Crime & punishment
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Some reports filed recently with Sandy Springs Police:
This victim reported that he and his girlfriend were arguing all day long. She left the residence and then later text-messaged him that she was on the way back with the police. The victim said he went outside of his apartment to wait on his girlfriend and the police. He said the girlfriend showed up alone and when she walked up to him, she grabbed and snatched his glasses from his face causing a scratch. According to him, she continued to assault him as he pushed her off while he attempted to retreat to his apartment. On the way, he pulled the fire alarm to hasten the response from the emergency services, who he hoped would help him. As he pushed his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend off of him while attempting to close the apartment door, she sprayed him with a chemical agent, probably pepper spray. He was visibly disabled but managed to get the door shut. When the fire department responded, the woman was gone and the victim refused treatment. The officers advised the man of known remedies for the pepper spray, and then gave him a case number. A passing neighbor noted the officers should have given him a coupon to man-camp instead.
Improper Frolicking
Officers were called to the Stratford Arms Apartments around 2 a.m. Officers found a couple in the pool, him with boxers on, and her with nothing on. They were cited for acting disorderly and sent on their way clothed.
Thefts
A man reported that someone stole his blood pressure meds from his mailbox.
A man reported that while he was playing tennis with friends, he placed his I-Phone on the edge of the tennis courts. Later he noticed it was gone. He said he saw three juveniles loitering near that area earlier. These are hot items so beware. Keep them close folks.
Forgery—Fraud—I.D. Theft
A woman reported that she found fraudulent activity on her husband’s American Express credit card. Someone ordered online, a camcorder from Circuit City and took possession of it at the store on Camp Creek Parkway. They later returned the camera for store credits totaling over $1200.
A woman said she checked her credit report and found someone applied for, and received a credit card in her name. She was later contacted by a collection agency in South Dakota.
A man reported someone accessed his online bank account and later forged three checks for just under $180,000.
Burglary
The resident said her garage door was left open. Someone went into her unlocked car inside the open garage and took cash, keys, and the garage-door opener from the car. (Don’t help them out folks!)
Other Stuff
A woman reported that she’s being harassed by her former pimp. He is text messaging threats to her.
Erika called the Sandy Springs Police Headquarters and said Jessica, when she was stopped by the police earlier, gave the name of Erika to the police officer because Jessica had a DUI suspension on her license at the time.
Arrests
Around midnight, an officer was called to a fight in the 6400 block of Roswell Road. Once things settled down, he was taking information from one of the victims, being treated by EMS personnel. A car drove by and the officer noted that there wasn’t much room for the car to pass by where he and the victim were standing. That proved to be the case when the victim, already being treated for fight-related injuries, suffered another injury when the car ran over his foot. The officer yelled for the driver to stop. She did, and backed up, and backed into a pole. The officer spoke to the driver who said she left her license at home. She then gave the officer a false name. The officer found a food stamp in her car that properly identified her. The officer ran the new name and found she was wanted for a probation violation in Stone Mountain. She was arrested.
Remember:
Leave GPS in car BAD
Take GPS from car GOOD

After reading Officer Steve’s blog today, I realize that police and law enforcement officials deserve much respect, and so does the law itself, which was written by a committee for the benefit of all, and, if you read the various codicils to the statutes, and ordinances, you come to understand that no graft or corruption is possible in the forming of laws, that no one individual ever benefits at the expense of others, and that is why our country is the greatest in der verlde.
You see, in America, we respect the law.
Flash: Obama cant win with Biden. The visual contrast between the two will slap America out of it’s hynpnotic obamamania trance. Hillary was the right choice, and the landslide win.
Prediction: McCain by a diebold machine in Ohio.

I disagree catlady.
I think we need to “thin the heard” of idiots. We certainly have more of those than we need. If he’s stupid enough to wait outside for his girlfriend and the police then he’s clearly not too smart. Too bad he didn’t get hit by a drive-by. I think he got off easy. As for us taxpayers who’ll have to pay all the costs for this incident, well that’s another gripe.

Having a GPs in your car simply means you have $400.00 you don’t need need and are an idiot.

what is this noise about respect for the police? when they stop planting evidence, pulling people over and searching their vehicle because they were driving dwi (driving while black), when they stop taking drugs and money from arrests, when they stop writing stupid speeding tickets for the sole purpose of a fund raiser, when they stop using a taser because someone did not get on the ground fast enough and give them a heart attack, when they stop driving around with blacked out windows that I cannot have, when they stop hiring these little leather freaks who like the tight uniform and military hair cuts just a little tooo much(what 2 men do in the privacy of their shower is their business) when they stop shooting up the chiefs wifes boyfriends house, when they hire someone smart enough to not shoot a student in the face during fire arm training( not supposed to have a loaded weapon in the building , but this instructor was special, the rules did not apply to him) when they hire people who have single digit IQ’s. And do not even give the line about ” yeah, You get in trouble , who you going to call?” I have never and cannot foresee a situation where I would call one of those clowns.

Dixie- if GPS does stand for good pot stash, then definitely always have one in the car when you drive. Last year Sandy Springs had me dead to rights, they just couldn’t find my GPS. The young cop just knew something was up, perhaps it was all the trembling I was doing, but try as he might, he couldn’t find anything. Close call, too close. Cassie- nice to see you back!

The man camp comment is uncalled for with GA’s strict domestic violence laws. Common,Steve, you know the guy 90% of the time gets arrested for the slightest of things. I got a misdemenor simple battery family violence for apparently spitting on my wife when I discovered an affair. My glasses were broke, I had deep scratches and marks on me but I got arrested. I wouldnt make a statement against her soas not to affect her greencard. But a female officer took her aside and talked he into making a statement she initially refused. Yes, it was a misdeamenor, but can screw up your life because of family violence. I dint strike her, she dint have a mark on her, what exactly do you mean to go to man camp? The cops and courts frown upon such behaviors taught there!
By Andrew
August 24, 2008 2:37 AM | Link to this
That woman should have had an arrest warrant issued. And for those of you who don’t know, GA laws are written that if you threw a spit wad on someone you can be arrested for simple assault. If you kissed someone on the nose and they didnt want it= sexual assault. And if you block someone from leaving a closed place, for a second or a day, = false imprisonment. And is you have EVER lived withsomeone, intimate or not, family violence charges or restraining orders will be issued. It is still illegal in GA to commit adultry, but unenforced maybe there would be less family violence cases if it was?PS my case was dismissed but not even after my wife asked for the charges to be dropped. I had to hire an good attorney and do proactive anger management classes and counseling all at a cost. But my ex did’nt have do to anything and the law only further divided us by automatically not allowing us to communicate to work it out.

Tony - While I agree with your defense of our officers serving, I must impress on you the notion that you are the ignorant one.
Your belief that an education in Georgia is grossly lacking is my first element of evidence. The fact that you’ve stated it so boldly in this comment area is my second. Strike three - you clearly can’t count. Rick had 2 questions and 2 comments in his assertion.
I hope I have invoked further consideration on the subject of an education available in Georgia versus your education. From wherever it is that you immigrated.

I have to comment on the “coupon to man camp” line. I know it’s just a joke but the assumptions behind it are not.
Men are abused in relationships too. Men can be victims of physical abuse by women. Men should not receive ridicule and snark if they do the right thing and report to police. She committed a crime and just as if the genders were reversed, police should respond appropriately.
Second, in my own line of work, I frequently see men who end up arrested for domestic violence in these situations because the female lashes out at them, provokes them with strike after strike, and the man finally strikes back—and she calls the police, has visible marks, and they both go to jail. Totally not fair but that’s how it plays out. He ends up with a DV charge on his criminal history.
This man did the right thing. He resisted, tried to get away, contacted authorities. He did not lash out, strike back, go one better and end up with his own butt in jail. He needs an appropriate police response, not a coupon for “man camp.”

Maybe the “passing neighbor” (was he dying?) just meant the man needed to be a little more assertive in his dealing with his aggressive (former) girlfriend. NOT that he needed to beat her up, but that he should’ve gotten her out of his life rather than allowing her to mistreat him.
‘Course, I don’t know anything about “man camp” except I thought guys sat around the fire, naked and painted up, and beat their chests and told tales of brave feats and heroism. When did it become a synonym to a place to learn abusive behavior toward women?

Thanks cmm, you saidit better thaan my experience, but usually only onegoes downtown “as the primary agressor” and than cant return to the residence nor speak to the other party and it only creats more of a division. Immediate counseling should be applid to both parties with in 72 hrs after arraignment. THe process only leads to bad feelings, resentment, financial burdens, and a breakdown of primary relationships. Not to mention the stigma that is immediately applied to it. And a felony can almost be better than any misdemeanor Family Violence arrest.

Dixie, you’re right, I’m wrong. I do apologize. I was just trying to get at the idiot with the idiot blog. The guy that called the police about his girlfried did the right thing. I would of arrested her if she was still on scene when I arrived or at least took out a warrant for her arrest. It seems like there was plenty of probable cause to take some sort of action.

Hi Cassie. Love the spanking idea!
I’m glad to finally hear that I have a name that is shared with a person. Usually I hear “I had a dog named Dixie” or a horse. My favorite is “I think of you every time I go to the bathroom.” (Dixie cups) When I was a bartender TOO MANY men who had TOO MANY drinks would start singing (badly) ” I wish I was in Dixie”
Have you by chance been blogging in Arizona? Did you catch the article 2 days ago about the guy stalking the schoolgirl while he was armed and wearing a woman’s corset & skirt?
Or the one about the Indian opposition to man made snow because it used reclaimed water near “sacred grounds”? Because .001% MIGHT contain fecal matter that has been treated and returned? WOW what an uproar over that!
There was also one about some religious West Virginians(?) who wanted to keep their pictures out of the Motor Vehicle Data base because they claimed it marked them like the devil. AND A JUDGE ALLOWED IT !
Anyway I’ve enjoyed your comments and I’m glad you’re back. (Stone was missing you too.)

Actually the typical response to a domestic disturbance is to arrest both parties. Cops got tired of being attacked by the victim when they arrested the assailant. You can only get shot or stabbed by a battered woman so many times before you change tactics.
The real thing (and correct me if I’m wrong) is that they can bar you from using firearms, even if you’re a soldier or a cop for even being arrested. Funny thing about that. Abusers will take a restraining order out against their victims so they can’t buy a gun (it flags on the background check)..
I get why a lot of these laws exist, and in spirit they’re great, but in execution they’re stupid (surprise!). There are delightful stories of wives abusing their husbands who are cops and holding them hostage by threatening to complain, thus ruining their career.
The whole domestic abuse thing is just a big mess and the way we deal with it as a society is worse.

Okay, the skinny dipping in the pool thing? I have to tell you about what happened to me on a date in 1981 at the Mi Casa Apartments off of Howell Mill Rd near Downtown Atlanta. I interviewed this beautiful blonde for a job as my assistant for a Chemical Company. I knew that if I gave her the job, I wouldn’t have a chance of cranking her. So I called her and asked her out. At first she was mad and disappointed but by the end of the phone call, she said yes. We went out to dinner, had the lobster, went to a cool bar, where she french-kissed a Hells angel type in front of me just because. I’ve never been so angry and turned on at the same time in my life.
We went back to my apartment, without the Hells Angel’s type, of course. We somehow ended up naked in the pool. I didn’t ask questions. I went for it. We had the best sex that chlorine ever protected, people, let me tell you. WOW! So, afterwards, I went to the bathroom. (beer). When I come back, the babe tells me that a man was watching the whole thing from his balcony just over there. I looked. He was gone. Then, I went for seconds, but the chick had had enough and she got up to leave. But, to my surprise and total astonishment, she had one little trick up her sleeve. She went around the pool and threw every single lawn chair into the deep end of the pool. I just watched saying stuff like, “This will really be funny when someone dives off the diving board!”
I had one more date with her. We ended up at her place and I was soon surrounded by about 15 cats. I hate cats.
I should have hired her.

Lt. And showing additional intelligence, this all went down outside the Fulton County Courthouse. He pointed a gun at officers trying to make a stop on a traffic violation, and he is lucky he is not taking the celestial dirt nap.
