The Fearless Friday forecast
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
1: Clemson at North Carolina: Saturday’s game with North Carolina is the kind that scares Clemson fans to death. The Tigers are coming off one of the biggest wins of the Tommy Bowden era at Florida State last week. Clemson is now back in the hunt for the ACC Atlantic Division. In the past, this is when the Tigers tend to let down and lose to an inferior opponent. Playing at home, this Clemson team is too good to let that happen. At least I think it is.
2: Colorado at Georgia: Georgia’s defense is pretty good. It might be great but I have to see it against an SEC contender. The offense is a work in progress under The Kid. Saturday’s game with the 0-3 Buffs is about getting ready to play Ole Miss on the road next week and Tennessee at home on Oct. 7. Just remember that Colorado had a bunch of starters returning and that Dan Hawkins is a good coach. The light is going to come on sooner or later. But it ain’t going to happen Between the Hedges. Not with that defense.
3: Boston College at N.C. State: When his team lost to Akron two weeks ago N.C. State coach Chuck Amato noted that Akron takes academic non-qualifiers. After getting thumped at Southern Miss (37-17) last week, Amato wondered if he set expectations too high at N.C. State and compared himself to Lee Iacocca. God bless Coach Amato. He is the gift who keeps on giving. Saturday he plays another talented, well-coached team. Stay tuned. After three close games, two decided in overtime, BC is ready to break out.
4: Wake Forest at Ole Miss: Wake Forest has lost its quarterback, Ben Mauck, and its best running back, Micah Andrews. Still the Deacons are 3-0. Few people outside the football world know this, but Jim Grobe is one of the best coaches in the country. Can he come up with a plan to allow his little people to beat the big, fast people of Ole Miss? The Rebels ought to win this one despite their struggles of the last two weeks. But a little bird tells me that Wake Forest will do something special on Saturday in Oxford.
5: Alabama at Arkansas: There is no logical reason to pick Alabama in this game. The Tide is 3-0 against Hawaii, Vanderbilt and Louisiana-Monroe. The running game, which is supposed to be the strength of the team, has not been impressive. Arkansas is playing at home and has placed its hope in Mitch Mustain, the talented freshman quarterback. But I just get the feeling that the Tide has been kind of laying in the weeds and getting its ducks in a row for this game. I think Joe Kines is a great defensive coordinator and has a plan for the rookie QB. I think Alabama will win the game. But, as we prove in this space each week, I could be wrong.

If Tech isn’t going to use its stadium on Saturdays, maybe there could be a flea market there. Attendance would probably top most games, anyway.

Colorado is in for a rude awakening if they think this Saturday is their breakout game… Stafford, Texas Ranger and Co. will take care of business against a mediocre defense while Charles and Quinten tap the rockies all day long. Dawgs 45 Buffs 6 (no shutout, no problem…seeing that Colorado has the #2 kicker in college football behind Coutu)

LOL toemeetsleather. Might want to take it down a notch. You guys are good this year, but you aren’t going to be beating UGA this year or anytime in the near future. And since when did 7-5 seasons make a dynasty? (At schools other than Notre Dame anyway).

GaTech is ok this year, BUT as usual they’ll lose when they’re not suppossed to. You know, kind of like the Duke game last year. The thing true GT fans should worry about is that RBall just had a good game, which means (if History repeats itself) that he’s due for a screw-up. While I don’t know the complete schedule, Miami, although down, will rally back for revenge this year, and Clemson will also win. Add the 1 or 2 games in there that they’ll lose that they shouldn’t, and it makes for a 8-4 or 7-5 season. Same ol’ same ol’ (after they (again) get thumped by UGA).

Ummm…Toemeetsleather…Tech needs to learn how to run the ball before they are considered a powerhouse. I was there last night and Reggie Ball still can’t read a defense. Calvin is one of the best College players I have seen in a while, but it is a shame that he is in the Decoy21 offense or whatever Tech thinks they are running. Dawgs need to roll the next two weeks so we can push Fat Fulmer 1 step closer to a pink slip. I hate Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow…..thats all I got!!!!

I think everybody knows the real reason people hate UGA is not because of the school itself. Its that every white trash scumbag who didnt go to college comes out of the woodworks at claims them as their ‘team’. If you didnt go to that school, DON’T CLAIM IT AS YOURS AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH. Not directed at anyone on this blog, but its true for everyone. UGA, please beat someone before your hick, jock redneck fans open their mouths. Inbred mo-mos from ellijay and sister-fondling morons from waycross, we know you like UGA, but this year just isnt their year.

Kraig, settle down man. There’s a line between trash talking and outright hate. Tech is 3-1 after playing Notre Dame, Samford, Troy, and UVa. It ain’t like ya’ll are beating up on “somebodies” while we keep beating “nobodies”.

Tech Fans - you are right. Tech looks to be a monster this year. UVA, Samford, Troy and an outrageously overrated ND are serious measuring stick material. What a joke! 7-5 or 8-4 with pitiful bowls EVERY year and yet you come on here and diss the Dawgs? I think that says it all about your grasp on reality. Hate the Dawgs? Fine, you are definitely entitled, but please let’s not even compare UGA and Tech football. You are familiar with comparing apples to oranges, right? Win on the field against the Dawgs and then fine - smack away. 24-7 against UVA? LOL! UVA looked absolutely awful and all Tech can do is pull out a 17 point win. PATHETIC!
GO DAWGS!!!

The Jackets have nothing to write home about but with the lack of talent in the ACC (Always Crappy Conference) maybe Tech can make it to bowl eligibility. The blue field in Boise seems to be right up their alley.

Tech’s o line is not very good especially the run blocking. They were totally missing blocks all night, not even touching the intented target. Colorado may be the worst 1A team in the country, if not Virginia. Wake will beat maybe the worst team in the SEC in Mississippi. Wake has at least three teams below them in the ACC, one of them in Atlanta last night. Another is playing Clemson this weekend. The only reason this is a contest is bad blood of an old ACC rivalry but Clemson will win big this year. BC will have a harder time with NC State than predicted but will win. Just the way BC plays football with a lot of running makes this one closer than it should be. Alabama should kill Arkansas but the big back for Arkansas that missed the USC game is back and he may keep it close. I would say Alabama by a touchdown.

Can I Speak To The Manager?
A sexy woman went up to the bar in a quiet rural pub. She gestured alluringly to the bartender who approached her immediately. She seductively signaled that he should bring his face closer to hers. As he did, she gently caressed his full beard.
Are you the manager?” she asked, softly stroking his face with both hands.
“Actually, no,” he replied.
“Can you get him for me? I need to speak to him,” she said, running her hands beyond his beard and into his hair.
“I’m afraid I can’t,” breathed the bartender. “Is there anything I can do?”
“Yes. I need for you to give him a message,” she continued, running her forefinger across the bartender’s lips and slyly popping a couple of her fingers into his mouth and allowing him to suck them gently.
“What should I tell him?” the bartender managed to say.
“Tell him,” she whispered, “there’s no toilet paper, hand soap, or paper towels in the ladies room!”

You picked some awful games to make your fearless predictions on. So who’s going to win the games between Wisconsin vs. Michigan; Notre Dame vs. Michigan State & Troy vs. Nebraska (my personal upset special, go Troy). You got to do better than that if your going to call yourself Mr. College Football.

While Tech’s defense looked good last night, to call the Jackets great after losing to Notre Dame and b* slapping Samford, Troy, and Virginia is overreacting. I attended the UVA game last night, and even the Tech fans next to me were puzzled at how horrible the Cavaliers were in nearly every phase of the game. I believe Samford gave you guys more of a challenge.

What a night we had last night on the ole flats. I got in free since there were about 20,000 empty seats and the AD did not want the nation to see all the empty seats. Hah….. We had more fans there this time than the other team. Everyone was dressed just like me. I felt right at home wearing my leisure suit. All we needed was some disco and I would have been a boogie fever. Reggie completed more passes to Calvin than he threw interceptions. You know these Yellow Jackets are coming around. I bet we could beat NC State by at least a touchdown if ole Chan does not go back to calling plays again. I am calling my boss and getting a few days off for bowl season. I know we are going bowling. I hope it is not Idaho again. It gets cold up there and frankly I had no fun last year in California either. Maybe we can go to a warm weather climate like Shreveport or Mobile for a big time game. This year ole Reggie is gonna have a big game and not whine to the refs and pout. Go Jackets…. sting em. bzzzz bzzzz bzzzz

I bleed red and black but I pull for Tech sometimes because they recruited me to play baseball. Here’s what I have to say: Calvin’s phenomenal, your defense is awesome to watch but for crying out loud….Reggie Ball is an absolute embarassment to your program. He complains every time he gets hit, it almost makes you not want to pull for Tech, he can’t read a defense, I’ve never seen a QB throw away more balls out of bounds and tuck and run while he has an open receiver. I’ve also talked to a couple of guys that were drafted from Tech last year and they hate him too. Can you guys do something about his behavior?
