Five burning questions about the ACC

The ACC Preseason football meetings start Sunday at Reynolds Plantation at Lake Oconee. There will be a million questions asked by the assembled scribes, but here are five that interest me:

1. What will the Georgia Tech defense look like under Dave Wommack? For seven years it was a lot of fun watching DC Jon Tenuta driving opposing offensive coordinators nuts. Wommack won’t be blitzing when he gets off the bus like Tenuta used to do. Tech has a couple of studs in the defensive front in Vance Walker and Darryl Richard. But for the most part Wommack starts with a pretty young defense, especially at linebacker and secondary. What will Ryan Perrilloux (QB, Jacksonville State) think when he looks at this defense on Aug. 28?

2. Will Drew Weatherford go the distance at QB for Florida State? Florida State obviously thinks so because the school is bringing him to the media session on Sunday. Weatherford is a fifth-year senior and if you just look at the numbers, he’s had a pretty decent career. As red-shirt freshman he had 18 interceptions. As a sophomore in 2006 he had 11 picks. Last season he only threw three interceptions. But he also threw only nine touchdown passes. The quarterback’s job is to get the ball into the end zone. Florida State was eighth in the ACC in scoring (23.3 ppg) last season. He had knee surgery on March 28 that has limited is off-season throwing and workouts. But he is a fifth-year senior and normally those guys play with a sense of urgency. We’ll see.

3. How is Cullen Harper’s shoulder?: Harper, Clemson’s junior quarterback from Alpharetta, suffered an injured shoulder in the Nov. 17 game with Boston College. He said this week that if Clemson had beaten BC and reached the ACC championship game, he probably would not have been able to play against Virginia Tech. He had surgery two days after the regular-season finale against South Carolina and played in the Chick-fil-A Bowl and struggled with the shoulder in an overtime loss to Auburn. Last season he was the ACC’s most efficient passer (27 TD, 6 int). How is the shoulder now and will it be ready for the opener against Alabama?

4. Will North Carolina finally find a running game?: For a school that has produced 24 rushers over 1,000 yards in a season, the Tar Heels simply could not run the ball in 2007, averaging 99.7 ypg (10th in the ACC). It’s one reason North Carolina (4-8) lost six games by seven points or less. Freshman wide receiver Greg Little made the switch and ran for 243 yards in the last two games of the season. Four starters return on the offensive line. If Little is the answer at running back, North Carolina will be the most improved team in the ACC.

5. Can Duke improve? Got to. Can’t get any worse. David Cutcliffe will enter preseason with a team that finished last in the ACC in total offense (271.1 ypg), last in scoring offense (17.9 ppg), last in total defense (424.4 ypg) and last in scoring defense (33.2 ppg).

Two players from each ACC will meet with us on Sunday. If you were there, what questions would you want to ask?

Tech’s defense will be better across the board. If you live by the blitz, you die by the blitz and I believe there was more form to Tenuta than substance.

Ryan Perilloux may be very talented, but that offensive line he’ll be standing behind isn’t. He’ll get to know Michael Johnson, Vance Walker and Daryl Richard intimately.

Its very sad when 3 of the burning questions about your conf deal with Duke, GT amd UNC.

  1. For the last 7 years it has also been fun watching UGA beat Tenuta’s defense regularly…..even if it was by some close scores. A win is a win…by 1 point or by a 51-7 debacle. He STILL can’t say his vaunted “D” beat UGA. Notre Dame will likely improve because of him and his “D”, though…..maybe they reach the 6-win plateau this season, and will STILL get to a Bowl no matter how bad they are. With another Bowl loss, too, by the way.

  2. Weatherford plays as if he is a traffic cop trying in vain to direct traffic on I-285. Both are trying desperately to keep from getting flattened by on-coming traffic. In what may be Bobby Bowden’s last year, look for another 7-6 or 8-5 season from FSU. Sad to see a legendary coach like Bowden looking more and more like Paterno with each passing season.

  3. Clemson is gonna be good, no doubt. However, they always seem to lose a game or two every year to teams they should have been mopping up the floor with. The real question is, will Tommy (I’m on the Hot Seat again, Daddy) Bowden be able to prevent melt-downs this season that always keep Clemson from being a top-10 and possibly ACC champ team??

  4. I agree. UNC will be much improved and will continue to do so in the future under Coach Davis….The man is a proven winner in college ball, NFL record nonwithstanding.

  5. If Duke-ey reaches 4 wins this season, those folks up there will be ready to have a ticker-tape parade and give Cutcliffe the key to the city. There’s nothing they can do but get better…..they sure as he11 couldn’t get much worse.

Harper’s shoulder will be fine. He looked great in the spring game. The real question is if he can handle the pressure behind all the expectations with this team and FINALLY lead Clemson to a BCS bowl.

Tony asks two legitimate questions — about Weatherford and UNC. He has to ask a Tech question because of readership; while it’s legitimate to ask a Clemson Q, the shoulder question is stupid and should instead be will Tommy Bowden choke as usual; and he asks the Duke question because he has some strange infatuation with David Cutcliffe (has anyone else noticed that?).

Supposedly Tech is really gonna gel and finish strong. For them to do that Wommack will have to fill Tenuta’s shoe’s quick. I do think a little less blitzing will help Tech keep the offenses guessing. I’d like to see Clemson finally get it going. As a dawg fan I’m really supposed to hate Clemson, but I can’t seem to do it. Hope Harper’s shoulder is a non issue. I don’t think N.C.’s running game is a burning ? but Duke will improve. Cutcliffe will turn them around. It will be a work in progress but they will be competitive eventually.

Southern gentlemen, where have you gone? As in, if you can’t say anything nice, why do you flap your gums about how bad Duke and GT are?

While I don’t always agree with Tony - I’d take a mistake free QB with 9 TDs and only 3 INTs if I had a strong enough running game and rely on my RBs to get the ball into the end zone - I appreciate the fact that he makes an effort to generate discussion on various football topics, and not stick with the endless string of arrests, suspensions, and players kicked off teams, which are about the only things in the news right now.

Two questions I’d ask - how do they feel about the clock stoppage/40 second clock/out of bounds rule changes coming up this year, and of course, which opposing team’s cheerleaders are they looking forward to most.

After playing in the SEC and facing LSU’s defense in practice for two years he’ll probably think he’s back in high school.

Those are the 5 big ACC questions?

Nothing about Paul Johnson’s commitment to the run with 4 new O-Line starters?

Nothing about VT’s offense given their losses in their WR core and kicking Brandon Ore off the team?

Nothing about how BC is going to replace Matt Ryan?

Nothing about whether or not Bobby Bowden takes a back seat to Jimbo Fisher?

Nothing about UVA replacing their QB and RB who they threw off the team?

Clemson should win the ACC and get to the BCS Bowl BUT Clemson always lose a game that they suppose to win or let a game slip away. Va Tech will be strong and should slip by either UNC or GT to win the Coastal Division. Either FSU or Wake Forest will be a dark horses of the ACC. UNC should be much improved and will slip into a bowl. Maryland,Miami, GT and NC State will all go to a lower-tier Bowls.

By Ben in Athens

We could sit here and come up with other questions all day long. Holy crap people, give the man a break. He came up with 5 questions for a friday morning blog entry. He didn’t rewrite the constitution. It’s no big deal. It’s not the end of the world if he didn’t include your team.

Richard, your first question is a non-issue. It’s MUCH easier for young lineman to learn how to run-block than pass-block. They’ve more than likely been doing it their whole lives through middle and high school. O-lineman will tell you they’d rather run-block than pass-block any day of the week.

One more thing: I continue to grow very tired of other Dawg fans that come on here and spew their crap everywhere. There is football outside of Athens. There are people that are not Georgia fans. These people continue to try to associate themselves with the University even though I’m sure 99% of people that talk like this never received a degree from here, or anywhere for that matter. All they accomplish is giving true Bulldogs a bad name, which makes me sick.

By Old GT Nut

July 18, 2008 11:11 AM | Link to this

Based on intereviews with Paul Johnson and players from last year and WELL-KNOWN ACCOUNTS of off-the-field confrontations between Offensive & Defensive players and coaches, it is shockingly clear how un-motivated, un-prepared, un-disciplined, and deeply divided players & coaches were under Gailey. It’s no secret that Gailey and Tenuta had complete contempt for each other. FOLKS, ALL OF THAT IS GONE NOW. In the famous words of President Gerald R. Ford…”Our long national nightmare is over.” This will be a GT team that will play totally-united, totally-committed, highly-motivated, and well-disciplined football on BOTH sides of the ball. You have a coaching staff that has worked together for years. They will see to it. The offenses and defenses are learning new styles of play, however the coaches are working with new, young talent and not having to help many veteran players “un-learn” the Gailey style. With all of the other ACC teams having pronounced weaknesses in many different areas, this GT team is going to SHOCK THE WORLD by winning the ACC Championship. Count on it. It sure as hell isn’t going to BC, VT, or Clemson. Who SERIOULSY thinks one of these three will win the ACC ???? You have to remember that despite all of GT’s problems last year, we still beat Clemson, and barely lost to both UVA and MD. Remember, even with “Thunder & Lightning,” GT held Clemson to only 62 yards of total rushing and QB Harper spent most of the day running for his life. Clemson DID NOT EVEN SCORE A TOUCHDOWN ON GT LAST YEAR. And Clemson is supposed to win the ACC this year??? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigghhtt. BC and VT both lost an enormous amount of talent. Even Beamer is out trying to lower fans expectations. VT lost both starting running backs and all 4 starting WR’s. BC lost Matt Ryan, both starting running backs, and several O & D linemen. And, the GT starting QB won’t be throwing 4-5 interceptions in each of those games this year. And Miami, well, they have Pat Nix as their OC now. Enough said. UVA lost starting QB Jameel Sewell, and star Defensive player Chris Long. Performances of these two specific players were important keys to losing to UVA last year. The biggest mid-season test is gonna be vs. Miss State. A good team in all aspects. Never underestimate Croom. All of the reasons we lost ACC games last year can be laid clearly at the feet of the disfunctional Gailey coaching staff. Every ACC team that plays GT will see an Offense and Defense squad and coaching staff they will not have seen before and not be familiar with. The advantage in every game will be in favor of GT. FOLKS, THIS IS GOING TO BE A HELL OF RIDE THIS YEAR. So, here are my predictions: GT will win at BC and at VT. GT home game tickets will be UNOBTAINABLE after VT. GT will also beat FSU in Atlanta for the first time in over two decades, and YES, both goalposts WILL come down at the end of of that game. I might just help the students for that one. GT will win the ACC title game against either Clemson(rematch) or Wake. At this point, the game in Athens is too close to call. However, the odds of an upset win in Athens rises with every game GT wins along the way. You’re either gonna be a Ramblin Wreck, or you’re gonna be Roadkill.

I’d personally like to thank all of the pimply-faced, foul-mouthed, cranially challenged, teenage ugay fans that contribute absolutely nothing to these blogs. Without you, there’d actually be a reason to read them.

ugay will blow it this year, just like they do every year. they may play in a bcs bowl, but not for the NC.

As for GT, we’ll see. Ask the Navy fans how happy they were when Coach Johnson left. I distinctly remember the talk when Bobby Ross came to GT; “what a desperate hire” it was, and how Ross “could never compete on a national stage, regardless of what his past success had been.”

It may take a year or two, but soon enough we’ll be kicking the sec (sic) again…you’ll see.

My 5 questions are as follows:

  1. Why is the ACC not stronger after the additions of VT, BC and Miami? Miami, the one program that was supposed have propelled the ACC into a top tier league has virtually vanished. What happened to the National Championship the ACC was supposed to have won?

  2. Why worry about the GT defense? It’s their offense that is in horrible condition. They do not have the right players to run that type of offense. it’s like trying to drag race with a Yugo. The defense will do well if they can stay off the field for any period of time.

  3. Has the ACC got so bad, where Clemson is its only shining star? Once again, those pwer houses have vanished. Clemson is not stable enough to win a NC.

  4. I agree with one blogger on here..

UVA..

What is UVA going to do about their RB and QB situation. Do they have a magical ace in the hole? Currently the starting QB and RB were thrown off the team, right? How they prepare new leaders in a short time? Usually this is a recipe for disaster.

  1. Will GT EVER beat UGA again? As a Tech fan, I shamefully have to acknowledge the fact they we are nowhere as good as UGA. Even when we did have more talent, No coach Chan screwed it up with his horrible planning and game calling. We had the BEST player in college football and No coach Chan wasted it.

Paul Johnson is a great coach, he plays to win. However; it will take a couple of years to recruit the type of players he needs.

Those are my 5 questions.

At least one former Jacket defender said the team last year suffered from an us (defense) vs. them (offense) division. I suspect Tenuta contributed to that.

By jacketguy

July 18, 2008 2:14 PM | Link to this

I think that the defense Tech will field this year will do great. Part of the reason I beleive it will be better than last year is because whether the offense scores or not, they will be on the field longer than Gailey’s 3 and out offense last year. With the blitzing scheme Tenuta brought to the flats in the last several years, he needed some time to let his players rest on the sidelines. He didn’t have that chance many times and a tired blitzing defense is just asking to get burned. If PJ can keep his offense on the field long enough to give the defense a break, the defense should stay fresh enough to allow less than 2 td’s a game against most ACC opponents. And if Wommack only blitzes 50% of the time as opposed to 70% last year, we will be even better. If PJ can score 20 points a game, the defense can lead us to a good year.

its funny how these sec fans besmirch the acc.

if you look at the results for all bowl games since the year 2000 the sec and acc are the only two confernces with winning records i do believe.

i think the sec is plus 10 an the acc plus 4. note that the big least had a winning record also but it has played in less than half as many bowl games as the sec or acc so they are irrelevant.

and the acc did this without having to sacrifice its recruiting standards by lowering its requiremnts over an over again…. like they did this year… AGAIN.

what the sec fans should really be concerned with is weather or not thier players can read an write when they graduate!

No ACC champion team not named FSU or MIAMI would ever get enough respect to get put in the BIG game (you know the ONLY game that matters!)
You seriously think a 1 loss GT team would get in over the SEC champ, a 2 loss USC team, or a 1 loss OSU, Texas, or OU?? KEEP DREAMING!

i think that our d will be better.

with tenuta is was all or nothing. as former gt nfl d back alumni noted… gt d backs HAD no skill sets. is there any wonder why? john tenuta did not teach them those necessary skills because all he thought of was blitz blitz blitz.

we have gotten better by addition via subtraction.

we will be a more comple d team now that one horse tenuta and his divisiveness is gone. there will be no more petty argueing amonst our staff and we should be playing as a team now for the first time in 7 years.

with chan ‘no disicpline’ gailey gone we will play as a team now. we will play to win now. players under johnson will be expected to go to class now. thier will no longer be any premadonna’s like reggie ball on our team now.

also coach deis is gone thank god. thank god thank god thank god! we have wr’s now who are actually learning how to catch a ball. sheeeeesh.

as a number of players have openly stated. ‘now we can move up to the next level’. that is a sad commentary on the gailey legacy or lack thier of.

thank god mr mediocre no 1 is gone. now we need to work on mr mediocre no 2… ph.

i would not be surprised to win 9 games this year.

AND as old gt nut put it… each game we win will improve our confidence.

Since you, as an ACC fan, apparently don’t read and write so well, I thought you’d appreciate knowing that weather should be whether, thier should be their, and an should be and. In addition, the “or not” is considered redundant and is not proper usage; it should be deleted from your sentence. Question for ACC: How is it we’re still a BCS conference?

gtfan, you just make it too easy to make fun of you guys:

“what the sec fans should really be concerned with is weather or not thier players can read an write when they graduate!”

I guess the ACC should be concerned about WHETHER or not their students can use the english language properly. Maybe a few more english courses AND a few less calculus courses might help you out there.

Last regular season game will see uga undefeated going into the game…but not coming out…nothing would be sweeter than for tech to deny uga a national championship…it sure would make up for the last seven odd years…

I think the Tech ‘D’ will be fine, if the coverage from the corner position improves. The DL and LB’s have some talent.

The blogger above was right to say that the Tech ‘O’ is a bigger question. This offense is dependent on solid, consistent QB play and from what I saw in the spring game, they are light years from where they need to be to be competitive early. I do think Tech wil improve once the players get a grasp on this scheme and get the timing and reads down to where it is all second nature. Only as million reps will do that.

I also am not shocked to hear of all the intrasquad drama under Gailey. I don’t think that will be a problem under CPJ. There have been some defections and in the long run that was probably a good thing. Soon (2-3 yrs) CPJ will have a cohesive unit on the field and Tech will surprise. Mark it down.

So, how about just Tech questions:

  1. Can the talent on the d-line make up for the talent of the d-backs for the first six games?

  2. Can Josh Nesbitt pass for 2,000 yards and run for 1,000?

  3. Can Michael Johnson live up to the hype or will he be even better because opposing teams won’t be able to double team him on every play?

  4. Will GT lead the nation in pass efficiency (like Navy did last year)?

  5. Will the new-found unity and work ethic result in a rebuilding year, a bowl game, or an ACC championship berth?

My answers:

  1. Yes, but…they’ll get burned and lose at least one close game out of the first six for GT.

  2. Not this year, but he will come close before he leaves Tech (~1,200 rush and 1,800 pass).

  3. YES! GT’s D-line situation is better than our linebacker situation has been in recent years. Every D-lineman can beat 90% of opposition in single coverage. They will all make each other better. We won’t blitz nearly as much, but opposing QBs will still be running.

  4. No chance! Tech’s pass efficiency will vastly improve over the recent years. Too young on offense. But, don’t forget, CPJ’s Navy team led the nation in pass efficiency last year. He also produced multiple 4,000 yard passers at Hawaii. It ain’t gonna be the old Nebraska triple option.

  5. Bowl game. Contrary to popular opinion, Tech does have some decent talent at all positions (DB is the weakest across the board). CPJ is all about maximizing the talent. CCG was all about minimizing it unfortunately. Tech will continue its streaks of bowl games, winning seasons, beating ranked teams, and losing to unranked teams. However, we’ll do it with the style of 1999 vs 2007.

STATE OF FOOTBALL in Georgia not as good as you think!…..WRITE IT DOWN!!!!!

TECH WILL BE BAD THIS YEAR - will depend on defense to keep them in the game. The following year will be a little better - but need to get Paul Johnson type personel in to be complete. WRITE IT DOWN!

ALL of the OVER RATED UGAy National Title Talk - complete BS - they will lose 3 - possibly 4 games this season. WRITE IT DOWN!!

Possible losses include the CHICKENS (too bad both can’t lose that game), AZ STATE, ALABAMA, TN, LSU, FLORIDA, and AUBURN….thats 7 50/50 games. WRITE IT DOWN!!!!!

CLEMSON will run the table.WRITE IT DOWN!!

Hate to admit - sounds lke bragging - maybe arrogant - but it is what it is - CLEMSON would win the SEC this year - and will beat USC TROJANS / OHIO STATE winner for the NATIONAL TITLE GAME!!! WRITE IT DOWN

Also hate to admit - but keeping it real - the ACC is mediocre this year - but will serve as a tune up for the National Title Game WRITE IT DOWN!!

Who on our schedule is going to compete with us?????? only 2 games - and we are clearly - CLEARLY superior - BAMA & FSU - will meet decent VA TECH in ACC Title game and that one will not even be close…WRITE IT DOWN!!!!

By GT

The Clemson Alabama game should be an early measure of what is in store for both conferences. I am thinking since Clemson’s last game played was at the dome they will have an advantage. The problem with Clemson is they are like every other school in the ACC. On a good day they could beat anyone in the country and on a bad day any team can beat them. They seem to come out of the shoot early and by the time Spurrier shows up in winter they are shot. Tech is two years away from anything that resembles a good football team. I remember it took Ross a couple of years to get it together and I think Ross may have been one of the five best coaches of his time. I think Johnson will eventually do it because he shares that determination Ross had, and thick skin. He knows what he is about and he will get there eventually but not next year. Getting there is playing Georgia on an equal level and I hope it is not because Georgia is down like in years past when Tech beat them but that Tech has improved to UGA’s present level. The problem with people thinking a team is down is that the win loss record dictates that more than the actual playing on the field so if Tech starts beating Georgia it automatically puts them in the down category instead of Tech being good. But I do believe beating Goff was no great accomplishment or his predecessor. Beating them now should be different but if they don’t produce this year something ain’t right over there and Johnson may come into his own sooner than two years.

IPTAY TIGER is an immature embarrassment to Clemson University Write It Down

The problem with the ACC is that is too geographically spread out to foster fan a true competitive hostility between teams. The ACC was out of its gord when it added UM and BC and FSU. They would have been much smarter to have added SC, WV, and Navy or Marshall or even Pittsburgh.

The conference championship game could have been held at an ACC city location like Charlotte, Washington DC, or Pittsburgh and better attended.

The SEC should have added FSU rather than SC.

BC should have remained a Big East team.

Miami should have joined a Conference USA type of conference along with South Florida, Central Florida, FAU, and FIU to comprise a sort of Conference USA Southern Division.

Oh well, things are like they are - and the ACCCG will never be well attended as long as it remains in a Florida city and either Miami or Florida State do not win their division.

The ACC would be smarter to move the game to Charlotte for the time being. Or they could alternate moving it to the campus of the divison winners like they do in high school and in Div 1AA. At least people would show up.

But the ACC started going downhill when they let Tech in after the SEC turned them down in the early 80’s. By the way it was Mississippi, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky that blackballed Tech from rejoining the SEC.

When Tech was a member, SEC teams only had to play 6 other SEC teams and could schedule whatever SEC teams they wished to schedule. Tech would never travel to those 4 schools to play SEC games when they were an SEC member. They thought they were too good to do so (or Mississippi was too good to play under Johnny Vaught).

What do they say about payback?

Everyone keeps on forgetting if it wasn’t for Miami joining the league the rest of the ACC wouldn’t bear fruits that they have now. Look at the quality of recruiting that the other teams have enjoyed. If you look at each team that has had the potential to go to a BCS that team has lost out because of one game or strength of conference. Miami was supposed to upgrade the league into STAR status but it didn’t happened. But to even think it didn’t help the quality of the league is crazy. Look at the makeup of the teams and see how many central to south Florida recruits are on each roster and wonder how they were swooned to play against the likes of Fla. St., Miami, and VT. Clemson should be thanking Miami. Clemson has enjoyed the fact that many kids want to be featured in the Bowden bowl and have the luxury of showcasing their talents with a beautiful offensive scheme. Their coaches, although boneheaded not to stick the dagger in most teams when they have them down, have to be applauded in getting kids to play their best. They really have the quickest team in the country. I believe that Miami will be back but the rest of the league is solid and you will eventually see a change of the guard conference/nation wide in 2 years. Go U and go ACC!!!

I stated strength of conference but I meant strength of schedule and how those non-conference teams affect the overall look of a strong schedule. It has hurt every team that has been in the running for a BCS from the ACC (if they haven’t lost a game that has cost them the BCS invitation).

Sports fan, you start off making some good points but then I think you get into some personal biases that destroy your objectivity.

Miami has been a football power & does have 5 NC since 1983. But any team that loses every game against Tech since joining the ACC has seen its program sink into the depths of mediocrity.

Miami was in pretty bad shape before Howard Schnellenberger (spelling?), and now it is in the same bad shape again.

Who really paid attention to Miami in the 1970’s and before except the locals in Coral Gables?

TDone is so right: You live by the blitz, you die by the blitz. It used to look so good, when Bobby Bowden’s endless stream of fresh legs were using it to beat us like a drum. Then Tenuta installed the blitz at Tech, and we saw it go sour, or at least, sweet-and-sour.

I’d like to think of Tech at 10-2 in Paul Johnson’s first year, but 8-4 or 7-5 is realistic. We don’t need a fifth national championship this year - the Doggies have only one recognized outside of the UGA Athletic Association, and there’s no way they will get another one, ever. I wish Knowshon no ill - he is a great star, but he will be hammered, and hammered again. His team will stumble four times.

Clemson? Loser again. VT? They’ll come closer. FSU will be an embarrassment. BC will lose to Tech in their own place.

The Jackets will have a chance in every game they play this year. How well they come out will depend on their will to play the way they’re saying the Braves must play right now: “hair on fire, etc.” Plus, the key to every football game, NO MISTAKES. Let the other team make those.

Hey Fred Sanford…. The G stands for Goober Heads…. Brad… Mr. Cullen Harper is a much better QB than your Over Hyped and Gloryfied Matt Stafford who really ain’t impressive. Clemsom will surprise a lot people this year starting with a big win in the Georgia Dome over Saban, Bowden Bowl X,ACC Championship and also the National Championship!WRITE IT DOWN GO TIGERS ROAR

I want everyone to realize that Miami wil be back. We are even going to make OC P. Nix look great. Everyone blames Reggie Ball for his play but know one blames Mr. Nix for his play calling. I am a true Cane from head to toe but if you were at the game 2 years ago against GT in Atlanta you could see the frustration on Calvin Johnson’s face for not puuting the ball in his hands. He had us and I knew it, my best friend who is an even more die hard Cane than I am knew it, the GT fans knew it, and Calvin Johnson knew it (although he was hurt). Nix, Ball, and Gailey didn’t realize it until late in the game. But if history serves me right that wasn’t the only game he (CJ) was almost shut out. It reminds me of what they said about Jordan. There were really only two people who stopped Michael Jordan. Dean Smith and Bobby Knight. That won’t happen at the U and Randy Shannon will make sure of that.

One statement UrBan is talking about the celebration not effecting the game. Next he is slamming his own team by saying the Great Tebow caused them to loose. Not a 100%. To hear about all them great recruits they have you would think the mighty Gators would have a back up plan. Maybe Coach Zook could come back and show him how to build a winner.
