8 predictions for last 9 games
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Hey gang, I’m in the process of getting some updated free agent lists, so hopefully I might be able to post those at some point next week. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
Since we’re kind of on the subject, what position do you think the Falcons need to address first in the draft? At this point, it would be hard not to look at the secondary since depth and top-level talent seem to be more shallow there than at any other position.
Some random thoughts heading into the final nine games:
The Falcons will continue to lead the league in rushing, but they won’t have as many big games as they’ve had.
Michael Vick will get better in the passing game, but again his improvement will come at the hands of Alge Crumpler, whose impact to the offense can’t be overstated.
There will continue to be inconsistency at wide receiver but Roddy White will finally get going.
FB Justin Griffith should become more of a factor.
Kicker/punter Michael Koenen will be the team’s top special-teams player.
Patrick Kerney, as good as he played, will have an even better run because of the attention more teams will pay to Rod Coleman.
LB Demorrio Williams will gain some national attention because of his playmaking skills. He just seems so natural on the weak side.
DeAngelo Hall will have a shoe deal with Nike before the New Year.
Let’s have some fun with this. Come up with your own list. Keep it clean and reasonable.

The Falcons will become better at stopping the run. The emergence of Lake & Williams at LB will offset the loss of Hartwell
Brian Finneran will receive the majority of catches in the passing game. Crumpler will remain the big play threat.
Atlanta will finish 6-2, with their only losses coming against Tampa & Carolina (split the series with each)
Someone will finally give Vick credit for the player that he is and stop trying to compare him to other pocket QB’s
Bandwagon fans will stop crying long enough about Vick’s imperfections to rejoice with the rest of us true fans as Atlanta finally ends the hex of not having back to back winning seasons.

The Falcons’ defense will rise from 23rd to rank in the upper half of the league by the end of the season.
Vick will miss one more game this season…and the Falcons will win that game.
Vick will have two 100-yard rushing days (against Green Bay in two weeks and the Saints on Monday Night on December 12).
The Falcons will finish 11-5 and win the NFC South.
Warrick Dunn will rush for 700 yards and end up with a career-high 1400-plus yard season.
Jason Webster will give up at least six more big plays this year and continue to make people wonder why he received such a big contract.
Justin Griffith, Rod Coleman, Pat Kerney, DeAngelo Hall, Alge Crumpler and Warrick Dunn will be voted to the Pro Bowl. Vick will be named as an alternate to McNabb, Brunell and Hasselbeck.
The Falcons will throw the ball more in the second half of the season…and they will have more success.

This off season will see the team addressing the secondary and finding more defensive line help because of age at end.
Roddy White will become more involved in the passing game.
The defense will be a lot better with three three down linebackers on the field and the defensive line depth starting to pay dividends.
The Bucs will sweep the Falcons and they’ll split with Carolina to go 11-5 and miss winning the division because of the head to head tie-breaker.
Warrick Dunn will enjoy the best year of his career and Mckay will scratch his head trying to figure out if a contract extension is in order.
The Saints will complain about more questionable officiating after the Monday night rematch.
Dwayne Blakley will re-emerge as the forgotten man in the offense.
Todd McClure will continue to be the player that no one rags in the blogs anymore. He’s quietly having a very good season. We vilified him last year, but I’m giving props where they’re due this season.
Jim Mora will burn out a nose hair when he sniffs the ammonia bottle a little too hard before the Tampa Bay game in the Dome.

This was my post on the AFMB before this blog…
Regardless of the endless Vick rants, is there a team left on our schedule that is actually looking forward to facing this Atlanta team?
I’m talking from a coaches perspective… not a fans.
Miami - 2-4 GreenBay - No D - Home crowd - Could be Vick’s breakout passing game Tampa - Not in our house! - We take sole posession of 1st! Detroit - Won’t be like last year - pass the gravy! Carolina - Got their number New Orleans - Won’t be as close since they probably beat Tampa the week before. Chicago - Cold and miserable day for their offense. Sack city not windy city. Tampa - Facing wild card elmination and their offense is beaten thru the season Carolina - They never like facing us but may be the toughest here looking for the last playoff spot? Only one that worries me?
We all know the any given day truth about the NFL, but I really don’t see a team here who doesn’t consider Atlanta a major threat to their win record.
Do you?

1)Jim Mora will sniff to much ammonia, and will need rehab after camera’s catch him on the sideline singing and doing a rendition of,”Im a little Tea Pot”.
2)Knapp will go with him to rehab, cause he too will get addicted, but, his playcalling will get better..For real
3)Dan Reeves will replace Knapp while Knapp is in rehab..
4)Dez will then be cut by reeves, and reeves will then be replaced by Shawn Jefferson..And webster will be traded for a team bus and be replaced by Bobby Butler..Damn!
5)Reeves will then be fired again, for trading Roddy W.,and Michael Jenkins for 2 Tight Ends…..
6)Blank will then hold a press conference with the FBI,saying that now he is the target of Death threats from Reeves..He will tell of threatning letters, and voice mails..Blank will then say,” I know your voice Dan”..Then Blank will open up his shirt and show a tattoo of SW atlanta on his chest and say,”SWATS BABY!Bring it on Dan!Im Blank B!@#H!…”
7)And in an effort to show he is not a goody two shoes, the real Warrick Dunn will be arrested for going around town, and Pimp Slapping everbody then saying,”I am not a nice Guy!”6,232 counts will be charged as he gets on marta, goes into Shopping Malls and asks unsuspecting victims,”Do u know who I am”?and then bammmm, pimp slaps them!As he walks away from each victim he would heard saying,”Now run and tell dat what Mr.Nice guy did to ya! B^thes!
After all of that….
We win the superbowl..And its 7:37,I’ve been clubbing.I’ve been drinking, and I need to be in the bed, cause i know i don’t make any sense now..Good morning to all..Go Falcons!!

I hope Kerney comes on strong, because he’s been almost invisible the last few games. Also, someone said bench Jason Webster. While Wesbter hasn’t been playng well, he’s the best of a bad bunch. The next player up to replace him would be Allen Rossum. You want Rossum starting at CB? Ugh.

Vick need more time in the pocket. But there are times when when he has time and doesn’t take advantage of it. As someone who has watched him from college, I want to beleive he will get better, but in his 5th season now, i am having my doubts.

1) Finneran will get those chances at receptions that he has been whining about and DROP 50% of the passes thrown to him. 2) Warrick Dunn’s campaign for respect and jealousy of Vick when backfire on him on Thanksgiving when he fumbles three times. 3) Keith Brooking is gonna get hurt trying to make one of those weak tackles that gets him dragged for 5 yards. 4) Vick is gonna miss another home game, but this time the fans will know on that Thursday. The stadium will be half empty, Schaub will throw for 350 yards and the Falcons will lose by 17. 5) Vick is gonna start passing for 190 yards a game and people will come up with something else to hate him for. Ex:”He looks like a thug”. 6) Somebody other than me is gonna realize that Rod Coleman is the ‘Vick’ of the defense and give HIM the respect of being the best player on this team. 7) Coleman will never cry about respect like Dunn does. Big Rod knows you EARN respect. 8) The Falcons are going to the NFC Championship only to lose again as Vick passes 22-34 for 248 and 3Tds (1 rush) and the defense lays down like they did in Philly last year. Score Atlanta 30 Philly 34.

falconneil, I had to learn the hard way last year that Kerney is nothing more than a coattail rider. If Coleman has a good game, you can bet Kerney will. No Coleman, no Kerney, he can’t hold his own.

Hey William, I read that post on AFMB. Didn’t know it was you at the time. Good work. It’s very possible that we could run the table the remainder of the season. Even if we lose one, I still believe we will win the division and have a good shot at home field through out the playoffs. I’m just an optimistic type of guy i guess.

Vick will make some “wow” passes this year. This pretty much means that he’ll hit a wide open receiver
Vick will actually roll out with an intent to pass and will do so. Unfortunately, his pass will sail 10 yards over the WR’s head
Dunn continues to rush for more yards than Vick and Vick gets jealous
D-Hall will have 4 more INT’s
Falcons’ defense will score at least 4 more TD’s
Roddy White will get his first TD when Vick attempts a pass to Crumpler but it sails 10 yards over his head into the hands of a wide open Roddy White.
Jim Mora gets into a fight during pregame

Mike Vick will improve his QB rating - possibly getting into the Top 25 QBs in the league.
Tampa Bay will play the first defense in the history of the NFL with no CBs against the Falcons. They will line up 4 safeties on Alge and leave the WRs uncovered. Alge will catch 6 balls anyway for 50 yds. The WRs will have 2 balls thrown to them and no catches.
Warrick will continue to have a phenomenal year in spite of 10-man lines.
The defense will play better. D. Hall will continue to shine and B. Scott will play like last year.
Jenkins will be the only WR to catch more than 40 balls. R. White will get better.
TB will beat us twice (they always dare Vick to throw) Carolina once, and Detroit will beat us on Thanksgiving Day.
The 10-6 Falcons will play the Eagles in a Wild Card game.

As far as the draft, I’d like to see another VaTech cornerback drafted by the Falcons. Jimmy Williams would be a nice compliment to DHall. But he’ll go too high for where Atlanta will be drafting (barring a complete collapse). They could go with a safety, but to be honest, I prefer Carpenter and Scott over Webster any day. So if they can improve at CB, that’s where they should do it. Besides, this season proves you can never have enough corners.

Vick will continue to run for more than he passes and lead the Falcons to more wins and the NFC South championship. Several know-it-all sportswriters heads will explode.
Falcons will lose in the Super Bowl to the Steelers, who will run all over us.
Warrick Dunn will actually warp across space and time while making a nasty cutback.
Thomas Davis will lay a disgusting hit on Vick, causing all of Atlanta to have a cardiac infarction. Vick will get back up and score on a 60 yard play action pass over the top of a stunned Davis.
The Falcons will trade for Tony Gonzales, Jeremy Shockey, and Antonio Gates in the offseason. They follow that up by drafting Leonard Pope. Vick passes for 25,000 yards and 757 TD’s in 2006. Falcons go on to win the next 9 Super Bowls.

lmao@chris. Your right tho .If Shiney. is the offensive coordinator i think all the players would quit because they dont know what the hell the playbook is saying. I still dont know what point Shiney is making because the last time i checked the falcons have won many games that Vick has started so i guess the comment about the falcons wont wit games with Vick is a typo. And your right Shiney that must be French your typing because it cant possibly be English.

I love to see Warrick Dunn run for the Falcons. Little guy up the gut. Hard to see , hard to stop and speed to get outside. BUT - There’s going be be a time when Warrick hangs them up.
If you want to see the Warrick Dunn clone I’d like to see coming after him in Falcon colors, go watch Tech play Wake Forest this Saturday. Watch Chris Barclay. Check his ACC records vs. Dunn’s and remember, Wake Forest isn’t Florida State. He’s so much like Dunn it’s crazy. He is one tough little runner that can go inside or with speed enough to pop it outside .
We need to get this guy while Dunn’s still playing so he can see a master first hand and learn a little.

Shiney McShine, great post. Good to see you here.
FYI for all of you worried about Tampa, they lost to the worst team in the AFC and the worst in the NFC. Kiffin may have the Vick blueprint, but their offense is going to be completely useless against us (especially at home).

Michael Vick will miss the start of the Miami game because he stayed home to buff the soles of his shows so they’re xtra shiny.
Michael Vick’s brother Marcus will enter the NFL draft early; the Falcons will draft him.
Knapp will be fired; Dan Reeves will be hired as Falcons Offensive coach; he will convince Falcons management to throw away the playbook as long as Michael Vick is quarterback.
Shaub will see more QB time; he is the real West Coast Offense QB.
Michael Vick will try shoe lifts to get him up to the 6’ he is listed as by the Falcons.
Michael Vick, upset that Dunn will exceed his rushing yards, decides to leave the Falcons for the NBA; goes to John Marshall law school in the off season and files a class action lawsuit against the NBA for dress code requirements.
Allen Rossum will be moved from special teams to offense.
Vick will be assigned to return punts in a crucial game; Shaub will pass for 200 yards and run for 100 more.
In the NFC title game, 4th quarter, game tied, 3 mintues left, Falcons recover a fumble on the NY Giants 35. The Falcons use Shaub as QB and Vick as running back. Vick gets the ball and scores, running through the end zone with Falcons fans lowering a large banner that says STOP FOREST, eh, Michael, stop.
The Falcons go to Superbowl in 2006. Some drive, others fly. Team seating in the upper level, mandatory.
Michael Vick, announcing that he is a team player but that his numbers have to look good, seen sitting on the 50 yard line after the Jan. 1 game vs Carolina with a calculator; referre passing by overhears muffled mumbling about that cross on the calculator.

1) Blank continues to enjoy hugging Mora just a little too much after Falcon victories.
2) Dunn rushes for 2000 yards but quits the team just before the Super Bowl because Blank wont give him discounted building materials to build houses for the homeless.
3)All the Falcon cheerleaders are rushed to the hospital with a case of uncontrolable itching.
4)Mora signs a deal with Hoover and they make vacuum cleaners shaped like his nose with extra strong sniffing power. They call them the Mora Sucka!
5) White gains 20 pounds and moves to tackle cause he never gets to play anyway so what difference does it make plus he likes to eat with the big boys at the buffet.
