What will 2009 hold for you?

We are at the beginning of 2009 and the good news is that if you’re reading this you’re still with us. The bad news is your 401K may very well be on life support.

Resolutions New Year’s resolutions, also called “Things I Wouldn’t Bet On” are sometimes set up to fail. Don’t use it for a vent about what you didn’t accomplish of last year’s resolution list but rather be practical. Instead of saying “I’m going to lose forty pounds in two weeks,” try saying “I’m going to lose two pounds in forty weeks.”

Attainable? I think so. My buddy Franco who’s a retired hippie is a true child of the sixties. He went to Woodstock and Atlanta International Pop Festival (1970) where he saw Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, Allman Brothers, Johnny Winter, Captain Beefheart (remember him?) and according to Franco, Jesus a few times. He has the short-term memory of stapler.
He says has the same resolutions each year because they’re easy to keep up with.

They are: Meet Ravi Shankar and buy him a drink. Meet David Allen Coe and buy him a drink. Meet Hank Williams Jr. and buy him a drink. Meet Rusty Van Borston and buy him a drink. (I don’t know who he is either.)
I asked him if he ever actually accomplishes them. He said he’s accomplished about half of them. He didn’t actually get to meet them but he did have the drinks.

Whatever works?

The fact is resolutions should maybe put you in the ballpark of where you want to go and should probably go along with the times. For instance, maybe make a resolution to cut back on the hours at your third job you’re trying to keep so you can get some money back into your crippled 401K or like me, instead of getting depressed about looking older every time I look in the mirror, I vow not to look in the mirror so much.

Happy new year all !

I’ve decided to feng shui my life a little every month. A couple of months ago I did my family room and it quickly became everyone’s favorite room in the house. Yesterday I bought a tall healthy tree and planted it in a ceramic pot in the far left corner of my house. Even if it doesn’t make me rich - it’s looks great!

I’ll consider it a productive year if I can just get the teenagers to close the cabinets after they’re done.

I feng shui’d my bathroom. Now everytime I take a leak, my whole life goes out of balance. So I’ve started to bring my ficus plant in there with me to balance it out. I notice the ficus needs watering and well, lets just say that if my wife catches me feng shui’ing the ficus like that again…….

cindy it’s the same friggin’ article and it quotes alias/analchord/blog in it. If this blog can’t see through this jerk and quotes him in the paper which only encourages him, well good luck cindy. this blog deserves what it gets. I’m sick of this troll I’m outta here.

By Ron

January 3, 2009 8:06 PM | Link to this

Tis true Ms. Cindy. They actually printed a quote from the BLOGFATHER OF SCROLL which anyone who reads this post knows is POFO/ALIAS/ANALCHORUS. These idiots at the ajc either don’t read LT’s blog or don’t care. He’ll never shut up now. I’m gone too. What a bunch of idiots at the ajc., makes you wonder if he doesn’t work there.

By Cindy

January 3, 2009 10:37 PM | Link to this

Dang. Now everybody’s angry again. I thought maybe they’d quoted some of the trolling bullcrap but couldn’t intelligently discuss it until I read the article. But now that you’ve told me what it was, I can see why it makes you mad.

Problem is, if we just give up and leave, only the trolls will remain. How productive is that? I can tell you this. I got sick of it and left for a few months. Barely ever checked this blog and when I did, just got more and more p** off.

Know what happened as a result? It was hardly noticed that I was gone, HOWEVER the same trolling creep came over and did the very same non-sense on the other blogs I frequent, ruining them too.

So we can all just throw our hands up and leave the blogs or we can take them back and keep them productive.

I’m here now. That speaks volumes about my vote. How about ya’ll? I know it’s very frustrating and discouraging to see that kind of crap commemorated in print.

But let’s don’t let the idiots win. What do you say?

If you find a post offensive, use the link in the left column to request that it be removed. I thought the comment quoted was funny, too. Although the guy can be irritating and long-winded at times, it only takes a couple of lines, at most, to figure out who he is. No one is forcing anyone to read his stuff…skip over it and refrain from commenting about it. Who knows, maybe he’ll lose interest? Anyway, he has the same right as you to express an opinion.

I’ve been hearing murmurings for about five years now, but ignored it all till last night, when I watched the Nostradomus Marathon about 2012.

There are more predictive catastrophes in a Falcon game plan than in any of Nostradomus’s quatrains about 2012.

My new year’s resolution is to lose weight this year. I’m 12 pounds over my ideal weight.

I looked online and there are several diets that actually sound appetizing. I like the atkins diet, but I’ve heard that long term, there are problems. Doesnt anyone here have any experience with the atlkins diet?

Way to go Regina !

Thank you Stone.

Cassie - I have a huge bull skull. I used to live next to a 300 acre cow pasture and my dogs drug it home one day. Fortunately the buzzards had already picked it clean and it was sun parched. I put it in my rock garden next to the concrete one I had purchased the year before. I also have a concrete planter that looks like Jimmy Carter’s head with the top hollowed out. I planted some spikey green plant in it. He looks like he’s sporting “liberty spikes”.

Did you get anything edible?

Stone - One of the bars I was working in in the 70’s was afflicted with that saying. One person would say “I want a margarita” and someone else replied “that’s what she said last night” or “I want something to eat” or ” I don’t eat meat” and someone would pop off with “that’s what she said last night”. Every other comment was followed by “That’s what she said last night”

It drove me almost as crazy as the ” Where’s the beef? ” thing. (That one inspired me to threaten to shoot some of my customers)

I think law and order and conservatism are alive and well! Kudos and props to the 4-year-old who became 2009’s first assault-with-a-deadly-weapon perp when he shot his obnoxious baby sitter.

So much for the Nanny State, eh?

Good job. America’s gonna be alright.

His name was John Henderson. He was a 27 year old man, loved by his friends, appreciated for the job he did, before four robbers shot him dead for no reason last night. Once again, as with three other similar robberies, the AJC has chosen not to reveal the race of the suspects. This seems to be company policy at the AJC and I just don’t get it. Time after time discriptions of suspects, their clothes, hair style, approximate age are provided yet no race is given. Who is the AJC protecting? Certainly not poor John Henderson.

By Cassie

January 7, 2009 3:45 PM | Link to this

Stone -

I saw that too, and took a wild guess as to the racial origins of the perps.

Why can’t we just say “four black men”? Why don’t they ever say that on the news instead of “suspect was seen leaving on a ford focus?”

Well, shoot…except if you are fleeing the scene of a crime in a Ford Focus, we all know you are white. And you probably wear glasses. And tighty whities. And your name is Bob. And you floss twice a day.

But the robbery at Cumberland Mall? What were they in, a 88 Bonneville?

Hello???? Who needs racial profiling when you can do it by wheels?

By Stone

January 7, 2009 5:03 PM | Link to this

I don’t care what color the perps were, hey maybe they were a bunch of Irish chaps, I just want the ajc to print the facts and let us make up our own minds. I get the feeling that there is selective reporting at the ajc and feel embarrassed that this city’s only newspaper is outreported by that rag Creative Loafing when it comes to reporting on crime. I guess I’ll have to wait for the next CL additon to find out the color of these guys. Who knows they might be Chinese. LOL!! Hey LT, what’s your view on this or do you just offer up fluff and funny stories?

By Cassie

January 7, 2009 5:15 PM | Link to this

Online CL already says, actually, and has a bit better coverage, including coverage of tomorrow’s planned memorial….and you know, for some unfathomable reason this paper appears to still love our mayor…and I’m not sure why…..

By Stone

January 7, 2009 6:30 PM | Link to this

We could blame the crime on the perp’s race, but that would be wrong. We could balme the crime on rasicm, but that would be wrong. It’s the culture that glorifies this thug life that is responsible. How many more bodies of our young do we scrape off the ground before we say enough?

Free speech is what you idiots think is right. Say an Obama/Curious George cartoon is no less “offensive” than a Bush/Curious George cartoon, and one is labeled a racist by you butt stupid hypocrites. Given YOUR dumb assed definition, I will proudly wear your hypocritical definition of the word. I will always speak true and NEVER be a hypocrite.

If you want a blog where you can spout your hypocritical crap with impunity, then pony up the cash and start one. Then you can ban any (like Hitler did) that oppose you twisted way of thinking. I fart in your general direction. I am actually proud that my thinking a picture of Obama as Curious George is no less offensive as a picture of President Bush as Curious George. If my lack of racial discrimination drives off ignorant a***** like Elbubba, then good. If it drives off any other racists, then good. ONE standard for ALL AMERICANS.

Is that a tough concept? Apparently for Stoned minds.

Does anyone know what the little racist is mad at? I don’t think the redneck’s lack of racial discrimination drove ElBubba and others off, but rather his abundance of racial discrimination that did. Notice that he doesn’t spew his racial hatred on this blog anymore because we all called him on it. If he’s so proud of his view why did he drop it when everyone turned on him? Stop the hate little man, stop calling blacks n****, stop referring to yourself as a proud Ga redneck and then you might get the respect you are so desperate for, though I doubt it.

By Cassie

Just dropping in real quick..Honestly, and straight up I’m outraged and feel horrible for the dude who lost his life at the bar. I can tell you all what the color of the perps most likey were, they were Black. How do I know? I am a Black male myself and I pretty well know our tendencies and how we do things. White people, while they do commit unspeakable crimes, seldom in my life’s experience do not do so in the bold and in your face fashion that my people do. That’s just the truth people. It’s sad as hell that I have to hear every day about the horrendous crimes that young Black males (and even now females) are committing. And what’s worse.. they are doing it with intense MALICE. And what’s even worse, the majority of their victims look just like them (so much for the “white man” keeping us down huh?). Personally, I’m sick of it. Productive Black people have worked and continue to work hard to overcome the obstacles that have been placed in front of us as a people. And the cancer that is the (I’m going to say it..) N’s in our community do all that they can to destroy all gains made.

Why do you all think all these gun and pawn shops are being hit people?? They’re arming up to knock over everything they can to get “paid”. Atlanta has slowly become a cesspool of lawless brazen wild eyed animals that will slit your throat to rob you of the air you breathe. Honestly, I’m armed in these streets these days and encourage all law abiding citizens to do the same. Protect yourself, nobody else will. These animals out here don’t care about you, your family or your possesions. If they deem it to be their right to have they will do all they can to take it from you.

..And I really don’t care if any Black person gets on here and gets upset about my saying what I said. Save your “self hatred” diatribes to share in circles with other weak minded people such as yourself. I absolutely LOVE my people, so much that I refuse to stand by idly and cosign for madness done by and to it.. by anyone..including my own.

It’s like calling a gay man a f*. Sure, it’s funny (I mean, it really is…especially when you make funny voices) for me to say it because I’m a skinny little chick, and I’m more likely to say “You are SUCH a f*” to one of my friends (or hell, even co-workers) because it has come to mean one is so GAY, which still freaking means HAPPY!

It’s when you use a word like that in hate, anger or fear (ignorance too) that it becomes wrong.

Otherwise, darlings, it’s just another adjective….

I’s Open, I agree with you and I am Black. Everyone, when a crime is committed, the public should have detailed information on the criminal. He or she may be right around the corner from us. An all points bulletin should go out with race, height, weight, and any other information…
