Foxworth takes over D. Hall’s old spot

Well, DeAngelo Hall is not welcome back in the ATL by the new regime.

Coach Smith said pursuing DeAngelo Hall was not in the teams plans. That left little wiggle room. That was a no. Not today, not tomorrow and not 10 years from now.

Farewell D. Hall!

So let’s get back to some on the field stuff. Smith also noted that Domonique Foxworth is now the starter at left cornerback. (D. Hall’s old spot that Brent Grimes was filling). Grimes has been slowed by a sprained posterior cruciate ligament and Foxworth has started the last two games.

Foxworth, who came over from Denver in a trade right before the start of the season, has played well.

Foxworth and the rest of the secondary will need a strong game against the Saints and the league’s top rated passing attack on Sunday.

What must the Falcons do to slow down Drew Brees and the Saints passing attack? Like Foxworth? Grimes will play in situations and on specials teams, cool with that? Who’s going to stop the fleet Devery Henderson? Will Lawyer Milloy get a clean hit on Jeremy Shockey and knock him out?

Foxworth has looked good in two starts so far, and definitely has more upside than Grimes (who’s too short to go up against big receivers as a starting corner). Keep him in there and let Grimes stick with special teams, nickel & dime situations, and as a backup if Foxworth or Houston need a blow or get banged up.

Two things will slow down Brees. First, the D-line needs to be in his face, forcing him to throw grounders to recievers who are not looking for the ball. Second, the offense needs to use 10 minutes on every drive, with runs into the endzone, from first and goal at the 3 yard line. That will keep number one possible through four quarters. Brees can spot the open receiver anywhere on the field, given time; and the recievers find the open zones. Corners biting on the play fake will get burned deep, if Brees has the time to load up and throw long. The tight ends all play and catch 8 yard passes, on first down or third down.

Let me restate: Sean Peyton’s Saints have no come from behind - in the fourth quarter - on the road - victories. The Falcons have to follow their win formula, which is get a big lead and hold on. However, they can’t stop the pressure on Brees, or they will get a first for Peyton (in our house), or just make it 5 or 6 in a row over the Falcons, with another big win.

Hey DLed.

I don’t think DeAngelo should back. With Foxworth’s emergence (and some help from a terrible Raiders passing offense), the Falcons pass D has improved to 16th in the league statistically. That’s not great, but it’s not bad enough that we should risk messing up a good thing in the locker room by bringing in Hall.

As for Grimes, I’m a fan of his, but he’s just too little to be matched up with no. 1 and 2 receivers every week. He’s an average starting corner right now, but he would be an excellent nickel back and special teams player. I think he’ll fit into his new role well.

Now if the Falcons can build on their first half momentum and continue to play smart, physical football, the playoffs are within reach.

Go Falcons!

Seriously…did you really think that we would take D-Hall back. And did this column say that”apparently” hall had worn out his welcome?? And did it also say “farewell” D Hall? D. Orlando, is Hall your cousin or something?? We traded his backside for a reason…to get his malcontent butt out of town. To even ask the question should we bring him back, and then to follow it up by saying farewell (we said farewell 7 months ago) is CRAZY.

Big mistake by the falcons—not taking deangelo—-he’s a good corner, but the coaches are keeping him down by imposing too many rules and restrictions. Just let him loose and let him do his thing and he’ll shut down the receivers. He should get special privileges, due to his talent and speed. Atlanta better pick him up fast, or some other nfc team will and he’ll burn the falcons later. I think it’s a race thing more than anything else. These nfl coaches don’t like a black man with an attitude.

Foxworth has looked good so far. I don’t think our secondary’s good enough to shut down the saint’s passing game, but since they have no run game it should allow us to play the safeties more in coverage. If we can control the clock and score when we get the opportunity, we should eb able to beat them.

I’d LOVE to see someone de-cleat Shockey. That guy needs his @$$ kicked as much as anyone in pro football today.

Grimes has a GREAT mentality- too bad that someone like him does not have DHall’s ability- or if DHall had Grimes grit and determination and attitude. But, there were times when Grimes was physically overmatched as a starter. So, Foxworth needs a chance. But, Grimes will do well as a nickel corner-tough, smart, and unafraid. Gets beat- and gets right back up and competes again.

D. Hall was all talk. Listen up you up and coming CB’s in college and even some of you young pros: THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER DEION SANDERS. PERIOD. STOP EMBARASSING YOURSELVES.

Champ is good…maybe the best now, but he is not DEION.

Ok, got that out of the way. D. Hall was a serviceable zone corner. Could make plays on tipped balls and had the speed to look like he had the guy covered. Problem in Oakland though, was that the other corner was even better. Teams had to throw somewhere…and what we found out was that D. Hall DID NOT have the guy covered. Unable to play man-to-man. Should change his number when he hits his next destination.

Moving on…I told you Ledbetter that Foxy was destined to hit the CB spot. Grimes is serviceable, but better in between the hashes. Look for Grimes to make some plays down the stretch at nickel. We still need him and he can perform.

No Reggie Bush…no win for the Aints. Period. Can’t run on us, so our corners will have a nice day reacting to Brees. Yes, Brees will throw for 300 yards, but the Aints will be unable to score TD’s against this no-name, band-aid, consortium of outlaws, loose-ends, and has been (#56).

Matter of fact Ledbetter, look for the Birds to win three straight and move to 8-3. You heard it here first.

Montrell, you are an idiot! D-Hall is not that good plain and simple. Look around the league, there are plenty of black CB that can play not because of their coaches but because they understand their position, something D-Hall lacks. He got attitude, all right. Its a selfish all about me attitude. Just dont say nothing else since you sound stupid as is…

Champ is by far a better corner than deon ever thought of being. deon could not tackle a third grader. Above average cover skill but afraid of contact. Not even a top 10 corner. Not one time in his career did he make it to camp. He was a me first show boat, with his stepin and fetchen dance routine he looked silly.

Personally, I don’t agree with Joe’s comments and find Montrell’s just as disgusting - everyone know’s what words he’s using without using them.

Unfortunately, we ALL have the right to say what we think or feel, no matter if others agree with it or not. I find blaming another’s issues on their color (black OR white) to be baseless and a lack of class. However, to try and limit one person’s First Ammendment rights is something the AJC should fight. No one was threatened or attacked. Joe makes me sick - just like Montrell does for blaming “WHITIE”.

As for Hall - I wish him the very best with another team. Lawyer Milloy has “free reign” for the most part; then again Mr. Milloy understands what his role is on the defense. Hall not only doesn’t know his place on the defense but didn’t know his place on the team.

Again, good luck D. Hall - elsewhere.

ORLANDO LEDBETTER-that type of vulgar racislly charged language is just about all we’ve ever gotten from JOEBRAVE since he’s been on these blogs. YOUR NOV 6, 2008 10:13PM POST IS THE 1ST ATTEMPT BY ANYONE REPRESENTING THE AJC TO ADDRESS THOSE KINDS OF RACIAL INSULTS. Do you really expect any different from bottom feeding racists like him?

ACTUALLY, I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED OUTRIGHT CENCORSHIP FROM THE AJC, RATHER THAN A SIMPLE VERBAL REPRIMAND FOR LANGUAGE SO EXPLICITLY RACIST LIKE HIS. YOU KNOW THE OLD SAYING, “IF YOU’RE NOT A PART OF THE SOLUTION, YOU’RE A PART OF THE PROBLEM”. BELIEVE ME, TALKING TO THIS FOOL, AND FOOLS LIKE HIM, WILL DO NO GOOD. AS LONG AS THEY KNOW THEY WILL SUFFER NO CONSEQUENCES FOR THEIR VILE RACIST LANGUAGE, FROM THE AJC AND/OR IT’S WRITERS, THEY’LL CONTINUE, AND GET WORSE.

Why can’t some of you just deal with the players on our current roster and let former Falcons like Vick and Hall rest. They can’t help or hurt us, so they should be nonissues to anyone with any intelligence. THE CURRENT FALCONS ARE WINNING AND BUILDING A SOLID FOUNDATION FOR A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE. YET, CERTAIN IDIOTS ARE STUCK IN REVERSE AND HUNGUP ON PLAYERS AND ISSUES OF THE DISTANT PAST.

Come on folks. Does anyone seriously believe Montrell? Nobody in their right mind is that stupid. If you are watching the NFL and think that the coaches should just let a player do whatever he wants then you are definitely the dumbest S.O.B. on this planet. Montrell is trying to mess with us.

Montrell, People of this BLOG, nobody likes a black man with an attitude. NFL or not. For that matter, nobody likes anyone with an attitude. We are all porchmonkeys, crackers, spics, chincs and stereotypes.

When it comes down to it, our MAMA’s would kick our asses for treating folks like this. YOU KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE. Even if you come back at me with some smart a* comment.

I love sports just as much as you. But why do we get so involved? We don’t see any of the money the players and owners make. Wait a minute, yes we do. When it leaves our pockets. If we die, how many of these athletes or owners would care. Seriously, do we need to get this involved. Let the likes of MEANGELO, TO, IVERSON, CANSECO, BONDS, McGUIRE and other athletes that get OUR money earn a living by being productive citizens. My wife is a school teacher for the vision impared and special needs and she never will earn the money she deserves. We praise self centered athletes because they can catch, throw or run with a f**king ball. Why not give our money to people who deserve it, TEACHERS, FIREFIGHTERS, POLICEMEN, THE GUY WHO PICKS UP OUR GARBAGE, NURSES, etc. Scoff all you want but remember that we couldn’t read or write if it were not for the teachers in our life. We would live in ANARCHY if it weren’t for the police. Christ allmighty how this place would stink if there was no one to pick up our garbage!

Here’s an thought for those who mock. Are you that bored with life when all you do is live sports?

After the FALCONS beat the AINTS on Sunday and we all rejoice how many of us will turn the tv off and spend time with our family? If we don’t have families will we do something productive or just sit on our lazy asses and watch more sports?

Their are several challenge here. One is to convince ourselves that sports are for kids. These are kid games we played to build confidence and understand teamwork and more importantly to HAVE FUN. The second challenge is to make these self centered athletes realize that they are our employees and we own them. We control who is on the field and who isn’t just by paying or not paying for the ENTERTAINMENT. And the third challenge is to convince ourselves that we should focus on what is truly important in our short lives and that is our families and friends. Remember, these athletes don’t care if we die, because there will always be some other schmuck to pay to watch them play. WORD UP MY NEGROES!

Hall could have been used on special teams. He has to upgrade his skills and let his playmaking abilities do all of the talking. He will end up in Dallas along with Michael Vick. We could use Vick as a tail back or as an option qb. I know one day Vick will return to the Dome as a member of the Dallas Cowboys or Tampa Bay Bucs.

It is about time that Foxworth hit the scene. He is the best corner on the team, and I can’t believe it took this team eight games to make up their minds. The game is competitive, and most players, espcially Foxworth who as I understand graduated college in three years, want to get out their and prove themselves quickly. Nice commentary there Cee. Is your intelligence level indicative of everyone who voted for B. Hussein Obama? Ever heard of punctuation marks? Ever notice that most sentences don’t capitalize every word? Yeah, us working and responsible people will keep paying them taxes so people like you can keep cashing in those welfare checks and will have enough money to get more MD 20/20. By the way, MeAngelo is disdained because he has been graced with great athletic ability from God and has been rewarded with a free college education and millions of dollars in salary. Despite that, he is an ungrateful, conceited and loudmouthed jerk - it has nothing to do with his race.

Monitor implies an employee of the AJC must read and censor all content before allowing the post to be listed.

This is a POTENTIAL infringement of your 1st amendment right to free speech. It also leaves a broad grey area where one censor or another might apply VARYING individual standards to different potentially offensive items and delete them or not. Thus, there is no standard of application.

Also, you would have to wait for the censor to clear your post for release. This would result in undue delay in some cases of dubious content, and probably all posts would be slowed considerably with the bottle-neck of clearance involved. Most of us seem to derive gratification from seeing our comments in print almost instantly. I know I do.

And finally, it would be impossible due to cost for the paper to provide that type of constant monitoring service to a free expression of opinion.

The AJC is cutting payroll due to declining readership in the print media and has not yet figured out how to make money off its one growth sector-the blogs and posts such as this one on the internet. Would anyone be happy to PAY to post their comments here.?

I think the fact that DeAngelo couldn’t cut it in the Raider’s defense says a LOT about his “skill” level - or lack thereof. It would seem he does really well when he can Freelance but only in a Zone Coverage when he has “help”.

In other words: if DeAngelo has to cover man-to-man then he’s getting burned; if he can sit in zone depending on others to do his job then he can make breaks on the ball.

On a side note: I hope Vick DOES make it back to the NFL. He made mistakes, broke the law, and is paying for it - end of story (we hope). I don’t think he would get picked up by Tampa, Chuckie wouldn’t put up with him. Actually, the Raiders would be a perfect place for him. Consider the micromanagement culture in place there. Until Vick shows he will put in the time to learn an offense, is willing to work on getting better (and not just BE “Mike Vick”) as a QB, to watch films to learn to recognize what defense is in front of him the Raiders would be the ONLY franchise that could use him at QB.

Good luck to both Hall and Vick - again, as long as it is elsewhere.

He is completely qualified to be president and he won. However, had other African-Americans run who’s policies I agreed more with, I would have voted for them. Like Condaleeza Rice, Michael Steele, Alan Keyes, maybe even Colin Powell. They would get my vote. Again, my friend, not everything is about color, OK? I get the feeling that D. Orlando is trying to be to the Falcons what Suckou Smith is to the Hawks.

In other words, D. Orlando would rather be pals with the players than cover them in a truly objective manner. Perhaps he wants to be a part of MeAngelo’s off-the-field posse.

I mean, who else but a jock-sniffer would make the COMPLETELY asinine suggestion that the Falcons consider bringing a LOSER like Hall back into the fold?

But don’t worry, D. Orlando. If this newspaper thing doesn’t work out, I’m sure MeAngelo will hire you to wash his cars or walk his dogs.

The number of wins far exceeds the number I would have projected. The team is cohesive. Except for Keith “No Tackle” Brooking who needs to be put in the Old NFL Players Retirement Center. I did not initially like Matt Ryan. I was wrong! Roddy “I Luv Mike” White has never been one of my favorites. Key drops still haunt him but he IS holding on to the majority of passes. Solid runners. Falcon defense needs to pressure QB more or serious secondary weaknesses will be glaringly exposed. Are the playoffs out of reach? For Thrashers of What’s-His-Name in net, yes, for Falcons, not quite yet. Keep up the good work guys!

NOBAMA-“YEAH, US WORKING AND RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE WILL KEEP PAYING THEM TAXES SO PEOPLE LIKE YOU CAN KEEP CASHING IN THOSE WELFARE CHECKS AND WILL HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO GET MORE MD 20/20”. You make a racist sterotypical comment like that and expect anyone with an actual IQ to believe you’re capable of objectively judging a Black person on any merit other than race?

Your entire commentary proves you’re in deep denial because you jump back and forth across that racial divide between YES I AM(reality), AND NO I’M NOT(denial). Why concern yourself with CEE dragging you into something you started. You are obviously the type of person that likes to throw stones and hide your hands.

The truth is, in the grand scheme of things, no one cares who you voted for, who you would vote for, or why. This presidential election is over and the majority of Amercicans have spoken loud and clear. WE WANT POLITICS THAT REFLECT MORE LIBERAL, PROGRESSIVE IDEAS, UNITY NOT DIVISION. RACIAL HARMONY NOT RACIST DIVISION, ATTITUDES AND STEROTYPICAL BELIEFS. Black people didn’t vote Obama into the presidency. The majority of all Americans, who’s representation crossed all social, political, economic and racial lines accoplished this historical feat. THAT’S WHAT MAKES THIS VICTORY SO DOGGONE SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE WORLD RECOGNIZES THIS WAS THE TRUE VOICE OF TODAYS AMERICA, AND TODAYS AMERICAN, SPEAKING LOUD AND CLEAR THAT WE ARE READY FOR CHANGE AND READY TO CHANGE.

YES WE CAN, YES WE DID, AND YES WE WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU’D BETTER WAKE UP OR BE LEFT EVEN FURTHER BEHIND.

Hey! Leave me out of this! Last time I made a natural athlete that starred in the NFL, his name was Jim Thorpe, and the players wore leather helments.

Deangelo Hall is like all the rest, taking Satan’s path to momentary glory by selling his soul for artificial body enhancement.

Hahahaha! But look at the Jose Canseco fellow, getting caught bringing illegal fertility medicine into the USA. Poor guy lost all his testosterone and needs help getting it up. Tsssk, tsssk, tsssk. That’s Mike Vick and Deangelo Hall in 20 years. Believe me. I can see the future guys. Steroids start by making the body big, the pee pee small and the brain hard. No urine test required. A hard brain can’t see where others fit into the world. It is the number one reason my “sports star” hotline goes off. “God help me stop being such an a*******hole! Help me be normal again.” Sorry guys and gals, please deposit one saved soul for prayer recognition.

But, I digress. Just stop saying I am making athletes “naturally” stronger and faster. Its like saying the USA is “naturally” stronger and faster than anyone else in the world.

It is my understanding that the AJC owns this website and as the owners has responsibility and control of the content of this blog. The AJC has the right and I would say the responsibility to kick the idiots who can’t confine their discussion to the Atlanta Falcons off of this blog. This is not an infringement on their constitutional rights. They have the right to buy their own servers, and create their own website and make all of the racist rants they want.

I would like it if this blog stayed on subject. I was born in GA. I grew up in GA. I would be living in GA now if there were jobs in my field in GA. I become ashamed of being a Georgian when I can’t even get half way through a blog about a football team without being subjected all of the racist trash that get’s regularly posted on this blog.

Hey richbrave do you want to take on this idiot Vicksupporter2 or should I put this numbn*ts in his place?

First of all, Meangelo going to the ‘Skins is another example of how Dan Snyder loves the big name acquisition in his desperate attempt to be the next Jerry Jones. Let’s take a look at how his big name pickups fared shall we:

Bruce Smith-FAIL Deion Sanders-FAIL Jeff George-FAIL Shaun Alexander-FAIL Brandon LLoyd-FAIL Jason Taylor-FAIL

See a theme here?

Watching the ‘Skins as long as I have in DC I can tell you he’s a disaster waiting to happen, and he will wreck what could’ve been a Super Bowl season for Washington.

That’s ok though, at least there’s a franchise in Atlanta that is building a championship team the right way.

I don’t think Sunday’s game will be decided until the last possession. Should be fun but I believe that Atlanta will do enough on defense to pull it out!

Hey Ken Strickland, way to stir the pot !! Because I respond to a moronic statement about “keep paying them taxes” and the racist suggestions of the boob Cee, who cannot master a complete sentence, that makes me “in deep denial” over race!! There is just absolutely no convincing a large part of this country (or is it just this audience) that race is not an issue. You guys are bound and determined to stereotype everyone who does not share your views as a racist. You are obviously a genius. Anyway, I won’t bother posting to this blog anymore. (I thought this was about football!) I was just offended by Cee’s stupid and uncalled for remarks. But I forgot when bozos like him and you whip out the race card any time you disagree with someone, that is supposed to end all argument. Well just because you say something, you dumb@$$, that doesn’t mean that it is true. Don’t bother to post any more of your 4th grade education dribble as I didn’t plan on getting into a battle of wits with unarmed opponents today.

On DEF we have to shut down their rushing attack and force them to become totally one dimensional. Since their QB is only 6’ tall, we need to put more pressure up the middle and get in his face. Our DB’s are good enough to handle their WR’s, but not without an adequate pass rush. We need to keep them out of the endzone and limit their scoring to FG’s, if and when they score.

On OFF, we need to show them exactly why we’re leading the NFL in rushing and control the clock. They will have to bring more than hype and emotional sympathy with them this time around. GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Richbrave The Brooking situation is interesting. The Falcons coaching staff have him rated as the leading tackler on the team. A lot people on this blog are really down on him based on what they say they’ve seen at the games or on TV. Living in Illinois, I don’t get to see the Falcons on TV much. I watched the Chicago game and he looked to be playing pretty well to me. I’m sure he’s lost a step, but who wouldn’t? Since I have no way of actually knowing I’ll take the Falcon’s coaching staff word on him.

As far as D. Hall signing with the Skins, I wish him well. He has at times shown tremendous talent and at other times shown tremendously poor judgement. Perhaps, if he has learned a little humility, he can become again the player he was his first couple of years in Atlanta.

For that matter, it looks like MV7 may be eligible for reinstatement sometime next season. I wish him well. I have two dogs and they are definitely part of my family. I completely despise what MV7 did. But, I believe in practicing forgiveness. When he’s served his time, I believe he should be re-instated and be able to play again. I still think with the right Offensive coordinator he could be one of the most dangerous players in football. And I am greatful for the thrills he provided me as a Falcons fan.

Ken, I don’t think americans want their politics to reflect liberal. People voted for Obama because the thinking was he will move to the center and be bipartisan. If Obama tries to move to far left he will be a one and done president. Can’t preach change and become a left wing liberal partisan leader. No way people will go for that crap. Bill Clinton learned this quickly and when he moved to the center and began working in a bipartisan way with the house and congress he became a great president. Same thing with ronald reagen, he could cross the isle and work with democrats. Ever heard the term ” Reagen Democrats”? My hope is that Obama doesn’t listen to those left wing phsyco’s like nancy pelosi and barney frank. And I hope his cabinents choices reflect the bipartisan flavor that he promised. Americans are sick and tired of political gridlock brought on by partisan politics.

Congratulation Atlanta Falcons on a stellar performance. Last Sunday, they dominated/shutout the Oakland Raiders, 24-0. And at the midpoint of the season, the Atlanta Falcons are one of two NFL teams to record a shutout. The other distinction belongs to the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers shutout the Kansas City Chiefs, 34-0, on week number five.

The Falcons are poised and positioned to attack their next prey/opponent, the New Orleans Saints, when they go marching in the Georgia Dome. After competing against several physical football teams consecutively, the Saints are just what the doctor ordered; a finesse football team with a mental edge. The Saints use the passing game to open up running lanes… And for the most part, finesse football teams pass first because they lack exceptional running backs and or good run blockers. That is the make up of an unorthodox football team.

The Atlanta Falcons are a physical football team with a mental edge. They seek to control both sides of the line of scrimmage. And they rely on the running game to open up passing lanes… Now don’t get it twisted. The desire of our physical football team to run the football doesn’t infer anything about the Falcon’s quarterback. Matt Ryan is the best quarterback in the NFL. He is capable of passing for four hundred meaningful yards and four touchdowns every Sunday…That is indicative of an orthodox football team.

On Sunday, it shouldn’t take the Saints’ motley crew/fans long to appreciate the qualitative difference between orthodox and unorthodox football teams on both sides of the ball. And the qualitative difference will force the motley crew’s old refrain to yield in silence, ———“Who dat? Who dat? Who dat sey dey gon beat dem Saints? Who dat? Who dat? Who dat sey dey gon beat dem Saints? Who dat? Who dat? Who dat sey dey? Who dat? Who dat? Who dat sey? Who dat? Who dat? Who dat? Who?————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-.

By Ken Strickland

November 9, 2008 10:06 AM | Link to this

RICHBRAVE-I think we’d be making some of the same glowing comments about Flacco that we’re now making about Ryan. Flacco doesn’t have the same quality of OL, RB’s, WR’s or overall OFF versatility to work with that Ryan has. DEF has always been a priority with the Ravens. Even when they won the Superbowl, their OFF was limited. They spend the bulk of their cap and draft picks on maintaining a dominate DEF. Therefore, the OFF talent, especially at the skill positions, suffers.

The Falcons, on the otherhand, have consentrated on building a dominant OFF. So far, they seem content to maintain a DEF philosophy of bend, but don’t break. I honestly believe next yr that will change. First, we hope to get a healthy DT TLewis back. At 320lbs+ he gives us everything DT GJackson provides, plus he’s quicker, faster, much more athletic and has proven to be a decent pass rusher. Ad a playmaking DT from next yrs draft and you have a very strong, athletic and versatile DL. Replace Brooking with Nichols at OLB, plus MLB CLofton will have a yr under his belt, and we’ll have a quick, fast, youthful, athletic trio of starting LB’s.

We’ll be deep in quality CB’s with the return of VHutchins. Remember, he was the FA CB we orginally signed to replace DHall. We traded for CB DFoxworth, who’s now the starter at that position, when Hutchins went down for the season. I see drafting or signing a FA pass catching TE as our only OFF priority. What we accomplish this yr will just be gravy. I believe Mgt’s goal this yr was to build a solid team foundation, especially on OFF. I think they felt if everything worked out, this yrs team would be competitive, but I don’t think they imagined we’d be competing for the NFC South title.

Man, all of the crap the Falcons organization and fans have dealt with over the last few yrs makes you appreciate what we’re now experiencing that much more. ALL I CAN SAY IS, GOOOO FALCONS!!!!!!!!!!!

Leaf certainly is a worthless leech. Good thing we got Matt Ryan instead.

Talk about worthless leeches, I see D. Hall got another job. Proof that athletic ability is always attractive. Hopefully for his sake, he gets his head screwed on straight and can actually parlay that athletic ability into some good football playing. Either way, he’s rich (I had to say it before the human jock strap started chanting it again…).

Still, it really says something when the horrifically dysfunctional Raiders let you go after a short stint. Getting torched by your former team and it’s amazing rookie quarterback apparently doesn’t help the resume. Heh, heh, heh…

RAY-I recently found out that poor performance alone wasn’t the only reason DHall was released. It appears his contract was structured so that 16M of his of his contract wouldn’t be guaranteed until a predetermined date. However, if he became injured prior to that date, the 16M would be guaranteed on the date of the injury. Rather than trying to trade him, Al Davis felt his play wasn’t worth taking a chance on having the 16M guaranteed if he becomes injured. They also got some CAP relief with the timing of the move.

Let’s hear from all of you Saint fans and all of you negative minded, so called, Falcon fans about this win. I said our DB’s were good enough to handle the Saints WR’s, but they did better than I thought. Our biggest problem seems to be poor tackling around the line of scrimmage.

My biggest complaint was the coaching staffs decision to go conservative and try to run the clock out in the 3rd qtr. We should have continued putting pressure on their DEF and used more play action passing. Then we run the clock out in the 4th qtr. Otherwise, this was a very satisfying win.

By the way fantasy lovers and Saints fans/Falcons haters, those 400+yards Drew Brees threw for were only empty yards in a prevent defense long after the game was out of reach. If the game were closer I would guess he would have been in the 280-350 yard range at best.

Stendec your are a racist idiot who can only sing one note i.e. hating on Brooking. Brooking is the forth leading tackler on the team. Lofton leads the team with 53 and Brooking has 50. Coleman and Milloy are at 52. So, Stendec, should we also cut these guys who essentially have the same amount of tackles over a nine game stretch? You are so predictable every week. Did Brooking sleep with your girlfriend? If Brooking had 25 tackles in the game with two interceptions your posts would be the same. Give it up.

Man, what a nice win. A great win. Now we need to get right back after Tampa and Carolina. We owe them a beating.

Today’s observations:

Matt Ryan had a 134.0 quarterback rating. Very un-Leaf like, despite what haters like to say. This kid is earning his $72 million instead of sitting on his laurels and whining.

Nice to see some REAL cornerbacks at work, and not penalty-laden prima donnas. Speaking of which, somebody send those nice folks in Denver a fruit basket and thankyou card. We couldn’t be happier about Dominique Foxworth’s performance today.

Falcons secondary gave up around 300 yards, but still made HUGE plays when they needed to.

Our guys looked like a veteran, well-coached team heading into the playoffs. WOW is all I can say. Great win, Falcons!

Joe Brave, You are a stupid gringo like so mnay other gringos. You fight everything Black people try to accomplish. As a student at GSU, my Spanish friends laugh at you whites because while your attention is on black people progess we are steady coming across the border. We will soon have all we need to elect a Spanish President in 2016. Gringo minds have so much hate for black people———Oh well, welcome President Garcia.

Sell this “reconquista”, brown people rising up against the whites BS over at your La Raza website. Most of your gringo brothers are moving back to the “motherland” because they can’t get drivers licenses or jobs anymore…not to mention ICE is deporting the hell out of them.

Let’s review the prediction made by VICK SUPPORTER 2 prior to the game this week:

YOU GUYS ARE HILARIOUS

THERE IS NO WAY THIS GAME IS EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE

KEEP ON DREAMING

SAINTS 37——LOSERS 7

THE UPCOMING GAMES ARE NOT DETROIT/KC/OAKLAND

THE FALCONS WILL HAVE AN 0-6 RECORD AGAINST THE NFC SOUTH

THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT SEASON ————- AGAIN :)

Does this guy know football or what? He must be almost as dumb as his hero that threw away hundreds of millions of dollars to watch animals rip each other to pieces, rather than ever take the time to study a playbook. How could someone continue to come on here and keep making a complete a$$ of themselves? Oh, I know because of a complete lack of intelligence. Hey VICK SUPPORTER 2, this just in…this Matt Ryan kid might be pretty good.

According to FJR, VS2 can be banned from this blog without any just cause simply because the AJC doesn’t care for the tenure of his comments. Right FJR.? How’s my ninth grade civics lookin’ now.? BTW amendment, amendment.

Hell of a game today from all our players, still going to be satisfied with a .500 season but I’ve got a lot of reason to hope for better now… already looking ahead and hoping all the focus/vision/hard work of this season carries over to next.

RMS-sometimes it’s good to be wrong and this was one of those times, right. I’m also a big Hawks fan and last yr all Hawk fans were just happy we made the playoffs and predicted a 4 and out against the Celtics. You can bet all of us were elated to be totally wrong. It was the best series of the playoffs and no other team was as competitive against them.

Isn’t it odd how the Braves, for a long time, were the only Atlanta sports franchise that gave us any sense of pride. Now, they’re down and the Hawks and Falcons are on the rise. All the Braves need is for some individual to buy them out from under corporate ownership. The Braves, like most any sports franchise owned by corps, are nothing more than a tax writeoff. That’s why they establish a spending cap, which restricts their ability to go after player, especially pitchers.

The Falcons had that same kind of mentality when thay were owned by the Smith(Clampetts)family. The Falcons now have excellent ownership. Blank is committed to winning and has shown he has the ability to learn from his mistakes and turn a negative into a positive.

There are some so called fans that don’t want to give him any credit for hiring the people that are responsible for the success of this yrs team. However, they’re quick to blame him for all of the teams past failures under his watch. These are the types of people who maximize a person’s failures(how often a person falls down) and minimize that person’s successes(how often they successfully get back up and try again). WITH THEM, THE GLASS IS ALWAYS HALF EMPTY.

I think the one of the reasons why the Falcons are doing so well is because they have a coach they are willing to lay it on the line for. In a sense they are “overachieving” but they want to play for Smith and the other coaches unlike last year. I like the Hawks too and while its too early in the season to tell what will become of them, its good for a young team to get off to a good start. Hopefully they dont fizzle out later in the season and start finger pointing.

richbrave,

I said nothing about being banned from the blog without just cause. I said that its not a violation of your first amendment rights. When you can find where private, non-governmental entities are bound by the first amendment, let me know.

The government can condition public funding on first amendment principles, and the government can pass other laws that create first amendment type protections, based on the commerce clause. However, in no way, shape or form does the first amendment apply to the AJC’s actions. As far as I know, there aren’t any laws that protect user speech on blogs. Richbrave, can you point out exactly what type of cause of action a banned user would have? What exactly the AJC would be sued for? You sarcastically ask “VS2 can be banned from this blog without any just cause simply because the AJC doesn’t care for the tenure of his comments. Right FJR.?” As far as I can tell, that answer is yes. Remember, “its just not fair” isn’t a law.

Ray, the Foxworth trade is just another notch in Dimitroff’s belt. After a great draft the Foxworth deal is looking like a steal considering we only gave up a late round draft choice. When we first got this guy I thought he was just some stop gap type player to add much needed depth. But hell this kid can play if the last two weeks are any indication. He was breaking up passes all over the field yesterday. And he is young with good size for a corner. Doesn’t look like tall receivers are going to be any trouble for him. I don’t think grimes will start again unless someone gets injured.

Roan St-it looks like we’ll have 3 shutdown CB’s next yr when and if VHutchins returns to form after his season ending injury. I’ll bet LMalloy is starting to get the same old feeling with the Falcons he had when the Patriots first started their quest to dominance.

We are rapidly developing a dynamic passing attack to go with our strong rushing attack. Hopefully, when LT Baker returns our OL shuffling will no longer be necessary and our rushing OFF will get back on track. This a completely different team that faced Carolina and Tampa Bay earlier. I’ll bet the much improved team that played the last 2gms would have won the gm against Philly. We’ll also win our remaining gms againt divisional rivals Carolina, Tampa Bay and New Orleans.

Once CB Foxworth learns the system and Baker returns, I can see us easily winning 4 TO 5 of our last 7gms. WITH THE WAY THE FALCONS HAVE PLAYED AND IMPROVED UP TO THIS STAGE OF THE SEASON, ONLY A HATER AND/OR MORON WOULD FOCUS ON FORMER PLAYERS OR CHOOSE TO FOCUS ON FINDING FAULT WITH ANY OF OUR CURRENT PLAYERS.

To Ken S/Captain Obvious…9 times out of 10 you end your blog with nonsense(HATER,MORON,etc, etc…) and YOU wonder where it keeps coming from. And you ask me, what is my point!?? It’s good to see the major networks giving the Falcons props. Been a LONG time. Thanks…

MWC-I don’t see you as a bad person, but you have obviously made that accessment of me. I would like for you to go back and count the number of comments I’ve made on this blog and identify the one’s than end with HATER, MORON, etc, etc, as you claim. Then tell everyone if it comes anywhere close to the 9 out of 10 you claim.

It’s been proven that people with a tendency to embellish, in an attempt to make a point, also have a tendency to frequently lie. Just food for thought.
