Crime & punishment
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Notes from the Sandy Springs police blotter:
Robbery
The manager of the Radio Shack in the 6200 block of Roswell Road said a man came into the store and asked to buy two GPS units. When one of the employees returned to the counter with the units, the man pulled a black semi-auto pistol and demanded money. He was given an undetermined amount of money as well as three laptops. He left in a four-door light gold Toyota.
Burglary
The Mexi-Cali Grille in the 6000 block of Roswell Road reported a burglary. According to employees, the rear door was pried open. Missing items include a Margarita machine and two televisions.
5000 block of South Trimble Road 30342 12/17 A man who rents a garage apartment in the 5000 block of South Trimble Road. He was asleep about 1:20 a.m. when he heard noises. He got up and saw flashlight lights and then saw two men, who then fled from the apartment. The victim said they both wore dark clothing and possibly hoods. They got into a dark pickup truck and left. The victim turned out the lights and watched as the truck drove back to the location and parked at the end of the driveway. The two suspects got out of the truck. The victim flicked the interior lights and they again fled the area. These guys are either really stupid or knew what they wanted. The two suspects did drop some paperwork that provided a good lead for the detectives.
Thefts
A building contractor reported his tools were stolen from a storage area n the 1300 block of West Garmon Road.
A woman said she left her handbag in her desk on the 12th floor of an office building while she attended a meeting. When she got back she noticed the purse was gone. She called to cancel her credit card and was told the card had been used at Macy’s and the MARTA station. It does not take long to use those cards. If you are unfortunate enough to have your credit cards stolen, report them stolen as soon as possible to minimize the reward for the crook. They don’t waste time using the cards because they know it only takes a call to the 800 number for the card to cancel them.
A woman reported that while she was paying for her groceries at a food mart, she placed her Nokia phone on the counter. During that time someone snatched it up and left.
Assault
A painter said he was contracted to paint an apartment in the 200 block of Franklin Road. He said he knocked several times and got no answer. As he entered the apartment he said he was assaulted by a man who was angry for being awakened.
Arrests
A patrol officer, patrolling the area of the 300 block of Hammond Drive, found a man asleep in his car parked in an area where we’ve had previous thefts from cars. The cops checked the man out. According to the report it took five times, hitting on the window to awaken the man. Officers found that he apparently was near a hotel where his girlfriend was staying but retreated to the car to smoke some pot. He passed out before he could stash the pot. He was charged with possessing said pot.
At the Kroger Store on Sandy Springs Place, a man came in the store with empty grocery-store bags in his pockets. He filled the bags with groceries and beer and then left like he had checked out and had the items placed in bags for him. He was questioned by the store employees but ran when they determined he stole the groceries. Cops picked up the man on Cliftwood Drive. He had the items and a change of clothing stashed in the bags. He was arrested.

You know, reading these reports of robbery, burglary, assaults and thefts makes me realize that what the police are confronting every single day is a complete and total lack of respect for the law!

What amazes me is the sheer, base stupidity of many of these miscreants. Then again, I suppose if they possessed even lowest-common-denominator mental capabilities, they would have (and keep) jobs, obviating the need for said miscreance.

The Cops are underpaid, overworked, unappreciated and disrespected not only by the thugs they have to deal with but also by the advocates of the criminals. Take a lesson from Sheriff Joe Arpio in Arizona, get behind the Heros with some support. God knows they deserve it! I was prompted to write this after seeing an ad in this paper by an attorney shopping for thieves murderers and the like to get them off. I can’t believe it.

I have watched the neighborhood crime spree unfold all summer and fall. The lab that lives up the road goes down and steals the ball from the lab that lives down the road.He has done this about 20 times this year that I have observed. The people that own the down the road lab have no idea where the balls are going and I just can’t bring myself to be a stool pigeon. One added note of interest:the lab that does the pilfering is blind.

Please don’t use Joe Arpaio as an example of good law enforcement. He has become an expample of what you southern folks have been fighting for years. He rounds up people who he thinks might be illegal is well publicized “sweeps”, arrents people who say negative things about him, refuses to meet budget guidlines in the county,(if he disbanded his extensive PR department he could balance the budget and hire more officers) and is giving law enforcement in Arizona a BAD name. Has crime gone down? No. Do the people feel safer, NO.

Camera to pie flying toward my new face.
CNN just reported that a woman has been given a total face transplant. In a related story, a rancher found one of his horse’s wandering around the corral without a face, man.

If we could jail the pseudo-intellectual posters, and hospital the ridiculed and accused,we may solve the problem. We have the dubious distinction of being the largest gulag on the planet, processing mostly poor citizens with trumped-up plea-bargain convictions. How sweet a public-ordered sting would be,using prostitutes on so-called scholarly judges(hizzoners)and flag kissing coppers(eradication squads)would be.~~~Marion Barry and Elliott Spitzer would look like a choir boy and a priest. And you know it’s true. So much for the author’s agitprop and the fascist police state he covets.

I worked at that Kroger and I see the same tricks are being played. One evening a guy comes in, grabs a couple of bags from the end of the register and walks into the store. A few minutes later, he starts walking towards the door by Starbucks. As we call out for him to stop, he bolts. One of our regulars is walking towards him and hears us calling for him to stop. Our regular stands in front of this guy, grabs the bag and the guy is so stunned, he just runs away!

I worked at Krogers, and I have a peculiar crime MO to report: This man was hanging around the eggs, and pretending to be price shopping, and then he grabs this high-end pasteurized eggs from chickens who are not only free range, but also they’ve been feed organic feed, and most of these chickens have had access to bidets, so they’re really, really clean.
Anyway, this clown starts complaining about cracks in the eggs he’s inspected. He insists that every single dozen egg carton he’s looked at contained a cracked egg.
SO I goes over and finds this one carton with no cracked eggs, and I gives it to him, and he sez, “But this one has feathers in it…” Then he ran away.
I looked and din’t find no feathers, so I knew he was a lying chicken man.
I look for crime. I find crime. I make them run away.

Ron- it’s Spank “the” Monkey. Please use the whole name. It is not, nor has it ever been a crime in this state [backwards as it is] for a dog to steal a ball from another dog. “I believe the subject was crime,” were your words Ron, where’s the friggin’ crime? As for helping me, PLEASE? You have enough problems of your own I’m sure, you should concentrate on them.

Ron brings up the funnest xmas gag any of us stooge lovers ever played on our family, right? The nicely wrapped turd, or some of us wont cross the poo line and instead we wrap sticks and stones. I did it and clobbered my brother in 1959, 1960, and 1961, and he’s so stupid, he fell for it each time. I think he even cried in ‘61 so my dad made me quit doing it.
But I waited, year after year for the right time to do it again. Then, when we were in our forties, I had the perfect set up: My brother had come back from England where he had turned gay and started a new career as a brewmeister. Well, he got fired and was in atlanta to look for a new job. Anyway, he was there at xmas, not suspecting a thing, so I went to macy’s and paid top dollar for the nicest gift wrapped package you ever saw, filled with sticks and stones, (glued to the bottom of the box so he wont suspect).
My dad played santa that xmas morning my friends, and when he picked up my package from under the tree, he exclaimed, “And here’s one for…MARKIE!”
“Me? Someone bought me a present, and wrapped it up so nice? Gosh, who?”
My dad looked at the attached To/From card. “It says Santa”.
My brother shrugged and figured it was just our mom because she puts santa on some of the gifts, dont know why, dont care either, it’s just the perfect smokescreen for the sticks and stones ambush gift, is all I’m saying.
My brother held the box in his lap for a moment, and I expertly looked away from him pretending not to be concerned and I think I started bunching up some wrapping paper that was lying on the floor in case someone started a wrapping paper fight….then he opened the box. He saw the sticks and stones so professionally glued to the bottom of the box, with the weight distributed evenly to as not to tip off nuthing, and he looked at me, and started laughing so hard, and we hugged, and became brothers all over again, and it was the best xmas ever!

Is it just me who notices that Atlanta has become a cesspool of robbers, carjackers and burglars?? And I really hate to say this (and I am a Black male by the way), but I’m really getting sick and tired of seeing the people doing this crap look like me. For the record, I do not at all desire to see it done by someone who doesn’t either, just trying to make a point.
South Dekalb, and southwest Atlanta is the absolute worst with this. What angers me is that (we) Black people are always complaining about the “white man”, however for the most part we’re not out reeking this havoc in “his” community, we’re knocking over businesses that our mothers and grandmothers are shopping at.. or carjacking and killing someone who’s probably a relative of someone that one of our own family members goes to school..or church with. Again.. not suggesting this crap should be transplanted elsewhere, just making a point.
Honestly, I’m just glad to see that some of these goons are getting their just due, police (and people) are starting to strike back and kill these fools. I say “hooray”, because straight up…I hold no loyalty to or compassion for those in my community who choose to be a cancer that’s hellbent on killing us, we have too many challenges as it is. I don’t want to hear all the garbage. I fought and continue to fight the same battles. However, I’m not going upside someone else’s head or violating their home to ease my own pain.
Now I know this will probably unleash the many racists who oftentimes show up on these boards to spew their hatred, and that’s unfortunate for them. I just feel it needs to be said.

And another thing, those juvenile delinquents (poor diluted children) needs to realize that famous quote: “If you do the crime, you’ll do the time.” (In a area that is 6’x6’, with iron bars.) As parents, it’s up to them to see that children to show some proper respect for the law (and ditto for them too), so they won’t wind up in jail or dead (perferably jail).

Fumble, Fumble, Foiled by Fumbles, Timeouts burned, and Vikings humbled.
Are there deep mystical forces working for the Falcons? Surely it would take a spell to make the football take flight from the scrimmage line and scramble backwards purposefully toward the Falcon’s end zone twice in a few minutes.
Or do the Falcons have an angel? A mischievous angel with a sense of humor that harkens back to the keystone cop silent movie era. An angel who turned the vikings into bumbling fumblers. The image of the vikings chasing the pigskin dozens of yards behind thier line of scrimmage is one of the lighter moments of the past 300 years.
This is no ordinary season. The Falcons have won improbably again.
Inconceivable.
There can be only one reason that supernatural beings would favor our Falcons: The ghosts of Vicks Dogs will be avenged even if it takes an unholy aliance of witches, angels, and willful pigskins. OMG I just invented the cheerleader eligible play.
