Father’s Day don’ts & a few do’s

This is Father’s Day weekend meaning that we don’t have to do the following:

• Cut the grass

• Go to any form of fabric store

• Wear color-coordinated clothing if we so desire

• Talk to your mother

• Plant anything

Even though it is Father’s Day, there are still rules that fathers should observe just for the good of everyone. This would include burping contests and scratching inappropriately in front of company. Although you can wear your robe longer, you probably need to have it on by supper-time.

Every year they ask me what I want for Father’s Day and all year long I know what I want but by the time the day gets here, I either forget or feel guilty about wanting it.

By the end of the day if all the kids have called or sent cards, I’m generally happy to have it over with. This year is more difficult because I have all the tools that I need. Besides eventually they want stuff done with the tools. The whole house is being shelved. It’s ridiculous. Why do we need shelves in the shower?

Shelves and dog houses are the most popular requests when they give you tools. The dogs look at me like “Yeah, right” because the dogs and I know they live in MY house and they don’t have any plans to downsize. I built a dog house once and the dog pooped in it. Dog’s poop on things because they can’t say “Take your **#%$ house—and something about where the sun don’t shine.

Anyway, have a good Father’s Day and if we’re just sitting around in our robes and our hair is sticking up like a rooster just put up with it until supper time.

Have a good weekend.
