Could there be a ‘Run Johnny Run’ campaign?

A few weeks back, U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Georgia) let it be known rather definitively that he would not be running for governor the next time around.

Up until that moment, he had been viewed as the top choice of many Georgians, particularly those in metro Atlanta’s business community.

So when Isakson declared his intent to run for re-election for the U.S. Senate, that news disappointed many.

But could Isakson change his mind? After all, the next gubernatorial election will be more than two years from now.

We were on the phone Wednesday, and I told Isakson that I had heard there was a chance he might change his mind.

Here is his answer, word for word.

“It was a tough decision,” Isakson said. “The Senate is a great place to be. For right now, I’m happy doing what I’m doing.”

Do the words: “for right now” show a crack in the door?

You tell me.

Nope, not gonna happen. Isakson is far more valuable where he is. You Dems are out of luck with picking up that seat.

Please Johnny, come home, we desperately need your need leadership at the State House. The last 7 years have been a disaster, and after the end of the session debacle, there is no reason to believe Cagle would be any better. Georgia needs you in Atlanta badly!!!

If Johnny comes home, who’s gonna help pack the pork like that big ol’ fat farm bill he and Saxby just helped push through? Johnny just voted to bring up the global warming bill in the senate when REAL conservatives voted against even allowing it to the floor. How about putting a real conservative in the Governor’s mansion.

Mike: I find it rather funny that Johnny and Saxby voted in favor of helping our State’s number one industry, which is agriculture. If you would get out of the concrete jungle that is Atlanta, you would realize there is a life outside of 285. Also, if you took any basic civics/poli-sci classes, you would know that Johnny and Saxby both voted against cloture on the global warming bill. That KILLS a bill when you don’t get 60 votes. Do your homework before you look like an idiot.

Senator Johnny, yo listen up….stay in DCA. You are more valuable as a US Senator, and over time you’ll do more for Georgia. One caution, try to stay out of the DL/NW mess.

Here’s what Sen. Johnny’s done…In 2000, the U.S. Government had a surplus (profit) of about $237 billion (the largest in U.S. history). In 2006, the budget deficit was about $390 billion (loss))and $4+/gallon gas.
Want four more years of Johnny? “Worry Johnny Worry”.
