This blog has moved! Yes, already!
As of Thursday, Feb. 12, this little blog has relocated to a new home on AJC.com. It’s the same newspaper, the same Web site and the same writer (feel free to groan) — there’s just a new URL.
New features: Bigger type, more graphics, comments that load 10 times faster and a larger and more recent photo that makes me look pretty doggone old. I think you’ll like it (the blog, not the photo). But I am, as we know too well, often wrong.

Take Stafford over Tebow, Dogs over Gators
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Tim Tebow is a great player. Tim Tebow is the Heisman holder. Come Saturday, Tim Tebow will be the second-best quarterback on the field.
Matthew Stafford has become the Matthew Stafford Georgia fans envisioned when he arrived from Dallas. He has stopped throwing the ball to the wrong team, and he has long thrown the prettiest ball in college football. But throwing isn’t everything, and there have been times where we wondered if Stafford the quarterback would measure up to Stafford the arm. We wonder no more.
He was the difference at LSU. Jarrett Lee’s first pass went to Georgia linebacker Darryl Gamble, and after 20 seconds the Tigers were chasing seven points. As hard as they chased, they could never get ahead. Stafford kept his team moving, kept making the throws that finally revealed the Georgia we thought we’d see.
Two Stafford passes, both in the third quarter, that were the finest he has made as a collegian. Both times LSU, desperate to force a turnover, brought a blitz, and both times Stafford stepped into the rush and delivered down the left side. One ball went to A.J. Green - 49 yards and a touchdown. The other went to Aron White, the tight end who’d never caught a pass at Georgia - 48 yards and a vital first down.
“He’s standing in there when everything is flying around him,” Mark Richt said afterward, and never has Stafford stood taller than those 3 1/2 hours in Death Valley. And now, if you’re voting for All-SEC quarterback, who’s the pick? The Heisman holder and living legend, or the guy who leads the conference in yards passing and total offense?
As good as he has become, Stafford still needs a championship of some sort for full validation. All he has to do to win the SEC East is to outplay the most famous player in the land. The belief here is that John Matthew Stafford will. • More coverage: Matthew Stafford page

I love my Dawgs, but he will wear that arm out trying to out score Florida if Willie Martinez stays in that that soft, bend and don’t don’t break defense. They’ll score 50. The way to beat beat them is to Attack them, disrupt what they do, don’t give them time to set up those plays with speed in the open space. If we don’t attack, we lose by 2 TD’s.

Bulldogs win. Stafford 18-25, 275 yards, one int. Gators will have two turnovers, and the score will be 35-17.

JB, If we play man we lose by 4 td’s. The key is bringing 5 and playing the Tampa two zone behind it. You are right that you have to make UF act quicker than they want to, but man is a disaster. Look at UF v. Lsu and see how well man worked out for the tigers. UF wants to see man coverage. They feast on it. Last year we played very little man and I think it turned out ok.

Sounds good Mark.
Keep up the positive attitude, hope your prediction comes true. ESPN has threw us under the bus once again predicting a gator win. Anixous to see ESPN thursday night college football broadcast to see who DR> LOU. and Mark May pick. DR> Lou will pick Dawgs and Mark May will go with Gators. or thats the way i think it will go.
Go Dawgs!!!

bringing 5 hasn’t worked well all year…….Tebow Must force the ball distribution before he’s ready to. They feast on mis direction and little dink passes in the flats with that speed with a couple of lineman pulled out there. We can’t let them set that up. Tebow needs to be running for his life within a split second of getting the ball in his hands. Go DAWGS……..

Granted, he had a great game at LSU - but, who was it that threw 4 INT’s in the two games before the LSU game?
And, Dorsey Hill is correct (and Dorsey, where have you been since Lewis Grizzard passed away). We play a lot of man and we are in BIG trouble!

Stafford may well be the best QB on the field on Saturday, and Green will be the best receiver, but Florida is the best team. Expect Florida to control the ball and keep Stafford and Green on the bench. Richt and Georgia will pay the price for last year’s poor sportsmanship.

If Stafford is such a great quarterback then how come even with a great defense.. a great running back.. AND an incredibly soft schedule last season he still couldn’t win a championship.
Tebow was better last season with less to work with and facing a far far tougher schedule.

LSU is not a good team this year. They barely beat Auburn and Auburn is terrible. Stafford had ONE good game. The 2 games before that he threw 4 picks. I would not say that Stafford has arrived based on 1 game against a “not so good” team.
Plus, UGA defense gave up almost 500 yards to LSU. That is terrible.
Florida will win by 2 TDs.

How did I know some moronic Bama fan would come in here and bring up Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson? You have a decent team this year, but the next time I hear one of you mention that over-rated, blow-hard coah in the same breath as Bear Bryant, I’m going to go Tony Soprano on you. Your LINES are winning games for you. Not that f@ggy qb and your prissy coach (who has losses to UAB and LA Monroe on his resume). Oh, and I think Georgia wins a WAC-style game 42-38. Florida can pout all they want about the celebration last year, but the bottom line is they can’t keep Georgia from scoring at will. Nor can they control the clock with a run game…

College football is not professional football. ON any given saturday….
The past Richt teams were missing something special and yet they could stay in a game till the last quarter.
We have that something special this year, and we should win all the rest of our games. That’s how college football teams evolve in a season; there comes an “AHA!” moment, and the team “gets it”, and they just start winnin’ and grinnin’.
That’s where the dogs are. YOu have to look at the feel of the overall team, and the impression that first comes to your mind when you review their team prognosis, and that’s a win win win. I simply dont see a Georgia Team that can lose any more games as they go week to week getting more pigskin under their skins, more iron in their gridiron, more donner in their blitz’n, more scrapple in their hashmarks…..I know, you get the bit.

Ah, yes… it’s the Mark Bradley I’ve come to know and love. The Mark Bradley who has littered the AJC sports section with copious amounts of Gator hate for roughly twenty years of his underachieving career. I’ve been a Gator fan living in Georgia for all my life and for the first time two weeks ago, Bradley actually had something positive to say about a Gator alum when he wrote the article about Al Horford. At any rate, what I find funny about that is that nothing has changed throughout the years with you Mark. My own father (God rest his soul) read an article you wrote in ‘92 about Steve Spurrier, who you apparently believe is the anti-Christ, and was tempted to write a letter to you expressing his displeasure with your brand of journalistic unobjectivity (not sure that’s a word, but I like it). Sixteen years later, here you are again giving your readers more of the same.
Before I go any further, allow me to say something to the UGA fans who will no doubt respond to my post. I am a Gator fan because my father played football there in the early ’70s and all of my family is either from various portions of Florida or are still living there. My family moved to Georgia the year before I was born in 1980 (sound familiar Dawg fans?). So, Georgia is my home state, thus UGA is, wait for it, my SECOND team behind UF. As I said, I grew up here and I love you all, but Mr. Bradley is like a gnat at an outdoor BBQ just bugging the crap out of me and I finally feel compelled to post because of years on top of years that he has done nothing but cater to the Gator hating masses residing within our state borders (not that I blame you guys for hating UF, but someone working in the media should be more objective).
Back to you Mark… and now for the game itself. You declared UGA the winner of the Cocktail Party on Sunday I’m guessing because of the Dawgs’ ‘stellar’ performance against LSU, which are big words coming from a fan of a team sporting a 3-15 record against UF since 1990. I’m not sure what game you were watching, but the game I watched saw UGA get outgained by an offense that rotates a freshman QB in with an Ivy League transfer (497 total yards to 443). Charles Scott ran all over the Dawgs’ alleged defense to the tune of 144 yards (the same Charles Scott who could only manage 35 yards rushing against Florida). And while UGA certainly was impressive offensively, it still needed two pick-sixes from Darryll Gamble to get to UGA’s final margin of victory. What I’m saying is this, we Gator fans are witnessing Florida’s best all around team output since the BCS National Championship Game when we depantsed THE Ohio State University. The offense has been nothing short of perfect, the defense leads the SEC in scoring, and don’t get me started on our special teams. And we’re motivated for reasons I don’t want to get into because morons like you have driven the Gator Stomp non-story into the ground despite the fact that neither team is talking about it. And there’s the small matter of the SEC East and a possible berth in the BCS Championship. I’m saying that this is potentially one of the best Florida teams I have ever seen take the field. We have found rhythm and we have found continuity. This, of course, does not guarantee victory, but as the wise Spurrier once said; ‘You’re only as good as your last game.’ If that’s the case, then UGA is in trouble. And if you’re hanging your hat on the LSU victory, understand something that the rest of the college football world has realized; LSU, especially on defense, has been exposed as a fraud first by UF and now by UGA. No doubt that Stafford and Moreno will likely carry UGA, but after watching both teams in the past few weeks, I don’t think the Bulldog D can stop or even slow down the Gators (especially with the SEC’s 11th ranked pass defense). So, Mark, continue to to zap the IQ of your readers with your incessant anti-UF drivel. I just can’t wait to hear what you have to say on Monday.

Mark…regardless of who wins I know it will be a great game with two outstanding teams and players and coaches…too bad neither UGA or Fla. or my Texas Longhorns will probably see the BCS title game. Why?? Because the fix is in for Penn State to play USC…these two schools play no conference title games like the SEC and Big 12 and both teams have a bunch of cream puffs left on their schedule. So all Paterno and Carroll have to do is beat a few glorified high schools while sitting back and watching the SEC and Big 12’s finest pick each other off in grueling regular season contests and in the conference title games. Face it Dawg and gator and Tide and Longhorn fans, etc., it’s a real possibility that a SEC or Big 12 champion with one loss could be shut out by the BCS for the aforementioned media annointed USC vs. Penn State…and that would be a shame and a farce!!! Bet on it happening!

chuckmonster….Anger management might be good for you!! Not sure who brought up John Parker Wilson but anyone knows he is a step below Tebow and Stafford. However, that average QB picked apart the UGA defense and did so with a tremendous amount of confidence. So, careful before admitting again your team got dominated by a “f@ggy” qb. Also, say what you want about Saban but he has something Richt would love….A NC!! I have no problem with the fact our lines are winning games for us. You have to win them somehow, right? They are giving our running game great holes to run through and JPW plenty of time to throw the ball to a couple of very good receivers. The front 7 on D is holding teams to 77 yards rushing a game and 2.6 yards per carry. Not too bad for a young team predicted to finish 3rd in the west. I mean no disrespect to you…just trying to keep you from going Tony Sporano on anyone because you dont really believe BAMA is a good team!

Guy’s, Tebow is the best QB of the two, he has all the intangibles that most QB’s lack… Stafford has the great arm, but so does Tebow, he can throw the ball 60 yards downfield on his knee’s … just not as pretty of a spiral as stafford, so don’t let that confuse your judgement… also, remember UF is the only team in the top 10 to have scored more than 3 touchdowns as a margin of victory in all of it’s win’s … so, don’t expect a close game …the only way to beat UF is if they turn the ball over on it’s side of the field, several times, like the Mississippi game … UF beat’s you by scoring touchdowns, not by having a rabbit’s foot in your pocket, and interceptions for touchdowns … like many of UG’s wins…only turn over’s makes this a close game … UF win’s this one 56-19

Hey chuckmonster,
Games are WON on the line. Ask your weak O & D lines about that one. I guess you could say ‘decent’ is a good descriptor of our team this year. Decent enough to whip your a*. Still, UGA is mostly a class act, and I think UGA wins by a field goal.

Note to C. Yanez: It’s time to learn to spell man. Note to Brad: Wow it’s great to know we’re you’re second favorite team because like it was hard to tell after that rant. Glad you finally got it off your chest but suggest you either 1) take your medicine or b) post more often. Don’t let those frustrations build up over decades. Mark is a Kentucky alum but he does write for a paper which sports a pretty big UGA constituency.I find him to be a gifted writer even when I disagree and even when he roughs up the Dawgs (as he did after the Vandy game). Are you surprised that he leans toward the Dawgs and away from the Gators? Is that something unnatural? Would you be shocked to discover that a J’ville or Orlando columnist had a tendency to love the Gators a little more than the Dawgs? Note to Mark: I hope you’re right.I’m not predicting a win. Stafford has stopped throwing INT’s: 3 gaems before LSU: 5 TD, 5 Int.
Tenn. & VandY: 2 Int s each.
Stafford is still prone to make mistakes, if you put some consistent pressure on him.
Tebow has started to get back to last yrs form the last couple of wks. Tebow is the better of the 2 QB’s, he has the Heisman & NC to back it up.

It’s hard to argue that Stafford over Tebow. Tebow to date has been the better QB in college. I think it’s a pretty general consensus that Stafford is the better pro prospect, but that’s another debate for another time. Stafford has finally grown up, it seems, but Tebow grew up a little earlier and has the #’s to back that up. You could argue Stafford has been the best QB in the SEC this season, but that might be more a result of Tebow being asked to do less than he did last year. It’s very hard to compare these guys because Stafford is your prototypical pro-style QB running a pro-style offense and Tebow is more of te new blend of running QB’s in a system that supports that. In the end, I’d rather have Stafford running the Georgia offense and Tebow running the Florida offense, because I think if you flipped their teams, Tebow wouldn’t mesh very well in Georgia’s syatem nor would Stafford mesh very well in Florida’s system. It’s an interesting debate, but I think you have to look at it from the system perspective and the fact that each QB is in a situation that exploits their individual talents. So, in a nutshell, I think Georgia is better off having Stafford over Tebow, but it’s more of the system than really individual talent.

Innocent Bystander,
I sort of aniticipated this argument about Bradley writing for the AJC. You’re right to an extent about him favoring the Dawgs, but he has made a career in journalism out of ripping the UF football program. I guess I’m a little more sensitive to it since I am a Gator fan, but his disdain for all things reptilian causes him to even become downright disrespectful (see any article he has ever written about Spurrier). Sorry for the rant… I do love the Bulldogs 358 out of the 365 days of the year and if they happen to find themselves playing in a certain game in Miami come January 8th, they will be getting the Florida treatment from me. My post was meant to simply express a little dissatisfaction with Bradley, not to disrespect UGA, a team I root for against anyone other than UF, or to insult my fellow statesmen. Didn’t know he is a UK alum… that might explain why he seems especially jacked up for this week’s game, considering our dismantling of the Wildcats. And medicine? Guess it shouldn’t be mixed with coffee, huh? By the way, my take on the game is as bias-free as I can manage… I really do believe that we are going to win. Not a taunt, just an opinion.

It takes a dumb Ga redneck to think Stafford, the loser freshman who ALMOST lost his job to Cox, is a better QB than Tebow. Maybe you should drink some of that GA Bulldog alcohol and get in a car and drive around campus. Stafford finally has a couple of weapons. Without them, he is as big a punk as Dallas’ Brad Johnson. Bradly, I like your column and please comment on my analysis. Folks, first of all I want to say WOOF! WOOF! second Georgia with their outstanding Fullbacks and Running backs will run all over Florida and control the Clock. Florida actually hoping a good out come from their special teams to get an edge. their offense is overrated, yes it is. they have 2 fast guys in addition to Percy Harvin but these guys are not true Running backs, they only produce in space. they cant run through the middle and break tackles, for this reason they need Moody, but Georgia is pretty good against the run of Moody style so they will go back to Demps and Rainy and try to give them the ball in space. However, Georgia’s speed on defense eat up space pretty quickly, Georgia’s defense is build to stop the spread offense, Florida will have some success in the option and running through the sidelines but will not be enough to match up with Georgia’s balanced attack, Georgia will win by 2TDs. I can see Tebow crying on the sidelines Go dawgs

Why do I get the impression that if Mr. Bradley wrote for a Florida newspaper he would consider Mr. Tebow the greatest quarterback on the planet and would not even deign to gaze upon this one Mr. Stafford? With the exception of perhaps Messrs. Bisher and Moore, all AJC columnists seem to let hometown biases creep into their writing.

Cody,
You say 56-19 Gators? I live in Atlanta, please meet me at the place of choosing and let’s place a wager on Florida -37. Any price you want? Name it.
Also, you say TOs are the only reason this game would be close. Well, DUH? Turnovers are often the key to how a game goes. Hell, UGA dominated UT and Vandy but the scores were closer because of turnovers. Turnovers are part of the game. And if turnovers cause UF to lose, that’s the way it goes.
Of course UGA could lose this game. Florida is a good team. But I love how we hear all about Tebow and the O, yet UGA LEADS THE SEC in total offense, and we’ve played a harder schedule in amassing those yards. We’re also ahead in the BCS. So, quite a few people seem to think UGA is the better team.
We’ll see on Saturday. I can’t wait.

And for all the people that say we’re overrated and have been all year… we were rated #1 or near there coming into the season based on how we finished last year and who we had coming back. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out.
Now, once the season started we had a bad game vs. Bama, and a few other so-so games. But, consider we are #6 in the BCS without: All-SEC OT, All SEC DT, All-SEC FB, All-SEC LB, starting OT, starting DE, #3 Safety, etc… I’d say we’re doing pretty good to overcome all that.
I know injuries are part of the game, but one of the main reasons we have looked average at times along the lines of scrimmage is because our best DL and OL haven’t played all year. Of course it will make a difference.

Rational behavior, look elsewhere- you think Stafford (a prototypical NFL qb) won’t be very successful in the NFL but you think Tebow will? What exactly is it that leads you to believe the Tebow will be a star in the NFL? Is it that you believe that he will still be able to be a 2 dimensional threat against the much bigger, stronger, and faster NFL defenses? Or is it that gimmick spread offense that is so readily preparing him for the NFL??

Mathew Stafford has a great arm and he can zip it. I have seen some of his throws and am very impressed and he is going to be successful in NFL.
While Tebow has good arm as well, Tebow is a different kind of quarterback. He has good arm and only once he has zipped it like stafford (Game against Arkansas)
Stafford does enjoy throwing long balls and here’s the kicker - While he zips it and places it well, his receivers may not match his calibre.
I am positive Stafford will burn Florida corners once during the weekend game. It will not be like last year when he burned the corners in and out. Also, he will be intercepted at least twice: reason being Moreno will be stopped and GA will go for the passing game.
Having said, both Tebow and Stafford will see action in NFL.
Expect to see Tebow, Brantley and Newton in the game. What UGA may know is how to defend Newton.

While I enjoy reading all the arguing going on in here I feel I must bring this to everyone’s attention. Comparing Stafford and Tebow is like comparing apples and oranges.
These 2 QBs play their position completely different. Tebow has the ability to run and throw (using his legs to setup his arm) while Stafford really just relies on his arm. (sometimes you see him take off but I would not consider him a “dual threat”. Even so, he uses his arm to setup his 2-3 running plays.
They are both, imo, great qbs and I’m expecting both of them to show up big on Saturday. Hopefully Stafford and the dawgs will prevail but I’m expecting a great game.

To all gator fans, i will say this, if you think Florida will be able to control Moreno I will say it is a wishful thinking at best. only South Carolina had a little success and still Moreno rushed for 80 yds and 1TD. and by the way Florida, South Carolina’s defense is pretty damn good, better than yours but their offense is pretty mediocre, and Georgia then had an experimental green OL with no help at full back. However on Saturday, you will be introduced to real smash mouth football maybe it will bring you from the cult that you are still living in. Go dawgs

The key to beating Florida is going out and hitting them in the mouth….Florida isn’t as tough as ESPN, Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson made them out to be….keep pressure on Tebow by knocking him to the turf…..intercept that stupid jump pass play….and keep a soft zone since Florida doesn’t successfully go deep after 12 yards…..DAWGS will win….

Both QB’s are in the top 5 in college. Tebow is a great leader and can do many things. Stafford leasdership has exploded the past couple games. His arm is stronger and he can sit in the pocket and pick you apart.
Tebow is awesome for College football because here he can run and throw. However, in the next level and there is no doubt he will be there, he would not be able to run much and his arm strength is suspect. He will be playing a different position, but who cares he will be in the NFL.
Stafford is perfect for the NFL and has a chance to be a Payton Manning. Of course you have to prove yourself first, but he has all the tools. Stafford is a great College QB as well, don’t get me wrong. He will have an exceptional game Saturday and that will open it up for Moreno.

So, Bradley… What exactly is the debate here? Are you asking who is the better pro prospect or are you asking who the best college quarterback is?
In the context of the NFL, I would have to give the nod to Stafford because he embodies more of the prototypical pro-style quarterback that scouts lust for. He has a strong arm and runs Richt’s pro-style offense very efficiently. Even I as a Gator fan have to admit that.
Tebow, on the other hand, is the better college quarterback. In fact, there isn’t even much of a comparison. You need only look at the season he had a year ago to find your answer to that question. Stafford may be a better pocket passer, but Tebow improvises better and can create plays when all else fails. And Tebow can deliver the ball from the pocket (just ask Percy Harvin). Moreover, Tebow is a better overall athlete than Stafford and a better competitor. Tebow’s numbers have slacked off a bit this season, but you can attribute that to the fact that UF has a different identity on offense this year that doesn’t require Tebow to go out and win every game for us. That doesn’t diminish his role in the offense because I’m not sure who could run Meyer’s spread attack better than Tebow, but there are now more guys who are taking responsibility on that side of the ball than there was all last season.
To close out that topic, Stafford is likely better equipped to start an NFL career than Tebow (I believe that Tebow probably needs to revisit throwing mechanics before playing football professionally, but that’s just one man’s opinion), but while Tebow put together a remarkable season last year, Stafford’s completion percentage hovered somewhere around 55 percent, which, for those of you who don’t know, is below average. Stafford may be the next John Elway (that’s who he most closely reminds me of) on the pro level, but Tebow is the best college quarterback. And for those of you who will say that my argument is contradictory, I assure it is not. There have been several quarterbacks who have flourished in college, but couldn’t carry that success with them into the NFL (i.e. our very own Danny Wuerffel, Eric Crouch, Chris Weinke, etc.). For example, Wuerffel was a better college QB than Peyton Manning. Don’t believe me? Wuerffel and co. won 4 SEC titles, 1 national title, and a Heisman Trophy. Manning won an SEC title (one year after Wuerffel’s departure)and an O’Brien award. In the NFL, however, let’s just say that Manning is still playing (and has a Super Bowl title to his credit) and Wuerffel is running a Christian ministry. You do the math.

Tebow has not played well against UGA. He had a couple of turnovers against us his freshman year and he was not even the starter. he lost to us last year. UGA is to him what FLA was to Payton Manning. We will beat him again. People talk about the revenge factor like UGA will get scared and lay down because someone says FLA is mad and upset about last year. We knew what we were doing then and don’t give a hoot about it now. WE ARE THE GEORGIA BULLDOGS. If you say it, say it like you got a pair thats swinging like bulldogs every time he takes a step. HAHAHAHAHA. We play on Saturday so all the I think this or that team will win means nothing. The SEC is not like the BCS. The champion of the conference is actually determined on the field and not by the polls of popular opinion.

What that real good man, that really fine, very religious man, Richt, needs to do Saturday is get all his assistant coaches, the cheerleaders and as a reward, only the players who don’t have a police record (that’s at least half the team) and lead the whole shebang out for a real good celebration in front of the Gator bench. Brad, I hope the Gators are reading as much into the 497 yds given up as you are. I’m the first to admit the defense was sub-par against LSU…but 20% of that yardage was given up after UGA went up 52-31 with 3 minutes left…including a meaningless razzle-dazzle play at the end which netted almost 40 yds. Don’t forget Ellerbe wasn’t in the rotation and he will be back for the UF game. In any case, you really can’t compare the games since one was at Gainsville and the other was in Baton Rouge.

JB, sorry man, but blitzing isn’t the magic wand of college football. We are going to, just like we do in every game, but only when the down and distance is right. You blitz this Uf offense too much and all you will have is a your arms around a grinning empty handed Tebow, and our Corners chasing the ball down the field. You don’t disrupt short passes by blitzing, they throw short passes to negate a blitz. It’s assignment and tackling. You assume that we time that perfectly and never get touched because Tebow is tossing those short passes, or pitch outs, from the shotgun. Takes him what, 1.5 seconds to get that off. And now we have an isolated defended with no support against sprinters. Math, not magic.

As for the ESPN picks, I’m not quite sure why anyone cares what ESPN thinks and which talking head picks the Dawgs (or Gators). I believe Coach Lou and Mr. May BOTH picked LSU last week in that “Red and Black Mardi Gras” and we saw what happened there…
This week? I like the Dawgs like I did last week; however last week I thought it would be the fight of their lives. It wasn’t. Still, I think this one will be…
Dawgs in a tight struggle. I love this game. They write books about this one, it has it’s own ambience—and even it’s own nickname (yes, it still does not thanks to you, el Presidente’ Adams!). Heck it even has it’s own hall of fame. Our dear, late Lewis Grizzard once wrote a special article for “Southern Living” among a couple dozen other Dixie authors. Guess what Lewis’ article was about? Yep, the “Cocktail Party.”

Eric C.,
The last time I checked, the field in Gainesville is a hundred yards long just like it is in Baton Rouge. At any rate, all I am saying is that before Bradley crowns UGA the winner of the game Saturday, he may want to reconsider his position that the LSU victory was a complete victory. That is, UGA performed well in 2 of the 3 phases of the game (UGA’s special teams were impressive containing Trindon Holliday). Defensively, UGA has to be concerned with giving up 500 yards of total offense against Jarrett Lee and co. the week before they play against the Gator offense. And for the record, I am not a stat guy, but I do believe that there are certain stats that do matter, like the aforementioned total offensive yardage because it speaks directly to how well the D played. UGA has to get pressure on the quarterback, stop the run, and defend the pass… none of which they were able to do very well against LSU. You seem to be well informed on UGA football and even you have to admit that, yes?

So here’s my question? Why every time I turn the TV on this week every sports reporter is dogging UGA and no one is giving the Dawgs a chance in Saturdays match up with the Florida Gators? You see the Dawgs are already a 6 point under dog which actually started at 5 on Monday of this week! So it looks as if everyone is for the Gators this week, and Kirk Herbstreet already has them beating Alabama in the SEC championship. This lead me to do a little research and see why it is that Florida is everyone’s favorite! All I hear from reporters is how EXPLOSIVE the Gators offense is and how quick there defense plays well if we look at everything is Florida’s team more explosive than the Dawgs? Here are the facts. Georgia has the top passer in the SEC with Matt Stafford, and Florida QB Time Tebow is 4th. UGA has the top rusher in Knowshon Moreno with 925 yards and 10 td’s and no Florida RB to be found. Also UGA has the top pass catcher in freshman AJ Green. Not to mention on defense Rennie Curran is #2 in tackles with 69. Now I know how EXPLOSIVE Tim Tebow, and Percy Harvin are but facts are facts! Also Georgia’s 1 loss came at the hands of #2 in the nation Alabama and Florida’s to an average Ole Miss! Georgia also stomped out the Gators last year, an Urban Meyer is still crying about Mark Richt’s dance in the end zone! Will this stomp motivate the Gators? I am sure it will all the way up until the ball is kicked and than its time to lay it on the field! So again my question is, why is everyone riding the Gator wagon, and why are the Gators so much more EXPLOSIVE than the Dawgs? Hopefully Saturday will play out just like the stats for this year read and prove the Dawgs are a better team! Class….. We will show some class! Go Dawgs!!

Travis I think it’s just the high scores in the past 2 weeks. The story I see most often is that FL has found an answer in thier running game, which most of those same reporters where questioning earlier. So now its a pretty fresh story, and wow, what an answer. It’s the bad to fantastic that has thier attention, and explosive is their buzz word.
Be thankful, with the whole overblown dynamics of “motivation” in this one, UGA needs to be the underdog. Fl’s motivation is obvious. They have had a year of everyone telling them they need to get revenge. They felt like they lost something that was thiers last year. They are PO’d. That might work for them, it might not. For UGA the question is not getting pumped up as much as it is, how do they keep from being uptight, and play loose like last year. Florida is the one on the spot. Florida has the pressure on them now.

I don’t know what the over/under is for this game but there could be 100 plus points in this one and pretty evenly divided.
If not for LSU’s Scott last week, it wouldn’t have even been as close as it was. We can handle speed a lot easier than size. That dude was taking some of our best hits and just leting them bounce off.
Whoever wins the special teams battle may hold the edge on Saturday, and thats the damnable misery of it for me. If we can even that battle out by taking a few turnovers, who knows. Maybe we can keep from having to punt more than a few times. The thing is… this ain’t Kentucky coming down the track to play the Gators. We’ve had a lot of injuries, but our depth has kept us alive… kept us from “breaking out”, but kept us alive.

All of us have a team we pull for. Heck, some of us graduated from GA or FL. Bottom line we all have bias opinions.
The truth of the matter is, Matthew Stafford is considered by some “a better pro prospect” but Tim Tebow is hands down the better college QB. The record is indisputable and the Heisman Trophy is the ultimate testimony.
No poll has Stafford as a Heisman candidate while all of them are showing Tebow in the top 5.

Look, I love my Dawgs as much as anyone, but Stafford better than Tebow? Have you seen Tebow play? He’s usually the best passer and runner on the field. Stafford’s really coming into his own, and my money is on him to be the better pro, but right now Tebow and maybe Colt McCoy are the class of the college ranks.
But who cares. It’s a team game. If Georgia’s the better team on Saturday - correction, if Georgia somehow manages to score one more point than Florida on Saturday regardless of who is better - I’ll be happy.
This hype is nauseating. Let’s just play football.

There is No Crying In FootBall, folks!!! I will have to say that Matt Stafford is a much better QB because he does not cry like a little French school girl after a loss. What was up with T-Bone locking him/herself in the locker room for a FULL 45 MINUTES after the Ole Miss game before facing the media? I mean, jeepers, how many tears can you cry in that amount of time??? Timmy T-Bone is a crier and UGA made him CRY last year. UGA also made Colt Brennan CRY in the Sugar Bowl. Men as well as women cry all the time, you insensitive P O S (P is liquid, the O is for of and the S is solid. Hint, the P and the S are both body excretions). They cry when a child is born; they cry when people die; they cry even when they are angry. Men cry because crying is not just for women.
There is no crying in football? Then, why did Brett Favre, Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, John Elway and many others had cried in front of television cameras? I am going to tell you why they cried NCIFB, because they all are real men with real feelings and there is nothing wrong with crying.
Maybe by 6:30 PM this coming Saturday, you will be crying too, and that will be a good thing!
PS. NCIFB, I wonder if you would tell Tebow face to face what you are saying about him. I do not think you have the cojones to do it and you will not like to end up crying.

We have “beem” living in the present. We have also seen that your QB is a pathetic crier. I suppose that he gets that from Urban Crier, his ego-maniac coach. I mean, seriously, who the fork writes a book and titles it the way that @$$hole did? Do you love Urban and Timmy, Bert? I guess you do from your comment. Maybe you can all have some sort of a Gayturd CRY-FEST after the game. Maybe a huge group hug coupled with a lot of croc tears. That’s what Timmy likes to do when he loses and you know it. Timmy cries. Timmy is just a little boy and the Dawgs will expose him AGAIN this year. Last year it was 6 (COUNT ‘EM, SIX!!!!) sacks. How many this year, Bert boy? Get ready to CRY just like your idol QB. Hey, there’s no shame in CRYING in football down there in the swamp, huh? Got your Kleenex ready, Bert? Will your husband be watching the game with you? I would love to play the dawgs again in the sec title game but I just can’t see it happening. Gators got way too much firepower for UGA. They make it 18 of 21 and it’ll be Bama-Florida in the sec title game. Seems like old times again with Bama-UF in the title game again. Only the names will be different. Instead of Stallings-Spurrier the new tradition every year will be Saban-Meyer. Sorry for the rest of you but you might as well just start getting used to it.

Why describe this as the Tebow-Stafford bowl as if defense is irrelevant, special teams are irrelevant, running game is irrelevant, etc? The QB losing this game in the 4th qtr should be benched UGA has 12 all-world QBs on the bench who have’t played a down this year. I sometimes wonder if all the great talent goes to UGA just to they can get the best seats in the stadium.

Stafford is great. A Richt-coached quarterback of his caliber will have a solid future in the pros. But to tell you the truth, I think Andy Johnson was the greatest of all time, even though he ended a pretty darned good receiver in the NFL. Did you guess I might be a class of ‘76 alumni?

I think Georgia will score some points, just as Florida will. I dont think either defense is that good therefore fthe game will come down to special teams and coaching. I thinkl Florida has better coaches and I think Georgia has better special teams. Turnovers will decide the winnner. Georgia 2 turnovers Florida 3 so Georgia wins by 3 points.

That’s not the end of the discussion. There is no proof that Tim Tebow is a better college Quarterback. You don’t even call him a quarterback. He’s not.
As a Starter : Stafford beat Final AP Poll Number 9 Auburn 35-17. Stafford beat Final AP Poll Number 13 Florida 42-30. Stafford beat Final AP Poll Number 15 Auburn 45-20. Stafford beat Final AP Poll Number 19 Hawaii 41-10. Stafford beat current BCS Rank Number 19 LSU 52-38.
That’s half a dozen Wins over teams who ended the season ranked in the Final AP Poll Top 19 teams in the nation.
He is a Quarterback.
As a Starter : Tebow beat only Final AP Poll Number 12 vols 59-20 last season, and this season only current BCS Rank Number 19 LSU 51-20.
That’s because he is NOT a Quarterback.

Brad was right on about Mark Bradly. I am a Gator fan living in Georgia, and to read this constant hate by a supposedly objective journalist caused me to no longer take the ajc. I think GA is good…very good, but so is FL, and to constantly put down a great coach like Urban Myer (calling him Urban Crier) and putting down Tim Tebow while inciting GA fans to be hateful is quite frankly unsportsmanlike and vindictive. Report the game last year like it really happended. The final score had nothing to do with the celebration, it had more to do with Tebow not being able to lift his arm and the d-line by the end of game being decimated. That’s not to take away from the great game that GA played’ they deserved to win…it’s just the facts. You have a right to your opinion just like anyone else, but in my opinion, you have crossed the line. But then that seems to be what people do these days, whether it be politics or sports. Go Gators!

Why am I not surprised that all the sportswriters in Atlanta are picking the dogs? Please the GATORS are going to smash uga just like they have smashed everyone in their path (except Ole Miss - which was a fluke if ever there has been a fluke). Of course, all the uga fans will say “we lost to a better team (Alabama)”, but remember they higher rank when you played them (#8 - I believe). They only ascended to #2 since then. Last years win by uga was a fluke also. They win against UF every once in a while. As far as the stafford vs. Tebow question, please! The only reason Tebow’s numbers are down is because he doesn’t have to do as much this year with all the guns they have. I have watched stafford for 3 years now and I am still not that impressed! If he is so great where has he been the first 2 years of college? He has been the starter for for uga longer than tebow has been for UF. Tebow shared the job with someone his freshman year. The uga nation needs to take a reality pill and realize that God did not create uga & then the rest of the world!

Who cares if Stafford “might be the 1st pick” in the NFL Draft? That has nothing to do with his accomplishments in college or what is gonna happen on Saturday. If you notice, everyone always talks about Stafford’s NFL-ready arm and physical characteristics. Rather than his accomplishments on the field in college.. And before the LSU game folks were on the verge of calling him out for not stepping up more.(not living up to the hype) Then he beats a sorry LSU squad and he is back in the Heisman race with the local media. He played a great game but LSU may be the most overrated team in the country. We will see what he’s got Saturday but you continue to amaze me in writing about his potential. His measurables may be off the charts but the game is played on the field. And his achievements should be judged in the same fashion.. You are a joke.

If your boyfriend Stafford is such a great college quarterback, how come he is not the one holding the 2007 Heisman and was not named last year to any All America Team?
When the GA Bulls..ts and your boyfriend lost to Alabama this year he proved once again he is overrated. Weren’t they supposed to be the best team in America?
Look AH, wait until tomorrow when they get on the field and we all shall see who the better player is.
Here is something for a sissy like you to ponder about.
Stafford (3 years) 38 passing TDs with 28 interceptions and 6 rushing TDs and his efficiency rating for the three years 109, 129 and currently 146.
Tebow (3 years) 49 passing TDs with 9 interceptions and 41 rushing TDs and his efficiency rating for the three years 201, 172 and currently 157.
In case you do not know how to add, Stafford has accounted for 44 TDs and Tim “Heisman Winner” Tebow has accounted for 90 TDs. That is, you idiot, what separates Tebow from Matthew.

Dont blame Mark. Well, yes, Mark is at fault and I’d fire Mark, but not Mark Bradley. Postive thinking is important in football. Fire Richt.
This was a complete and total breakdown of football fundamentals as we know it. There was no blocking. There was no tackling. No passing, no running, no kicking, nor was there any offense, defense, sideline strategy, end zone gambits, and worst of all, they didn’t even try the cheerleader eligible play. I think at one point, because some of the Georgia Bulldogs were playing injured, they got a 12 yard penalty for too many crutches in the neutral zone.
The only good thing you can say is that the Bulldogs didn’t run the wrong way and score a touchdown for Florida. It looked like they did, but I checked, and no, all of Florida’s seven touchdowns were scored by a Gator.
It’s easy to criticize, but lets demand that Mark be fired. this is too much to bear. You blew it, Mark Richt, and I’m sorry, but there’s alot of talent waiting in line to take your sorry place.
Just resign. Resign. You stink, sir. You will not get another chance to hurt my beloved Bulldogs. They deserve better. How could you? HOW COULD YOU?
Resign Mark Richt.

UGA fans are a trip. I never thought I’d say this or they’d sink lower than Tennessee fans as far as denial goes.
The jokers took off and left the game as the rout got totally out of hand. No pride to sit there and take it? No class. Turn the “tale” and run.
The team is not coached, has no discipline and does not know the meaning of the word heart. Yet the fans carry on like they have just won a nat’l title at the least bit of a good play they may make even though they may be getting drubbed like when the Tide rolled on their sorry a*. These folks are in denial.

NCIFB and Mark Bradley,
After both of you get your heads out of the bucket answer this question, who is your Papi now?
Your Puppies got their asses beat up as I predicted previously, but 49 - 10 that is exquisite. Is Stafford better than Tebow? You got your answer on National Television.
But here are the real facts.
Tebow 35 (5 TDs) - Stafford 0 (Nothing-ZERO)
Tebow 0 Turnovers - Stafford 3 (Congratulations)
Florida 49 - Georgia 0.
If you were to write a column again, Mr. Mark Bradley, man up and write a retraction of all the BS that you fed your Puppies and their fans. I hope this defeat makes you an objective writer. For now, you STINK>
And for you, NCIFB, go cry in a little column like the b*** that you are.

I’m at the Hawks’ home opener — as of halftime, they’re playing like Georgia played — but I promise I will address the Bulldogs (and the Gators) in great detail in the next couple of days. And you will have ample chance to respond. And I hope you’ll avail yourself of it to the fullest extent.
And if you’re waiting for me to say I was wrong, wait no more.

He is a Quarterback.*
As a Starter : Tebow beat only Final AP Poll Number 12 vols 59-20 last season, and this season only current BCS Rank Number 19 LSU 51-20.
That’s because he is NOT a Quarterback.

Mark, any new thoughts on John Matthew Stafford versus Tim Tebow as college quarterbacks?
Are the Dawgs still simply the best team in the SEC, the Standard Bearers of the SEC despite losing 16 of 19 to an SEC East rival and getting not just beat but humiiated in its two biggest SEC games this year?
Will you continue to state your idiotic opinions as fact?

Well Mark, who was the best quarterback in Jacksonville today? 49-10
What was that? The Dawgs were going to put it on the Gators? You wrote that last Sunday after the LSU game, didn’t you? WRONG. 49-10
How? How did someone as stupid as you get a job as a sportswriter? How could you be so absolutely wrong and still have any shred of credibility? 49-10
How? Because you are such a homer, that’s why. The Dawg fans lap up your tripe with blind enthusiasm because they are so stupid. What do you expect from G-E-O-R-G-I-A. 49-10
See ya next year. 49-10

Are you kidding me?
That’s the same crap you wrote a few days ago!
Did you watch the game? Your boy did nothing; your boy is not in the Heisman equation; your boy looked bewildered at the end of the game and to summarize it, your boy STUNK!
It Tebow is not a QB, who was the one getting the snaps for the Gators?
IT WAS OVER WHEN…Tim Tebow ran for a 1-yard TD in the third to make it 21-3 Gators and it was clear Georgia had no answers, by ESPN.
Get a life and change your tune. Tebow proved on the field that at this time, he is the better QB.

Moreno shut down completely. Stafford back to throwing to the wrong team consistently [many thanks]. Florida capitalizing again and again. Major error kicking onside in the first half to set up a Gator score. Could there have been a more complete drubbing? Yes, we could have put in the second team defense in the final period to keep the Dawgs from scoring a touchdown but then what fun would that have been. What an incredible victory for Florida. 49-10! I was yelling ‘Joe Haden!!! Joe Haden!!! Joe Haden!!!’ ala Lindsey Scott when he intercepted and nearly took it to the house. It is great to be a Florida Gator and even better to whip the Dogs.

I, Football.
Football is my God. I loved the Colts. My dad loved the Lions. It was Thanksgiving Day, late fifties.. the colts were winning with 30 seconds to go. The lions scored. My dad approached me in a delerious hysteria and threw the big lazy boy I was sitting in around like pillow. Coulda used the baby on board sticker then.
The point is that Football was my only bond with my dad, and I became Football. I almost was cast as Tom Hank’s only friend on that desert island, but they settled for a soccor mom who had become soccor. I hate soccor moms.
I, Football. I know what every penalty flag is about before the ref explains. I’m like a pavlovian bulldog. It’s the timing of the flag. Immediate? Off sides. Slight delay? Holding. A flag thrown two plays later after the illegal act means the ref is drunk cause his wife is cheating with another soccor mom.
I hate soccor moms.
Football is in the eye of the beholder. There are no rules, not really.
Georgia could have won that game. They could still win it. All they have to do is………hire me as head coach.
I, Football.

Where are the Dawgs? I fully expect a plethora of excuses on why they lost the game. Then a detailed idiotic reasoning of why they are actually still the best team in the nation. Then a full diatribe of how Tebow sucks and Urban Crier comments. I will give you Dawg fans this-no matter how bad we beat you, how many times in a row you lose you never give up your insane notion the Dawgs are the best team in the nation. Of course, the dawg fans at the game left early to go out and sit by their RV’s to talk about what a great team they are.
Ok-on a serious side, it’s easy to be an armchair QB but if I am a Dawgfan I would be asking myself:
1 Why in thee hell did Richt do an onside kick? That’s screamed of desperation early. Why give UF’s offense that short of a field especially after just kicking a field goal?By nwb80

Bradley seemed to be in quite a rush to get that Hawks blog up and put this one, a humiliating one even by Bandwagon Bradley standards, in the archives.
I’m sure there were a lot of people watching the Hawks last night who were desperate for Bradley’s take on Zaza Pachulia. I didn’t even know the NBA season had started.

Take Stafford over Tebow / Dawgs over Gators
I am surprised by the columns written by Mark Bradley all week, and then on Saturday a column about the Hawks?
I hope that Mark will be so kind as to grace us with a column reassessing the Tebow-Stafford comparison. I am interested in Mark’s take on Richt’s now ( I think) 2-6 record against UF. How can that be acceptable to you worldbeaters? Is there a scenario this year, The Year of the Dawgs, where a 2 loss UGA squad is going to get screwed out of their shot at the NC?

UGA was no 1 to begin the season.

Georgia should not be ranked as anything after a blowout like that.
The system of gridirony that gave Georgia the #1 rank in the preseason is why I am desperately needed as the Football Man to guide all rankings in all conferences.
I know all. I see all. I am the Football Man.
Georgia? There’s eleven guys on a team, and there’s always five cheerleaders with tatoos on their lower backs on every team, so multiply the five times the Eleven, you get, #55.
Georgia is 55th in the Nation now. The Football Nation filled with Football Men.
Joe the Football Man. RU out there Joe? Joe is here with us. Where RU Joe? You’re all Joe The Football Man!!!
Waiting for Mark to resign here. I wouldn’t have the nerve to accept another paycheck as head coach if my team lost the way Mark’s team lost. It means that Mark has no idea what Football is.
Football defined: The goal line is that way. There. Over there, sir. The goal line is there. Take the ball over that line, sir. Go.

Boy Mark, you sure do know how to suck up to the home crowd, don’t you?
Stafford still sucks under pressure, and he forces throws because he thinks his arm can fit the ball into any coverage. He is almost Doug Johnson-ish in that regard.
Georgia is slightly over average, just like they were last year, but this year, Florida’s defense didn’t suck, Tebow was healthy, and we have enough of a run threat that forces teams to account for our RB’s now.
Welcome back to being Florida’s b***, Georgia. We missed you.

Favre let the Bills hang around, blew four redzone ops, and failed to burn the clock with long running plays, and voila: the bills are breathing down his neck.
FAVRE! wake up.
I’m killing time till the falcon game. This is an important game for two reasons: One, they have to win convincingly against a good team, the Raiders. Two, they have to show they can stick to a game plan and run the dang football.
Superbowl predictions: Giants vs I dont know. I’d pick the falcons if I was the head coach. But I’m not, so I dont think so.
Where do they find these coaches. Remember Leeman Bennet? WTF? what rock did he crawl out from under. Or that other idiot, who was he? Dan Reeves. These guys just didn’t understand the game. So we lose. Big. ANd it makes me sick.
Falcons start soon. Get your beer hats on. Did you see the price of beerhats lately? they’re over a hundred bucks. It’s because they went hi-tech, you know flow control valves that self autonomate, and of course the handy personal-sized french tickler that lines the insides of the hat so it fits better and when you get drunk at a football game, you never know, you know?
Go falcons. Go with quick openers inside the tackles, and you’ll do fine. … .

Just figured I’d stop by the UGAY board like the rednecks stop by the TECH board. It’s great to see how humble the dawg fans get after a loss. If they wouldnt be SO cocky and just say we’re a top 25 team with a chance to win the SEC it wouldnt be so bad. Instead, they say we’re #1. We’re gonna win the SEC.We’re gonna win the nat’l championship. Moreno’s gonna win the Heisman and Stafford’s going pro. Well guess what? DAWG NATION was wrong on all of that. Again. Now, theyre all griping about Bobo, Richt, Martinez and everything else. I do agree on that. UGAY has recruited in the top 5 for the past 6 years and still cant win the SEC or Nat’l championship. And I LOVE IT ! What makes it even better is having CPJ come in at TECH, with a new offense, defense and attitude and win football games. TECH is over acheiving, UGAY is under acheiving. AGAIN. And I LOVE THAT TOO ! GO JACKETS and TO HELL WITH UGAY !
