Are these Braves destined to be a hard-luck team?

Show of hands: Who stayed up to watch until the bitter end? I have to admit that I couldn’t. I have to be at work at 7 a.m., and I nodded off after that three-run homer in the 12th. The bedroom TV was still on, though, and I woke just enough to hear the final of 12-11 — wow.

I would love for the Braves to be 2-0, and against the Nats and Pirates, they had a great shot at it. They’re not. But they’re not as bad as their 0-2 record might imply, either.

The bullpen suddenly looks like a concern and the defense has been shaky, but I love the fact that there’s absolutely no quit in this team. In the big picture, though, the most important moment of this year’s home opener occurred before the first pitch was thrown, when Tom Glavine walked to the mound in an Atlanta Braves uniform.

I know there are some fans who won’t ever get past the fact that he left for the Mets, and I understand that. I was devastated and tried my best to pretend he didn’t exist for five years.

But the guy was my favorite player for much longer than he was gone, and I’m more than willing to let bygones be bygones and am thrilled that he’s back where he belongs. Judging by the reaction of the crowd during the player introductions, the majority of Braves fans feel the same way.

Now I guess we have to talk a bit about the game, ugly as it was. On the bright side, the Braves again showed serious heart in battling back, Glavine gave up only one earned run in five innings while scattering seven hits, Yunel Escobar went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Mark Kotsay went 2-for-4 and gunned down Jack Wilson at the plate.

For those who see the glasses as half empty, there are the aforementioned issues surrounding the bullpen and defense, along with Mark Texiera’s .100 average (although, you don’t really think he’ll stay there, do you?) and the fact that Kelly Johnson was lifted for Martin Prado in the top of the fourth, because of a strained knee — maybe that explains some of the sloppy defense?

With Opening Night and the home opener now under our belts, what do you think? Is it time to push the panic button about the ‘pen and the hard luck that seems to have surrounded the team, which is already 0-2 in one-run games, or is it too early — and too cold — to draw any real conclusions? Can we push the reset button during the off-day and start over on Wednesday?

Brian McCann, for one, thinks the Braves will have to if they’re going to get anywhere near the postseason: “One-run games, that’s how you get to the postseason,” McCann said. “You’ve got to win them. Hopefully, we can get on the right track.”

By the way, did you notice Chipper’s hustle on that game-tying play in the ninth? Now that’s great baserunning. It looked like a routine final out, but he never gave up on it and was running hard the whole way.

I believe that Brave fans have seem this picture before! You would think ole Cox and the GM would have tried and get some good help in the pen. What about a try-out for bull pen help in Atlanta?

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE OFFSEASON:

McDowell returns to lead Braves for another season of bullpen collapses.

It may just be me. This is an anomoly. Too many strange things things happened in that game last night for this to be a concern going forward. Obviously Joe West was squeezing Glavine to go along with Snell getting strikes on the exact same spots. The way the ball hopped off of bats, and then the improbable Brian McCann pop up. Too many weird things happened in last nights game to be the norm. Reset for Wednesday here comes Tex!

I hope Glavine’s not going to be a five-inning pitcher - we need him to go deeper into games so we’re not using 4 innings of bullpen (or 7, last night). I know it’s only his first start, and doesn’t tell us a lot about how his season will go. He threw a lot of pitches to get through those 5 innings. The way he stranded base-runners all over the place, I’m surprised he only gave up the one earned.

First? Hah! Probably not. Anyways… here’s a piece of my mind after seeing all break loose in the Braves nation.

You all need to get a grip on reality! It has only been 2 games out of a 162-game season! Yes, I was very disappointed with what I saw in those 2 games but it is still early! It is not unusual for a team to be slow coming out of the gates, and finally getting it all together in May/June! Look at the Phillies and Rockies last year!

For a better insight on that, look at the Braves in their glory years of the mid to late 90s. How many times have they started slow in April, and then catching fire in May/June and carrying it through October (not all the way through, mind me)

We have too good of a team to be like this throughout the entire season. We have hungry veterans that will be lighting a fire under their bellies to get their ‘stuff’ together. I am specifically talking about Chipper and Smoltz, and we all know all about their competive fire!

One word for y’all: CHILL!

Sit back and enjoy the ride. I rest my case!

Well, the game wasn’t shown here in Richmond. Not even at the sports bars I frequent. The Braves are fading as America’s team no question. But I digress…

Well we have managed to lose two games to the worst teams (Marlins aside) in the NL. This with our starting pitching being just outstanding. That hurts but the team is showing heart and chemistry which I will take away from the games as positives that will be needed by the Braves or any team if they are to make the post-season.

The Braves seriously need to consider making Kelly Johnson a role-player and put Prado at 2nd base full time. Kelly simply will never be the infielder at 2nd that Prado is. 2nd is the one position on the field that you can go defense for offense and that defense is more important than offense. Prado can hit too. Also consider this. Escobar and Prado have been in the infield together for two years at Richmond. They have the chemistry needed in the middle. That is huge. I look for Prado to take over for Kelly very soon.

The Nats and the Bucs are two of the worst teams in the NL every year.

These past two nights, the Braves have made them look like NL contenders!

Come late July, the Braves ticket office ought to just have “general admission” seating as the so called “die-hard” Atlanta fans will be long gone from the stands.

Maybe the Braves need to build a new stadium.

I’ve lived in Atlanta for the past 6 years and every year has gotten worse for Brave’s fair weather fans. Try enduring 14 straight losing seasons, instead of 14 straight division titles. Give me a break. I still root for the Pirates, and I always will. I can understand some frustration, (i.e. your all-star outfielder dropping a routine flyball to end the game), but get over yourselves and let them play out more than two games before you bury them for the year.

How can you enjoy a game when you ride around for two hours looking for a paid parking slot. All the lots were permit prking with hundreds of vacant slots left at game time. Two Questions!! 1. Why can’t the Braves televise the pre-game activities, notably, the singiong of the Star-Spangled-Banner?

  1. Why does it look like half the players are getting their pants, 2-3 inches too long?

I was at the game and watched in total disbelief. We should have won the game. The defense has got to get better, two runs scored on errors. I thought we were better than this. I don’t know what’s happened with the bullpen either, we were supposed to have the best in the East but it’s far from it right now. This team better come back with a different attitude on Wednesday or we won’t even come CLOSE to making a playoff run.

All you sticks in GA mud please just be quiet (I would say SHUT UP, but I am teaching my son not to say that). The Braves have played what…2 GAMES! Yeh, they have some issues, which are the same issues they have had for the last couple of years…middle relief. I am excited because I have so far seen a group of guys that are trying to win in spite of the poor middle relief. Did any of you guys see the excitement on Tex face when they tied up that game last night? These guys want to win. They are hungry! Later in the year, hopefully we will get some pitchers in here to help but in the meantime, don’t go sending them home in April!

An 0-7 start is not out of the question. This is like watching an extention of the garbage that was last year.

After the day off today, Jurrgens (rookie) on Wed. and Hampton (2 years since a reg. season start). Then the Mets in town for 3 with Johan Santana on Sunday. How many of us would bet the braves win the next 4 of 5 or 3 of the next 5?

There are the same problems. BC has no clue how to handle a bullpen. Boyer should have pitched when Bennett did, and vice versa.

This team swings for the fences in the extra innings EVERYTIME.

This team cannot advance runners. Pitt and DC have crushed the braves in the fundementals.

The defense is awful. 3 errors is terrible.

Francouer is loafing in RF and KJ is asleep at 2nd. McCann loafed on the dropped fly ball. He should have been on 2nd. I think he also thought the ball was gone and loafed when he got gunned at 2nd vs. DC. However, he is the least of our worries.

For all the positive press, and expectations, this team did not tear up Spring. The went .500 and only hit 17 homers in 30 something games. Tex and Chipper will hit, no worries there, however there are no guarantees for anyone else after that. KJ and Escobar are not proven yet. (I love Yunnel, but 94 games a career does not make) Diaz is in his first go round as an everyday player. Kotsay has a great eye, but he is coming off a bad back. This lineup that many thing has no outs, may have more than we thought. They didn’t hit anything for 3/4 of the game.

BC is a great manager, but how many times do we have to watch a game where our bench and bully are empty, and the other manager has at least 2 of each left? I am sick of that. Our bench is terrible, not as bad as last year, but terrible.

This is NOT an impressive or encouraging start.

Uh-Oh! Are we gonna have to watch another year without a good bullpen. That is devastating to morale to have a poor bullpen. I thought it was going to be an “improved bullpen”. I hope the first two games for the bullpen were just an aberration. If you score 11 runs, you should win 100 out of 100 games if you have even just a decent bullpen. Come on Roger and Bobby, get those guys going before it does effect morale in a negative way.

The fact of the matter is that this one lies on Cox in my opinion. This team struggled the last 2 weeks of March and Bobby continue to let them all relax and go through the motions. This team isn’t ready to play ball… period.

I am also tired of hearing about all this ‘heart’ everyone thinks this team shows. Where is the ‘heart’ when they make 3 errors? Where is the ‘heart’ when they need to grind out ABs in the middle innings instead of swinging at the first pitch everytime.

Grinding out ABs in the middle innings, making simple throws, taking pitches when the pitcher can’t throw one over, getting bunts down, moving runners over, that is heart, not hitting fastballs against below average middle relievers while you are behind 5 runs late.

Heart is pitchers hitting their spots, not lighting up the radar gun. Heart is running hard out of the box or around the bases. BTW Props to Chipper, he has shed the loafer label of earlier in his career.

Heart is not trying to end the game on every swing in extra innings.

Heart is doing the little things day in and day out, treating your talent and the game with respect.

I’m sorry, but after three years these bonus babies don’t have it.

holy crap.

On the one hand I guess its good that some fans care, but holy crap. It’s two games. Yes we lost them both, but we lost two games by a total of 2 runs.

This team just looks a bit out of sorts right now. I don’t know what it is, maybe the crazy schedule. However, I don’t think its anything that an off day today and then two more games against the pirates and then the adrenaline of the Mets series won’t cure.

I’ve never particularly liked Roger McDowell as a paitching coach, but this isn’t his fault. The bullpen gave up one run in washington. Yes it was bad last night, but they weren’t helped by the defense either. We need a few normal games to get everybody’s heads right and then lets see where these teams are.

I’m not giving the team a free pass, we should have locked it down last night and we shold have scored more runs in washington, but lets not panic.

Kelly seems to be hurt and I think Bobby should just go ahead and DL him and let prado play until he’s 100% right. Kelly can have a big year this year, but he won’t if he has a nagging knee injury all year. I know he’s a gamer and won’t come out unless he has to, but its affecting his mobility, which is causing him trouble on defense and I think its taking a little pop out of his bat too, as he can’t get good drive.

There’s a good reason Bobby cox is going into the HOF and none of the posters on this blog are. Fire this person! This team has no heart. Wah Wah Wah The sky is falling.

CHILL

Bobby will calmly keep the big picture in mind, keep the guys focused, make whatever changes are needed, and get things gong in the right direction. I feel the same sense of panic and gloom and doom as so many others here, but that’s why I watch on TV or in the stands and Bobby’s in the dugout. All will be well. Sooner, rather than later.

Baseball Season is back! Gotta love it. last night had a chance to watch Tom Glavin pitch, Escobar leg out a triple, McCann hit a homer, the bullpen collapse, the Braves score 5 in the ninth … For me it’s all good. Only the second game of the season with plenty of time to get things right. Just be glad the home team is not named the Mets.

The thing that worries me the most right now is defense. Four errors in two games is not good at all.

If Hudson doesn’t commit the error on Sunday night he possibly gets a shut-out. If Tex catches those two balls (both with two outs, I believe), then we’re out of those innings. Granted, the relievers need to still make the pitches but it’s a little different with runners on base. Plus there were a couple plays that I think KJ should have made as well that turned out to be infield hits.

Does anyone know why Pat Corrales is not with the team anymore? He made sure the defense’s fundamentals were sound. I don’t know much about Cadahia, but I think Scrap Iron should be helping with that as well.

I’m not worried about our bullpen; the guys who we are counting on did fine (Resop, Ring, Moylan & Soriano); it was Acosta and Boyer who lost it for us with 4 and 3 runs allowed each.

The other thing is how the batters are managing their at-bats. I’m seeing a lot of first and second swing pitches that are resulting in weak ground outs or fly outs. Escobar seems to be the only one right now that knows how to work a count. They need to make sure that opposing pitchers are not getting out of an inning with 6 or 7 pitches like they have done the last couple games. You can’t expect to beat a Santana or a Peavy letting them off the hook like that; hopefully TP notices this as well and takes care of it.

Not worried yet though, we showed a lot of heart in the comeback last night, almost twice. If they keep that attitude the whole season they will be fine.

It’s amazing how with a rather lacklustre beginning in the first 2 games that some folks are willing to already sell the team down-river. Hmmm…..must be some of you fly-by-night northern transplants :~)…..I’ve been a loyal Braves fan since ‘66 and will remain so through thick and thin.

It’s gonna take some time to get the cob-webs out and start hitting on all cylinders, so I cut ‘em some slack. Heck, I’d rather they start slow and crescendo to a big finish in the last couple of months of the season, something they’ve not been good at in the past. The pitching staff has got its work cut out for themselves, and the relievers and closers showed a definite flatness last night. Give ‘em some time and let’s see what’ll happen. Along about June is when I’ll want to see some real consistency. Six months is a looooong time in politics AND baseball and a whole lot can happen between now and the big finish. I happen to think this team has tons of potential…..it’s just gonna take a little time and a few missteps to get themselves back on track. People can be so impatient this day and time…..gotta have it all NOW! It’s baseball, people, so y’all need to sit back, chill out, break open a brew, and enjoy the long drawn-out process…..

God, it’s good to have baseball back in my life!!!

Should a Pirates fan really be dissing a franchise that has posted winning records on a consistent basis, not to mention consecutive division titles and a World Series championship since 1991?

By the way, we’d like to thank the Bucs for flopping bigtime during those NL title series back in the day. Those NL pennants spurred the Braves on to the great baseball we’ve come to expect here in Atlanta. Ah… When Sid Slid. Lest we forget.

Two very disappointing losses in these last two games. Mental errors have killed us, especially Johnson’s play at second. Francoeur looked like a fool in right field last night. Stuart: I’m with you. These losses have been so painfully similar to so many from last year. But it is extremely early, and I wrote last week about the wacky schedule to start the season (flying back from Fla. for two, to Washington and back to Atlanta), so I’m willing to chalk some of the issues up to that and the weather.

But Bobby’s (over)use of his relievers is killing me — again!

Yes, total shame they lost 2 games, but ya know people, we still have a few more games to ‘recuperate’ from two losses. There has been a more than a few positives to take away - like Huddy and Tommy pitching pretty darn good - Yuni and Chipper hustling like mad — and WOW, Mark Kotsay is one of the most pleasant surprises yet! I mean, covering the field AND getting on base! Think positive peeps - and remember — it’s a marathon not a sprint….

TBS isn’t an Atlanta station anymore, the Braves aren’t owned by anyone affiliated with TBS. Get over it.

Its not why did TBS change, TBS had no real reason to keep carrying braves games. Contrary to what denizens of these blogs think, Friends and Seinfeld reruns sell better nationally than Braves games.

The question is why isn’t there a better regional sports network that carries more braves games, like YES? The answer, nobody knows if its a worthile investment. If its shown there is a demand, it will be provided.

chop chick’s column reminds me of the sports stories I read in my high school newspaper. Anyone can look over the box score and regurgitate some game stats.

A true Braves fan supports their team through thick and thin. The vast majority of the comments I have read are very critical and short sighted. The season is not doomed to failure after only 2 games.

danny, Dakota: I live 1.5 hours from Atlanta in NE Georgia and have DISH so of course I did not see game either. It is totally ridiculous for management to agree to an Atlanta-area only TV broadcast that leaves out the majority of the state. I did manage to catch Pete and Skip on radio just before midnight for the finish of the game. BTW much too early to panic.

Monday’s loss marks only the fourth time in the 18 years Bobby Cox has managed the Braves that they have started a season 0-2. They’ve responded well in the past. Year Final Rec. Final Res. 1991 94-68 L, World Series 1997 101-61 L, NLCS 2003 101-61 L, NLDS

I didn’t get a change to see them on T.V. due to the fact that I ‘am in South Georgia and the we don’t get the so called Peachtree network. Due to the so Peachtree network carrying X number of games, they will lose fans who help make them an everyday topic with
The bullpen did it again, just like last year. Only 2 games into the season, they looked out of whack, they lack clout, but maybe, they can get whatever bugs out of the way and get all together, if not they’ll never live it down. I listen and admitted Skip Caray for years and as far as I ‘am concerned he is among the best, he didn’t talk your ears off like most of them do, they feel they have to talk every minute. We need Skip, back on T.V. and get rid of the two clowns they have now. GOOD LUCK SKIP.

One-run losses are largely the result of poor luck. So there’s no cause for concern. Losing two one-run games is far better - for projecting future performance - than losing two lopsided games.

Of course, those close ones sting a little more.

We know its just two games. The may very well win one hundred of the next one hundred and sixty. But calling Escobar annd Johnson on stupid fielding mistakes isn’t a lack of loyalty; it’s just saying that they need to step up their games. Braves fans aren’t used to their middle infielders being so sloppy.

As to Glavine, I hadn’t seen him pitch during Spring training. I was surprised to see him so out of shape. The guy was always fit at the beginning of a season. I guess he thinks he’ll play himself back into shape. His pitching last night was passable, not outstanding. He gave up more hits than innings pitched. Not a good thing in the long haul. We’ll see, though. Yes, it’s very early.

Well I DID see most of ST games and I think Tommy looked fantastic there and last night. Shaky start, but come on, BIG night for him, a little butterflies are anticipated for the entire team on Opening Day.

Last year if the Braves were even .500 in one run games, they make the playoffs. THis year is starting out the same as last year in terms of losing the close ones. Somehow they just need to come through in the clutch.I’m disappointed more in their sloppy fielding and throwing than anything else. Take away the errors and they win both games. It’s early but these games count just as much as in September, a loss is a loss.

What in the world are we doing signing other teams castoffs. The one that concerns me most is signing a player who could possibly spend the next two years in jail. Is this the kind of player the Braves want representing them ? I don’t have a problem with Gotay as he could possibly be of some help. After watching the bullpen give up 10 runs last night I sure hope our pen is going to improve on that and if they don’t we will be lucky to come in third place.

Chop Chick, Bobby’s (over)use of the bullpen? I would think that 2 innings in game one is acceptable. And for goodness sake it’s the second game of the season, if a much improved bullpen can’t handle 4 innings on the day before an off day then this is going to be a long crappy summer.Give this bunch a chance to get into a groove before starting the Bobby bashing. When Cox is gone you will finally realize just how good he really is.

The Braves are only going to be on approximately 40 games this year. In other words “on a channel” that you normally expect to see them on. Time to get real friendly with a bartender at your watering hole that has satellite feeds.

There has been no write ups about the game last night, scores, anything. Are you guys saying Kelly Johnson got hurt last night? I mentioned above that Prado should be starting at 2nd over Kelly and in fact have been saying that for a year now. Don’t wish harm on anyone but this should be just the opening Prado has been looking for. The Braves will be better for it, no question.

braveswin: I didn’t say Bobby overused the ‘pen, I said he overused the relievers, to the tune of eight guys in seven innings. And it wasn’t because they were all ineffective; it was because he micromanages and warms EVERYBODY up.

Bobby Cox will go down as one of the great ones, and deservedly so. His players would run through a brick wall for him. But managing the bullpen is not one of his strengths. He’d never do it, but I’d love for him to turn those decisions over to Roger for a week and see how that plays out.

By john

April 1, 2008 3:23 PM | Link to this

Roman88, it is because some of us are capable of seeing the problems a lot quicker then you. I’ve watched 6 other MLB teams play their first games and they all looked sharp and played great. The rules are the same for all teams, not just ours. Also, as is the case every year, after 2 weeks, there will be teams that will be double digit games behind that never recover. We look like we are prime for that position if we are not VERY, VERY careful. I mean 7 pitchers, 3 errors, it was absoultely horrible. I am thankful for Cox and his past years, but his days were over a few years ago - as far as I am concerned. Just like he can not seem to pull a pitcher before the damage is done, someone needed to pull Cox 3 years ago. He manages based on the previous generation of managers - baseball has chnaged!

That was a sloppy team last night on defense. The only reason we got back in in the 9th is because Pittsburgh COLLAPSED. Our defense felt like they had been to a spring picnic not training. WHERE ARE YOUR FUNDAMENTALS GENTLEMEN? ESCO was the only hitter that made an impression(same as in spring tr.). Chipper said after the 1st game-‘we got to find ways to win these type of games’. Folks this is the same s!!t from last year. ROGER wuz a nice try BUT we need LEO. He lives here in Atlanta and he could kick some azz in that bulls!!t bullpen. Bobbys too nice too them. DO IT TODAY FRANK! We dont have enough talent in the bullpen to do it own their own. Please! P.s. What the hell is Scott Spezio gonna do for us? Fans outside ATL no longer get to see the Braves play???

I logged onto MLB.COM to see about a package and I enetered my zip code to learn that the Braves are Blacked out across Georgia!

So if you are not local, you need to go find something else to do?

Why are we being hijacked from Braves coverage now?

The PTV games are controlled so nobody but locals can see the game? Isn’t that just the opposite of what Blackout rules are supposed to be?

People in ATL can just go to the game but the rest of the State of Georgia is barred from seeing teh Braves? For what reason is this garbage going on?

Could someone in ATL write or publish some info on the PTV-Braves scam?

Doesn’t this just cause fans to lose interest? If this goes on long, I won’t be able to keep up with the Braves, I live near Savannah and 300 miles one way is too far on a school night. Kids can’t see the Braves any more, what about High School athletes who watched the Braves for years, now they too are being hijacked out of coverage by PeachTree TV, why??

To the fans sitting in Left Center field last night that loudly chanted “Manny Suc#s” - Shame on you. It’s bad enough when our players are heckled on the road, they don’t need to hear it from their own fans at home. This is a young guy with great stuff who had a rough outing. He needs confidence and hearing negativity from his own fans will not help anything in the long run.

As for the Braves, they’ll come around. They’re fielding the best overall team in years and the pitching is deep. You “fans” that are dogging them right now will be the same ones saying “I told you so” in October when the Braves are in the NLCS.

Well said about Cox blowing his bullpen chop chic. I totally agree. Why not let a reliever go 2 innings? Why not let a reliever at least go one more batter to finish the inning when theres 2 outs and NO men on base? Even if he did just give up a homerun like Acosta last night. Sorry bobbymahlon, I didn’t really mean to offend. I think I’m just sick of all of the whiners on this board. Mostly I am sick of the fair-weathered fans, and I truly wish they would start supporting another team. I’m one of those people who stays until the game is OVER. I don’t care if we’re down 20-0 in the bottom of the 9th; the convenience of less traffic is less important than watching my team battle it out. I also watch every single game that I can. I hate the Mets. I hate Johan Santana, that midget who will never bring them a pennant. I think David Wright needs about ten more seasons like last year before you can start comparing him to Chipper Jones. I hate the Phillies, and I hate their classless fans even more. I may criticize some of the Braves’ moves, but I will always support them, unlike some of the pansies who say they will ‘never watch them again,’ because a relief pitcher wasn’t pulled at the right time or some other idiotic reason. Basically, I’m just sick and tired of the whining fans of the Braves. Get behind your team, go to as many games as possible, be as vocal as possible at the game, and stay until the end.

And give chance of verificating themselves to player who couldn’t get any chance like Phillip Stockman and Daniel Smith and Michael Nix and Brandon Jones. Do compare these players with players unfairy got chance. Now President and GM and Manager are ignoring farm systems and continuously making contract with other players. Best news I’ve read is that Skip Caray is cutting back (too bad I couldn’t comment on that at the related story, but the AJC’s slow and often absent comment areas leave much to be desired). Loved that blowhard until he took over the WSB call-in show in the 90s and was inordinately rude to every caller. Now if we could just send Chip back to Chicago and get Don Sutton back, I could listen to Braves games again.

Boy, is this football country, or what? Yes, if the Bulldogs were 0-2, okay, then the season would be over already. But this is baseball! We’ve got 160 games left. We lost the first two - big deal! Get over it. It is not time to dismantle the bullpen, bench any of the starters, replace the pitching coach or fire the manager. Even if we were 2-0, it wouldn’t matter - we’d still have a long way to go. I know you’re used to having everything you want the instant you want it, but this ain’t microwave popcorn, people. It’s a 6-month major league baseball season. Sit back, relax, enjoy it - and chill out, for Pete’s sake! Oh, and Will - it’s called punctuation. Look into it.

Hey Bravesfan 79, I’ll tell you why TBS gave the Braves the boot. It’s because since Ted sold out to Time Warner, the stuffed suits who now pull the strings there are a bunch of Mets and Yankee fans sitting around a boardroom in New York, and they personally can’t stand the Braves, Atlanta or the south. So they show endless reruns of Friends and Sex in the City instead, to appease their fat, ugly wives. Meanwhile, The “Superstation” in Chicago, WGN, who stole Ted’s idea, continues to broadcast Cubs games coast to coast, quite successfully, thank you very much. I feel sorry for the longtime Braves fans in Boise, Idaho who used to watch the Braves on TBS, who now have to either watch the Cubs or not see any baseball at all. Which is redundant.
