O-line feeling a little frisky

Although second-year player Quinn Ojinnaka will make his first start at left tackle for the Falcons this weekend — it’s the third change at left tackle this season — Atlanta’s offensive linemen feel the team will finally be able to establish the run vs. San Francisco Sunday.

An emphasis has been put on establishing the run to set up the play-action pass, according to some players. Though they would not reveal what they’ve seen in the 49ers defense, there is optimism that the Falcons front can get some push and create seams for Warrick Dunn and Jerious Norwood to exploit.

San Francisco uses a 3-4 front, which the Falcons don’t see much, and they boast a super-stud at middle linebacker, Patrick Willis. Willis is among the NFL’s top tacklers and is a leading candidate to be the defensive rookie of the year.

As for the usage at running backs, Norwood said things have been set up for him to get more touches but he did not say if that meant more carries or receptions.

In other developments, the Falcons signed Tim Anderson to back up Trey Lewis at nose tackle. Anderson likely will take the place of injured backup nose tackle Montavious Stanley (knee).

Anderson was cut two weeks ago by Buffalo, where he spent the past four seasons and started 17 games. There seems to be an attraction to former Bills players as Anderson is the third player the Falcons have signed this season from Buffalo.

Deep snapper Mike Schneck and tackle Terrance Pennington are the others.

Falcons should win this game…I’m not so sure that Petrino wants to though…with the #1 pick in the draft still within reach…Falcons blacked out locally, good thing I am in Alabama and still can see the game!

Well if the O-lieman say they want to establish the run this week, then by all means let’s bet our money on the Falcons. Why didn’t they want to establish the run before now?

The Falcons are so bad, they will even screw up getting the top draft pick.

The humane society and PETA should be buying up these empty seats to show support of Arthur Blank’s loyalty to animals. These companies show up to protest, but then just disappear in the aftermath. Put your money where your mouth is all of you re-born animal activists. All a bunch of talk. The City of Atlanta has a better understanding of what their team really looks like now. You got what you deserved. Jokes on you… .again.

Depressing consideration: lose the rest of the games and only get the #2 or 3 pick or uplifting consideration: lose all the games and the coaches get fired.

If this team was good or at least decent with Vick then they shouldnt be horrible now. Maybe we shouldnt be dumping players, but take a harder look at the coaches…

This is the Falcons pre-Vick. No attendance, no fans, and blackouts. Get use to it. Who wants to waste $100 a game to see these fools play. No amount of draft picks will make this team contenders. What free agent in their right mind would agree to play here? They need defense, offense, special teams, etc. Management is a joke!!! Blank was quoted as saying he thought of Vick as a son. Is this how he treats people he supposedly care about? Yes, Vick was wrong. But this is when Blank should be in his corner the most helping get through this. People need positive people by their side the most when they get into trouble. Blank turned his back on Vick. He used him to make him richer, and he has the nerve to try and recoup money. Vick earned every penny. Karma is a mother Mr. Blank. Vick didn’t set this franchise back, he left it the way he found it.

It would be an incredible miracle to have Ojinnaka step up and take the starting LT spot. There was great hope that he would be Shaffer’s successor. Why couldn’t he finally step up and become the player that McKay thought he could be?

Imagine going into this next draft with LT locked and loaded. If that was the only good thing to come out of the rest of this season, it would be enough to build on.

A Pocket passer took us to a Super Bowl which was won by a Better pocket passer than the one we had. Running QB’s are for the BCS not the NFL.

Welcome back to reality. Where are all the anti-Vick fans. I wish AJC will open up some of its archives blogs. (the blogs before the dog case came about). Everybody wanted to run him out. Put Schaub in. Guess what? We are what we thought we were. Blacked out!!! The fans might get to see the falcons play 3 times on TV next year. Forget MNF. Might not see the falcons on MNF nor Sunday Night Football for another 10 yrs. Vick should have been paid more for being a 1 man team. He carried the team and made money for Arthur Blank.

Kudos to AJC. Guess what? You might be lucky to get 20 blogs on ur website from now on. Where is the poll where 70% of up to 100,000 respondents wanted Vick run out of town. The blogs said we needed higher QB rating, we needed a QB that can pass.

For the record, I don’t condone what Vick did but he was persecuted in ATL even before he got indicted on the dog case. He got blamed for every loss even through his OL sucked and his WR’s couldn’t catch a ball. Everybody wanted him out of town. We got our wishes.
