Mental, physical mistakes costly

The Falcons start the season 0-3 after Sunday’s home loss to Carolina. This is shaping up to be a tough season. The Falcons had chances to win this game, but the mistakes — mental and physical — piled up.

For instance:

DeAngelo Hall had 67 penalty yards on one drive that set up Carolinas game-tying touchdown. He then got into it on the sideline with head coach Bobby Petrino and an assistant coach.

Morten Andersen was cheered loudly when he trotted out for his first field goal attempt. The snap was mishandled by holder Michael Koenen and the Falcons came away with no points on the drive.

I’m angry, but I’m going to try and keep it positive, everybody else, please TRY and do the same. First off, Harrington had a great game. He deserved better. Roddy White is beginning to look like a first round draft pick. The offense had it’s best game of the season. That said, Atlanta lost that game because Steve Smith got to De Angelo Hall and because for the second half, Carolina’s offensive line did to Atlanta what they did last year when they beat Atlanta on one play, over and over again… Yea, it’s sad, and it’s going to be a long season, but there are some positives that the birds can take away from this game…

i’m sure many of the d.hall sucks comments are coming and how he blew this game…but let me remind the blind that steve smith had ONE catch for TEN yards, add on the pass inter. call and thats a GREAT GAME against arguably the best reciever in the league. pass inter play was a good play cuz he was beat, hit time gettin beat. the 2nd call was iffy at best, a simple chuck while the play was going….and the 3rd was a terrible call. sure he could have said nothing, but no one gets penalties for talking trash to another player…NO ONE! and mr steve smith most definitely didnt. not saying anything was fixed, but i can tell u what….those calls were weak and the falcons didnt get at least 3 big ones. late hits and holding in the 4th

D. Hall,

Run-DMC had a song that said you talk too much and you never shut-up! Damn man shut-up on the field and just play football. Is Steve Smith your pimp? Cause you have been his B*#$@h for a while. What is it with you. You’ve got to be smarter that what you have been on the field. If you are a Shut-Down corner, start with shutting your mouth and play football.

D’Angelo, D’Angelo…….you really didn’t show up today. You cost your team very much today with your antics and overblown ego. Not surprised at all. You played right into Smith’s head games today. Hope Chad Johnson doesn’t come back to town and do the same thing to you. By the way, good game Morten Anderson, Joey Harrington, offensive line, and receiver corps. Just play with a little more urgency in the fourth quarter and you all will be fine.

Is it possible that DHall has become just as infamous in this town as his predecessor “Big” play Ray? Hey dude, you are a cornerback, its your job to stop receivers, not gift them first downs and MORE. Bench this arrogant a hole before he does any more damage!! Go Birds, you looked good today, except for one INDIVIDUAL.

Hall single handedly cost the Falcon’s the game today. He played horrible physically and even worse mentally. He should be in a serious dog house come Monday. I still don’t know why Petrino didn’t take his sorry but out of the game after the first 15 yarder.

67 yards of penalties on one guy in one drive!! That may be an NFL record for non-PI calls. What a joke!!!

The Falcon’s finally play good enough to win a game and NO. 21 ruins it for everyone. I hope he gets traded or cut before he does more damage to this team.

By the way D-Hall, Steve Smith still has your lunch…and probably your dinner too. He ate both of them this afternoon.

There is something missing from this team, there is no excitement, even when we’re winning, this team is going backwards. The game on Sunday showed that we can’t stop the run in our own stadium, and D Hall, you have not won anything, you can’t talk S@@t when you don’t have a ring, or even a conference championship, grow up you’re not in college anymore.Petrino you entered a firestorm, Louisville looks good from here I bet, I don’t think this team will beat anyone.

I hope D. Hall is happy that he single handedly lost that game for us today. What a jerk! Just shut-up and play the game. I don’t care how much smack you can talk. Petrino can send a message to the team and to the fans that he will not put up with the selfish and undisciplined antics, regardless of who it is. Hall should be benched and/or fined. That kind of juvenile behavior does not belong on any professional team.

The Falcons made a few mistakes, no doubt. But the thing that really cost them the game was the lousy officiating. The call that got Hall so riled was ridiculous, and both roughing the quarterback calls against the Falcons were borderline at best. On the other hand, Harrington got nailed twice in the 4th quarter and there was no call at all.

Rarely have I seen officiating this bad in an NFL game.

So the AJCs take is that Hall cost the Falcons the game?

The zebras gave the game to Carolina.

Hall’s first penalty saved a touchdown. His second penalty was pure BS.

His 3rd penalty was BS.

How about when the Falcons were flagged for roughing the Carolina QB on an incidental contact.

On the last Falcons drive, Harrington gets leveled with a late hit and no flag.

The Falcons got hosed in this game and it wasn’t Hall’s fault. He held Steve Smith to 1 catch for 10 yards.

ok, lets analyze this from the perspective of football and not anti vick, and whatever other “thug” people keep trying to blame for the falcons miseries. the reason the falcons have sucked ever since they got rid of dan reaves is they ARE NOT PHYSICAL. they lost today because carolina ran the ball at WILL against the falcons. right up the MIDDLE, which is exactly where i say the falcons are the softest. they have no nose tackle, no middle linebacker and no safeties, the exact thing a running attack needs to be successful against. people wanna blame hall today for the lost, but, like the announcer said, who played football by the way, you want your defenders to be agressive. the moment a defender lets a offensive player get away with running his mouth or being physical, they are done as a defender. 90 percent of people who come on these forums have never played any football. look at how carolina just ran the ball up the middle, dragging defenders and laughing and hollering at the falcons. in been that way thru out most of blank’s ownership with the falcons . it starts with MCKAY.get a clue, mckay needs to GO.

We’ll they got 13 million tied up in two QB’s another few thousand in another one who got cut from an arena team. About eight million in a fullback no one ever heard of then 25 - 30 million in a confessed dog killer. Two kickers one that can’t kick off and the other can’t make field goals ….. I would say they pretty much are on course. If they were smart they would have a team meeting and figure out where they want to wind up in the draft and play for that spot. Byron isn’t the answer, Joey played pretty good actully. But at this point it is a rebound process or rebuilding from loosing the dog killer. The Falcons are back to the old days and we might as well get use to it, because the “Good Ole days are here again! … 4-12 maybe

The Falcons get flagged for roughing the passer on incidental contact with the Panthers QB. Harrington gets level with a flagrant late hit on the Falcons last drive and there is no flag.

On Carolina’s first touchdown there a blatant hold that wasn’t called.

More biased BS from Steve Wyche.

Obviously, the calls were a load of BS just like your latest column.

Hall’s antics drew resounding boos from the disgusted crowd, who really unloaded on Hall after Smith caught a short hitch pass on the left side then slipped out of a tackle by Hall to gain a first down.

That’s also a load of BS. The crowd got loud from the bad calls and got loudest once they realized it was Smith who caught the ball.

I guess the AJC’s new task is to run another out of town.

**Hall single-handedly beat us today. I have never seen the momentum of a game change as quickly after that penalty he got after we had sacked Delhomme. They were a different team after that and so were we.

You can say he was called for some things unjustly, but the bottom line is if you just keep your mouth shut and play the game you don’t get the penalty. It’s as simple as that.

If Hall doesn’t get that penalty we win the game. Hall cost us that game.**

I know a lot of people are going to say the DeAngelo Hall cost the Falcons the game. Although what he did was unprofessional and did not help the team. However, if Koenen had not mishandled the ball and Joe Horn caught a ball I have seen him catch many times when he was with New Orleans, the game would have been tied. Plus, on Carolina’s final scoring drive the Falcons did not make tackles they should have made. And, on the final drive for the Falcons, why didn’t the coaches call for a hurry up offense. The loss was a team effort.

By Mack73

Defense still can’t stop the run. And have the Falcons forgot how to do it? The WR are’nt that good. They don’t have a chance without the run. They’re at the bottom of the league in rushing. Guess some of that running did help this offense. Definitely won’t be #1 in rushing this year.

Screw you D.Hall; I’d rather lose games without your sorry no good inflated ego piece of crap butt for a player…

We can’t win with your no leadership non tackling skills, you must have been schooled from the other 21 that use to play for the Falcons. You are not a leader…leaders don’t lead like that…

Steve Smith accomplished what he tried to do whether he scored a TD or not…you’re real weakness’ showed today. And it is not the first time…You can go somewhere else and play…

I did not see you make one single tackle or even help out on a tackle. You are so OVERRATED “keep it real dude”

Yeah, come off the field and continue your bit**ing tirade with the coaches and your head coach…

you are a dam* looser…plain and simple, yeah, you are a game changer alright. The Falcons tanked after your childish temper tandrum…Number 90 should have slapped you in the face…baby…

How embarrass! I tried to make a nice family outing out of this Falcon game. The special teams for the Falcons were terrible for the 3rd straight week. Blocking in the back penalties negated long returns. A fumbled snap on a field goal hurt us. A misplayed punt that should have been down inside the three gave the Panthers the ball on the 20. The first Falcon touchdown by Roddy White was classless. His “twirl move” on the goal line cost Reggie Bush $15,000 in fines by the NFL in the championship game against Chicago last year. The Falcons were lucky not to get a penalty on Roddy’s classess celebration, but I hope the NFL fines Roddy White. Roddy show some class and act like you have been in the end zone before. DeAngelo Hall is joke! He is the most talented athlete on the field, but he is a liability and not an asset. I have been watching professional football for 36 years. I have never seen a player chase down an opposing player on the opposing sideline like DeAngelo Hall did today. It is hard to blame a loss on just one player, but DeAngelo Hall’s classless action hurt the Falcons. The Falcons should have killed the Panthers today. There were several fights in the stands. Thank God they were not in my section. One of the most embarrassing moments that you did not see on television today was when one of the vendors gave a fan a prize in the fourth quarter. I have been a season ticket holder for many years and I am use to these promotions during timeouts and commercial breaks. A vendor puts some fan on the microphone and gives them a $50 gift certificate or some sort of prize. They gave some yahoo a prize and instead of saying “Go Falcons” or “thanks for the prize”, this jerk screams “Put in Leftwich!” He was wearing a #4 jersey with Leftwich’s name on the back. The problem was that Harrington was probably having his best game ever and Leftwich was not even active for this game. What an idiot this guy was, but what a stupid move by the vendor. I was embarrassed by the team, the fans and the vendors. I expect the players to act like professionals. I expect the fans not to fight and I expect the stupid vendors to screen the yahoos that they put on the microphone. I know Arthur Blank may not have control of what happens on the field, but his staff should be able to control what happens with vendor promotions and what happens in the stands. I will give the Falcon organization credit. They have tried to change the “thug” atmosphere of past Falcon games. There is very little if any rap music played during the game. However, rap music does not cause fights! If they have to suspend beer sales in the 2nd quarter instead of the 4th quarter, so be it. Hey, it is great when a team wins and it is not so great when they lose. However, I do not want to take my family to see a bunch of fighting and clueless yahoos in the stands at a football game.

Jim Mora couldn’t control the temper tantrums from Hall last year. Now Hall is at it again. Coach Pertino needs to get a handle on this quickly. He doesn’t seem like the man who will tolerate this. At least I hope not.

I know it is probably frustrating to look at 0-3, staring you in the face. But there is absolutely no reason for DeAngelo Hall acting like a fool on the sideline. I can’t wait for the apologists to say, “Oh, he’s just a kid. He’s just so competitive.” Bull!! If he wants to be given the respect of a grown man, he needs to act like one. When you act like a kid, you need to get spanked. Let’s hope Papa Bobby spanks little DeAngelo and sets his tail on the bench. Otherwise, he is no better than little Jimmy Mora who tried being friends with these kids and got fired because of it.

DHall was a bonehead today. He he far from being the face of the franchise as he would like to be. He was a irresponsible hothead who cost his team dearly. I hope that he takes responsibility for this, apologize to his team and family, get over it, and bring his A game next week.

Please throw the ball downfield. Also, have the receivers run for the necessary yardage on 3rd and short situations. The coaches’ play-calling lost this one today; example, the first Falcon drive of the second half started with two runs of 21 yards and then three passes which filed to produce a first down. Go figure.

Last week it was the place kicker who lost us the game. This week it was a combination of D Hall and the officials . What’s it gonna be next week against the Texans? Come on Falcons get it together. It’s tough to bounce back from an 0-3 start. We waited so long for this season to get underway and it’s almost shot after week 3.

D’Angelo, D’angelo, D’Angelo……….looks like oyur ego got in the way of your game today. You played right into Smith’s head games and you lost big time. Not surprised, based on your previous gametime performances. Just hope that you won’t have to go up against him, T.O., or Chad Johnson again this season. By the way, good job Morten Andersen, Joey Harrington, offensive line, and receiver corps. Just try to play with a little more urgency in the fourth quarter and you all will be fine. Hall let his teammates down once again. Today’s loss was yet another demonstration of how an undisciplined, selfish, self-centered player can negatively impact the outcome and flow of a game. Petrino and his staff must control players like Hall and condemn them for their actions or we will continue to see a player like Hall ruin the season.

What we saw from Hall today, does not happen in places like Indianapolis and New England where everyone knows how their actions can impact a game. Absolutely pitiful.

For those of you who can’t get it through your head that Vick screwed the team (and himself) with his criminal behavior —- that he did it to himself and the team and is not coming back —- you need to zip it up until we’ve lost 6 more. DO YOU REMEMBER LAST YEAR —- 7 AND 9 WITH VICK UNDER CENTER AND NO WINS IN 20 SOMETHING GAMES WHEN GOING INTO THE FOURTH QUARTER BEHIND. At least, Harington made some progress/improvement which is more than can be said about Vick in his 6 years in the league. HE WENT DOWNHILL EVERY YEAR!

By P.J.

September 23, 2007 9:37 PM | Link to this

Did anyone notice that no teammate was making a concerted effort to ease Hall’s angst? That only means one thing: nobody really likes him. Teammates, ones who are professional and dedicated to winning, always rally around one another. Yes, there were some teammates attempting to calm Hall down, but their efforts were clearly not earnest.

Otherwise, I’m starting to see many elements of this team starting to gel. The offense and defense have made improvements each week, unfortunately, there are not enough horses to make this team competitive with the NFL’s elite. Keith Brooking is over the hill, there is still little depth on the DLine, and even when Rod Coleman comes back, they’re still a fragile unit.

I know alot of people are hoping the Falcons tank it so we can land Dorsey or Woodson or Brohm, but I think this team will come around and win 6 games, meaning they won’t be in a position to draft any of them except Woodson, but if Harrington continues showing improvement or tanks it and Leftwich comes in and shines, there’s no reason to draft a QB.

I’ll admit I didn’t see a single snap of this game. I am as big a Vick fan as anyone, and I would love to see him back on the Falcons. Yes, with Vick this team has a better chance to win week in and week out, and there’s a good chance if he was here this week he would have made enough plays for this team to win. But looking at the stat sheet, it’s obviously not Harrington’s fault that this team lost. Why is Norwood only touching the ball nine times? Why is D-Hall committing 67 yards worth of penalties? Why is our red zone offense, especially at the end of halves, continuing to suck? When a guy throws for over 300 yards and 2 TDs, he deserves credit for keeping the team in the game, not blame for not winning it. Let’s be real.

Harrington’s great game is not a sign of better performances ahead — he’s had isolated games like this in the past which he followed up with further mediocre performances. But games like this only show that the Falcons have problems up and down the roster, which go far beyond the QB position. That hasn’t changed in the last six years.

The personal fouls were kinda stupid on DFall but the pass interference was pure Eisnstein. He saved a touchdown dummies. Hall gave up a few yards but Highway 56 (your hero Keith Brooking) should wear a ‘G’ on his shirt instead of a C for Gateway to the endzone.

You people got what you wanted, a 300 yard passing high QB rating player instead of a guy that could carry these LOSERS. They are who we thought they were without Vick. LIVE WITH IT! Joey looked like Jeff George today, short passes with decent YAC, alot of stats, and the customary FALCONS “L”! Hahaha!

P.S. Hey Don, Keith ‘Highway to the End Zone 56’ Brooking and Warrick ‘We can do it w/o our former teammate’ Dunn are the ones LEADING this team to 0-16.

NFL refs are not supposed to make that call, if anything D. Hall’s “rep” got him flagged. Its ashame cause he was having a good game, but now the crazy critics get to come out and suggest we start C. Chris - I can tell you what is missing from this team: It is a “Winner’s mentality”. This team does not know how to win. First, they do not know how to keep pressure on the opposing team and when scored upon or momentum changes, they do not know how to RESPOND = a Key component of winners. This team has had a losing mentality for the past 3 years under Mora and will have to change THAT before they can truly be successful. Otherwise, given the lack of playmakers that this team has, it will be hard for them to win anything without struggling. I have mentioned this before and, so, I will say it again: I think that this is a testament to what Mike Vick meant to this team (his importance). The O-line protected much better today and Joey had time to throw the ball today and, thus, he played WELL. However, the Falcons STILL lost this game (although they made it close with the field goal at the end) and it was due to mistakes, run defense and the inability or DESIRE to be able to come up with a play (i.e. Joe Horn’s inability to catch that pass in the endzone and the fact that the defense could not stop the Panthers from getting a first down a the end of the game). I want people to know that I do NOT endorse M. Vick’s STUPID actions, but there were an overwhelming number of people who thought that Mike should not even have had the opportunity to contnue to play QB due to him “not being a REAL QB”. I think what is apparent after today’s loss is that the failures of this team are not ALL related (some were, but not all) to Mike Vick’s play. This team loses games depsite having such a sensational athelete at QB - and the o-line NEVER protected Mike Vick that well for a whole game (like they protected Joey today). I am happy that Joey showed well - I never thought he was a bad QB, it was just that he played for teams that had o-lines that were very bad. This shows that he CAN perform well, but also shows evryone what other failings this team REALLY has. For all intensive purposes, those fans that think that having a QB that plays well on any given day is enough, were shown today that it TRULY is a team game and coaching makes ALL the difference. Petrino is a good coach and I think that this team IS getting better, but to every fan out there that thought that the QB was what was wrong - hopefully you understand things a bit better now as they relate to these Falcons. I am gonna say it today: I THINK THE FALCONS WILL BEAT THE TEXANS NEXT WEEK IN THE GA DOME TO GET THEIR FIRST VICTORY OF THE YEAR!!! I have my reasons for believing this, but mark my words - it is very possible that this goes on next week. Watch!

By NOT A FALCONS FAN

September 23, 2007 10:03 PM | Link to this

First: I am not a Falcons fan.

With that being said, my comments are non-partisan, and they are made as a fan of the NFL.

The Falcons offense wasn’t all that bad today - the main problem I see is that their wide receivers have to be among the worst in the NFL. Joe Horn USED to be good, but he hasn’t aged well. The only old WR that are good old are ones that were GREAT when they were young, and they know how to play the position, and not rely on natural athleticism. Such as Jerry Rice, who was never that fast to begin with, but was the greatest ever. Anyway, with those WRs, I can’t imagine the Falcons winning a SINGLE game.

Harrington is playing fine, the line is fine, I think the problems of the first two games stem from the lack of ability to get open by the receivers. Norwood is by far the Falcon’s most dangerous threat, especially out of the backfield. There’s certainly a role for Dunn to play, he just shouldn’t be getting anywhere near the touches as Norwood.

The defense looked decent until the referee crew went bizzaro in the 3rd quarter, especially against DeAngelo Hall. Those calls broke the fragile spirit of the Falcons defense. The real shame is, however, not how bad the officiating was, but how fragile the spirit of the Falcon’s defense was. To win football games in the NFL, your defense needs to be made of guys that are tough as nails. After that call, DeAngelo Hall should have hit Steve Smith even harder, and dared the referees to throw another flag, and if they did, to keep hitting him until they got the call right. Instead, the defense folded like a cheap lawn chair.

As for coaching, I think Petrino will suffer the same fate as any other career college coach that tried to make the move to the NFL: utter failure. Not because he’s a bad football coach, but because he’s a great football coach in college, which means he’s an horrible coach in the NFL. I LOVE college football, but I realize it’s a different game than what these grown men play in the NFL. The differences between college football and the NFL are as great as the differences between men’s fast-pitch softball and the MLB.

Verdict: The Falcons franchise continues to be a blight on The Shield, and the NFL needs to keep working with Arthur Blank on improving his product, but overall, an improvement, not that it could have gotten any worse (unless, of course, they start playing Byron “two left feet” Leftwich at quarterback - that acquisition is just more proof of how poor management decisions are for the Atlanta Falcons).

Before today`s game, I posted that the Falcons were a pathetic disorganized team. We do not have a Professional team, the Falcons are an embarrasment to Atlanta, to Georgia, and to the NFL. This team pays millions of dollars to a selfish, self-centered, loudmouth CB, De-Angelo Hall. He did indeed cost us this game and he should be ashamed of himself. No self control, no respect for the game, no respect for his teammates, nor his city, nor the team owner, nor for the fans—-who all deserve better. He has demonstrated that he has no Class, no integrity,no character, and certainly is no gentleman. In fact, he demonstrated what he is —- a LOSER. If this organization has any self-respect, he will be FIRED. IT is up to you Coach Petrino, be a real leader and motivator, and fire this CANCER.

This message is for everyone on these BLOGS, as one person brought this up earlier: Arthur Blank (as a NON-Football Man) is largely to blame for this franchise’s lack of success over the past 3 years (including this one). He has had his nose in too much of the business of the draft and, I think, has hindered Rich McKay in a lot of way (not ALL ways, but a lot of ways) and, more importantly, I believe that his stance of having only “Character Guys” has made this team a SOFT ONE. This is a brutal game and although you CERTAINLY do not want a bunch of lawbreaking, troublemakers, you certainly need some players with a bit of swagger that play with SOME ANGER on both offense and defense. It is not natural to have a franchise full of “nice guys” on a team and expect that they consistently win b/c they will never develop a particular identity on either side of the ball - which has been the case with the Falcons over the past few years. You can SAY that they were a rushing team (on offense), but if you are a rushing team then you certainly go to the rush when you are in the red zone and when you get inside the 10 yard line should be lookin to utilize the run as your primary means of getting into the end zone. If you recall and look at the last 3 years’ games this team got in the red zone and settled for field goals, if anything at all, due to an inability to RUN THE BALL (and inabiity to throw it). Defensively - this team has not even has an identity defensively over the past three years aside from just being flat out SOFT AGAINST THE RUN. I think Petrino will change these things (at least he has made his intentions public in speaking to what he wants this offense = throwing down field and power running attack and defense = Zimmer likes to pressure the QB and be). But these players iwll have to LEARN from scratch what it is like to play with “an Identity/Philosophy”. Successful franchses do this = Stellers, Colts, New England…even Seattle. Blank hired Petrino and that was a good move and I think that he (Blank) is starting to realize that he cannot run a football franchise like you would run a regular business. There are nuances inherent to this “business” that are not the same as in the Real World. Blank, let your GM run the club, let your coaches coach and evaluate the players and you stick to writing the checks and being part of the Good will and P.R. for this team - ad you will find that somehow things will start to turn around a bit. Keep your non-football nose out of football business!!!!

Steve, are you kidding? Those were some of worst calls I’ve seen in pro football. That umpire had an agenda. Petrino was furious on the sidelines, and it wasn’t at Hall. You could read his lips the entire time, indeed much of it was actually audible in the telcast. At one point he screamed practically in a sideline judge’s ear “Are you gonna let him get away with that?” But this aspect of the game doesn’t warrant mention, nor does the coaches seeming support for Hall? Is criticizing the officiating off limits at the paper?

Now scoop would be knowing what Hall could have said to Steve Smith to earn a 15-yard penalty for abusing an official. Or when the league decided to start handing out penalties for jamming receivers at the line.

Hall needs to control himself, but your portrayal feels somewhat false. We lost because we couldn’t stop the run.

The Falcons finally looked like a contender. They already have enough problems. D’Hall is another one they need to address. Something is wrong with this kid. They best corners in the game get beat sometime. He thinks he has to brag about his position all the time. It’s not going to stop after today either. He’s a good corner back, but far from a great one. He seems to think words speak louder than action. And doesn’t have a clue how wrong he is. It’s so sad how someone with so much talent can be that stupid. Which one do you think shows the most? The talent, or the stupidity. I can think of a lot of great corner backs in this league. But his big mouth is the only one you’ll hear. If you didn’t know any better you would think he is the only corner back in the league. DeAngelo, please go and help some other team. We’ve already had one guy make us the laughing stock of the NFL. I can’t believe we got two.

PLEASE get rid of that stupid, no playing D. Hall. He couldn’t cover my G’Ma if she was playing wide receiver for the opposing team. He makes me sick trying to be a D. Sanders. PLEASE no more drafts of Virginia Tech Thugs.

Dear Dogsrevenge:

Sadly, you are probably right (about no one “reading all that crap” - that I wrote). Granted what I wrote is longer than the average BLOG, it shouldn’t be considered “a lot of reading”. If you are correct that tells me a lot about the level of intelligence of the people on this BLOG. Tell me, do you agree or disagree with my statements? Or…did YOU read it (all)?

The falcons don’t know how to put a team away.Petrino play calling and D Hall probably cost them the game.I’m no coach, but to win in NFL you got to stay aggressive in the play calling and have some discipline on the field.Falcons are 0-3.I know many of the white falcons fans dislike or hated MV7,but some of you knew if MV7 was at quarterback the falcons want be 0-3.The falcons was an exciting team to watch on Sunday when Vick was at center. You wanted a pocket passer and now you got one.An 0-3 pocket passer. So Be Happy!!!

The Falcons SUCK! HOW MANY FANS showed up? No Vick = no Victories and NO FANS. O-16. Are you happy to have Joey (the CRAP)Harrington? You wanted VICK gone and now you have a true LOSER! The offense was designed for MIKE! BACK to LOSERSVILLE! The Falcans looked pathetic! Blame it all on MIKE! OPPS! HE DID NOT PLAY! Next year they can schedule a local high school to get a win. HA! HA! HA!

DeAngelo Hall is such a stupid, selfish, unintelligent, NON-team player and such a jerk of a person who hurts his Falcons teammates through his actions, you’d think he was the same race as Michael Vick.

Long Live FALCONS FANS, not the THUG FANS !!!

Warrick Dunn for Governor!

Now is the time for the Falcons to trade one of their receivers - Jenkins or White to the Chargers for a first round pick.

points to ponder……

What if D. Hall says (sincerely):

Hey guys, I screwed up. S.Smith got into my head today. We play them twice a year, we are good friends (or were until today) and he played me- he took me out of my game and I have LEARNED from it.

Hey “Bandwagon jumper off-ers”, I have been a season ticket holder for 22 years. I put my money where my mouth is. I have to admit that this is not our year.

If D. Hall LEARNED something today, in what I term a meaningless season, then the Falcons as a whole gain something. This man has some talent. Let him learn, let him play. If he REALLY learned to “

This is not our year. I had my tickets increase over $100 for the season ($10 a game, man doesn’t THAT sit well during preseason scrimmages). I have to admit, I am looking at next year. I did not hop on any bandwagon, I AM A FRIGGIN SPOKE ON THE WHEEL OF THE WAGON. There are people here online complaining and those same people have NEVER once in their lives supported this team financially. Put YOUR money where YOUR mouth is

D. Hall MIGHT have cost us the game today, but in the greater scheme of things I have to ask, WHERE were we going anyway?

i see this as a rebuilding season. It is a hard thing to admit, I have WASTED my $$$$$$$ (again).

Does this team and D.HALL learn from here?

I think they do.

Nice game Joey/ Nice game Roddy. Nice game Jenkins. Nice game Norwood and Dunn. Welcome back Morten, too bad you can’t kickoff past the 15 anymore.

We are BUILDING people.

Did We LEARN fom this game, or not?

In the greater scheme of things, did thhis game MATTER? Did we gain some positives from this game, or NOT?

Maybe if Falcons had more thugs on the team we could beat some d*mn body. I have been to almost every football stadium in the league, and they all play rap music. Why is “thug” becoming such a popular word all of a sudden? Stop making excuses people. This team is bad. They never gave Vick the supporting cast he needed to get more wins. The problem is wasteful draft picks, and washed up free agents. They look horrible without Vick to disguise how bad they were. I don’t care about the color of players, I just want them to be winners. This race, thug, rap music thing is so stupid. None of that should matter. This team is awful. That’s why they are the laughing stock of the NFL. Maybe we as fans should focus on the things needed to make this team better(an overhaul). And stop complaining about things that are’nt important(type of music played in The Dome). The is no I in team, But in the Falcons case you can add MV to it. He was the only player on that team that did whatever to win. Joey played good today, but still 0-3. Bad team

Just what you deserve for carrying a convicted felon on your roster. Anyone who would support such a team is a degenerate.

I want to apologize for all the things I allowed to happen. I want to apologize to the fans, Bobby Petrino, Mr. Blank, for letting you all down. Personal fouls are a terrible thing, and I didn’t reject it. I take full responsibility for my actions. Not for one second will I sit here and try to point the finger and try to blame somebody else for my actions or what I have done. I’m upset with myself, and you know, through this situation I found Jesus and asked him for forgiveness and turned my duties as cornerback over to God. I hope that every young kid out there in the world watching me right now who’s been following the game will use me as an example to playing better coverage and making better decisions.

Joey Harrington - Numbers are great but he is not a proven winner. I’m sure in about 2 - 3 weeks, Joey Harrington will be replaced by Byron Leftwich.

D Hall - He is a top 5 cornerback but I think it’s time to let him go for multiple draft picks.

Losing streak - I’m not surprised by what’s going on. Hopefully, they can continue to lose and get a top 3 pick - McFadden, Brohm or Jake Long.

Rookie Mistake by Patrino - D. Hall was shouting at Coach Patrino and an assistant coach. The announcers said that the coach handled it well. However, if I was the head coach, I would have benched D. Hall for at least 2 defensive series. You just don’t let a player do that.

**CYNO SURE**, Get over it. Every team in the NFL has a felon on their roster. And I'm sure you have some in your family. Did you disown them? If you did you are the **degenerate**.

Boots you are correct sir. I mean look how Harrington has a better winning percentage than Vick, that really is improvement. Oh my bad he has lost more games than Vick. Well at least he has a better touchdown to inteception ratio than Vick. Oh damn he doesn’t. Well at least he is well spoken.. GET THIS CRAP OUT OF HERE. Harrington in one less year than Vick has done absolutely nothing in the NFL but lose. Keith Brooking is done. I hope it is his last year. This guy cant cover, can’t make a big hit, can’t make a big play, and constantly misses tackles.

Everybody wants to blame this loss on D. Hall, but from where i sat (and the announcers saw it the same way)the conservative play calling after we got the lead is what caused us this game. For what ever reason, the Falcons always try to run out the clock as soon as they get a lead no matter how much time is left on the clock. We have been on the receiving end of some of the most humiliating defeats ever in the NFL yet for some reason they never seem to want to blow out their opponent. That’s not to say that they can or that they were going to blow out the Panthers but they clearly were having their way when the coach put the brakes on and began to try and run out the clock.

If you all want to blame anyone for this loss along with the coach…. Ioffer you one Lawyer Malloy. This guy has clearly used up his best years in the NFL. I can recall atleast four time when he was completely run over and three other times that tackles nfl defenders would easily make slipped right thtu his hands. And let’s not forget his hitching a ride on the back of the Carolina running back into the end zone. He looked horrible.

Again, the conservative play calling caused us this game, not D. Hall.
