Field Guide for Tech, UGA fans

I’m asking: What would Thanksgiving be without the annual Field Guide to Tech fans and Georgia fans to make each side fling a gravy boat in anger? Less fun, I’d submit, and not nearly as messy. Napkins at the ready, here we go:

• Tech fans believe Jonathan Dwyer will be their version of drought-breaker Theron Sapp. Georgia fans feel like saps for making hotel reservations in Miami.

• Georgia fans giggle over Tech’s conference. Tech fans giggle over Georgia’s curriculum.

• Tech fans wonder where Mark Richt gets his tan. Georgia fans wonder where Paul Johnson gets his gall.

• Georgia fans screamed when Knowshon Moreno jumped over that Chippewa. Tech fans screamed when they heard Florida had scored again. (And again … and again …)

• Tech fans will welcome Urban Meyer’s volleyball-playing daughter to their campus. Georgia fans figure she’ll fit right in.

• Georgia fans built a Web site imploring Moreno and Matthew Stafford to stay. Tech fans are hacking into it as we speak.

• Tech fans are wild about Johnson’s Perfect Option. Georgia fans believe the perfect option would be for Willie Martinez to resign.

• Georgia fans consider Tech’s calculus requirement a bunch of hooey. Tech fans contend they need advanced math to keep track of all the Bulldogs who’ve been arrested.

• Tech fans think it’s hilarious that Georgia gets flagged for so many penalties. Georgia fans think it’s criminal that Rogers Redding, the SEC’s head of officiating, is a Tech grad.

• The Georgia fan’s lowest moment of the season: “Timeout, Florida.” The Tech fan’s lowest moment of the season: Gardner-Webb.

• Tech fans know their A-backs usually go in motion. Georgia fans wonder where their team’s “A” game went.

• Georgia fans were crushed when their latest Blackout flopped. Tech fans see color-coordinated crowds as gauche — even when it’s their school doing it.

• Tech fans can be a little snooty. Georgia fans can be a little obvious.

• Georgia fans always take note of the empty seats in Bobby Dodd Stadium. Tech fans always take note of the empty bottles outside Sanford Stadium.

• Tech fans don’t mind that Johnson’s offense makes him old-school. Georgia fans worry that Richt’s sunglasses make him look too cool.

• Georgia fans don’t know what to do with all the preseason magazines they bought that proclaimed the Bulldogs No. 1. Tech fans would be glad to offer a suggestion.

• Tech fans appreciated Michael Johnson leading cheers via the Bobby Dodd message board. Georgia fans did not appreciate Alabama affixing 31 first-half points to the Sanford scoreboard.

• Georgia fans will arrive early Saturday for the dedication of Vince Dooley’s statue. Tech fan Taz Anderson is ready to erect a downtown tower honoring Dan Radakovich, the man who canned Chan Gailey.

• Item of clothing no Tech fan would ever wear: A Reggie Ball jersey. Item of clothing no Georgia fan would ever wear: Jean shorts.

• Georgia fans are mad at some AJC guy named Mark Bradley for touting the Bulldogs too highly. Tech fans pretty much stay mad at yours truly, whom they long ago renamed “Bark Madly.” (FYI, Mr. Madly still thinks the Bulldogs will win. If you’re a Georgia fan, you should be very afraid.)

I’m as big a Tech fan as there is but I only have one piece of Tech gear on my car.

Even the most casual UGA observer has AT LEAST 3 stickers/plates on their vehicle(s)….err, I should say truck(s).

Mark- you are really prety good most of the time. i detect that you and the other writers at the AJC and really on the Paul Johnson bandwagon and we welcome you. However as Tech fan i have to really be careful. This is just looking too good. Even the most negative of the Tech fans seems to be getting excited. The future is bright for the Jackets. Get yourself totally on the bandwagon before it pulls out of town.

Tech fans - come and talk when you actually beat UGA. Until that happens, you’re nothing but a whipping boy! Our losses were to two of the top teams in the nation with one loss between them. Your three losses were to teams with 14 combined losses in a conference that wishes it could hang with the SEC. We’ll give you a pat on the back for beating Mississippi State, but you followed that up by almost losing to Gardner-Webb a few weeks later. A Gardner-Webb team that is 5-6 in I-AA.

How do you measure intelligence? IQ score, SAT’s, GPA’s, etc. Let me say that I am a Tech Man. I work for IR as a Procurement Specialists, aka - Buyer. I work with engineers, CEO’s, tech specialists, operators, etc. What I’ve found is engineers are generally more technically sound, but the Managers are making more money and they aren’t engineers.

To hell with the academics and the academic jokes. Tech is reeling, and UGA knows it. Seven straight and a 20+ advantage is all that needs to be said. It’s time for the Tech people to shut up and show up. There is no reason why Tech should continue losing to UGA. Calculus has nothing to do with Football.

Rednecks, Nerds, Idiots, Trailer Trash, Elitist, etc. UGA is winning on the field, and that is all that matters. Wake up Tech and support the team like Dawg Nation, and you’ll be surprised at the outcome.

Contrary to the AJC’s article, the REAL key matchup is UGA’s WR’s (and Stafford) vs. Tech’s weak DB’s!

By Turbot

November 26, 2008 6:13 PM | Link to this

Tech would have to run to beat the Bulldogs. It’s about quick opener inside, off tackle, and then, when it’s second and short, the bomb. Georgia is a sitting duck for that game plan. They are very much like a bulldog, sorry.

But dont worry. Tech’s coach is only a political master, not a football boy.

YOu can only win football games if you grew up in the mud, played smear the queer fifteen thousand times…played burn out, (close quarters pass assaults), eighty seven thousand times, and played three man pretend football, where you pretend there’s a defense, and you invent all these hike-the-ball-to-the-Q and then pass the ball back and forth fooling everyone as the third guy goes long for the bomb….or played ten thousand hours of three-on-three football, where there IS a defense, and you have a passing attack that the defense KNOWS is coming, and then you have to count down from one thousand four one thousand three one thousand two one thousand one THROW!

Football is not football, not really, it’s being a kid, and loving life, and knowing that the feeling you have is so good, that you can do anything.

Georgia by seventeen, but only because the coach of tech is a pretender. (but he can get donations)(

I will give you that one. You did pull that Gardner Webb game out. that was a signature win.

Coastal Carolina and Charleston Southern and a few others also pulled it out against Gardner Webb. They one by a few more points and didn’t have to block a tying field goal in the waning seconds.

But, you’re right I guess, a win’s a win.

how do you think georgia would fare against Georgia Southern with a 4th string 250 pound QB that runs a 4.8 if they ran the option. It would have been 24-21….people Garner Webb is not a way to measure our talent, because with Josh Nesbitt(healthy) we have rushed for hundreds upon hundreds of yards. With out him, or Jaybo we wouldnt be successfull at all….so please drop Garner Webb…that wasnt the same GT team with Booker in. We ran over teams we werent supposed to beat(miami and FSU) and we lost to teams we were supposed to beat(UVA, VT) but this is now and the past does not matter. This is an 8-3 teams and 9-2 going heads up and both teams could win this game…its truly even.

Guys, as a semi-intelligent dawg, I for one, congratulate Tech on a great season. You performed much better than expected, and sad to say, we just have looked horrible. Most of us are just befuddled about our season. I know a win is a win, and both of us have looked bad winning at times, but hey, we’ll take it. I’m not really one of the obnoxious dawgs, although I will challenge some of your comments. You guys look really good this year. We know it’s comin………..just don’t know when. This should be one helluva game………..could be a blowout either way…………could be a one point game also. We should still be proud of both of our teams. Ya know, we both have fans who didn’t attend either school………..fans who are not millionaires or homeless………..fans who are not nerds or trailor trash. Geez….some of the crap that is spewed on these blogs is just ridiculous. I’m not saying to pull a Rodney King and “let’s just all get along”, but dam, the childish insults on here just make some bloggers sound like a bunch of idiots. Make your point….make it about football……….and leave these stupid comments about someone’s lifestyle(who, by the way, neither know ANYTHING about)out of the conversation.

Any professional people on here have Tech and GA friends and you know good and well you wouldn’t say some of the crap on here to their face.

I dog my Tech friends all the time, and they give it right back………..but it get’s just down right stupid on here.

Now, with that said, I still hope to make it number 8, but I’m not going to have a horrible weekend if it’s not.

May the best team win. GO DAWGS!!

Hey darthdad, Before you go disrespecting the Tech DB’s you might want to check your stats. Morgan Burnet is tied for 2nd in interceptions with 6 (lead is 7). He is a true sophmore. Tech’s Passing D is ranked #21 in the country…#19 in total D. Interesting, the uga Passing O is #19 as well.

On the contrary Tech is #4 in Rushing Offense(the highest among BCS schools) and the Georgia D is #15 (13th among BCS schools). Tech O Avg 270 yds/gm rush uga D avg 110 yds/gm

Say what you want about the ACC, the SEC has not proven to be as strong as billed. The SEC has two great teams, one good team, seveal mediocre and several celler dwellers.

The ACC has literally beat each other to a pulp…betting in the ACC this year would be grounds for insanity.

Even lowly Duke beat a perceived rising star in Nashville (pardon the pun).

I think this shapes up to be a very even game. uga doubtless has better athletes, but that will even out over the next few years.

Tech has the coaching advantage. Perhaps they don’t win this year. I would go ahead and give 3 points and take the Jackets next year.

Prediction: If Tech has zero turnovers Saturday, Tech wins outright this year.

  • How can someone talk smack when their a*’s have been owned for the past 7 years?

  • Why if Georgia is 9-2 their season sucks BUT, a 7 win Tech team is fantastic.

Man, some of you guys take this too seriously. Mark’s just having a little fun, although some of what he said is true. Both teams are good and I expect a great game. For the first time in years GT football has brought excitement back and it will continue. CPJ is a great coach and will conitune to bring talented players into the program. The rivalry is back. You’re in denial if you don’t see that. Can’t wait until Saturday. At the end, we’ll see who has the better team. GO JACKETS!!!!!!! Ramble on.

Paul Johnson separates family matters from the business of winning football games. Coach Mark Richt’s wife pours water into cups and serves as “waterboy” for UGA as though they were playing in an 8 year old’s soccer league and not the SEC.

Oh yeah, GT? Mark never played smear the queer more than one or two times in his whole life I can just tell. He shouldn’t be allowed to write about football. He should stick to Hooter’s Badmitton with the little birdies, (tweet tweet)

I am Thankful to my God, for my family and friends, and for my YELLOW JACKETS. I am Thankful that I have a sense of humor and like Mark Bradley. Dawg fans want to start a fight if anyone says anything; even in jest about their football team. Bunch of trailer park thugs. Most Tech fans have a college education. Most dawg fans have only been on a college campus during a football game. A Tech graduate might go to work for Nasa or elsewhere requiring a “Higher Education”. A UGA grad hopes he can find a job to pay off all those under-age drinking fines.

I love to HATE UGAG

I’ve already done what most Tech fans would suggest for my #1 Bulldogs magazines. As for Saturday, it would seem by this blog that the loudest most obnoxious bunch is from North Ave. I’ve only got one thing to say about it… Put up or shut up! Go Dawgs! eight straight in 2008!

Last game in Athens, I, as a UGA alum helped several VERY sick Tech students to the Athens Police four-wheelers even before the game for dangerous intoxication. It seems that the new Pres. Michael Adams’ tailgating rules encouraging families to attend -undisturbed by heavy drining-had not gotten to the few Tech fans attending. They were very visible! Things have changed drastically at UGA; however, you have to be informed accordingly. Please wait till you return to Cabbagetown before you get plastered after the defeat Sat Techies, ok? Your lack of tailgating experience is showing, no matter how much Calculus you pretend you had….

“Tech Fans can be a little snooty” is being very kind Mark. Most Tech Bloggers are down-right arrogant and bitter and would be well-served by a dose of Furman Bisher’s Thanksgiving before slinging so many personal insults. Dogs will win.

UGA fans say “This is our year to win it all”. Tech fans know it’s never true! UGA fans think Knowshow Moreno is a candidate for the Heisman. Tech fans know he isn’t even on the list. UGA fans think that Moreno jumping over the Chippewa player, yes, my friends, the Chippewa player was spectacular. Tech fans can’t wait to see him try to jump over Michael Johnson. LOL. UGA fans wake up in the morning and put in their teeth. Tech fans already have them. UGA fans call the UF game a rivalry. Tech fans remember a 49-10 azz whoopin. UGA fans think they will win n 11/29/08. Tech fans know that GT will prevail. “To Hell With Georgia” Go Jackets!

Mark, This column and the Final 4 fiasco are your signatures. This yr though I thought the column came up a little short so I came up with some as well. I encourage others to do the same.

1-Tech fans know their new coach is good. Georgia fans know if thats the case, he will soon be gone.

2-Georgia fans wonder about their bowl date. Tech fans wonder if they’ll ever get a date.

3-Tech fans are proud of their astronauts. Georgia fans think deep space is a very good place for Tech grads.

4-Georgia fans fill their stadium weekly. Tech fans attend their games weakly.

5-Tech fans laugh at Georgia’s “Blackout”. Georgia fans wonder when Tech’s colors changed from gold to p** yellow.

I could go on but time to head for the turkey.

You go to be kidding me: You should rightly be proud of your and your family’s accomplishments. You need to understand, however, that when it comes to football fans, you are in the overwhelming minority, doctor.

Yes, I am a Christian; however in the spirit of sportmanship and competition, it is OK to HATE UGAG. Not that we actually hate an individual. I love Mark Richt. He is such a fine man. He does not deserve to be bashed by obnoxious idiots if UGA loses a game now and then. Look at his record since he has been on board. WOW! Nobody that ever coached won every game. Not even John Heisman. Enjoy your Thanksgiving, because we are coming to to city of 52 bars within walking distance of the campus to ruin your weekend! And yes, it is true that ALL Tech students must pass two terms of Calculus. Oh, that means hi-tech math; not rough spots on your hands. Those are Calluses; caused by that mop handle you use all day on the job. A UGA education leads to a job; cleaning Denny’s Restaurants and keeping them floors shiny! “I got my learnin’ at UGA while I wuz a playin’ football”. UGA- proud sponsors of Trailer Life magazine.

Hey jacketnation…

You got REAL personal. Every atheist I know is a techster. They feel like they are too smart to believe in anythng other than themselves (a common teckie problem).

UGA fans are poor and live in trailer parks and teckies are rich and live in million dollar homes. However…

For a $10,000 donation you MAY get the honor of purchasing season tickets at UGA.

For $500 minimum you get the honor of keeping your seat at UGA.

For $30 you get 2 tickets, 2 Cokes and 2 hotdogs at tech.

Yep, you techies are so loaded that you are being taken advantage of.

UGA fans will always remind you of Walker, “the fumble” in 99, stadium size and 1980.

techies will “ramble” on and on and on about their small alumni base, florida, calculus, trailer parks, small alumni base, calculus, UGA arrests, small alumni base, calculus, florida, 1990, Reggie Ball, Chan, small alumni base and calculus.

Oh yes, techies will call UGA beer swilling rednecks…However, isn’t it the tech band that plays the Budweiser song??

Go Oregon State.

Go Dawgs

GT girls on the AVG. may not be the HOTT CHIX UGA has. We have many beautiful women at GT. The thing that makes UGA Girls HOTT is the make-up covering the RUG BURNS on their BACKS, BUTTS, ELBOWS, KNEES, and FOREHEADS. The FAKE BLONDE HAIR, and “I am so Drunk” is just ICING on the PUDDING, but with the frequent flier card to the FREE CLINIC is just GOLDEN.

This Techie and all my Tech friends love and believe in God But our God is not football. I would rather donate 10,000 (if I could) to a worthy cause such as spreading the gospel in impoverished nations than using it to bribe my way into season tickets.

Go Jackets!!! We will shut your mouths this weekend; just like Bama and the Gators did. We scored 38 points on the one team that beat Florida.
