Game Changing Gifts

The holiday season can make a significant impact on a new relationship. It can either push you to the next stage, knock you back a step, or bring out the oh so lovely confusion stage. Sometimes this is brought about because of the gift giving process.

One gift (good or bad) can totally change the game. If you are in a new relationship, one of you (ok, the woman!) may look at the gift to decipher some deep meaning.

In the first year of a relationship, I don’t think it’s important to go all out or spend a lot of money. This is the ideal time to put some thought into something they would cherish. What are gift ideas for relationships that are less than 1 month old? 3 months? 1 year?

This hilarious commercial shows how one bad gift can put a guy in the doghouse. Guys have you ever given a gift that upset your girlfriend or wife? What was it? Ladies, did you ever give something to your man that didn’t go over so well?

Is it a good idea to impose a spending limit on Christmas presents? What’s an acceptable amount to spend on your first Christmas together? What are some gifts that you have given or received when you just started dating someone?

What if you just met someone that you are really into. Do you play it safe and just squeeze in some QT with them? Do you wait for them to bring up the gift exchange?

Guys, you are so tough to buy for, what are some items you secretly wish the women in your life would get for you?

Ladies, do you have a grown up Christmas wish list? What do you hope to see under the tree?

Happy Friday!

The gift process can definately be a defining moment and make or break the potential relationship. I say whoever brings it up should work with their mate to set a reasonable limit to spend on gift cards or a gift. No one party should hand over a monster gift list of their favorite things. You dont want to run anyone off!

Happy Friday all! My last official work day til 2009! Whoo hoo!

I agree that gifts can change the game, cause confusion and send mixed signals. That’s why I’m not a gift person. I’d rather just go out to dinner. LOL

That being said, I’ve been told that I’ll have a gift under the tree this year, so now I’m trying to determine the size and scope of my gift so that I can give appropriately in return.

I figured this day would come eventually. sigh

Thanks Rell. He has a million of those, so I know he’d like that as a gift. I wonder how many of em were gifts from females over the years tho. lol.

Good Morning All,

Whateva my answer was last year..its the same this year.

I don’t have a Christmas wish list because I cancelled Christmas at my house for alot of different reasons but the main one was I wanted my son to learn to count the blessings we have all year long. We don’t have as much as some..but I am reminded daily that I have a lot more than others..a fact I am trying to drill into my son. So I am not getting anyone free, black and over 21 a damn thang..if you working, can work, or have worked before(retired) then you are of luck. I asked friends and family not to get me a thang..if they boy gets something thats on them. But this year I am in the mode of gratitude. We went and volunteered for Angel Tree network and my bookclub adopted kids in lieu of giving gifts.

This message does not apply to you Truth I still expect my purse after you make your move.

One suggestion:

If you have any close friends that you both trust, ask Beau to tell that friend. That friend should not tell you what he got you, but the friend should help guide you in appropriateness of your gift.

Morning Folks!

AmRed - in years past this would be my last day for the year. One of the downsides of starting a new job the last month of the year…I hope you enjoy your time off.

It’s been a while since I was dating someone around the holidays so I don’t have much to add to this discussion.

Happy Friday folks!

PG, how bout I just ask Beau, how much loot I gotta shell out this year, sucka? lol

One benefit to having a bday 20 days before Christmas is that I can determine from my bday gift what I’m working with in regards to Christmas. lol!

Gifting while dating can be very tricky. The wrong gift can send the wrong signal.

In the infant stages of relationships give should be impersonal. Some thing like you would give a co-worker if you were forced to do so. A starbucks gift card. The more the relationship matures the more personal the gifts should become. I believe in catering to the interest of the individual.

In reality the more thought put into the gift says more than the cost of it. But we sometimes tend to look at the monetary value as a signal of how much value the person as in the relationship. I say not. Some people just throw money around. Some just to impress. But that show does not necessary mean they like you like that.

IMO the more thought placed into the gift tells me you are paying attention. Giving me something that I like and can use goes over much better than something overly expensive that will just sit on the table or in the closet collecting dust. It took me several years to get to this stage in my thought process. When you are a youngin’ you look at value and think “wow he really must like me”. Ah no, not necessarily.

If you are going to give a gift to a new love interest do so not expecting anything in return if you have not talked about the exchange of gifts. Not everybody are gift givers so be prepared.

Some people just give gifts because they (we) think it’s the right thing to do, so have that talk and save yourself the headache and funds if need be. And don’t forget to discuss how much you feel should be spent if you are the type to compare apples to apples.

That could work, too…lol.

The cost could only get you part of the way there, though.

Just because he spends $100.00 doesn’t tell you everything. What if he spent $100 on something like a set circulon pots and pans instead of something else.

Circulon makes some nice stuff, but you may not want that.

IMO the more thought placed into the gift tells me you are paying attention.

From paying attention, this is what I’ve gathered he would love and need/use:

  • An Ipod/MP3 player
  • A coffee maker
  • DVDs (given throught the year tho)
  • Books/Borders gift card
  • A new cell phone (current one broken after another Bucs loss)

The gifts cover a decent price spectrum, so I just need to determine which will make him most happy and not irratate my wallet. lol

I have already gotten his gift about a month ago, and when I decided to get the gift, I didn’t focus on how much I thought he would spend on me. I focused on what I thought he might like and enjoy. Hi Wise, Happy Holiday and have a Blessed New Year

Ok, as a fella I can keep it real simple for the ladies. Guys like simple things, invite us over or let’s go somewhere and have a romantic dinner. Maybe get a room, bottle of wine, jacuzzi, bubble bath, I think you get the picture.

Guys, for the ladies, even if it’s not discussed and no matter how long you have been in the relationship (1 month or 5 yrs) always, always get her something. You can never go wrong with a piece of jewelry (doesn’t have to be over the top) or something she can cherish. Observe her and see what she likes, not what YOU like. If you have not taken it to the next level, stay away from lingerie she might get offended.

Circulon is pretty good. Not cheap, but good.

I know that Rachael Ray isn’t making cookware so it may be one of the normal brands that just put her name on it. You get to pay extra for her name. If you find out who makes her cookware, you won’t have to pay extra for her name being on it.

For example: My friend’s dad told me that Sherwin Williams makes Martha Stewart’s Paint and Sears Paint. They are all different prices for the same paint. You just get to pay for Martha’s name but you get the same paint as the paint with the Sears label.

That is exactly how many of my classmates felt after their first legal research, writing, and analysis last year. For me, I felt that way back after my first legal writing class in paralegal school. It just happens that way.

What I did was take a step back and reviewed what I did and then went to the professor and talked it over with him. I pay enough for school and should make the professor earn every penny of his pay.

Plus, writing is something that comes better the more that you do it. Right now, you are on your time and can review it at your pace not theirs.

Game Changing Gifts are u talking of gifts that will get u the goods real quick WD,in the event that u just met,for example.Or she has been holding out on the committing and when u hit her with that gift, she’s all game?? Those wld be game changer gifts.Anything else is just another Xmas present.

For game changer gifts,u gotta have been listening to her.If she was stressed about her job etc for example, arrange for her to get a massage at her house on xmas day. Some of them do these at ur chosen locations and bring their equip.I arranged one gift like that for queen on her birthday when she was prego with prince(the heir apparent). Was she excited??? Not to totally get on the movie tip again, but I saw Seven Pounds last night. It was definitely a different role to Will Smith.

Honestly, I can’t say that I liked it. But I can’t say that I didn’t like it either. There were points that seemed to get deeper than it needed to be.

Will Smith and Rosario Dawson both did an excellent job. I just had an issue with the story.

The textbook was not really that helpful..when it comes to writing..but I kept my blue book

Legal writing books are useless. I quit buying them a long time ago. I just looked online for example of what I need to do or use a form sheet.

Real world talk here In most law offices, nothing is really done from scratch. People just adapt some existing form to what they need. I don’t know if you have heard of Brown’s forms, but they are used in most firms. They are skeleton forms and pleadings. Like I said most people don’t make things from scratch. Some firms, like mine, have a room with nothing but form files, (which are copies of old pleadings that they can pull and use for future filing of similar things). No one wants to reinvent the wheel. Time is money….clients won’t pay for excessive billings, especially in this economy. I hear the partner next door pleading with a client to pay it bills by the end of the month so the firm can close its fiscal year.

Back to school world I’m sure if you did a legal memo, you used one of the methods that I listed before.

I would talk to the prof about which method he prefers (which is more likely to be what you will use) before auditing a class..just a suggestion. It could save you both time and possibly money.

I- Issue R-Rule & Rule Explanation A-Analysis C-Conclusion

IRAC is probably the way the most court opinion are written. First they list what is the issue before the court, Then the Rule is usually precedent case law or statute that govern their decision, application is applying the rule to the case at hand (aka you client’s situation), Conclusion is usually the ruling of the court.

You have seen it plenty of times, they may not have told you. But, I’m sure that you have done it. IRAC is the prevailing legal writing method in the legal world.

TRRAC= Thesis, Rule, Rule Explanation Application, Conclusion. (It is similar except you kinda have to know the issue in order to make a thesis about it. It is a newer form) CREAC is almost the same…(Conclusion is first and last =Conclusion, Rule, Explantion of Rule, Application, Conclusion)…probably least used because you have to know the conclusion from the beginning.

My friends and I are doing a gift exchange tonight. In the past we’ve done a ‘Secret Santa’ type of exchange. We used the gift exchange website (can’t think of it for the life of me) and it randomly assigned us to one another. We were able to list the things we wanted and our secret santa picked from that list.

We this year time got by us, so the decision was made to get everyone a $5-$10 gift. One told me what she wanted - but for the rest, I just went and bought a bunch of stuff I wouldn’t mind having myself - that way if they don’t like it, I’ll keep it.

Problem is, I already started using one item so I had to backfill, LOL. To be on the safe side, I got 8 gifts, but I only have 5 ppl to give them to.

Poppa We only did one memo..the whole semester..just * One* how can you call a class legal research and writing if there is no real writing. I know in the real world there is no reinvention of the wheel..but I would still like to know how in the hell they made the first wheel, especially if I am going into the wheel making business. It is just very frustrating.

To me, it really wasn’t a tearjerker. It was too deep in parts. Some things weren’t needed.

It was different to see Will that type of character, though. He is kinda dark.

My wife and I will see the Curious Case of Benjamin Button next week. That is one that she wants to see, but I am intrigued by it.

melo that’s why you’re not invited to our holiday dinner…but you’re welcome to implement that rule with your gift giving.

For the record, I got some cool stuff - most of it came from the stocking stuffer catalog from The Container Store and then I picked some new CDs: Keyshia Cole (my one friend loves her) Jamie Foxx and Anthony Hamilton.

LOL. I didn’t take it as bad as I thought I would. I didn’t get home last night until about 9:30. I went out with my friends to finish up some shopping. And really to put off getting the news of what I already knew. I knew last week but chose to ignore it until I got sick and had to go get the confirmation. While we out Mason started blowing up my phone because I told him I was only to be about an hour late. I ignored his calls. Doc eventually just said ‘take your behind home and stop avoiding that man. the damage is already done.’

But yeah I already knew.

Has anyone seen Aunt Flow? I haven’t seen her in about…ooohhh…2 months. I think she missed her flight.

But let’s get back to talking about gift giving.

I need to read all of the postings so far, I’m late today.

Some thing like you would give a co-worker if you were forced to do so. A starbucks gift card.

Raqi That reminds me of last year. I received a gift card to Borders last year from a guy I was dating. We met at the beginning of December, so I wasn’t expecting to receive anything. Luckily, I had an extra “just in case” gift under the tree for a dude, so I just ran in there and got it when he pulled out his gift. I used the gift card to buy two cookbooks. I’m enjoying them to this very day.

This year, I asked for a ceiling fan for my workout room from my boyfriend. I’m all about practicality this year. My dad sent me money to get a new microwave, since I still have the one I had when I went off to the dorm at 18. I asked my sister for a new George Foreman grill, since the one I have I’ve had since 2000 and it shoots out sparks when you unplug it. And I asked my mom to buy my book for my next class. I think I’m set!

When I was choosing the 12 gifts that I am giving him this year, it really made me pay more attention to his every day doing. Kym

We only did one memo..the whole semester..just * One how can you call a class legal research and writing if there is no real writing. *

We only did one legal memo as well. As a paralegal, I can say that I haven’t done may legal memos in the real world. Most associates did their own.

I’ve done more of the persuasive writing such as motions and other pleadings.

They didn’t really use IRAC until were got to briefs and things to that nature…associates still did more of that than I.

As a paralegal, I did more collecting and organizing for the cases. I’ve spoken to more Police records divisions, Hospital Records Custodians, and legal experts than I can count.

All I’m saying is take a deep breath, and review what you did first. Sometimes, we don’t recognize stuff when we go through it, but when we look back and see the final product we can get a better understanding.

imo, i think asking that special someone what they want for xmas is a good idea. ev1’s happy! but there’s grown folks still out there that want to be surprised right along with the kiddies.

staceye i agree. personal gifts is the way to go. something soft or shiney. lol.

for my guy, i bought him a nice bracelet. i wanted to do something extra.

poppa going by the clips i saw of the movie, i can’t figure out the plot. strange.

kym i’ve taken many classes where i didn’t get anything from them. they just repeated what i already know or could learn from being in the law office. i wish there were tests at the beginning of the quarter where it allowed you a pass.

cee on my wish list … a weekend stay at the W hotel in San Francisco. very nice. once your head hits the pillow you are out! their beds are so comfortable. lol.

sexycool i love gift exchanges at work. this year i picked up a hickory farm box of cheese, sausage, crackers and a little cute knife. i was going to buy footies because i love mine to death, but i passed the stand in the mall and couldn’t resist.

NY2GA ^5. that is the way i shop for everyone. my mom wanted the big ball you exercise with … bingo!

raqi expecting something in return ruins the fun. it’s more fun to be surprised just by you getting a gift.

leggs my son hates shopping. i hope he finds a wife who will buy his clothes for him. lol. he stays home everytime. the only time i can get him out to the mall is when it’s time to replace those 15s.

M i’ve told this story a million times, but i ruined a gift exchange with my last bf because he found out we were exchanging gifts when i gave him his. lol. it didn’t go over very well.

Amazon I have an iPod, and generally, only songs from iTunes will work.

However, some other places, like Wal-Mart, has mp3s that if you pay a little extra, you can download the ones that work on iPod (Wal-Marts are reg. $0.88, but the iPod ones are like $0.94).

Even still, if you have uncompatible file types, you can always burn the music you have to a DVD or CD and allow iTunes to rip it from the CD. That way, when iTunes imports it from the CD, the file type changes to one that iTunes can use.

And also, mp3s that were downloaded a while ago will play if you import them through iTunes. I downloaded some stuff when I was still in undergrad and somehow, I was able to bring it over to the iPod.

On Topic My personal belief is that no gifts should be exchanged unless you’ve been exclusively seeing someone for at least three months.

Very Off Topic- For the blog ladies

I’ve been seeing someone for a couple of months. He’s very good looking, well educated, professional, makes good money, family oriented, and a gentleman. He essentially meets every one of my criteria for the “perfect” man for me except for one thing…I don’t think we’re going to be sexually compatible. We haven’t gone there yet, but I do know exactly what he’s working with (seen it up close and personal) and I also know what I like and need. He ain’t got it:( Should I just move him into the friend zone to avoid the uncomfortable encounter to come?

btw I don’t need to hear the old “size doesn’t matter” speech because it definitely does and yall know that’s true!

Gifts from S/O shows how well they know you and how much attention they are paying to your likes and needs.

I disagree. I know how much my wife likes to shop. So, I know where she likes to go from looking at bank statements and such. I know that she has spent a ton of time at H&M this year, I know that she eats at Lil Azio, Mulan, and Jason’s Deli for lunch all in Midtown. I can see that she went to Dillards last night.

I just give her giftcards sometimes because I know where she and her shopoholic girlfriends like to go. Last year she got a 300.00 certificate to Nordstroms, she and her girls went to Phipps. It is like me giving her a contribution to her time with her girls.

Now, if there is something that I specifically want her to have I will get it. One year I got her a really nice Ruby hear from Tiffany’s in Phipps. Now, that is something that I would not have given a gift certificate.

Do you know I have a 19 year old and a soon to be 14 year old? Not to mention a 2 year old grandson?

Poppa You are correct. Mason has lost both of his parents with in 2 years. His brother is married with two kids. And although he is married too as you all know he has no kids of his own. With my oldest being out of the house and my youngest spending more and more time with his father, I guess this could be a “gift” to Mason. I have no doubt he loves my boys but having his own now could be the best thing that could happen for him. Well that is outside of me because we all know I am the best thing that has happened for him. LOL

This kinda changes our early retirement plans…

Le Siren It just may be the best sexual experience of your life, you don’t know. And I know you don’t want to hear it, but size doesn’t matter unless you’re working with a piece of rice. Skill matters.

I did notice though, you listed his attributes, but nowhere in there did you say how you felt about him emotionally. Him meeting items on a checklist don’t count. I think that if loving him was as important to you as the attributes and his size was, then it wouldn’t even matter. IMHO

Poppa she eats at Lil Azio, Mulan, and Jason’s Deli for lunch all in Midtown

I had the idea once to get my sister a week’s worth of free lunch for her birthday. I went around to five restaurants around her job that I know she likes and got her $10 gift cards to each. She LOVED that, because it solved her problem of what to do for lunch AND how to pay for it for a whole week!

Amazon I dropped my iPod two weeks ago, and the screen is starting to do something weird. This is only my second one. I want the iPhone 3G for my birthday, so now I have a good reason to go buy one. I was going to hold out until I broke my current iPod, and now that I have, I won’t feel so guilty about the purchase.

Last night we were at Copeland’s and I had the Blackened chicken, a slice of cheesecake and a frozen daiquiri, not even 10 minutes after the last bite of cheesecake I was standing over the toilet. When I came out the stall a lady that was there asked if I was okay. I told no, I just flushed $30 effing dollars down the toilet. I could see if I just gave her a card to something to Bass Pro Fishing. But, I do know where she likes to go. In being students (both of us), sometimes money is tight and that card allows her to go ahead and still hang with the girls.

Now as for personal, she knows how I feel about that. I just don’t think that any material thing is really personal, especially given the way my wife’s mind works.

Why you gonna get mad because some other chick had the same red dress that you had on…They made more than one. Besides, if you are at a Crimson and Cream ball with a bunch of Deltas you should expect to see a few red dresses..enough abut Mrs. PG

I have made gifts such as bookcases and flowerbeds but I just don’t think any item that can be picked off of a rack is personal when there are 6 more of them left in the store that look just like it.

That takes the personal element out of it IMO. There are times like the Tiffany gift. I learned that women sizes are crazy…just because it says the same size that is in the closet doesn’t mean that it fits the way that she likes.

We’ll see this year…I got her a pair of boots. If the calf thing works out, the boots will be good. But if not, she’ll have to exchange them anyway.

Poppa I still say I prefer something that he takes the time to pick out rather than having money thrown at me. Personal for me is anything he took more than 10 minutes to consider buying. I do place a different expectation on my husband when it comes to this type of stuff. It’s what I do for him so I kinda expect that he will take the time out to think about a gift that he is giving me. He knows. He has watched pick out a shirt or tie for. I will stand there and hold each one up to him to see how it looks against his skin tone. I don’t like colors that cancel out the natural glow of the complexion. I am complex like that.

And here’s a little tip for you, when you going to Tiffany’s and the like, tell the salesperson what size your wife wears if she bought a similar outfit “the look and the cut” from Macy’s. Also if you know her favorite brand “Jones NewYork, Liz Clay, etc.” tell the salesperson. They usually know how their sizes run compared to the other tags.

To SexyCool’s point of not settling, basically I’d agree, but that lady hasn’t even tried it. She doesn’t even know what it COULD do. And she’s willing to throw away a potentially good man for her in all the ways that matter because she’s comparing what MIGHT happen with him to what happened with some other dude. LOL!!

To me, it’s unrealistic to ask for 100% of perfection. Chances are, what you think you want ain’t really what you need. If I can get 80% of the things that really matter to me, I’m on board, because I already know I don’t have 100% of what he’s looking for either.

Now I see some of the guys point about contentment.

Amazon Yeah, that’s what they say. I guess there must be some possibility of not being able to conceive after it’s removed, so they probably want to discourage childless women from using it.

I’ve known a couple of childless women with IUDs though, not Mirena specifically, and they’ve conceived after they had it removed. And Raqi certainly did. :-) But I need more research.

Raqi I still say I prefer something that he takes the time to pick out rather than having money thrown at me.

I’m just the opposite. I’d take the cash anytime. And I love gift cards when I get them. I finally used another bookstore gift card that I forgot I had from last year. I bought another cookbook, this time for the crock-pot.

My folks know, I usually have a million things to do and buy to keep things running over here. A check will do nicely. And if they get a non-cash gift, hopefully, they’ve already asked me what I really wanted and they’ll get that.

Apple makes it pretty foolproof, if you have any trouble just google it. Hope this helps.

I’ve learned to ask the salesperson about that kind of stuff. I am more likely to go through that for her birthday than Christmas, though. Chirstmas is really more about the thought IMO. It is Jesus’ birthday not hers. She is a September child.

It is about spending time with those you love. Kinda like Kym besides my wife anyone over 18 isn’t getting a gift from me. My neices, nephews, and Godchildren are.

So, getting a material gift from me at Christmas is something special that most don’t get. I get up and actually go to Sunrise service with my mom and pops…they love that going to church as a family thing which is something that doesn’t happen regularly since I got married and changed membership. My sister has gotten so much from me, that she gets a card. I use our nice photoshop program and card paper so she gets a personalized one. My inlaws get cards as well. I get the similar.

We focus Christmas on the kids much like the wise men came bearing gifts to the Child.

LOL Raqi!! Now that I think about it, I do remember you mentioning this before, when we all were discussing how a woman is more fertile than she was (before taking/using a contraceptive), if she fails and/or slips up and forgets to take/use any contraceptive. Yep, your sure did… dang, I have the memory of an elephant sometimes.

isn’t Mirena for women who have already had a child before?

I know this was directed to Foots (and I may be late posting this) but the Mirena is not only for women who’ve had a child(ren) before, just recommended to those who have, since their cervix’s are already more open or “birthy” (let Melo tell it :-)) So having the device inserted, will be a lot less painful than those whose cervix’s have yet to “perform” .

Having been on it myself, it was an experience…but the inconvenience of having to remember to take it no longer existed. As always, any/all birth control doesn’t work well for everyone tho’…I remember a woman who found out she was allergic to the latex in condoms!

Angie Anytime, however, it is still up to you to decide what/how much to derive from one’s own perspective. If applicable, it’s almost like taking from a message only what you need at the time and reserving the rest for later use (if need be). One must chew first, before swallowing…and that shyt did not sound right, but I’m sure you understand. ;-)

We haven’t been to a Crimson and Creme for a while. At the last one that we attended, the national president attended, who was a pretty tall lady, and she & Andrew Young danced for a while. She towered over him because he isn’t very tall. It was just a funny sight to behold.

Afternoon Blog Fam, It’s the Weekend Baby!

Raqimama I see God had other plans for you in 2009. Congrats. My Dr. Dad used to say that the body never forgets. An over 35 to 40+ woman that has had a child can conceive much easier than a woman at that age that has never been pregnant. He stopped delivering babies after he left the Navy, but he used to see so many pregnant ladies that thought they were finished babymaking, only to get a little surprise. It’s happened about 3 times with various folks in my family. You baby is a blessing.

On topic - My SO buys whatever he wants the year round so even he admits he is hard to buy for. Last year we had been dating only about 2 months. I gave him a huge basket to share with his family with goods I baked, wine and the Planet Earth dvd set. He knows I love tea and he gave me a beautiful wooden carved tea box filled with fancy tea. I don’t like it when the person I am seeing puts no thought into a gift, but it’s better than getting nothing at all, which has happened to me. No thought at all, not even a card. Then jacked-up excuses about how all of a sudden “he’s just not into Christmas”. When one guy I was seeing saw how hurt I was that he did that, he finally broke down and told me he took that approach because he had lost his job and did not have the money to get me the type of gift he wanted to, so he just got nothing and picked the fight. I realized then that he really did not know me after 2 years of dating. I’m not crazy and materialistic like that and would have understood. Just acknowledge the day and me with a card and a nice note, and I am very sincere about that.

I have no idea what my SO is getting me & he did not ask, but he is a great giftgiver and very thoughtful so I know it will be wonderful. I got him a grab bag of different things he likes - Kona coffee, which he loves and is a bit expensive, a digital photo key chain and watch(he collects watches, a bar recipe book(he loves mixing drinks) and a leather case for his iPhone. I think he’ll be happy!

PG, I think you had told me the chapter and that’s what I’ve heard about it from the moment I moved here. Pity, because the meetings are w/in walking distance of my house.

I delayed paying dues this year because I was attending a chapter 30 miles away, and gas prices were still high AND I was on the road for the all the meetings AND they had almost 1000 women interested in joining said chapter. For all that, I might as well switch to the one about 5 miles from home, but their meetings are on the same day as the current chapter and I missed em.

You know I’m always trying to stay knowledgeable on the baby repelling options.

Amazon that’s funny but I just had a scary thought. Mason calls my grandson “birth control” because everytime he is a the house he will come climb in the bed with us forcing Mason to go find peaceful sleep on couch downstairs.

He is about to find out what it will be like having a little “birth controller” of his own. One he can’t send home.

We may need to build us a secret room behind the wall that we can escape to when our little bundle of burden starts climbing into our bed. A hideaway love shack.

Everybody I knew that had the shot got pregnant. LOL!! They do say that you have to be right on time with that repeat, and sometimes women aren’t really thinking about going back to the doctor in exactly 3 months. So I decided against that method.

Now that I think about it, maybe the Mirena would have made more sense for me if I had started having kids when I was in my 20s, while there was still some time left to change my mind if I only thought I was done. I’m getting old, so by the time I pop one out, I’m definitely going to be done. Tubes chopped, tied, AND burned.

That mess will have putting on a few extra pounds all of a sudden (learned that longtime ago), and have your cycle all jacked up!!! How would you like to have Aunt Flow over for several WEEKS AT A TIME?!!! Mmmmhmmm…or sporatically disappear into thin air, like a fart in the wind, without moments notice? Afternoon all.

On topic: I buy myself the best gifts because I know exactly what I want and need. Last year my best gift was 2 packs of athletic socks because mine were getting holy.

For a chick get her something in the middle the first year. These chickenheads think because you’ve been together a few months you should open the vault. Bump that.

Fellas, has being a man been reduced to Jared commercials? I watch that commercial and its insulting. Because I’m not meeting up to your needs I’ll buy you diamonds. What a message. Here’s my version. I’m heading to the game and you ain’t getting shyt. This is getting ridiculous.

I was getting my oil changed this morning and got pulled into a child support discussion with 2 cats. It was hilarious. One cat was on the verge of tears. Said he’s been thinking about killing the chick. Being who I am I said go for it. LOL

Raqi congrats on the baby. Bug my azz, yous pregnant. I think you should name the baby after a blogger. Girl: DAs, Ared, Tatas or Foots. Boy: ABC, PG, For Real or Rell. Or you could combine them. Das Foot or ABC For Real. Yeah, thats hot.

But the unique spin that comes to mind when speaking of the FZ, is how amusing it is to witness how some folks do the 360 on you all of a sudden when they take notice of how someone else is just as eager to swoop you up, just as quick as they’re ready to have you exiled.

…The mentality of how they did not realize how badly they wanted you, until someone else did.

…and although it somewhat saddens me to admit this (well, N/R), but a lot of women are notorious for this!

Now that’s funny! But hey, the sooner you realize, the better.

Tazzee when I first heard (high school) about the cherry stem it was suppose to mean the person is a good kisser. But a little later in life I learned that it is in fact a male thing to be mastered.

I guess for those women who like fuzzy lips it’s a challenge worth mastering for them.

    Truth

I am flattered at all, but don’t put my name on no baby. I noticed that you omitted your name.

I am not baby phobic. I just know the work involved. My nephew chickenchit donor was nowhere to be found when my nephew was born. I call him chickenchit because he hasn’t made his mind up whether to be in or out. You can’t play with kids that way

Anyways, my sister had a serious fight with postpartum depression (they really worried about the baby’s safety), and I had to keep him from age 6 months to 18 months (roughly a year). My grandma who had cancer was living with my parents and that was a full time job in itself. Adding my nephew to the mix there would have been too much for them.

So, I stepped up (I hadn’t met my wife, yet) and took care to the little one. I know the work and the baby talk just brings up those memories of the sleepless nights. The baby heading towards my chest…I remember saying “if you find something in there, we’ll both be surprised”.

Wow, we’re trying to be funny now, huh? I’ll let that one go…anyway, you’d have to ask the men who’ve told me exactly what they meant by the “wifey” type…but from what I’ve been told its because: I’m educated, professional, have a good career, family oriented, a good cook, very open-minded sexually, and still believe in catering to my man. Oh, and the fact that I’m good-looking, 5’9” and a curvy size 8 doesn’t hurt either. News Flash: For you women who still don’t know, getting it up and in does not good loving make. There are other parts of your anatomy that provides pleasure. And some of those are high above and below the waist line.

    But that’s just me…

    By Foots

Tazzee but you’re asking for your ‘friends’ I’m talking about for me!

I understand girl, every woman for herself! LOL!!

Amazon The strong ones I was taking filled me out nicely but I had complications.

I was on some stronger ones with no problem, then my gyno put me on Loestrin FE to try. I liked those and they were affordable with my insurance, so I was good. THEN my insurance changed and it went up to like 5 times what I was paying for them, so I went back to the other ones. THEN since I had been on the lower dose ones for six months already, the higher dose ones almost killed me. Nausea every day all day for months, and I figured out that it was the pill. So I managed to find a generic for Loestrin that wouldn’t break the bank and would solve the nausea issue. Worked like a charm, though it took about three months to get completely well again. :-(

Tazzee I could explain it like this: If you would like to be a “head master”, having tongue dexterity is a great skill to have.

Rell Yes, va-jay-jays are short when not in use, but elongate while in use because it’s stretchy. Changing positions assists with the accommodation of above-average partners. Certain positions won’t allow “total acceptance” if dude is King Dong. LOL!

I look good..well beauty is in the eye of the beholder…everyone that thinks they are cute should realize that in someone else’s eyes they are a troll doll.

It such a silly thing to say. If someone were to ask you what makes you..what defines who you are the sound of the crickets would be deafening. I think that will be my new question when I meet a new guy..What makes you..you? See how well that one goes over.

melo man of interest means, I’m interested in getting to know more about him. He approached me, we exchanged info, went out one time. I almost choked on my water when I found out how old/young he is. Thanks for the offer - if I meet a guy that I want to go after, I’ll hit you up.

    Correction:

The problem that I had was that most females could NOT wrap their minds around a dude taking care of a kid that wasn’t his.

I was called a dirty rotten lying dog on more than one occasion. They thought I was lying about the boy not being my son.

He had long fingers and toes, so that was a sign that he would be tall. A tall guy with a tall baby…I guess I could see their logic.

Poppa - You know that made you even more attractive, don’t you? The fact that a single man would take on taking care of a child, a baby that was not even his? Shows you have compassion, you love kids, would be a good dad, responsible - all very attractive qualities!

Raqi Some women folks have still not figured that out. I was at that place..Leggs you know which one..can’t think of the name..with my bookclub. There were all these women crowded around the bar..some with their girlfriends..others there I guess meeting friends. Me and the ladies were sitting there watching and laughing eating out wings..and one of the ladies was looking at these dudes walking by ..first off were your shades and hat inside of a bldg..that right there is a mess. but I digress. Anywhoo..this one chick was all out in the aisle dancing blocking the waitresses loud, now someone else would say she is just getting her party on..I was thinking chick is the loneliness woman in this bar. She is making the biggest scene to be seen and yet not one dude was paying her or her friends any attention. Kind of sad

Sorry Tazzee, I need peace this holiday season w/ my Beau. The Bucs must win out. There is room for both the Bucs and Falcons in the wild card. Chargers gotta lose!

Of course this means Dallas has to lose, but they’re used to being home during the playoffs. Besides, I love a disgruntled Cowboys fan. lol

Jermaine Phillips (another UGA guy) already talks to much ish. I don’t think that he was there when the Bucs won the Superbowl, but he acts like he was. He may have been a rookie, though.

He did make a good play stripping that football away from the Falcon’s player in the 3rd quarter last week.

No, teach him a lesson. Make him have to buy all new stuff.

Even if they win out, Beau won’t get a piece of their bonus check or a ring.

I guess that since I am a fan of college instead of pro, I just don’t understand the emotion of breaking my stuff.

Then again, I grew up here in Atlanta. If I broke stuff every time that the Falcons ( or any Atlanta team) lost, I would not have a blasted thing.

The Steelers actually impressed me this year.

Troy P is incredible. Last weeks game probably featured two of the best safeties in football today: Pitt: Troy P & Baltimore: Ed Reed

The problem that I had was that most females could NOT wrap their minds around a dude taking care of a kid that wasn’t his.

A tall guy with a tall baby…I guess I could see their logic

Well, yeah, PoppaG I guess I would have been LAYSW’s too, since there are so many fathers who don’t want to lookout for their own, let alone, observing a man who stepped up to lookout for one that’s not his.

This goes for some mothers too. The ones who seem to be extremely family oriented and have great parenting qualities, seem to have the hardest times bearing children; while the ones who need to attend refresher courses until the child is legally an adult, can pop ‘em out like fresh biscuits.

But honestly, I bet though it was hard to believe, it’s sad, yet quite refreshing all in the same breath.

Your nephew must resemble you somewhat besides him being tall for his age.

Okay now, she’s gon’!…I’m off to put the finishing touches on my daughter’s surprise slumber party, celebrating her 10th birthday!

    Why so invested?

The only people that I’ve known to get that upset are those that bet online and lost money.

Well, take that back, my wife gets upset when the Yankees don’t win the World Series.

I don’t care a lick about baseball, and it is the one sport that has given Atlanta a reason to have a parade. Even after losing the World Series in 1991, we had a parade…lol

I don’t get as invested in grown azz men getting paid a king’s ransom to play a kid’s game. And, I was one of them at one time.

Those college kids get me because they are playing for the love of the game for the most part. There are 119 Division I schools but only 32 pro teams. Odds are against them making the pros. So, I root for college guys.

I disagree, To quote Dennis Green:

They (Bucs) are who we thought they are.

No Garcia makes them a different team.

The defense is still good though.

They were horrible in Charlotte, NC on that Monday Night though.

This just in: DeAngelo Williams scored again on the TB defense.
