. Mike Vick takes a beating for this team and yes he makes his share of mistakes, there is plenty of blame to go around, this time it was special teams, we just do not have a well coached football team, is the bottom line. Your commits about Vick being broke and a forgotten player in 10-15 yrs is a concern, because have you ever seen the guy spending his money unwisely? Have you seen him living/ purchasing the largest house on the block? Do you here about him gambling his fortune away? Do here about his bad investments? If your answer is no, to these questions, maybe it is something you want to see happen to him? Just a thought.

Any criticism of Michael Vick are deemed to be racist. That’s the easy way out for his defenders. He’s great athlete, but not a good quarterback. Yesterday he couldn’t even throw swing or short passes with any accuracy. Face it, the NFL is a passing league. You absolutely need a good running game to succeed, but you need passing at times to keep the defense honest and bail you out. Vick does not provide that part of the game so deparately needed. It’s not race, it’s passing. With Vick, you don’t have that. With a runner like Dunn, you need a passer to compliment him. Having two good running backs (Dunn and Vick) doesn’t help. Vick is exciting, no doubt, but forget about going deep in the playoffs with him. He’s regressed each year and now is pointing fingers. Let’s hope he’s more accurate pointing fingers than throwing passes!

Rick, I won’t dispute you’re arguments about the poor coaching decisions because they are just that. Like I said, the coaches need to go as well. Vick, however, is simply not getting the job done. If it is indeed true that he is not allowed to audible at the line of scrimmage then there must be some reason for that. There are two possibilities the way I see it, one, Knapp is a bad coach, two, Vick is not capable or reading a defense. The answer probably is a combination of the two. Hot routes aside, Vick consistently does not see open receivers, as is evident in just about any replay, when he does see them he makes poor throws, and when he makes a good throw (which is rare) the receivers usually drop it. Look at Vick’s stats, they don’t add up to his salary and they certainly don’t add up to the stats of a good quarterback. And for all of you who say that Vick just wins, take a look at Vick’s record against teams with winning records, it is far from impressive, and by the way, teams in the playoffs will have winning records.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over, and expecting a different result. Mike is the leader of the team, and he cannot get it done on Sundays. How about a little shake up at QB? Start Matt, and see if he can do any better. I just do not believe in Mike Vick can get us to a Super Bowl.

Jake, I agree with your commits, but would just add that Vick is too much of the focus win, lose or tie. And I understand that is just the nature of the beast. It is much easier to see open recivers who may or may not catch the ball on a replay, but for a 6ft QB with terrible blocking (pass) it makes it more difficult. that is why he is bette moving to the edges or shot gun, which by the way he does not care for because he has such small hands and difficult at times to find the grip on a qick play. Drew Brees, 6ft QB threw for 500+ yards yesterday and is consistently passing for 300 or better weekend and week out, but his team lost and it was not a high scoring game (NO total yards 595) 16 points scored. I am not into stats, just wins and losses …and the Falcons are 500, and sinking fast.

Falcons fans need to be realistic. Owners don’t pay players the kind of money Vick is making and then sit them (unless there’s an injury). Vick is the quarterback and unless the players around him step up, things won’t change.

It was pretty funny seeing him get sacked by nose tackle Kelly Gregg one-on-one in an open backfield. What was that all about?

All you on again and off again ban wagon Falcon fans. The Scope of the matter is this Mora has done all he can do for the Falcon, and saying that not alot. Sure he might be Great guy not an NFL Coach alone with his coaching staff. Mr. Blanks seen it coming from a million miles away and I’m sure the 49er’s organization told him after the signing of Mora that he just made a terrible mistake. 5-5 we still have life in us but it will be hard 3 Division Games Left the good thing, The bad is ALL THREE TEAMS have SUPERIOR COACHING they will game plan around MORA inability to make a game PLAN. I see it every game Hell me and my brother call the plays for the opposing team with accuracy because we are so predictable on both sides of the Ball. Between Rossum/Webster we may as well pick any guy form the stands and let him get some action these two are the worst I’ve ever seen play in the National Football League again I’m sure they are good people just slip through the cracks. But I will cheer if they make one play and I’m still waiting. I’m not singling those two out just a reminder that our Defense Coordinators insist on playing these two in the NFL AT CORNER BOTH ARE 4FT 5IN AT ABOUT 115LBS WHEN WE HAVE JIMMY WILLIAM ON THE BENCH 6FT 2IN 210 AND PLAYED PRETTY GOOD IN THE PRESEASON. let get beat with him on the field allow him to screw up the other two have had their chance AGAIN COACHING THAT’S ALL I’M saying the FALCON ARE THE FALCON BECAUSE IT’S PURE AND SIMPLE HORRIFIC COACHING. But I will stand behind them and my CITY GO FALCONS!!!!!

The Falcons need to think positive from this point forward. If they can beat the Saints on Sunday, they have the new two games against the Redskins and the Bucs. They are in the playoff hunt still, and the loss of McNabb for the year help their chances. My 49ers will not make it even though they have the same record as the 49ers.

Folks, everyone calm down. Sure the Falcons are losing but what do you expect when you play a cornerback at the all-important QB position. Vick is no more a QB than my grandmother but he does the best he can considering that fact. This isn’t Vick’s fault; it’s the coach’s fault for playing Vick out of position. When someone in the Falcons organization finally realizes that they’re paying obscene amounts of money to a cornerback to play QB and then moves said cornerback to his rightful position then things might improve. Hey, even Deion Sanders didn’t play QB and he was every bit as talented as Vick. Until then enjoy what you’re seeing because this is as good as it gets. OTOH if you pull against the Falcons then Vick is your man.

Week after week I feel like i’m watching Virginia Tech being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to play out a season in the NFC south. Michael Vick is a horrible quaterback!! Yeah. I said it and i’m black. I’m tired of people, most of which are black and whom are hoping that Vick will do well… talkiing about his arm and his feet like you don’t need a strong head for the game. Vick still looks like a rookie. I don’t know if he’ll ever win . So many batted balls at the line of scrimmage. At least one a game. Can’t complete a pass. Telegraphs his throws. Bad decisions Mr. Blank. Very Bad. Let’s start Schaub!!

I’m guessing Knapp will be toast at the end of the season. Still, it won’t mean much if the birds are still utilizing this this poor no-pass-blocking run schemme. It doesn’t matter if you lead the league in rushing. you have to be able to pass. Until the birds develop a passing game, the opposing team will stack the line every game and play one-on-one against falcon WRs who can’t get separation. When they do get separation, they can’t catch the ball. Vick has faults. He’s not the only problem with this mess.

Hey, your 2 top guards were out. Can you give the Ravens a little credit? They are only the number 2 defense in the NFL with the number 1 run defense. If you stop atanta’s rushing attack who else is there to throw it to? Your top wide-out is Ashley Leile who was dumped by the Bronco’s. It’s not like Vick has the world’s greatest receivers to get open for him. If Vick goes to a team with a healthy O-line and some receivers, you can start fitting him for a Super Bowl ring. He IS your offense right now. He can’t do it all himself. I feel bad for the guy.

Too conservative just before the half. We have no Pro-bowl linemen and they are too small to give vick time. This smoking mirrors zone blocking scheme needs to go. Look at Dunn’s numbers. The only reason we are/were leaduing the league is/was because of adding Vick’s yardage. Also, did Jim Mora senior agree that Vick is a coach killer? If he did, then that certainly will make everyone feel comfortable in the locker room.

Lets Face it Falcons Fans - you all are as “hot & cold” as the Falcons. You can change the organization into a winner by changing coaches and players - you have to begin with a rich history and avid fan base that “Loves their Falcons” throught the good and bad not JUST THE GOOD YEARS. Anyone can see with the limited depth that injuries will cause the Falcons to watch another Superbowl rather play in one. The only Superbowl you Falcons will see is when the city of Atlanta hosts the next time. It’s not Mora’s or Vick’s or Knapps fault - its history that has no tradition of winning. No one in Atlanta can change that including you band wagon juming fans! GO STEELERS

Hey Mo,

“sack for a loss of 18 on the play” He should have thrown it away.

Constantly overthrowing or underthrowing his receivers. He’s not accurate Mo.

Vick’s Side-arm delivery is quite different than 6ft tall drew breeze’s which may explain why he’s constantly batted at the line of scrimmage Mo. He throws the ball like he’s throwing darts are something. I think you could pick off one of his passes Mo.

As a Ravens fan, I like to go on message boards of opponents to get a different take on the game. I was at the game and here’s my thoughts:

1) For the life of me, I can’t understand why MV7 was ever annointed the next great QB. Sure he can run, but his throwing ability is suspect and his decision making is poor. He could not hit his receivers all day long. Take away an improvised jump ball late in the game and he would have thrown for less than 75 yards, Ouch!

2) The Atlanta coaching staff did not earn their money yesterday. The 4th down run was a joke (Did Mora forget who they were playing?). I read that Dunn said the Falcons were trying to smack the Ravens around with that call. HaHa! All good teams make ajustments at half time. What were the Falcons doing? The Ravens came out fired up and beat the p** out of them. The Ravens left the field to a chorus of boos at half and decided to do something about it. The Atlanta staff came back with NOTHING! Not only did they have no plan but they kept making the same mistakes again and again. Why would you keep punting to BJ Sams? Kick the ball away or out of bounds.

3) The Ravens have always matched up well with the Falcons. Give the Ravens some credit for your loss. They are playing well this year and your team ran into the buzzsaw. How can the Falcons let them run an 80+ yard drive that took 8:03 off the clock? You could feel the Falcons give up in the stadium.

Hope the rest of your season goes well but without some changes it doesn’t look good.

In our last 6 games we’ll be facing the Saints, Redskins, Bucs, Cowboys, Panthers and Eagles. These are all winnable games. We’ve been banged up for the past three weeks and now we’re getting some guys back. All we need is this next win against the Saints (and I guarantee you it will be a win) to get the ball rolling. Football is a game of momentum and we have got to get it back in our favor. Don’t lose faith. We will make the playoffs.

you can’t just tell someone to “throw it away”. Vick had absolutely no time with that 18 yard sack. There must have been at least 3 guys rushing him. If he throws it away it’s intentional grounding. That play was not Vick’s fault. No chance in hell.

What QB can play behind this offensive live and make it through the entire season?

What QB will be mobile enough to avoid sacks?

What experienced QB would want to play for the Falcons organization?

People still keep talking about how much potential Vick has even after6 years! How much longer will it take to realize that maybe this is all we are going to get from him. He is NOT a passer. He is NOT going to take the Falcons anywhere close to a Superbowl.

By mo

Dunk,

Sack for a loss of 18 is Vick’s fault/ Nope. The defense was in the backfield too fast for anyone to elude them. He was between the tackles, as well, with no lanes to run away. He had to take that sack and not get a turnover, Dunk.

Also, Dunk, Vick couldn’t pass the ball directly between the shoulder pads of the receivers when they aren’t wide open. If he did that, Dunk, the defense would have a better play on the ball and you would have had an interception.

See, Dunk, sometimes the QB have to throw the ball low, high, or somewhere else where only the receiver can make a play. The receiver needs to make a play on the ball, especially when there’s no separation.

On the occasion when there was separation, Vick will pass it to their hands. There were drops, but there were also some good receptions. (By the way, Roddy White made some good plays yesterday.)

I only saw one bad pass all day from Vick. All the rest of your “underthrows” and “Overthrows” were either the receivers not making a play on the ball or Vick throwing it under duress.

Now, as far as his throwing motion is concerned, it isn’t side-arm, Dunk. He does pass it that way when the defender takes away the passing lane to still get it to the receiver in the flat, but he throws it over the shoulder. He did get a batted ball, but that’s because the defender made a great play.

Also, how many batted balls do Drew Brees have? I can’t get that stat, but I bet it’s not that much lower than Vick’s.

C’mon, Dunk. Give me indisputable evidence that Vick is this terrible QB…

JP , Since you asked , I will respond. Just got through reviewing the game tape. On more than one occassion Baltimore was only rushing 2 lineman and somehow Vick managed to gravitate toward the side of the pocket where our offensive lineman was blocking his assignment. Then Vick responds by rolling away and throwing it at someones ankles or out of bounds. Trust me , Mora will see this. Mora is responsible for correcting these actions. That is why coaches are ultimately accountable. If he allows his players to keep doing the same ill-performance week end week out, he will get the same result. A big L. Vicks timming for his throwing decision needs to be cut in half. If no one is near being open, he needs to at least run and slide for 5.

Vick is just never going to be a complete QB under the current regime. Does any QB have his running skill? NO. But is that what you want you’re QB known for. In a west coast passing offense, it’s more about timing passes, second and third reads. Vick just doesn’t fit the mold in the offense which he’s made to play. I truly don’t know any team in the NFL that is made for his game. Not taking away from Vicks ability, but Schaub has the more adaptable skills to be a better suited QB than our current one in the current Falcon system. It’s just unfortunate that we will not see it happen. So, either change the system or the QB. It’s that simple. Defense did not play a bad game Sunday. You just can’t leave them on the field but so long and it will wear you down with thin personnel.

It’s really quite simple. Great Players are Great no matter what team they play for or what system they are in. It’s been six years people and Vick is what he is. A quarterback with fast feet and a big arm and that’s about it. However, he is a quarterback just not a very good one, Period. (I’m a 26 year old black man by the way) Vick’s progression is just one problem of many for an organization that has shown the inability of being problem solvers. Everyone is accountable and it all starts at the top.

We have been waiting 6 Years and keep saying, wait till he matures. Face it. Vick is Blank’s quarterback and regardless who the Head Coach, Offensive Coor., line, receivers, etc is, the quarterback is the failure.

stop hatin vick, who’s makin’ plays for him? no one,i could count over 20 dropped balls in the past three games, must be some kind of record. jenkins would make a decent 3rd wr, roddy white has brutal hands, and lelie has no clue wats goin on. No one can get open. Why cant jenkins be like chad johnson, seems like he’s finding a lot of holes in opponent secondaries. Imagine if ATL had passed up vick in ‘01, cincy would most likely have drafted him, and he and chad and tj whos-your-momma would be tearin up the league because the WR’s CAN MAKE PLAYS!!!! My advice to all u, stop hatin vick, look for some new playmakers at WR (ie. DeSean Jackson, WR/PR California Golden Bears). And for all you other ignorant people, matt schaub is a good 2nd string qb, NOT A STARTER, a coach’s philosophy is to give your best guy the starting job and michael vick is their best guy. Sure, schaub played well as a starter against new england last year, put up some numbers, AND LOST THE GAME. The reality is that vick needs some guys to throw to, he cannot rely on alge makin big plays all the time, nor dunn, norwood, or even the defense. He’s been relyin on himself lately, and guess wat, it takes 11 on offense and 11 on defense to get the job done. right now it looks like vick is a one man show, stop hatin him, start lovin him, he turned the organization around as soon as they called his name out in ‘01, and is leadin us in the right direction. He is the best athlete in the league and the most dynamic player in the history of the NFL. He is superman but he needs some more support, and hatin on him is the wrong thing to do. I listened to the Falcons’ game as I drove to Kentucky on Sunday. It was more of the same. On the call-in show, a very astute woman said that Jim Mora was not a coach, but he was a cheerleader. Van Note and the other guy just ignored her as if they were only supposed to take positive comments. Mora is a cheerleader and Vick is a hotdog. The Falcons need someone like Bobby Knight to chase Arthur Blank into the stands and pop Vick on the chin so he learns to pay attention. The Falcons are going nowhere until they get some leadership and discipline, from the coach as well as the quarterback.

One more thing it just occur to me that …

THE OL is weak as hell!

Look at the Colts/Saints/Chargers Line

THEY GAVE their QB all kind of time to throw or RB getting big open gaping lanes.

I recall the Falcons could have LT on our team but we went for an overrated QB name Mike Vick whom we could have gotten in the 2nd round!

Imagine having LT and Vick on our team!

When Reeves was the coach.. we have WR/TE that could catch the ball consisently

IS Vick worth $100 million dollars ~ heck to the no!

Vick do the team a favor - redo your contract to half. So Mr Blank can get you some 300 lbs hogs to fill the holes for you.

Dunn you a nice dude and everything but your time is over. Norwood u better do some serious weight training without the roids

Mora please get your ego outta of your azz! Get some REAL OFFENSIVE COACH/DEFENSIVE GURUS.

LAST 3 games should have been an easy WIN.

In the offseason - TRADE/CUT MOFO WHO DONT NEED TO BE IN ATL BUT IN ARENA BALL.

HELL THEM ARENA BALL PLAYERS GOT MORE HEART THAN THE FOOLS WE HAVE ON OUR TEAM

3 LOST IN A ROW!?!??

SHOOT I CAN GET GA TECH TO BEAT YALL 3x myself! Or dem Bullsdawgs!

Mr blank if u dont do anything - then u gonna get a lot of empty seats for the first time in the Vick’s era!

somebody answer this question

when Vick was at VT was he in a run and gun system?

If so then trade Vick’s overrated behind to Dennis Green/Carindals for MAtty Leniart/Cardinals QB

TITO, reread my comments and gain a better understanding before you leap. I said Batch’s intelligence was questioned when he was the QB of the Lions. He was blamed for the Lions failures and, as usual, the racists attributed it to a lack of intelligence. Joey Harrington was simularly run out of Detroit for his failures as the Lions QB, but his failures were not attributed to a lack of intelligence.

The fact that you feel Batch is a solid QB, now, shows other factors attributed to his failures. No one attributes Brett Farve’s regression, from a SB winner to last yrs low rated QB, leading the NFL in interceptions, to a lack of intelligence. Big Ben, of the Steelers, is having an identical type season and noone is attributing his failures to a sudden lack of intelligence.

It doesn’t take much of an IQ to see there is a double standard.

Before we get too carried away, let’s remember that Dan Reeves coached Vick before DC learned how to DEF him. On the other hand, Reeves knew how to take the pressure off of Vick. (1)He allowed him to audible (2)He used his backs on passing downs, especially Griffin (3)He threw slants and quick outs, which took pressure off the Oline and QB. (4)He used his FB’s frequently as runners, especially on quick hitters. (5)He allowed him to pass more, especially on 1st and 2nd downs.

Griffin, Dunn and Norwood have excellent hands, but are seldom used as receivers. Dunn and Norwood have the speed to overmatch any LB, FS or SS in the open field. Instead of catching passes and out running them, they are kept inside to block them. How do you think Vick feels when he hears the DEF call out the play, then sees the DEF adjust to an all out blitz, and he can’t audible. He then has to avoid the blitz and make something out of a play that’s not likely to work against the DEF that’s been called.

No one player is responsible for the collapse of the Falcons. This has truely been a team effort, but the coaching staff has to shoulder most of the blame.

If you watched the Giants-Jaguars game you saw what happens to a team that can’t run the football and their receivers drop passes and they turn the ball over. They get beat. Even with the likes of Eli Manning. His protection broke down, his receivers dropped passes and in his frustration he was picked off a couple of times. Sound familiar? Most Vick haters would give their left you-know-what to have Eli instead of Vick. Games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage and teams that don’t run consistently and protect their Qb and drop passes get beat. Plain and simple/ No matter who the QB is. Atl’s rushing yards per game have been skewed all year because Vick rushes for 75-100 yards per game on bootlegs or plays that were designed pass plays but the protection breaks down or the receivers arent open.Take away Vicks rushing yardage and I’m sure their rushing per game becomes only avg.at best. When a team becomes one dimensional in the NFL generally they get beat. Teams have been taking away atl’s running game as of late thereby making them one dimensional. Take away Vicks scrambles Sunday and Atl doesnt even score at all.

The falcon are ok, only one game behind in the division with Abraham coming back. But let me say it, Michael Vick, whom I love like a neighbor, is unmasked as a great athlete masquarading as a Q.B. Just give us a guy who can move just enought to get away from the rush. You can throw the ball 30 yards a lot faster than you can run it. Look a Girard in Jacksonville and Romo in Dallas. We don’t need a Q.B. who runs for 100 yards a game. vick has given me some of the greatest sports thrills of my life, but now it’s time for some winning efficient football. Just look at Dallas.

If Vick is traded, the Falcons will never sell out that stadium until Vick comes back and plays against us.

o quickly you give up on your team! No wonder Atlanta has some really bad fans, when the teams needs fan support you turn on them! Classic!

To those who insist that Vick can’t pass. Why do you think teams consistently use allout blitzes on passing downs? If his inability to pass was the real issue, DEF’s would sit back in a zone, contain his running, and wait for him to throw an interception. DC’s know that with his arm, and given time, he can pass any team off the field. Just ask the Steelers and Bengals.

All DC’s now know about Vick’s passing ability. They know it is directly related to the Falcons poorly constructed passing scheme and, except for Crumpler, average REC’s. Teams know they can play man coverage against our REC’s and not get burned more than once or twice a game. That allows them to use 7/8 defenders to contain Vick and the running attack.

Teams also know they can commit, or overcommit, to a DEF and not have to worry about getting burned by any OFF adjustments at the line of scrimmage. The consensus of all DC’s, on how to stop Vick and the Falcons is (1)play man coverage because the REC’s aren’t experienced, or talented, enough to consistently get open (2)use 7/8 defenders to overpower the Oline, because they have a very poor pass blocking scheme (3)contain Vick inside the tackles and keep him on the move, and don’t give him time to read his options (4)don’t worry about screens or swing passes to the backs, because they are always used as blockers (5)don’t worry about the FB as an Off threat, other than blocking (6)don’t worry about quick slants or 5/7yd out patterns (7)don’t worry about the Falcons blocking the DE, or having any protection for Vick when he bootlegs (8)you can impliment a DEF scheme and use it the entire game because the Falcons coaching staff don’t/can’t make game time adjustments (9)stop Vick and you stop the Falcons cold, because the OFF has no options to counter the attention given to stopping Vick.

Vick is an inaccurate passer:

  • He has a career completion % of 53 percent (2006 he’s regressing to 52%)

  • He is TERRIBLE on 3rd downs: 48.2 completion percent

  • He is awful in the redzone: 51.6 completion percent

  • His passing gets worse in the 4th quarter: 47.8 completion percent

  • 32.5% of his incompletions are due to POOR THROWS (Stats. Inc)

His passing ability is best summed up by the guys Footballoutsiders.com:

“At this point, there is really nobody to compare Vick with, at least not in NFL history since 1978. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A QUARTERBACK THIS INACCURATE, THIS FAR INTO HIS CAREER.

Ken,

I’ve always liked Batch, even when he was with the Lions. I think he’s very talented and if I were the coach at Pittsburgh Batch would be my guy, whether Ben was healthy or not. As for Roethlesberger and Favre, they’ve both been intelligent enough to win Superbowls but that intelligence certainly seems diminished now. Your point seems to be that when people say Vick isn’t very intelligent, they are making that assessment based upon his race. That’s not true in my case and I don’t think it’s true for a lot of people. Vick has had two really stupendous games, both this year, in his six year career. Aside from those two games, he hasn’t really advanced as most had envisioned. He has everything, physically, he needs to be one of the best to ever play. The thing holding him back is his head. He just doesn’t seem to be able to learn lessons and incorporate new knowledge into his play. He makes the same mistakes over and over. Steve McNair, David Garard and even Seneca Wallace are quarterbacks I like and they are African-American. The fact they are of that ethnicity really has nothing to do with my admiration for them. It’s that they play the game with some cerebral quality that many quarterbacks don’t seem to possess. Vick is one devoid of that component. There are others who aren’t doing that well and they are caucasian. Some names that come to mind are Bulger, Kitna, Palmer and Eli Manning. A person’s race is not an indicator of his intelligence or lack of it. Vick, despite protestations to the contrary, has shown himself to be lacking in the aptitude it takes to win football games consistently. Since mid-season, of last year, the Falcons have won seven games and they’ve lost eleven. Vick has quarterbacked every one of those games. If you give him the credit for wins, and you do, then you have to assess him the blame for the losses too!

Vick has the size and speed to be a RB. He should be moved to that position.

Vick is a great athlete. He’s just NOT capable of being a great QB.
