A makeover story
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
One of the best things about being single is that you have so much time to reflect upon yourself. I mean, really. You can go have a great night out and then come home to only pay attention to yourself. (There are exceptions, of course, for those of us with pets and kids, but you get the idea.) You have more time now than you ever will again to analyze and improve your own being.
Sometimes I forget about this aspect of my singleness. And honestly, it’s something I should put to use, because any “improvements” that I make now will also benefit me later in life.
I’ve decided that I’m making over my exercise routine (or lack thereof). I’m not out of shape, but I definitely want to be testing my body every day, whether it’s through jogging or the elliptical machine or a fun dance class. Plus, let’s be honest, it’s not gonna hurt my dating options to be up in the gym!
If you decided today to make over one aspect of yourself, what would it be? It doesn’t have to be about outward appearances. Your makeover could target how you handle your finances, how you treat your family, or how much time you spend with a significant other or children. It could be an attitude adjustment. You could resolve to smile at five more coworkers each day. Whatever you want!
And just remember, your blog family may hold you accountable to whatever you post! So this endeavor is not for the faint of heart! What could you change about yourself?

Yes! The elliptical machine works wonders for the body. If people only knew, all the bikes and treadmills would be gone. A good balance of healthy food and emotional food is good too. Diets don’t work.
On topic: I could stand to be more social on a consistent basis. Sometimes I just want go to a bar, and be a spectator all night. I’m not always in the mood to experience the various attitudes that await an approaching guy. Yeah, there’s good and bad. But sometimes it’s not worth taking a chance on the bad.

Morning Blogsters!!!
What could you change about yourself? I definitely need to take more time out for myself. I take care of myself physically but my I’m seriously behind on the mental breaks. I wish I was not such a controlling organizational freak. My SO calls me “Nazi Mom”. LOL

Good Morning Everyone
I went through this self analysis/improvement phase when I turned 30 (and still do it). I decided that I needed to improve my culinary skills. Since for the most part I’m a traditionalist I felt like I needed to be able to cook a meal…not only for my man, but for social events. I don’t want to be known as the chick who can’t cook. Now, there are two main things that I focus on…my spirituality and improving my relationship with God and my nutrition. I think the older you get you have to pay more attention to what you put in your body so that you’re not riddled with debilitating diseases in the future.

Morning Everyone Hope you guys are doing well.
My biggest area of “rebirth” or “remake” is my finances. Not that I’m doing bad, but I can do much better. God has blessed me in so many ways, and I haven’t taken time to do the right things with my blessings.
Hey….where is Slim? I hope everything is fine with you. I miss your presence on the blog.
I’m back to lurksville.

Good Morning bloggers
I know I should “work on me” all the time, but I really try to do so right after a relationship has ended (or even during troubled times). I do the usual evaluation of what role I played in the relationship ending and work on changes for the next potential victim, oops I mean relationship.
Right now, I am focusing on 3 things. One, actually using the gym member I pay for every month. Call me crazy, but I like to workout and it really does give me time to think, daydream and focus, not to mention the physical improvements I’m getting. Two, to improve my social life some by attending more social events or gatherings throughout the week, even if that means going solo. In other words, not being a spectator through life, actually getting out and enjoying it. I guess this last one could be an attitude adjustment. I’m working on making a conscience effort to smile, say hello and make eye contact with those I come in close distance with. It is a busy world we are in, and we pass people everyday, but you never know what a smile could mean to someone. :)

The first makeover I would do to enhance my life would be to read the Bible for my personal growth and not just to help my youngest with his religious studies homework.
Necessity has forced me to change my financial spending pattern, so that area is already taken care of.
I know one thing for sure I could stand to change about me is telling people NO and not feeling guilty about it. Period. That would relieve a lot of stress off of my mind and body.
A far as physical makeover I would love to cut my hair for low maintenance purposes. It’s not super long or anything but I short cut would do me fine right now. Last night we were watching this crazy show on BET and during the commercial the advertised this dvd movie ‘Salon’ and I told my marido the hair style that Vivica Fox has on there is what I would like to get. He looked at me as if I told him I was really a man.
Cindy I looove being the Nazi Mom. My youngest told me that his friends say that I am mean and too strict and I told him good, then I must be doing a excellent job.

Morning Folks!
This is a great topic Bella. While it’s easier for singles (esp. those of us with no kids) to do self improvements - many times because we are single - we don’t. If that makes any sense, LOL.
I’d have to agree with G, I could also stand to be social on a consistent basis. Sometimes I’m the social butterfly, wanting to hang out and meet new ppl. Other times I don’t even want to talk to my closest friends - just want to be alone. Some mornings I walk into work beaming with a ‘good morning’ for everyone. Other mornings I get on the elevator praying no one else comes because I’m not ready to be social just yet.
But the main thing at the top of my list of self-improvements is dealing with my family. I guess I need to spend more time with them.
Usually I commit to working on one thing each year. And while I didn’t plan to focus on health this year - that’s what I ended up doing. I’ve always enjoyed exercising - but now I make an effort to do it when I don’t feel like it (certain time of the month). And I’ve always loved vegetables, but now I make more of an effort not to eat any junk. I’m making more meals at home and bringing my lunch to work more. Since the beginning of the year I’m down almost 30 lbs and my cholesterol (last I checked) is down 27 pts.
Lady Dark I could stand to cook more meals - currently my cooking consists of meals like steamed broccoli and baked tilapia. But I’ll work on that one in 2008, LOL.

Bella I’ve been toying with new recipes on low carbohydrate meals. The ones that my SO (who is so not into low carbs) and I have enjoyed the most are: eggplant lasagna, beef or chicken broccoli stir fry, blackened shrimp stirfry with pineapples, and steak salad with bacon, blue cheese, walnuts, and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing….hmmmm
Tazzee I’ve had that many of days…switching between tilapia and salmon…My SO says the only vegetable I eat is broccoli…which is not true, but I do eat it alot. I got so tired of the same old low carb meals that I HAD to learn new recipes or I would totally go to the dark side!

What a difference a smile and a good attitude makes. I have this dress on that’s as old as Moses and I’ve had several compliments on it like they’ve never seen it. I think it’s because I’ve decided to be more optimistic and cheerful and it’s literally changed my appearance. Nope I didn’t do something different with my hair and no this is not a new outfit. I’m peeking my head into Blogsville again while technically “on break” because this is a really good topic. I think folks may be missing the value that a discussion like this could really hold. Alot of encouragement and support could come out of this one…Here’s my .02-
A makeover or “change” does not mean that anything is wrong with you or that you are lacking in certain areas. From my view, it just means that you recognize that there are things that you can do to become a better you. You want to be a better you for you… When you become a better you, then you’ll be even better for someone else.Besides, as it has been said on here thousands of times before “nobody is perfect.” So, within that context everyone should have a makover story…right??
This may mean that you stop thinking that “all women and all men are the same”…it could mean that you stop selecting the same types of partners…it could mean that you let go of past hurt so you can move forward and love again…could mean that you stop charging your new SO with your past SO’s crimes…etc. Or, it could be other things like building finances, improving health or picking up a new skill (as mentioned in previous posts). All of these have been or are a part of my makeover.
For me, I also need to work on my overall patience level inside and outside of relationships. Outside of that, I need to overcome my stage fright-(it is really bad). So, I’m taking a few baby steps to make those improvements for a better me.
Back to break. Y’all be easy.

LadyDark I could have broccoli everyday! But that can cause me to be a little gassy (TMI). I baked some salmon earlier this week and reaffirmed that I no longer like salmon. My nephew ate it up though. He was like ‘Auntie, this salmon is GOOD!’ Sometimes I’ll bake orange roughy too. But tilapia or a steak on the George Foreman is my usual fare.
QC I’ll let you know if we need folks for our FF league (if I ever get it started) - what’s your email again?
SSSB welcome (that name is too long) - as far as blogging and working. I am very good at multi-tasking for the most part. Good morning Everyone!
Great topic! The one thing I would change about myself: Being on time, all the time. Now, I do not have chronic cpitous, but this is a self-improvement goal I have been trying to master for years. I really become frustrated when the infamous ATL traffic makes me late when I would otherwise be on time. I was especially inspired by one of the fabulous women in Essence magazine’s ageless beauties. She stated that if you are 15 minutes early, you are on time. If you are on time, you are late. This has become my personal aspiration.
A couple of weeks ago, I took my SO to the airport. He wanted to arrive two hours early, the suggested time. I was 30 minutes late picking him up, so we arrived an hour and a half before his flight. Of course I felt guilty. He was going to a five day training conference…what if he had missed his flight? He went into his retired military officer commando mood and would not let me park. I had to drop him off at the front entrance with a simple “goodbye, I’ll call you later” peck on the lips from him, rather than the sensuous “I can’t wait for you to return” lip lock I wanted to plant on him at the security gate! LOL!
Have a Powerful, Productive, Prosperous and Positive Day!!!

Good day bloggers… I have been single for a few months now, but even in relationships I work on things with me. the one thing I have been working on for years is my short fuse. I have a temper like no other. I have gotten a lot better. No anger management needed Jake, For Real, Demi, Gorilla & Travis SmithLOL! But I have always also worked on my physical by working out 5 days a week and eating pretty well. But I must say I have been taking more time to work on my spiritual side which I think will help with my temper. So we shall see.

@ LADYLIKE Goals play a major part in your life to get you where you want to be, when I was a tad bit younger I was told to write down the goals I wanted to accomplish I blew it off at fist then one or two years pasted then I tried it and it really worked because you see what you have accomplished on paper. Once you have seen the things that are accomplish you set more goals and time limits to accomplish them

Jewel I am a time freak! I have left ppl before. If someone was taking me to the airport and they were 30 minutes late I would have driven myself at the 15 minute mark, LOL. I go back and forth about whether I should be a little more lenient in that area.
Overall, I could stand to loosen up a bit I guess. I don’t know - because I don’t think there’s anything wrong with expecting people to do what they say they are going to do, when they say they are going to do it. But then again - most folks I know have a problem with time, so I need to get over it?

@ JEWEL I 100% agree with the dating woes statement. If you look in the mirror, thats where 90% of your problems/woes come from in your life not only dating. To speak more on the dating in atlanta I tend to attract women that see the material then the man that has the material. Sometimes I wonder if I drove my lil cousin 86 cutlass would I pull the same women as the 645. Its just hard to find a woman in atlanta that have the same goals as myself. I really dont need to go to the credit situation. I listen to V-103 daily and all I hear are these SUCESSFUL females in atlanta talking about they cant find a mate. WHERE ARE YOU ALL? Welcome SexySucessfulSingleBlackMale, glad to have you. I see from your last post that you feel like you got off topic. That is what we do here! We blog on topic and then get sidetracked here and there, no need to apologize.
Demi you are too much!!
Tazzee I feel you on the time thing. I HATE to be late!! In high school I was told to be on time is late and I have lived by that ever since! A lot of times I will go places alone b/c I dont want to be late or if I am going with those who dont care about being on time, I drive!!
Hey QC, Ladylike, IG, Raqi, T-Mango, Jake, SJ, TRAVIS, Gorilla O, Lady Dark, Cinderella, Staceye and anyone I missed!!
on topic I know that I need to be more open in terms of communication. I am not the most open person and a lot of people feel like they cant get close to me (or dont know the real me) b/c I tend to be so withdrawn (I guess). I dont want to be wide open so to speak but I think if I could open myself up some, I could benefit in the long run.

Staceye I was lurking, but to answer your question… Yep. All the time. I’d like to practice on my floorwork a few times a week, but I’ve been slacking lately.
I think about things I’d like to change about myself all the time. Some of the things I think I need to change actually make me who I am, so I back off of those and learn to love the parts of me that are not so perfect.
One of the things that I’m working on in regards to other people is to be more accepting of them and their faults. I admit that I can hold a grudge tighter than most, so I am working true forgiveness into my life. I recently reached out to two people who I wrote off completely in the past year because they p** me off, so I’m doing good.
With that also, I am doing a better job of forgiving myself when I make a mistake. Mistakes of my own tend to stay on my mind more even more than the mistakes of others, and I get tired of beating myself up about things I can’t change now. I’ve decided to cut myself more slack.

I can hook you up with some groceries sometimes too…but give me half of the value in cash! See babay…I’m your ride or die chick. I got yo back! LMAO! I’m just messing with you! None of that is true. Oh yeah, and I also need to get out more. I’m content with just staying home most weekends. Since I moved recently, it’s been all I could do to get the little things done. But now since the worst is over, I can relax a bit.
SSSBM *I listen to V-103 daily and all I hear are these SUCESSFUL females in atlanta talking about they cant find a mate. WHERE ARE YOU ALL?
You don’t want to ask this question in here! This blog is FULL of them. I have so many friends that fit the bill, not perfect in every way, but really good, sweet, intelligent, business-minded sisters, any of whom would make great partners for a special guy. God knows how to bring folks together. I guess patience to wait for the right one is the key.

Good Afternoon to all..
I do seasonal reviews of me and my goals. 90 days is just about the right amount of time for me to need review.
As a result, I am heading back to school to move up in my career. I have lost 75lb in the last 12 months.
For those wanting a few recipes, Patti LaBelle’s Lite Cuisine cookbook has been a blessing for me. For example, I love the shrimp scampi recipe and it takes less than 30 minutes. She still have some soul food in there but many recipes have been altered to be better for you. She is a diabetic and these have been tailored for that, but they can’t hurt those of us who aren’t diabetic.

Mo and Tazzee Y’all would hate me about the time issue. I’m on time only if I say I will be, cause I’m with you Tazzee, I try to do the things I say I will do. [By the way, the package is in the mail. :-) ]
And I think that if they told me that I had to be at work at 8:00AM everyday, I would be here at 7:55. But since they haven’t, I leave for work everyday at LATE:00 (Late o’clock), which means that I get here at LATE:40. LOL!!!

It makes you feel sexy…like you are someone else. to the smart azzes…I do not have multiple personality disorder! But I too can hold a grudge tighter than a freshly sewn weave! I still can’t stand an ex boyfriend from 12 years ago who cheated on me. I saw in the street a few years back and he was coming to speak to me and I flipped him the bird and crossed the street! @ Staceye and Brooklyn this is completely off topic, but why do NY women have the most f’ed up attitudes? I’m originally from upstate NY, and I hate to go visit! Don’t get me wrong, upstate women typically have better attitudes than the women from the city. Go anywhere in Manhattan or Brooklyn (especially Flatbush) and you can’t even speak without getting the ICE GRILL. And then the one’s that you do actually get to talk to have an attitude like somebody owe you them something. I’m sorry but I didn’t call you out of your name and I also didn’t tell you to spend your last $100 dollars on some shoes instead of paying your light bill!!!

@SSSBM… there are plenty of succesful women in Atlanta. It is hard dating in the A, because of the many distractions. In time you will meet the right woman. As long as you don’t allow yourself to be taken advantage of…you’ll be fine.
I think your values will help you navigate through all of the mess For instance if you want to meet a woman that has good credit, a strong work ethic, care fr her mind and body, church, volunteering, whatever it is that holds weight/value in your life).

Plies Hey, don’t they say that ALL women have attitude problems, so it’s probably not just NY women. LOL!! (j/k)
But for real (and really off topic), it took all I had to be polite to this one guy yesterday. I was waiting for the folks to finish working on my car and this guy came in to wait on his car. He was watching TV while I was reading the magazine I brought with me. He didn’t say anything to me. After about 15 minutes, I put the mag down and tried to get comfortable enough to take a nap cause I was dog tired. He waited until I starting dozing to say “HEY THERE!! ARE YOU TIRED??” Now WHY did he wait until I was asleep to ask me some crazy, obvious ish like that?!? If I would have gotten a little attitude, would it have been justified?

Yes she did. She is actually the one that got the Patti LaBelle cookbook. she a member of black expressions or something like that.
She is now going to the gym on a regular basis as well. She going as often as she should have either even though it was coming out of our checks regularly.
I may have stated this before but I am a former college football player from the SEC. So being big was an asset for me. Now, I don’t need that weight. ( I really didn’t need it then either). Hey, it got me a free undergrad education and I took advantage of it.

I am not a big fan of reading the bible.I believe in God and all,but i can never get down to reading the bible. Is there anything wrong in that? I grew up in the Church, but as i was growing up, i grew disillusioned in the hypocrisy within the Church. In my daily life, i use common sense, education and just street smarts. I do not justify my actions based on the bibe, but on just doing the right thing(sometimes), good neigbhor and person.I do not even pray that often. But i do take care of my fam(mum and dad), cousins, if they need my help etc. Do i have to be dogmatic about the bible, religion etc to be a good person.Help me on that coz something in me tells me the bible was written by man, some centuries ago, why should i use it as a basis to live my life?Hw relevant is it now? Thats one thing i need to work on and be convinced about, if i have to!!Im a sinner too, and sometimes(oftentimes) i sin knowing that its not the right thing.I think all sinners do though, but one thing i dont do is be a hypocrite, standing on top of Mt Rushmore and pontificate, but do someelse in private.

It depends on how you were raised..not to mention you can’t be too trusting of strangers…they will rob you in a heartbeat. And they do not have to look like thugs. Jewel I wish I could help you, it’s innate with me, I guess. Because on the flip side, I am the most disorganized person I know. I even hired someone to come get me organized, but 3 weeks later everything was back to ‘normal’. I think when it truly becomes a priority, you’ll overcome it. For instance, I think your SO’s warning might be a little nudge.
When I go stay with my friend, I have no problem putting stuff back in the right place and keeping the clutter at bay - because I realize it’s important to her. Because our friendship is important to me, I make that extra effort - but in my day to day life - it’s not that important.
So I have confidence you’ll conquer the time issue because your SO is important to you. And I’m sure you don’t like how you felt when you dropped him off.

Foots….Patti’s cookbook is pretty good. We don’t just use that book, but it definitely helps. We have Patti’s other cookbook as well. It isn’t anywhere near lite cuisine. However, the lite cuisine has everything from seafood to dessert and even recipes for big gatherings like Thanksgiving.
As far as the time isse goes, as a former football player, I had to learn to be on time or run the stairs of the stadium….BTW there were 137 steps in that darn stadium..lol
However, my wife knows that I am so into being on time that her first words to me as my wife (right after the wedding ceremony in church) were “I’m sorry for being late.” She was 10 minutes late getting to the church (the time that the church assigned her) but the ceremony started on time. I actually didn’t know that she was late until she told me.

melo I wouldn’t say that there’s anything wrong with that. I don’t read as much as I would like to. When I do, I focus mostly on the instructions on handling different situations and verses that give me courage and strength and reminds me of who is in control. I feel the relevance of what I read, even though it was written long ago, because there’s nothing new under the sun.
IMO, what’s most important is your personal relationship with God, whatever that may be, getting to know Him. Some people read as much as they can about Him to get to know Him. Some learn about Him through their direct experiences with Him, when He has intervened in some way and revealed Himself. Whatever works for you and makes you feel satisfied with where you are spiritually is what you should do. If you’re not satisfied though, you may need to increase the amount of spiritual food you eat.

Tazzee Scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours…I am methodical, anal (almost), organized, everything-must-be-in-it’s-proper-place. Sometimes, I have to tell myself, “Self. Enough! It’s not that serious!” Which makes my lateness tendency all the more annoying to me. I like things in order…once I get there, of course.
I told one of my girlfriends what he said. Her response was, “just go in separate cars.” I think this is what she and her husband does…she’s the late one. I disagreed and said that I look forward to his strength helping me improve. I felt horrible! My tardiness effected him. This wasn’t a pleasure trip. It was company paid, related to his career. What if he had missed the flight because he was depending on me? I guess to change those personality flaws that we have become comfortable with, such experiences are necessary before we really attempt to improve.

Wow melo I don’t know where to start. So I’ll start at the beginning:
reading the bible what are your reasons (other than it being written by man) for not wanting to read the bible? Are you a reader? Some folks just don’t like to read at all. If you like to read but not the bible - it could be due to the translation you are using.
church hypocrisy yes, there’s a lot of it going on - but your relationship with God is based on you and God. One thing you have to remember is that all those folks in the church are human too. They sin daily just like you. So don’t let the actions of others interfere with your relationship. Do I go to church regularly? yes. But I also understand why a lot of folks don’t go. The key is not expecting church folk to be perfect and going for you - not for others.
basing your life on doing the right thing - that’s a good outlook to have. Which is why I don’t understand why you don’t like the bible - because essentially its guidance on life-living is doing the right thing. With the exception of fornication and perhaps giving to the church - the bible teaches the things you mentioned. And no, you don’t have to be dogmatic about religion to be a good person. There are a lot of atheists out there that are good people.
bible written by man yes, it was written by man, but inspired by God (that is what I believe). If you get past the literal sense of certain things you will find that the bible is relevant to today. For instance in giving it talks about bringing your harvest - well we don’t live in an agricultural society - so there’s no physical harvest to offer to God. But we do have a harvest in terms of our finances. But again, I think sex and money are the areas where ppl try to say the bible has lost its relevance. Personally, I believe that’s more because people want to make an excuse to do what they want than a true questioning of relevance.
sinning in private - preaching in public That’s a personal issue that I don’t deal with. Meaning, I truly get blessed by the message my pastor preaches on Sunday. I don’t live with him, but everything I see/hear about him seems to point to the fact that he’s walking the walk. I’m sure he sins because he is a man - but my ultimate teaching comes from God. I know that because I have a personal relationship with Him, that’s all that matters.
Finally, there’s a big difference between simply being a good person and being a Christian. If your goal is to be a good person then you are right, common sense and doing what’s right is all you need.
sorry for the long post folks, but you know I had to respond…

@Melo ..I like your honesty. I don’t intend to be preachy, but all believers have struggles. You admitted that you believe in God. Once you have declared him lord and savior over your life….just starting working on your relationship with him. Doing good during your life on earth is so important. Loving your family and friends is worth more than the type of car you drive. (IN MY OPINION). Ok, you don’t like to read the bible because you question its validity.
For centuries, man has tried to discredit the bible by researching who and when its scriptures where written. None has succeeded. How is it that words written centuries ago are still applicable to our lives today? Yes, many will argue that is not entirely true and I agree. There are scriptures that are outdated and may not seem relevant, but there is value to what was being said.
So many answers to our concerns lay in the pages of the bible. It is up to our willingness to seek them out and that is frustrating to many (even me at times). If you have a desire to grow spiritually, but do not enjoy reading the bible, then try another avenue to being feed (spiritually). Like watching programs on TV. Any way, for what its worth…that my two cents.
Shew..Officer Musirello isn’t around to issue me a ticket for the long post.

melo I wouldn’t start with Genesis. Proverbs is good for quick bits of instruction and wisdom. Romans is good when I’m dealing with my sin. Any of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) are good to read about Jesus’ life. For instruction on living in Christ - I look to Paul’s letters (Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, etc.) and when I want the hardcore, in your face truth - I read James. As abc stated The Message is a real good modern translation, but I personally prefer the NIV.
GA.Man dang! I thought we got away with it - I’ll pay the lady on my way out, LOL.

Hi, Staceye. Yes, I am from Brooklyn—Flatbush in the house. Haha. I try to tell people all the time, I am just blunt—not harsh or mean. It’s the way I was raised to be. I am in no way demure or shy so why act like it? Sometimes I think I just need a stong man who can handle it and can throw some back.

melo, ‘The Message’ is a contemporary translation of the Bible. I’d recommend study groups, religion is best experienced in a group (I’m not much of one to talk, but I’ve been looking for a church to attend). Start at the beginning or skip around; Genesis and Exodus are very interesting, but the 1st 4 books of the New Testament kind of cut to the chase, 4 different accounts of the same things (mostly). Proverbs rocks, as does Psalms and Song of Solomon. All of the letters from Paul lay it down plainly. Feed of the Word, brother!

Pliessorry for the late reply but you already know what I am probable about to say: I cannot speak for all NYC female—I can only speak for myself and the way I see it, If a man approaches me the right way, carries a meaningful convo and happens to be respectful, I will be the same. I don’t like thugs because I am NOT a hoodrat. When I get respect, I always give it back. When a man usually gets smacked down in BK it’s usually their approach or their lame game…

Tazzee Great Post for Melo!
Melo It’s great that you’re open, seeking, and being honest about where you are. I think everyone should question everything….and God is not intimated by our doubts. He knows that we have plenty of them and He loves to work with us on each and every one. I would suggest starting with the Four Gospels (Matthew,Mark, Luke, and John). It’s good to understand that now we’re under the law of grace and the most important thing is our relationship with Christ. I started with the Old Testament and I had (still do) work to understand that God doesn’t deal with us in that manner anymore. My first introduction, via the Old Testament, made me think He was a harsh God and that is farrrrrrrr from the truth.
I like the NIV Life Application Study Bible….it gives you background and notes to help with the interpretation.

I don’t like thugs because I am NOT a hoodrat. a thug is probably all you attract with your personality!
Staceye why do short men approach tall women? because it makes them feel good about themselves and boost their ego if they can actually pull you. you ever notice how a lot of short dudes have the biggest truck, the shortest temper, and loud as hell? they have to have/do something to bring attention to themselves because they feel inferior.

For Real disclaimer - Just my opinion… I think that each part of the Bible can stand on its own. Not a lot in there is consecutive because it was written at different times by different people. For me, it explains why preachers can teach one lesson one week and a different one the next week. What you need depends on where you are at the moment and what message is intended for you. Sometimes, when I feel like praising, I can hit up Psalms. When I need instruction, the Gospels or Paul’s letters, and so on. And my personal favorite verses that I have to read when I have questions about why things are the way that are in my life: Jeremiah 29:11 and Matthew 6:25-34 (also check Habakkuk 3:17-18 about praising through rough times).

SSSBlackMale I know that you didn’t ask, so I’ll request that the WLB provide me with a blog vest for the flying bullets, but it may be that you attract that kind of woman because it’s what you are putting out there. It’s the “mirror” concept. And I say that because this is your first day on the blog and we already know what you drive and that you are successful, but we don’t know WHO you are as a person. You have to be careful of the type of information you give women when you first meet them. Make sure that the convo about you stays on you as a person (what you like to do, your values), not what’s in your pocket or what you have. You may begin to find women who become interested in you solely based on who you are, not what you can offer materially.
If I’m wrong, no problem in telling me so. I have my vest on tight.

@ Jake, Metro Diner used to be City Cafe. i used to go there all the time then. they had the big cakes when you first walked in, and the portions of food they gave you were huge. one problem though…their health inspection score was lower than the ga SAT scores. i think thats why they changed the name of it. so if you see your strawberries moving you might want to get the hell on!j

Foots I respect your opinion but the bible is all about lineage or a timeline. That’s all Numbers is about. God is a generational God. Like one of my favorite passages says “A good man leaves an inheritance for his children and his children’s children.” That 3 generations from me, so there is continuation. I believe it’s that way so that we can learn from the mistake of the past and not repeat them. Also, if you don’t start at the beginning you don’t get a full understanding of what Jesus actually did for us bc God didn’t play with man before christ. One passage God struck down Aaron’s two sons bc they wanted to do more for God than what he instructed them to do.

For Real I agree that all of the bible is important and I’m really with you on the point of knowing how things were under the law vs. under grace. But when someone has difficulty reading the bible - the last place I send them is the old testament, because of all the geneology. But yes, the entire bible is important and it is my prayer that once a person starts to enjoy reading the bible they will take on the entire book.

Plies W. Chamberlain didn’t even do those numbers. He would have to be in a 10 member orgy every day and night of his life since age 10 to achieve that! LOL I think it would have fallen off by then from excessive use!

Whoops, I am late getting here today, barely had time to breathe, my boss is out of town tomorrow so everything is an emergency today. What do I change about myself, I am working on learning to say no. I have a habit of trying to make everyone happy at the expense of my sanity.
If I had to change one physical thing, I’d tighten my mid section.
