Let’s hear it for the boy! (Or girl!)
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Me. Me. Me. Or, in blog world, You. You. You. It recently occurred to me as I pondered blog options that most topics (and for good reason) are about the self. What we want, what we think of ourselves, what we deem appropriate, etc.
Not today! Well, sort of. Maybe because I’m feeling really thankful that my SO is a patient gem — taking care of me when I’m super sick, bringing me dinner when I’m buried with class assignments, putting up with me when I’m stressing about the world — today’s blog is about giving praise to our others.
I know, I know. Not all of us are currently in relationships, but surely we each have a quality we appreciated in partners of the past that we hope to find in the future. What about the girl whose calming voice made everything better? The fellow who always knew just the right thing to say? The SO who stuck with you in your darkest hour?
Whether you’re recalling with a smile a relationship of yesteryear, or currently in one, what do you appreciate most about your SO? What did they teach you that sticks with you today?
Happy Friday!

Happy Friday I had a job where I used to work really late to finish projects. Dated a girl who would cook and bring me a plate. I knew that sometimes she would prefer I be spending that time with her, but she understood that I was driven, and she supported that.

Dreams that was so sweet of her. she one of those ppl you now suppose to forget now you at the top.
keepITreal from yesterday i didnt say that texting would get a child a scholarship or any of the other accomplishments you named. my point is that texting is a small step in ensuring that your child doesnt end up technologically illiterate.
it has its place and shouldnt be written off so decisively as you done.
off topic some more wow. read the blog from yesterday. wow (again)…. and lots of laughter. yall crazy

This goes out to my former, one and only “friend with benefits”.
I had emergency surgery to save one of the “family jewels” back in early ‘07; I couldn’t walk for almost a week post-op. She called me several times a day to check in on me, came by in morning before work and after work, either made dinner for me or went out and bought it for me, ran my errands for me, brought me chocolate and wrote me a letter, etc. She was simply fantastic! She did more for me than my own mom.
After demonstrating she was worthy of being more than just a f/w benefits, she told me I needed to make her the #1 woman in my life and admit to our friends and family she was my girlfriend or she was out. I couldn’t make a decision so she split.
However, her concern, care, and love, is near the top of any act of kindness by individual for me.
Still, I love her for it! ((Kiss)))

Happy Friday all, I’m so excited for this weekend.
My past loves have all been really funny dudes who always keep me laughing. And they always kept me fed, cuz I love to eat without cooking it myself! lol
Have a great day folks. Let’s finish the week strong! lol

Is it safe to come in the spot this morning?
ATL I’m with you, the thoughtful things some chicks do can make you rethink being an azzhole.
I dated a chick after getting divorced that would grocery shop for me, pick up laundry, cook like a mf’er. She would do damn near anything for you. She wasn’t the flashiest chick in the world but she was solid as they come.
Last gf was the best too. Great cook, fire booty, fun as hell to be around. We went to a braves game and had so much fun we barely watched the game. We were just acting out and laughing. She was a good chick. Some cat will be lucky to get her.
Actually the fellas should give kudos to womankind period because as much as they can be headaches it sure is nice having them around. I’ve always been comforted by women whether it was my mother/sisters/gfs/ex wife. I enjoy that softness they bring to the world. Yeah, we can talk ish all we like but I loves me some women.
As my dating sabbatical comes to an end I look forward to meeting some cool chick overseas, giving her 2-3 very memorable years of traveling, good sex (or at least the best I can give her lol) fun and excitement then leaving right before she starts in on the marriage bs. LOL
This morning lets raise a cup to all the ladies that make life so much better.
Special Note: Still though you have to keep them in check. Warm fuzzies doesn’t mean you let her run roughshod over your program. Heel, woman heel.
Rell lmao.

Good morning everyone!
DreamsM, I would be that type of chick. I’ve done that. Understanding prevails when one is striving to do better.
For me, laughter is tantamount. It eases so much stress in life. In past relationships, I greatly appreciated the one who managed his time wisely and didn’t waste mine.
Rell, smile…not all end horribly (lol).

I appreciate my SO’s calm, cool and collected demeanor. Never really seen him get rattled about anything. Love his dry sense of humor and his kindness. And yeah, he’s hot!
Most past BF’s have had a good sense of humor - I’ve always had to have that! But I look forward, very seldom look back when it comes to exes.

Atltwen so u lost one testicle and that chic thoght she found an opening and wanted to tame u??? Good for u,u let her go!!!.She was going to ride u roughshod to eternity…lol
Jamoca plz send me a pic,takpat78@gmail.com.U been doing a good job!! Due to ur valuable photo evaluation jobs with Dan and Angie,i recommend u for the photo editor position thats open with the blog.My recommendations will be final!
Dreams ur not married nor attached, right? U are on the right spot.Dont sleep on these females and what u perceive is usually correct.Coyness and shyness is not allowed. This is a dating blog so what do u expect, monastry and church behavior?? Forget that.Mix and mingle buddy, its an open secret here who banged who!!! lol And u know Staceye was talking of shaving her chacha yesterday, why u think she mentioned that??,if not for u guys to take notice.Open ur eyes.Oh maybe it takes a married guy with yrs of bang experience to notice!! Im blessed, aint i!!
On topic: The only girl i can talk about is Queen. She is my rock. She cooks eve day, cleans the house and teaches the girls all the home stuff that they should know as they grow up.She does the shopping for them, and for the house. All i do is run frmrs market errands for her when she asks. She pays all the bills and juggles the family finances. Its a stressful job.All i do with money is handle the investments aspect. The spending, its on her.All the bill collectors calls, she screens them and talks them a good game! The stuff that needs fixing in the house and esp in the kitchen, she is the one to notice first, most times. And shes got the hook up with service magic,in case we need a plumber or some tech to fix something in the house. She takes the kids to church saturdays or sundays and ensures they are in sabath or sunday school.Melo just makes sure everybody is awake on time to take their baths.I dont mix soccer with church!! When there is a game of british soccer on tele on a weekend morning, nothing else matters!! What can i say about queen, she does it all.She is up at 5.00 am ev e day and usually, after a good romp with me the previous nite.I am usually up, lazy and late at around 6 am or later, strutting my stuff!! So this homage, thanx to u Blanca, will be to Queen, as we prepare for Valentines. P.S. I think i will take her to magic city or strokkers, just to help her a lil with her shakkes and for some fun and sit back!

kym try MLS.com. Did you get that invite? You’re not authorized to sit out today.
Rell you shuttin it down? My only advice is get a good attorney. This fugging legal system isn’t looking out for you. They’ll leave you living in a box if they could. And cut off all financial ties. Chicks always go for the cash. End joint credit cards, bank accounts. The descent into the abyss is usually pretty bumpy. Prepare for the worst and still you’ll realize you weren’t prepared.
If, however, she’s agreeable you can do the paperwork yourself and file it at the courthouse for little of nothing.
Finally, all physical items can be had again. Don’t fight for them. Peace of mind is the goal.

Blow, I tried to give a big blog hug last night, but the time clock wasn’t my friend.
Here’s the scenario and questions: If you think it’s juvenile, just do the usual and ignore.
I got a conference call last night from a male friend (51) who wanted my honest opinion (wrong word to use w/me) on a situation a young man (20) he’s mentoring in taxation (both are on the phone) was experiencing. The 20 year old took a young lady (21) out for lunch yesterday. During that lunch, the young lady downed 3 regular size magaritas. The young man was somewhat shocked that she drank so much at lunchtime but didn’t say anything. He calls my older friend instead to get his take on the drinking. This fool tells him she was drinking so much as her way of telling him he could have his way w/her. I said HOLD UP, WAIT. WHAT THE F……DID YOU JUST SAY? I was appalled beyond belief. I asked him if he really believed what he just said. He said yeah, why else would she be drinking so much if she didn’t want him to make advances toward her. I couldn’t believe my ears. I asked the young man if he felt this way too. He said no, he thought she was nervous. I agreed somewhat. Then asked if she had to go back to class or back to work. Said she had to go back to work…Wow! I told him I doubt she wanted him to take advantage of her, but more importantly, she may have a drinking problem if she’s downing 3 full size margaritas and going back to work. This is an “at will” state and perhaps she doesn’t care about her job. Anyway, to make a long story short, my older friend is an idiot and the young man had more sense. Question, (1) why would you think a woman would drink that much at lunch on her first date with someone she’s clearly smitten with, and (2) do you think the consumption of drinks is your signal to pounce? Yeah, yeah, yeah, know feed women lots of liquor to get to the drawers, but this wasn’t the case.

Ared my sister in law, though she’s married to a piece of shyt dude (my brother), gets great enjoyment out of doing things for the family. If she didn’t feel needed like that she’d be miserable. Some people are motivated by that sense of feeling needed.

Rell Sorry to hear that but Truth is right PEACE OF MIND is a MUST!
This song goes out to all the ladies that were For Realled the song does not apply to any of yall in my past and it doesn’t apply to any of yall now but you know what I mean and if you don’t and you decide I mean something else refer back to the first thing i said on our first date:
If I ever held a hand, it was only because I’d never held your hand that was part of the plan I had to get it right if I was to be your man And if I ever kissed your lips
I needed time to cross the others off my list (Off my list) A higher high to the trip (Trip) I wanted you to go, that was my wish, yes it was
(Ooh my) Friend, lover, sister, mother, wife Air, food, water, love of my life
If I ever shared a bed, it was only, ‘cuz I wanted to live up to what the people said Oh, yes (What they say, what they say, what they say What they say, what they say)
Now, I’m livin’ instead Everyday just to say You’re the only one who’s in my head (The only one, the only one) Oh yes, you are
And if I ever made you cry All I have to do is think about it and I just wanna die (I just wanna die, I just wanna break down And die, die, die, die)
How I’d ever make it by without you, baby (I don’t know, without you, baby) I don’t know, I hope I never have to try, yeah (No, please don’t ever leave me) Oh, listen to me
(Ooh my) Friend, lover, sister, mother/wife (My sweet, sweet friend, lover, sister, mother/wife) Air, food, water, love of my life

My “Sweetie” is all I wanted and needed. He takes great of himself, me and the children. He makes us his first priority. I feel very secure, safe and loved. He looks beyond my faults and sees my heart. He makes me better. He is the leader of our pack. LOL
Last night we met for dinner after work….I got there b4 he did, so I parked and waited for him. He arrived but did not see me. So I sat in my car and watched him. He got out of the car, put on his suit jacket, scanned the parking lot, closed the door and walked to the resturant. His walk, his posture, his confidence….made me melt. I was thinking, “Wow, That’s ALL MINE and he is soo FINE!!”
I love to watch him sleep, too. Anyway….Everyday, I make it my business do something for him that will make him smile, something that will make his day better, something to let him know how much I love, respect and appreciate him.
After 15 years of marriage, I would still choose him.

@LEGGS…LOL
That chick would had to pay for those drinks…lol…three at lunch all that would signal to me is that she likes to have fun….that would be all….your homie is just a dirty old man…again he should have turned that lunch date into an after work date at a nearby bar..then he could have shown her his O face after those three drinks…all that shows is that he was too eager to try and date this chick…if he would have asked more question he would have seen she like to drank…so we hit the bar for some wangs and tini’s then to the house for a t** tay bath and head…lol

Hmmmm…I’ve been in relationships that ended badly b/c the guy cheated however my last one ended amicably….sometimes I wonder if it’s truly over then other times I know it is. It sounds cliche but he and I were very good long distance friends first until he moved back to the “A”. The one thing that I can say about him was that he showed me real love by taking tht time to learn me and understanding me ‘cause I can be some work at times. I had trust issues that he recognized and he helped me to see that not all men are bad and that love does still exist.
He helped me to restore my fiath in relationships and I know that that’s the reason why out of all of my exes he is the only one that I’m still friends with.

Yes I did say that it was amicable but I left some things out…let me back track. We started to grow apart and for a while neither one of us wanted to be the first to say good-bye And for a time we both suffered. However I realized that just b/c we were in love that didn’t mean it would/could work. And since you wanted to be technical…that’s not the/a real quadratic equation but good try…I see your point.

Hello to some!
Most of the ladies on this site are embarrassing. Catty and acting so high school.
What I like best about my SO? Dude being there for me, good times and bad.

Sup ya’ll…
As for the topic, one of the greatest and most life changing of past relationship comes to mind.
He brought out of me what was already there. Some of the toughest of my life’s lessons were involved with this individual.
While a few of my folks sit back and wonder in amazement at my being able to carry on, without bitterness, resentment and malice…as well as maintaining my sanity and my own level of what brings Jamoca her piece of mind… I simply see those experiences as training, preparation so to speak.
In retrospect, by occasionally remembering the moments that were shared and the lesson(s) being taught, the good times were absolutely phenomenal, but the bad times…those were just priceless.
True, I know what it like to go hard and love someone so deep, whereas the communication being exchanged was unspoken, yet thoroughly understood.
And when it all comes to an end, somehow, you’re not left with the feeling of life “cheatin’ ya none,” because you gave it all you had, but reserved enough self love to carry on.
All that to say, he unknowingly brought out of me the fear, once kept in the back of mind that I could never go on such a journey with another individual. But to simply go harder and love even deeper than before. And to live in the NOW, not WHAT WAS.
It “checks” me every time.

I have the most supportive woman a man could ever have. She’s always honest with her feelings about the decisions I make. As a man with ambitions, I have failed. When I feel down and out, she hugs me and tell me things are going to be okay, I’ve got your back. So, I asked her to marry me. CAN’T BEAT HER!! Love you Lakisha!!!

melo, my mother has been married for 31 years and cooked almost everyday when I was coming up. She didn’t learn to cook until she got married (and was 29 at that)
She told me, “you’ll learn when you marry.” I do cook now, but I can whip up quick meals for me, because I know what I like and don’t eat a lot.
When I get married, it will all change because I plan to feed my family and do it right, just like mom did.
But it also helps I tend to date guys who know how to cook too. My dad never did.

Congrats to Lil Leggs. “Run, Lil Leggs, Run” It may just lead to her taking care of her college education. Whether its academic or athletic, scholarships are a blessing. I loved not have any educational debt following undergrad.
On another note
I got a call from an old friend from my parents (formerly my) neighborhood. He saw me on MARTA a few weeks ago.
He told me that 5 years ago he quit his job at Goldman Sachs because he wanted to pursue his love of music. He claims that it was tough getting a break, and ended up living in a car for a few months 2006. Then he met someone and ended up with a deal on an independent label. Well, long story short, he got a call yesterday and will be an opening act for John Mayer. He is packing for Cali and the Grammys.
Pursing and seeing your goals through can bear fruit.

Since I don’t have anyone special in my life right now, I will comment about why a “Boo” from my past was SO special. My heart felt safe with him. He was super intelligent — and good looking. We not only completed each other’s sentences, but we shared the same great sense of humor. When we were out together, many times we would suddently start laughing, and without saying a word to each other, we both knew we were laughing at the same thing. We could be silly with one another, and as long as my hand was in his and his in mine, it was as though we were the only two people on earth. We were like a matching pair of gloves—seriously. Because I know how special THAT feeling was—I’m not going to give up until I meet someone and have THAT feeling all over again. Hummm. It sure did feel good to have it like that! GRT

I’ve notice that females don’t go to that extreme. I know other guys that dropped everything and moved out to California to pursue acting careers. Two of them actually have succeeded. A couple of others are part of the sea of acting wannabees that is LA. One of the successful ones was a lead actor on a show called “Saved”. Recently, he was Platoon Commander Huggs in “Miracle at St. Anna”. His name is Omari. He went to UGA and played football for them.
The females at least work as writers for “reality shows”. The guys just focus on being front of the camera and nothing else.

There are parties and events going on as well this weekend too.

Jamoca It’s true. Some are out with it, and some conceal it until the right moment. Either way, we all get down with the get down when the circumstance is right.
Yes, indeed…this is extremely TRUE. I could not agree with you more. Although, it’s funny…seems some who portray themselves as good girls (whatever that means), are supposedly the Realest though, let some of the menfolks tell it. hehehe
But to “touch up” a little bit on matters of concealing what already lies within us, it is my understanding that some find it terribly confusing because a lot of men come with that “I want a Lady in the light and a Freak in the dark” talk. So may be there lies the perception of concealing what’s really going on. Of course, there are those of us who simply choose not to take the bizness to the streets…and I’m not disputing in anyway that a lady should run hers with class.
IMO, we’re all adults here, “we like what we like” . Get with the right one, and you’ll find this to be revealed, effortlessly. That alls I’m sayin’

Jamocha Whatever you like, claim it unapologetically. Be confident about what you like, but be classy at the same time. I feel you. So, are you a good girl? lol

It’s 10 til closing time….associates of MANgie you had all day long.
You really expect me to take that mess serious.
Bottomline: Low blow for Low blow…as for yesterday, the high road was not the option I chose.
As for myself, we can take it from one extreme to the next.
It’s funny, you choose to engage the daily fiasco yourselves. Gone somewhere with all that.

I started having flashbacks to Deltafest 2002 aka National Convention here in Atl.
PG, lol. Guys still come up to me and thank the Deltas for one of the best weeks they’d ever had. Even the GWCC asked if we wanted to come back. We shut the city down (in a good way). I didn’t even live here then!

But I “put on” for no one.
Being off the market, doesn’t mean I don’t have spells aka other needs. LOL But I have a pretty good harness on em. ;-)

Why do people have to act all serious and mature on a blog? It’s a message board, not brain surgery.
I guess y’all think reality TV is real. lol
Folks need to lighten up.
Have a fabulous weekend blog fam!

Melo on the iphone case, hit ebay. Cases that I paid 30 bux for are on there for 10.
You’re not leaving. For you I recommend marriage. You’d have a case of triple gonorrhea, crabs, and a double dose of chlamydia before your first week out here. Its a minefield.
Rell* you still hit strip clubs? I thought that went out in the 90’s. Better check my updates.
Stormy dont overdress. Remember the top of the mountain is near the sun. It gets hot as hell. I’d hate for those implants to rupture. And when you fall it doesnt hurt in the snow. But watch out for the yellow snow.

My wife can do so many things at one time: cellphone, blog, watch oprah, and wear the beard of bees. I love her so much.
