Georgia Tech could actually beat us, and our SEC schedule willt keep us from having a great season. Pre season number ones usually have a target on their backs, these Dawgs will be eating bones come Jan.

The fact that Cuz actually thinks GT might beat UGA only tells me that he’s actually a GT fan jumping on here to try to spread discontent amongst the UGA fans. Will UGA win it all? I don’t know. But I do know that UGA will beat GT again.

Yankees Beat site took a poll, and UGA finished seventh, which isnt bad for a Southern team. When you hicks think sports, come visit our site, and see how a Real team is run. Whatever happened to your Atlanta Braves, and Baltimore Orioles, two Southern baseball teams that need to quit baseball. Southerners, the Civil War is over, Yanks Win, Yanks Win.

Dawgs can lose one of the LSU or Auburn games, and still go. Besides, the winner of USC/OSU will jump UGA pretty early in the season, so UGA wont be number one long, even if they dont lose. So much for the target theory.

Yanks fan,
First of all, Baltimore is in Maryland. Not exactly a part of the South. Also, realize you’re on a college football blog, not a baseball blog. If Syracuse ever becomes relevant again, maybe your opinion will actually matter. Until then, I think we’re doing a fine job running our “Real” teams here in SEC country.

The SEC champion will have two losses, just like last year, and won’t be lucky enough to back into the BCS title game again. Southern Cal vs. West Virginia for all the marbles.

UGA fans waited since Jan to be named by someone…anyone that they were # 1. Ok thats happened, now all you have to do is win like a # 1 team does. The schedule outside of the first two is no snap, 2-4 SEC losses is not a impossibility. So before you start booking BCS championship tickets, take another look at the task at hand… tjs

The Dawgs have as much chance as anyone of being in the big game. Take care of business one at a time. I actually like the way the schedule unfolds, it will keep us pumped and on our toes. The week off before Tenn. is HUGE! That will give us a boost in terms of rest and prep time. Fla doesn’t have an off week prior to us and with their injury reports of late, they may be at third srtring by November. LSU is scary, but with the travel to Baton Rouge, that will energize the fans and players (I know, travel is tiring, but the adrenaline will be pumping)The games I woory about are the ones we should have no problem with, Alabama, Kentucky, etc.

i have been hearing about uga’s schedule being so difficult and to me,,,just another year…we are capable of beating every team on the schedule….some closer than others but a beatdown is possible with every game if we come to play….what’s the big deal?
read a ajc headline today on a uga player back in 99-2000 that was arrested for improper driving and suspended liscense…is that really worthy of a headline? i know that the ajc is johnny on the spot with arrest reporting but this guy played 8-9 years ago…..simply embarrising that i am reading this garbage…..GOOOO DAWGS!!!!

Im not sure but I think its been 10 years or so since the yanks have won a series—go back and suck your steinbrenner on that with your 200 mill payroll. Anyway, this is a football blog—the Dogs will win at laeast 11 games—maybe stumble against LSU or Auburn. This team is loaded with speed and speed wins in the SEC. Be prepared for DAWG domination the next few years—Logan Gray is a stud and King and Samuel will run amock. We will finish in the top 5 the next 5 years!! DAWGS!!!!!!!!

does any one remember floridas AMAZING defense from the bowl game held an under achieving michigan team to only 42 points. And matt stafford lighting the air up with a 128 passer rating (56) in the country, and were 75th in ypg last year and yes UGA fans tech is higher at 75. UGA defense and mereno will be great but hate 2 break it to you stafford is average and the oline will be questionable. Out in the west Auburn has AB questions Cody burns isnt a great passer good runner, ask west virginia what happens when you need to pass and LSU lost lots of people to the draft and are in a bigger QB whole Then Auburn. Tennessee has issues s will the d-line is the main concern, but have an entire oline that only allowed 4 sacks last year, and the best secondary in the country with eric berry and morrley. Tennessee will go under the radar win the east because when doubted they end up on top, Auburn wins the west because the will beat lsu on september 20th
By desertdawg

SEC fan—its about W’s & L’s not passer ratings—lets rememebr if Kentucky can kick a 25 yard field goal in OT then UGA goes to the SECCG not Tenn. Stafford will be way above average and the O line will be fine—3 freshman started last year and we ended up ok—#2. The D will carry this team for the first few weeks— ASU will be scary only because they will throw it 50 times but that gives our CB’s more opps for picks—Tenn will lose at least 3 conference games. Florida will bw lucky to win 8 games—no D and everyone is ready for tebow this year. DAWGS!!!!

It would appear someone has hi-jacked Cuz’s moniker. The thought that GT could actually beat us this year has never entered into his mind. Nor mine. I do however wish the NATS all the best in the ACC. Johnson is an excellent coach but he is years from bringing the bugs at to a level of actually competing against Georgia.
The Dawgs schedule is brutal. So what? We play the best teams every year. The difficult schedule only makes the next week a little easier. We are better than LSU, Florida, AU and TN. We will beat them. If we don’t it isn’t the end of the world. I won’t make any guarantees but the Dawgs will be playing Jan 8th in Miami

Almost there, I just have to hold on a few more days! I can barely sit still I’m so excited about this season. All these prognostications are fun, but there is a reason we go ahead and play the games. The fact is that it will be awfully tough for the dogs to run the table. I do have to comment though on SEC Fan’s opinion of Matthew Stafford. Calling him “average” shows a real ignorance of football. The guy has size, a cannon for an arm, a football mind, and decent mobility. I would be shocked if he isn’t a first round pick when he goes pro (after his senior year and degree completion). He is not as flashy as Tebow (doesn’t have the wheels), but in terms of what it takes to make it at the next level he is very high.

Love the story and so tired of hearing about how good the Dawgs are. You have UGA at #1 but yet those Mighty Gators are picked to win the SEC so someone please tell me who knows football and who does not because that just does not add up. As for the Dawgs 8-4 at best guys as much as I hate to say it your team is not all that. You will go down to ASU. Can’t beat LSU on a Saturday night in Baton Rouge. Anyone that knows College Football also knows that the Dawgs can’t beat the Gators two years in a row. Then for the 4th loss take your pick on that one Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, South Carolina. Let’s be real the Dawgs are done sooner rather then later.
It will all come to a head starting this weekend as usual the Dawgs will be underacheivers again. As someone in Georgia I am so sick of hearing about the Dawgs all the time and how good they are suppose to be and every year they underacheive so stop riding the wagon. Let’s get real a bunch of thugs and convicts is what they have in Athens and that has been proven over the last year so if you can be proud of that as your team then more power to you.
Cheer on a team that is an actual football team not a bunch of convicts.

The Dogs may not, MAY NOT, make it to the BCS Championship. I guarantee that they will be in a new year’s day (or later) bowl. This team has too much talent and too strong coaching to be left out. Why would any of you doubt a Mark Richt team? Hasn’t he delivered at every opportunity? Hasn’t he wrung the most result from the talent he has? This year he is stoked in the talent department, so why would any logical thinking person think they would fail. Again, and I’ve already said it a couple times up here, we need a lot of luck to run the table. That doesn’t mean that we will lose more than 2 games, we won’t. If we lose one or less and win the SEC Championship we are in the NC game. If we lose 2 and don’t make the SEC game we still play in a major bowl, possibly a BCS bowl, and if we win we are top five post season poll. That brings even more strong recruiting. What you are witnessing is the beginning of the Richt Dynasty - That’s right, I said dynasty. Get used to hearing “Georgia” and “BCS Contender” in the same sentence for many, many years to come.

I just googled “projected draft position, Stafford”. I only checked the top 5 hits. All had Stafford listed as a top 5 pick if he comes out after THIS season. If he sticks around for his senior season he will almost certainly not drop and possibly go first. As I said earlier he is a prototype pro QB. You don’t need a huge amount of mobility in the NFL. In fact it can be a liability, just ask Vick. What you need is a brain and an arm.

I agree that UGA has a tough schedule, that is one of the reasons I am glad that the BCS rankings consider strength of schedule in their factoring. It works to our advantage to take on the tough teams, even if we stumble once. As far as the chances of the Dogs having any sort of extended winning streak against the Gators, since the series began in 1904 Georgia has had winning streaks of 7 (twice) and six (twice). Granted that those streaks are ancient history and the Gators have owned the dogs the past 20 years, winning 6 in a row (90-96) and 7 in a row (98-03), but these things do tend to run in streaks. Hopefully we are at the turn of the tide and Georgia can start a streak of their own.

USC will win the Pac-10, and should play for the BCS title. We get all our big games at home (OSU, Oregon, Cal, Arizona State, Notre Dame) and have a bone-crunching defense. Even if we get just one-loss, we’re in Miami. But it probably won’t be UGA; if we face and SEC team it’ll likely be Florida - they have an easier road to the title game than Georgia.
It’ll be OSU and Arizona State in the Rose Bowl, just like Tony says. It’ll be like 1996 all over again in that bowl game, but the Devils will come out with the win.
If BYU makes it to a BCS bowl, I’m all over it. Clemson will get crushed by whoever they play in the OB (but that’s assuming they actually, you know, win the conference?) and Auburn will kill West Virginia in the Sugar.

Please disregard the poster Zeb, as he just recently did molesting time at Folsom, and cruises Homo bars on Spring, and was wanted in Savannah for the River Street peep show bandit.

Once again, folks: Auburn wins the SEC West; Florida wins the SEC East; Auburn beats UF in the SEC championship game; and Oklahoma plays USC in the BCS championship game. OSU; Missouri; UGA; and LSU will all have at least two losses and play in lesser bowls.

Is UGA talented? Yes. Are they good? Hell yes. Will they win the BCS? No way. Preseason number ones are RARELY BCS champs. UGA’s schedule is too hard, they will be lucky if they can get out of conference play with only 2 losses (which MIGHT be enough to get into the BCS). LSU, Tennesee and Florida in 3 out of 4 games has to be the toughest stretch of football for any team in NCAA.

florida wins 8 games? get real dude… the only weak link last year in florida was their defense, which has been completely ratified by 4 and 5 star prospects acquired through the recruiting season. safeties major wright and dee finley will take care of coverage over the top aiding both returning starters at the corner position.
I don’t even need to explain the offense…
2009 UGA v UF Final: Who Knows???
Reasons: 1. Matt Stafford is a mediocre quarterback… watch some tape… he’s not that good guys. 2. Knowshon Moreno is electric 3. Tim Tebow while not being the smartest/best arm in the sec, can hurl it 60 yards to percy harvin (more on that) who has burned everyone in coverage 4. Percy Harvin is a faster, weaker Knowshon Moreno. Watch him if you haven’t. It’s fun 5. Both teams turn points on opposition by creating skill mismatches. These two teams are pretty evenly matched and both o-lines are questionable. It will be the REAL National championship. Knowshon
