Milloy arrest is shocking
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Players in the locker room didn’t want to discuss Lawyer Milloy’s arrest for driving under the influence in Gwinnett County.
He was also charged with speeding. With no police report filed yet, the details are still kind of sketchy at this point.
But about the only place you’re leaving from at that time of the morning is a club or the Waffle House after the club. Don’t know if Milloy is a big Waffle House guy or not.
The county’s website says he was arrested at 4:35 a.m. and a public information officer told me that he was bonded out at 9:48 a.m.
So “Law Dog” had about five hours to figure things out.
He’s one of the unquestioned leaders of this young team.
Milloy has never been in trouble with the law to our knowledge in New England or Buffalo. Other than thinking Bill Belichick was a crook for waiving him.
So perhaps he went out on the town and didn’t hire a driver.
Coach Mike Smith said the team would handle the matter internally. (Buzz words for hefty fine, likely).
Given the Falcons past problems - do we need to enumerate them here? - the team is hyper sensitive about these legal situations.
What should the Falcons do to Milloy? Fine him? Make him runs the Georgia Dome stairs? Hire a driver next time?

Law Dog, like so many local drivers, is just the victim of some overzealous fund-raising pigs. He probably had like two beers.
Make no mistake, kids- dui’s are about making more money for our corrupt local government. Maybe the Mayor needed some drug cash for her son-in-law.

Ryan is out of jail but not yesterday. you will hear this song and dance all year long.I think Ryan is a good kid in a bad place. They want him to be the hope and I hope he just don’t get killed. Why would management set this guy up to fall. All on hope. This guy need to ride the bench and learn the pro game and in three or four years he will be ready;but oh no we need a PR move and his body is going to get beat down because of REDNECK pride. All to prove a PR point! This kid need time to grow . Management pride is going to get his time in the NFL cut short! I Still say bring Vick back and play about Three years and this kid will fly high. But oh no we got a point to prove with PR: this is dumb as dirt Blank. ( Save Matt Ryan). We still need a offense line and linebackers and defense lineman.

Seriously JSS? Delusional AND Racist is no way to go through life. Holding on to the Vick era is not going to make your favorite football team any better. Mike Vick is not going to be a Falcon next year or ever again. Get used to it.
As for Obama, are you voting for him because you agree with his stance on issues or just because he is black?
If he is elected I guess my tax dollars will help you buy rims and Falcons tickets. Oh wait the team has too many honkies for you to support it. Just the rims then.

Hmmm, so the falcons were nothing before Vick? I vaguely remember them going to the superbowl before Vick got here. Then we go rid of the only QB to ever lead them to superbowl for Vick.
Truth is, Vick was a one trick pony, and once he lost a step, and Defense figured out how to play him, we was at best a 7-9 just like the finished his last two years.
Oh how the truth hurts.

Ok, rant over…back to business. By Sunday no one will remember this ever happened. The Falcons will beat KC, and good vibes will be all over the place.

First of all Mrs. Winna, why are you going off so harshly on Lawyer Milloy? Are you privy to some information that seemingly none of the rest of us have, not even the sports columnist who are writing these stories? You say that Lawyer has been driving under the influence for years - how do you know that? Were you with him? You say that his mug shot in the AJC virtually proves that this “noodnick” (what ever the heck that is)! But I am not sure what you may look like at 4:35AM, but most people do kind of look tired, and that is what the mug shot looked like to me (a tired individual that didn’t hit as many Tampa Bay Bucs as he may have wanted to hit). I don’t know Mrs. Winna, it seems that there may be alittle more to your story that meets the eye! Maybe we should do some investigative reporting on you and your household to see what is going on in the wee hours of the morning, and to see jsut how do you look at 4:35AM.

Apologize to team and hefty fine. He refers to himself as a leader- wants the Falcons to extend his contract. This doesn’t help. Apologize to team and hit him in the wallet. FIrst offense- he gets a second chance. Move on!

I like Lawyer- hope he gets through this. He is allowed one mistake. BUT, that pic of him on the sideline yelling at Matt Ryan. I hope he was encouraging him and picking him up. If he is busting his chops, the LawDog needs to stay on his side of the ball. There are enough problems on the defensive side of the ball. And he had some missed assignments yesterday. I bet he went drinking after the game because he was going to have to watch the game film in front of teammates. Hell! If I played like him yesterday, I too would have went out drinking. But, I would have called a cab

After watching Matt Ryan’s performance I wanted to get drunk myself so I can’t blame Milloy for that. Hopefully he can get the same lawyer that Georgia State Representative Ben Harbin (R) has and have his trial continued until after the 2015 season. It looks like the wheels are starting to wobble a little. You can’t cut a guy for getting drunk. If Babe Ruth had gotten cut or traded everytime he got drunk…well, you get the idea.

On the morning before Super Bowl XXXIII, Eugene Robinson was awarded the Bart Starr Award from the Christian group ‘Athletes in Action’ for his “high moral character”. However, that very night he was arrested for offering an undercover female police officer posing as a prostitute $40 for oral sex. Fast Forward- Team leader Lawyer Milloy arrested for DUI. Was it after a few too many beers over a hot game of Madden or rounds of whatever while enjoying close-up views of shoe models? Do the Falcons have some strange 10 year itch curse? We should be so lucky to have events like this happen only before Falcon Super Bowls. Might have to wait a tad for that.

Milloy didn’t do anything that 75% of the people reading this blog haven’t also done. He just got caught. I don’t condone this dangerous and illegal practice, but human beings make mistakes. This wasn’t some malicious crime — it was bad judgment. If it’s the first time, pay a fine, do some community service to help others avoid the same mistake. Learn from the experience. Is forgiveness dead?
If you really want to get riled up at something, get angry at the stupid laws we have prohibiting alcohol sales on Sunday and evenings, while at the same time promoting it in clubs and restaurants. They discourage the guy who wants to drink responsibly and encourage him to go to some establishment, where he can drink all he wants, but then must figure out how to get home.

Football players can be considered as role models, but at the same time we also have to realize that they are human beings, and human beings make mistakes. I cant recall Milloy being in trouble for anything before so its not like he’s a repeated offender. He made a mistake, lets not blow this out of proportion and continue to support the Milloy and the falcons.

The Truth,
Let me tell you who the biggest pigs are in DUI cases. It isn’t those of us in law enforcement. We have to fight to bring some drunk-as-a-skunk guy to jail, knowing he can be out in no time flat, and will no doubt fight the charge. It’s the attorneys. They’re the ones who profit from this the most. Trust me on that. So many DUI cases get either beaten or cut down to a lesser charge…for a fee. It seems like cops are just a-holes until you lose somebody via drunk driver. I lost my father that way. But I don’t take every possible DUI case personally.
To be absolutely honest about it, Lawyer Milloy simply got caught doing something that many people do every day and night. Even lots of law enforcement personnel do it. A lot of times though, people don’t get caught doing it, or they’re not so drunk that it’s obvious. Besides, there’s always your friend, the judicial system to give you an escape hatch…for a nominal fee of course.
Najeh, only too true. But as you know, the punishment doesn’t always fit the crime, and laws don’t change easily. Besides, like I said…DUI is a about money, not about safety. Sad and sick, but true. The officer doing the pull over is thinking safety in most cases. After that? It’s all about money, and the attorney profits the most.
This Gets Old, you know by now that what you want isn’t going to happen. And one man’s regulation is another man’s censorship. Just sayin’. I agree though, enough crap goes on that ain’t cool. But then, have you stepped into a sports bar lately?
I hope the injuries to Turner and Baker turn out to be minor and easily recovered from. We need both guys back in the lineup. I don’t think this team will just up and fold. The coaching staff is strong-willed. Unlike Mora or Petrino, they will continue to have confidence, and that will help the players. New Sheriffs in town…

This Gets Old - It actually IS all about Free Speech. Dont be a shmuck and know your Rights.
Ive said it before, keep it about football, or dont. But if you dont, hows about the folks who care about football just keep it to football, and stop getting your panties in a wad over some anonymous comments. I mean honestly Guy, its like jumping over a fire with a paper cone cup full of gasoline - Just dont do it and you wont burn. Its not really rocket science in here.
Football! - I gotta say, i was in North Georgia, Camping over the weekend. On Sunday, i was able to corral the crew to get packed up so we could at least attempt to make it home in time for the game - Thank God for the radio. I did more rushing than the Birds did on Sunday! But thats ok, next week will be greatness and we will move forward. We all knew this was to happen.
Go Birds - Go Offense!

I am a fan of Milloy but there is no excuse for this. He is a leader of this team , and what kind of image does his character now project on the rest of the team especially the younger ones? Are they to believe this is acceptable behavior? A bad decision that will probably have negative ripple effect. Given this teams recent history this is the last thing they need, a distraction.

DUI is a serious crime. The number of people that die in DUI related cases are staggering. Yes, Lawyer Malloy made a mistake, and yes many of us have done the same. But that still does not excuss it. Getting behind the wheel after drinking is like pointing a loaded gun at someones head. It should be taken seriously. Mr. Malloy should be forgiven but in this case because of his celeberty status he should be made to do public service and help lead a campaign against Drunk Driving. What if had an accident and hurt someone because of his mistake.

Lawyer…..if you’re gonna drink, get yourself a driver.
And I thought this Falcons team was gonna run the ball first? We ran the ball for 320 yards the previous week. We seem to have forgotten about that Sunday in Tampa. We come out and start the game with 3 passes. That was nothing more than an admission that our coaches did not feel we could run the ball against TB. They didn’t give it a chance. What’s up with that Coach Mularkey?

Why the surprise? Falcons are nothing but thugs. Every one of them. Arrests are norm not exception! Character football players win. Quality football players always compete. Professional football players never quit. The Falcons meet none of those qualifications! Another Falcon arrested? Whoop-de-do! Hardly stop the presses material. Gutless wonders went belly-up in Florida. Failed to dent end zone. What a shock! New coaches dumb as dirt! New quarterback is a Joey Harrington clone. Defense is more porous than Kari Lehtonen. Owner is embarrassment to himself. Overall worthless franchise going nowhere. I have watched this disaster since the first kickoff of the first game. This bunch of prideless losers far worse than expansion Falcons. Ouch! Oh well, best to all. To Hell with Falcons!

The Falcons came out throwing Sunday because the Bucs put eight men in the box. Ryan has the ability to check out of a play at the line of scrimmage based on the defensive formation and that is what he did. His brain is working just fine but he needs to improve on the execution. It’s tough to complete passes with 2000 lbs of defensive linemen in your face. By the way Tampa has a pretty good defense.
It’s obvious that the Bucs game plan was to stop the run and make Ryan beat them. It is a great defensive game plan for this edition of the Atlanta Falcons so you better get used to it. The more Ryan sees this the better he will become at beating it.
It is a “process” and this is part of it. From the comments here you would think the Falcons were expected to go undefeated.

You people gotta be kidding me
Atlanta/America is full of idiots. You got a guy on here ranting about racism when this is purley about sports and an Atheletes personal life You got hyper-moralist calling for Malloy’s head for a DUI. OMG at least he didn’t kill anyone. We know DUI’s are dangerous, but if Georgia was really concerned they’d have public transportation in Gwinett and it would stay open 24hrs, like in NY. You got these fair weather fans that are bashing the Team for individual mistakes. WTF are you poeple, Jesus now?
