I love the comment that he made about leaving “in good character.” Exactly how much character has he shown since he’s been here? The character of a whiny little teenage girl. If he had any character of any kind, he’d show the organization that was crazy enough to give him a 14.75 million contract for not doing SQUAT but sit on the bench and complain to the media just a bit of love by not taking that last 2.5 mil. which he still received (and it was the only thing he received) for doing absolutely nothing but being a cancer. What a freakin’ scumbag. I rarely ever wish an injury on someone, but I hope he gets signed somewhere for the league minimum, blows his knee out on the first route, and then gets unceremoniously cut. I played next to Mr HORN at Itawamba Jr college in Fulton Miss. He was a crybaby & a goldbrick then, he didnt want to pratice, always had something wrong with his leg, always got better on Friday before the game on Saturday. I knew when the Falcons signedn him they were just p** their money away. He has been a bigmouth,with a small tool, trouble maker every where hes been.

I will never forget listening to Joe Horn talk on 680 The Fan sometime last year, when he stated that men of power have legalized “hunting Bambi” and that dog-fighting is no different than deer hunting in terms of animal cruelty. Therefore, prosecuting Vick for his alleged crimes and yet allowing deer hunting to continue is a double standard.

Are you kidding me?

Look, I have never hunted a deer. I am not feeling defensive of hunters. But that was one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever heard uttered by an athlete or team owner in my life, and I think we have all heard a few doo-zies.

Joe Horn as an Atlanta Falcon was a whiney, finger-pointing, petulant child with a me-first attitude and the mental acuity of a large gnat. He clearly needed to go. Despite the nice things he did for the city of New Orleans after Katrina, he should not be allowed carte blanche to be the Falcon’s Village Idiot. He seemed to be poison for team chemistry, particularly the type of team-first attitude that the new regime is attempting to achieve.

I noticed two positive signs of things to come for this season while at the Dome last Saturday night. One, a great crown for a preseason game. Two, the Dome seemed to be “blacked out” if you know what I mean.

I noticed the same thing Mountain Jim. There should be less crime at the Dome this year now that the Vick lovers are gone. It might be safe to take the family again. There truely are a lot of morons on these blogs. Why would anyone with an ounce of intelligence and common sense call anyone else a THUG for looking out for his best interest and wanting to finish his career in style? All Horn was asking the Falcons to do was release him so he could sign with another team, and they initially refused. He decided to put pressure on them, which was his right, and it worked. He finally got what he’s been asking for all along. That’s called being an astute businessman, not a thug. Only someone with a certain culturally warped mentality would see it any other way.

The same pride that makes certain players successful, often drives them to want to end their careers being productive. Look at the problems BFarve has caused over the last few yrs with his on again off again retirement. When the Packers finally got fed up with his constantly changing mind and refused to take him back, he pressured them into trading him. Based on the way some of you are classifying Horn for what he did, I guess that makes Farve an ever bigger THUG, since he’s pulled the same stunt against the Packers more than once.

Bill Parcell has done far worse, and more than once. Does that make him a THUG, or is that label reserved exclusively for people of color? INQUIRY MINDS WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.

Actually, Atlanta Police records show that there was less crime at the Dome last year. Most law enforcement personnel attribute this to Vick no longer being on the team. Like it or not, the overwhelming amount of crime being committed at the Dome on game day is perpetrated by young black men. It is sad but true.

But there’s a problem… When a man tells a lie 5 times in public, and someone who knows better stops correcting him after the 4th, the public then accepts the lie as the truth. Let’s not have a case of “when keeping it real goes wrong.”, cause it’s starting to get a little to real on this blog. Horn’s situation is not about being black or white, they all wear the same helmet and uniform. The issue is sportsmanship. So I’m not sorry to see him go because THE TEAM is only as strong as its weakest link.

There are a few more weak links that need to go. None of them are thugs and their race really doesn’t matter. What matters at the end of the day is if they bring their A game on a consistent basis.

I for one am very encouraged with the Team, and the way it has played thus far. O-line= looks pretty solid,linebackers=pretty solid,running game AWESOME!! Recievers hmmmm, I guess Roddy White just needed someone that could actually Pass the Damn Football… Defensive backs=room for improvement,but still Solid. the only thing that worries me is the D-Line. Let’s talk Football,Yesterday is over, it is a New Day… This is My team and has been for 38 years. Is Joe Horn a Thug??? I don’t know and I really don’t give a $hit He didn’t perform here,soooo BYE BYE loser. It makes me sick the way Horn acted through this thing. He was getting paid according to the contract he signed…he showed his true character. It is too bad the Falcons gave him so much guaranteed money.

There was no guarantee that he would get to play as much as he wanted. There was no guarantee that he would get to play with the qb he wanted to play with either. He takes that risk when he signs with a team. The team takes the risk that he won’t get injured…that he won’t lose his speed…that he won’t reneg on his contract. Oh well…guess the Falcons are, as ususal, the losers.

The facts are relevant because in the past, white fans have been hesitant to go th the games because all of the crimes being committed by blacks. The Fulton County jail is full of young black men who have committed crimes. I’m sorry this offends you. Maybe you should focus your energy on helping to reform these convicts. igotxx3, coach smith said all four QB’s will get a chance to start in the preseason. So I have no doubt that DJ will get his shot in the final preseason game. Remember that coach smith came from Jacksonville where they had a very good mobile QB so I think that works in DJ’s favor. DJ brings a dimension that the other three don’t and I think coach Smith recognizes those attributes. Personally, I believe that harrington is going to be the odd man out unless DJ bombs in the final preseason game. I’m pulling for DJ because I think he has the potential to develop into a good player.

I have been following this blog for a long time, and only on a few occassions will I actually post something. This is one of those times. I don’t understand why people in Atlanta have to be so ignorant. I hope people outside of the state do not read these blogs and think we are stupid. I am embarrased to live here sometimes. Why is it no one bashed Vick when we were losing? I guess its just a coincidence that Roddy is catching passes now that Vick is gone? Ryan is a rookie, and it doesn’t matter if he starts now or next year, he will still have to learn on the field sometime. The Falcons will not make the playoffs no matter who is behind the center, but they are moving in the right direction. Sometimes I feel like the fans in Atlanta just want to see a show rather than win. I read how fans want Vick to come back even after what he did to them, or how Hawks fans want Josh Smith because he can wow the crowd with his dunks and blocks even though we are losing. Atlanta sports will not win until we get a winning attitude. Let the Hawks playoffs last year serve as a wake up call, THE ATLANTA FANS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!! If you want your team to win, go out and route for them, show them some support. Matt Ryan hasn’t even started a game yet and the fans won’t give him a fair shake cause he aint Mike Vick? C’mon people wake up!

Joe Horn is not a thug. He is a loudmouthed, overpaid, past his prime showboater that needed to go. His display in the game with the Vick protestors is why people lump him in on the thug name. The simple fact is he did not produce for what we paid him. By the same token, neither has Harrington. But, worst of all what is Jamal Anderson’s problem? Does he simply not care enough or what??? He seems to put forth zero effort. Does anyone have the scoop on what is going on with him?

Welikebaseball2, I appreciate the support. I was born and raised in Atlanta, and still follow the birds relentlessly. I just want to see a winner! I lived in Atlanta for 31 years, and now reside elsewhere but still follow the Falcons through thick and thin.

GATORZONE, it’s cool, we agree for the most part. I respect your passion for the team. I was born & raised in Atlanta too &, trust me, I’ll be in front of the tube pulling for the team…no matter who’s behind center. As for the demographic thing, I feel the same way. While white fans shouldn’t be accused of simply wanting a white quarterback just because they pull for one that happens to be of their race, black fans shouldn’t be accused of simply wanting a black quarterback just because they pull for one that happens to be of their race. ROAN ST-exactly what was it about my comments that made you change your assessment of me? Just like you’re offended by my comments, why can’t you accept the idea of me, and other Blacks, being offended by racist comments directed at us. Why should we be expected to always take the passive route and remain silent in the face of such blatant racism. Blacks didn’t throw off the yoke of legalized slavery and segregation by being passive and not addressing those atrosities directly.

For those who think JHorn didn’t contribute anything to the Falcons, consider this. RWhite was considered a bust the 3yrs before JHorn arrived. After being tutored by him, RWhite had a breakout, Probowl type season and has been catching everything thrown his way since. I’ll bet he had a positive impact on rookie LRobinson’s successful rookie season as well. That was part of the reason Horn was brought here by McKay and Blank in the 1st place. Name another Falcon WR with the accomplishments, experience and ability to tutor our very young and inexperienced WR’s?

Before the arrival of JHorn, WR was one of our weakest and least productive position. Now, it’s our strongest and deepest position thanks to his tutoring efforts. So, signing him wasn’t a waste of time or money when you consider the positive impact he’s had other our other WR’s.

PETE-part of the reason McKay and Blank signed JHorn was to provide tutelage for our young, inexperienced WR’s. Prior to Horn’s arrival, our top 2 WR’s(Jenkins and White) were considered 1st rd busts. Overall, WR was one of the teams weakest and least productive positions. The closest we could come to having a vet WR with the experience, knowledge, ability and accomplishments to be a successful tutor for our WR’s was BFinneran. And let’s face it, he’s barely been able to walk the last 2yrs.

JHorn brought his experience, ability, accomplishment and unselfish attitude in here and turned our once weak and unproductive WR core into our strongest, deepest and most productive position. As a successful tutor to our young WR’s, he literally worked himself out of the rotation. So, he wanted the Falcons to release or trade him to another team where he could be more productive before he retired. When the team couldn’t trade him, and refused to release him, he successfully applied pressure on them.

Hia production and playing time wasn’t what he wanted, but through his efforts working with our other WR’s, their increased production certainly made up for it. Before Horn’s arrival, we led the NFL in dropped passes, especially dropped TD passes. After his arrival, that problem was eliminated. RWhite, who dropped the most passes, had a breakout Probowl calibur season. I’ll bet if you asked, LRobinson will tell you his successful rookie season was a result of help provided by Horn.

MIKE-when Horn was 1st signed, he said that tutoring the young WR’s would be one of his primary responsibilities, and that he was looking forward to the challenge. Who else would you credit the sudden turnaround of our WR core? They certainly didn’t get anything from Mora and friends. Petrino only installed actual passing routes for them to run. It was Horn that worked with them before and during training camp and showed them what confidence in themselves can do. We saw the results last yr. I’m not saying JHorn alone was responsible for this, but he certainly was a primary reason.

ROAN ST-I figured you had taken my comments our of context. There is no way I would ever label an entire race, ethnic group etc, based on the actions of a limited few. I am very well read on the history of race in this country. Therefore, I know Blacks didn’t overcome the oppression of slavery and legalized segregation alone. It took the efforts of civilized, enlightened, and compassionate Whites, Jews and others working in unison with Blacks to make it a reality.

I could understand your attitude towards me if I had responsed to comments like those made by a BOTTOM FEEDING ANAL MINDED RACISTS like JOE BRAVE. LAWRENCE FROM SANDY SPRINGS wasn’t that overt. He tried to manipulate and use carefully selected information to denigrate Black people as a whole. He tried to insinuate all Black people are criminals because Blacks constitute the majority of people in certain prison systems.

I merely presented factual information that showed him, and idiots that think like him, what they have to consider about themselves when using faulty, racist thinking of that sort.

You missed my point entirely. Yes, MV7 made the Falcons a whole lot more than they paid him(althought it would take a whole lot of book work to actually prove that). My point is that this guy is no different than Joe Montana, Steve Young, Tom Brady or Peyton Manning in the fact that of course a franchise QB is going to make his team millions more than he’s going to earn himself. That’s the nature of this beast. That’s why players are players and owners are owners. Why is ‘ghetto delight’(MV7) more special than they are??

Vick is an embarrasment to himself, the city of Atlanta, and this franchise. He could probably make the franchise millions more, but he flat out lied to Arthur Blank’s face. ROAN ST-it seems my response to LAWRENCE OF SANDY SPRINGS really brought the ANALS out in force, heh. Of course, not responding wouldn’t have prevented most of them from commenting, but it likely raised the intensity of their racist rants. I hope we’re ok, because I don’t want any of this to spill over onto the Hawks blogs.

Despite all of the racially inspired rhetoric to the contrary, as a whole, most of us have come a long way in race relations. Frank, your opinions of me are irrelevant to me(as i’m sure mine are to you). I’m not trying to set you off, just stating my opinion. Facts are, i’ve got much respect for MV7 in the fact that he was given a God given talent, and he nurtured it and became a big time athlete. However, he also threw it all away by acting like a stereotypical ghetto thug(and yes I know there are guys like him in every race). Guys like him are whats wrong w/ professional sports these days. Growing up as a youth, nobody taught him that he would have to take responsibility for his actions.
