I say we don’t try to find him and just stop payment on his check. He might turn up or he might not, but when he does I do not want him to have a job.

Let Aybar go as Braves don’t need a guy who doesn’t want to be here. In the end, the Braves traded Betemit for absolutely NOTHING. I would rather have the potential in a struggling Betemit than an overpaid pitcher in Baez and a career utility player who doesn’t show up for work in Aybar. JS really messed this one up good.

Whether he’s cut, traded or whatever, something’s really wrong here. If it’s some kind of personal issue and Aybar needs help, I personally hope the team directs him to the place where he can access those resources.

But when it comes to baseball and how this could become a serious distraction for a team that isn’t used to this sort of thing (and no team needs that headache), the Braves need to address this issue immediately and not let it fester. Resolve it one way or the other. Now.

I think I saw him looking for work on Roswell Road.

Trade him to the Cubs for whatever they can get. Let Lou deal with him and his problems whatever it is.

Sounds to me like hes mad that hes not a starter. Tough. Trade him, hes no good to a team like ours. Not fair to the players who show up, work hard and love the game. Dump the bum.

I’m not worried too much. If there’s one thing about Bobby and J.S., they have a very low tolerance for this kind of thing.

The Braves must be the most naive Team in the majors. If a team lets a player go out on free agency, or is willingly trading a player, the red lights should be going off. No, not with the braves, they’ve got to have him. It doesn’t surprise me either when a new player from another team is having arm problems. Hello!, will somebody in the front office understand that nobody in their right mind let’s good pitching go.

Hopefully, Aybar will get some help. You hate to see a player struggle with substance abuse problems. The team, however, needs to wish him the best and move right along with its job — playing ball.

Yeah we sure did jack this one up. I really liked Wilson too. Hopefully this young man will get the help he needs.

Choppy: Agreed. The team shouldn’t lose its humanity; not so much a case of cut and run but cut him (compassionately, with help) and get on with it. These things happen. No big deal.

I wish Aybar all the best. Same goes for my Braves.

Braveslady: Your post is full of speculation based on the little information we know. Tell me how you can deduce Aybar is “mad” that he’s not starting. Let’s jump to conclusions shall we.

This is the perfect opportunity for the holier-than-thou sect. So what are you all waiting for? Show us all how chaste you are while you throw air kisses at the crucifix.

Hopefully he will get it worked out and who knows - he may end up really helping this team down the stretch.

I hope the guys get behind him and give him some support…a good chance here for the world to see the kind of people we have in this organization, and now we know why a lot of things happened…I hope he gets it back together.

As a recovering alcoholic with almost 40 years sobriety, I feel that Willy should be given a chance to do something about his problem. Don’t believe that he should receive any special deals, etc., but if he doesn’t take advantage of this chance to turn his life around, then we have to use these resources to help others who are at a point in their lives that they are ready to accept the help. I would wish him all the success in trying to get rid of this awful demon, and caution him that sometimes we only live long enough to take advantage of the help offered one time. Have seen many good people recover, have seen many good people who did not, have seen some who did not even try. Sobriety is something that can only be kept by giving it away…..be willing to share with others…God Bless you Willy, an unmet friend…..

The Braves and MLB needs to help Aybar. He’s just a kid and you don’t kick your kids out when they do something wrong. Everyone needs to look in the mirror and he who is without sin (perfect) throw the first stone. No matter if he ever plays again…he is worth saving, I pray he get his help!!!!!!

If it was C jones or A jones would you be so quick to cut him loose? He is a Brave and Braves need to get him help.

Help the man out. Who knows why he’s having problems, that’s not our decision to make. If the Braves offer him whatever help they can give, and he still doesn’t respond, then the Braves would be wise to let him go.

I am as big of a Braves fan as all of you. And it angers me that he could possibly be a distraction. But can we look at the big picture here? A 24 year old kid has ON HIS OWN Checked into a substance abuse rehab center. God forbid you or any of your loved ones should have to suffer a dependance on any kind of substance. I would hope that they get the help they need, beat their problem, and have a job when they get out. The Braves are surviving without him so far. If he is able to be reabilitated, then I say let it happen. Good luck Willy. In life, and then later down the road in baseball.

MetsLand fan — Any Braves fan with a heart would agree that what’s most important is for Aybar to get help for his problems and then work to return to the team. I know I hope that happens and that he gets healthy — as you say, “in life and then later down the road in baseball.” And as he does this, let’s hope the Braves organization continues operating the baseball club in a business-as-usual way so that they’re not distracted from what they need to do while Aybar’s not similarly distracted from the much more important (and, frankly, difficult) work he’ll need to begin.

Yes, Aybar should get help from the Braves, We should also cut him and send him down to the minors after rehab. He never wanted to play for the Braves anyway. JS got suckered in that deal. even if Betimit is not hitting well in LA, he is at least there. Baez did not want to play either, the Dodgers knew who they were dealing away and JS got taken.
