One last blast
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Today’s morning practice session ended 10 minutes ago and coach Jim Mora has only now released the team from an extended huddle speech at midfield.
No doubt he’s telling them to be prepared for a racheted up contact practice this evening.
As it turns out, two of the team’s most rugged defenders (Keith Brooking and Lawyer Milloy) didn’t participate in drills this morning either. Both looked well-rested.
But practice ended on a sour note: a busted play in which Mike Vick had to pull a botched shotgun snap out of the dirt and hurl a 50-yard Hail Mary in the vicinity of rookie wideout Adam Jennings as the final buzzer sounded.

Maybe Vick dropped the snap because his arms and hands are still in pain from all his new tattoos.

I am so sick of all this Vick bashing. If Vick gets hurt this year. Lets see how many fans show up at the Georgia Dome to support the Falcons. All the Schaub supporters should have great seats.

Mike Vick is done for as a passer in this league. Bring on Schaub if you want to win here in the dirty south. Packers Fan!!

This is to Todd granted Matt Schaub is a good passer but he still cant throw better than Vick and by the way how many games did the Falcons win when Schaub started last season I’ll give you a hint none. the only reason you would say such a thing is because you would not want to see the Falcons win.

Hey Eddie, what was Vick’s record in the last three games of the 2005 season?
And what did you think of his recent comments that he doesn’t always give 100 percent?

Guys stop kidding yourselves. Schaub will not be starting in the ATL never unless Vick gets hurt. Vick brings revenue to the team and to the league. Schaub may be a better passer but so was Marino and he never won a thing. Schaub offers defensive coordinators nothing to plan for because he brings nothing to the table with this Falcons team.

I don’t think all this negative talk about Vick is bashing. Sure Mr. Vick has caused the attendance for the GA Dome to increase. However, I think Mr. Blank and the Falcon organization has made a grave misjudgement investing so much money into this wide receiver made quarterback, thinking that Mr. Vick could possibly leave them to the “Big Dance”. Yes I said it, Michael Vick should be at wide reciever. The fact is they have given him too much money, and it hard for them to back up at this point. Vick should fake another injury, bow out with his head up, and give the statement “…if I can’t play at 100%, I don’t want to hurt my team’s chances of them being all they can be”. Maybe slip out of the picture of football. I don’t think Shaub or whatever his name is, is the answer either.

I love hearing guys like Rod and Todd who’ve never been near a football field talk about Vick.
Schaub is a decent quarterback, Vick will never put up Marino or Payton Manning Stats but Vick is a winner. And thats what Blank is paying him for. Not stats but wins.

This is to Chip yeah we may have slumped at the end of the season but we all knew that the season was over well before the last three games and Vick can not be blamed for the mediocre season of last year b/c the D hardly showed up last season. Y do you think we invested so much of our offseason transactions into getting vets on the other side of the ball.

Vick is simply horrendous. He is tough to watch play. He can run the ball. Woopie doo. So can the running backs. His job is to hand the ball off, throw the ball, and read defenses and adjust. The last two he is absolutly useless at. The first one damn near anyone can do. I could careless if he can run it’s not his job. He isn’t a leader and his position is about being a leader. Terrible, in every sense of the word.

But my main reason for not liking Vick is his race.

Of course, I’m kidding. But most people will think that just because I don’t think he’s a good QB. Bunch of morons

When Vick is healthy he changes the entire mindset of a defense. He’s Barry Sanders taking snaps. He’s definitely got the arm strength. A lot of people knock his passing ability, but the truth of the matter is, he’s only had two reliable receivers to throw to during his entire stay in Atlanta. One of those is gone for the season. Crumpler is the other and one can expect double teams on Alge. If that comes to fruition, the two young receivers White and Jenkins need to step up to the plate and make things happen. There’s been a lot of talk about Pathon and Jennings assuming the third receiver position. A sleeper at wide receiver is Cole Magner. Keep an eye on this kid. He was drafted by Atlanta in 2005 out of Bowling Green. All he did was catch everything thrown in his direction. He was cut because of his less than inspiring special teams play. Also, I’ve read that the Falcons may be close to signing free agent WR Ricky Proehl. He has great hands and is a magnificent possession receiver. He would be a great addition to the receiving corps.
Mike, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Schaub is a good quarterback. The level of interest by several NFL teams in the offseason is a prime indication of that fact. The Falcons are fortunate to have a backup that can step in if the situation arises. I’m cautious about our offense without a reliable possession receiver. Finneran is a blue collar receiver and he got the job done. Something has to happen at the third receiver position for the Falcons to be successful. Troy Bergeron may also figure prominently in that role. The preseason will be interesting as the pecking order of the receiving corps begins to unfold.

Vick stays healthy and play his game, da falcons win. In many cases, it wasn’t so much of the offense it was da defense that lost da games. Thats real talk!!!!
