Winter Vacation

Thanks again to Wise Diva for covering me last week.

I went to Miami with one of my friends to get her birthday celebration kicked off. And it couldn’t have come at a better time because I just needed a break. We all do at one point or another.

So first night we get there of course we have to hit the club. We went to a place called Opium Garden which also happened to be featured in Airtran’s in flight magazine we read on our way down to Miami. The place gets an A+ for promotion because they had people out on Ocean and that’s what made us choose that place.

I call my girlfriend “The Face” because her face is just about guaranteed to get us in to any place. Some people had been standing in line for hours to get in. But we walked up to the ropes and “The Face” had us hand picked and we were in there in no time.

It was also homecoming weekend for my alma mater so I wasn’t expecting to run into any of those folks. But sure enough, I ran in to some alum and we had a good time. And Atlanta took over South Beach because there were Falcons fans everywhere.

So a fellow alum introduces me to one of her friends. He was really nice and we danced the night away. At the end he gave me a hug and we went our separate ways. “The Face” asked me why I didn’t ask for his number or why I didn’t give him mine. He lives in Miami so there really isn’t the potential for anything so I didn’t think it was worth it. We hung out, had a good night, end of story. I guess I’m just not the meet-someone-on-my-vacation kinda person. I tried with the Track Star but we just fell off. But I have had friends that have had luck with the guys they met on vacations. One of my girlfriends is practically engaged to the guy she met on her Jamaica vacation.

Have you ever met a love interest on a vacation? Have you or anyone else you know had success in turning a vacation fling in to a committed relationship? Before the winter blues sets in I know we could all use a break…so if you could go anywhere before 2005 was up, where would you go? Does anyone have vacation plans already?

Whats goin on Mia! I know Miami was off the chain. I grew up there Opium has been hot for a long time. Did you get to go to Crobar? I am actually going down there next month to see family for Christmas and i cant wait cause i havent been in 3 years. You really need to let me be your tour guide next time you go. If you just frequent the tourist sections (coconut grove, south beach) you get a whole different feel if i take u to my parts of the hood where there are some great soul/latin food. North Miami Beach is hot for that and the Jamaican food there is off the HOOK (beef patties and curry chicken).

MIA you got me wanting to go rite now!

thanks Miss Atl…..it was strange to me, as well….I mean we had chatted extensively over the net, but it was quite weird finally meeting in person, and then, the fact that she had never been to the states before…..

morning…

Almost everytime I go out of town, I make a new friend. I don’t know why, but I it’s always been easier for me to land numbers and make new friends far from ATL.

But the thing is I cannot hold a long distance relationship… don’t think its feasible especially when the two pple have different goals that might not merge anywhere in the near future(have tried didn’t work). So I always keep this friendships just close enough.

The quagmire for me now is, I met someone when I went to Orlando this summer and she seems like everything I ever wanted in a woman… she’s visited 3 or 4 times and I have visited her once since… the only 2 issues.. first is the distance… second… well the distance has to be addressed first before the second.

Morning All!

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone while on vacation - with the exception of that nice Kappa I met during my first and only Freaknik experience. He was from Nashville and knew one of the girls I came with. He was such a gentleman - which was refreshing considering the other guys I encountered that weekend. But nothing ever came of it.

I would love to just go to the beach one more time this year. Its not going to happen though.

Good Morning, all! TGIF!!!

Never met anyone on vacation. Never known anyone to have a success story either. Well, we thought Terry McMillan did, but oh well to that.

If I could go anywhere before 2005 was up, I’d go to Tuscany, Florence, and Siena,Italy. I’ve always wanted to go to Italy and France but I’d prefer Italy. These cities are so beautiful and I’d stay in a nice villa w/ the best bed and breakfast. I love Italian and would really be able to eat authentic Itlian food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and drink some of the best Sangria and/or wine all day. I’d visit the vineyards and lots of the medieval churches, museums, and art galleries. Unfortunately, Italy will have to wait until our honeymoon. But, it was nice to think about it for a moment.

Sup folks!

I met a and hit it off with a chick I met in Houston. We visited each other a few times but the distance became an issue for her that we could not overcome.

The distance wasn’t a problem for me but whenever she had a tough day, my absence made it even more of a problem.

Hey, ATL!!!

I’m a sucker for accents, as well. A man with an accent is such a turn on. I think almost all of my men have been foreign. Crazy, huh??!

Vacation plans…I’m going to Cali to visit my in-laws after Thanksgiving.

If I could go anywhere before 2005 ends it would have to be South Africa. (Woulda been the Seychelles but uh I can’t be dealing with Pirates shooting at me).

I would love to spend my December in Cape Town and Sun City… visiting the vineyards, Cape Point, Table Mt. and going on safari.
I plan to go to S.A. sometime next year, if Delta doesn’t flip out on the FF program.

Sup Ivy!

Something bout those foreign accents.

U can just be talking with a chick with a foreign accent then next thing u know ur nekkid. LOL

‘Cept those German accents. A broad sounding like she gone spit on me when talking doesn’t do it for me.

Never had a long distance relationship but I may be doing that in the very near future. Eyecandy is thinking about accepting a job out of state but not yet definite. We’ve discussed if we would continue the ‘lationship if that happens. I’m not interested in the long distance thing BUT I really like him… We keep teasing each other that we’re breaking up at the end of the year. I will be sooo heartbroken if he leaves :(

Where’s everyone at???

Hey everybody, first time and I’m a bit out of sorts. it’s like walking in a dinner party an hour late and everyone has already been aquainted and your the odd one out. Anyways, I met my honey while traveling through costa rica. he’s colombian and when we met it was instant and unabashed romance and connection. Anyways, we lived in CR for 2 years together and then I had to come back to the states and it’s fallen apart since. Long distance isn’t just hard, it shatters the continuity of knowing someone on a deeper, personal level. So, no…I don’t think it works.

@1uniqsol-sorry to hear bout that! I hear of people having successful long distance relationships all the time but I think it just takes certain type of people for that to work. I know it wouldn’t be for me. Welcome to the blog

Shall we try again? got a very weird message just now. Wow, slow day and Boss tied me up for hours.

Good Afternoon ALL,

Learned last week I, for the first time in about 9 years, since I left a university job, get the full week off between Christmas and NewYears, so wondering what to do, what to do. Might be a good time for a Wilmington to Jacksonville coastal trip.

On topic, never met a special person while out of town on vacation, but came close, at least in my own mind. LOL There was this travel writer I shared a cab from the airport with once, but we were staying in different hotels. have sometimes wondered where she might be now.
