Mike Vick plays harder than anybody on that Falcons team. He’s out their running for his life because blockers can’t block and recievers can’t catch! Dunn can’t pick up 3rd and 1. It’s suppose to be a team sport! You give Peyton Manning 9 years to win a Super Bowl with all of those weapons surrounded by him, but give my boy 6 years to start calling for his head. Please, ya’ll are sick if you don’t think that MV is a good QB. He’s already led the Falcons to the NFC championship once and to the 2nd round of the playoffs. That’s more than what Manning did in his first 5 years in the league!

I’ve never realized how racist the world is until I started reading AJC blogs. Wow! African American athletes in general are considered “thugs” now or shall I say “n****”. It’s amazing that people can be so judgmental of people they have never spoken a word to.

With the disparity of wealth and poverty growing rapidly it’s seems like we are headed back to segregation. Unfortunate, but true! Barry Bonds (commissioner not recognizing record breaking), OJ (not being served in a restaurant) and the list continues. Negros in general think innocence the other races claim guilt. This continues to divide society.

Now this media frenzy that manipulates your simple minds: Pacman, Mike Vick and the list goes on are on “thugs” right or shall I say “n****”.

Why is it when someone criticizes a black athlete black people want to scream racism?

Are you telling black atherletes NEVER doing anything that deserves criticism.

I think they should cut their ties with Vick not just because all of the off field crap we have to put up with, but because “he ain’t all” that like we thought he was.

Hello?!?! Has everyone forgotten that the NFL is a BUSINESS???? Michael Vick coming to Atlanta is the single best thing that has happened to the Falcon’s franchise. You used to be able to get free tickets to a game in the early 90’s, now there is a waiting list for season tickets. The bottom line is Blank doesnt give a Sh*t about what any of us think, nor should he. The number on his bottom line has gotten a lot bigger, and thats all he should care about.

I am sick and tired of all the Michael Vick hoopla already…let it go until all the facts are known. It seems that there are those who want to see the man “buried alive” just on hearsay. I say enough is enough…why keep bringing this up day after day after day, when not all the facts are known. I don’t see the need to keep getting a hernia over something that, to this point, no one can do anything about. Vick may not be an angel, but he is not the worst human being playing in the NFL and the things he is alledged to have done, is not the worst thing that an NFL player has been accused of..so stop beating up the guy until all the facts are known. Let me be the first to dsy…regard-less what what comes out of this, he will not be suspended nor serve any jail time, so all you Vick bashers, don’t hold your breath. Let’s break it down simply .. MV is a human being living in a country that has laws. He is also a very high profile public figure and a role model to our kids ( whether he want’s to be or not).

If he is found to be involved in the dog fighting thing and convicted.. Black, white, blue or green in color…. He is guilty.

“Thug” would be the minimum I would refer to him as.

As for the commitment to his team, the francise and the community, making personal decisions such as the company he keeps and his off field activities. Those decisions fall squarely on MV.

Running for 1000 yards as a QB doesn’t give him a pass on breaking the law (if guilty), and participating in the barbaric act of dog fighting.

I have tried, as a white guy to support him as a Falcon fan, but if these things bear truth, it will be difficult to continue to do so, and I would hope that the NFL and King Arthur do the right thing for the community that supports the Falcons.

Vick is not and never will be an effective Q.B. Blank is not and never will be an effective owner. Vick is employed by the Facons who are owned by Blank. Blank is waiting for the Commissioner or Nike to repremand Vick. What a whimp is Blank. I guess it was Bernie wo had to make the hard, correct decisions at H.D., because Blank doesn’t have the backbone to do the right thing. I’ll tell you what…I’d much rather have Vick on my team than some of the other so called “thugs” that I know and have heard of. Thus far, what Vick has been accused of is minor compared to what some of the other NFL players have been accused of , such as attempted murder, rape, gang affiliation, drug use(though some have been trying very hard to get evidence of with no luck). I am sorry, but Vicks transgrssions are minor at best and at worst rather petty that some are trying to make out to be much worst that it really is. Vick didn’t invent dog fighting and while I personally don’t condone it, I am not ready to throw him to t he wolves based solely on hearsay and ownership of a house/property that it is alledgely to have occured on. To ruin a guys life and career based on hearsay is not just and inheritly wrong. You can hate and dislike a guy witout piling on unjustly, until all the facts are known, and in my mind, in so far as Vick is concerned…that is just what the masses are doing…

Mora was an idiot and a prick. He had no clue as to how to run a team more or less a play. He kept ineffective coaches around long after they had proven they were incompetent. That said, Vick has not even closely resembled a $130M talent to this point. This year will prove whether it was Vick or Mora. Petrino wants Vick to complete 65% of his passes when he has never completed more than 52% in a season. We’ll see.

To CJ: It took Manning 9 years to win a SB but his numbers were always there. Defense held Indy back. Vick on the other hand has not had the stats year in and year out. That’s why he is getting the criticism.

To the idiot asking for the media to hammer Kerney, remember that Patrick has no history of wrongdoing. This was an isolated incident. Vick has had a littany of issues and deserves the attention he receives today.

Putting the off-field issues aside, Vick’s problem is that he is an AVERGE quarterback tying up SUPERSTAR salary cap dollars. A reporter on ESPN yesterday said that Vick would not be a starter on 70% of NFL teams and I completely agree. The stats that many here crow over are more suited to a RB than a QB. Let’s call a spade a spade folks. Does Blank regret giving Vick the huge contract extension a few years back? I can almost guarantee he does. Is it entirely regret over off-field issues? No chance. Blank sees that Vick has been a major underperformer on the field just as we do.

Having a history or no history, when rape is involved, you get no free pass. In my mind, rape is far more serious than dog fighting. Kearney gets no free pass here, especially since rape can have a lasting effect on the person that it is perpetrated against. Vick has a litnany of what?…spreading herpes, which is “personal”, not a public issue, pointing the finger at a fan for slinging a racial epithat at him(which I would have shot the finger also), the water bottle incident at the airport that they tried to frame him on as holding drugs(lab tests proved that no evidence of drugs to ever have been in the bottle at all) and the alledge dog fighting incident (no positive evidence to prove him guilty thus far), don’t even mention the missed flight, that is so minor as to not even be a concern. Where is the smoking gun here that makes Vick any more culpulable than Kearney and the rape at his house? It is a case of people being jealous of a so called “dumb” black jock having more money than them for playing a sport. I’d wager most of the venom thrown at Vick is due to the jealousy that most “white” fans feel towards most black athletes due to the fact they feel they are more “educated” have degrees and they are $50,000/yr hams and not the millionaires that the athletes (dumb black jocks)are, who they percieve as been less intelligent. It is jealousy and nothing more or less. If the jocks were being paid, $20,000/yr, we would have nothing near the temper tantrum from the “white” populace that we have now, and that is a fact…

The Brady Defense is the funniest - Yes his longtime Girlfriend (3+ years) is pregnant but the “rumored” pregnancy” of the Model he now dates appears to be a work of fiction. So when the “good” white guy commits a sin or goes counter to norm, it is okay, but when a black guy does it, he is a “thug”… seems to be along racial lines to me. I don’t care if you have been with the person for 50 yrs, if you leave them pregnant, that makes you just as culpable as someone who leaves them after six months or what ever the time. I am sorry..but Brady gets no free pass here. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. If one does something wrong, they should be held just as accountable as those who we resent or hate..you can’t go dividing this between racial lines as it appears to be done against most blacks. Vick was smart to put his Virginia property up for sale. If a new owner or someone else is living in the property, the authorities cant come in and investigate. Of course, with Schaub being gone we dont really have a good quarterback to fill in for Vick should Vick end up in jail for his dog-fighting operations. Vick will lose ALL of his endorsement deals if Vick is convicted of a crime and his football career will be finished for good or I should say that Vicks career will have pretty much gone to the dogs.

The problem that I have in general with all of the people of this is what you people fail to realize is he is just a football player!!! No more No less!!! I think you are more likely going to need an article from KKK weekly to “prove” your point. I really liked “when blacks knew their place” Your crime stat’s pretty funny too. Strangely enough my grandfather was a cop in the 40’s onward and he arrested people. Get this - some of them were white! My Father was a cop in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s - Crime was awful. Again, as crazy as it sounds - white people getting busted.

Mark, pro atheletes are not role models and you have to teach YOUR kids that. It’s no one’s responsibility to raise your kids except yourself. Do I think Mike Vick is a good athelete? Yes. Do I think he is a good person? I don’t know and I don’t care. He is paid to play the game, not raise your kids, thats your job.
