Crime & punishment
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Question of the week What kind of foods do prisoners eat? I called Chamblee Police to find out: Waffle House: The vast menu at the WH offers today’s prisoner with a variety of choices for his or her in-house dining. Scattered, Covered, and Incarcerated!
Couture crime An employee of a dress store at 7732 Spalding Drive said a couple came into the store on the 11th and walked around as if to shop but to the employee, looked suspicious. After the couple left, the employee found that a St. Johns evening dress was gone. The employee said the female part of the couple came in, with another woman, about a half-hour later. She didn’t say if anything else was missing. The store had a camera system but it was not on. Now you need to shore up these mistakes if you own or operate a business. It’s always the low-tech stuff that bites you.
Car contract changes? The victim said he bought a 2003 Toyota Sequoia from a car dealer. He said that when he got his first bill, it was different than what he agreed and signed a contract to. He noted that the interest rate and the purchase amount were different than what he had agreed to. He said the contract was changed after the fact, and someone signed his name to it.
Irony strikes A man reported that someone accessed his American Express card number and spent $300 on anti-virus software.
Clean out your car The victim’s car was entered but nothing was reported missing. There were five additional thefts from auto reported from this apartment complex location at 6850 Peachtree Dunwoody Road.Obviously someone has been picking on this apartment complex. The primary method of entry was prying door locks and smashing windows during a time frame of 1 and 5 a.m. Remember: In almost all cases, the thieves will look in the car, see something they want, and then smash and grab. They rarely break in, make all that noise, and then start looking around. Take everything of value out of the car. Don’t be lazy.
Movie fan A 28-year old man was arrested and charged with Burglary and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property after police were called to a car dealer in the 7700 block of Roswell Road. They investigated and determined the man had entered the business after hours, and stayed in a certain area of the dealership watching porn all night. The man made a bed on a van seat (that probably should never be touched again) and had pulled some speakers over from the adjacent office. The downfall of porn-man was that he accidentally left his wallet in the office. An employee, upon arriving to work and finding things a bit out of place, had the wallet when the suspect returned to ask if the employee had found a wallet he left behind. The film fan was still on hand when the officers arrived. He said that he was shopping for a truck but that didn’t fly. He is also believed to be the same man who broke into an office in the 7840 block of Roswell Road and watched porn all night there.
Neither rain. nor sleet….nor crazy people The postal carrier on Colquitt Road said that he tried to pull up to an apartment mailbox area but the site was blocked by a woman and her car. The woman demanded her mail. The postal carrier asked her to move the car. She refused so he told her that he would return after he carried out his deliveries in another area of the complex. She grabbed the mail out of his hand and then knocked his phone out of his hand when he tried to call police. She then ran into the apartment complex.
Construction and Renovation SitesBurglars took copper wire valued at over $10,000 from an office area at 8601 Dunwoody Place. There have been several incidents of appliances being taken from construction and renovation sites near the Telfair Gates area. There have been eight incidents of thefts from homes under renovation primarily during the weekend. These locations are spread out and in no concentrated area. Please report any suspicious activities including cars and pesons in construction areas and homes that are undergoing renovation.
A RX for stopping crime Northside Hospital reported a $70,000 Sonosite Micromax Ultrasound machine was stolen from the ground-floor surgical area. Northside Hospital and the surrounding area is being targeted for thefts both outside and inside. This obviously includes the possibility of inside jobs especially in the case of stolen medical equipment. Persons could easily access the area posing as either staff or visitors. Employees of these office and hospital areas should contact staff security and police if they see anything that is suspicious.

Waffle House? What happened to bread and water. No wonder our crime rate is so high. For some people (including me!) Waffle House is a treat.

Fairway Wood Link: [http://www.golflogic.ca/golf-blog/category/as-it-lies/] Maybe it was the midnight parties where scantily clad women posed in photo-shoots in the driveway. It could have been the blacked-out windows that aroused suspicion among residents living in metro Atlanta’s most exclusive suburb. Eventually neighbors’ complaints led to the arrest of Lisa Ann Taylor, 42, on charges of prostitution, racketeering and drug offenses. Also arrested was Taylor’s business partner, Nicole Alaine Probert, 30, who uses the names Naughty Nikki and Brigit Foxxx, according to her arrest warrant.
The arrests shocked many in the gated Sugarloaf community, site of the PGA’s Bell South Classic since 1997 and home to many of the area’s wealthiest executives, pro sports figures and leading entertainers in the area’s hip-hop music scene.
Taylor’s mansion at 2800 Sugarloaf Club Drive is located near the golf course’s Stables Hole #9, a par-four 465-yard dogleg. Apparently she kept a neat lawn and a low profile, a curious attribute for a curvaceous beauty also known as Melissa Wolf, star of several X-rated films. Her website boasts she was not only a Penthouse Pet of the Month in 1985 but The Most Publicized Pet. With her full-frontal photo spread across the pages of the on-line press and Internet blogs, Taylor could well add to her credentials.
Mortgage and maintenance of Taylor’s residence – assessed at $1,091,700 – can be pretty steep for all but high profiled athletes. Taylor, in a court filing, listed her gross annual income around $140,000 and somehow managed to make ends meet by allegedly charging her clients $10,000 for weekend sex. She openly advertised on her website for people seeking prostitutes. The investigators admit to monitoring the website over a five-week period to build their case against Taylor and her patrons, many of them hoping their aliases won’t betray them.
The Sugarloaf course, designed by golf great Greg Norman, has since distinguished itself in PGA play as a lead-up to the Masters held a week later in Marietta, Georgia. The tees on the 9th demand precision drives down a fairway bordered by trees on the left and a creek cutting along the right edge of a hardwood forest. There is no evidence to date whether any golfers looking for lost balls ever sought relief in the madam’s residence.
Both women have made bail and the mansion now has a lien on it, but the incident will no doubt be a topic of conversation during this summer’s 2007 Bell South Classic. The players and gallery might discuss Phil Mickelson’s back to back wins the past two years or they could be talking about the trial and sentencing of the two women. It’s a good possibility that when players choose their driver for the 9th they might just smile and pick a fairway wood.

Prisoners do not eat at the Waffle House. What is the point of making something like that up? What they get to eat is state or county or city-issue hog slop. So all you people out there with hate in your hearts, rest assured there’s no fine dining at Chez Hoosegow.

it has been many years ago, but i was once a very common houseguest of Chamblee police and i assure all of you that we were indeed treated to the waffle house, 3 times a day. Eggs and grits for breakfast, sandwich of choice for lunch and burgers for dinner. This is absolutely true..believe me its not something i would make up or brag about..just fact.

It is cheaper on the taxpayer to get the carry out. Trying to staff and maintain an kitchen for prisoners is not cost effective. I would suspect that it would behoove smaller municipalities to combine their jails and save even more money. Where I’m from - they charge the inmate for the food anyway. Of course - collecting the Tab is another matter.

No. I disagree. It is bounty hunters that take these cameras so they are not caught on tape. It’s not the low stuff that bites you. It is egotistical bounty hunters, that think they are above the law! Return the camera’s,video and volunteer for an HIV test. You know who you are.

Trust someone who works for Chamblee Police. We get all of our meals from Waffle House. It is much cheaper to order eggs and grits for breakfast, grilled cheese for lunch, and a quarter pounder plate for dinner than to prepare such meals on scene. As for figuring out which WH we order from, we have 2 in the city…u figure it out.

Dear Georgians: My family and I were victimized by law enforcement and judicial officials of Dekalb County, Decatur. I have not only exposed them for what they have done to me but listed their names for the world to read. Police misconduct is not new to people who do not have the monetary means to secure their rights. Citizens should speak out against the injustice that law enforcement officials commit. Injustice by our police and judicial officials must not be tolerated and when one is caught breaking their oath to the citizens whom they are sworn to protect, they must be held to the highest standard of punishment allowed by the judicial system. In most cases when law enforcement officials are charged with breaking the law they are awarded with light sentences. Tougher punishment most be given to those in positions of public trust; this is the only way to curtail the destruction they cause to peoples lives. I’m really sick of seeing these comments from Keith Lynch regarding his “unfair” treatment by DeKalb police. I really hope the people named in his book sue him for libel…I am almost tempted to contact them all and offer to represent them for free in a class action against him. AJC - please stop posting these “comments” of his, they are really annoying.

thank you for posting keith lynch’s entry and just because you did so - i am compelled to read your page more frequently. the information on keith lynch’s website briefly portraying his experience was worthwhile reading. your posting will allow me to read more on the matter to form my own conclusion; nonetheless the events mentioned (arrests, death of wife and deprivation of children) are factual. and to the writer “hunter” - put your money where your mouth is; don’t be tempted - just do it.

Dear Hunter: One cannot sue if the truth is being reveal. I only inserted the documents that are public knowledge to prove the injustice that law enforcement officers and other officials have written on their on behalf. So if you wish to represent the individuals in a law suit I welcome it. I guarantee not one of them will come forward because I have truth and God on my side. Hunter if you wish to assist someone in a law suit make sure they are good people! Keith Lynch
