SEC Quarterbacks: Five Burning Questions
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
As we go through the preseason I’ll be breaking down several positions in the SEC and ACC and asking Five Burning Questions for each. Today we’ll start with the SEC’s quarterbacks and what inquiring minds want to know:
1. How many carries for Tebow?: Last season Florida quarterback Tim Tebow carried the ball 210 times, which was 106 more than any other runner on the team. Why did Tebow get so many carries? Mostly it was because Tebow was the best power runner on the team (he averaged 4.3 yards per carry) and had a knack for getting the ball into end zone (23 TD). Will a running back step up and take a significant amount of carries away from the Heisman Trophy winner? Will coach Urban Meyer and OC Dan Mullen resist the temptation to go with the big guy in every clutch running situation? Tebow has to be healthy on Nov. 1 for Georgia.
2. How many picks for Stafford?: Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford threw 19 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions a season ago. As a freshman he threw seven touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. Stafford has one of the best arms in all of college football and can make all of the throws. He is as talented as any quarterback who has played for Georgia. But patience hasn’t always been one of his virtues. Can he keep his interceptions in single digits in 2008? If he does, Georgia has a chance for a big year. The Dawgs are 14-2 in games where he has thrown one interception or less.
3. How will John Parker Wilson fare with young receivers?: Wilson sometimes doesn’t get a lot of love from the Alabama faithful because of his inconsistency. He has also made some crucial turnovers (LSU, 2007). But the fact remains that the rising senior will, if he stays healthy, become the Crimson Tide’s all-time leading passer this season. He needs only 732 yards to pass Brodie Croyle’s 6,382 career yards. But Wilson is really going to miss DJ Hall (67 catches, 1,005 yards), who was his go-to guy under pressure. And it’s clear some talented freshmen will have to play at the receiver position. Wilson will also be working under his third offensive coordinator (Jim McElwain) in as many years.
4. Will Stephen Garcia actually get on the field this season?: After three run-ins with the law, the highly-recruited but star-crossed South Carolina quarterback, who has yet to play a down, will be on suspension from all team activities until Aug. 15. First he has to get back into school. Then he has to get out of Steve Spurrier’s doghouse. Then he has to prove to Spurrier that he can play and be trusted not to mess up again. That’s a lot of ifs. But unless Tommy Beecher or Chris Smelley improve, the Gamecocks are going to need Garcia before this season is over.
5. Will Jonathan Crompton get the green light on Sept. 1?: Crompton finally gets his chance at Tennessee after playing behind Erik Ainge for two years. Former OC David Cutcliffe always expressed a lot of confidence in Crompton to run the offense and make plays. But Tennessee is going to be so good in the running game with Arian Foster and a stable of good backs, I wonder if new OC Dave Clawson will hold the reins a little bit in the first game with UCLA? This we know. If Tennessee is going to beat Florida on Sept. 20 and Auburn on Sept. 27, Crompton will need to be ready to make all the throws.
BONUS QUESTION
How good is Javan Snead? Two years ago Snead battled fellow freshman Colt McCoy for the starting quarterback job at Texas. McCoy won and Snead landed at Ole Miss, where he sat out last season. Snead completed 20 of 26 passes in the Ole Miss Spring game. He’ll team with former Ole Miss quarterback Kent Austin, who returns to Oxford as offensive coordinator after a successful coaching career in the CFL. If Snead is the real deal, and the people in Oxford swear he is, Ole Miss (3-9 last season) could be the most improved team in the SEC in its first year under coach Houston Nutt.
Now there are a lot of questions around the SEC in places where they don’t know who the quarterback will be (Auburn, LSU, Kentucky). We will get to those once practice starts.

John Parker Wilson will do what he has always done — be inconsistent and frustrate Alabama fans. Unless I am missing something — and I have looked for it — Wilson is not a Stafford, Tebow type that can put a team over the top. As long as Wilson is the QB, there will be no championships in Tuscaloosa. The bigger question is why doesn’t Saban start someone else and build for the next three years. Georgia is on the verge of reaping the benefits of giving Stafford time to mature and learn what it takes to win in this conference. Alabama should rip a page from that plan. I don’t know what the question is, but John Parker Wilson ain’t the answer.

Tony, good points, but I don’t think Stafford will have as much pressure on him with Moreno, King and Southerland in the backfield. Along with a young and improving O-line, and with Mo Mass and Kris Durham back opposing defenses better be ready.
By Stafford id the key

This is the SEC and as good as the UGA backs and O-line are they will not run successfully on all of the best teams. This is the first time in a long time UGA has a dominate running game that everyone will be afraid of EVERY game! The result is teams will gamble and scheme to take the running game away by stacking the line and putting 8 in the box. The key will be the receivers ability to get open and Stafford to hit them in stride for BIG yards after the catch. Stafford and the receivers must improve on the long passes as well. The quick dump offs in the flats and 5 yard curls will not get safeties out of the box. I really believe the formula for success in the big games will be big strikes in the passing game (set up by teams selling out to stop the run) to get the lead in the first 2 or 3 quarters and slam the door shut will the running game the last 15 or 20 minutes.
PS…I also think we will see more long runs for TD’s…similar to the Garrison Hearst days!

Meyer won’t risk injury to Tebow again - that’s why he brought in a proven running back from California. He’ll still run it a bit. But if the O line played like it did last year against Auburn, Georgia, LSU & Michigan it doesn’t matter. Tebow will be on his back most of the game.
Everyone is saying that Stafford has really improved during Spring Drills. If The Dawg O line can hold out the pass rush enough maybe we can see the potential turn into passing yards. In all fairness, Stafford hit many receivers hard right in the hands resulting in dropped passes. He will likely make a better Pro QB than College QB.
I believe Bama Receivers will mature early this season. This team will really prove itself. JPW is a good talent but has been woefully inconsistent in passing. All attempts will be made for a balanced air & ground attack.
If Spurrier wants to keep his job he’ll do everything to get this kid back on the field. SC will have a fine D, but no O.
Crompton nor any other QB will solve the problems UT has this year.
Bonus. Colt is the “Real” McCoy but again, one player does not make a team. Ole Miss will upset one or more teams this year but that’s it.

I think Smelley will wind up be the starter against NC State. But given how our O-line is a question mark, I would not be surprised to see Garcia get playing time against uga since he’s a scrambler also. That’s if Garcia finally proves that he has matured after his petty, childish, little run-ins.

Tony, any word on the Anderson/Sturdivant, “situation”. How severe the suspensions and is there the possibility of expulsion. O/L is the “key”. Also, has Boling fully recovered from “mono”, and is he participating in the summer condition program. Also, how is the rest of the O/L progressing - specifically Tripp!!

Stafford should be poised for a big season. The receivers have had time to adjust to the type of ball he throws & last season he showed touch at times that should keep improving. The running & short passing game should help take pressure off him & the OL. That will help them stretch the field with medium & deep passing game when they chose to. I cant wait to see what the 1-2 punch of Moreno & King is going to be like! Screen, flairs & check down passes could all now be potential big plays. That can only help Stafford & the young OL! GO DAWGS!!!

Snead reminds me a lot of Stafford in that they are both big armed folks from my state. Folks differ on why he lost out to Colt, but my opinion was that Snead like Stafford thought his arm was good enough for him to throw the ball anywhere which led to interceptions. He just seemed to take too many risks. Stafford seemed to take a huge leap last year in that department so maybe Snead will too.

1- Meyer has to add some new wrinkles to the UF offense to take the pressure off Tebow. The teams known for Their defenses beat UF last year. LSU, UGA, and AU all beat the Gators. I wounder if old Rod gave the guys at Big Blue a few hints on stopping the spread? 2- Stafford made great strides last year. Will he stop throwing interceptions? Nah. Did Farve stop throwing ints? Did Namath, or Elway? Most strong armed QBS are going to force one now and then. If He keeps the ratio around 2 to 1 I am happy with His play. Stafford worked a lot on His technique in the off season, especially footwork and touch on the ball. Look out for the deep ball when defenses load the line. Remember the bombs against UF and AU? 4- I like old John Parker. Whoever said that a freshman should be thrown in there should know that Richt wanted to red shirt Stafford. He just didn’t have anyone else that moved the team. Richt always red shirts QBs when He can. 4- I don’t think SOS is worried about His job. He will play Garcia if He can, and if the kid listens to Him. All Us SEC fans know how the OBC treats players that don’t listen, especially QBs. I’ll bet that the first visor throw puts the play calling back in His hands! 5- A new QB and a strong running game? That’s a no brainer! Hand off the damn ball, with a few screens and short passes to build the new guys confidence, at least early in the season. Bonus- I haven’t seen the kid play. I’ll have to see that before I say Ole Miss is back.

Barnhardt almost had a heart attack ripping on LSU to release Perrilloux, whose only arrest was for a fake ID. Garcia at South Carolina has had three run ins with the law and the only thing fatso Barnhardt has to say is that the gamecocks are going to need garcia.
what we have here is barnhardt taking a jab at LSU because they win National Titles, not just SEC titles when you have National Title teams like Georgia. Its going to be real funny watching UGA lose in Tiger Stadium because their young QBs outplay the INT-machine stafford and because Chokemaster Richt is at the helm. Then fat and self important barnhardt will write a column saying UGA should have won and he will do what UGA fans and faculty do when they end up 2nd. cry, whine, moan and make excuses.

Probably right about the Bama fans not being satisfied with JPW at qb, but face it, the guy is not a world beater but is a decent qb..what qb is not inconsistent at times..all are subject to that…Stafford at Georgia has the potential to be one of the best qb’s at Bulldog U in many yrs..has experience and one heck of a running game behind him…just protect him and he’ll be fine….Mr. Heisman, Tebow is no doubt the cream of the crop being 2 dementional, running/passing..my question is, how long can his body take the abuse of being the bulk of the running game, even with a quality rb coming in, he is still going to be the man per coach Meyer..gator defense may be their biggest achilles heel….we’ll see….South Carolina is a complete toss up at qb, whoever is not in coach Spurrier’s doghouse and can perform up to his expectations, will be the man…depends who is hot and who is not….Jevan Snead is great talent but really an unknown down at Ole Miss…got a feeling that with Houston Nutt at the helm, could go either way…has never been known to throw the football much(ask Mitch Mustain) and can’t see him changing much… Jonathan Crompton at the helm at UT for as he has paid his dues..does have game experience but not a lot, has started a couple of games couple of yrs ago against Ark and LSU…unfortunately were both in losses…has the arm and physical build to be very competitive, and with the weatlth of receivers the Vols have, if once again, his offensive line can protect, things could be interesting …

Gamecock Travis- Garcia’s suspension is until Aug.15. SC plays UGA Aug.13. Are you saying that Spurrier will take him off suspension early to play UGA? That would imply that Spurrier is not a man of his word and I don’t believe that is the case. One can infer that Garcia vs Uga is a big wish for SC fans if you are typical. Don’t blame you fans because I think some of the UGA fans may agree that he has the best talent and Steve always likes to throw the kitchen sink against us. Just because Garcia won’t play against us has little to do with our paranoia about what Spurrier can put together against UGA. I’m not going to be diverting my attention from the fact that he seems to get a defense together no matter who his def.coord. turns out to be. His offenses have played decently against us each year so they won’t suddenly kneel down when we hit the field.
By the same token UGA fans haven’t even approached the probability that injury will not take a holiday during fall practice. We should not mention our stars as if they will win the game. Think of suspensions as injury with a pedictable time for those players to reenter active play. Now add inevitable injury to the game(remember DJ) and a NC is frought with luck to get all our best talent on the field at the same time, get the ball in the right hands at the right time, keep team attitudes to a high level, get our share of good bounces, get past all the NEW defenses to be thrown against us,etc.. What if Moreno sees his chance for a Heisman go out the window because we run King too many times? What if King feels he is under utilized and attitudes pop up? The point of all of this is for UGA fans not to put everything in one basket for the outcome of our season. These limited observations in this and other articles concerning specific players at specific positions and their importance to the team are not realistic as to what can occur and why. These observations are predicated on what happened in spring practice, not in a heated game with rivals and good coaching. The observations will be different later. Several years ago we played Ga. South. and UAB in early games nd I don’t remember where we incurred more injuries than in those games. The last time we played Clemson, if my memory is close to correct, we had fifteen players out due to suspensions and injury. It’s scary what a game’s outcome turns on throughout the season. A fumble recovery at the right time kept us from losing the Vandy game. Year before last, Fl won on a cheap touchdown brought by a fumble at the five which was recovered and run in for the game winner. The year before that was DJ’s injury. I fervently believed they lucked out each time.
So the take home lesson is to play each game on the field and assess your chances for each game on game day, otherwise your enthusiasm can be crushed if you rely on individuals instead of team. Cheer for the line play, watch the defensive backfield as a group at the snap of the ball, watch a receiver unfold a stupifying route on an opposing team instead of watching the snap to the qb, ie, don’t watch the stars , watch the blocks laid in front of them. That way you will learn to enjoy your team and the teamwork that goes into making stars look good. We have everything in place to enjoy a pretty good year. Anything more is gravy. Lets don’t let our star worship overcome the reality that those kids ALL play their hearts out. May you all have more “Woof Woof”s than “Oh No!”s in the coming year.

Meyer should consider this: Tebow already has a Championship ring and a Heisman trophy; if he has to endure another physically punishing year like last year, he may not stick around for his Senior year.
UGA looks impressive and Stafford has continued to improve, but it’s the intangibles that trip up a team every time. I’ve always maintained UGA is the luckiest team in college football, and they’ll need it to come out on top. Should be interesting to watch.
Wilson gets the bad rap for what has been a lackluster team effort and poor coaching. More proof that talent alone will not get you to the top. BTW, where is Brodie Croyle these days? (Seriously, I can’t recall…)
Why are we even talking about Garcia any more? He’s on his 3rd second chance; how many does he get?
Crompton gets the nod. At least in the beginning. We’ll see what happens after his first tough game.
I’ve never seen Snead play, so I have no opinion there. However, Houston Nutt is exactly known for developing quarterbacks.
I wonder who our QB will be…

Tony does seem to have something against LSU, but a lot of fans do as both of their championships are pretty controversial. They should have played USC for their first one, and still get mad when you say co-champs even though they were. Last year was one of those once in 50 years deals where a two loss team was picked over a bunch of other mediocre two loss teams. This is not a pro-UGA thing either as about ten teams had a reason they should and should not have been in the championship game. Really there should not have been a champion last year as a two loss team without a playoff does not deserve the title.

Oledawg, check your schedule. The game is played on SEPTEMBER 13! So take your little jab at me and… well you know.
Garcia’s run-ins pale in comparison to some other players. To me he’s acted childish and immature. I mean keying a car…SHEESH! He’s squandering a great opportunity. I for one do not want him to take a snap until he’s proven he’s grown up. But I’ll trust in Spurrier to make the correct call.

Even as a die-hard Dawgs fan, I’ll admit Tebow’s a stud & the best athelete playing QB in the SEC. However, Stafford’s the best passer with the best arm (bar none). If the Dawgs WR corps can step up (like Durham did late last year), the OL stays healthy & out of trouble…UGA should indeed be an offensive juggernaut. We’ve got loads of talent & potential on boths sides of the ball. I’d like to see CMR use Southerland & Chandler alot more, as defenses will be keyed on the TBs & WRs…and Southerland is a proven weapon who gets in the endzone. Durham’s the most under-utilized WR, and we need to better utilize his size & hands. I look for the Dawgs to go 11-1 (possibly dropping the LSU game) & win the East…then revenge the earlier LSU loss in the SEC Championship game. Thereafter, it’s the BCS Championship & bringing the title back to the Classic City!!! GOOO DAWGS!!!

Quarterbacks do not win SEC titles, but they can cause a team to lose them. Stafford and Tebow are positive difference makers, and they will be guiding the two best teams in the SEC this year. Yes, Tony, if you watched spring practice in Gainesville…the changes (and major differences) are Moody and Rainey in the backfield. In Rainey’s case, speed kills. Imagine, also, Rainey opposite Harvin (who is the best individual talent in the SEC and who is way ahead of recovery schedule by the way) in the slot positions. Who do you cover? Also, you have 10.2 100 meter speed coming in this fall in freshman, Jon Demps, who also can catch the ball out of the backfield. Put all three on the field at once and you have an offensive coordiators nightmare. No team will have the talent to cover the speed Florida will have on offensive. The Gators problem remains on the D side of the ball. Will Omar Hunter, John Brown, Will Hill (all freshman) learn the D soon enough to have the kind of positive impact expected? The Gators will also have the best MLB in the country in Spikes. But can anyone other than Harden play corner? The big question still to be answered, I guess. AND the GATORS will bring their A plus game to Jax this year. Bet on it! No bigger game than that one.

Oooooooooh, scary. I would hardly call taking both teams to the woodshed by a combined 37 points “petty satisfaction”. I call that destruction. It got us a BCS bowl and Florida and Auburn sat at home and watched. Maybe they can form a support group about what big fat meanies Georgia is.
Why would Florida wait until 2008 to exact revenge on Georgia? They had 54 minutes remaining in last year’s game to do something about the excessive celebration. Its like getting punched in the face, running off and hiding, and then sending the guy who punched you an email saying how you’re going to get revenge. Same goes for Auburn. They had the entire 4th quarter to man up and do something about the dancing. Why wait until ‘08? Can you answer that for me tough guy?

Tampa gator…
To answer your question about how to cover UF, it’s simple. You jam the recievers at the line of scrimage and knock them off their routes. All while you bring the rush right through the porous o-line of UF and lay Tebow on his back before he can even look downfield. Knowing Tebow, when he sees the rush coming he will tuck and run for a loss or short gain(against the dawgs) The dawgs are going to sack him just like last year…over and over and over again.
The bigger question here is how do you stop Moreno from getting another 180 yards rushing on you again. You stacked the box with 8 men last year and he still was pulling out 8-10 yard gains. Then when Stafford felt like it, he beat you deep. (80 yard TD & 56 yard TD).If both teams go into this game with all key players it will be the gators who will be scuffling to stop the dawgs.

dawsrule…no one has been able to jam Harvin at the line of scrimmage…no one…not even Georgia last year. And Rainey, who did not play last year due to injury, has the same skills as Harvin (and he is a little faster). Georgia, let me repeat, did not shut down Florida’s offense last year. They just stopped the Gators more than the Gators could stop the Dawgs. I think I said that would continue to be a problem for Florida unless major improvements on the D are realized. I am sorry, I believe Florida has added more key players to it’s offense for next year, with the additions of Rainey (injured, RS freshman), Moody (proven star-caliber player in USC’s backfield as a freshman) and Deonte Thompson (very fast, very talented RS freshman WR). You also dogged the Florida offensive line. Please, read some preseason mags for your information. The 2008 OL for the Gators is considered to be one of the best in the conference, with potential AA’s at center (Pouncey), guard (Tartt), and at OT (Trautwein, who was a preseason AA last year before going down with a knee injury before the season stated…oh, he is back and is better than before). Also, OT (Watkins) is considered to be all-SEC material as well. AGAIN. The problem is not with the Gator offense, my man. No team will be able to match the Gator offense…not even your DAWGS with Mareno. What makes Georgia better right now, my friend, is your defense. If Florida plays marked improvement on the d-side, no team in the SEC will be better than the Gators. But that is a BIG IF right now.

Tebow and Stafford are the class of the QBs in the SEC. Tebow and Stafford are great players that are vital to the success of their respective teams. Hopefully we will not run Tebow to death and our defense will pick up, we certainly have a long way to go on defense. Georgia has a killer schedule and if they survive that, they are more than deserving. Staford really improved last year and if that carries over to this year he should have an outstanding year.

Again Tony, Auburn is still in the SEC, Burns, Todd remember? Please don`t prey on Auburn when they win SEC this year…By the way, Bama lost another starter Z. Knight left the team.

I feel like UT keeps getting left out of all the discussions so far about college football. Has anyone else noticed that they’ve pounded us the last 2 years. I know that will stop this year, but are we selling them short. Maybe it was Ainge that had the Dawgs number, I don’t know. I would much rather them be hyped than us. Woof!

Jonathan Crompton will be the boom or bust of the SEC this season he has the skills and the arm he has some real snaps and an excellent o-line. He may prove to be among the best in the conference.

Where does the SEC find these QB’s?!?!? With the exception of Stafford and Tebow, who are both phenomenal QBs, there’s not a single QB on any other team in the SEC I’d want on my team. The SEC is the fastest, most skilled and flat out best conference in the country, but imagine how much better they’d be with some better QBs.

So I see,the majority thinks it’ll be either UGA OR UF to win the SEC this year.Maybe 15 or 20yrs. ago I would agree with that.Mainly because, the conference weren’t as balance as it is now.I do agree with fans of their school, to pull and believe that their team will win it all or their con. championship,or they wouldn’t be fans at all. But,on the flip side of that, you need to be realistic also.Instead of coming on these boards and other sports cites and making insane comments and making a complete fool of themselves.Example” A vandy fan coming on here saying that they are the most talented team in the SEC and is going to win the NC this year”.No disrespect to the Vandy nation!!But if one was to say something like that,we would think they were joking or just blowing off at the mouth. Now, me myself is a realist. And I think back to last season and I remember thinking after the first couple of weeks of the season, how overrated LSU were and how underrated UGA was.I was one that thought that LSU defense was very overrated, especially after the MISS ST. game.I just remember the bulldogs running on them at will and everytime they dropped back to pass, they emploded. And it wasn’t from the LSU D.,it was Henig throwing it right to them and how long Coach Croom stuck with him(5 or 6 int’s).I think by far that was his worst coaching game of the season, good gameplan however. But with that said,LSU goes on to blowout VT,and i say to myself maybe i was wrong. But I wasn’t,week in and week out,LSU kept surviving games that by all accounts should have lost.Especially the Auburn game, worst offciated game i seen last year. But all the while UGA is winning, despite the lost to a very good SC team(at the time).I’ll admit the TENN. lose was bad but everybody plays a team that they just have trouble with and UT is that to UGA,AU is to UF,LSU is to AU.Now I don’t think UGA should have played for the NC.To me,I think you should do everything you are supposed to do during the season to play for it and not playing in the SECCG,is not doing what you are supposed to do.LSU did, that’s why they did.Because I don’t think it was the LSU players that were responsible for close games and near loses,it was the coach.I do think LSU was the most talented team in the country but their coach also made them the most overrated! It’s going to be very interesting to see what happens when CLM isn’t the more talented team on the feild.I know of at least 3 games were that won’t be the case,UF,UGA,and AU.Without a QB,I can’t see that team winning the west or 10 games.Defence can only take you so far and they were more talented last year.Eventually you’ll have to score some points, ask AU.If UF defence improve, they’ll win the east, and unless Les calls RP back,it’ll be AU from the west.

Actually Ainge started the LSU game, was pulled early due to an injury from prior game…Gimpy leg…What will be interesting Atop Rocky will be the O-Line. They were well trained under Cut to pass block first, run block second. Under Clawson, the option of Foster, Creer and Hardesty (amongst others) will have the O-Line firing off first, dropping back second. The RB’s have been retrained for 2008 not to dance at the line but to hit it and get it. Can’t live on the run alone, so we’ll have to take a wait and see approach on the passing game. There’s talent split wide and they must be fed…Also, Gerald Jones will play a key role keeping defenses honest from the various spots he’ll set up…I see good things developing offensively Atop Rocky. Personally, I hope it bears fruit early and often, yet it’ll be a WIP…We’ll talk Defense another day…

JPW will do fine this year. Bama will be better because the O Line is better. The Boogs(AU for the Dawg Nation) don’t have a QB…they will be in trouble..RTR

war eagle…When it comes to Zeke Knight, please make sure you dont let facts get in your way. Zeke has yet to be cleared of a medical condition he has involving a heart murmur. Also, in 2006, he suffered a minor stroke. It was anticipated that he would not be cleared to play this season. I am sure you, as an AU fan, have another Nick Saban conspiracy theory, but that is the truth. But like I said, dont let the truth get in the way of your trying to take shots at UA!

dawgsrule porous o-line of UF ? By porous, do you mean best in the SEC? You UGA fans seem to forget that The Gator O (with a hurt Tim Tebow ) scored 30 points against you. Now, the O is better. How are you going to stop us? We won’t have to worry about Moreno. With the dawgs down early, it will be up to Stafford to throw is way back into the game.

As far as the pool of QB’s in the SEC and ‘Bama is concerned …
Let’s just make it clear that ‘Bama needs to bring in some fresh capable blood at QB now !~!_!~!
Because John Parker - “Junk Pile” - Wilson ain’t gonna get the job done.
Yes, I am a TIDE FAN and that is why St. Nick needs to clean out the JUNK and start building for a national championship in 2010.
ROLL TIDE, the GA Dawgs should be the only think ‘junk’y in the SEC.

Actually, the Gator O scored 24 points. Stafford gift wrapped 6 for them. :)
And what about the 42 that UGA put up?
All that said, I hope the game lives up to the hype.

Tony, Can’t wait to see your SEC updates on college gameday this year as for the questions:
1.) The Ole Miss and South Carolina game were the only games you needed to watch last year to figure out whose number was gonna be called on 3rd and 3. Meyer wants to go back to a 2006 versioned offense. Tebow being a more mobile versatile Chris Leak and Cam Newton being a battering ram Tebow. Problem is, Tebow could hurt you with the pass in those situations. Cam has struggled to say the least in the passing game. Look for harvin or Rainey to be behind center in some of those situations.
2.) I believe MS has a slump this year. The one thing Georgia lacks in my humble opinion is a big-play receiver. Yes, I know they have one coming in the question is can he make an immediate impact lack harvin did in ‘06. If so you have a championship team, if not, you have a typical UGA team, wins alot of big games but gets beat when a defense figures out the right scheme
3.) JPW will have his hands full every game just making it to a 50% completion mark. The running game looks good but the West is loaded with Strong secondarys (MSU, LSU, Ole Miss) It’s tough to watch that kid not have any options.
4.) No, Rex was late for curfew for the Orange Bowl and Spurrier started Brock Berlin. This kid has been arrested three times… No, he won’t see the field. I hear Jacksonville State give troubled QB’s a second chance.
5.) JC I think will have a small offensive package to work with. He reminds me of Jamarcus, alot of talent but not alot of football I.Q.
Love your stuff Tony, SEC! everything else should be in FCS
