Bama-Florida winner to face Texas in BCS title game

When No. 3 Penn State lost to Iowa on Saturday, it basically set up a mini-playoff for the BCS championship game between the SEC and the Big 12. (USC fans, I haven’t forgotten you. The No. 6 Trojans can still get there, as I have mentioned below. But the odds are against you.) I’ve taken a little poetic license here but, based on what we know right now, here are my first projected BCS matchups. Feel free to disagree and provide your own.

1. BCS Championship: Alabama-Florida winner vs. Texas: Why Texas? That’s because No. 2 Texas Tech loses next week at Oklahoma (My friend Spencer Tillman, an Oklahoma grad, disagrees but I can’t see the Red Raiders winning in Norman, where Bob Stoops is 59-2 in 10 seasons.) Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma move up a notch in the BCS Standings. On championship Saturday the top five in the BCS are: 1) Alabama, 2) Texas, 3) Florida, 4) Oklahoma, 5) Texas Tech, 6) Southern Cal and 7) Utah . There will be a three-way tie for first place in the Big 12 South and Texas goes to the championship game because it has the highest BCS ranking. Texas beats Missouri for the second time this season and plays the SEC champ for all the marbles. Can No. 6 Southern Cal get there? Only if Florida loses to South Carolina or Florida State before the SEC championship game and then knocks off Alabama in Atlanta. That would open the door for the Trojans because the voters would not want a Texas-Oklahoma or a Texas-Texas Tech rematch.

2. Rose Bowl: Oregon State vs. Penn State: If it happens, this will be the mother of all nightmares for the boys from Pasadena. Oregon State opened the season 0-2 with a Pac-10 loss to Stanford (36-28) and a 45-14 thumping at Penn State. But since then the Beavers have only lost once to No. 7 Utah (31-28). If Oregon State (6-3, 5-1 Pac-10) wins its final three games against California (6-3), Arizona (6-3), and Oregon (7-3) it will go to the Rose Bowl because it beat Southern Cal (27-21) back on Sept. 25. The Rose Bowl not only gets a rematch, but it gets a Penn State team that lost out on a shot at the national championship on a last-second field goal at Iowa. If Oregon State trips up and it’s USC-Penn State, the Rose Bowl will be thrilled.

3. Sugar Bowl: Alabama-Florida loser vs. Oklahoma: Oklahoma finishes 11-1 with the only loss coming to Texas (45-35) on Oct. 11. If Alabama is No. 1 and wins the SEC championship, the Sugar Bowl will get the first pick in order to replace the SEC champion. It’s a great game either way: Alabama-Oklahoma is a traditional matchup with a great defense (Alabama) versus a great offense (Oklahoma). Florida-Oklahoma matches Sooner coach Bob Stoops with his former employer and creates a battle of two of the best offenses and quarterbacks (Tim Tebow and Sam Bradford) in college football.

4. Fiesta Bowl: Southern Cal vs. Utah: The Trojans will argue right up until Selection Sunday that they were the best one-loss team in the country. But ultimately the loss to Oregon State and a weak overall schedule will keep Southern Cal out of the BCS championship and out of the Rose Bowl. The Fiesta Bowl takes USC to replace the Big 12 champion (Texas) and matches the Trojans with undefeated Utah (12-0), which beats BYU in a hard-fought game on Nov. 22, to earn a bid as the Coalition (non-BCS) team.

5. Orange Bowl: North Carolina vs. West Virginia: Cincinnati (7-2) had a huge 26-23 win over West Virginia last Saturday but I just get the feeling that the Bearcats are going to trip up somewhere, either at Louisville Friday night or against Pittsburgh at home on Nov. 22. If that happens, then the winner of the Backyard Brawl between West Virginia and Pittsburgh (in Pittsburgh) on Nov. 28 wins the Big East. North Carolina will win the ACC Coastal and will beat Florida State or Wake Forest in the conference championship game. I could be wrong about Cincinnati. Coach Brian Kelly is going to get looks from a number of schools. This could be his springboard season.

I’d like to see Florida lose to Florida State, Bama lose to Auburn, Texas Tech lose to Oklahoma, Southern Cal lose again to Stanford, and the Big 12 South Champion lose to the Big 12 North champion. Put Utah in the BCS National Championship game where they get blown out by whoever is left and have every bowl game lose money and ratings because no one cares anymore. Maybe THEN we’ll get a freakin’ playoff.

By Rick

For starters, Auburn can only cross the goal line against high school teams (UT Martin) and Tech can’t seem to bow up against the good teams on their schedule. No, I’d say UGA should be alright with their offense even if their defense couldn’t stop anyone. In fact, UGA’s defense may even make Auburn’s offense look average instead of it’s usual pathetic.

And Maybe Tech gets to play in the Blue Carpet Bowl again this season, or in a brand-spanking-new start up Bowl whenever they finish the season by losing their remaining 2 games and finishing 7-5…..You know, the High School offense and all kinda got exposed by a fast and athletic defense on Saturday.

Not so fast with that UGA to Chick-fil-A Bowl talk. My boys are still pretty confident that the Dogs will be dancin’ in Nashville this year—-unless, of course, UGA opts to go to the Humanitarian Bowl instead.

By It's not a mini playoff

November 11, 2008 8:39 AM | Link to this

Why do all you self-proclaimed sports experts keep calling the current situation a “mini-playoff”? It’s not a mini-playoff if the SEC and Big 12 are playing within their own conference. A true playoff would match the champions of each major conference against each other. Florida and Alabama are the only two teams worth a crap in the SEC. The Big 12 has about 4 teams that are beating each other. I would love to see a 4-team playoff (however you match them up) between say Texas, Florida (or Bama), Southern Cal and Penn State. Yes, everyone is already shouting Southern Cal and Penn State have a loss against an unranked team (so does Florida) and they play in weak conferences; but love ‘em or hate ‘em, Southern Cal and Penn State are both very competitive in bowl games. If anything, it would legitimize all the arguments from fans of the Big 12 and SEC. As for you ACC, Big East, Moutain West, etc. fans…..ya’ll can uphold the current bowl system while the big boys play for the prize. We can even have the Notre Dame team work the concession stands.

I disagree about USC. Their loss was earlier in the season and they have been impressive in all their other wins. The media loves USC and I expect to begin hearing the politicing coming from the west coast any day. I see Texas Tech beating OU, but tripping on Mizzu in the Big-12 championship. Florida squeaks by Bama and it’s FLA v USC.

Georgia should be happy about any bowl we get and hope that we can put together an O-line for it.

Tony,

You are making an big assumption that after beating TT(and OK St), OK will not jump over Texas in the rankings. Wins vs TT and OK St will help their computer ranking more than Texas’ wins over Kansas and Texas A&M. Throw a Utah loss in there and the computer rankings get pretty close.

Will he humans keep OU ranked below UT because of the head to head loss?

Look at the polls. 2 SEC and 3 Big 12 ahead of USC. Only one team will win its conference (and we all know how important THAT is) so if Mizzu pulls out the Big 12 championship (and they do have a chance especially in a rematch) then USC gets to match up against FL/Bama winner. Mizzu will NOT jump 11 spots by winning the Big 12. I look forward to an SEC/PAC-10 championship game so that we can put that conference arguement to bed.

With the Fiesta being an anchor bowl for the Big 12 and having two potential 1-loss teams from that conference, why do you think they’d let one of them drop to the Sugar in favor of selecting USC? The Fiesta takes Oklahoma or Texas Tech first, and then USC, leaving the Sugar to pick from Utah or WVU/Pitt.

It is since the only 2 major conferences are playing. I would like to see the Big 12 and SEC Champs play every year for the NC. Other than USC getting lucky a year or two in a bottom feeder conference it’s pretty much been that way for a decade.

You can scream all you want, but Florida will put a whoop azz on pretty much anyone they step on the field with right now. SoCal is playing JV teams to make their defense look good, not a speck of defense in the Big 12, the Big 10 is battling the Big East for who can underachieve the best and the SEC has only 4 teams worth a dayum. UGA fans are screaming obout their lousy defense, but guess who gives up more yardage than them? Yep, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Texas. Florida is running on all 12 cylinders and slapping everyone around. Who’s next! GO GATORS!

Florida will BATTER Alabama in the SECCG. They have a good defense but don’t have the speed, firepower or weapons that Florida has at their disposal. Should be something like 38-10 GATORS! Can we all agree that Tony is the leader of the SEC Kool-Aid Gang??

Remember his fabulous forecasts of his beloved UGA beating Bama, beating UF?? Mr. College Football should change his moniker to Mr. SEC Homer. It would have more credibility.

And, if not a SEC team, then it’s TX or OK. Oh, and then there was the “Penn State is a lock” prediction. This passes for journalism??

What Tony conveniently overlooks is TxTech is REALLY THAT GOOD, but I guess Tony’s TV doesnt get ABC where they televised the OK-TX, TX-TexTech, and OkSt-TxTech games. His TV obviously only gets one channel..the SEC channel.

TxTech & OK have both won against Kansas, K-State, and Nebraska this year. However, OK lost to TX, and TxTech beat TX. That doesnt guarantee anything but it would be reporting based on FACTS.

But, Tony cant be bothered with facts. Notice he doesnt even have TxTech(with a possible Heisman winner in QB Harrell) going to ANY of the BCS bowls. Thats some serious Bull$$$$!! But, I have come to expect nothing but Bull$$$$ from Tony anyway.

The best the SEC has to offer is NO MATCH for the Big 12 South. Period. And, neither Bama nor UF could even stay on the field with TxTech. But Tony’s not gonna tell you that. He’ll just offer more Kool-Aid.

You can hold your rhetorical BU!!$H!T, and just look at the record. USC is far and away the most dominate team in college football since Carrols 2nd season in 2002. Never finishing worst than #4.

I won’t quote all the NCAA records Carroll and the Trojans have set these past 6 years, you homers need practice researching facts; something you must have never learned while (if) attending the colleges you cheer for.

Rick you are counting your chickens before they are hatched. While the Gators are an outstanding team on offense, they are still only good on defense and can be beat i.e. Ole Miss. IMHO you still have to beat the Ole Ball Coach this weekend and I think it is going to be a close game. They are a great defensive team and an improving offensive team. I also believe they match up well with the Gators speed wise.

As for BCS national championship games still too many games to play and as we saw last year anything can and usually does happen.

Old GT Nut, Texas Tech can’t keep up with the speed or has the same caliber of athlete in as many numbers as Florida. Texas Tech will look like they are playing in mud when/if they step on the field with Florida. It might be close for a quarter or two, but TTech will simply be over run.

“SEC stands for Speed Eliminates Competition. You either have it or you’re chasing it.”

A lot of pretty good coaches, including a rather well know from the SEC (Bear Bryant) have said defense wins championships.

Unless you have been standing with your head buried in the sand, you have to know nobody has the defensive team speed the real USC has. The Trojan’s don’t need to score a bunch, their defense keeps them in the game, only 1 team all year has scored 2 touchdowns on USC.

USC defense against the offensive speed of Florida would be the best game to watch, and these two teams would win if we had a true playoff.

Old GT Nut being a Dawg fan first, I still pull for GT when they are not playing GA. My grandfather graduated from GT as an Electrical Engineer, but you need to stop the hating on the SEC, the other schools in the SEC tried to talk Coach Dodd and the President/Chancellor I believe of GT out of leaving the SEC but they wouldn’t listen. IMHO Alabama or Florida match up well with those teams from the Big 12 and like I posted before it is not a done deal as to who will be in Miami this year, still too much football left to be played and like we saw last year anything can still and usually does happen.

Tony,

I don’t know how in the world you can go against Texas Tech. They scored 7 straight times against OKST and they beat Texas. If they had scored 7 straight tds aginst my beloved Dawgs, I could understand why you are not impressed. I would pick TT just because of their offensive line. Those guys are animals!! Can you imagine Stafford and Moreno behind those guys!! Then we wouldn’t need a defense or a punter.

I respect your opinions as a journalist, but your love affair with Spurrier is nauseating! I think he has proven he is a mediocre coach at best. The talent he had at fla and the lack of coaching UGA had during the 90s was a disaster waiting to happen. I believe he went 4-8 against FSU when Richt was there. and now he is 1-3 vs Richt at UGA. Fla will beat them by 30 because his rotating qb offense can’t score. We scored 14 on them and fla is 46 points better than we are. No contest!!

I hate that you picked Oregon St, because I started pulling for them three weeks ago. This is a good story. A 5’8” running back who took down the mighty Trojans is leading his team to the Rose Bowl. I love it!!

Rick,

Fla. can certainly beat Bama but if you think you’re going to blow us out 38-10 then you really need to put down your kool-aid. We really haven’t had a close game except for LSU which BTW was more jacked for this game than probably any home game in their history(new attendance record). Kentucky scored a consolation td with 30 seconds left to give the impression the game with Bama was close. We outgained them over 2 to 1 in yardage and we did everything imaginable from untimely penalties to untimely turnovers and missed field goals to keep the score close. Ditto with Ole Miss which is more than what you can say since they beat you in your own house! You blew out Kentucky because they were missing 6 key starters and basically gave up after a couple quick blocked punts for tds. Same thing with UGA, which was in the game until they committed so many self inflicted errors that the dam eventually broke. Tim Tebow is going to be going against the best defense he’s seen all year. Trust me when I tell you the Bama D is a tad tougher than the Ole Miss D that held UF to 20. It should be a great game that either team can win and will come down to who makes the least number of mistakes(penalties, turnovers)but I can promise you aint gonna be blowing out Bama.

  2. Fiesta Bowl: OK vs. Ohio State (Big 12 #3 vs Big 10 #3) (OK is 1-1 all time vs. Ohio St) Yeah, I know, OK sucked in 2006(Boise St) & 2007(WV) Fiesta Bowls.

  3. Orange Bowl: UNC vs. Penn State ACC #1 vs. Big 10 #2. JOPA has made many trips to Miami in years past.

  4. Rose Bowl: Michigan State vs. USC (Big 10 #1 vs. Pac 10 #1)

  5. Sugar Bowl: Bama vs. TX (Nick Saban vs Mac Brown) In 8 attempts, Bama has never beaten TX. This would be THE SEC vs Big 12 game of the year.

  6. Gator Bowl: VT vs. Pitt (ACC #3 vs Big East #1) Former Big East opponents

  7. Peach(chik-fil-a) Bowl: FSU vs LSU (ACC #2 vs. SEC #3) Atlanta Chamber of Commerce would LOVE this one. Les Miles vs his old LSU OC Jimbo Fisher.

No matter how much we ‘p* and moan’ about the defensive results, CMR’s right, it’s a team thing - turnovers, penalties, special-teams breakdowns. These kids and coaches have us at, or near, the top of the best conference in college football. We’re the third-best team behind the #1 and #3 rated teams in the country, and that’s pretty damn good. Would I like to be higher, shoot yeah, but riding the coaches and players is a stupid thing to do. Remember, it could be worse, we could be Tennessee, Auburn or Clemson.

Lighten up folks and enjoy finishing with (and off) AU, GT and whoever we play in the Outback Bowl - that is where the #3 SEC team goes, right? Of course we could get ‘aced out’ by the Outback selection folks and they’ll pick LSU - they don’t like us much down there, particularly since we beat the Outback’s CEO’s beloved UK, which means Atlanta and the Chik Bowl against…FSU? For those crowing about UGA in the Outback and LSU in the Peach…forget it.

UGA is bound for Orlando and LSU is headed to Dallas. The only thing that would stop this is to have SC beat Florida in the Swamp and UGA to trip up, frankly, I don’t see either one happening. Oherwise, enjoy the matchups.

Here’s a news flash. Most USC fans are hoping Oregon State wins out and put’s a whoopin on PSU in a rematch.

We would prefer the at-large bid. It would be our please facing a representative form the SEC, or Big 12, but the SEC would be sweater.

I’ll make you two bets right now. Whoever USC plays, USC will either be favored to win or lose by 7 or less. Second USC will win against whoever they play in whatever bowl, by 14 or more.

Hint; USC hasn’t lost by more than 7 points in any game since 2001.

In the 5 BCS bowls USC has won, their average margin of victory is 23 (never by less than 14), their only BCS Bowl loss was the 2005 NC against Texas, by 3.

You must realize you cannot win a hypothetical argument based on the stats, they favor USC. The best and only way is for these teams to play. USC would welcome the opportunity, what say the SEC?

To USC Fans Pete Carroll has done a great job, no one argues that. But, the facts are, you lose games that you should not! All the numbers you guys are throwing around (Heisman’s, etc.) are all well and good, but that’s not the issue here. A team as “unstoppable” as USC should never be in that position. You can beat up on Wazoo 188 to 0 or whatever. However if you lose in Corvalis, or to Stanford at home, or UCLA, when everyone keeps talking about how great you are, then you have no argument. By the way, I believe it was the SEC calling for the playoffs, only to be held back by the PAC-10 and “Big” 10(11). Also, as I recall, there was a certain local team that asked for a shot at the rose bowl last year only to be turned away. So don’t go saying that everyone “fears” the Trojans.

By G8R GRAD Scared?

We know that UGA fears the Trojans, I didn’t realize the Gators do.

Don’t worry your team speed matches up well with the Trojans. Tebow’s mobility would give the Trojans defense fits. I think you could definitely stay ion the game, maybe even win by a field goal, unless the SC offense in on; if the offense is on, SC would hang forty or more on you, and I just don’t see you scoring more than 31 against this defense.

“I believe it was the SEC calling for the playoffs”

I may be wrong, but I think the SEC Commissioner did not support playoffs. Just Google Pete Carroll and playoffs, Pete has come out in the National press.

The Rose Bowl is UCLAs home field, so whatever the Rose Bowl commission may do doesn’t reflect on USC.

Both UGA and USC would have taken part in a game that was being arranged, and the NCAA would not sanction it.

Can’t argue, the Trojans find a way to lose in conference almost every year, and this year with the SOS they have it, will cost them. But that hasn’t always been the case this is by far the worst year I can remember for the PAC 10 in over 40 years of watching. But don’t forget, Florida lost at home to Ole Miss, so neither is “without sin”.

I can tell you this, the SC offence is not playing at the same level as this time last year, but this is some defense. They are playing on a level rarely seen. Nobody carries the ball or catches it against this defense without paying the toll, they are fast and hit everything that moves (the refs have called them for it often). IMO this is the best defense in the country, right now; and I believe Florida may be the best offense.

I can’t know what will happen here in the last few weeks, but I would agree with an earlier post, I would much rather see USC vs the SEC than Big 10, Florida or Alabama would make for a much better game than Penn State or Ohio State.

SEC has 3 NC (3 different coaches)in the last 7 years, should’ve been a 4th when the 04’ auburn team went undefeated (never again will an undefeated SEC team be snubbed, AUburn had 2 top 5 picks and 5 first rounders in that draft, all are starting in the NFL) with Bama/Fla. most likely winning again this year. I won’t bore you and everyone else with stats (unless you want me to). I’ll only say that your answers are available just take a look.

You need to overlook you bias and just consider the record. You seem to be trying to equate one seasons week SOS to the past 7 years (Carroll’s tenure at USC), nothing could be further form the truth. After a 6-6 start at USC Carroll has the best record in the NCAA, the highest winning percentage of any coach with at least 5 years of coaching.

This is the weakest schedule USC has played since they had the NCAA #1 SOS in 2002.

They are 12-2 against teams ranked in the top 10 since Carroll came.

Don’t let your bias or ignorance make you sound like a moron. Take a look at Carroll’s bio it’s all there.

And on the subject of the 2004 Auburn team, I agree they were ripped off, OU didn’t deserve the shot that year, USC beat them 55-19. I don’t know if USC would have beet Auburn or not, nobody will ever know; that USC team did win 36 games in a row and set the record for the longest period at #1.

Old GT nut, are you serious about those bowl projections? 1) OSU goes to the Rose if MSU beats PSU based on the head to head matchup. 2) You can’t have three Big 10 or Big 12 teams in the 5 BCS bowls. If Texas Tech is in, Oklahoma is out, even though it would be nice to see all three of them in big games.

By Chris

November 11, 2008 3:33 PM | Link to this

Tony, while Texas could very well win the 3-way tie breaker however it is more likely that OU will win it provided they win out. Let’s not forget that TTech was ranked #10 in the computers, defeated Texas by 6 and then jumped all the way to #1 in the computers, (#2 in the polls).

Now factor in a road game against #11 Ok-State, (computer ranking), who will be a Top 10-12 team at that time and OU could expect the same kind of jump as Texas finishes up their season against an average Kansas team, (who could very well beat them) and then a woeful Texas A&M team, (who has defeated Texas the previous 2 seasons).

Texas can complain that it is not fair since they defeated OU, however TTech defeated them therefore the logic that “OU can not be ranked higher than Texas” works against Texas as well as TTech should then fall to #3 and knock Texas back to #4.

OU will again roll Mizzou in the Big XII title game and then it is on to Miami to play either Bama or FLorida for all the marbles.

The Feista/Sugar bowl will talk and hopefully we will get a TTech/Texas vs Bama/Florida game.

Again, the most interesting matchup would be FL v USC and that could happen. Of the 5 teams in front of USC, 2 are SEC and 3 are Big 12. Only 1 SEC school will get by and only 1 Big 12 school will get by (both conference champs - apparently VERY important criteria) if Texast Tech wins out they’re in (I think Oklahoma upsets them) either way, Mizzu is waiting in the championship game from the North. If Mizzu wins (not unlikely in a re-match) USC is in — and F#ck Florida.

I think you’d score more than 10 against USC, maybe 12 of course they might not back off at 49 — and F#ck Florida.

GeezusDawg:

How do you figure?

Either UF or Bama will still outrank USC after the SECCG.

On strength of schedule alone (without an extra and monumentally difficult conference championship game) they both go before you.

Enjoy the Rose Bowl, moron.

and GO GATORS!

GeezusDawg:

Sorry, I misread your blog.

Would you UGA Bulldogs just please get over this year’s game?

It was two weeks ago!

Let it go, people!

South Carolina is a fine defensive team. If Fla. lights up the scoreboard on them, then they are hats off the best team in the land. Don’t be suprised if the Cocks slow down that Gator offense. I don’t think they can move the ball on offense, but they will keep the game close on “D”.

You have to be a Gator fan as it should be apparent from my name that I am a UGA fan. The result of my scenario above would match the SEC champ against USC (if Mizzu wins the Big 12) which (IMO) would be a far more interesting game.

BTW, I believe that florida is the only major university (and possibly minor) to have an official mascot that is not a word (i.e. “gators”) it should be “alligators”. H3ll even the Banana Slugs are real.

GeezusDawg:

Oh, and good luck with that scenario.

Missouri doesn’t stand a chance against an Oklahoma (TTU loses this weekend in Norman) or a Texas.

Mascot not a word? Gators is like Dawgs, both are shortened versions. Of course Dawgs is such a real word too.

49-10!!

Ok, I’ve read through all the crap and this is how it is. If the current #1 and #2 win out they will and should play for the title, done.

If Florida wins out beating Bama in the SEC CCG, they should replace Bama in the title game. If Florida loses before the SEC Championship and beats Bama in the Championship both are out.

If TT loses, Texas loses again or or OU loses again all are out.

If USC wins out and everyone above loses 1 more, They are in.

Before you whiners get you little panties in a bunch, all your team has to do it win. If your cream puff manages to win the games on their schedule nothing changes, lose your out, got it? f-ing cry babies.

Now stop your b!tching, and shake a veteran’s hand for God sake.

Q: How do you frustrate a Georgia fan?

A: Paint his d!ck orange and blue and tell him he can’t beat it but thrice in 19 years!

The passion and ferver that all involved display for their respective teams is great (for the most part) and in the end there will be some who will complain and some who will cheer. But the fact is no matter how much we all crow for our respective team someone will find fault, that is to be expected. But I really think all will agree and any who don’t well I’ll withold comment except to suggest you go visit an eye doc real quick, the USC Song Girls are lights out FINE!!! They trully are the class of all college football. Those smiles, those sweaters, those LEGS!!!! Fight On!!!!

GHOST OF ERK RUSSELL, true Texas high school football is great but a lot of those kids are chomping at the bit to be a part of Coach Carrolls stable! SoCal will win NC’s several times over and y’all will just have to settle for the ones Pete doesn’t want or need. (NC’s/players) Don’t forget that Cali high school football churns out a full crop of great players year in and year out.

In SEC, the 10th worst offense(Auburn) going against 11th worst total scoring defense(UGA) anything can happen. Auburn is too thin in scars and moral to win against a talent offense…UGA 37 Auburn 10. Hopefully we can get back on right track in 2009…VERY DISAPPOINTED, BUT STILL A WAR EAGLE

G8R GRAD, Now that last statement about painting blue and orange shows that you are a low low lower even lower class jack a@@.
Most UGA fans are over the game, but you FLA fans cry for year over last year. Go get some class writing things like that shows what kind of person you are. You must be a friend of the two Fla players that beat up on people and their girlfriends, but do not get put off the team until after the game. NOW THAT’S CLASS. No one wants to read you trash, so go stick your head back in that hole you came out of. What goes around comes around and you mouth makes other Fla fans look bad. Nothing but bad luck for you. Fact: TT is one of the hardest teams to prepare for from a defensive perspective….if you don’t see them every year, you will typically lose…that’s why they win their bowl games

Fact: in 2 games vs. UT and OSU, TT the MOST penalized team in the Big 12 to that point, ran 109 offensive plays without ONE holding call; their OL was literally tackling UTs DL and as a result of one of them UT’s AA DL was injured….it’s complete BS!! When/If officials start calling holding (which is a necessary function of the type of offense they run) , they will have 150 yards in penalties called…and NO, we’re not talking the average, every team holds type infractions…we’re talking about horsecollaring, blatant face raking and face masking….it’s unlike anything i’ve ever seen…. all that, and UT playing TT in Lubbock, their 4th top 11 team in as many weeks, and playing a terrible 1st half, it took a dropped, sure INT by UTs DB and a last second miracle for TT to be UT…..

Fact: How can OU (who UT beat) and UF (who lost AT HOME to and UNRANKED opponent) be ahead of UT in the Coache’s Poll?? When UT lost, on the road, to a 6th ranked, undefeated, TT team , who won by a series of misguided flukes.. UF has yet to beat a top 5 team…. UT beat #1, #11, #7 in 3 STRAIGHT WEEKS…….

Fact: Assuming both win out…..it should be UT v. UF for the MNC….just need bloU to beat the Sand Aggies of TT….

Go GT Basketball and Football…and UGA Football….. (whats wrong with having a favorite team in 2 different conferences??)

Thank God Hoops has March Madness….. because the Bcs SUCKS!!
All you fans who go to these meaningless bowl games…. STOP It seems at this point only not attending the bowl games will get their attention.

Spread the word, and make change happen, until then your sport will always be a JOKE compared to the NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL, and College Basketball. You know… the sports that have a REAL CHAMPION at the end.

Yes we can agree Tony is a big SEC kool aid drinker. His predictions this year have been less then spectacular and I look for him to hit more pot holes before it is over. UF is going to lose to FSU in Tallahassee so that will ruin part of his equation. Texas Tech could lose but haven’t seen a reason to think they will. TT has been playing and beating highly ranked teams right and left.
