The case of the mysterious flying wallet
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A woman reported that, while she was stopped at a red light on Medlock Bridge Road, a car pulled up behind and made contact with her car. The vehicle then drove around and beside her. Someone in Jeep threw a wallet that struck her.
She followed the Jeep, carrying four young person, and got the tag number. She was able to speak to the people in the Jeep. They said they didn’t mean to throw the wallet. The tag is listed to an address in Roswell. The case is being investigated.
You can tell these were kids. A woman gets hit with a wallet (that in itself is a mystery) and they later say they didn’t mean it. Once, after my older daughter kicked her sibling sister, I asked her why she did it. She replied: “I don’t know. I was standing there and my foot just flew up and kicked her.”
The wallet was turned into the evidence room and mom and dad will probably get a call soon.
Bartholomew the Brainiac
Bartholomew (we’ll call him), who frequents drug-activity areas, was told by the evening watch officer not to hang around the drug-activity area. Bartholomew, who never listens, returned to the area at about 2:30 a.m. He was seen by the morning watch officer who stopped to see what he was up to.
Bartholomew saw the officer and ran into the adjacent apartment complex. After a brief search, officers found him standing at the corner of Lake Placid and Roswell Road. They arrested him for disorderly conduct. Again, a case of mistaken assumption that the intersection of Lake Placid and Roswell Road is invisible.
All that for a measly haul
The victim said that he parked his car in the Summit Place Drive apartment parking lot, grabbed two bags of groceries and prepared to go inside. A white car pulled up and a man got out and threw him up against his car. The man told him, “Give me what you got or I will shoot you!” The offender took the victim’s wallet, pulled $11 cash from it and threw the wallet down. He got back in the car and left. This occurred just before 10 p.m.
Three Stooges had this tactic nailed
Two guys got into an argument over a parking space at a Roswell Road store. One poked the other with his finger. He was charged with simple battery and released on a copy of charges pending his July 11 court date.
Crime tip: If someone attempts to poke two fingers at you, simply straighten your hand and fingers to make them rigid. Hold them directly up to your nose with the thumb pressed against your nose and the little finger facing the angle of attack.
If all goes right, the suspect’s two fingers will land just short of your eyes.
