Bitter Breakup Playlist

I hate to be the bearer of bad dating news, but it needs to be said: Statistically speaking, many of us are going to dump or be dumped in the coming weeks. It is primarily because of the holiday trifecta that is rough on relationships (and “situation-ships”): Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Valentine’s day.

That’s right, some single people feel the need to get rid of the shaky, expiration-dating relationships in order to avoid awkward gift exchanges, tense road trips, boring family dinners, or mediocre sex. It’s a tacky thing, I know! Sadly, there is nothing you can do to stop it. The best thing to do is to be prepared.

Music has a way of capturing emotions that people go through in relationships. The good, the bad, and the bi-polar, it’s all been written in a love song. You should get your breakup kits ready, starting with the best bitter breakup playlist you can create.

If you could compile a playlist of songs about breakups, what would you choose? Do you have a song that reminds you of a time when you were going through a break-up?

The Bitter Breakup Playlist is only good for 48 hrs, no need to wallow in self pity! What songs would you put on your Getting My Groove Back Playlist?

How do you get your groove back after a break up? Since we are on the topic of breakups, what is the nicest way to end things? Why is it that men tend not want to discuss the breakup? Why do we look back on a relationship so negatively when it ends, forgetting all the good things that actually happened too?

Happy Friday!

I get back into the groove by grounding my self with books. Music is cool but books help me better. When I do listen to music during this period of life I like to listen to Yanni, Gotan Project or any classical and ambient music. This is brain-relaxing music for me. No words just sounds or words I can’t understand. lol Wallowing in self pity is a waste of time. I rather throw my self a party or travel with my girls. After exhaling I bury my self in work reflect on what went wrong and what I actually want in a relationship as well as reflect of what I am willing to bring to the table and what I am not. After all this I am ready to hit the social scene again.

There is no nice way to end things because someone feelings is always going to get hurt. The best way in my opinion is to have a face to face sit day and talk (Not argue) talk it out.— Realistically my break-ups end up with dishes thrown, curse words and me not answering the phone anymore ( EVER) LOL… But a honest sit down would have alleviated the rage and anger that went from a slow simmer to a wild fire….. I EXHALE LOL

I don’t look back on relationships or the past. I let the past be the past and prepare to embrace some new stuff. Call it cold but whatever.

G’ morning.

From the bottom up:

Break-ups are usually viewed so negatively because a person’s foul deed or deception actions outweigh any good they may done prior to doing wrong. What caused the breakup is the freshest event on your mind. And then the time invested can’t be regained and you just feel so used and all that other bad stuff.

IMO men don’t discuss breakups because they don’t like to admit that they have been hurt or bamboozled.

The best way to breakup is just be truthful. It hurts the other person but it is best. Just say I don’t love you no more or you just don’t do it for me anymore and then be prepared to walk looking over your shoulder and sleeping with one eye open for the next 6 months.

Groove Back: “Get You Groove On” Paula Abdul

(Unmentioned) Transition Phase: “Single” Natasha Bedingfield

Break-Up Reminder: “Unbreak My Heart”, “Didn’t We Almost Have It All” and “Take A Bow”

[yawn…] swiss slowly waking from a b-day night out with swiss miss…

As the token whiteboy on the blog, this topic is right up my ally because — as my fiance can attest — my people specialize in depressing music. ;-)

So many to choose from. For the passive-aggressive, there’s Your Ex-Lover is Dead and One More Night by Stars, the latter of which is a great little tune about break-up s3x.

Or, if you’re feeling a little more indignant, there’s Song for the Dumped by Ben Folds Five (“Give me my money back! Give me my money back, you b!tch!”).

Of course, Cowboy Junkies have several to choose from, ranging from the defiantly determined to move on: Sun Comes Up, It’s Tuesday Morning, to the longingly sappy: To Love is to Bury or Chris Isaak’s The End of Everything.

But my personal favorites are a brooding REM tune that pretty much perfectly says, “WTF???” in music: Country Feedback, and the master of dark music, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds’ People Ain’t No Good.

D@mn… I really do have some depressing sh!t in my collection. LOL

Happy Friday everyone! I’m sleeepy!

In addition to the holiday trifecta, my birthday comes into the mix, between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

My breakups have always been in November. Two just happened to be on Nov 14. But yes, all of them happened before Thanksgiving.

I wonder if one of my exes is about to dump his girl, he’s been sending me text messages.

In any case, my break up songs always include Brian McKnight. And anytime I hear a certain BM song, there is probably an ex associated with it.

@RELL

Dang! What kind of women have you been dealing with! That is a funny list!

My favorite breakup songs lately from a couple of years ago were Shake It Off Remix-Mariah Carey f/ Jay-Z and Young Jeezy, Since You’ve Been Gone-Kelly Clarkson, and Beach Chair by Jay-Z.

My way of getting things back on track is similar to SHELBY SHEA’s method. I just try to catch up on all the stuff that she distracted me from. I try to read, volunteer more, stay busy, and work out and just make myself better and ready for the next situation.

I also do what I want. I know it sounds lame but just thing of all the stuff she used to hate that you did, hanging out with your friends, doing things that took attention from her. This is the best time to travel, hang out with your friends, get drunk, explore the scene and just have fun.

Which leaves me wondering, what do you do when they want to come back? I think the door is closed then usually…

Morning All and TGIF!!

Getting Groove Back/Break up:

Me, Myself & I - Beyonce

Break up:

Gotta Go, Gotta Leave - Vivian Green

What happened - Algebra

You’ve Changed - Keyshia Cole

Hard Core - (the whole cd) Lil Kim

I’ve Been a Fool - Miles Jaye (sp)

Anything Billie Holiday or the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack

As if We Never Met - Chante Moore

Getting Groove Back:

Anything by OutKast, Tribe Called Quest, Biggie or Tupac

Bad Girl - Usher

Anything by Mint Condition

Some good ole Go-Go/Down South Bass music

Just what I could think of but I know there are plenty more songs, I’ll add them as the day goes on.

Why do we look back on a relationship so negatively when it ends, forgetting all the good things that actually happened too? Because what is fresh is all the bad, everything leading to the breakup. Once you have a moment to reflect truthfully you realize there were reasons why you were there in the first place, i.e the good stuff

Also, I don’t ever remember breaking up with someone at this time of the year. I always thought that was backwards.

Most of my breakups (whether initiated by me or not) have been in the Spring and Summer. That’s when females have their goodies are out for display for all to see.

Breaking up in the winter seemed dumb. It is good to have someone when it gets cold. We usually talk about gifts before we get to that point, and if they are appropriate.

If we just met, it might not be appropriate to give more than a card

@M Which leaves me wondering, what do you do when they want to come back? I think the door is closed then usually…

Whats broken can never be fully repaired with out the sight of the past wounds. When a glass that sits so shiny and seeminly well put together break you have two options.

1) Throw it away and let the past be the past

2) Try to patch it up but the unslightly cracks and wholes will strike a nerver now and then when the liquid leak out.

35 is a football score, not a temperature. Brrrrrr

On topic: Break ups hurt most when you’ve stopped looking. You get comfortable and start letting things slide then before you know it WAM.

The song that most reminds me of my biggest breakup, my divorce, is Stacy Lattisaw’s/Jonny Gills “Where Do We Go From Here”. My ex kept asking me for solutions but really I had none. I was in unchartered territory. Affairs of the heart are not my specialty. LOL Even now hearing that song reminds me of that process.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNvkpynP27o

How do you get your groove back after a break up?: I understand now that you should never let you’re groove go. Keep doing the things you’ve enjoyed, even if it causes conflicts. Anybody that cares for you should want you to be happy doing what you enjoy.

Good morning. Good breakup songs? “One Last Cry” - Brian McKnight, “Can’t Get Over You” - Maze, “The Boss” - Diana Ross (makes me think of Staceye everytime I hear it), “After The Love Is Gone” - EWF. Usually though, right after a breakup, I need complete quiet. No music, no TV, just me and a book.

How do you get your groove back after a break up?

Well, I read a lot, fast to read books like anything by James Patterson or slow, involved books like Dean Koontz. I eat my favorite foods, I go to my favorite places. I even drive my favorite stretch of road sometimes. I love the overpass on 85 near all those access roads, the rhythm of going over the cracks is soothing, and it reminds me of my favorite summer here during my internship. I eat cotton candy and dance in the mirror while listening to my favorite “get right” songs when I’m in the music mood again: “She’s a Bad Mama Jama”, “Encore”, “Groove Me”, “Watch Me Do My Thing”, “Get Up, Get Down, Get Funky, Get Loose” and “Candy”. Oh, and for after the breakup when I’m feeling better, there’s “Chemical Reaction” by Chaz.

Hot Momma

It depends….did you give him an opportunity to get his stuff?

Even business are required to hold onto invitees things long enough for the rightful owner to get them.

For example, Dry cleaners have to hold onto your clothes for 30 days before they can sell it. (Most have signs behind the counter that say this.)

Also, storage places have to do the same thing, except they post an ad in the paper instead of just having a sign behind the counter.

If you just pack it up and send it away without giving him notice and ample time to get it, he may just have a claim against you for something like trespass to chattels (which is a small claims court issue).

Borderline by Madonna is what I sang in my head after my last ugly breakup 3 years ago. That dude tried to drive me crazy!

I like up-tempo music when I’m going through a breakup. And nothing talking about how great love is! In fact, most of the time I avoid music around that time if I can help it. I listen to talk radio and watch comedy on tv. Just focus on something else until the hurt starts to ease.

melo I would simply get another girl.Simple.

It would be simple for me if I dated men that were just cookie-cutter versions of each other. But each person that I get involved with to the point that it would hurt to break up, each one had something unique that I loved having in my life. Each man was an individual and as such, brought very specific things to my life. When a person is special to you, and you break up, you feel the loss of whatever it was that made them special to you.

Now, if I just saw dudes as just dizniks with legs, then yeah, it would be simple to just replace one with another, cause every dude has one.

When I really need to break out of a breakout slump, I go to good old-fashioned Booty Shake from my teen years, that time of my life was amazing. Luke, 2 Live Crew, MC Shy D, DJ Smurf, Poison Clan, 69 Boyz, 95 South, Kilo, A-Town Players, City Boyz, Splack Pack (Scrub Da Ground can make anybody feel like they just won the lottery!).

And through listening to those, I learned that the line I got 99 problems, and a bytch ain’t one was from Table Dance (2 Live Crew).

that’s cool leggs. i have no plans right now. i would just like to have a nice dinner with my lady and chill out. we’ve both been really busing getting ready for this move, putting houses on the market, etc.

i am more excited about thanksgiving than my b’day. i love to eat good, home cooked food. between my mom and lauren’s mom we’re going to need to hit 2-a-days in the gym the days following. it’s all good though, i love this time of year.

Under that scenario, he does have a claim. At least, you didn’t sell it. Then he would have a clear conversion claim…he still might have one. If proven, would entitle him to ALL NEW stuff. If not paid, he can file a judgment against you called a Fi. Fa. (That would depend on how bad he wanted that stuff back.)

If you end up in Court, don’t lie. That is perjury and it leads to jail time. Trespass to chattels is a civil claim, and so is conversion.

it’s too late for breakups. if you were doing the dumping, your last officially-sanctioned chance was october 31, 2008.

now you just look like like a jerk for dumping so close to the holidays. suck it up until january 12, 2009. you will have a really short, one-week period in which to dump your BF/GF without looking like you’re trying to get gone before valentine’s day.

November 21, 2008 11:13 AM | Link to this

Angie Gurl, i know you’re gonna be spending time with family. OR, you can come back to Ga. I’ll pick you up from Hartsfield, and you can go shopping with my family.

Many stores will be open this year on Thanksgiving Day! May shopper-holic friend told me lastnight.

By Foots

November 21, 2008 11:14 AM | Link to this

Wise Statistically speaking, many of us are going to dump or be dumped in the coming weeks. It is primarily because of the holiday trifecta that is rough on relationships (and “situation-ships”): Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Valentine’s day.

I think I’ve been lucky in that I’ve never been dumped during this time. But then again, I’ve been unlucky in that in for the past few years, I haven’t spent the holidays with the same person back to back. :-(

We already have New Year’s Eve plans, so hopefully, we’ll make it til then. :-)

cemeeli your christmas card game it tight like my moms. she uses a caligrapher to address and sign her cards. she’s over-the-top like that. i love her though, it’s her little personal tradition. she sends out like 250 christmas cards a year, at least. i’m like the postage on that is…..lol

so i have to ask, have you been christmas shopping all year long? my mom hits up the “after” sales and really cleans up. she’s already called lauren about the pre-thanksgiving day sale. i guess when you retire you just do whatever you like.

so i have to ask, have you been christmas shopping all year long?

Yes…lol my family wouldn’t get what they do get if i didn’t buy things all during the year. Sometimes i just give it to them whenever i see them.

Seven whole days - Toni Braxton and not a word from you; seven whole days, and I’m just about thru - can’t take it, won’t take it, can’t take it no ‘mo, I’ve had about enough of you. I’ve gotta be on my own, yes, on my own.

Been so Long - Anita Baker I won’t be neglected, I won’t be denied, the pleasure of your kisses, the pleasure of your smile. I think you take for granted, I’ll always be here, just because I love you - doesn’t mean I won’t disappear

“House is not a home” - Luther Vandross A chair is just a chair, even when no one is sitting there… Now and then, I call your name and suddenly a face appears, but it’s just a crazee game, when it ends in tears. Love this song.

Beyonce’s “To the Left” and “Me, Myself and I”

Ex Factor - Lauren Hill And everytime I walk away, you hurt yourself to make me stay, this is crazy…this is crazy. I keep letting u back in…how can I explain myself…

“Ordinary People” - John Legend

Just a few that come to mind…Oh and…

Keep on walkin, I ain’t talkin’ to ya anymore - CeCe Penningston (can’t remember how to spell her name) I thought that what we had would never end, but it’s too late, my love won’t win. I thought that what we had was good, guess I just misunderstood. …

Monica’s Here we are face to face, with memories that can’t be erased, although we need each other, things have changed…it’s not the same. Sometimes, it makes me wonder, where would I be…if you hadn’t discovered what I did inside of me…(Chorus) Well, I never meant to cause you no pain; I just wonna go back to being the same. Well I, only want to make things right, before you walk out my life (ok, maybe this isn’t quite a break up song, but things on the brink)

Getting groove back, that one song by MJB, don’t know the name but…

I never stay down more than a day when I breakup with someone but my last breakup had me down for a month I believe it’s because of Al Green’s song How Do You Mend A Broken Heart that song fugged me up good. I felt like somebody threw hot grits in my face. Dayummm why didn’t I duck.

Lyrics:

I can think of younger days when living for my life

Was everything a man could want to do

I could never see tomorrow, but I was never told about the sorrow

And how can you mend a broken heart?

How can you stop the rain from falling down?

How can you stop the sun from shining?

What makes the world go round?

How can you mend a this broken man?

How can a loser ever win?

Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again

I can still feel the breeze that rustles through the trees

And misty memories of days gone by

We could never see tomorrow, no one said a word about the sorrow

And how can you mend a broken heart?

How can you stop the rain from falling down?

How can you stop the sun from shining? What makes the world go round?

How can you mend this broken man?

How can a loser ever win?

Please help me mend my broken heart and let me live again

Hi Guys & Gals!! I usually just lurk and crack up at the comments made by Leggs, Ared, Poppa, Melo, Dushawn et. al……..but since yall starting talking about SAGS, I had to give a shout out to all the sags out there!!!!! My B-Day is Nov.30, and I just love the excitement being in between the holidays. We are just adventurous, laid-back, spontaneous individuals. We can do and say some shyt that don’t make a lick of sense and still be ON IT, doggonit!!!

I had a guy break up with me on Thanksgiving Day, we had only been dating for about 3 months, but he thought my kids were going to be with me and he was not ready to meet them. I AIN’T that kind of mother, he would have NEVA met my kids (3) before 6-8 months of us dating. He panicked and didn’t even show up, when he called, I was like, fool, my kids are with my ex-husband this week, and all he could say was “oh”.

Cee

My cuz copped a Toshiba Laptop for $288 last week.

Walmart has had that laptop sale every Saturday this month. There weren’t many per store (like 10 or so) for that price. But they have had sales every Saturday morning in November at 8am.

Also, don’t get me started on Stationary….She has designed personalize stationary symbols made out of our Initials. Then, she went to Sam Flax and got notepads, blank card (greeting cards that you can write the message in yourself), and business cards all with that design.

She is a Staples addict. She has paper clip that look like feet, peace symbols, and music notes. Every type of post-it note that you can find, she has it. Football shape, heart shaped, and even found one that looks like a hand with the middle finger up.

If I gave you my love,

I’d expect a whole lotta love outta you

You gotta be good to me

I’m gonna be good to you

There’s a whole lotta things you and I

Could do

Hey hey

Hey hey hey

Simply beautiful simply beautiful simply

Beautiful

Simply beautiful simply beautiful simply

Beauti..

Simply beautiful

Simply beautiful

Simply beautiful

What about the way you love me

And the way you squeeze me

Is there any element of your life that’s based on the assumption that you’d someday be married?

the signs that you’re waiting for your life to come find you aren’t always obvious, like living with your parents. It can be your savings strategy, your hobbies, your neighborhood, your hangouts, your eating habits, your choice of friends, your behavior on dates, your travel plans, your taste in clothing or music or art, your willingness even to buy art.

If you identify any part of your life that’s in limbo because you’re single, try knocking it back out again. Make the choices you’d make if this were it, your life, no one but you calling shots

off topic: I found this on a Tumblr blog and umm yeah, check it out

A MAN caught by police with his penis submerged in a pasta sauce jar was still pleasuring himself while resisting arrest, a court has been told.

Police drew their weapons after New South Wales man Keith Roy Weatherley, 46, led them on a brief, slow-speed car chase, the Newcastle Herald reports.

Weatherley attracted police attention while he was parked in a no-stopping zone near Nobby’s Beach on October 26, Newcastle Local Court was told yesterday. .

Police thought he might have a weapon because they saw him doing something with his hands in his lap, the Herald said.

Instead, they found him partially clothed with his genitals in a jar, a police statement said.

That’s when the pursuit began, the court was told.

When Weatherley was stopped, he refused to leave his car and four officers used batons and capsicum spray to get him out.

They found a 750mm jar around his “package” and said Weatherley attempted to continue “pleasuring himself in between bouts of wrestling”.

A search of his car uncovered pornography, a homemade sex aid, women’s stockings and a Jack Russell terrier.

Weatherley pleaded guilty to offensive behaviour, resisting police and disobeying a police direction.

He was convicted and fined $600.

Raqi - I can definitely see Terrance Howard in the role because of his mesmerizing eyes & he can rock a tux! Denzel would be absolutely perfect. I’m not a Will Smith fan in sexy roles- I’m sorry I can’t get past the Fresh Prince. He just seems like a kid brother, not someone I would lust after. Diddy and Jamie are not handsome at all, so absolutely not. Remember that brother that was in Daddy’s Little Girls? He actually has a british accent. He could actually use the accent and rock that role. I am a Bond freak! Me & SO have some passes so we are going to see the new one this weekend. IMO in order to be James Bond you have to have that look and strut that just make woman automatically gravitate to you.

Jamie Foxx and Diddy have a million dollar attractiveness, which to me is none. If they didn’t have money there would be nothing appealing about them to most women.

I was so disappointed that JF was cast in Miami Vice. They could have come up with someone more Philip Michael Thomasy.

OM…just read a negative report on a b-day at AmbianceLounge this past Saturday. I was there and saw these people walk out but didn’t know why. They went back to Hairston’s for their party. OM!

Sure hope those with family/friends at Savannah State are all found safe!

Hey gang…. i havnt been able to catch up: JtJ,when u go to SexxL party, go alone,no boyfriends allowed. a lil puddy tat and very sweet what dat mean AngieWD is flashing blog men and spinning too…?? i miseed that..but it seems uncharacteristic, maybe its the cold weather… Sexxyl parties are always jumping, she got no time to waste. If u priviledged to get an invite, show up and be co-operative!Otherwise stay home.Whatever happens there,no confessions afterwards,u carry that to ur grave, thats our bond! Has Dushawn confirmed??..he be the master of ceremonies…

What up Demi and Musing.

Ared The food at the Ultimate is very good for a sports bar. I live near by and I always have a good time when I go. I haven’t checked out JR yet but it should relieve some of the crowds. At least I hope. I think the last time I was at the Ultimate, I saw Page. She was wearing a pink sweater dress with pink leggings with some flip flops, a sweat band and one of those little hats.
