Used to go to minor league games when the Macon Braves were in Macon, Georgia and really had a great time! Spend 3 or 4 bucks on a ticket, 3 or 4 bucks on food and drink, and saw some young guys out there busting their butts to make the big leauges. Took out a loan later and went to see the Big Braves play, of course I ran out of money before I could buy something to eat, so all I could do was sit there wandering why I had come all this way to see players (some of them) giving 65 or 70 percent) earning millions of dollars to do something that most of us would love to do for the sake of playing the game. Don’t get me wrong! I love the game! I sure don’t like the way the game’s played these days. Inflated salaries have taken the game away from the true fan who once sat in the stands and dreamed of meeting their favorite player in person, and given it to the few who are rich enough to buy anything they want, or the brave souls who keep scraping up enough money to make a game with the hope that maybe one day baseball will become the American dream again…..Grandaddy,did you really go to a baseball game in a stadium ? Wow!!!!!!

Chipdip Boy do you have an appropriate nom de plume if you think Furcal, Betemit and especially Mazzone would make any difference… Have you seen what Roachy is doing so far — God Love him… And we’ve not missed a beat putting Kelly in for Marcus - offense or defense! I love Marcus, but lovin’ Kelly even more now!!

Folks, let’s not forget that Friday night the Braves faced D-Train. And HE can bring it. Just wasn’t our game to win. If tonight’s much-ballyhooed maelstrom manages to miss The Ted, let’s hope we’ll come out on the plus side of things.

But Frenchy shouldn’t be dropping fly balls and fouls. Not at this stage in his career. I’m not for booing the home guys but seeing stuff like that is absolutely frustrating. In right field, it’s his job to make sure those plays result in outs. Defense counts, too.

Man how quick some people give up. The season just started, there will be changes and players will pick it up or be gone. Bobby and JS will not make the same mistakes this year they did last year. The Braves still need a couple weak spots filled and JS is working on it. Have Faith! Go Braves….

The baseball season is the only professional sport season that truely defines its champions. The season is so long, injuries play such a key role. This is a team that is built differently than recent years past and we are playing at a very high level without production from nearly 1/2 of the offense. The pitching has returned (w/ the exception of Redman right now) to being the rock solid foundation of the team. That will not change over the course of the season barring injury. As soon as the offense gets in gear (and the weather warms up…) we will see a team that we all have been waiting for. I for one am really encouraged so far.

Now if we could get Bobby to remember that the small ball/manufacturing runs way of thinking got the White Sox THEIR World Series trophy, we’d be even better off. Personally, I’m not a fan of this ‘wait for the three-run homer’ American League style of play that NL managers and players have fallen in love with. You cannot win without pitching. See: The Yankees, Cubs and, yes, Braves of the past few seasons.

Can a Cubs fan out there seriously explain to me why that club will spend mega-$$$ on a big bat like Soriano while continuing to patch together a starting rotation? Is there some rule on the northside of Chicago against spending free agent cash on a big name arm? I’m not being snarky here; I’m really curious because I never understand this, year in and year out, when watching the Cubs’ offseason moves.

bclontz I miss those macon braves too. If Macon had a decent mayor, the Braves would still be in macon. Now we’ve got some independent team. (Macon Music) that name just speaks for itself. Andrew Jones, chipper, furcal, smoltz, justice, etc. played in macon. Man, I miss those days.

Can someone honestly tell me what Terry Pendletons job is ? Every year we go through this same thing! The hitting is so streaky, and while I understand that we can’t get a hit all the time, we might get one by accident once in awhile. I have never seen a team swing at pitches like some of the braves do, is this a lack of disipline, practice or what ? I think we need to take that money we spend on a hitting coach and buy glasses for Jones and company. I was totally embarrassed by the effort (or lack of it) in Washington last night. Andruw, please take off that mask or cover your whole face….right now you’re pathetic….and something is poisioning the team, and while I can’t blame it solely on you, you could certainly help the team by doing what you do best, playing ball….The way you’re playing now there won’t be any reason to argue over a contract next year, they’ll put Pendleton in centerfield for his mighty bat….Still a Braves fan, but don’t like some of you guys much right now!!!!!

Anyone wanting to do research ? Look up these figures for the past five years! Which team leads the league in the following catagories! Bases Loaded with no outs, not scoring a run on offense! Two outs, nobody on, giving up runs on defense! Strikeouts on pitches totally out of the strike zone! Runners on third base, no outs, not scoring on offense! Josh! Thanks for your feed back! Appreciate it my friend.
