Farm Report: Boyer back in ‘08?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Here we go. Giving the “Give The Blog Back To The Fans And Get The Fans Blogging” idea its first real test run with a Farm Report from Our Man In Richmond, rich brave, who says this about what he saw last season from perennial pro pitching prospect Blaine Boyer: “[He] did not respond well to his demotion in ‘07. He gave every appearance of an individual disheartened by his results in Atlanta. And his subsequent pitching at the ‘Diamond’ did nothing to dispell that sense. He’s still on the roster for ‘08, but I think he wants out of the Atlanta organization, and the Braves usually accommodate those players who come to that position.”
And fellow fan Josh H. wanted to know…
“Speaking of another guy, how did Joey Devine handle his constant shuffling between the bigs and AAA last year? From what I saw in the stats, he seems dominant at the AAA level.”
… followed by this regarding Boyer:
“I hope Boyer comes out and pitches his heart out in the spring and earns a spot. If not, I really hope he isn’t handed one as we have so many young guys aching for a chance.”
Chop Away! Thoughts on whether these young shuttlers will finally stick in the bigs come 2008? And if so, will it be with Atlanta or another club? Why CAN’T they stay in the relief rotation? What gives? If you’ve got Farm Report questions, we’ll see if the Man In The Stands, rich brave, has any answers based on what he’s seen at the AAA games. Fire away.
