Talk behind my back? Smack!
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
If it’s Monday, it must be snippets:
— Two women at North River Drive got into an argument about each talking behind the other’s back. One woman said the other got into her face, yelled and slapped her. The slap caused a slight injury to the victim’s lip. Final result: Simple battery charge.
— A burglar got into the victim’s Sunflower Way residence through a garage window. The thief took a Panasonic flat-screen TV and $4,000 in currency. The cash was business money from his restaurant. If you own a business, big or small, deposit the money as soon as possible and DO NOT take it home. We have had several burglaries and robberies where the suspects knew the victims were taking the money home overnight.
— Someone kicked the Windridge Drive victim’s apartment door in and took several items. The victim said he suspects a friend, who smokes a lot of marijuana, because he knew the victim’s odd schedule. He said the friend buys pot from a fat guy at a Roswell Road service station.
— A Willow Heights Drive woman reported that at 2:30 p.m. she returned to her home and found a man inside. She asked him what he was doing. He replied, “I’m taking your stuff.” The man left in an unknown direction. She is missing 40 DVDs and 20 shirts.
— A man and a woman got into an argument. She stormed out and took his cell phone with her. He was mad and reported her as the thief. They were arguing over results of a paternity test.

Wow, that must be the first incident of marijuana induced burglary. Usually it just makes you eat. Perhaps his friend was a loser anyway (my feeling is that pot doesn’t make you a loser, you were most likely a loser before smoking it and just use pot as an excuse to act a fool) and the victim needs to seek better company.

ALL THIS SEEMS SO HUMOROUS EXCEPT TO THOSE OF US WHO ARE VICTIMS OF CRIMES; I UNDERSTAND YOU ARE MAKING LIGHT OF SITUATIONS FOR YOUR COLUMN OR BLOG IF YOU WILL- BUT ROSWELL ROAD HAS BECOME THE BANKHEAD HIGHWAY OR EXCUSE ME THE DONALD L. HOLLOWAY OF SANDY SPRINGS. THE CLOSER TO ROSWELL YOU GET IT GETS A LITTLE BETTER BUT THE CRACK PROBLEMS AND THE METH PROBLEMS ARE OUT OF CONTROL- RATHER THAN POKE FUN AT STUPID CRIMINALS- WHY NOT REALLY GO AFTER THEM.

Making light of situations works for about 5 minutes. Sandy Springs and Eva Galombos have a LONG road ahead of them if they want to REALLY CLEAN up Roswell Road and Sandy Springs from one end to the other. It really SUCKS to know that indeed Roswell Road has turned in to a “Bankhead Highway” - and if you don’t knw what I am talking about remember the poor guy in the tanker truck who was BRUTALLY attacked. Seriously, Roswell Road needs BIG BIG IMPROVEMENT; and sorry but until lower incomes moved in it was NOT nearly this bad; and sorry but the TRUTH HURTS; they (contractors/builders) are’nt throwing up half a million dollar and million dollar homes for NO reason; get ready for higher taxes and removal of lower income families; it stinks but they gotta do what they gotta do.

Before moving to a Washington, D.C. suburb five years ago, I lived just off of Roswell Rd. near the river. I’m sorry to hear that the area is in decline. Between Perimeter and Northpoint Malls, and the beautiful neighborhoods in between, hopefully the area can be revived.

Sounds like the affluent, mostly white conservatives of Sandy Springs are upset over Roswell Road becoming Bankhead Hwy. These comments posted reflect pure racism by ignorant rich conservatives. As a police officer with 13 years service in Metro Atlanta, I can tell you Sandy Springs began to get bad when all the affluent transplants moved in from up north, etc. It makes me sick to even fathom of driving or living in North Fulton/Forsyth. I will stay away from Sandy Springs. Not because of the lower income folks, but for the rich fools who live there.

Dano, not only are you quick to jump to conclusions, but you need to think before you speak. You don’t have to be rich fools to be concerned about Roswell Road turning into Bankhead Hwy. Bankhead Hwy is not a safe place, as a police officer I would think that you would have already know that. Anyone and everyone with even a little common sense and concern for their family would not want to live in an area of high crime. I found it interesting that you said you want to stay away from Sandy Springs because of the rich people. Yes I understand that many wealthy people flaunt there money and like to show it off. Yes that can be quite annoying at times, however I would much rather have to live with that than have to worry about my family and I being shot/beaten/robbed etc…
You automatically assumed that people were being racist when they were talking about Roswell turning into Bankhead… How come they couldn’t just be concerned about the crime levels and the drugs? Why do you feel that people are always racist? You were generalizing yourself when you started talking about white conservatives. Are you saying that white conservatives are the only people that worry about their family’s wellbeing? My friend, you may have to reconsider who is being racist…

Dano honey- no one is racist here- I am a black woman who is married to a white man and we live just off of Roswell Road. Rich in money we are not; rich in other things we are. It does not matter what color the low income folks are- green, blue, yellow, red, white, black, hispanic, brazilian, etc; the FACT of the matter is this area in in deep decline- color is not the issue. Fool that you are, being in law enforcement for 13 years and all, you would certainly understand that even as little as five years ago Roswell Road was still halfway decent; now you must be more weary than before of your surroundings- and my guess is an officer of your caliber would know that seeing as how crime in the area went up rather than down; and this information was given out at the North Fulton Annex/precinct. So fools that we are according to you, maybe something can be done about the crime wave that is steadily on the rise in North Fulton/Fulton County. But since you can’t fathom coming to our area because of rich folks- who is the racist one now!

Dano, I am an African-American and I will be the first to tell you that color is not the issue; if you ask most African Americans (ask anyone for that matter) they WILL tell you that lower income families, be them white, or African-American, or Hispanic, or whatever, the neighborhoods/areas become destroyed; and yes MY people are partly to blame. My wife and I (thank the GOOD LORD) were able to sell our condo on Roswell Road. The association was/is having a hard time with trash, drugs, and yes even prostitution. How could this be in such affluent area, to be in such a struggle; SECTION 8 housing and renting to lower income families. When we bought there it was great; slowly it has become the hood or ghetto if you will; seeing as how us rich folks are fools and all……needless to say- you are the only racist or prejudice one I can see. By the way the lower income family that drove us out was white; just so you can say I am prejudice back; FORGET the COLOR, is it so wrong to want to live in a home you can be comfortable in and feel SAFE? Dano, I must tell you with people in law enforcement such as yourself, its no wonder the steps being taken are always BACKWARDS!

P.S. I am not overweight, and I don’t ride a bike. When bike-riders start following the rules of the road like vehicles (which is required), you won’t have to worry about being run over.
