Apology won’t satisfy all fans

Falcons quarterback Michael Vick apologized repeatedly today for flipping the double-barreled Dirty Bird to Georgia Dome fans following Atlanta’s 31-13 loss to New Orleans.

Vick, who almost certainly will be fined by the NFL, seemed genuinely sincere in his apology and said it would never happen again. He said his actions were prompted by a fan was heckling his team — not just him — and he let his emotions get the best of him.

As contrite as Vick was, some fans won’t forgive him. Vick didn’t go Ryan Leaf on rival taunters in Carolina or Green Bay. He made his gesture to fans who buy tickets — tickets prices were raised last spring — to support a team that is reeling in a big way.

The good thing for Vick and the Falcons is that their next two games are on the road, at Washington and Tampa Bay.

Should Atlanta win and Vick play well, a lot of the acrimony and hard feelings will subside. However, losses and poor play by the quarterback will compound the issue and No. 7 won’t be feeling the same type of love he’s received in this town when he comes running out of that tunnel Dec. 16 against the Dallas Cowboys.

What an excellent opportunity to see what Schuab has in his holster. Bench Vick for a game, and see if Schaub can cause White and Jenkins to catch anything.

Fine, whatever. I’m sure he’s feeling pressure. He should still be held out from starting. Receivers should go.

Why haven’t we heard about coaching staff firings yet? It’s 3:30 in the afternoon.

OK we’ve heard Vick’s apology.

When will Deangelo Hall apologize for giving up the touchdown at the half or for getting burned for 75 yards on the 3rd play of the game and then tacking an extra 15 on with a personal foul?

When will Roddy White apologize for dropping passes all season?

When will Greg Knapp apologize for running the same tired plays over and over?

When will Jim Mora apologize for putting out an undisciplined team week in and week out? Why is Deangelo Hall allowed to constantly cost his team yardage in penalties? Why do we even have a head coach? The players are not fearful of him.

When does Rich McKay apologize for drafting wide receivers who can’t catch the ball?

When do the the Atlanta Falcons fans apologize for being the worst fair weather fans in football?

When does Arthur Blank apologize and lower prices?

When do we start rooting for losses so that we can get a draft pick and some new coaches?

I think the time for all of these questions is NOW!

I agree with Greg. Suspend Vick for a game for flipping the fans off, and watch Schaub play behind this excuse we call an offensive line. Since Roddy White is a back up receiver, maybe he can catch a pass from the back up QB.

i’ve been a huge mike vick supporter since the falcons made him the first overall pick.. and while i realize this current slide is not entirely his fault(horrific receivers, a d that goes home by the 3rd quarter, an inept offensive line, a moron for an offensive coordinator)… it’s time for a change.

there’s just no excuse for vick’s actions yesterday after the game. however frustrated he might have been.. it doesn’t give him the right to flick off HIS fans.

sit vick for one week.

Screw Vick. Suspend him for the year. Suspend him next year. After that, release him. He sucks. He is an unperforming rapster-gangster, not a football player. The only thing Vick can lead is a gang. The sooner the Falcons can get rid of him, the quicker they can legitimately make a claim towards being a solid team.

The end of the Mora, Knapp and Vick era is coming soon. All three I doubt… but together this combo has had it’s run.

And what’s up the kiss to the helmet Mora gave Vick. Is he not coddled enough?

I could say a lot more but no one here really cares… Everyone has probably already made up their own minds about this team and orgainization.

The idea that Michael Vick flicked off “his fans” or fans who paid to support the team is a joke. Vick was flicking off all the bandwagon Atlanta fans who love to put all the blame on his shoulders and wanted to put this loss on him even though he was the only glimmer of hope the Falcons had in this game. I don’t buy people who say they have supported Vick all along but now think he is a “thug” and that his actions were “inexcusable.” I don’t agree that its unreasonable to keep defending Vick now or that doing so makes one a “Vick apologist,” the man’s coaching staff, receiving corps, and o-line are derailing what should be a great career. You can add “Atlanta” “fans” to that list.

You know all you have to do is look at who the coaches named as captains to see they don’t get it Vick (well you kind of have to have the QB leader or not) D Hall please cornerbacks have to be selfish almost by definition but he takes the cake stupid penalty after getting burned trying to pad his stats instead of knocking down the hail mary and I dont know if it is visable on tv but as the outside rusher on the def PA tries he was walking to the sideline as the ball was kicked 3 times! Oh yeah Rossom was the other captain. With leaders like that, you get efforts like we saw, selfish and finger pointing

I also wonder how anyone can think that its “playing the race card” or some unreasonably far leftist position to characterize a significant portion of the criticism of Vick as racist. Note how many people now call him “thug” or “rapster-gangster.” I’m white and its just obvious - this city should be embarassed. I don’t dispute that Vick’s play has been erratic, but I agree with the man - put him in a different situation and the sky’s the limit. Instead we have our present rock bottom. But let the hypocrites come out and act like they’ve never flipped the bird to someone who was being an a-hole. Let them call the quarterback of our (are you really from Atlanta?) a dumb thug gangsta rappa who should play wide receiver or running back. All you end up with is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Keep in mind, Blank is running a business. He would rather go 8-8 and be more profitable than go 11-5 and be less profitable. It’s tough to win a championship when profitability is part of the equation. If you want to walk into a box and support that on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, that’s fine. But don’t be surprised when you’re flipped off.

John from Dunwoody,

Which gang is Vick leading? Which rap album are you referring to? What makes Vick a gangster? Is it flipping the bird? Well if so, then I know that I’m a gangster, and so is my little sister. Is it getting arrested? I know that Vick has never been arrested but Matt Schaub has. Please explain. Perhaps you have some inside information? Surely that’s not an ignorant stereotypical comment? We’re really confused. Thanks.

Remember when Vick gave up that touchdown to New Orleans at the dn of the half?

Remember when Vick gave up 185 return yards to Baltimore and cost us the game?

Remember when Vick got burned by a back up receiver for a 75 yard touchdown on the 3rd play of the New Orleans game?

Remember when Vick got on his cell phone to get clarification on something that should have been addressed at the beginning of the week?

Remember when Roddy White dropped that pass because Vick could only hit him in the chest with it?

Remember when Vick repeatedly wasnt’ able to provide pass protection to himself for more than 2-3 seconds in the pocket?

Remember when Vick constantly was involved in all fights and skirmishes and led his team in negative penalty yardage?

Remember when Hines Ward ran right by Vick with one shoe on to score a touchdown?

Let’s face it people. When you have 11 Pro Bowlers on your team, yet the ENTIRE team plays bad, you don’t blame your QB. You blame the coaches. How does San Francisco have the same record as us? They knew who to let go. Guess who picked up all of those mediocre coaches and players?

Jim Mora runs an undisciplined team, which allows Deangelo Hall to constantly run his mouth and cost his team. It allows Mike Vick to flip off his fans(even though ATL fans deserve it). It allows your offensive Coordinator to neutralize the most dynamic player in the league. What kind of head coach says “I’m not going to tell Mike to protect the football”? What kind of coach allows D Hall to give up penalty yardage and the selfish play he tried at the end of the half? Why was he going for an INT? was he going to return it 100 yards? NO. He was trying to pad his stats instead of win the game.

If I run this team, then Vick and Hall are benched this week. Knapp is fired today and the entire organization is on notice that they may not make it to Christmas. This season is lost. Let’s see who wants to be here next year.

It’s not all Vick’s fault, that’s correct. He should still be benched for a game, or as I suggested above, at least held out for a quarter…something, anything.

But to totally dismiss Vick’s dismal numbers is missing the point. Yeah, his receivers suck…SUCK, and should all be cut. But he (Vick) also needs to be reevaluated as well.

If nothing else some symbolic messages need to be sent immediately.

And btw, being critical of the team you support with cash isn’t being a bandwagon lunkhead by any stretch of the imagination. The organization owes EVERYTHING to its fans because the organization wouldn’t exist were it not for them.

Was it just me or did it look like Vick was actually gesturing toward specfic person/s. He did not give a Jack McDowell rousing finger wave, nor a blind Randy Moss moonshine to whomever was in the crowd. I believe, as many have posted, that was an address to whomever was heckling the team. When before has he shown this type of attitude? Vick has been a leader for his team. In the same interview that people cite where he said “we need to find ways to catch the ball” he also added “maybe i need to make more plays myself….throw the ball better”. This sounds much better than Peyton “laser, rocket arm” Mannings assesment of his O-line’s play after they lost to Pittsburgh or Matt Leinart’s post game after losing to VY in the Rose. He doesn’t throw people under the bus, unlike even the head coach’s father did in an attempt to insulate Mora Jr.’s let downs this season. From a marketing standpoint obviously Blank is/will not be happy about the situation, but VICK IS THE FRANCHISE. We all know that all will be forgiven once the ‘cones start winning again- particularly given ATL’s fairweather nature.

On another note, fans need to stop being so D@mn sensative anyway. We expect to be able to berate players we supposedly cheer for when they are giving their all, but coming up a little short and not expect any reprisal? It would be foolish and short sighted to blame this one on #7. Get off your high horses. David Justice was right- and the fans forgave him as they all lined up Peachtree to take his picture at the WS parade.

Vick flipping off fans is not cool. What it may take is a change of scenery. Maybe the birds should trade him. But I will say this, the team that gets him will love him. And when he has success with that other team, all of the dumb a*******e$ that wanted him gone will speak as if they were the very ones upset when we traded him. And believe me folks, for all of you that are calling on Schaub, wait until the offseason, when DCs begin to game plan for him. These guys get paid to look at a QBs every tendency. I’m not saying he is going to fail but the history of backup QBs show that there was a reason they were backups.

In reference to the coaching, I actually like Mora but his inexperience has shown through for the past two years. In other words, when adversity has hit his team, he didn’t know what to do. My predictions are as follow: Knapp and Donatell will be jettison. What bothers me about Knapp is that he should’ve been in the booth and not on the field. This caught up with him in San Francisco and its catching up with him in the ATL. How in the heck can you see what the D is doing, when you are at eye level? How can you make adjustments to your game plan when you can’t see the entire field? This is why he keeps calling the same tired plays. This is why when the team got into the RZ they couldn’t score touchdowns because he is 30+ yds away from the field and at an angle.

dirtybird.. vick gets the blame because he gets paid 100+mil dollars and is the face of this franchise… maybe he has smallish, weak inept offensive lineman because this team CAN’T AFFORD ANY DECENT ONE’S.. so considering the lack of funds …the birds can’t sign a high profile receiver the falcons have to use their first round pick on receivers for two straight years! i’m not putting all the blame on mike vick.. but the fact of the matter is this current team is built around him… and this current team .. for a lack of a better word blows!

check eli in ny… he gets all the blame too.. don’t know if that’s fair or not… but in the nfl.. THE QUARTERBACK gets the praise if the TEAM does well and he get all the criticism if the team under performs.. so please get over the fact that vick is getting thrown under the bus.. it’s the nature of this business… besides the guy needs more accountability..

his comments on hbo lacked class and is completely inexcusable for a team leader to say those kind of things…

for me the issue of mike vick has never been black or white.. shoot i could care less if he was green…. but after admantly standing up for him for the better part of six years… i’m sick of his immaturity (flicking off fans after a game, calling out his offensive coordinator, receivers to the national media) his sensitivity (his tirade after the miami game, something about “dont’ criticize me no more”), his lack of accountability (two weeks ago when he said “i’m not perfect” = nobody is mike, but bad choice of words, him always blaming the system for his shoddy passing numbers) …. the bottom line is mike vick has regressed as a player and as a leader. he is ill fit to lead this franchise and i believe he must be replaced.

While you all or still letting Vick think he is a great quarterback, think about what the position as a quarterback requires you to do. Lead the team, pass and be able to get out of the pocket. Vick is overrated and overpaid. Just because he can scramble doesn’t make him a great quarterback. He’s a show man, great for video highlights. When he start to utilize his players more, he might begin to look like a quarterback. Until then, you fools can continue to think he’s the greatest but he’s as far away from being a great quarterback as anyone can get. Now he would make a great wide receiver since he likes to run. When Mora stop kissing up to him to keep his job maybe he will coach and make him be a team player. There’s no “I” in team. Use Dunn, Norwood, Crumpler, etc. to make it happen. So what if the rookies drop the ball. You have some of the greatest receivers that drop the ball many times. Get real and look at him for what he is. A self-centered jackass.

I have been a flcons fan since I moved to Atl in 1974. I even rented an apt to Gen Lee the Qback then. I suffered as all of you through the Smith years. I thought it was the smiths that were the problem. As you can see there is an attitude in atl about football that causes us to lose our perspective. Every team has succeeded some way but not the falcons. I wqs concerned when they drafted Vick because of his size. After the first season I was abeleiver because I thought the coaching staff could teach him just as the Panthers taught Jake and Parcells has done with Roma. He definitely screwed up shootin the double barreled birds but he is about the same size as Steve Young was and he was fantastic. Let’s clean house, get some smart coaches, good, not great receivers and pay steve young to be the QB coach $1,000,000 a year and I think you will see a super bowl within 3-4 years. I can wait after all I went to lowest attended game ever when the facons played their last game of the season in 1975 I think. 40,000 no shows. I live in NC now but will alays be a falcon fan. Don’t give up or get mad just wait for a correct decision by Arthur Blank….he really seems to care more than the smiths did. Oh well we will soon find out. Go Falcons!!!

I’d like to see Blank admit he made a mistake by getting rid of Reeves and bring him back. Vick looked more comfortable in his first season as a starter under Reeves than he ever has under Mora/Knapp. The only reason Mora went to the NFC championship is because teams were still adjusting to Vick’s unique abilities as a quarterback. Now teams know how to defend Vick and the current coaching staff has had almost 2 full seasons to counter what teams are doing to them and have not come up with a successful formula yet. Bring back Reeves and I think Vick would be fine. If you get rid of Mora, but replace him with someone besides Reeves I think you might as well get rid of Vick too and start fresh with a new QB.

I was getting my hair cut today at local barbershop and everyone there was talking about Vick’s flip - and not happy about it. I’m a Vick fan but I agree with others who think Mora should bench him the next game since Mora’s in danger of losing this team (or has already lost it?) and needs to instill some discipline. Plus the shake-up might be what the Falcons need (a la Romo with Cowboys). But Mora has no balls so it won’t happen. I did hear some people are talking about wearing Vick jerseys with black X’s taped over the 7 at the Cowboys game. If the Cowboys blow out the Falcons things could get ugly…

dirrtybird says it best in his/her posts so there’s no need to rehash the obvious. It has been a total team effort in losing these games.

Last week, after Mora Sr. made those comments about Vick, I thought that if Mora Jr. had any balls, he would have come out and defended his QB immediately and used it to motivate the team. Sadly, I saw or read none of that. They say in baseball that when a team is doing poorly, since you can’t fire the players, you fire the manager. I like the idea of Knapp being canned today…and the rest being given the heave-ho if they don’t turn this ship around pretty darned fast.

The Falcons best bet is put in Schaub as our #1 Quarterback and make our vastly overrated and overpaid current quarterback (VICK)a runningback (this is where his true talent lies…assuming someone can actually teach him to hold on to the ball!!!)

This just shows how different the philosophies of running a football team can be. Some throw money at the problem and try to pay their way to success. Others face the problem with a full on plan of financial responsibility and player accountability. We were criticized for not paying players what they want and letting them move on to greener pastures. But look at the different out comes. Football is more then just physical talent. It’s mindfulness, awareness, and being accountable for every action you take, top to bottom, from the owners, and the coaches, to the players, right down to the last person on the totem pole. No one person is better or worse then the other. Thankfully we are blessed with a group of owners, coaches, players, and fans that get it. I hope things work out for Atlanta. It seems like such a waste when things like this happen. Good luck down there.

After I finally had Shica’s comments translated, I think he said Mike Vick was the best QB in the league. Shica, have you ever even seen a football game? Move Vick to where he belongs-wide receiver or running back, put Schaub in at QB. It’s not a demotion. Do you think Steve Smith is less of a star because he’s not QB? No, he’s Carolina’s best playmaker and Vick can still be, too. Schaub has too much upside to waste away on the bench. The coaches have to figure out a way to get them both in the lineup.

These are the most hypocritical people on the planet. Vick should still be flipping birds to these nuts. Half these people have never attended one game and are only bashing Vick because the mere thought of this young man making more than they can actually comprehend drives them crazy. For goodness sakes, let it go! Stop being so jealous!

Sitting a QB for flipping off a fan!!!! Would you expect the Braves to make Smoltz skip a start because he flipped off a heckler? Would you expect the Hawks to bench Joe Johnson for flipping off a heckler? Heck no!!!! If Vick flipped off a heckler after winning a playoff game, how many of you would say sit him? Get real, the reason most want to sit the guy is because people want to see Schaub play. Let’s call a spade a spade. These are grown a$$ men playing a violent sport. If Vick flipped off the guy and then walked toward him, then yes, you sit his a$$. But to flip someone off?!?!?! Hell I flip off people in my car. Should I be suspended a day from driving?

vick has never and never will be a QB. the man cant throw. yes there have been dropped passes. but, anytime a QB runs for more yardage than he throws is not a good thing. it seems selfish that he would rather run with the ball. give schaub a chance. what is there to lose?

You people on this blog classify Vick as a thug because of the way he acts, dresses and talks. That is not a definition of a thug. Have any of you ever seen the way Brett Farve dresses at a press conference? with skoal in his mouth and a Budweiser cap on. Have you ever heard him speak? doesn’t sound very intellegent either. Why do we call Vick a thug because he likes rap music thats his choice he is still young, thats what young people listen to these days.So get off of Vick because he is young Black & rich !

One other thing for all of you Vick bashers.

If our receivers just do their freakin’ job and catch those 5 drops, all of a sudden he’s 14-24 for a respectable 180-200 yards and the team has a good chance to win the game. Tack on his 150 rushing yards and that’s a pretty good afternoon.

On the other hand, if our defense does their freakin’ job and don’t give up the hail mary and the Saints receivers don’t make those 5 fantastic catches on so-so throws, Bree’s is a very average 15-30 for probably around 250 yards.

And another vent, would it be too much to ask our defense to get a turnover or a stop when it really mattered?

Why so many of you want to blame it all on Vick is beyond me.

Who the heck cares about some fingers. The real problem are the hands (or lack thereof) of the wide recievers. Lay-off vick, he put the team on his back and he was gettin level for staying in the pocket. All far dropped balls. Hell yea I would be frustrated. If I was him you would be lucky to get the finger. If you don’t like vick than choose another team…cuz he aint goin no where. The team lost this one. Not just vick. I love the falcons. And I live 900 miles north. So all you cry babies SHUT UP. My team is in trouble. I don’t like the play calling on both sides. Like everything this also has a solution…and it aint the QB. Scrap the cut blockin scheme. Build the great wall of china in front of vick. Bring back the pro-style offense back. All the defense needs is health and depth. With that formula the falcons will be unstopable….period

John from Dunwoody,

You still havent’ described what makes someone a gangster/thug/rapster? I’m totally afraid to go to games now. I can’t tell the good guys from the gangsters. Please tell me how a gangster dresses so that I can avoid these dangerous people.

Are you referring to his use of athletic wear? Surely a professional athlete should be allowed to wear athletic wear on and off the field right? I mean there are all kinds of “non-athletes” already wearing it.

Please, for my childrens safety, let us all know what makes Mike Vick a Gangster/Thug/Rapster so that I can look out for these people on the street! I’m already scared of anyone who flips the bird at this point, including myself.

Silly me, i’ve been scared of people driving around with rifles in their trucks, when this whole time I should be scared of Mike Vick.

Please clear this up, and thanks so much for your community service John from Dunwoody.

Isn’t it funny how gets blamed for EVERYTHING that goes wrong with this team? I DO appreciate the true fans that understand that this in fact a TEAM sport. For ALL YOU BANDWAGONERS who think that a Vick should be benched for a game and let #8 start PLEASE!! His(#8) win total for the games he has started is still ZERO.(Some of those starts I even think we led in the game at some point)For all you bandwagoners, that thinks #7 needs to sit, be traded etc….STEP AWAY FROM THE METH. It’s obvious that you probably NEVER played an organized sport in your life(Flag Football at your college doesn’t count). FOR THOSE OF YOU SO BENT OUT OF SHAPE about the “DUAL DIRTY BIRDS” he displayed to your sometimey behind after the game( I can only say he probably should have used a “little” more self control.)marinate on this, Let’s not forget that #7 had to field all those “coach killer” calls because of Bonehead Jr’s Dad. Bonehead Sr. should have known better!!!(By the Bonehead Sr didn’t accomplish ANYTHING while he was in the league(must be sour grapes).MOST OF YOU CAN’T handle being criticized on the piece of job that you have, Yet Mike has to deal with hundreds of media folk day in and day out & STILL prepare for the upcoming opponent but you want to pass judgement on #7 because he flipped off some BANDWAGON JUMPERS because his some of his KEY personnel can’t step and make a play but opposing receivers can make “circus catches” on our defense.PLEASE!!!STEP AWAY FROM THE METH. TRUE FANS APPRECIATE THE EFFORT HE GAVE AND REALIZE THE REAL PROBLEM. I would like to see Peyton Manning behind our GARBAGE O-LINE and have to play with that middle school receiving core and several different offensive coordinators. Bottom line Bonehead Jr. was mediocre in S.F. and that’s all he will ever be.FIRE MORA LET HIM RETIRE TO THE BROADCAST BOOTH WITH HIS DAD!

I absolutely love watching Vick when he is “on”, like his 2nd year - unstoppable in 4th qtr. But observing from a distance, he does not seem to handle adversity well (cold, playing from behind, etc.) which is very important for a QB leader. Further, is there tension developing between Vick and Crumpler, judging from the comments?

If someone else has to play, I want to skip Schaub and go straight to DJ, a true leader with speed, arm, and high QB football IQ.

Will Blog for Food, that’s funny - besides I’m a ‘Big Ten guy’ and we Big Ten boys dominate between the lines.

Two last points - - the birds are not going to sit Vick with the playoffs on the line. Also, the only way Schaub plays is if Vick gets hurt. McKay is not stupid. Why let Schaub play behind an awful line, look awful and/or get hurt. Talk about his trade value declining. Remember Doug Johnson, I bet the Falcons wish they had traded him a year earlier.

By KENNY

Vick is not perfect. He is far from it. BUT VICK IS NOT A THUG.

If you listen to him talk, you would realize that he actually is a nerd who happens to come from the ghetto. MV7 is one of those nerds who played ball during the day his whole life and then sat in house playing madden on nintendo, sega, and playstation all night.

that is hard for many of you to understand. you see a black man having a certain look and talking a certain way and you make simplistic assumptions about him.

How would you all feel if everyone came on here and said that Earnhardt, Jr. never wins because well look at the way he dresses and talks, he looks and sounds like a stupid redneck, so that is why he never wins because he is just a stupid redneck? The fact that he looks and talks like he is a southern boy from NC does not define anything about who he is or how productive he is. Just the same way that the fact that mike vick is a southern boy from a horrible section of the worst part of Virginia does not define who he is or how productive he is.

Vick has never been in trouble, never suspended for drugs, never gets into fights, has never been arrested, never goes TO on his coaches and team, and really does not do anything Thuglike.

He looks thuggish because of how he was raised and where he comes from.

Does he need to change his look a little bit? Of course.

It is fine to have a certain look whether it be the hippie, redneck, drifter, freak, goth, thug, pretty boy, fly guy, guido, slick, frat boy, stoner, or thug look when you are in your late teens or early twenties.

But once you are between the ages of 21-25 and you take on responsibilites, as my dad always tells me you got to put on a damn suit and look like a man. pull up your darn pants, take off the baggy points, take off the bling, take off the hippie jewelry, shave the goatee, get rid of the perpetual 5 o’clock shadow, get yourself a conservative haircut, etc. my pops drives me nuts with that crap. but he of course is right. At some point, Vick and the rest of us need to grow up that way. Professional athletes are given more leeway to express their individuality than the rest of us but at some point they need to grow up.

However, to call Vick a thug even though he does not do anything thuggish is just plain ignorant and I hate to go here because I can’t stand that this blog always turns into perpetual race baiting session but it is racist to call Vick a thug.

Flipping fans off is immature and inexcusable. But I can understand where he is coming from. Just read these blogs. There were almost 600 responses to the Bird Babe yesterday. Weren’t most of us using these blogs, as we do every week, to give every single person in the falcons orgainization the proverbial finger, as most of us do en masse following every freaking frustrating game? Hasn’t every UGA fan been blawging the season away giving the program the proverbial bird? Didn’t the whole state blog like nuts this weekend and have the whole state give reggie ball a collective big middle finger?

Black Jack McDowell flipped off the Yankees fans back in 1995 and no one called him a thug. The yankees fans had been riding him hard the whole season because he was underperforming and he finally snapped and gave everyone the finger. Of course, the fans got onto him a game or two after the flipping the bird incident but after that everyone was cool with him because he finally showed that he cared as much as the fans did.

Schaub is the one who was arrested during a bye week during his rookie year. Does that make Schaub a thug? No. It just means that he was a stupid young man who probably went to one too many bars, had too many beers, and was out at too late an hour just like many of us were a time or two when we were twenty two.

SO ATL fans grow up.

AND ATL fans, if you are going to criticize the man, the team, the coaches, the management, don’t you at least owe it to the team TO GET OFF YOUR BUTTS, STOP SITTING ON YOUR HANDS, IN THE 4TH QUARTER WHEN THE OTHER TEAM IS IN A THIRD DOWN SITUATION DEEP ON YOUR SIDE OF THE FIELD.. HERE IS A LITTLE ADVICE FAIRWEATHER PATHETIC FANS: GOOD NFL FANS CHANT DEFENSE!! DEFENSE!! DEFENSE!! ON THIRD DOWNS DEEP IN YOUR TEAM’S SIDE OF THE FIELD DURING 4TH QUARTERS OF GAMES.

Not only did management, the coaches, and the players perform like a joke yesterday but so did the fans of the falcons who attended that game. Pathetic.

AGAIN, IDIOTS: DEFENSE! DEFENSE! DEFENSE! that is what you are supposed to chant late in games when the other team is bogged down in a third down situation deep on your side of the field.

But then again, instead of rooting on your team, you would rather focus your venom on booing and killing your struggling team instead of giving them perhaps a much needed boost over the top.

The Falcons were reaching in those two drafts when we took the WR’s. At the pace they are on, we could have drafted Calvin Johnson, Dwayne Jarret, or Robert Meachem w/ the 1st round pick this year. 5 or 6 win teams get picks in the top 5. But since we were reaching and missing back then, we could not dare draft one of them this season. So we screwed ourselves twice. We took those guys and gotta pass up on these guys. GREAT!

My thing is, WR’s must be elite in college, b4 they are considered 1st round picks. Neither of those guys were elite college WR’s.

Vick is good QB and we win easily yesterday if it wasn’t for those drive killers in Jenkins and White. D Fence look pathetic in the first half but showed heart in the 2nd. shica: a word of advice. go back to school.

d1truth: schaub is a free agent at the end of this year.

new jersey falcon and all you other meatballs. all of you guys became falcons fans because of mike vick. to be completely honest he is the most exciting player to ever play for the falcons and he actually took us to the playoffs for two different years. but you see the REAL falcons fans all love mike vick too. but at some point we don’t care who is quarterback we just want to see this team win. i’m fairly young so i haven’t been through that many qb’s but i’ve been through my fair share (chris miller, bobby herbert, billy joe tolliver, jeff george, chris chandler, doug johnson, tony graziani).. and from what i’ve seen from vick lately.. both on and off the field .. he isn’t above reproach. (shica, yes it’s ok for you to look that word up)

bottom line is i want to see this falcons team win.. vick is a sorry excuse for a leader. he doesn’t say the right things. he doesn’t act the right way.. and although those things seem trivial.. those characteristics have a profound effect on the team in the long run!

Hey FalconFanHere

Fool!! Vick Sucks - thats why!

IF,if,if,if,if,if,if,if,!!!! If you had a clue , you would see that Vick sucks. How can you support a guy who sits 26th in the NFL as a QB? 26th! As of today. behind him are 2 rookies, Harrington and Plummer( who is getting benched this week). Thats why we all feel its time to move on. Vick has been QB for 6 years!! And every year he ranks in the 20’s in the NFL - usually bottom 3rd. Enuf already.

His QB rating was 47 for Sundays game. He had 37% completion - and only 2 or 3 of those drops where blatant - all of the other passes were not really catchable. Just an excuse.

Vick is nothing more than fast. With the holes in the line opened up- anyone could gain yards - He is fast, its his only asset.

The Falcons will never win the SB with this clown. Realise it - and move on. Make him 3rd wide out.

It’s scary how bad things have gotten for this team so fast. We’re all waiting to see if Arthur Blank is a man of his word & will do something. But we are stuck with Mr. Vick b/c of that ridiculous contract. I’ve just had it, I’d rather have a consistent quarterback who’s not so spectacular but is steady & an actual leader of this team. But that will never happen as long as Vick is here. The dirty bird was just the final straw. He showed he has no class whatsoever. The rest of that team gets blame for the losses, too but we can’t fire the whole team. This town is so fed up, it’s almost to the point where not a single person will care about them. It’s a shame for all of the classy players who are still here, Warrick, Alge, Brooking, Kerney, Finn, etc…D. Hall has no class, either. All talk, no action. He gets burned by someone every week! This team has no discipline & no backbone. Help us Arthur!!!!!

I’ve seen all of those interviews and to be honest, all of those QB’s that you mentioned gave entirely different interviews. I’m totally lost now. I did notice that Tom Brady was wearing a Patriots hat instead of a Falcons hat.

Now that you’ve tried to describe what a thug QB isn’t, can you answer the original question and describe what a Thug QB is?

but just to be sure, my children are safe around Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Ben Roethlesberger(unless there is a motorcycle involved), but they are not safe around the dangerous Mike Vick right?

Please, I have to know how to spot these people. You are providing great insight to all of us here in America. My children thank you.

Either you are going to be a fan win or loser or don’t be a fan at all. Yeah he makes mistakes just like any other quarterback but you don’t hear about them all week every week. I just have one last thing to say
