Lou-sin’ it
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
So. Is THIS the series where the Sweet Lou baseball fans know and love comes back to life, throwing bases and foaming at the mouth over ball-and-strike calls? It’s been chilly here in town the past week but it could get super-hot at the Ted super-fast if just one more thing goes squirrelly for the 5-8 NL Central cellar-dwelling Cubs.
Bobby Cox in the home dugout. Piniella on the visitors’ side.
Umpires beware.

It will be great to see the Cubs, especially with all the dough they spent in the off-season and coming in with a 5-8 record. Thanks, Bruce

I’d normally say we’re catching a break with Alfonso Soriano being out due to an injury and the way he usually hits our pitchers, but his batting stats rival those of Ryan Langerhans so far.

Is Zambrano going to being pitching either of the games? I know he has been bad but he is due for a good game.

Sweet Lou and Bobby Cox - anyone care to make odds on who will be the first tossed out of the game.

Zambrano should get plunked for the playoff incident a couple of years ago against Chipper.

I’ll take those odds, Lee. My money’s on Bobby, even though I’d love to see Sweet Lou go craaaaazy here in Hotlanta.

My money is on Cox also. I saw where Lou went off on the sports media on ESPN the other day. Maybe he is cooled off for a while.

It will be nice to see ex-Brave Mark DeRosa again. He’s an all around good guy. All that $$$ the Cubs spent in the offseason will amount to a 4th place finish in the NL Central. Good to see Chipper & Kelly Johnson’s bats heating up. I’m still scratching my head on Langerhans, Thor, & C. Wilson. now playing— Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode.

Great song, Yars. I’m still waiting for that explanation of why the Cubs never spend real $$$ on quality pitching.

I’d say Lou’s a whole lot more likely to lose it this series than Bobby. Things have been going pretty well for the Braves and pretty badly for the Cubs. And, as mentioned earlier, Lou’s alreadly starting to lose it a little. He sort of snapped at a reporter after yesterday’s game. Now, he didn’t go stark raving mad or anything (he didn’t say anything that couldn’t be reprinted on this blog), but the pressure meter is rising and if too much more goes wrong, he just might blow his top.

My friend Cubs Chick called me a dirty name today after she saw the AJC Braves site with this blog front and center. Now THAT wasn’t nice.

A call goes against Atlanta, BC is tossed, then the call is reversed, Pinella goes berserk, a two for one :)

It’s also good to see hometown boy Matt Murton in town again. The Cubs just need to stop waiting on Pryor and Wood to get healthy. They’d be lucky to get one healthy and are crazy to think they’d get both.
