Should Falcons bring D. Hall back

DeAngelo Hall has worn out his welcome in Oakland. Al Davis and Tom Cable hhave given him the Lane Kiffin salute. You know, good bye and we’re not not paying you either!

D. Hall seemed fine all last week. He was talking a good game on a conference call with the AJC. Before the game, he came over and spoke. “Wassup, D.LED!!!,” he said. “I’ll see you after the game,” I told him. “Cool,” he said. He ran back to his drill.

Of course after the game he bolted and didn’t talk to anyone. I called both of his cell phones and sent text messages. Nothing from D. Hall yet.

Sent my buddy Jason Jones from the Sacramento Bee a text last night. “Has D. Hall surfaced?” Jones shot back, “No and the team might waive him tomorrow.”

It did.

Should the Falcons get near this? They know him best — his baggage and dirty laundry. The pass defense is improving, but he could help if his head is in the right place.

To win football games, you need football players. D. Hall’s a football player when he’s on his game. Does he have too baggage to take back?

They would have to sit down and get an understanding about how he needs to go forward.

I don’t suspect that he fits the rebuilding plans and kind of ticked off management. But you know, if you can get him on the cheap, do you do it? Reminder, this is football and you need football players.

Also, “Boo Boo” asked me to check out an announcer stat. “The announcers gave a stat that was surprising (which D. Ledbetter can double-check). They said that Sean Peyton’s Saints have never had a fourth quarter come from behind victory.”

My man Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times Picayune came through via e-mail.

“Had to look that up (because) it surprised me too. Technically it’s true — the Saints have not won a game when they were trailing after three quarters. But they’ve won at least four games when they trailed DURING the fourth quarter, including the Week 7 win over Atlanta last year in the Superdome.

“The others that I found were Tampa Bay and Philly at home in 2006 and Tampa Bay in Week 1 this year. I think that’s it but could double check if you need it again.

Interesting stat, though, thanks for pointing it out.

Mike”

Thanks Mike!!!

JC, he’s humbled now? WTF! Meangelo Hole will never be humbled, just like Pacman will never get his $hit straight. The only things he is truly gifted in are running his mouth and making an A$$ of himself.

I figured the bashers would jump on this amazing story…but this is what I have to say and ask…D-Led, didn’t it strike you funny that D Hall said he thought about retiring 7 games into a season after he got paid???? When I read that and then listened to it on AtlantaFalcons.com, I thought “dumb thing to say”. That comment has sealed his fate. I think he is a good player, not close to great or as good as he thinks he is, but a good player. Should we look at him, sure…would be awesome for Steve Smith in a few weeks, but I am sure the team has moved on and doesn’t want guys with that much baggage. Truth be told, I am sure the Cowboys and Broncos go after him with the Broncos going hard since that would anger Al Davis. Smart move by the Raiders to dump him. What I think the Falcons should do next year is go after No. 21 on the Raiders hard. Now, that is a great CB. Look forward to your response D-Led.

Hall is a cancer to any football team. He begged to leave when the Falcons were down, and there is no way he should come back since were having a successful season. You could see in the game against OAK that he was a joke when he was burnt on a play for a Michael Jenkins TD. They panned to D Hall on the sideline, laughing as if nothing happened. I think i’ll pass on D Hall.

That’s the worst thing the Falcons could do. Without a long-term contract, he’s going to try and pad his stats as much as possible. Ala the New Orleans game last year, when he went for the interception at the end of the half rather than just knocking the ball down.

He’s a cancer. He doesn’t care about winning. He’s probably crazy. I’d rather see Brent Grimes bend and not break than see Meangelo Fall get torn up to pieces and divide the locker room.

Only in Atlanta can a player with no off the field issues, no arrest, basically a clean off the field record be called a thug. What has Hall done to be called a thug? Im guessing nothing but in good ol Atlanta that does not matter. Hall is still better than any cb we have on this team. Im pretty sure if we could sign him to a reasonable deal it would work out fine. This coaching staff can handle him. They don’t allow that stuff the coaches in the past did so im pretty sure they could get Hall to play ball and keep his mouth shut.

Why bring back a slightly above-average corner with a me-first attitude who is a proven cancer in the locker room (and on the sidelines, for that matter)?

With his physical skills, he should be a shut-down corner, but we’ve all seen (painfully so) that he’s not. To mave, suggesting that we get Hall to cover Steve Smith in a few weeks, all I can guess is that you have Smith on your fantasy team. I’ve treated hand towels better than Smith treats MeAngelo.

Hey Y’all:

Bring Hall back on one condition: That he play with “ONE HEARTBEAT!!”. That he play as a team player and keep the attention off himself and let his play on the field do all the talking. That he understands that the team first in winning and losing games. And to not get into situations on the field that hurts the team chances to win. We all now D’ Hall is a player. Let’s be honest with ourselves. I like his excitement and emotions he shows on the field. It appears he gets in trouble when personalizing his efforts against players he plays and advertising them to the media. His comments and actions are then taken notice during games. Then here comes the penalties against him in some minor cases. But they do occur and it may hurt the team. He also needs to curb his mouth towards coaches who are repremanding him and/or correcting him regarding his play or behavior on the field. I know this is a lot of minor stuff I believe D’Hall can correct, but one of the most important thing he must learn is that there is a “NEW CULTURE” in the Falcon organization and that is “ONE HEARBEAT: TEAMWORK AMONG ALL IN THE ORGANIZATION AND OUT. TO INCLUDE THE COACHES, THE PLAYERS, THE OWNER, THE MEDIA, AND THE FANS. WE ARE “ONE HEARTBEAT!!!”. On sundays and throught the week, we do our jobs communicating, preparing, and playing with “ONE HEARTBEAT!!” AND WE HAVE FUN DOING IT. I am sure D”Hall can understand that because he is a “PLAYER WHO CAN MAKE PLAYS.”

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! This is a SECRET from a FALCON FAN!
TELL EVERBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO FALCONS!!

Ledbetter, you are correct that we need to upgrade our corners. Rather than go for the quick fix you’re looking for (but wouldn’t get) out of Hall, I’d much rather give Dimitroff the opportunity to fix it the right way.

Mr. Ledbetter - quit trying to stir the pot. Why would any team want this egomaniac on their roster? He’s not a solid player. He’s not a cover corner that he makes himself out to be. It’s going to be funny as hell to see him released and see what happens to his ego when nobody picks him up right away. His head is going to look like the balloon my son stuck a straight pin through the other day. It’s going to explode. Give him about 4 weeks with no contract and if he can keep his nose clean and mouth shut during that time (both highly doubtful) then someone could offer him a minimum deal and make him play for almost nothing to further deflate that ego.

I’m gonna answer this question in the most non-biased way I can think of. To even suggest bringing DeAngelo Hall back to the Falcons after all he didn’t do for this team would be a step in the wrong direction. The problem with him isn’t his skills as a player but his attitude in the locker room. He thinks he’s Deion Sanders, a future HOF cornerback and he’s not. At least when Deion had the audacity to talk smack, he could at least back it up. And to be honest, he’s not having THAT bad of a season with the Raiders. He’s fourth among CBs in the league in interceptions. You might not like him as a football player, but that stat alone suggests that he’s a viable cornerback in the NFL.

Hall has gotten in his own way too many times in the past, and that has led to incredibly bad consequences for the Falcons. Let’s all remember something else, too, about this whole thing with him: HE was the one that requested a trade during the off-season, thinking that he wouldn’t have a role on this team. He was the one courting any and every suitor he could think of in order to get away from this organization. The Falcons obliged his request, he got his money from the Raiders, and now the new beginning for his career has taken a severe nosedive. The Falcons are actually looking like geniuses here for making that trade, which leads me to believe like everyone else - Al Davis is a senile old man and he needs someone to help him make decisions regarding his football team. There is NO WAY I let the Falcons sucker me out of a 2nd and 5th round draft pick for Hall.

Let’s be real here - DeAngelo Hall isn’t a problem person. He doesn’t get into trouble away from the field, he’s not filling up a police blotter or anything like that. He gets into trouble on and around the football field and that usually translates to his actions and behavior on the sidelines and in the locker room and that’s where people form their opinion of him. Whether you like him or not there are two distinct perceptions - DeAngelo Hall the man and DeAngelo Hall the football player. DHall the football player needs to find out who he is on the football field (Deion Sanders he’s not). We really don’t know DHall the man, because we really haven’t seen him in any setting outside of football. To judge him (as a man) away from football when you really don’t know him is wrong.

Am I defending him? In a way, I am. I defend him as a man, but not as a football player. As a football player he’s a damn good athlete, but he hasn’t put all of it together (the mental aspect to go with the athletic, physical aspect). Once he does that he’s going to be a very good cornerback in this league. Until then, he’s going to be perceived as a bad apple that is only out for himself and doesn’t care about winning until he actually makes that breakthrough and becomes the cornerback a lot of people thought he would be coming out of Va Tech.

When Dimtroff dumped all the salaries, I said we went 4-12, with them, we can go 4-12 without them.

I said I will watch as long as we have players working hard, trying their best, and playing as a team and acting like professionals, regardless of the record.

But it is a funny thing, when you do that, you don’t go 4-12. Dimtroff is plugged in, he knows all the skinny in this league, how do you think he found Mike Smith?

DeAngelo? He ain’t coming back, he ain’t ever coming back.

Hey “D-Led,”

First of all, do you even bother proof reading what you write? I know it’s a blog, but for our benefit pretend you have a journalism degree. Second, are you serious with this question? We are playing well, and our secondary has been a pleasant surprise this season. Why would we risk upsetting that? D Hall has never played one single snap for anyone except himself. He’s selfish, and he proved last week that he’s too scared to stick his nose in there and make a tackle on the corner. Let him get burned repeatedly and then take his frustration out by getting multiple personal foul penalties for someone else. But if nobody else wants him, he can just remain unemployed with his hand out and not worry because Barack “Our Lord and Savior” Obama will take care of him.

Bring back D Hall? There may be more ambiguity to the answer; or simple yes, or no.

I do have an issue with this word “thug”. Why is it that the word must be applied to black athletes on a pervasive basis? There seems underlying prejudice when one, regardless of color, renders the adjective to the competitor.

Some people reaction may be knee-jerk; an almost ready-made response to a potential concern of spoken nature. Guess you could put lip stick on a pig, and it’s still a pig.

I would love to have D-Hall return to the ATL. I believe that Hall was misunderstood here in Atlanta AND he was unmotivated to play lights out, although he did make the pro bowl several years. I never did quite understand how he accomplished that feat. At any rate I would welcome Hall back because I think that Hall did not get along with Bobby Petrino, however, Hall was never a problem during the Jim Mora era. The Vick factor (VA Tech) on Hall should not be a problem; I realize that Hall and Vick were teammates at Va. Tech and are friends, but there is a real good chance that Vick will never return to the Falcons, so I would take a chance on bringing D-Hall back, simply because the Falcons still have a weakness at corner and if D-Hall can get mentorship from Dione Sanders plus if D-Hall can return to his pro bowl form, I think Hall can eventually help the Falcons. D-Hall wouldnt make an immediate positive impact, but should D-Hall return to pro bowl form, D-Hall may be the missing ingredient in the Falcons making it deep into the playoffs eventually. With all that being said, give D-Hall one more chance, with this being his third chance to play football. If D-Hall screws up or if D-Hall turns into a cancer as he did before, then cut him off the team.

And one question for all the folks here that are adamant in their dislike for DeAngelo Hall and Michael Vick…..is EVERYONE who likes/liked these two former players a THUG? Was Warrick Dunn a THUG? Was Alge Crumpler?

I ask these questions because it strikes me as funny when people talk about how Dimitroff cleared out the THUG element and only wanted players of character. Funny because Dunn, who is playing in Tampa with the Bucs, still has roots here in Atlanta; his foundation is STILL building homes and helping people get new homes. Funny because Crumpler STILL does work in the community here in Atlanta.

As for the fan element, I happen to be a fan of Vick; when all his problems emerged I was one of the first people to say how stupid he was. I KNEW he was gonna get time for this, not because he’s a high profile black athlete and, in some circles, was being picked on because of his status. I said he was stupid for allowing his ‘boys’ to get him involved in something that was OBVIOUSLY criminal. Where are those ‘boys’ now? They folded on him like origami and hung him out to dry.

That being said, am I a THUG? I happen to be a college-educated person with a family. To suggest that just because I support or root for a person strictly based on their associations or how they’re perceived is ignorance. Do I view either Vick or Hall as role models? No, because if I need athletes to be role models for me (or my kids) then I’m not doing my job as a person in society or a parent.

So, please, let’s get over ourselves in thinking that we’re all that these two people aren’t. You don’t know them from Adam. Stick to the conversation at hand, which is - should the Falcons entertain the idea of bringing him back to Atlanta. As I’ve said before, that would be a huge mistake for this franchise if they do.

Bringing D-Hall back would signal that the Falcons think they are good enough to be contenders right now, and that they should be pursuing veterans who can put them over the hump. I’m sorry, but a 5-3 record padded by wins against Detroit, Kansas City, Oakland, and a shorthanded Packers team is not convincing me that they are at that stage yet. Add in the obvious baggage D-Hall brings to the table and I don’t see how they would benefit.

DeAngelo Hall is a incredibly talented Child that doesn’t have the first inkling of a team concept.
Why would the Falcons bring back a player that has the potential to destroy the unity that the team has created thus far? We got a 2nd round pick for MeAngelo and through draft day trades ended up with a good (also hurt) LT and a developing MLB who is leading the team in tackles. Keep DeAngelo out of Atlanta, but i wouldn’t mind if another NFC South team signed him, so Ryan could pick him apart twice a year.

Since Vick’s name has been brought up as usual I figured I might as well say this too: there’s a big, enormous, gigantic difference between D-Hall and Vick. Vick single-handedly brought his team to the playoffs and was primarily responsible for overcoming the horrendous coaching staff and making this team respectable for most of the time he was here. D-Hall may have made some great plays here and there but he never had the kind of team-changing impact that Vick had. Vick is a game-changing player, whereas D-Hall is just a pretty good player (when he feels like it). There’s no comparison between the two.

D Led - Have you been smoking crack?

Most of the fans above are of one sentiment - the only conclusion a logical, reasonable, fan who has watched this team during both during Meangelo’s tenure and this year could derive. This being that Hall should never see the GA Dome from the home sideline again (unless he BUYS a ticket to watch the game with his unearned millions).

Fortunately Dimitroff and Mike Smith won’t take the bait on the suggestion that we take Hall back.

Hall was too disruptive to the Falcons, has an insatiable ego, and too many times does not cover his man. I got tired of watching him play way off his man and only after the reception tackle him after a gain. Other times he would come late to a tackle and pile on at the end. He certainly is gifted but this is negated. While Houston or Foxworth or Grimes are still learning, I’ll take them over Hall any day.

We do need corner help, and Emmit Thomas is DHall’s true mentor, if we can get him cheap I say we do it. He won’t complain now that he’s humbled and playing on a winning ballsquad. Going back to the team that drafted him, where he lives, he might even return to probowl form. You really can’t judge anyone on the Raiders this year because the Raiders make you worse than you are. If we can get him for like 1 mil for the year I think he would instantly upgrade our most glaring weakness

They should not get anywhere near this locker room cancer. If they do they do it to their own demise. I hope the new look front office and coaching staff is smarter than that. I realize they still have issues in the secondary but Hall is not going to change that and you would then have issues with the whole team chemistry. I believe the new falcons are smarter than that.

Dont forget folks, D-Hall got that name “D” Hall, the D stands for being a Defensive Specialist! So dont go around dissin D-Hall because D-Hall is GREAT and we are desparately in need of his enormous defensive cornerback skills. D-Hall is a SHUTDOWN or a LOCKDOWN cornerback, always has been, always will be. I really hope he comes home to the ATL so that we can forgive him for his foolish antics and obnoxious behavior and we can throw him back out there on Sundays to help upgrade our team.

I think Virginia Tech should be investigated there is no way in hell the Vick brothers or Hall or that other loser the Falcons drafted ever saw the inside of a classroom there if they could not play football they all would have been in jail by now there is no way the falcons would be that stupid to bring back an average at best player with his attitude the management and coachs would not make that mistake but who knows about lazy eyed Arthur he kind of reminds me of that insane Al Davis who was nutty enough to give Hall all of that money

Yep DHall is a cancer. He split this team up last season like TO did in Philly? You guys are too much. DHall’s problem was he thought too much of himself. He did not split this team up. He was not a distraction in the locker room. Bobby Petrino was. You ask any of the current players that played with him and they would just say he ran his mouth too much, but to call him a thug when he hasn’t been arrested and to call him a cancer that divided this team is a bit much. If he were to come back with a different mindset I wouldn’t mind having him back. He’s only 24 years old, and the talent is there it’s just the discipline that isn’t.

D-Hall is a SPECTACULAR shutdown corner back. Why he is so good that the Hall of Fame is named after Hall. In fact they may change the name in Canton someday to be the D-Hall of Fame. Last year’s Falcon team was miserable to watch, and it was difficult for the players to play in the Petrino environment. Hall wanted out of Atlanta after last year. He burned his bridge by refusing to return punts to help the team, then announced he was going to lay down and do nothing in 2008, unless he got a contract extension. The Falcons got him his extension, with Oakland. That said, Oakland is a worse place to play than Atlanta was last year. Oakland has been in the tank since Gruden left. Ask Randy Moss if its easy to be motivated to play for a college assistant acting as head coach, because the owner is too cheap to hire an experienced head coach. Moss seems to have come away from his Oakland experience like he has been given a new lease on life. Wherever Deangelo goes, he might be the same way. Still, it shouldn’t be back with the Falcons, as we have a chemistry that cannot afford to mix in a guy with a history of having a “ME” attitude.

Interesting proposition. The funny thing is our cornerback personel has been so incsonsistent in terms of whos playing, that I really cant tell you if our corners are a weakness or not.

Brent Grimes got picked on a few times, but also have shown incredible athleticism! Problem is, hes been out.

Von Hutchins has been out for the year, and he was our “solid replacement” for Hall.

and then you have Chris Houston, who has actually started to impress me.

So, we dont know enough to decide on whether another cornerback is even neccessary. But hey, if we can afford it, why not?!

I don’t feel that The Falcons should even be entertaining the thought of bring back DeAngelo Hall because he was always getting smoked by players for the opposite team when he was in Atlanta and the same thing is happening in Oakland. I always thought he and Vick were over-rated.

If I recall correctly he wanted to leave,so I say let him stay away. The team is playing better now.

Is this even a serious question, or trying to get p** off answers from the readers? The Falcons have finally rid the team of cancers with Hall, Vick, and Crumpler, and Joe Horn. Roddy White was a part of that posse, but finally surrounded himself with quality people, and look how his production has sky rocketed. Finally the Falcons have a team that will listen, and play together, so why in the hell would you bring back that selfish a*? Keep it going Falcons, and pay no attention to this trash about Hall.

Again, I ask….how was Crumpler a cancer on this team? What did he do that was so cancerous? What, because he remains Michael Vick’s friend? Gotta come with a better one than that.

And if memory serves, Roddy White had a decent enough year LAST YEAR (over 1,000 yards receiving) when all these players were on the team. So to group him in with the so-called ‘cancers’, then prop him up is hypocrisy.

For one, this question should have never been asked, given the amount of anger and general dislike for DeAngelo Hall in this town. You should have seen this coming DLed. The Falcons aren’t gonna take a chance on bringing him back. You just basically lit a fuse on a topic that should be done with, but because you have nothing else to write about, you incite this junk…..

I am thinking this could be one of the greatest one season turn-arounds in history. I think this pretty much sums up MeAngelo’s value… In his eight games in Oakland, Hall was beaten 40 times for 552 yards on 66 passes thrown his way, according to data compiled by STATS LLC. He gave up more yards than any defender this season and was tied for third worst in catches allowed.

Ghetto, Thug, Cancer.

DOL, you’ve been here long enough to know that’s what you get when you discuss a high profile Black athlete who is super humble, super nice, and has a super PR rep.

Forget whether or not the man can play. That’s not even relevant to most of the “NO” votes in here.

Forget the fact that he has a ton of good years ahead of him as a NFL player.

These fools would rather misrepresent the how and why of his departure from Atlanta. Misrepresent the how and why of his leaving Oakland.

Somebody is going to pick up D-Hall and he is going to perform well for them. If the Falcons’ brass is as smart as we hope they are, this will be looked at the same way Randy Moss was looked at when the Patriots brought him in. Dimitroff was there for that one, and I think everyone would say that was a great decision.

I just hope the Falcons aren’t tuned in to the redneck lunatic fringe.

3 years ago Deangelo Hall was named NFL’s fastest man at the Pro Bowl. Last weekend he was bested by 3 steps by Jenkins for an easy touchdown for Matt Ryan or even any second string QB. D Hall got Paid! Just like my boy Vick will - just so long as he pays the 6MM her owes the Falcons or he won’t. Just wait till all the offers that line up. I hear there’s a 3 store minimart offering him $50 to sign autographs. You know I’m smart with the math so he should have all the 6MM in like a week. Looks like we have 266 Nays, 53 Hell Nays and 2 Yeahs.

The punt returner idea is out of the box.

Hall is on his way back to Atlanta from Oakland. He’s talked to NFL.Com’s Steve Wyche and said it was a business deal, salary dump. The Raiders told their media it was a performance related move.

Just last week Raiders interim coach Tom Cable was talking about how D. Hall got his swagger back. This is saying he can’t play.

NFL Network is reporting that several teams have contacted Hall’s agents.

I would advise the Falcons to leave well enough alone and seek more team players to fill the needs.

By Decatur Bred

IF there was some kind of way that we could be assured that he would not let his emotions get in the way of his play, I would love to have him back. I used to love D.Hall and I was SOOO excited when we drafted him. He has just shown himself to be too immature. You can’t complain to the zebras during a play when you feel like you didn’t get a call. He’s just too immature IMO. He let his emotions get the very best of him last year and the team had to pay for it. The Carolina game would be an obvious example.

In his eight games in Oakland, Hall was beaten 40 times for 552 yards on 66 passes thrown his way, according to data compiled by STATS LLC. He gave up more yards than any defender this season and was tied for third worst in catches allowed.

MeAngelo “I couldn’t cover you in a” Hall come back? No way, we are doing fine without him. It is easier to get the opponent off the field when your DB isn’t getting into a sissy-fight with Steve Smith, or when he isn’t getting toasted by Hines Ward with one shoe. He is the most overrated player that I have seen in a long time. My only hope is that he goes to one of our upcoming opponents so he can get smoked again by our ROOKIE QB & 2nd receiver…

I think those who want to bring him back have short term memory loss. DeAngelo Hall basically embarrassed the Falcons by saying to them I don’t want to play for you guys any longer trade me. Our coaches and front office tried to talk to him he didn’t want to hear it. Some of you are big on players who don’t want to be disrespected well how about the Falcons who did get disrespected by DeAngelo. Some of you think a leopard changes there spots some think people change odds are they don’t. DeAngelo basically said unless I get a coach like Jim Mora who does not mess with me then I want to go elsewhere. He got his wish time to move on. Players get paid a lot they don’t get to decide who runs the team or make the decisions. We have a cohesive team now let’s find another DB who can be a team guy we have already been down this road and it did not work.

Wait fellow Falcon fans! Let’s not dismiss this so fast. Let’s not dismiss this so fast. think about what you are getting in D Hall, and in case M Vick. You get two players with great legs. Let’s take both of em back at deep discounts and make them cheerleaders….

By J

November 6, 2008 9:35 AM | Link to this

Even before Vick disgraced himself publicly, this team was an embarrasement. Players like Vick and Hall are simply “payday” players. No heart, no drive to excel, just give me my money. Seeing Meangelo laughing on the sidelines after Jenkins burned him brought back so many memories of Vick doing the same thing after a terrible loss. It’s not enough to want to win, you have got to hate losing. Vick, Meangelo and their ilk only care about the payday. Sure they want to win, but if the money is there, losing just is not that bad.

The success this Falcons team has had has been a pleasant surprise, and it is made all the more sweet by the fact that there seems to be an attitude of professionalism, class and self respect, something we never got with any recent previous regime.

Mike Smith seems to have the respect from his players and he is getting results. Don’t mess that up by bringing in Meangelo, a true second rate talent but a first rate jackass. We can do much better.

He does have some talent but not as much as he thinks he does, he is a legend in his own mind but no one else’s!! The Raiders were smart to cut their losses now and while some other team will pick him up, his time with Atlanta is OVER.

By flimflam

November 6, 2008 9:59 AM | Link to this

I watched Hall’s interview before the game last Sunday and “MEANGELO” is an appropiat moniker for this guy! He was asked his thoughts on White’s improvement over the past couple seasons and instead of saying Roddy worked hard and it’s paying off, Meangelo said, “yeah well you know I use to work with him on his routes and I taught him how to read coverage and I helped him build up his stamina and speed burts!

I say that to say, I had given up on the Falcons and truly thought Ryan was overrated, I stand corrected and I love the team we have right now, If we bring back Hall I will lose all respect for this team yet Again!

MeAngelo or Angela is out. I think he has all the ability, speed, and atheletisim he needs. He is waqy off between the ears. He was really good , and can be great, but he has not been the same player since Mr. Steve Smith burnt him. All the talk about dinner before the game, none of that mattered. Confidence is alot at this level. Angela lost his/her belief in himself and it shows. Your mouth can only write the check not cash it. Angela could be great again once he realizes he is not all that good now. He will have to go back to basics - run, cover, catch , and tackle, and shut the hell up since you cant back it up.

It isn’t all about D. Hall and his agent. The NFLPU sees Hall as a cash cow and will not allow him to take a “cut in pay”, just because Al Davis is trying to use a California law as legal reason to not meet contractual agreements. The Falcons unloaded Hall because he was in the “pay me more than I am worth” phase of his career (time of service, with a past history of Pro Bowl recognition, with no severe season-ending injuries), so they unloaded him to clear some cap space. Hall would not and could not come back to the Falcons as a minimum salarly player. Not only his attitude would disrupt the chemistry, but his salary would upset next year’s (and beyond) abilities, as far as draft, resigning good players on the team, and signing free agents. Hall was sold for two draft choices. When Vick is cleared by the NFL to play again, he too will be sold for two draft choices, if not two draft choices and a player. The Falcon plan is not to win now at all costs. They are planning for a winning team that will win consistently, well beyond the normal playing “life span” of D. Hall. The Pats don’t have stars, as much as they have a system that allows good players to star. Look at how the Braves won 14 division titles, always saying goodbye to an overpaid vet, because they had confidence in promoting a quality rookie. Dimitroff and Smith have brought that philosophy to Atlanta. Just because you have D. Hall’s phone number doesn’t make you his agent go-fer, so that you need to go ask Coach Smith if he would consider your fantasy player as something to comment on. I can hear the answer now, “I have no comment about anyone not on our team now.”

Everybody is so enamored with Turner our new running back and it is well deserved. He is one of the most gifted backs in the league. But think of this scenario, WHAT IF MIKE VICK is freed and he comes back to play halfback for the Falcons. With Vicks electrifying speed and Turners power we would have the best running back tandem in football. Of course, Jerius Norwood would have to take a seat on the bench. But I cant imagine how great that would be to have MIKE VICK and TURNER both running the football for the Falcons. Of course we could also use an assortment of trick plays where the center could snap the ball to Vick instead of Ryan and then send Ryan out as a wide receiver to take a pass from Vick. I know it seems futile to talk about Vick, since Vick is currently a jailbird, but once he is freed he is the property of the Falcons and Im sure the Falcons will use his talents as much as they can before they dispose of him. Why not qive Vick a second chance, doesnt every American deserve a second chance at life.
