Love and Football
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Fall is my favorite time of year. Not only does it mean a break from the heat, but it means a great season for sports fans. I admit that I used to dread this time of year when I was dating a die hard football fan because I knew that our quality time was about to be pre-empted by the game.
Let’s face it, ultimately, women who date or marry a sports fanatic are left with two options: shut up and leave him alone, or join in the fun too. I opted for the latter years ago and I am glad that I did.
After speaking with a few guy friends, I realized that although men say they like it when ladies are really into a sport (participant or spectator) that doesn’t necessarily mean it is something they would want to share with their romantic interest. One guy said that some men feel intimidated by it. Then there is the type of man that prefers to have sports be his thing. Something they do with the guys or alone. I have even heard a husband complain when his wife tries to impose on his plans to watch or participate in sports. He begrudgingly takes her to sporting events because he says she asks silly questions, is often the reason why he is late, and she complains the entire time. He would rather that she take the time to do something else while he is focusing on the game. She is adamant about sharing sports with him though, so she insists that she join in.
Perhaps if she learned more about the game and started to have a genuine interest in it, he would be more inclined to share it with her. There is a new book that could help her too. It’s called, “Get Your Own Damn Beer, I’m Watching The Game! A Woman’s Guide to Loving Pro Football, co-written by Holly Robinson Peete. Robinson-Peete is an actress, mother, businesswoman, and the wife of a former NFL quarterback, Rodney Peete. The book is a fun way to learn about football if you aren’t already a fan.
I know all men aren’t alike but generally speaking, what do guys really think of women who are sports fanatics? I used to downplay it at times because I was unsure of how men would react.
For all the ladies who love sports, do you “advertise” your love for the game? If you are married or in a relationship, do you share sports as a common interest?

Good Morning When I was married I was the one watching the games by myself or with my boys…the ex isnt really into sports. He would watch them for the comraderie(sp) with his buddies but that wasnt something we shared together. Now ex-boyfriends were always athletes(got a thang for ‘em) and they always appreciated my love for sports. Have to be honest and say my least favorite is basketball….sorry

Hello everyone, I love Football just as much as I love Ruffle Potato Chips w/french onion dip! I’ve often wondered how hard is it for a guy to put up with his girl during football season, especially when she’s nagging him a lot. Have a great day everyone i’m off to lurkland. MsWiseDiva you’ve really proved yourself worthy of your blog name with these great topics you’ve been giving us, keep it up!

Good morning. Great topic WD.
I know little about sports, but love to go to games and other social events involving sports (imagine that). I really want to learn more about football now that I live in a town with a pro team. I’m definitely going to check out that book.

Good Morning Fam!!… Like the topic Diva. I don’t advertise that I like sports but if we just happen to be channel surfing and we come across a game I’m like, turn back. That’s my opportunity to let him in on the scoop. lol I have found that if I don’t ask a lot of questions, I’m good. One thing the kids dad did was get me hooked on BBall. He was a fanatic, and ofcourse now I have another fanatic in the house, with her lil cute self. lol I watched football with my dad so that was a no brainer. N E way, just poppin in givin my .02.

I am not a lover of sports, but I have no problem with my SO watching the game all darn day if he chooses. I am not the type of female that has a huge honey do list right at kick off or anything like that. My motto:
You watch I shop!
We end up doing something we both enjoy that the other does not care for and everyone ends up happy

Hey Peoples…Morning Angels ;)
ummm I ain’t even gonna lie…I am NOT watching sports unless it’s tennis. Call me lame, but whateva. I will hook the boys up with some good eats and a cold beverage. But that’s bout it, don’t ask me to sit and watch cause I’m the chick that notices the hot bodies and nice tight…..well umm yall know what I mean. And I will ask a million questions cause I knows nuthing about sports.
When I am invited out to a game, I only like to go and eat, and usually take something with me to keep me busy while the boring game is going on.
I was football manager the entire time I was in high school and never learned one dang thing about footbal…just like hanging with the fellas.

The deal is that if you haven’t played football, such as in high school or college, you can’t possibly really understand it. That goes for guys too. I think it’s completely silly to see some fat flabby dude who’s never played a game in his life get all riled up over football! If you’ve never been on the field and under the lights, you can’t possibly even know what the game is about (you have to hit and be hit to get it), much less understand strategies.
That said, I stopped watching the pros when they went on strike in the ‘80’s. Same goes for baseball. The pros, they’re nothing like they used to be, and that’s too bad.

morning all!
I only advertise my love of sports during football season. That’s because football takes precedence during that time. Its funny, because I can tell someone the exact day of certain dates because I have the Falcons schedule ingrained in my brain. Was talking to my friend about her birthday October 24, and I said - thats a Monday right. She didn’t even know, but I knew because the Falcons play the Jets that night.
During the rest of the year I’m not that bad though.
I don’t think most men want their woman to be very knowledgeable about sports either. I may be wrong though - but I think some of them have a problem with it like they have a problem with a woman making more money. For the most part - I think its because they want to have their own thing.
But if I were dating a sports fan - I wouldn’t try to infringe on his thing. He could go to the game with his buddies, I could go with my girls and then we can cuddle and discuss the games later while watching Primetime, SportsCenter, or Inside the NFL.
man, that would be a great relationship

Good Morning Everyone.
I don’t really care for sports. I only attend sports events that my sons are competeing in (Soccer and Karate), other than that I have no interest. My S/O loves football & Bball. He and my oldest son can sit and watch all day. I enjoy the time alone while they are being entertained by the television.

Tray..GO BIG ORANGE!!! Fortunately my wife (a GA native) graduated from UT and is jsut as big a fan as I am. Nothing beats a warm fall afternoon in Neyland Stadium with 100K + screaming idiots watching football and looking at the Smokies. I religiously follow UT and the Falcons. I will watch whatever is on, but (other than those two teams) do not force my family to skew their schedule for anything else. Until playoffs anyway. Football is fall, High School, College, Pros, Youth leagues, it’s all good. It’s just as much a harbinger of the season as the leaves turning. I LOVE IT!!!!

2 I’m not saying it has to do with the questions - but I see how guys act at the games, drinking, trying to flirt with the cheerleaders - just doing guy stuff and I just think that guys want to share that with their guy friends.
Or it could just be that I prefer to watch the game with my girlfriends - we have a nice balance of commenting on how nice Justin Griffith’s behind is and great Patrick Kerney’s sack was (Kerney is a cutie too)

On said topic…Fall is a sports lovers dream! All major sports are in action, not only do you have football, there is hockey, playoff baseball, basketball, college football and even a little tennis. I’m a sports fanatic because i watch all sports. Off topic, the outpouring of support from Atlanta for those affected by the disaster is really heart warming. Let’s help those in need if you can.

Personally I think sports appeals to the competitor in all people. For many of us, the teams that we root for are like extensions of us. Football is a great team sport. 11 dudes working together to accomplish one goal….WIN!!!
How many times have you said or heard someone say What are you doing to the T.V. or at an event? How can you not like sports?

On sports and games…. I not only like watching them on TV but I like being active thru sports - soccer, tennis, golf, cycling. It would be a plus if my lady had some level interest in one or more of those. Competition (fun/challenges) within a relationship is healthy… I also believe knowing how to transfer your competitive spirit/strategies to your daily life can give you an advantage in moving forward and being successful
talking of sports… after spending a splending afternoon on the course, I really don’t feel like being in the office today!

Wise, this topic is right up my alley!! The movie Love & Basketball was me to a T.
Ever since my first few days on this earth, I was into sports. My mom said I literally had small bruises on my knees because I was scooting around in the bed at the hospital when I was born.
As a toddler..I would climb out of my crib or the bed and wonder around. As a kid..I would spend ALL my time outside riding bikes, organizing races, kickball, four square, etc. I wanted to be like Valerie Brisco Hooks and Carl Lewis and represent the US track team in the Olympics when I got older.
In middle school..I discovered bball and made the team without knowing ish. I was all about Magic and the Lakers! In high school..I lettered in basketball and volleyball and was voted Most Athletic my senior year. I was so proud that my peers voted for me to have that honor. In college..I played intramural bball and flag football. I now currently play any and everything!

Sports (watching or participating) can also tell you a lot about a person character! How one responds to loosing or winning (self or team) can directly relate to how one approaches arguments…. there those who like to win and are devastated when they/their team looses and can’t take less… my view is that they most likely don’t like to concede in an argument.

When I was first became hooked on sports, I use to think that a guy would get the wrong impression. I remember having a guy friend over and actually pretending I didn’t know what channel ESPN was on…(shaking my head)…ahhh I was young and dumb, LOL. Now, I could care less about what a man thinks, I heart football! LOL

Do I advertise my love for sports? I usually don’t have to because most people assume I play basketball or run track. It’s in the jeans. Oops, I meant genes…
It was a necessity for me to have a man that loves sports because it’s such a big part of my life. I wanted someone who shared my passion for a fit and healthy lifestyle. My man and I are a great team - we go to the gym together, play sports together, watch sports together, watch PTI, ESPN Classic, and Sports Center together.
If not sports, it’s great for couples to share a common interest that they both enjoy doing together. I think it strengthens the bond between them.

Good Morning Wise Diva and Bloggers
Coming from a household where I was the only female (other than my grandmother and aunts), I had no other choice but to learn to love the games and that I do. I REALLY get into football and basketball. Most men are impressed because they think that I’m a bit “prissy”. I was probably the only cheerleader on my squad that actually knew what was going on and I was also more focused on the game than the crowd!! But hey, cheering was my way to get into the games FREE!! LOL!!

speaking of wrong impressions…why are women who play/love sports suspected of being less feminine than women who have no knowledge of/interest in sports?
just last week…i had a male friend tell me that he thought that i could be bi-sexual because of my love of sports, because i play a LOT of softball and tennis and because i don’t wear tons of makeup and tend to dress rather comfortably…
he actually said that he didn’t think of me as very girly…which, of course, points out the fact that he doesn’t know me very well…
*and i could go on, but it would take more thought and well, never mind….but y’all know…

Basketball, now that’s my ish right there. I’m a corn ball though ‘cause I love the Nets and the Mavericks of all teams. LOL I also love Tennis, Scoocer, Baseball (love, love, love the Yankees!) and Cricket (that’s kinda big up here with the West Indians, it’s hot though)I like to go the park and watch them play.

Sjea..Old attitues still exist that it’s not feminine to play sports. Of course there are lesbians who play sports but they are not the majority. And ignorant folks will assume that you are a lesbian because you play sports, look a certain way, dress a certain way, etc. I experience this ignorance constantly. I’ve had strangers bold enough to just walk up to me and ask “Are you gay” or “Do you like women”. Once I had on athletic gear and another I had on a dress and heels.
I think some men are intimidated and try to make you feel less of a woman so they can feel more like a man. I’ve learned after many years to be proud of my height and athletic build and those who may be intimidated is their personal problem not mine.

And to think I was actually not going to pull up the blog today.
I am a football fan, basketball fan, tennis fan and outdoor track fan. However Football is the only sport I have to watch all the games. I’ve played all of those sports except for football but I was in the marching band all thru HS. In my past relationship I actually turned him on to football, so it wasn’t an issue for us. But I think it is a problem for some men, when woman know more or just as much about the game than they do.

Good Afternoon ALL,
Never been into televised sports, generally. And rarely have dated someone who was a sports fanatic. Second ex hosted a couple SuperBowl parties, but that more for the social event and those muscalar jocks on TV, less to do with the actual SPORT. She, former cheerleader, did not watch football aside from that.
Makes it fun here since I have no plans on my Saturdays being spent glued to some Tide/Auburn thing…LOL..WGAF?

Wil-Son…so your argument for women and men not competing against each other is so the woman won’t crush a man’s punk azz ego?? If so, that’s really lame. I’ll be dayumed if I don’t play up to my capabilities to appease a man. If he loses, he needs to man up and get me the next time.
I love goood competition so I don’t want any “gimme” points. I like to win or lose fair and square. I hate when men try to go soft on me just because I’m a woman once they recognize that I’m serious and I can actually play.
At the gym my man and I go to, there are at least 2 or 3 women playing in the pickup games. And they are hanging with the fellas. All of them play on team or competitively on a regular basis. The men know this and they go at the women just as hard as the men.

@Fitchick Yes, you got it. If I play against a man and beat him I am the bigger man, if he beats me then he’s the bigger man, but we are men. Now if I play against a woman and she beats me, That makes me a little weak azz punk.

Hey blog familia :-)
WiseDiva You’re doing a great job with the blog….. but then again what else is to be expected :-)
Are you ready for some football is a phrase that is seriously music to my ears. College season starts tonight and preseason NFL is soon ending. This is seriously my favorite time of the year and I’m about as bad as the guys with making sure nothing interupts my football time.
I advertise my love for the game because it’s part of me. I’ve grown up w/football… my Mom and Dad watch it together and they were the ones that taught me the game. I don’t think women who love sports should hide that part of themselves… that’s you and you shouldn’t shirk who you are to make a man or anyone else for that matter feel more comfortable.

WilSon..the reality is that some women are better than some men at one or more sports. Just because a woman may be better at a “man’s” sport or a “man’s” job, does NOT make a man weak. But the fact that you’d only participate in sports that you are good at with a woman DOES make you a weak azz punk!

I hate it when tragic events like this happen. I mean its bad for all the people and the deaths n stuff but MWP thinks its up to OUR banking accounts to bring everyone back to the state they were at, some people even more so. Now mind you, I am the kind of person that will not give a dime to beggar on the street and she wants to give them $5, the shirt off MY back, and a meal.
So you can imagine the kinda things that go down in my house when stuff like this happens.
Her: Oh lord new orleans is all the way under water, what you gonna send?
me: Ima wait till the water recedes and see if people can move back in and then i might send something
her: well I just sent $500 and I challenged you to do the same

Since we’re bootlegging today, I have to share Micheal Moore’s column for today. It is the most relevant thing I have seen concerning Dumbya and the disaster response.
Friday, September 2nd, 2005
Dear Mr. Bush:
Any idea where all our helicopters are? It’s Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.
Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren’t there to begin with?
Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but it was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you didn’t want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don’t like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!
I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don’t let people criticize you for this — after all, the hurricane was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?
And don’t listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how you specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers’ budget for New Orleans this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if you hadn’t cut the money to fix those levees, there weren’t going to be any Army engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important construction job for them — BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!
On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster. Hey, I know you couldn’t stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some rubble and act like a commander in chief. Been there done that.
There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out. Respond to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making a storm like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming Chicken Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide it would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to Cleveland.
No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It’s not your fault that 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C’mon, they’re black! I mean, it’s not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don’t make me laugh! Race has nothing — NOTHING — to do with this!
You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.
Yours,
Michael Moore MMFlint@aol.com www.MichaelMoore.com
P.S. That annoying mother, Cindy Sheehan, is no longer at your ranch. She and dozens of other relatives of the Iraqi War dead are now driving across the country, stopping in many cities along the way. Maybe you can catch up with them before they get to DC on September 21st.

yeah heaven, and though I’m not a fan of his, he made so much sense, in that, our country spent umpteen million dollars on this pseudo “homeland security” mess, but when a real disaster hits, the response time was ridiculous….and then Bush gon’ say the results are unacceptable!!! WTF, you’re the commander in chief, moron, that means your performance was/is unacceptable!

I totally agree with you 2 when the 911 incident happened no one had to ask for any type of assistance, it just fell at there feet. I feel the same assistance should be available for the people who need it wherever they are. Bush is such a “special ed” person next time you see him on tv, look at his eyes he’s always looked strange to me. What is everyone doing for the weekend?
By divine1

Good Morning BLB - How is everyone doing this morning? What is everyone doing this weekend? An even better question - What is everyone doing in support of the relief funds set up for the Katrina victims?
I plan on getting up, getting out and doing something this entire weekend for the cause. My original plans - going to the club and shaking my old tail feathers - can’t dance when people are suffering. Now if they had a dance-a-thon in support of relief efforts I would be there spending money to be out on the dance floor to help our people. Life is too short for us to ignore the suffering that is going on and the outright disregard the government seems to be showing towards this tragedy. I am sick of hearing they are coming, I am sick of the news putting focus on the bad and not trying to do something to help out these obviously DESPERATE people. Now I’m not talking about the fools who were taking televisions and all the other non-essential items I saw them running out of the stores with, but the people who were getting food and water for their families — C’mon man think about what you would do if you were in that situation. They are in need of our help and need our prayers to keep them lifted up.

I am glad I aint the only one who finds it unbelievable and ridiculous that 5 days after the storm tens of thousands of pple are still stranded in the middle of nowhere!
5 freaking days later! You see, the whole world is watching and laughing… they not as sympathetic as they were when the tsumani hit Asia… because they expect this country to be able to expeditiously help its own citizens. And the honest truth is that we don’t need any international help with evacuation… rebuilding and helping after the fact - maybe. It’s only fair, since we go out and help all over the world. But we should be able to mobilize buses, cruise ships, whatever it takes to get pple out… Can you imagine how many pple a single cruise ship would be able to get out of NO in one trip?… all they have to figure out is how to get it to the shore and how to move guys a few mile to it!
If there was an expeditious and organized transfer of refugees to other cities…. looting wouldn’t be that big of a problem - there would be no one to loot.
It’s just sad to sit and read about a woman giving birth on a bridge by the help on pple who know nothing about birth… using a shoe string to tie the umblical cord. to hear that some hospital still got patients in them… what happen to prioritized evacuation… sick, old, children… huh!
end of rant!

loved the MM column today, Thanks for posting that IG.
Here is one thing that I find odd. Maybe even tragic irony. The very states that made sure bush was re-elected are the ones suffering the most right now. And the dude they put in office is not doing the best job he could be doing to help. This would be like Atlanta having a locusts swarm and Shirley frankling being too busy at her chill spot in Cobb to do order the bugs to get sprayed.
Damn shame. The other thing I wonder about is, are there ANY white people in New orleans? I have seen like 3 in all the news coverage. Surely there is a more even distribution of race in the city. So that leaves me with this: Is the wealth so unevenly dispersed that only blacks were left with no way out? Cause lets face it, We have all seen the propensity for white folks to ride out a storm in places like Florida and north/south carolina.
Lastly, dont get fooled people into believing that when gas prices finally “recover” from this disaster that the $2.40 a gallon we will be paying is a DEAL. I swear i remember in 1997 gas was .87 a gallon at the qt on candler road. Now the station has moved sides and gas is 3.39 because of the crisis and will be 2.50-2.65 after. WTF. Clearly something has got to change. So we need to remember these situations in 3 years when its time to vote in a new ‘leader’ and make sure we really do go vote and not just make t shirts, sing songs and have rallys about voting. In fact, maybe i should just save this post for November of 2007.

Let the rant continue! The Federal Govt. didn’t begin sufficiant work for hurricane Katrina until yesterday, sad to say…
If any of you guys are wanting to donate your time beyond contributions to the Red Cross: Adamsville Recreation Center in SW Atlanta could use your service. There are places all over the city that have outreach services and desperately need volunteers. Be a servant for God folks…
Victims of the disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast area need your help. Thousands of evacuees are now sheltered here in Atlanta. Many are housed at the Adamsville Recreation Center in Southwest Atlanta.
Volunteers are needed to assist our displaced brothers and sisters. Tasks include unloading and unpacking supplies, distributing supplies to shelter residents, and more.
If you can help, please call the Director of the Adamsville Recreation Center, Mrs. Clark, at 404-505-3181. Or you can call Major Lenwood “Robbie” Robinson at 678-517-5420. The Adamsville Recreation Center is located at 3201 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Atlanta.
Volunteers can come anytime during the day. However they are divided into shifts, 8am-12, 12pm-4 and 4-8pm To provide assistance in the evening, call to arrange.
Hope to see some of you guys there… For additional contributions the comfort Inn at 6 Flags have persons there in need of basic supplies. The Adamsville Center is fully stocked.
Be thankful that you’re blessed!

The matter of the disaster in New Orleans came up in a meeting that I was in on Wednesday and before the guy could get a full sentence out of his mouth, my boss shut him up. He said those people don’t need us to sit around and talk about how sad their situation is. He then reached in his jacket pocket and pulled out his check book. He wrote a very generous check to the RedCross and layed it on the table. He said this is what they need. They need funds. Everyone around the table pulled out our checkbooks and did the same. I don’t how that money will be distibuted but it was a starting point for all of us.

Volunteer Post:
Currently at the Comfort Inn on Fulton Industrial Blvd. are people who fled from Hurricane Katrina and ended up in GA at the Comfort Inn. They of course had to leave urgently and had just enough to get here. The Comfort Inn needs items mentioned below as they try to help those who have nothing. The needs are overwhelming and growing each hour. The contact at the hotel is: Susan Nation - Hotel Manager. Her number is: 404-505-8880, dial “0” and ask for her.
They need the following donations URGENTLY:
Food/meals (remember - Comfort Inns don’t have kitchens) Formula and Infant foods for babies Diapers & Sanitary items CLOTHING - infant, children, youth & adults [new underwear, used clothes, etc.] Medication refills - one lady has medication needs and GA Medicaid will not honor her Medicaid; this is being worked on now.
I’m sure other items are needed but this is all I got initially.

Sup folks!
Bush is a fuggin joke.
And all of you that even considered voting for Bush last fall should be bangin your heads against the wall.
‘I’ll pay less taxes under Bush’
‘I’m uncomfortable with changing president’s during a war’
‘Bush is defending the country’
‘I don’t know what Kerry would do as president’
Okay, yall’s boy is in office now and look what he is doing to YOUR ppl. It ain’t just black folks, it’s whites and others too. Common working class white tourists and residents stuck down there, with no one tryna get them out either.
This is the fool yall wanted in office. Someone that said that know one saw this coming. Any damn fool that has even heard of N.O. before knew its under sea level and that a direct or close to direct hit by a large Hurricane would destroy the city.
Bush claims they had no idea of knowing this could happen. Funny, the Clinton admin. knew and allocated over 100 + mil for it, that Bush and his boys cut to below $43 mil.
Even with our armed forces stretched thin in Iraq and Afghan, we still have a very strong national guard presence in the U.S.
Not to mention that the Prez has the power to order the local and state police of other jurisdictions throughout the U.S. to provide assistance/defense to any other city/state in the country and he can also cease commercial vessels for the use of the Federal govt. in times of crisis. Bush could have ordered Greyhound and any other transportation company in the U.S. to pick-up and transport victims with their buses.
He could have ordered Carnival and Royal Carribean to send ships to pick up, transport and/or house refugees.
He has all of this and much more at his disposal and yet he has done nothing but give excuses and now he’s holla’n how this is unacceptable, like he ain’t had ish to do with it. MFP!!

I’ve spoken with personnel at the following hotels and they are also in need of the same supplies, with an emphasis on baby items formula, papers and kid items. I know we can’t get to them all, but if you could donate some items to at least one of them I’m sure it would be greatly appreciated.
The AmeriSuites 2876 Spring Hill Pkwy Smyrna, GA 30080 (770) 3840060
MicroTel 5300 South Cobb Drive Smyrna, GA 30080 (404) 779-700
Donating to the Red Cross is a great 1st help, however it takes a while for the money to be distributed and in some cases those that need it the most, are the last to receive it. But please don’t stop donating

Cuz if u just selected like 25 or 30 players, u were not gonna get most of your players due to them being taken before your next pick in the draft came up.
Hit me up, I’ll give you all the assistance I can. Best thing for you to do is to start droppin those fools and pickin up some good players.
‘Puta stuck me with Jermain Wiggins at TE and I dont even think that dude starts for his team or get much PT. I dropped him and got Bubba Franks who was undrafted. I also got Ronald Curry, he went undrafted.

AW, ATL I join you in hoping people will remember this come 2008. What the hell was everyone thinking in 2004? I hear conspiracy theories (most with very credible evidence to back them up) that 911 had government complicity in it’s planning. Bush chases ghosts and tries to grasp vapors. And we as citizens are not blameless. Until we get out of this entitlement mindset and tighten our belts, things aren’t going to change. Someone earlier mentioned how amazing it was that we could get Tsunami relief funds and aid there in two days but we can’t get to NO in a week!? What’s wrong with this picture?! How damn long is “My Pet Goat” and is Dumbya going to get off his dead a* once he finishes reading it? Dwight Eisenhower warrned in the late 50s for the American public to beware primarily two things, the Indutrial Military machine and Oil men. How prophetic. I love my country and the beliefs it was founded on. It isn’t perfect, but until this administration, it wasn’t an unholy travesty. Sound off, don’t let anyone forget! No one but us is going to change it!

@ATL…all i can say to you dawg is…i got a letter from the goverment the other day i open and read it..it said they are sucka’s…lol….well said dawg. BTW Jermain Wiggins is one of Culpeppers favorite targets and with double teams likely on burleson..wiggins and williamson and the other cat will be able to get alot of graps because all the focus is on burleson…bad move…wiggins is going to be good for at least 6-8 catchs with 80+ yards and a touchdown a week and that is min…and if williamson is that fast watch out because the guy can flat out fly and i am looking for him to at least have a 12 touchdown season

yall know what is really crazy, no other country is really chomping at the bit to help out. and the ones that would have helped have most of their troops helping out in this moronic Iraq situation.
The fallacy of this administration from foreign policy to domestic and economic strategy is on full display. The car of america is being driven by a two footed driver with ADHD. not good times.

Good points about J.Wigg, I just ain’t sure he’s gonna have such a year. Is he even the starter for Minn this year?
I feel more comfortable with B. Franks.
I see you’ve been making some good moves with your squad. I can’t wait till we face off.

You know what else is sad? How the media is making it seem as though only ‘we’ are looting. I was reading an article and the writer state the young (black) man was wading through chest deep water after “looting” a grocery store. The next article showed a picture of a white couple wading through water after “finding” bread and water from a nearby convenience store. WTH

I’m not surprised at all that things are/have been going the way they are. I’ve seen Bush’s resume:
RESUME
GEORGE W. BUSH 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, DC 20520
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Law Enforcement: I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver’s license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been “lost” and is not available. Military: I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam. College: I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a cheerleader.
PAST WORK EXPERIENCE: I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business in Midland,Texas, in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn’t find any oil inTexas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. Ibought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry (including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America. I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money. I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American history. With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida, and my father’s appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President after losing by over 500,000 votes.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT: I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record. I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week. I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury. I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history. I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period. I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period. I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the U.S. stock market. In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs and that trend continues every month. I’m proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history. My “poorest millionaire,” Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her. I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips by a U.S. President. I am the all-time U.S. and world record-holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations. My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends, Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in U.S. History, Enron. My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure my success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election decision. I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation or prosecution. More time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate rip- offs in history. I presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed. I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history. I changed the U.S. policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts. I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than any President in U.S. history. I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in the history of the United States government. I’ve broken more international treaties than any President in U.S. history. I am the first President in U.S. history to have the United Nations remove the U.S. from the Human Rights Commission. I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law. I refused to allow inspector’s access to U.S. “prisoners of war” detainees and thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva Convention. I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 U.S. election). I set the record for fewest numbers of press conferences of any President since the advent of television. I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year period. After taking off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst security failure in U.S. history. I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most hated country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history. I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people), shattering the record for protests against any person in the history of mankind. I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked, pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so against the will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. citizens, and the world community. I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in duty benefits for active duty troops and their families-in wartime. In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking Iraq and then blamed the lies on our British friends. I am the first President in history to have a majority of Europeans (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security. I am supporting development of a nuclear “Tactical Bunker Buster,” a WMD. I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden [sic] to justice.
RECORDS AND REFERENCES: All records of my tenure as governor of Texas are now in my father’s library, sealed and unavailable for public view. All records of SEC investigations into my insider trading and my bankrupt companies are sealedin secrecy and unavailable for public view. All records or minutes from meetings that I, or my Vice-President, attended regarding public energypolicy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public review.
I’m not surprised at all about his response, I was surprised however that 51% of OUR country backed this guy!

@BI - I could not believe those articles. Can someone tell me how you can be classified as a refugee in your own country? I’m still trying to figure that one out.
Merriam Webster’s definition for refugee- one that flees; especially : a person who flees to a foreign country or power to escape danger or persecution - ref·u·gee·ism /-“i-z&m/ noun
American Heritage Dictionary definition for refugee -
One who flees in search of refuge, as in times of war, political oppression, or religious persecution. French refugie, from past participle of refugier, to take refuge,…
I’m still trying to find how these definition apply to the victims/survivors of this natural disaster.

Hey D1 XOX You are a “refugee” rather than an “evacuee” when you don’t have any place to go back to. You seek “refuge” rather than to leave with any reason for coming back.

Divine - What else would they be classified as? Refugees flee their home/territory to seek refuge in another.
This is what these folks are forced to do. A refuge isn’t limited to fleeing a country, it’s fleeing from your home. Hell if an abused woman camped in your house to escape a beatdown from her hubby in her own home and nobody could prevent it taken place in her home, then she would be a refugee.
Don’t get lost in the technical definition as listed in a book.

No, I understand what a refuge is, but I have never heard the term refugee used in terms of dealing with people displaced from their homes in their own homeland.
The survivors are asking the reporters not to refer to them as refugees.

Divine - I guess they have their pride and don’t wanna be called that. But they are refugees if they are depending on others for their own well being and can’t go back to their own home. Whether they like it or not, they’re refugees.
They used the same term for ppl in the Asian countries affected by the Tsunami. They were refugees in their homelands also.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend and if you have time that you can donate to some of the people who are here in one of the shelters please do — sometimes just knowing someone cares enough to give their time is enough to keep someone going another day.
