SEC fans should mark their calendars
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Hey, SEC fans, it’s never to early to start marking these dates on you 2008 football calendar:
May 27: That’s when the SEC football coaches will hold their annual meetings in Destin. I’d love to be a fly on the wall. I’m getting word that new Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino might get a pretty chily reception from his fellow coaches. Petrino didn’t endear himself to other coaches in 2003 when he sat on an airport runway near Louisville and talked with Auburn about replacing Tommy Tuberville.
Oct. 11: Petrino takes his Arkansas team to Auburn where Tuberville will be waiting. If Auburn has gotten its new offense figured out by then, this game could get ugly. The pre-game and the post-game handshakes by Petrino and Tuberville will be measured in nano-seconds.
Oct. 25: New Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt makes this first trip back to Arkansas. He turned down a raise and the opportunity to stay as the head hog in order to become an Ole Miss Rebel. A sizable part of the Razorbacks fan base was glad to see him go but Nutt also had his supporters. It should be an interesting reception at Donald W. Reynolds Razorbacks Stadium.
Nov. 1: Georgia and Florida meet in Jacksonville. What will happen if Georgia scores first? What will happen if Florida scores first? Georgia’s decision to rush the field last season put some real spice back into the rivalry. This game has the potential to get a little chippy. Georgia and Florida will probably be the best two teams in the SEC next season. The winner could still be in the race for the national championship.
Nov. 8: Over 30,000 LSU fans made the trek to Tuscaloosa last season just to see their former coach, Nick Saban, and his Alabama team lose to their Tigers. Now Saban must make his first trip back to Baton Rouge since leaving after the 2004 season. It will not be a warm reception.

At least the Nov. 1 comment is about the natural rivalry of the teams in that game, and not an issue brought about due to traitorous coaches (although you could make a case for Cryer).

Watercooler talk. Guy #1, Hey did you hear that Chip Towers thinks UGA will be preseason #1 next year? Guy #2, yea man I heard that, I also heard that Carter Strickland said we should be #1 next preseason. Guy #3, Man I heard Kirk Herbstreit last nite on ESPN say UGA will for sure be in the top 3 next year. All guys leave in agreement talking about the UGA dynasty.Things like ‘man it will be cool playing in the NC game in black jerseys”And so it goes, all the UGA fans are primed for good fortune next year, lest anyhing happens ie: jail time, suspensions, players leaving for the NFL, Fulmer, and Spurrier staying at their schools,Saban actually improving Bama, Tubberville actually having a QB etc.

5 great reasons why the SEC is the BEST conference in the country, hands down. No other conference comes close to having these story lines - or to having this kind of passion, for that matter.
By the way, I’m still laughing at the attendance for the ACC Championship game. PATHETIC. Would NEVER happen in the SEC, NEVER.

Petrino did Blank a favor from all reports. If he was that bad a coach as the players say, why didn’t Blank know? He would have had to fire the guy eventually, why the drama. The SEC is obviously a better place to be than the NFL since the last two to jump ship went to the SEC.

Note to Bobby P.
You got your wish - back at the college level and in the SEC- Guess what, This ain’t the Big East. You have to pack a lunch every week to win here you snake. Nutt will have Ole Miss winning 7-8 games a year soon. Vandy, UK, & MSU are well coached, competitive programs right now. The Razorback program is maybe the 7th best program in conference and they got what the deserve when you slipped in there this week. Your own draft pick from Arkansas is warning everyone down there what an s.o.b. you are. The best thing that will happen to Arkansas is the day you slip out of there in 2009 because you won’t be able to take the heat. Problem is they are to damn blind or stupid to relize that right now. As a Falcon’s fan I thank you for leaving! As a Dawgs fan I don’t really have an opinon as The Hogs have not and will not cause UGA any problems. I hope Tommy T. hangs 70 on your weasel back side next fall.

To Tony, you forgot about November 29, 2008 when Paul Johnson and Company puts an end to all this MBS, that means Muttland Bovine Skullduggery.
And to Jake in Charleston, why did you bring the ACC into this mix? But since you did, put the ACC Championship game in Atlanta and/or Charlotte, and it would sell out. Having the game in Jacksonville did not work. Believe if you check the records, the SEC Championship game did not do that well when it was in Birmingham the first two years.
It’s in Tampa the the next two years and then in Charlotte. Watch the attendance then, Muttlander.
You all may call the SEC having story lines, I call it having nothing but drama.

Guys you have to admit, that for the most part UGA fans are just silly. Everyone likes to pull for their team, but UGA fans take their fandom beyond.Always seem to get all geeked up about a popularity contest. If a writer or sportscaster says something good about UGA, then it must be the gospel.Let someone have a question about UGA and that person is an idiot. What’s even funnier is to hear a UGA fan call another southern teams fans redneck. Now there is one for you.

Petrino coming to the Plains is not that big of a deal… remember, the AU family already showed their support for Tuberville in that situation by firing the President. It wasn’t Petrino’s fault, he was presented an offer to coach in the SEC and he listened. Wouldn’t have you?
Saban back in Baton Rouge… Nutt back in Fayetteville - The SEC is going to need to be broadcasted on TNT, since they “know drama”.

I think that all these scenerios are just fuel for more fire. Petrino and the other SEC coaches know how life is with head coaches. When they next meet, nothing out of the ordinary will happen. When Houston Nutt returns to Fayetville, he will hear more cheers than boos. After the first ten minutes of the 2008 Georgia - Florida game, last year’s game will have no significance. The Nick Saban thing will be old news next year and life goes on. Finally, as a devout Bulldog fan, I think our coaching staff is concentrating on beating Hawaii and finishing a great recruiting year. They aren’t too concerned about preseason ratings.

The “announced” crowd of 53,000 at the ACC CG must have been for tickets sold. Once every now and then the cameras would show the upper deck (sideline shot) and the seats there were empty. Let alone the end zone seats. I bet there weren’t 25,000 people actually there.

Tony, you’re dead on with these upcoming dates. Should make for some interesting SEC drama. As a GT alum and fan, it’s still fun to watch the underlying stories that make college football so much fun. I really don’t care for the Big 11 and hope to see the SEC teams beat them. Yes, they call themselves the big 10 but last time I checked, there were 11 teams in the conference. No other conference has identity problems like that so get over yourself Big 11.
To the Ugag fans, you’re still in a no win situation. You’re supposed to be Hawai’i since they’re a WAC school. Yes, I’m pulling for Hawai’i to win but it’ll be a great game to watch either way. But I take some comfort in a viewpoint I developed while I lived in Hawai’i for 3 years on military assignment - - no matter if things go bad during the Sugar Bowl, they’re hopping on a plane and going home to Hawai’i.

Seriously, is there anything better than SEC football? This season isn’t even over and we are already caught up in the drama unfolding next year. Heck, we aren’t even done w/ the coaching carousel in the SEC yet. Les Miles “new contract” w/ LSU still has a Meee-chigan clause (& they seem awfully quiet right now…)
As a Hog fan I think this is a great hire, even factoring the current venom surrounding Petrino’s timing. Give me a break w/ all the moaning! Free agency killed any sense of loyalty to teams associated with the NFL. This is a business and the Hogs were making a move quickly to appease the restless natives. Petrino had been in talks w/ Blank for weeks about being unhappy.
So the guy wants to coach in the SEC really bad. He now has his opportunity. My expectations as a fan are in line w/ his compensation. He is now one of the best paid coaches in the league. Simply Produce!
Wasn’t a Nutt hater, but didn’t love his coaching all the time. He won 18 games in 2 years and the timing was poor for UA and the cranky fanbase to push him out. Petrino is being paid to do better than that- or at the very least install an offense that includes the forward pass so that SEC defenses don’t stack the box and have varying levels of success stopping our vaunted run game.
I am glad that he will be vilified on Saturdays for the next several years. Spotlights draw attention and the $$ spent by the Hogs indicates commitment from the program to step up. Granted, we are not in the top 5 teams in the SEC. Why shouldn’t we try to make changes that potentially get us there?
I look forward to the battle w/ more than worthy SEC foes and hope you win em all- except 1.

I wish we could stick an overrated Ohio State in the SEC for a year! Next year we are all going to beat each other up then watch an 11-1 OSU team prance into the BCSNC. Hey, The Kig, I didn’t understand all the vitriol that the Louisville fans were spewing about Petrino when he left their school to coach the Falcons. In fact, if you take this last week from Flowery Branch and last January from Louisville, the message about Petrino is exactly the same: GOOD RIDDANCE!
While I don’t blame Petrino for leaving, he could have done so with more class.
But The Kig, you’re looking through this with pig-colored glasses. When he leaves your team in the middle of the night for a better job, and there are far better jobs out there than the Arkansas job, then you too will be saying the exact same thing that Louisville and Atlanta fans and players have said.
If you don’t take this to heart, you’re a fool.

Hey TDone, the SEC Championship game sold out both times it was in B’ham. So much for that pathetic argument.
And it has sold out every time in Atlanta too in case you forgot.

The good people in Arkansas stil have time to spit out the stinky bait Peterino set them up with. On character issues alone, not counting the disloyalty he has shown his last two employers, Arkansas should reject this guy before the season starts. I am personally disappointed in Frank Broyles for being a party to bringing someone with so little integrity in to Arkansas to LEAD and GUIDE these young men. What are the expectations there? Just wins, what they look like means nothing? Apparently the new AD in Arkansas is a spineless wimp with as little character as Bobby Petrino.
We have now established WHAT Bobby Petrino is, the only issue is how cheap will he sell his heart for the next time?

One thing I am sure of is that Rennie Curran and Rashard Jones have something in store for Teblow.
Auburn, Georgia, and LSU proved last year that when you taked Teblow’s 5 yard runs away from him, he’s just a mediocre QB.
Trust me when I say more SEC teams will pick up on that. Teblow will disapoint and then, in two years, he won’t even be drafted.
Can you say BUST or ALEX SMITH?

six steps to mega bucks in coaching 1-become an oc and install a high risk, high scoring offense.so what if you have turnovers, that’s the dc’s problem.clock management is for sissies, you want big numbers.shop your resume as soon as possible. 2-look for a small school,or a big school with a losing record.it is easier to turn around a bad program than manage a winning program.turning a program around will get lot’s of press, win 8 games and you look like a genius. 3-don’t worry about graduation rates, who cares how many will graduate in six years.yeah, like you will be there.forget red shirting players, the future is now! 4-sign a big long term contract, then start talking to some pro teams. 5-become a pro coach, this gets lots of free pr and looks good on your resume 6-have your agent start contacting college ads as soon as possible.you can’t cut it in big boy football anyway and you want a really fat contract with lot’s of perks!

Not a fool- I know exactly what we are getting. He has a $2.85M buyout for 4 years. He didn’t have one w/ the Falcons. Without a $6M buyout, Tubby may have been calling the Hogs last week. If someone is willing to pay that, then by default he has had success here. This is definitely a risk by the Hogs. This is a high stakes game of poker and we just RAISED.
Ask yourself why he takes a $2M paycut to coach in college. The Vick siutation, not suited for the NFL game, Atlanta sucks and will always suck, coach in the SEC… don’t know, don’t care, whatever. He is still a good coach and just puts one more shark in the tank of the SEC.
This charade that we try to create about coaches and players not being mercenaries is being peeled away. As a very well paid sales rep I can tell you that being a hired gun is not such a bad thing. I know that if I don’t produce, I get fired. They know if they don’t pay me a boatload to produce, I go to one of their competitors and take business away.
I get it- he may leave. Fine. My loyalty is to the program, not to a coach.

Hey “TDone” - check your facts, boy! SEC Champ game DID sell out in B’ham and was only moved for better facilities. You can move that ACC game all you want, but you’ll always have an excuse for NOT selling all the tickets. Real fans travel, bottom line. Prime example - UGA “over-selling” their allotment of tickets to the sUGAr Bowl - which is supposedly a “lose lose” situation. Imagine how many we would have sold if it were a “win win” situation.
Seriously, TDump - if you can’t take the heat, get out the kitchen.
That ACC game was for all the marbles: 1. Conference Championship 2. Guaranteed BCS bowl berth 3. Potential chance to play for the MNC

Richt is a good coach. But a question is, most people and UGA fans will agree that UGA has more talent than anyone in the SEC. True they have alot of young talent. But what about UF or even UT? They have equal or more young talented freshmen than UGA. So using your own UGA logic Fulmer would be the best coach in the SEC right now. Took his young inferior team to the SECCG. IMagine that, twice Petrino has gotten jobs before even getting permission from the Falcons. Predictions on your dates:
Petrino will try to gloss over his reentry into college football
Auburn will beat Arkansas by 20 points. The handshake will be quick, but one with a tight grip from Tubs.
Ole Miss beats Arkansas and Petrino now looks for another job.
UF scores first, acts with class, and then beats UGA by 20 with revenge in mind.
Saban takes his overachieving Bama team and upsets LSU while LSU fans finally realize Les was lucky, can’t coach, and should have gone to Michigan.

I like all teams. I can pull for anyone pro or college. What I get a kick out of is these fans (mostly UGA fans) that get all giddy everytime someone gives them a bit of praise. Now for the guy that said Fulmer is a backstabbing whatever. He may be I don’t personally know that so it would be unfair for me to say. I only speak in truths not opinions.

baloney: shut up. What fan worth a flip is going to NOT get excited when others talk up their team. Truth is, EVERYONE who knows anything about college football is talking the Dawgs up, so get used to it. We have several good years ahead of us. These things go in waves, and we are riding ours up & up.
Interesting to see the top 5 stories in the SEC and not have Spurrier mentioned. I wonder how he enjoys living life in the shadows? I think the SEC has a great chance to win all but 1 or 2 of its bowl games, and 2008 will be a ton of fun getting prepared for over the off-season. However, less clobber the Rainbows first. Go Dawgs!

boots, SOS is off thinking of ways to rename the #50 (half a hun’erd is getting old), relate shoes to a university, and beat Vandy. Not to mention something cute to say about why Miss State is taking their place in a bowl game. He is thanking his lucky stars that he ended up 6-6 and didn’t make a bowl. That way he won’t have a losing season after “contending” for the SEC East title earlier in the season. That SOS may be silent but you ca hear the wheels grinding all the way up here in Kalamazoo. BTW, I don’t think he has been spotted in Ann Arbor yet.

I believe the reference to Fulmer being a backstabber goes back to when he got the head coaching job at UT. Johnny Majors was the head coach and had to take a leave for some reason—-medical, I think, memory isn’t what it used to be—-and Fulmer was named the interim coach. Word was that Fulmer worked behind the scenes and got himself the job permanently and Majors’ leave of abscence became permanent. I do remember that Majors was incredibly bitter about it but no recollection as to whether he really should have been or not.

i can’t believe blank’s reaction to petrino quitting. he feels abused? blank is acting like his team is 10-3,not 3-10. petrino had a free pass this year , with the vick soap opera, if he would have won he would of been a coaching superstar. but they were 3-10 and terrible and showing no improvement. petrino should been fired! my sister could have coached a 3-10 team. petrino failed miserably, the falcons should be happy! quit whining blank . petrino was smart to quit, he knew he was shooting blanks, out of ideas. barnhart get over the petrino auburn ad meeting , your trying to add fuel to the fire that was burnout 1 month after it happened.

baloney,i think i can truthfully say that i have never critiqued any coaches on field decisions, except maybe for miles, but his crazy calls have worked so far.i am not on the sidelines,so i really don’t know whats happening.i do read extensively and i try to keep up with sports.my opinion on fulmed is based on three widely acceted facts, 1-he turned on johnny majors.his own boss!it may have been time for majors to go,but that was ut’s decision.if fulmer honestly felt he couldn’t back majors he should have stayed out of the process. 2-fulmer turned in alabama. 3-fulmer turned in south carolina.i am retired military and i don’t like rats.the press may consider”whistle blowers”as heros,to me they are rats.as far as facts versus opinions, the only fact you have stated so far is that ut beat uga head to head and went to the seccg, which is not news to the bulldog nation.the rest of your posts have consisted totally of your opinion.you claim to have extensive football knowledge, why don’t you share that with us?i have never heard you talk x’s and o’s,or the spread offense that is all the rage now.nor have i heard you talk about tenuta’s blitzing d as opposed to coach willie’s two deep zone or recruiting,or anything else that really matters.all i have seen you do is attack uga and her fans.i am rapidly forming the OPINION that you don’t know crap!

Why do you think Blank is so upset? Didn’t he fire Dan Reeves before the season was over when Dan Reeves didn’t have his star quarterback? How can he say that Petrino didn’t finish what he started? Blank deserves what he got. Now lets hire a character guy with fire like Mike Singletary and turn this thing around.

How do you “get the word” that coaches are going to snub another coach at an event in over 5 months from now? How ludicrous. Yea, you got the word when you talked to the guy in the mirror after having a few drinks.

shane #1, Were you at UT when Fulmer turned on Johnny Majors or are you just taking other peoples (writers included) opinion? I think that call was made by Doug Dickey to oust Majors. Fulmer, Donnan, Spurrier, and Houstn Nutt ALL turned Bama in.There may have been more, but those are fact. Heck Donnan was even recruiting/cheating to get Albert Means. UT backed off long before that battle got as ugly as it did because they knew it was a “pay for a player” That is fact too. WHy do you think UGA was on probation right after that? I’ll tell you why, because Bama basically led the NCAA to UGA over the Means deal. The reason Fulmer got blame was because Bama hadn’t beat them in a # of years and it is their biggest rivalry (yes to some bama folks even bigger than Auburn)Now, you want to bring up South Carolina? Have no idea about that deal. I’d have to research that. But let me tell you about Fulmer, yes he may be overweight (but show me a lineman in his late 50’s that isn’t over weight) Also, he has been associated with that school fince the late 60’s with all but 2 years as a player or a coach. The players current and former love him. His coaches love him. The only people that may not regard him too high are the teams fans that he beats with regularity.Correct me if I am wrong but I’m guessing that even UGA would like to have a lifelong successfull coach leading their organization.

Notice a trend…the powers that be in the SEC wanted to move the game to the ATL (and Atlanta wanted it) and it’s been a rousing success.
But if you think the game would sell-out anywhere, move it to the Superdome and not have LSU in the game. Move it to Charlotte, and not have South Carolina in the game. Move it to Nashville, and not have UT or Vandy in the game.
Now for the Muttlanders in the Sugar Bowl…so you sell out your allotment of tickets. I’m impressed. That proves what.
It’s all about marketing my friend, my friend:
Product: Conference Championship Game
Price: Ticket, travel, and lodging, TBD
Promotion: Championship Game with BCS Bowl game at Stake
Place: ACC in Jacksonville or SEC in Atlanta Atlanta. Have you ever tried to get from Blacksburg or Boston to Jacksonville? Try it and have a nice day doing it.
Again, if you feel the SEC game would sell out wherever, put at Dolphins Stadium in Miami at the end of the regular season and I’ll put the ACC game in the Georgia Dome at the end of the regular season.
Pull your head out of your posterier!
Case closed, Muttlander

Man ESPN must be desperate. They are trying to force Les Miles to Michigan. I thinkn they must be doing that to save face and be able to say “we told you so”. They also are saying Rodriguez may be going. In addition they reported that UT’s OC (Cutcliffe) accepted their HC job. Cutcliffe in the meantime said he was not offered the job. ESPN is running with it that he accepted. Now DUke denies even offering it to him. Makes me want to never watch ESPN or any other news outlet. As far as your “location” argument - I don’t recall my ticket to NOLA being cheap, so don’t give me the “try getting to Jax from Boston” crap. Try getting from CHS to NOLA, not quite an easy or cheap task - but I’ll damn sure be there no matter what.
I also don’t recall ATL being an easy place to get to from Gainesville or Fayetteville, Arkansas - but the place is STILL a sellout, ALWAYS. Face it - It’s the Almost Competitive Conference!!!!

baloney, thank you for replying to my post.we disagree on fulmer, but i don’t mind that,i do resent mindless insults.i know of many ut fans that are not fond of fulmer and some that would like to see him gone.that is never here nor there as any college coach will make enemys amoung the fans.i have not mentioned coach fulmer’s weight today and i am an old lineman in my fifties,so i really can’t say too much about weight.i was too light for an o lineman so i went to jr college to put on weight, there i was switched from ot to lb,which was a lot more fun.now that i don’t need any extra lbs they just seem to appear, one of life’s ironies i guess.again, thank you for your reply and for being civil,i will be the same in the future.BTW,my dad was a great football fan and had played for mercer{yes they had a football team back then},by the time i came along the “mercer bears”fb team was a thing of the past and my dad was a uga fan.he had much respect for all the great athletes no matter what uniform they wore.he had seen trippi and sinkwich and billy cannon and starr and tucker fredrickson, all the sec greats.he put johnny majors in the same class with these guys.i think majors deserved better.

shane, I did fail to mention this. I have had the chance to meet Fulmer 2-3 times. Granted I couldn’t tell you everything about him, bu my view was that he is a first class, hard nose, fierce competitor. You can see that in his eyes. He has been able to maintain his staff without defections. Very well respected by those that have played for him. Now, I never met Johnny Majors, but I can tell you that Johnny Majors was and is the man. Johnny Majors is pretty much Tennessee football. The whole Majors family will always be the first name in UT football.I hated to see him get treated the way he did, but in all fairness it was not ALL of Fulmers doing. The AD acted too quickly in the assumption that Majors had had a heart attack. WHen he didn’t it was too late to go back and change things.I get aggravated when people talk about “Fat Phil” etc. then give Weiss, the guy at Kansas,Maryland etc. a free pass in that reagrd. Sensitive I guess.

A few more years like the Falcons had this year and pro football in Atlanta will serve a martket that can’t afford it and the SEC market will be the benefactor as the educated and well paid feel more bang for their buck and community belongingness with college football. I suspect the ACC will pick up too, with Davis at Carolina, Johnson at Tech and Cutcliff at Duke, but they have a long ways to go. The SEC is a league of its own and getting better. Now that college allows corporate sponsorship which product is becoming a more wholesome image for these corporations. These sponsors are going to be taken directly from the pros.

I love it. Have any of you people ever been to Fayetteville? Petrino wanted out of that cesspool known as Atlanta. His family was miserable and Arkansas, like it or not, has a lot of potential as the only major university in the state. We are #15 on the Forbes list of richest programs.
Arkansas may be small, backwoods…we can at least flush our toilets when we want, water our grass when we want and not sit in traffic for hours everyday just to get home from work. Yeah, that Atlanta is a great place!

Tony, the AJC mock BCS playoff is retarded. The good thing about college football is the regular season means something. The playoff shouldn’t rely on polls. The 6 major conference champions (SEC,ACC,BEast, Big10,Big12,Pac10) plus 2 at-larges should have a playoff based on regional games. Example this year-VT v. WVA, LSU v. OSU, OK v. BYU, USC v. HW. Play 2 rounds and then play the final Jan 1st or 2nd. I’d watch.

Observations from the above:
No way Spurrier beats Georgia next year. He’s done. This is a revenge game for the Dawgs and it will be a whuppin’.
No way Florida beats Georgia by 20. Not with that Gator “defense.” Tebow may be healthy, and Emmanuel Moody may be the second coming of Emmitt Smith, but the Dawgs still hung 42 on the lizards this season, and most of the playmakers that did that are coming back.
No way Tech beats Georgia anywhere, with any coach, in 2008/2009. They lose 17 starters this season. Johnson will win, but he’s starting over. The streak goes to nine before the Jackets even have a shot.
Washaun Ealey will commit to Georgia early. Mark it down. That will mean Knowshon, Caleb King, Dontavious Jackson, Richard Samuel and Washaun Ealey—all four star or better backs—will be in the RB stable in Athens in the coming years. Scary for the rest of y’all, isn’t it?

Mr. College Football rarely gets it right — so don’t get too excited about what he writes about. Will there be drama in the SEC West.Certainly, these ladies that are coaching those SEC teams all love a little soap opera. Look at who were are admiring here. Houston Nutt — an affair with a local TV anchor (and hundreds of love emails); Tubby, Petrino, Saban — all w*******; leaving Croom the only coach there that can actually command some respect. It doesn’t take an SEC expert or Mr. CF to figure that when the miscreants get together the b*** slapping is soon to follow.

May 27——These guys are professional coaches, and they all have plenty of their own problems without carrying on any blood feuds on behalf of Tommy Tuberville. I’m sure CTT is no personal fan of Bobby Petrino, but let’s not over-dramatize. This is mostly grist for these two coaches, and sports columnists who like drama.
October 11——I understand CTT might have some hard feelings, but do the Auburn players and faithful really care?
October 25——Yeah, this one is personal. Houston Nutt no doubt feels some anger and bitterness toward Arkansas fans, a large segment of whom had it in for him, and CHN has now added some fuel to the fire by taking the head coaching job at an SEC West division rival. Unless, the Razorbacks’ two starting running backs return (doubtful), CHN and Ole Miss may get the last laugh in ‘08.
November 1——The Dawgs will not repeat their motivational demonstration in the end zone; otherwise, they risk a game-changing penalty and SEC-imposed sanctions. There will not be a second warning and a pass for coach-sanctioned intentional penalties next season … for UGA or any other SEC team. Expect the talent and quality of play on the field to be the highest that this game has seen for years.
November 8——Expect those crazed Cajuns to talk a lot before, during and after the game, and they would do so even if Saban weren’t coaching the Tide.
P.S. Guys, I just read the whole string above. Y’all seriously need to lighten up. It’s just a game, nobody on this blog either plays or coaches in the SEC, and it certainly does not merit insulting your friends and neighbors. Seriously.

“AtlantaSucks”——It’s a shame you haven’t spent much time in Atlanta, and thereby come to appreciate the city’s many fine points. Sure the old downtown area has its share of urban issues, but so does Little Rock, and Little Rock has far fewer redeeming qualities than Hotlanta does. Hope you have a very Merry Arkansas Christmas.

P.S. My shower still worked this morning, and we got over an inch of rain yesterday. Life is good.

hg, ACC football teams played SEC football teams in 5 regular season games during the 2008 season:
UF 45, FSU 12
UGA 31, GIT 17
LSU 48, VT 7
FSU 21, Bama 14
Clemson 23, USC 21
Edge: SEC 3-2
The SEC champion whipped the ACC champion by 41 points. You will also note that the SEC’s cumulative margin of victory in those 5 games is 80 points. Until Miami and FSU return to national prominence, it’s likelier to get uglier for the ACC. Miami starts its schedule in Gainesville next year, and expect USC to beat Clemson next year.

Atlanta Gator- I wasn’t talking about Little Rock, I was talking about Fayetteville. It’s so bad in Atlanta that your professional athletes are getting carjacked. I’m not sure if there has ever been a carjacking in Fayetteville?
I’m very, very familiar with Atlanta. I know all of the fine sights and I know that you will sit in traffic to get to them.

Reference Bobby Petrino, As soon as I heard abou this, I said to a friend somthing is just not quite right about this. Then, the Michael Jackson impersonator, Jerry Jones’s name show up. This is why we should be wary of Arkansas, they have low life grads like Jones, manipulating not only the NFL, but now the SEC. Let’s see how long it takes them to be on probation with the “crook” at the wheel now. As for all of you Hog fans out there, I wish you the best.
