Wounded Pats dangerous
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
As much as Michael Vick’s health has grabbed headlines here, the Patriots have been overwhelmed with health issues, even before the season, when linebacker Tedy Bruschi suffered a season-ending stroke and linebacker Ted Johnson retired because of recurring concussions.
New England comes into Atlanta this week minus hard-hitting and inspirational leader Rodney Harrison — a huge loss — running back Kevin Faulk and tackle Matt Light. Also, four of their six cornerbacks are listed on the injury report. Of course, few outside of New England are going to feel sorry for them because the Pats have run through their share of wounded teams along the way to winning three of the past four Super Bowls.
The Patriots have almost always found ways to plug holes, however. Then, too, they have quarterback Tom Brady, who has a historical run of success that could rattle a few nerves in these parts. Coming off a loss, Brady is 5-0, with eight touchdown passes in those games.
Another worrisome fact for the Falcons: New England has not lost back-to-back games since 2002.

I think its time for that 5-0 record to end, The Patriots are a good team, but I think with the injuries are starting to catch up with them and this week is the week. Patriots go down with or without #7.

Before the Patriots played the Steelers after their loss to the Panthers a Patriots player was asked about their up coming show down with what may still be the AFC’s best team. That player’s response was “We don’t loose two in a row.” I loved that response! They played gutsy and won that game (with a little help from the refs leaving extra time on the clock). This game in the Dome is going to be a real slobber knocker, but right now the Falcons should be the better team. The Patriots are 2-2, but they could easily be 1-3. If the Falcons bring their A game they’ll win it convincingly.

MRI comes up negative again so Vick can get to run short sprints instead of practice again this week. I honestly think he plays hurt on purpose as I have seen this 4 times from him so far.
Where is another QB in the league that does this. Either your hurt and you go down or you stay in and play. With a big lead vs Minn he was content to say to himself , its time to grab a hammy again. On the replay it didnt even look like the lineman hit him that hard and he goes down writhing like its a broken leg.
Lets just let Schaub play and let Vick sit out games until he feels like he wants to play. When Schaub comes in the Wide receivers start to salivate. They know he will get them the ball, with touch on the numbers, not rocket throws four feet in front. Then they return to the huddle and Vick smirks at them like they should have caught it.
ahhhhh….

Scott,
You’re obvously not that bright. I’m sure that Vick is faking injury after starting the game 6 for 8 with 60 yards rushing and a 14-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. I’m sure he wanted to toss away what may have been a career day for him. I’m sure that the receivers were salvating when Schaub came in and was 5-14 for 39 yards. All he did was hand the ball off and scramble a few times. What game were you watching? People like you are the reason that Atlanta fans get disrespected, because in the end, you know nothing about what your rambling on about. You want a white QB and you’ll take a few more losses a year to get one. Admit it.

I often think about a time not so long ago when the Falcons were considered one of the worst franchises in the history of the NFL. Year after year since 1966 I would anxiously await the new season with renewed enthusiasm and and a false sense of “This will be the year” when we finally gain respect and recognition as a solid football team. Now, after 40 years we have finally reached that level of respectability that the really good football teams get and what do I hear, “Vick is not accurate”, “Vick is inconsistant”, “Let Schaub start”. What is wrong with you people? Have you been mired in football mediocrity so long that you don’t know how to appreciate the fact that we FINALLY have a solid, well run, well coached football team that is fun to root for? What is your complaint? That Vick is not a great fantasy quarterback? That he is not white? I could care less if Vick threw for two yards a game or if the color of his skin was bleach white, as long as the Falcons continue to be one of the best teams in the NFL with a chance at the playoffs year after year. Bottom line, if you don’t root for our quarterback, then why waste your time rooting for our team? In my opinion, their one in the same.

Not sure what part you are calling stupid. You mean that time not so long ago when Vick grabs his left hammstring and asks out of the game. He leaves. Then they do the testing on Monday and low and behold his hamstring is OK and he will play but not practice ( which is what Vick likes to do )
Not sure if you have ever pulled a hamstring but its not for the weak like you seem to be Johnny come lately.
Wake up and quit hosing Vick.

Dirty listen to me. Vick is guarding his career the only way he knows how and that is to not play every game, and not practice. If you are looking for someone to call stupid, then call out Vick. Every time he opens his mouth something stupid comes jumping out.
Schaub came in from the bench what do you expect him to do. If he ever gets to play consistantly you will see he is going to be a good QB and maybe a great one.
Not sure if you remember this but when Chris Chandler was the QB in Atlanta Vicks family was in the stands and were rooting for Chandler to get hurt so their boy could play. How sick is that. And just so happened Chandlers wife was seated three rows down and there was almost a brawl in the stands. The apple don’t fall far from the tree. Now Vick feigns injury every other game. He likes the ooohhh from the stands when he goes down. Truth be known he is laughing through the goatee.

Scott,
“The apple don’t fall far from the tree” ?? Learn how to use grammar. Not sure if you remember this, but everyone in Atlanta was rooting for Chris Chandler to get hurt. The Falcons have been winning ever since!! I’d love to hear your evidence of Vick faking injuries. In fact, his leg probably wasn’t even broken two years ago. I think you should take one shot from a 300 pound lineman and just shut the f*ck up about faking injuries. You’ve made yourself the laughing stock of this blog..Go root for another team so that you can have your white QB fall from your apple tree.

FALCONS REPORT /
Vick misses practice again
By STEVE WYCHE The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 10/07/05 FLOWERY BRANCH Falcons quarterback Michael Vick said his decision to play against defending Super Bowl champion New England with a sprained right knee Sunday would come down to him feeling secure enough that he would not hurt the team by playing at less than full strength.
“I’ve got to feel good and know that I can give the team 100 percent effort,” Vick said Thursday. “I can’t sit here and say I can go out there at 85 percent if that 85 percent is going to hurt the team. Hopefully I will feel good enough. I’m going to try and give it a shot.”
Vick missed his second consecutive practice Thursday. His participation in drills Friday could factor heavily into his playing status against the Patriots (2-2) at the Georgia Dome. Vick would not say how close to game time he will decide if he can play, in part because he is going through extensive therapy to get back on the field.
“I’m doing everything I can,” said Vick, who is listed as probable on the injury report. …………………………………
This is laughable. Vick ” Not sure if I will be OK but I will give it 75% I mean I will give it 80 % wa wa wa wa.
Let Vicks a* sit on the pine until he has the guts to play.
Since when does a NFL QB make the decision if he will play or not. That is normally left up to the coachs but then Vick is the 50 million untouchable. Quit treating him differantly and they may get him to play without pretending to be hurt all the time.

Scott,
Go root for the Panthers. There’s not enough room in the dome for you anyways. You sound a little jealous. Ask any defensive coordinator in the league if Vick is a joke. Ask them who they would rather game plan for. I hope you keep writing in because your argument is really entertaining. “Vick is faking injuries” LOL. You’re faking like you know something about football. Vick states that he doesn’t want to be detrimental to the team and you take that as faking an injury. The Bucs and Panthers have a white QB so you can root for them. Don’t go in the Saints direction though, Brooks might start faking injuries too.

I don’t care if the Falcons QB is white or black. I just want one that is not a weiner. I hate the Bucs and the Panthers. And Brooks is Vicks Martin Lawrence looking peahead cousin anyways. Any the Saints are losers.
Vick says even at 85% he is still better than any QB in the NFL.
If Vick would quit whining and stop laying down like a chump, there would be no need for me to report it as I see it.
If you don’t understand that he don’t like to practice then you are missing the point. Old school says if you dont practice you dont play. But he is prima donna so he dont fall in that category with Mora and the boys. Mora is afraid if he stands up to Vick then Blank will fire him. Its probably true.

Scott,
Meanwhile. The Falcons are 3-1 and favored this weekend against the defending champs. The Falcons have an outstanding winning percentage when Vick is in the game, and a horrible record when he is not. You’re worried about whether Vick practices or not, and we’re worried about whether the Falcons win or not. If you followed the Falcons in the offseason you would know that Vick was in training camp early, and spent long hours with Knapp over the summer learning the new system better. Old school thoughts are being run over by the new school Atlanta Falcons and Michael Vick. You’re the only chump here because the Falcons are 3-1 this year and went to the NFC Championship game last year. Obviously Mora, Blank, McKay, Vick and the rest of the Falcons have a small idea of what they are doing. McNabb is probably faking his injuries too. Don’t forget that Tom Brady is listed as probable for the game either. I’m sure you don’t think he is faking though.

Scott, I do not think you are a racist, or that you don,t like Vick because he is black. What you say is true, old school coaches required a player to practice during the week or the player did not play on Sunday. But I would like for you to think back to the not so distant past. We had a quarterback named Chris Chandler who spent more time being helped off the field than playing on it. During those days we saw the back ups more than the starter. Injuries are common among NFL quarterbacks. Some handle injuries differently than others. I think we should give Mike the benefit of the doubt when he says that he is injured. He has taken quite a beaten over the short course of his NFL career. But he has never said anything about his offensive line or any of his team mates in negative way. He is a team player. Let’s just appreciate him and hope he stays healthy enough to play.

What you said here was the truth!
“I often think about a time not so long ago when the Falcons were considered one of the worst franchises in the history of the NFL. Exactly what I have been thinking.
We finally have team and orgainization that we can all really be proud of and some of these fans still want to pull them down.
I have been a Falcon fan win or lose all my life (1966-present) and will always be. They can break my heart and I will still stand behind them because it’s what fans like you an myself do.
It’s a family thing.
Which makes the new Blank, McKay and Mora era even more sweeter. Those of us who have really been there through the bad years finally have the knowledge that our blind loyality each season will be rewarded.

The Pats were missing their Pro-Bowl, man-child defensive end/defensive tackle Richard Seymour, playmaking middle linebacker Tedi Bruschi, bone-crushing strong safety Rodney Harrison, starting cornerbacks Poole and Gay, starting left tackle Matt Light, and third-down running back Kevin Faulk. It’s an injury DISASTER FIELD in New England. It’s laughable. The Pats are signing players from the streets as a stop-gap to fill out the roster. Back-ups are playing for the back-ups. So if Vick is hurt, HIS back-up comes in and throws for 300 yards with 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions, his absence is not an excuse for defeat. The Patriots, even with all the devastating injuries, are still a notch better than the Falcons with or without Vick.
