Catching on
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The most intense aspects of practice center on the passing game. In two-minute drills, Michael Jenkins, Roddy White and Jerome Pathon (being scrutinized as a possible replacement for the injured Finneran) are running with the first unit.
In drills devoted to the short passing game, coach George Stewart is really pushing technique and running crisp, 11 yard in and out routes. “Look me in the eye,” Stewart keeps barking. “If you’re looking low the guy knows it’s short.”
More discussion and instruction than action going on with the DBs. Not getting much to look at from top draft pick Jimmy Williams. Would love to see if he’s shaken off all the sluggishness he had entering camp.
Warrick Dunn is dipping and zipping through holes so effortlessly and quick. Still not a bit of work out of Alge Crumpler; unless you count schmoozing on the sidelines with owner Arthur Blank. Head coach Jim Mora, meanwhile is spending the bulk of his time with the defense.
That is, after all, what wins championships.

Ah, did I miss something here; A.Scott doing FOOTBAll. Whoa! (Things must be getting a little dicey down on marietta street.)
Anywho, let’s all hope that the loss of Fin does not kill the passing game, such as it was/is. This team does not look strong enough to get past the Panthers.

ILL-logical, Not that I can justifiably disagree with you, but how is it that less than a week into camp, you are able to assess whether this team “looks” as if it can get past the Panthers?
Speaking of Carolina, I’m sure you have heard that Steve Smith had to get carted off the field with a (recurring) hammy issue. So the panthers have their own issues. The Falcons have gotten past the Panthers in the past (even the year they went to the SB).

So, with A.Scott blogging, is this the end of Wendy Parker? Please say yes! And get rid of Bird Brain (er Babe) while you’re at it.

Well #1 the Falcons look like the same team that allowed Carolina to run all over them-they still don’t have a run stuffing DT;#2 the passing attack doesn’t look any different except now the 2nd most dependable receiver may be lost for the season; and,#3 The O -line looks the same. QED

But ILL-logical,
They don’t have the so-called run-stuffing DT, but there are some major differences on the defense: Crocker and Milloy replace She-on Carpenter and Bryan Scott-Tissue. Hartwell is back which means the LBs resume there normal positions and Abraham makes the line better by being better than Brady Smith and allowing Babineaux to go back to backup tackle. Shropshire will beat out Lava-Lay’s Potato chips.
My point is that it’s a very narrow point of view to say the defense looks the same just b/c they didn’t sign Grady Jackson.
On your #2 point, I’m wondering what you’ve seen of the passing attack sitting at your computer reading blogs. There is a new QB coach and the QB seems to be more committed to improving — that’s all you can ask without actually having “seen” what’s going on.
And your #3 point, the O-Line added Wayne Gandy at LT. Yeah he’s old, but he’s a good pass blocker with experience in the NFC south (i.e., versus Carolina and Tampa Bay — the teams that give Vick the most problems). Camp reports are that the LG Lehr has made improvements too.
So here’s my overall point, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but your points were clearly ill-logical. Before you put QED behind a statement, you need to have support of your arguments and rule out alternative explanations. You didn’t do that, so I’ll remove yours and add my own….QED
