Good Morning Mia and Bloggers

Good Luck Mia on your promotion. I am happy for you and I wish you all the best. Reading this blog for the time that I did, I could see how hard it probably was trying to come up with a different topic to keep people coming back. It seems that lately there was a lot of Mia bashing and I think that was mainly due to the fact that people was taking it too serious. You have a job outside of this blog and it seems that some did not realize that. Even when anonymous bloggers would chime in with a question or off the wall comments and try to deter the conversation, there were those that insisted on criticizing you. You even said some of the topics were from something you read or a suggested topic from someone else. But all fingers would always point back to you. I am not saying that is why you have decided to step back and let someone else do it, but if it is I don’t blame.

You have your whole life ahead of you and that’s where you need to focus your attention right now, on you. Like I said, Good luck, I wish you the best and as the blog say it “Do You�.

And Wise Diva, Good luck and I hope you do good.

KOBK - Your point well taken, but it wasn’t just bloggers who digressed here. Some of Mia’s own discussions were rife with venom and retaliation against her ex’s and bloggers who disagreed with her. Some days she was just downright defensive, and I believe those blogs days to have been the tackiest. She’s admitted it herself, that it’s often challenging to think of good topics. That’s understandable, some of her responsive however, were not. I hope that as Wise Diva moves forward with this blog, she and/or the AJC will establish and adhere to some strict standards about where the convo is allowed to go. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know the hue of the majority of us bloggers here. Regardless of who’s leading the blog, let’s not be tacky! Best wishes in your new role MIA, and most of all best wishes on dating in the ATL. As you step away from the daily focus on your “misadventures” in dating, you may just find a fulfilling adventure in dating - and true love - that will take you well beyond a blogging topic. Peace!

and umm I ain’t gonna lie, reading up on yesterday, I was rethinking this labor of love. I had drafted an email to say aww hell to tha naw (Whitney Houston, 2005).

After reading about the blessing that a blogger received from other generous bloggers, I realized it is worth it to keep the blog going. However, I will not be subjected to unnecessary hell. Please believe that anybody that steps to me wrong will be dealt with.

I didn’t think the hue of the blogger mattered or matters, and I hope the AJC doesn’t take into account the hue of the majority, nor should this blog be about the hue of the person blogging. jRock - get yo head out da sand, playa. Oh, it matters! Don’t you go thinkin’ for one minute that “they” don’t come up in here to see what “we” got on our minds. And the more I come up in these blogs and read some of the petty stuff, it confirms why a bunch of “them” don’t think so much of “us.”

I wish I could stand with you as you oversimplify the hue thing, but I can’t. It matters a whole bunch. You see, a lot of us are content to just blog and chat in virtual places that offer a homogenous landscape. That’s fine on the surface. But every once in a while, step outside your box and check out the blogs of other people, other groups, etc. Sure, it’s easy to say “I don’t care what they think” or “I don’t care what other people say,” but if you wanna be well-rounded, it helps sometimes to at least be informed about what else is out there.

I have had a field day reading forums and blogs about “us.” The sad part is when you read the ugly stuff and IT’S TRUE.

In life, you gotta pay attention, Bruh!

Chavanda, when I read, dang do I use “ya’ll, you people, what” in contrast to your “us”?? Anyways on this blog, it’s usually black folks talking about black folks and how it’s a shame we can’t get along on this blog, where is the love, etc etc.. If someone has a problem with what somebody blogs about or comments, why should that other person say “dayum here we go again beating each other up”, instead commenting specifically to that person? That was my only point, why should we bring “hugh” in it.. Why do we always have to give him props like that?

Ghost - you ain’t nevah lied. Notice my first post says, “… the hue of the majority of us bloggers here.”

That’s precisely why I qualified that statement with “majority.” Sho you right. I’d bet my last dollar that there’s a number of “them” that join in the conversation. I’ve seen it time and time again in blogs and forums. I’ve done it myself - posed as one of “them.” I don’t believe it’s necessarily a bad thing, if you’re trying to accomplish something. I don’t do it just for the heck of it.

That’s the beauty of the virtual world - ANONYMITY!

Bobby kris aint gonna need therapy for anything other than her eatind disorder. She got normal parents. Her daddy a lil roguish and rough around the edges and so is her momma. But she will know what a LOVING relationship looks like. There is no doubt, unless all this is an act, and I dont think you can fake pulling poop outta someones azz, that whitney n bobby love each other. Bobby Kris will have that on her side. Plus she will be rich, i gives not a damn what yall say, neither one of them has had a hit in at least 5 years, more like 12 for bobby and they still living the plush life. They got good people who manage they money, she gonna be alright.

Chavanda, I personally know a couple of random bloggers that are of a lighter hue that post every now and then. But we say it like the white guy on ‘Barbershop’, It’s not the color of your skin, it’s who you are on the inside. So that’s why no one here will ever know the difference because we too like to talk straight and tell it like it is sometimes. I was listening to Tavis Smiley this morning and he was talking about John H Johnson’s daughter and generational wealth and how more of US should be thinking along those lines in addition to reaching out to the community. Kind of that each one teach one mentality I guess.

Yeah, Carrington, I’ve never even enjoyed Whitney’s singing, she’s consistently out of tune. Usually the harder she pushes the sharper she gets. All the rest of that, I don’t mind saying that I avoid reality TV, haven’t seen it. I prefer instrumental anyway though, there are few singers that I like to listen to.

Icey, take it a step further…look at all these “new millionaires” we’ve generated as a result of HIP-HOP; but what do they do with their money (which, of course is their prerogative), they put it in material things, as opposed to things that will generate more loot; I’ve always said we have the ability to change the world…but we don’t care about anything but ourselves…we feel that once we’ve made it, we don’t have to look out for our fellow man; As Clarence “tap-dancin” Thomas said, we have to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps; in a sense, yeah, but when you know you had help gettin to where you are, how you gon turn your nose up to those who have helped you…it disgusts me to read about those of us who have made it, livin large and what not, but when they talk about their parents, the media says they live in a “modest” home, or sum’in crazy like that…..how can you be ballin while yo mama still livin in the same crib she raised you in?

Congrats Mia and Diva! I wish you both much success in your new endeavors.

In light of yesterday’s conversation, it seems the blog has spoken and the consensus is that my delivery is preachy, harsh, condescending, high minded, (insert adjective of your choice). But your preception of me in Blogland is not reality in Realword. I actually prefer to lead by example as opposed to telling people (verbally or in writing) what I think they should/should not do. I am a giving and caring person and sometimes my “save the world” mentality gets the better of me (One of my favorite movie quotes…I can’t leave all the saving of the world to the men! Elastigirl).

Since I started posting, I never intended to paint an idyllic utopian picture of my life or my relationship. And I never intended to “bash” those of you who are single (or anyone else for that matter). Bashing or putting people down is not my MO. I’m severely allergic to drama and hate so I have no reason to intentionally impart negativity onto others. You never know what people are going through. I have been through (and still going through) my own bumps and bruises as well, which has helped me to appreciate someone who loves and accepts me as is even more.

This blog has been a refreshing escape from my corporate cubicle. I have solicited for advice, learned a few things, and met some interesting and fun people. I hope that I’ve at least made some good points that people can take away in their own dating adventures/relationships. I have no doubt that Ms. Diva will bring a fresh new persepctive to the blog. So like Mia, I will be taking a back seat and retreat to the eastside of Lurksville.

Clarification on previous post…When I say “lead by example” I DO NOT mean people should be like me or do as I do.

What I DID mean is…I want to be an example for people to take advantage of each and every opportunity that they’re given to succeed. And once you do become successful and prosper, create more opportunities for others to do the same.

Like Tavis said this week, my goal is to be a sponsor to deserving individuals and be able to “usher them into a room”.

First off, I want to congratulate Mia on her promotion. I’m sure you deserve it and that this is just another step towards bigger and brighter things for you. I want to let you know that this blog has kept me entertained this past year. At times, it has even brought me out of lurksville. So I want to thank you and thank the rest of the bloggers for sharing your insight and varying perspective on life and relationships. I’ve been able to apply some of it in my life and if nothing else, it has given me something interesting to talk about to others.

I have to say that it does feel kind of sad to see the end of something, even though I knew this day was coming. But I’m sure Wise Diva will keep things going and I look forward to seeing what she will be bringing to the table. Congratulations to you, Wise Diva.

Guys, this is getting to be a bit much..

I officially resigned from posting almost a month ago and I am still getting phone calls and e-mails about people posting my “full name” on this blog and still discussing me, as if I am still post on this blog.

For your info, I have been traveling extensively and working on a certification for almost a month,so to clear the air for good,TRUST ME, I have not been on this blog posting,let alone under any other names!

@Psycho, if you had researched any of the old blogs, you would know that I used to date a woman that worked in the same building /same company as I and she was actually helping me on a project, on the day in question and was blogging with me (I have references and witnesses!!) TRUST…Deception is not a part of my character!

You’re smart, you give good advice, and you make ma laugh my a$$ off which is greatly appreciated most days at work. I come to work and am immediately reminded of the quote “Never underestimate the destructive power of stupid people in large numbers.”

D1, MsK, Simone, MsAP, WD, Mia, PB, all the Divas, MissU, PIR, chavanda, BI, all the pcans, all the peaches, any of the ladies I missed, you all are the most charming group of intelligent, opinionated, funny (and I am sure beautiful to boot) women around. To know any of you is to be blessed. To know you all is to be blessed beyond measure.

If I bent anyone’s gender, I apologize. There’s an old Warren Zevon song called “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead”. Life is to short for p** little feuds, grudges are an unecessary heavy burden to be carried. Isn’t it nice to have a little retreat in the world thatis like the bar on Cheers only like a kajillion times better? Everybody knows your name, everybody loves each other. To Wise Diva, umm can I make a suggestion? I think some rules should be applied to the “new” blog. Just my observation, but as I stated yesterday, a few people have left and a few more are considering, so obviously there is a problem.

The other thing is that a few of the new bloggers made comments about not feeling welcomed and from what I see, I can see how they can feel hesitant about posting, for fear of retaliation!

The climate is cold here sometimes and I for one have always been confused as to how strangers can attack another stranger about a comment. I mean come on, this is entertainment and some people take it waaaaay tooo serious on here, just my observation.

What’s your thoughts?????

Wise Diva may not be annoymous but in some ways I still am…so I can’t tell you what my promotion is but just know if it wasn’t a step in the right direction I wouldn’t have taken it. I’m sacrificing some things personally for my career but at 25, no husband (or boyfriend) and no kids…I can do that.

And did you see? Wise Diva is in color…lol.

Well it looks like the commissioner had to step in and try to settle this Hawks debacle. I don’t like the Hawks, but I really don’t like them making ATL look so stupid. We’ll see what happens next.

Pisces-many times are guilty of taking a “I know it all and nobody knows better than me” approach. I think most Pisceans are great at debates whether right or wrong and Pisceans truly can believe, without actually knowing,that they are right.

Also, it seems to me that Ms.Ap likes to take a side that will gain her the most fans or the most popular fans. In this case the men who on this blog seem to be really popular probably because there are fewer of them or something…

Now since Ms.Ap has been called out for her random, inconsiderate spewing, her little feelings got hurt because Pisceans are so sensitive by nature…she wants to retreat to what’s comfortable…dreamland perhaps?

I could go on and on but won’t. I was just able to come home and log on for a few minutes…

Ms.Ap you are alright with me sometimes but lately your rants and raves have gotten on even my nerves!!! LOL!!!

@Blue-I know I’m totally late with this response but Grand Cayman was absolutely beautiful!!! The ocean was sooo clear and the beach was super clean. But you were right, it was very expensive. The only bad thing was you couldn’t find any crab legs to eat.

KOBK - you acting like I won’t miss the blog. For the past year and a half y’all have been apart of my life…things would happen and I would say to myself “wait until I tell the blog this,” or “they aren’t going to believe that.” I’ll admit that some of what I shared out of just and for conversation has been thrown in my face but that’s the risk I took on in taking the blog.

I’ll miss blogging every day but my new role will just not allow me to continue this on a daily basis. Wise Diva stepping in was the best solution I could think of without completly shutting the blog down.

So I will miss y’all…bloggers and lurkers…but I can’t say I’m not a bit relieved…the burden of this blog now falls to me and my play cousin. And I know the blog is in good hands with Wise Diva.

@Blue- you could see alot of construction going on….mainly with the hotels along the beaches. The roads weren’t too bad though. The island was still very beautiful…I want to go back!!! maybe on my next honeymoon..lol.
