Friday free-for-all

— A 24-year old man was arrested at Roswell and Dalrymple roads and charged with aggressive driving in connection with a road rage complaint filed by another motorist. The defendant allegedly was aggressively tailgating the complainant’s car. He told officers that he got mad because the driver of the other car was spitting out sunflower seeds that were landing on his car.

— A 27-year-old was arrested on Northwood Drive after he approached two persons and asked if they wanted to do some Ecstasy and smoke marijuana. Those two persons were police officers. He was arrested for criminal solicitation.

— The Hammond Drive victim said that someone took her purse from the top of her car when she walked back into the building to retrieve keys she left inside. She was gone five minutes. The total value of the items in the purse and the purse itself totaled $859. I don’t normally give victims the Einstein Award, but come on.

— A 36-year-old man was arrested after he became belligerent when the bartender figured out the man was going to walk on a $55 tab. (Apparently, he had done this before.) When officers arrived, the man was not very cooperative, said a lot of cruel and mean things and was arrested.

Landscapers and yard commandos take note

First of all, I hate it when those guys blow the leaves and grass into the middle of the street — as if there is some great invisible void or black hole where it goes. If here was such a place, we’d all get our socks back. Secondly, bag what you plan to discard. Blowing leaves and or other items into the storm drains is an ordinance violation and could land you in court.

Yeah, I’m not very fond of people blowing debris into the road either…especially if they blindside you with it when your window is down. oh and how about when your car is freshly washed. oh yeah, and how about…ok…yeah…stop blowing stuff in the road and in the drains! all the way around…not a good idea. thanks.

What do you suppose we do to the landscapers that are violating the ordinance by blowing leaves in the drains? Oh wait, we can deport them. That’s one way to lower the illegal population.

It’s especially fun when you are on a bike and you ride into the blown leaves and dust…although most guys are pretty good about turning the blower off if they see you…notice I said “if”

Sunflower seeds are for wimps. You ought to see reaction I get when I hawk a big ‘ol plug of tobaccy out the window.

Especially motorcyclists……

We can get other drivers arrested for road rage based aggressive driving? How?

Red Man you and your tobaccy is sure to get you in trouble. Best you spit that suff into your foam cup before the wrong guy gets in its path.

In fact why would any normal human spit anything out of a car window? My guess is they are just plain simple minded Red Necks.

After having a side window in my car shattered by a rock kicked up from a professional-grade lawn mower, I’m really leery of landscapers aiming stuff toward the street. I’m not sure if a blower is powerful enough to kick up a rock, but why take chances? I wish they would stop, too.

Wait. Steve, you’re the police! Of all of us, YOU can do something to MAKE them stop! Can’t you cite them?

I like to spit sunflower seeds into storm drains while I blow leaves. Will that get me in trouble?

I always find it soooo unfortunate when I “happen not to see” those guys and I “accidentally” give them a nice buzz with my sideview mirror as they are walking along the road blowing dust at my car. Ooops!

Why don’t police in the Metro Atlanta area do more about enforcing the “lights on when raining” laws? They could make a fortune in fines!

Okay, tell me if I’m wrong, Officer Rose, but doesn’t RedMan’s comment describe a felony? Hurdling objects at moving traffic? He thinks it’s funny to suggest that a sizeable wad of tobacco would not endanger the traffic behind him. People get startled and make reflexive jerky moves and then overcorrect. A 15 car pileup is always possible from what RedMan describes.

Theoretical Question: With Ga’s new “stand your ground” law, can we shoot the clown who throws sizeable objects at us at highway speeds? A citizen’s arrest? Get his license plate and report him? How can we prove it? Doesn’t this person need killing? How can a law abiding citizen who catches this idiot in the act of assaulting traffic respond with lethal force and still be within the confines of Georgia’s laws?
