The Fearless Friday Forecast
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Ouch.
We were 6-4 last week and some of those losses really hurt.
I wasn’t surprised that Alabama beat Georgia. I was very surprised that the Crimson Tide led 31-0 at halftime. Double ouch if you picked the Bulldogs at home.
The other losses were surprises.
Who knew that Florida was going to turn it over three times (two by Tim Tebow) and lose to Ole Miss 31-30 in The Swamp?
Who knew that Navy was going to force Wake Forest, one of the best schools in the country when it comes to turnover margin, into six turnovers?
Who knew that North Carolina could go to Miami without its starting quarterback (T.J. Yates of Marietta) and still find a way to win?
Who knew that four of the top nine and nine out of the Top 25 were going to lose?
That’s the great thing about college football. You don’t know. Something totally unpredictable is going to happen on Saturday and I can’t wait to see what it will be. That is why your humble prognosticator has been 6-4 the past two weeks and is 37-13 after five weeks. Still, we press on and are proud to bring you another award-winning edition of the Fearless Friday Forecast.
1. Duke (3-1) at Georgia Tech (3-1): Back in the summer, we didn’t give this game much thought. Now it is a very significant outing for both teams. Duke, whose only loss is to 5-0 Northwestern, is playing with some confidence under new coach David Cutcliffe. But the Blue Devils, who can move the football with QB Thaddeus Lewis and WR Eron Riley (of Savannah), have not seen a defensive front like Georgia Tech’s. And we might also mention that this is Duke’s first road game of the season. The Blue Devils have lost 16 straight ACC road games dating back to a 2003 win at North Carolina. That barely qualifies as a road game because it’s about a 15-minute bus ride to Chapel Hill. Duke has not won in Atlanta since 1994.
If Georgia Tech doesn’t turn the ball over the Yellow Jackets should be in pretty good shape for this one. But if QB Jaybo Shaw, who starts while Josh Nesbitt nurses a bad hamstring, struggles and the ball goes on the ground, it could go down to the wire. Georgia Tech 28, Duke 17.
2. Kentucky (4-0) at Alabama (5-0): The Crimson Tide is coming off a pretty severe beat down of Georgia in Athens. Coach Nick Saban has warned, until he is Crimson in his face, about complacency, especially against a Kentucky defense that allows only 5.5 points per game. The Kentucky defense, led by LB Braxton Kelley of LaGrange and Trevard Lindley of Hiram, is very good but honesty compels us to mention that the Wildcats haven’t really been tested in their non-conference schedule. Alabama plays big boy football and if the Tide protects QB John Parker Wilson, it should roll for most of the afternoon. Alabama 24, Kentucky 7.
3. Auburn (4-0) at Vanderbilt (4-0): The Commodores have a lot of play for. They haven’t been 5-0 since 1943. ESPN’s College Game Day is in Nashville for the first time. A win would make Vanderbilt 3-0 in the SEC and put the ‘Dores to within one victory of qualifying for their first bowl game since 1982. It’s tempting to take Bobby Johnson’s team at home because they are so fundamentally sound. But the Auburn defense is very, very good and the offense, we’re told, is going to get back to basics on Saturday. It will probably be an ugly game, as most of them have been for Auburn this season. Tommy Tuberville specializes in winning ugly games. Auburn 17, Vanderbilt 10.
4. Florida (3-1) at Arkansas (2-2): The Gators may still be in a state of shock after losing to Ole Miss at home last season. But they have to snap out of it and travel to Fayetteville. Arkansas is not very good on defense, having given up 101 points (to No. 2 Alabama and No. 5 Texas) in its past two games. Florida needs to get its ducks in a row because No. 3 LSU comes to The Swamp on Oct. 11. Look for Urban Meyer to take out his frustrations on Bobby Petrino, who probably won’t get a lot of sympathy in this part of the world as the Hogs lost their third straight. Florida 45, Arkansas 10.
5. South Carolina (3-2) at Ole Miss (3-2): The Rebels now have to show they can come back and focus after one of the biggest wins in recent years. Houston Nutt has his first signature win as the head coach at Ole Miss and wants to build on it by beating a South Carolina team that is getting a little desperate. The Gamecocks have the nation’s No. 1 defense but, as coach Steve Spurrier readily admits, the offense is not keeping up their end of the deal. Chris Smelley will start at quarterback but look for Spurrier to give a long look to redshirt freshman QB Stephen Garcia. Garcia can move to avoid the rush, which is something both South Carolina quarterbacks will have to do. I get the feeling this one will be close. Ole Miss 21, South Carolina 20.
6. Northern Illinois (2-2) at Tennessee (1-3): Things are starting to get pretty ugly in Big Orange Country. I would say that Tennessee’s offense is shooting itself in the foot, but I’m not sure this crowd could hit its own foot. Coach Phillip Fulmer will announce his starting quarterback at some point on Friday but in my mind he has no choice but to give Nick Stephens a shot and hope for the best against the Huskies. You just can’t ask Jonathan Crompton to take the first snap in this game at home because, like it or not, the crowd will boo and the game will begin a negative note. Tennessee must find some answers before next week’s trip to Georgia. The Vols will win, but will they be ugly doing it? Tennessee 28, Northern Illinois 14.
7. Florida State (3-1) at Miami (2-2): Remember when this used to be the biggest game on the planet Earth? Now it barely moves the needle on the excitement meter. Both of these teams need a win to prove that their programs are finally headed in the right direction. Florida State found a running game in beating Colorado while Miami struggled in the second half and lost to North Carolina. This will be a hard fought game because the kids know each other so well. I just think Florida State comes up with one more play in the fourth quarter. Florida State 17, Miami 14.
8. Maryland (4-1) at Virginia (1-3): Remember when Maryland got beat by Middle Tennessee State and everybody wrote the Terps off? Now Ralph Friedgen’s troops have beaten California at home, Clemson on the road and are starting to get a little confidence. Virginia, meanwhile, was tied with Duke 3-3 at halftime last week and collapsed and lost 31-3. With Clemson struggling, the ACC Atlantic is wide open. Why not the Terps? Maryland 31, Virginia 10.
9. Ohio State (4-1) at Wisconsin (3-1): The Buckeyes feel like they are making some progress now that RB Beanie Wells is healthy and freshman QB Terrelle Pryor is starting to find his comfort zone. But it didn’t help coach Jim Tressel when Wisconsin blew a 19-0 halftime lead and lost at Michigan last week. The Badgers, who have won 16 straight home games at Camp Randall Stadium, will be very focused for this one. The loser pretty much knows that it is out of the Rose Bowl picture. Wisconsin has won 21 of its last 22 night games and the Badgers will win this one. Wisconsin 24, Ohio State 23.
10. Texas (4-0) at Colorado (3-1): A good time to play Texas is the week before the Longhorns go to Dallas to play Oklahoma. It will be hard to get the Texas players to focus on the Buffs with the No. 1 team in the nation waiting on deck. But Texas will be fine because Colt McCoy is one of the hottest quarterbacks in the country and the defense is playing with an attitude under new DC Will Muschamp. McCoy has thrown for 14 touchdowns and run for four more. He has only thrown one interception in four games. The Texas defense has 14 sacks in its last two games. Texas 31, Colorado 10.

Can’t really disagree with any of your picks, Tony. FSU-Miami and SC-Ole Miss are probably toss ups and could go either way.
Tech needs a strong win to prove to themselves that the progress they’ve made is not fluke. They will. 34-17 Jackets

What? No game this week for the Dawgs? Too bad, I was looking forward to their next loss of the season. What overhyped garbage of a team for losing at home to a baby laden bammer team. Just wait until they start playing the big boys, AU, LSU, UF etc…….

“Chalk” Barnhart: 10 picks, 9 favorites? I think the only “upset” you picked is Wisconsin which really wouldn’t be an upset. (maybe FSU is an upset…not sure but the line can’t be much)
Please stop posting your record. It’s becoming absurd. Use the line and make your picks.
I need to go back and see what you said last week about Ole Miss facing Florida. It was priceless….

Well…
I see that Roswell Ed is back on his medication. I thought that you might go out on a limb and pick Vandy for the upset Tony.
Upset watch includes both Auburn and Georgia Tech this Saturday. But, like you said, you just never know.
If Alabama overlooks any 4-0 team — then they deserve to lose.

Found it….this classic from last week:
*”The Gators made it look a little too easy last week against Tennessee and as a result they can pretty much put it on cruise control for the next two weeks against Ole Miss and Arkansas (Oct. 4 in Fayetteville). *
Tony….do you watch the games???? Ole Miss has looked good in every game this year and is stout in the trenches. I’m not saying I picked Ole Miss to win this game but “cruise control” vs. Ole Miss? Please….
Your comments on most these games are generally generic. “Favorite will win this game but if underdog gets a few turnovers, things could look different.”
Ya think?

Tony, everybody who knows how over rated the SEC is, would not be surprised by the “upsets” last week.
Just because the SEC sells out their stadiums with drunken obnoxious fans, doesn’t mean their football team is great.
The media is in the SEC’s pocket when it comes to football, just like they are when it comes to Obama. You’ll never admit it, but deep down you know it’s true.
Go Vanderbilt 4-0 keep exposing it.
The best team in Georgia will score 28 on Duke somewhere in the 2nd quarter.

Let’s see now….
“Mr. College Football” picked: UGA 21 Bama 17.
“Mr. College Football” picked: GT 17 MissSt 10
Tony is such an SEC/UGA homer that it truly distorts his writing.
Duke beat a wretched, wretched UVA team that gave up 6 horrible TOs. Duke gave up 207 yds rushing, 150 yds passing and 31 pts to a Navy team that lost its starting QB in the 2nd Qtr.
This game wont be close: GT 48 Duke 19.
ESPN Game Day is at Vandy for only one purpose…to see the SEC get embarrassed…AGAIN…just like last week, showing a “premier” UGA get DESTROYED in front of a national TV audience. AU rolls in this one, that way ESPN can carve-up the the SEC again, like last week.
FSU is STILL a train wreck. Miami will CRUSH Felony State U. Miami 35 FSU 17.

I am getting the impression that if you pick a favored team to win a game, then that renders your judgment unsound.
Perhaps if you simply pick the underdog to win every game — then you will become a genius in the eyes of your readers!

GT-
Understand your hate for UGA but I don’t get your SEC embarrassed comments. They have the #2 team in the Country and if UGA would have won they would have been at least #2. The SEC is not embarrassed they are beating up on each other and thats why a 2 loss LSU team went to the BCS game last year. Basically if you can make it through the SEC with only one/two loss you deserve to be in the BCS championship game.

1- Duke is a paper tiger, Tech in a laugher. If tech loses they give away a great chance to get themselves an ACC title, which Clemson seems to be throwing away as fast as they can. I don’t get Tommy Bowden. I don’t think I have seen a coach do less with more talent since Fulmer in 2005. 2- UK has little offense and Bama has a huge D line and good LBs. If John Parker keeps his head in the game it’s a blowout. 3- I did not like Tubbs’ statement about his OC. I don’t blame him for making changes, but they could have been made behind closed doors. AU should still win, for all their success Vandy is last in the SEC in offensive and defensive production. 4- I think the Gators score in the fifties and Tebow stays in the game untill late in the 4th qt. 5- Smelly will start and the Gamecocks D will keep it close. SOS evidently did not like to way Garcia looked at practice. The question is which Smelly will show up? If Smelly starts hitting the short passes USCe wins, if Smelly starts throwing to the other guys they lose. 6- UT gets a win and a chance to break in a new QB. How about a new offensive scheme, like getting behind that veteran line that the Vols have and running the ball? 7- I think there is some confusion amoung the ‘Noles. I am picking the U in this one. 8- UVA is a terrible team and every gambler I know says you should never try to pick an upset. So I am picking an upset in this one. That is why I should never be allowed to place a bet! Damn, UVA has to win sometimes, don’t they? 9- I was suprised by the Badgers play in the second half against Big Blue. I think they got a fair lead and quit. OSU will not Quit, and with Wells and Pryor they have some offense. OSU wins. 10- Gotta go with Texas, better team. Period.

Roswell Ed,
I went to a high school game last night, and the teams I saw have a better offense than AU.
I was wondering how long it was going to take before Ears threw another coach under the bus.
If they played tomorrow, Georgia would beat AU by at least 3 touchdowns. By the way, we own your team right now.

Georgia fans are living on hash or lsd if they think this is a very good football team. Alabama pushed them around in the first half, and if Bama hadnt gotten conservative in the second half they could have named the score. Georgia is totally over rated. Their offensive and defensive lines are totally average at best. No show Moreno doesnt play very well against a good defensive line, and Stafford is a train wreck. Goes to show, if you read your press clippings you start having illusions. Georgia will lose three games this year.

Auburn had a lucky defensive touchdown against LSU..LSU would have won much easier if not for that.. Of Course Tech will beat Duke..Duke still sucks..and the entire ACC is terrible..the worst conference in the country.. Auburn also had a gift defensive touchdown against Tenn and should have lost at home again. They will get beat by Vandy in Nashville. Tenn is not as bad as they seem. statisically they were not that bad against Florida and had Auburn. Georgia is much better after a loss under Richt and they will get more and more dangerous as the season goes.. Go Dawgs

And Roswell Ed, I love the enthusiasm, but Auburn’s O is a train-wreck right now. And UGA has put two straight beatdowns on your war eagles, so I’m really not sure what you’re bragging about.
As for last week’s game, yes it was ugly. But Alabama may have the best OL and DL in the SEC.
And Techster trashes UGA and calls them average and overrated. Yet, he says UGA will lose 3 games this year. Funny how going 9-3 in the best conference in the land is supposed to make for an overrated team. GT woul KILL to go 9-3 or better every year.

I love watching the replay of the mutt fans at the bama game. Kids crying, hands on top of heads, babies being sacrificed, drunk sorority sluts puking, frat guys crying in their beer, all of them looking astonished in their cute matching black outfits. Too funny.
Of course now everyone comments on how the mutts will be better with one loss, and they want to even go back to last year to bring up stats. Newsflash: that was last year. This year, you have been unimpressive in your victories, and got your arse kicked by bama, at home, during a blackout. 31-0 at halftime, jesus, Climpson didn’t even get beat that bad. And any replys about how you came back in the second half are garbage. You didn’t dominate that half, and you certainly didn’t win it 31-10. Bama felt bad for you pathetic mutts, and stopped playing because the game was out of reach, and then when they needed to score again, they walked right in.

ESPN WANTS to see the another undefeated SEC team get pounded. Why? Because it continues to make the SEC look way over-rated. Vandy gets pounded by an AU team that struggled against an incompetent TN team, and could only get 3 points on a MissSt team that put 24 on LSU. So, Vandy beats Ole Miss, and Ole Miss beats “highly touted” FL.

And only at Auburn would there be a tradition where all the in-breeds get to do what they do best, roll a house with toilet paper.

As a dawgs fan, I admit that we were beaten badly last weekby Alabama, but for a ACC, Tech fan to comment on how the SEC and Georgia are overrated and how Georgia is the 2nd best team in Ga. is a joke. Unless, of course, you consider Ga. Southern or Valdosta State the best team. Certainly, you aren’t talking about Ga. Tech. If so, there goes the myth about Techies being smarter.

What a d*uche. He’s oblivious to the fact that his pathetic Barner team got worked by a LSU squad that isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and they just might get WORKED by Vandy this weekend. SPREAD 4 LIFE BABY!!! Idiot.

Ok…This is the week that Tech fans will be able to find out how much Paul Johnson’s intensity and mind set has affected this program. In the past 6 years, this is the type of game in which Tech either falls behind early and has to play catch up or they loose at the wire.
I personally think that Tech needs to win this game by more that 20 if they want to continue the transition from competitor to contender.

Well, what do I know? I bet on both Florida and Georgia last week … . Here are this week’s fallible picks:
(1) Tech wins, but perhaps by fewer than 10. Duke is improved, and so is Tech. Both are running on team motivation and inspired by a new coach. Both teams still have a long way to go to be nationally competitive programs, but Duke has the longer path.
(2) Bama over Kentucky, but it may not be a blowout. Tide players may still be a little down after the emotional blowout in Athens, but the Tide talent should still overwhelms the Wildcats.
(3) Nothing against Auburn, but I sure would like to see Vandy win this one. Unless you’re an AU fan, how can you cheer against them? If the Dores win this one, I’m a believer. Q: Can the Spread Eagle offense score more than 17 points against a jacked-up Vandy defense? If not, Vandy has a shot. We will see.
(4) Upset special: Ole Miss Rebels fall back to earth after their rollercoaster ride victory over No. 4 Gators in Gainesville.
(5) Angry Gators, miserable, unhappy, no-name Razorbacks. Gators by 21+.
(6) Tennessee by 10, but it will feel like the Vols are coasting. Sorry, General, but the Vols have not hit bottom yet. Uglier games are coming.
(7) This is the We Used to be the Masters of the Universe Bowl. I have no idea how this will turn out, but it’s a potential turning point for both programs against a traditional rival. One team gets a boost on the comeback trail, the other gets the hob-nailed boot treatment. Bobby needs the win more, but that may not determined the outcome.
(8) Holy cow! Is UVa awful this year or what? There hasn’t been a UVa football team this bad since before George Welsh took over as coach in the early 1980s. Maryland is not a great team, either, but they will crush the Cavs by 3 or more touchdowns.
(9) Badgers at home put the Buckeye-ESPN myth to rest. Downside: ESPN will hail Wisconsin as the new Ohio State. Sheesh.
(10) Longhorns by a lot. This is a mediocre bunch of Buffaloes.
Good luck to all the teams for which you cheer, and may the best teams win. (They usually do.)

Attention redneck SEC fans,
Your conference is overrated and for the most part lacking in offensive firepower.(AL, GA, and FL are the only offenses to speak of) Wake Forest, yes the team that lost to navy, beat Ole Miss, who beat the Gators. Georgia Tech throttled MS St., who lost on a penalty kick to Auburn and went toe to toe with LSU. So what if LSU beat Auburn cause they clearly suck? And don’t get me started on TN- the same squad who lost to the worst team in the PAC-10 UCLA.(who’s lost to several hapless teams since) One of the mid-tier ACC programs, Maryland, beat California, one of the better teams in the Pac-10.
Need I continue? I’m sorry but I just don’t see how the mighty SEC is so dominant. Looks like a down year to me..

Oh yeah, almost forgot, the ACC took a pounding when Clemson lost to Alabama to start the season. The overhyped Tigers don’t look so bad now, do they? Considering what Alabama did to UGA last week.. Auburn can’t stand up straight on offense. 4.USC-not much to say except they suck. 5.UK-avoided losing to a Sun Belt team (MTSU) by a 1/2 yard. 6.FL-we all saw what happened last week. 7.UGA-Is Bama still putting up points? 8.Arkansas-As a falcon fan I’m glad to see their struggling. 2 wins vs non-BCS schools by a total of 5 points. Blown out by 2 BCS schools. 9.Mississippi- good win aganist FL. But to lose to WF and Vandy…really??

Re: Amazed PTC comment. I live in Peachtree City. One of the perks is that only 3% of the county is considered low income (according to state board of education website), so there are very few Georgia fans who live here. It is a nice haven for Tech fans - or at least classier dawg fans. Ga fans will always outnumber Tech fans since the school is 3 times as large. There is more of a balance in Metro Atlanta (home of the Jackets). When you get into rural Georgia and certinly near Athens, you expereince the uga fans. They have tons of merchandise available, but that is because UGA doesn’t own its branding rights, so GA’s logo ends up on just about anything.

Auburn over Vandy - I too would like to see it happen but what the Auburn D will do to the Vandy O Line and backfield is not a sight for young eyes. (Kinda like watching my Dawgs get raped in the First Half against Bama.)

I have nothing valuable to contribute. I’m at work getting a decent sugar buzz on Halloween candy corn and Coca-Cola. Bama just crushed us last week — looked to me like UGA players were coming out often because Bama players were hitting them harder. Glad we had this week off to recuperate. The chocolate caramel candy corn has an interesting taste but I wish I had gone with the caramel flavor. ESPN said before the game that if UGA won, UGA would be ranked No. 1. It was all sitting there and it fell away, likely never to return this year. It reminded me of the scene in “Patton” where Patton’s tanks run out of gas before they can capture the German army.

Auburn actually scored 5 points when they played Miss State. Unfortunately, they scored 2 of them for the other team.
Auburn will score 1 offensive touchdown against Vandy. They will also score 1 field goal.
They had better hope that their defense scores, because Vandy will put up 14 points.

Old GT Nut, you must have forgotten who the U OC is. Unless their D scores about 21 points, 35 is a dream.
I didnt watch the FSU game last week, but Im guessing they ran back some picks or recovered some fumbles in the endzone (`Scuse me AU) to manufacture all those points. I think the over-under on this one should be 22-10.
On a more serious note, the Jackets will romp and let Cut know his boys ain`t ready for prime time quite yet. Cut said he thought he had a good team now and was near being a GREAT team. Pass that stuff around, Cut.

the ACC isnt as weak as everyone says but its just not a premier conference for football. basketball and baseball? yes. football? not so much. but the ACC is developing and will be better over the next few years. remember, the ACC is may more academic than the SEC so its harder to bring in star athletes to academically challenging schools… thus the ACC struggles
why do egotistical georgia fans feel the need to boast about their team so much? they act as if UGA football is jesus christ himself. UGA has a great football team, maybe a little overrated from what we saw against alabama, but still a contender. im sick of hearing about how great the dawgs are after beating, central michigan, ga. southern, BARELY south carolina, and a hyped ASU…tough schedule so far huh? UGA will lose to florida, and maybe to LSU and vandy, vanderbilt is hot and theyve taken down UGA before..
give tech some credit, as much as you georgia people hate us ( i GUARANTEE we hate you more lol) tech has played exceptionally well this season being thrown into a whole new offensive scheme. yea so you can say we’ve beaten “nobody” so far, but let me ask you this, if tech beat MSU by at least 30, and MSU held the almighty AUBURN to 3 and LSU to 13, how good is tech??? ponder that
so all im trying to say is give tech some credit, and lay off the ACC
the tech fans on here are giving us a bad name by boasting so much, most of you dont know what the hell youre talking about

GADAWG: You predicted that Duke will beat GT 24-7. Tell ya what… I’ll meet you in the lobby of the Fulton County Teacers’ Credit Union on Holcomb Bridge Road just east of 400 at 11:00 AM this morning with $10,000 in cash. You be there with a like amount. I’ll take GT +17 for $10,000. We’ll let a credit union officer hold the money and betting sheet. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut. Your verbal f*rts are smelling up the room.

Its awesome to see Roswell Ed back in action. I can always count on Roswell Ed to crack me me up in the morning. Keep posting Ed you always make my day.
PTC Dawg, Enough with the nonsense about UGA still having won 11 out of the last 12. That was last year. This is this year so quit living in the past. You sound like one of those Bama fans that people love to complain about “living in the past” because we’re proud of our tradition.
A lot of teams can pick a point in time and say that their team was the best in the conference and or nation from that particular point in time to this point in time. So please dispense with the nonsense that UGA is still the best team just cause they’ve won 11 of their last 12. We’re living in 08, not last year.

the truth,
Here’s the real truth:
Claiming academic superiority is the hallmark of a loser. The ACC is at a low ebb regarding the sport of football. That has not always been the case. They probably have better years ahead of them. They have certainly had better years in the fairly recent past.
One doesn’t need to be an alumni in order to cheer for a particular football team. How many Georgians attended Atlanta Falcon University?
Whining does not become you. Why not just support your team and let it go at that?
It’s only football. Enjoy it!

“Claiming academic superiority is the hallmark of a loser”? What that hell kind of stupid remark is that. Unless you can offer some kind of logical explanation of that, you’re the loser. Just a thought on another subject. In their first drive, Arkansas is moving the ball on Florida. Wonder how Mr. Heisman trophy would react to 2 loses in a row.

Eric1,
This is a football blog.
Claiming athletic superiority would be the hallmark of a loser on an academic blog.
Is that logical enough for ya?
You’re right. Arky got off to a good start. Doesn’t look like it’s holding up though.

shane#1, Hey there cool breeze! I concur on the comments about Tubberville, very low class, hell no class on how he handled the changes to the Offense. Even if his offense IS offensive, that was just childish as all get out. He could have just simply mentioned that there would be a few wrinkles to the offense this week and left it at that.
truecrimson, good point about AU scoring “5” points vs. MuSh St. when they scored Mush states points for them. Later guys, catch ya on the flip side!

I said:
Auburn will score 1 offensive touchdown against Vandy. They will also score 1 field goal.
They had better hope that their defense scores, because Vandy will put up 14 points.
Vandy 14, Auburn 9
I was right about the missed PAT, but I didn’t think Auburn could score two TD’s.
What else I learned today

Tech beats Duke. WOW way to go!
War Eagle and their big eared coach go down to Vandy? WOW way to show up!
Alabama the most fierce team in the whole universe barely survives against a mediocre (at best) Kentucky?
There is some irony here somewhere.
By TrueCrimson

DBCOOPER,
Here’s what’s ironic: Miami and Florida State played yesterday and ESPN GameDay was in Nashville to cover the Big Game.
You may think that Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Duke can’t be quality football teams because you’ve seen them be less than stellar in the past. You are wrong.
Duke has been playing well this season and that is a big win for Georgia Tech. There is a reason that Vandy and Kentucky both entered the sixth weekend of play undefeated. Both teams have excellent coaches and they both have been on an upswing recently.
Vandy leads the SEC East. This is not your Father’s Kentucky team. This is the Kentucky team that defeated LSU last year. Alabama played their sloppiest game of the season, with more penalties and turnovers than they have had in any prior game this year. Kentucky’s Defense had a lot to do with that.
Still, Bama never trailed Kentucky, so they maintain that streak for the season. The final score was closer than I would have preferred, but a win is a win. It is fair to comment on the slim margin of victory. I have made such comments about LSU’s win over Miss State and Georgia’s win over South Carolina.
This is the SEC. Get used to it. Every victory is a hard fought struggle and there are no “gimme games”. I’ll take the “W” and be thankful that the Crimson Tide has an off week to prepare for a very good Ole Miss team.
Ole Miss is no good, you say? Maybe you should ask Florida about that.

Wow, Vandy over Auburn - Anyone want a Spread offensive coordinator? Yes, Vandy is good, but not as good as AU made them look Sat. night. Auburn’s offense is as effective as a three legged stool with one leg. How long is Tubbs going to put up with this? He has a QB who can not run or throw very well trying to run the spread, and a stable of running backs watching from the sidelies. Someone smarter than me, please explain!

I have to agree with Jay, Auburn has a stable of backs and yet they refuse to line up and let them run the ball down the opponents throats. Come on Tuberville I know you are smarter than this!! Sometimes you have to make your system fit your personnnel.

I told my juanto, “Roswell Ed is rilly p**, he assed his team ‘Water jur problems’.” All I seed was Aubarn pendajos running after Vandy players yelling “Wafer me, wafer me!”
