No sympathy for this now unemployed informant
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Now and then I get on the soap box which is what I’m doing after reading that Alex White was suing the City of Atlanta and the APD. No surprise but ridiculous none the less.
So now I need to tell you that this is my opinion and not that of the police department in Sandy Springs or the City of Atlanta or anyone else but me. This includes my Shih Tzu and Roxy the Rotweiller, born of Satan, who hunts the silly people in my neighborhood, late at night, for unspeakable rituals at our house involving Jell-o and scuba flippers.
Alex White, professional snitch, is suing Atlanta Police.
First, let’s get this out of the way: Should he have told on those narcotics cops? Damn right! No doubt. They got what they deserved. There’s plenty of dope out there without having to fabricate facts and doing what they did. Kathryn Johnston should not have been shot and killed that night. Alex White should have told the truth and Alex White did what he should have done. Whether or not he did it because it was the right thing to do or doing to cover his fanny is a matter of discussion I’m sure. Maybe it was the lesser of two evils.
Alex White’s “credibility” as a confidential informant has been damaged due to the fact that his face was on television. Now he can’t get a job as a confidential informant. That’s horrible. Is there some sort of pie chart or graph showing the dramatic decline of confidential informants? Those guys need a union.
Alex is trying to play the role of victim. I think it was Alex who let the Fox-5 camera person in the car while he drove around talking on his cell phone—driving and talking as if that phone call couldn’t wait five minutes until the filming was done? I’ll bet he had at least a dozen DVD’s made of him driving around with the camera in his face. Did he not think people wouldn’t recognize him?
The article in the AJC said that the lawsuit “requests that the 25-year-old White be compensated for lost wages, emotional distress and attorney’s fees.” The lawsuit he filed asks for lost wages (well, this is America), compensation for emotional distress? Wait a minute. What about all those dopers White burned when he was snitching? They lost wages. They should sue him. I’m sure they’d like to do more than that to him but hey, we’re all victims here right?) Attorney’s fees? (Well, this is America.)
Alex chose to be a snitch. It’s not like he went to community college to get his Associates in Snitching degree and now he can’t use his trade. Snitches work deals to get themselves out of trouble and then if they want, they make a few bucks at it.
If you’re a confidential informant, the after effect of putting your face on television will include a sharp decline in the request for your services. Don’t forget, the key word is “confidential.” It was his choice. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for Alex. Maybe he’ll be inspired to do great things. Who knows but I don’t buy the “victim” spin. Nope.

Just damn Steve. I think this is your best one yet and you didn’t even begin to touch the tip of the iceberg you wanted to I’m sure. Wonder if Cindy will weigh in. Oh and where is your “don’t taze me bro” video?
Seriously though, if you are even half as fired up about this POS’s lawsuit as I am then you came across very mellow.
On another note: I applaud you for breaking the Blue Line and condemning the actions of the guys that had the bad bust. I won’t say murders because the whole thing was a tragic situation brought on by bad police work. They broke into an old womans house for whatever reason. She shot at them for the obvious reason. They responded like any person, much less a cop, would respond when someone shoots at them. Just a tragic situation brought on by sloppy dudes. Hopefully they are not indicative of our police force, although they are probably indicative of their police chief. But who knows right? I mean New Orleans was such as clean place………

Fred…ask and you shall receive… :)
Now hold on just a doggone minute, sir. You mean to tell me there are consequences for our choices???
WTH? (What the heck) New concept?
You’re stepping on toes now, bud. (insert evil laugh here) muwahahaha!
Wonder if Cindy will weigh in snicker…How could I resist with your formal invitation? :)
P.S. IMNSHO (in my not so humble opinion) this is not Steve’s best writing yet…I think the one’s that so far have the leading spots are from Christmas-time (oops did i say that)a couple of years ago when he wrote about going to the mall, and the one about getting “man-points”. Good stuff…and they’re archived, to boot.
will Cindy weigh in… shakes head in disbelief…

Cindy - thanks for the John Ritter movie link. The title was “Skin Deep.” Rent it if you can find it. Good column by Lt. SteveO, and it’s refreshing to see someone break the infamous code of silence when it comes to officer shenanigans. Have to disagree with one thing though. I believe there actually is an Associates in Snitching degree. I think it’s from some community college in Florida. Maybe we should taser these guys… Bubba, you out there? Regardless, I KNOW we should taser this skunks lawyers. And we wonder why people have strained faith in our legal system. Yup, dismiss this case, give the snitch a guided tour of a prison, and taser his lawyers AND video tape it. Might provide el buubaa with some factual support for his liber… arguments.

I hope his lawyer is standing next to him when that lightning bolt hits him and splits him in two pieces. Does this man have any remorse for what happened to Mrs. Johnston due to his lying not snitching. You know he wasn’t even a good snitch.

I read that this guy was making $30,000 per year, snitching. That seems incredible. I like to watch “Law and Order”, Brisco usually hands the guy a twenty and takes his crack away.
I’ve also read about the Stop Snitchin’ campaign, put out by hip-hop and gang bangers. Seems like the snitching profession pays well but also comes with certain risks.
Filster, you are right, I am a liberal. I’m also intelligent, I don’t live anywhere near Atlanta. I’m up here in North Georgia and I would avoid Atlanta altogether except that I have to fly out of ATL occasionally.
The only reason I read this paper is to keep up with our idiotic state government and I like reading about the stupid criminals (doesn’t mean I want to taser them).

Officer Steve may have just kilt the stool-pigeon industry. People are very reluctant to testify about any crimes because they are placed in great jeopardy. If not even the police respect informants, and it appears they really dont appreciate rats, snitches, or anyone who sings like a canary, then why would anyone testify in court or tip off police?
I cant believe Officer Steve wrote this bit about how it’s curtains for dirty rats and snitches. “You dirty rat, you no good dirty rat, I’m gonna git you just like you got my brother…nyiff…nyiff.”

I believe that illegal aliens caused this. If we had deported illegal aliens this wouldn’t have happened. Illegal aliens should be deport it. Illegal aliens are the cause of the drought, sewage problems, trash problems, crime, and traffic problems. If illegal aliens are deported then all of this will be gone. Deport illegal aliens NOW.

I completely agree with you Steve. I just don’t like the word “snitches”. It has a very bad connotation. Since when is it bad to tell on someone else because that person is breaking the law. If society gives this word a bad meaning, why should others, including the black community (generally speaking), comply with police and help solve murders, rapes and other crimes? just mho.

It is refreshing to see Lt.Steve’s honesty about those bad drug cops. A little more of that from the police community would go a long way with how people view the police.
I’ve always felt that cops should be held to stricter sentancing when they commit crimes, much like a person with a Commercial Driver’s License is when they get a ticket.
Cindy, if you are an elected official, I certainly didn’t mean to offend…

No police officer, in their right minds, will ever defend wrong doing. Remember, our police departments are a make up of our community! The worse the community gets, the worse the police department gets. Look at LA. Lets start with cleaning up our communities and the police will fix themselves. You can’t predict human behavior, so there will always be problems here and there. A perfect example is the Marietta officer that just got popped dealing. He, along with anyone else who CHOOSES to do wrong, are a disgrace to the profession and SHOULD be held to a higher standard. From a police officer, I say if they disgrace our badge, put them away forever. If it’s a human mistake, not negligent or malice, it should be handled in a different way. To the snitch: To know who, what, when, where, why and how…you have to be hangin with the crowd. Get a real job and find some new friends!

I’ll never talk, I’ll never sing, I’ll never rat out another human being, I’ll never snitch. I’ll never snitch. Never.
What? there’s a reward? My neighbor waters his lawn, washes his car, sprays stray cats with a hose, has a slip-n-slide in operation 24/7, overflushes his toilets, has sex in the shower, (which adds two minutes to the normal time), and wont fix his six leaky faucets.
There, I snitched. I snitched and I’m glad, and I’ll snitch again.

Great insight Steve! This suit is absurd. Alex White should move somewhere else and find some new shady friends to tell on. Like other working people in America, many times you are required to move to a place where there are better opportunities when you can’t find employment where you live. He’s lucky, he won’t have a problem finding a drug-infested neighborhood in any big city in America.

Dear El Bubba,
You wrote, “Eu tive relações sexuais com sua esposa” to that idot from Brazil. In the spirit of Cindy’s movie quotes, I’ll quote from Top Gun: “I think that just about covers the flyby’s.”

Hey Fred,
That guy was sort of bugging me. He was insulting my writing skills, while his grammar and syntax have obvious flaws. I could insult him in four languages, one of which isn’t written, but to what end? We’re all adults here, I think people enjoy my liberal opinions… ElBubba

Brazil nut. “I can find out who you are”. Is that a threat? Should I be scared right about now? If so I’m not. On most message boards I went as “Bubba” (seriously el bubba lol). I had little tiny richard wads like you try to scare me there and I not only posted my name but my address. Non of you would be assassins ever came to my door. Come find me and make good your veiled threats. I await with baited breath. Life is just too damn short to be scared about internet wannabe bullies. I have faced armed, trained soldiers who were paid to kill me and my soldiers. To think I would be scared of the like of you is laughable. Have I invited you lately to bite me? Lighten up dude.
Oh wait, you were threatening EL Bubba, not the reformed Bubba (the butthead on many forums). My bad. Woooooooo I can sleep better tonight. I almost pooted at your threat I was so scared.
Did I read correctly that you needed money? Send me an address and I’ll help you out bro, I mean it’s Christmas time and all. I’ll help a poor delusional dude down on his luck. How much do you need?

We had to take the same oath the military does, I think it’s the same oath a President takes, when they got to that part about “protecting and defending” the constitution I remember thinking “How? Do we get guns?” This has all been rather interesting, I’ve never been threatened before. I started thinking about what I’d do if the Brazilian came looking for me.
