This blog has moved! Yes, already!

As of Thursday, Feb. 12, this little blog has relocated to a new home on AJC.com. It’s the same newspaper, the same Web site and the same writer (feel free to groan) — there’s just a new URL.

New features: Bigger type, more graphics, comments that load 10 times faster and a larger and more recent photo that makes me look pretty doggone old. I think you’ll like it (the blog, not the photo). But I am, as we know too well, often wrong.

Urban looks for payback against UGA

Urban Meyer is still ticked about Georgia’s celebration. We know this because a forthcoming book quotes Urban Meyer as saying, “It was a bad deal. And it will forever be in the mind of Urban Meyer and our football team.”

Crocodile tears from a Gator. Boo and hoo.

Named after a Pope, Urban Meyer is apparently under the impression that Urban Meyer is a saint. Never mind that Georgia was appropriately penalized - two personal fouls, the combination requiring a kickoff from the 8-yard-line. Never mind that Urban Meyer’s team is such a stickler for rules that it ranked next-to-last nationally in penalties in 2006 and 113th among 119 Division I teams in 2007. Never mind that Mark Richt has apologized repeatedly for a prescribed bit of emotion that turned into a team-wide ad lib.

Urban Meyer is still so ticked as to feel the need to refer to Urban Meyer in the third person, which as we know is the height of humility.

Urban Meyer is a good coach but something of a baby. He teared up after Florida lost at LSU in 2005, thereby earning the nickname, “Urban Crier.” He whined in 2006 that Urban Meyer’s Gators belonged in the BCS title game ahead of Michigan and began to lobby for a playoff system and then, having gotten Urban Meyer’s way and won Urban Meyer’s national championship, was moved to say, “I want to make sure I am perfectly clear that I think the bowl system is what it’s all about.”

Now this. Again from the book by Buddy Martin (titled, appropriately enough, “Urban’s Way”): “We’ll handle [the Georgia celebration]. And it’s going to be a big deal.”

Really? The same forceful way Urban Meyer’s incensed defenders handled it that day in Jacksonville? By yielding five more touchdowns and losing 42-30?

Perhaps what most rankles Urban Meyer is the realization that, with one imperfectly scripted tactical swoop, Richt changed the dynamics of a series. Perhaps Urban Meyer grasps that the Bulldogs are no longer apt to roll over and be dominated. Perhaps Urban Meyer is just sorry that he, Urban Meyer, didn’t think of it first.

If he wanted payback he had the rest of the game to do it.What happened?

By David

They had 3 quarters to do something about it if they were so p**. When your defense gets handled there isn’t much you can do. It will make a difference in intensity in the fans and at the beginning of the game but after that it’s up to the best team to win and it’s a non-factor.

Interesting. It appears that last season’s end zone stunt has put the Dawgs in the Gators’ heads just as Spurrier’s barbs and antics got in the heads of a different generation of Dawgs. Sure, the Gators and Meyers will get a share of wins against Georgia in future years, but the End Zone Celebration just may have been the psychological ploy which put an end to Gator domination of the series since the 90s.

If UGA is in the head of the Gators this much then great. Is UGA supposed to be intimidated by the threat of a payback? Please…like so many others have already said… UGA did it in the first qtr. The gators had the rest of the game to respond and they got their gator butts handed to them.

Bad Deal? No, the bad deal was Meyer waiting to call timeout on the fieldgoal attempt. It didn’t work, but was still poor sportmanship! Perhaps Meyer should learn from his quarterback, who instead of whining, complimented Richt. Tebow said it surprised him, but inspired him to play harder.

Look, you have to understand that there is some reconstruction work going on in gatorland after that fiasco of a bowl game against Michigan. Coach Meyer may have to consider sub-Urban life if the reptilians take another smacking around at the paws of those hungry dawgs.

If Meyer only had as much class as Tebow. Myer is still crying about it and Tebow has said that he thought it was a good move by UGA. Thats because it was. It did change not only change the game but the mindset of the series as a whole. UGA called out UF and then backed it up with a beatdown. That will stick in the UF players minds for years to come.

Hey ever gator if what goes around comes around then you mean UGA will 17 of the next 20 games with UF. Thanks for your vote of confidence. We believe so too.

Also, with all of Meyers shady recruiting tactics and lying UF will be the next SEC school to be put on probation. He has made way too many enemies among other coaches etc. He has zero respect for anybody and zero class.

So, Urban Cryer is still mad about the TD dance, huh? Well, guess what? Nobody who wears the red & black gives a rat’s @$$ about Coach Cryer or his huffing and puffing about it. The reason? From 1990 until now, with only a few instances in between, UGA has come up on the short end of the score in this game. During this time, all I remember seeing was Gator players talking smack, doing their gator chomp, dancing on the sidelines, cutting pieces of the hedges down when they won in Athens, and generally making @$$es of themselves. They pretty much challenged UGA to do something about it on the field if they didn’t like it. Now……the tide has turned. UGA has split the games over the last 4 times the teams have played. The series is beginning to resemble a rivalry again…..and poor UF and Urban Cryer don’t like it. The gators are virtually becomming odsessed with UGA, and beating them again. Everything they are doing, judging by recent articles is geared at “revenge” against UGA. I love it! All of the sudden, UGA isn’t just an “afterthought” on the UF schedule anymore. All of the sudden, UGA is in the head of the head gator….just like Dooley and UGA was in the heads of UF during the 70s and 80s. Well, tough $h!t, Urban. We owe UF for all those times their players shoved it in our faces while proclaiming that their antics were just “part of football.”

By GATORZONE

July 24, 2008 8:55 AM | Link to this

UGA clearly had a better team last year, and that is why the Gators lost. However, this will provide motivation to the Gators this year! If they get beat again, Urban will have lots of explainin to do! Florida’s Defense better be 100% better, or Urban may have bigger issues than most people realize!

This is actually great news for the Dawgs. If Urban continues to dwell on this, and lets his team dwell on it, it will affect thier preparation for the game.

How can you defend such a low class act? It is sad that Richt had to use a tactic such as that. I thought he had more class than that. It was a typical Georgia “redneck” act. Breaking the rules of the game was easy for the Dawgs, they practice br breaking the law during the off season. Go ACC

Gator Zone…

I agree with you that if UF has another 9-4 season finishing 3rd in the SEC east then Meyer will be on the hot seat. He has way too much talent to finish like he did last year. I do think that UT will get their revenge on UF this year and give them their first loss early in the season. As we can see Meyer’s only focus is UGA and that will be his downfall.

Bradley,

You are such a pathetic homer its not even funny! CMR can do no wrong in your eyes and while he is an incredible coach, the stunt last year was classless. May have worked, but still classless. The Gators are gonna hand it to the Dawgs this year and I believe the difference will be the payback factor. We all know what comes around goes around..

By the way, I can’t stand Florida and don’t particularly like Urban Meyer. But don’t act like he doesn’t have reason to be upset. How do you think CMR and the Dawgs would feel if the tables were turned? Keep plugging these Dawgs because every time you do you put them much higher on that pedestal and that fall is gonna be a beotch.

Let the players duke it out on the field. It will make Nov 1st an exciting day!! I agree w/ some earlier posts..worry about the games ahead of GA. But if your mindset is still on last year..maybe that will benefit the Dawgs and FL will have 2 SEC losses by the time GA plays them. GO DAWGS!!

Hey David……7 in a row….nuff said….

Now on to the real topic, how many times has a CUM coached UF team danced at midfield or was disrespectful to the opposing team? Plenty….way more than any UGA team.

And the celebration? It was a team celebration and other than TS’s dance, it was not directed at UF but a team celebration. It got a little out of hand but the desired results were attained.

Unless they bring in Tampa Bay’s defense, get ready for more of the same this year….3 of 5 and counting…..

Georgia fans are dreaming if they think that one game changed the dynamics of this series. Florida will beat Georgia this year and last years little endzone party will be part of the reason. The biggest will be that Florida is the better football team. 15-3 will go to 16-3 since 1990 as the Gators win the SEC and play for the National Championship.

Do you Florida fans listen to yourselves? Saying “what goes around comes around” - do y’all not remember the 90s? Let me refresh: Spurrier’s repeated taunting from the safety of the media rooms, running up the score, etc. The way I see it, we’ve got about 5 or 6 more endzone celebrations before we sink to your level on the classless scale. Hey Idiot Bradley,

How many times does it have to be said? The ‘classless’ move was a botched directive from CMR. It was a HUGE mistake that ended up working out ok.. but it may have appeared classless, but it really wasn’t intended to be what it is, so the blame for it needs to stop. It’s all been explained countless times over so you and others need to let it go and call it what it was… a mistake, not a classless move.

The one thing Mark Bradley did not comment on was that players could have been seriously hurt by the Georgia players running onto the field. One bump or push, could have set off a melee and had both benches pour onto the field. The safety of the players, on both sides, could have been in jeopardy. Unfortunately, it has also set up a potential confrontations with some of the fans of both teams at the game. Just read the comments above. There are some people with a lot of anger defending each school. Hoefully, cooler heads will prevail.

UGA has nothing to brag about, and that stunt by CMR last year could have been much more costly. It was cheap and immature. Spurrier would have sent a thug on the field to start a fight and would have been over in 2007 for both programs.

Tebow is still the stud in the SEC and the man to beat. UGAY got lucky last year, but the same will not happen this year, because Florida will be ready.

I predict a serious throttling of UGAY by the Gators (51-14) and the record will move to 16-19, with Florida winning the last 16 of 19.

UGAY has no clue whatsoever…none…

Good for UGA on the big win last year. If Miami did that dance, they would’ve been persecuted as the same thugs that they always were. It got in the heads of the Gators so much that we scored 4 plays later. We lost the game cuz we had 3 rookies filling in the defensive line and UGA did a good job exploiting it. I, for one, am glad that UGA finally stepped up and we can maybe consider this a rivalry again….Dominance for 17 yrs isn’t a rivalry.

Bradley, why don’t you get a job at UGA? Meyer said it was a big deal, but based on all the print and publicity it’s generated by numbskulls at Georgia, it’s probably going to go into their hall of fame as the greatest moment in their embarasssing history. If all a coach can do for his legacy is change the uniforms or send a bunch of thugs to the endzone to celebrate - and yes, I do believe in this series they acted like they weren’t used to being there - so much the better. All you whiners from Ga need to brace up, you never know how LSU, Auburn, Ga Tech or anybody else may choose to “celebrate” when they open up a can of whoopass on your beloved, overrated pups. The one thing this little episode did do is demonstrate to the rest of the nation what locally we all know - no class.

Amen UGA Garbage

Posts like this are the reason that everyone hates UGA and loathes this program. The fans are arrogant, ignorant and have no clue about class or being a real champion.

UGAY will never be ever to compare themslves to LSU, Texas, Southern Cal, OU, UF, OSU or even Miami. These are true Titletowns, and not Athens.

The bottom line is ESPN’s titletown will never visit Athens, because Athens has no class, and the same reason the College Game Day avoids Athens like the plague.

UGAY beats Florida 3 of the last 19 times and all of a sudden they are a powerhouse.

Well Spurrier said it best last year after he continued his domination over UGAY….”it is not like we beat some powerhouse.” LOL!!!

I can’t believe Meyer would let this eat him up so much. Hilarious. Even if he is stilled mad he really shouldn’t go around telling everybody and writing in his book for all to read. Bottomline is Richt evidently tatooed a big G on Meyer’s soul (if he has one) as a coach. The man got embarrassed and couldn’t do anything about it. You do things on the football field you get penalized and you get over it. Heck kicking off from the 8 yard line against the mighty Gators is virtually giving you seven points.

How do I have the balls to say 3 of 5 and counting…..well, lets look at the teams….we are basically bringing back the same teams and your guys up front were D O M I N A T E D! Nothing will change there this year. You have no depth along the Dline and your Oline will be just as bad as last year against our Dline. With Knowshon running for 150 and Stafford throwing for a couple of big plays, it will be a repeat of last year. Sorry Gayturds…..you are the most overrated team this year and it will be shown to the nation early in the year.

Mark Richt is lucky his horrific idea didn’t produce a brawl. Players should have been ejected for that ridiculous fiasco. Just imagine what would have happened if Meyer decided he wanted to respond in kind, or if some other coach saw how good this worked and though about doing it himself? It is a dangerous and horrible thing to do, and that is why Richt eventually figured out he should apologize for it, and that is why I guarantee you we’ll never see it again. He’s no moron, and looking back he can see just how awful it is.

And of course UGA would have won that game either way because they were obviously the better team that day. UF went on to score a TD on the following drive, so it’s not like they were rattled. They were just not as good on that day.

Finally, it’s not as though the incident could really make UF try harder in that game. When you’re on the football field in front of 80,000 people you’re trying your hardest no matter who you are. What that incident will do is make UF’s players try harder in the spring and summer, which will affect this year’s game.

Oh, and bringing up UF’s penalties in this context is absolute nonsense. Only a fraction of those penalties were unsportsmanlike conduct, and none of those were ordered by the coach the way they were in this case. It is something I’ve never seen before, it is shameful. It has come to overshadow what would have been just as brilliant and just as monumental a victory without it. It was a huge mistake, and for anyone to pretend otherwise because they hate Urban Meyer or UF is simply foolish.

I don’t have a “dawg” (dog…which is it?) in this fight cause I don’t support either school. However, Richt showed that he is classless by encouraging his team to break the rules. Maybe UF was penalized a lot by the officilas last year but I would venture to say that the penalties they received were not prodded on by their coach…Richt is supposed to be a Christian man…how does that square with playing by the rules? It doesn’t…what damage is done to the cause of the Christ he follows by these actions?

If Meyer lets this thing become a big deal, then he has lost control of the situation. I would think that the better approach would be the one Tebow has taken, play it down, focus on playing th season. Say nothing publicly about payback. What he says now is just noise.

Then, just before kickoff, show the video of the celebration to your Gator team and tell them “payback time is NOW.”

You can’t motivate a team in July for a game that’s played in November. Everytime he mentions it now, it just waters down the emotion.

Funny. Georgia wins 3 3 out of 20 and they are in the Gators ‘heads?’ “dawg fans are in for a rude awakening this year. Last years squad got a lot of pub for a team that did not win the East and they will likely fall on their face this year. Between the over hype, expectations, arrests, other serious off field issues involving major players, they will fall short of their goals and will again hope for an at-large bid. Okay, here comes the reality Dawg. First off, let me say that I like what CMR did, although, the repercussions of the incident cannot be ignored. It was blown out of proportion, which we should expect, if it happened to us, we would be saying the same things. Second, to say that that move has “turned the rivalry around” is nonsense. That cannot be determined until UGA wins 2 or 3 FL games in a row, or 3 out of 4, or something like that. We can hope that it will change the rivalry for the better, but just can’t make that statement now. So of course Urban Meyer will use this as motivation, he should. The way he does it will either help them, or could help us. Let’s see how CMR uses this to do some reverse motivation.

Take the Florida game, Stomping on VANDY I repeat VANDY’s logo, and not to mention the dawg nation being the biggest bunch of cry babies on the planent after not going to the nc after not even making it to their own division championship. If im not mistaken, last year at this game when the Dawgs ran on the field (and turned the tides) Urban Crier was seen gathering all his little Gayterds up and having them jump up and down RIGHT NEXT TO HIM ON THE FIELD when he called the timeout!! All I know is he did the exact same thing (even though we started it)! I was just wondering because none of the Gayterds have said anything about that part!!! Oh yeah, and that didnt work!!! I have a brand new respect for Tim Tebow! i will no longer call him Tim Teblow anymore (even though its hilarious) because he said “it was a good move, and i think CMR was smart to do it”! That is pretty sorry when your 19 year old Quarterback is more mature (doesnt cry) and problably a better football mind then you are! I dont mean to keep going on but i have to vent!! This kid carried your team on his back last year….and if you keep doing that, this great quaterback is not gonna be healthy enough to go to the NFL!

Who cares about dancing in the endzone. It happens all the time. It is an unsportmanlike and deserves 15 yards(30 whatever). I care about winning; not about who said what. He is acting like a baby. The reason FL lost last year had nothing to do with an endzone dance. It had to do with GA offense overpowering FL defense. If he wants revenge he better spend his time practicing stopping the run and not who can out dance who in the endzone. I hope Urban Meyer spends all week preparing for a dance competition instead of a SEC football game.

You will never ever hear me say anything negative about a kid playing the college game. Coaches are another matter entirely. Urban Meyer is all about Urban Meyer. He wants to be a rock star. The center of attention. He should wear a t-shirt with a big bold ME on the front and back. News flash Coach. You are in the SEC now. You are going to get your butt handed to you from time time. Handle it with class. There are coaches in the SEC that can out coach you consistently. Lose with class. Because you are going to lose. The SEC damn sure isn’t going to roll over for you. Maybe instead of talking in the 3rd person, you should be figuring a way to come up with a defense before several SEC teams embarrass you this year. You will not win without defense in the SEC. I am not big on predictions, but here and now I will project that UT beats you, LSU beats you, and UGA beats you. Some of them might get ugly. Those teams play defense. You are extremely fortunate you don’t play Auburn. Furthermore, I would be willing to bet that 3 years from now Coach Meyer will be looking for a way out. Spurrier could back it up Coach. You haven’t proven that you can do that yet. Just my take.

Bradley is on a roll. This is two horribly written columns in a row. I thought blaming the Hawks because a Greek team was willing to pay Childress more than any NBA team was ever going to pay was about as dumb as Bradley could get. But, he raises the bar of his stupidity by complaining that Meyer wrote a book that contains his honest feelings on what happened. Too bad Richt does not know such honesty. The real issue here is that Richt’s move was a short term tactic that will have long term implications.

Vince Dooley’s unmerciful poundings against the Gators (including one game when he kicked a late second FG to make it 48-0) stuck in the mind of Stephen Orr Spurrier, who retaliated by dismantling UGA through most of the 90’s.

Right or wrong, the 2007 game is etched in Meyer’s mind, and he will no doubt use it as motivation for future Gator players to come Unfortunately, UGA will probably be playing UF when it counts most (playing for NC spot) on the heels of an irate Urban Meyer. As much as last year’s game meant to Bulldog fans, I would much rather be assured of a victory this year when its implications are highest.

The talk about UGA’s D is hilarious. A healthy Tebow will be extremely tough for UGA to defend. Additionally, let’s see how physical that D is after a night game in Baton Rouge. I suspect LSU is gonna teach the over confident UGA fans a little bit about hard nosed defense.

Take a look at the last few LSU-Auburn games. By far the most physical games played in the SEC every year. There really is no comparison, and UGA fans would be well advised to take a further look into that.

It is very difficult to go for Florida against anyone, but the blatant lack of college football knowledge constantly exhibited by metro-area UGA fans may be enough to pull for the Gators.

Is it just me, or does anyone else thing that game hinged on who played better, not some incident early in the first quarter. I dont really think the celebration “changed” anything. Except the look on the Florida Coach’s face. Truth be told , for all the brilliance awarded to Coach for directing it, it really wasnt even what he was talking about in an offhanded comment to his team in the locker room after the Vandy game a week before. The team deserves more credit, Or fault if thats your take, as it was ad-lib.

I have also Never bought any of the “in thier heads” theory. Us or Them. With extremely few exception, the better team on paper has always won that game. If the Gators win this year, its because they flat were a better team, NOT any kind of revenge of that silly crap. The revenge will be they hated losing. So would our guys.

As I have said many times, although sort of joking, but now Meyers makes me believe there is something to it actually: keep on hinging your motivation of some insignificant penalty from last year, that will last about 2 plays. In the words of Mike Tyson, everyone has a plan till you get punched in the mouth. And UM just gave our coaches WAY more bulletin board material than they can ever get from this. “(the gators) are going to handle it, and its going to be a big deal”? Big deal? You mean like one of the oldest, biggest, nastiest rivalries going, before you ever came to town? Like that kind of big deal? Dumb thing to put out there coach. Make yourselve look like a cry baby AND stoke the other team. Real Dumb.

Why all the hate on Georgia an Florida? Damn people be proud of your program and what each has accomplished. Being a fan of college football I cannot wait till Jacksonville this year. Hopefully both will be undefeated and the game will be all that college football should be. I am surrounded by a bunch of Big Ten and Notre Dame fans. They think they know football. Program strength comes and goes. UF in the 90’s was unstoppable with SOS at the helm. Not a person out that can’t argue that one. Regarding the endzone celebration? Not nearly as bad as “half a hundred”. But I am over that one.

Hilarious to hear the Dawg fans tell Meyer to get over it when they’re still whining about Spurrier and all of his stunts. See the correlation there?

If the situation was flipped, all any UGA fan would think about would be getting revenge for that classless act.

Of course, now’s the time for UGA fans to talk smack…they have an absolutely loaded team and should contend for the NC. But think real hard about how you would consider a coach who instructed his players to do that; a team that danced on the Vandy logo…VANDY; and a program that’s had numerous arrests over the summer. Anyone remember the 90s-era Miami Hurricanes???

Man! I couldn’t possibly hate anything more than I hate the University of Florida Gators.

People can say what they want to about UGA being “classless,” etc. I know, as does everyone else, that the celebration could have blown up in our faces. In fact, I am pretty sure that after I leaped from the recliner and let out a couple of “Hell yeahs,” I said something to the effect of “Man, I sure hope that stunt doesn’t come back to haunt us.” After all, we had almost 4 quarters of football to play (if memory serves). I am certain that most UF fans were smilling about that time saying to each other, “Lap it up now because you’re going to regret that move.” Unfortunately, that prophecy didn’t pan out, thus we have the comments that UGA is “full of thugs” and we are “classless”, etc. Hmmm… I wonder what the comments would have been had we lost… How about, “HAHA! You mutts should rush the end zone every year!”

Back to the point. I think anyone that says that we are classless or arrogant is suffering from one condition; being a sore f’ing loser. Which, by the way, is what I think of Urban Meyer’s comments in his upcoming book.

I have had to admit that I have stated several times in the past that I think that Tebow and Urban are great guys, a great player, and a great coach. However, I can now say that I have lost a good deal of respect for one of these two. Tebow addressed the question appropriately, saying things like the “two best teams” will be playing a “intensified” and “very big game” on the heels of last year’s whoopin’. Urban on the other hand, WAAAAAH!

See you in November Gayturds!

I have one thing to say about uga fans, WHERE THE HELL HAVE YALL BEEN??? Its like now all of a sudden everyone is a uga fan. You all are very fair weather fans! Let’s see what is going to happen when uga loses at least 4 games this year. Let’s see if all the uga items will still be around.. Let’s obvious that uga fans are not use to winning much.

By thogwummpy

Gators tend to selectively forget Spurrier’s habit of sending HIS teams off the bench to taunt Georgia fans in their part of the endzone. So, UGA’s celebration was payback well deserved…and the poor sportsmanship complaining tradition at Gainesville, is still intact.

Idiot Bradley,

I see your standards about ‘class’ are a little skewed since you have to resort to calling me a moron. But, when that’s all you have to give validity to your argument, you show that you really don’t have any validity or class yourself. Yes, it’s a botched directive. Excessive celebration by the players on the field at the time of the TD sends a much different message than the entire team clearing the bench, and Urban wouldn’t be as upset as he is about it all now if that had happened the way CMR had directed it. It would not have appeared to be the middle finger to UF that it did. It would have been the players on the field celebrating together. A penalty would have been issued and that would have been the end of it. DMR never wanted the other team to be taunted or insulted. He wanted his players to get fired up as they never had before. It would have been classless if he had told them to go out there and celebrate as they did, but he didn’t. I can’t believe it takes a moron to explain that to you.

It really is ridiculous for Urban to be bringing this up now. Was it a good move? It can be debated. It did work out for the Dawgs. Urban obviously is worked up about it so much to be talking about it in July. If he is so holy and righteous….talk to his team the week before the game. Richt is obviously in his head…and that will tend to make him less effective as a coach. If UGA jumps ahead early….look for the Gators to get antsy and possibly panic.

Florida has NEVER, yes that’s right, NEVER gone undefeated. So any MNC they claim they needed luck to even play for. LSU hasn’t gone undefeated in 50 years, both their recent MNC’s were luck of the draw as well. The NCAA doesn’t award the thing, it’s a popularity contest. So the whole “win something” and then talk is bogus because Richt had the same record as the Cryer in his 2nd Year as well. The only difference is that OSU & Miami were undefeated, though neither all that good, and nobody was undefeated in 2006. But what IS won on the field is the games played and the SEC Championship, for which Georgia has won more of both than either LSU or Florida.

UGA has a winning record against the SEC, so I’m glad they’re not OSU-like.

Miami just finished losing 48-0 to Virginia, I don’t care to be that flash in the pan either.

Spurrier made some ignoramous comments? What’s new. When you leave your alma mater, prove a miserable failure in the NFL and then show what and incredible coach you are by finishing with 5 straight losses and sitting at home for bowl season, you probably should keep your mouth shut.

And further, this is the AJC, this is Atlanta, GA. UGA is the state of Georgia’s team. If you don’t like that, move. But don’t get upset that the local paper panders to the largest local fanbase.

All of that nonsense being said, Florida may beat UGA this year, they may not. But if they do, it’ll have very little to do with “payback”, which is the biggest nonsense in sports. Execution wins ballgames

Let’s face it folks, Urban Meyer is the worst this country has to offer in college coaches. His style of managing and influencing young men is sick. Good thing the quality of his athletes is down on the level of his integrity and ethics. He needs to get used to being a loser. That takes a lot more spine than crying about anything which doesn’t go your way. He makes me puke. You Dogs go get them again this year, OK? By the way, this comes from a Tech grad and lifelong Tech fan. I detest those Gators, and am hoping y’all stomp the stuffings out of them, like they deserve.

Mike, You’re an IDIOT!! You obviously do not know Mark Richt personally or the story behind the celebration. Anyway, who made you the judge??? The misinterpretation of what Richt asked the offense to do last year against UF has been ridiculously overblown! UGA needed a spark and we got one. The motivation needed was discovered and continued throughout the game. There was NO WAY on Earth that UF could have beaten UGA last year! There was too much adrenaline flowing through those red and black veins! Talk about sour grapes from anyone who still dwells on this loss!!
Urban is the most immature adult coaching in the NCAA. GET OVER IT URBAN! It’s too bad Tebow, your Jr QB is more mature and has tons more class than you. You need to listen to Tebow and you might learn something. And I LOVE the fact that Mark Richt is “in your head!”

Bottom line is, regardless if you believe this was the right thing to do, or the “what if a fight broke out” talk. It happened the way it did! THE DAWGS ARE NOW IN THE GATORS’ HEADS, and this proves it! No matter what happens in this year’s match-up, this game won’t be the same.

Does anyone remember Urban’s response after the celebration? He was jumping around the sideline, waving his arms, and trying to fire up his team. I remember thinking, have we awoke the sleeping giant? Not a chance, quite the opposite happened. Now that I think about it, Urban’s immediate response made him look like an idiot, and he got out-coached, and he should have sucked it up. He’s now given the DAWGs exactly what they’re looking for - and EDGE!

Like I said, we’re now inside their heads. It’s a beautiful thing.

The apex of idiotic whining for a BCS championship shot was Angel Richt’s absolutely hilarious case for the Dawgs at the end of last season. A team that couldn’t even make it to the top of its own division, much less play in the SECCG, somehow thought it belonged in the big title game. Of course, Richt’s ridiculous fan base — and Bradley — bought it, too.

The truth is that it’s the powers of the SEC — LSU, UT, ALA and UF — that have delivered the conference’s national championship reputation since 1992. UGA has been only a speed bump during that run.

Try winning a national title in the modern era. Then talk.

I’m a BYU alum and Georgia native. When his Urbaneness what coaching Utah, he had a fat defensive tackle run a toss sweep from the one yard line in the closing minutes of a Utah blowout of BYU. To hear him complain about the Dawgs first quarter end zone celebration, when the outcome was far from settled, is the height of hipocracy. Go Dawgs.

Mark, Spot on!!! I agree that Urban can only be MAD at himself because he did a pi$$poor job of having his team ready for the physical and emotional rigors of this game. Apparently the Gators had assumed that all they had to do was roll their helmets onto the field against the Dawgs. I am a UGA homer but Richt has really gotten into “The Legend’s” head. The most hilarious part of the “dance” was the TV shots of Urban vainly trying to rally his team to respond to UGA’s emotion. Kindof looked like a chicken trying to fly…alot of flapping without going anywhere.

Florida fans as a whole are not delusional as are our friends at the trade school. The more knowledgable Gator fans see the deterioration of Florida’s defense as being a direct reflection on Meyer’s stewardship and recruiting philosophy. They see a cause for concern there. They know that UF can’t sustain their winning ways in the SEC without solid defense. And to the guy that scapegoats a “young” defense, check it out. UGA’s was younger. Maybe they were just more competently coached. There is cause for concern at UF.

Once again, the UGa blog shows all the intellectual depth of a nursery school class. Wait, that’s an insult to nursery schools. Let me explain this to you. I’ll make it as simple as possible. Dummies, Meyer knows that Georgia will be Florida’s chief rival for the SEC East title. There’s no way Florida will contend for the national title if they can’t at least win the SEC title, which they can’t win if they don’t win the East. He’s going off the assumption that this year’s Georgia - Florida game will be pretty high stakes for two teams with BCS Title aspirations. So he’s getting started early with the motivation for his team. God, how hard was that, really???? Funny how one win makes Georgia fans think they are suddenly dominant in the rivalry, conveniently forgetting all the previous years of Florida whippings. When I hear our idiot president say things like “Wall Street got drunk” to explain the current financial state of the nation, I wonder all over again why he ever got elected…and then I read these blogs and I know why, because I see the type that voted for him. I need a drink.

How many did he win his first year at Fla.? I cant remember but I think Urban Cry almighty lost four that first year too didnt he? I know this going back kinda far in the comments, but “they practice breaking the law in the offseason. go acc,” is that the pot calling the kettle black. ACC has just as many criminals playing as every other conference. If you are a tech fan, keep in mind one of your starting DB’s was arrested on rape charges just over a month ago. The UGA players arrested this year, two were DUI charges, the other was an assault charge, where I am sorry but who is stupid enough to fight a 290lb DL. He deserved to get his a* handed to him. Still neither of those charges are naerly as bad as rape. If you are an FSU or UM fan I am not even going to touch on that cause well, no one cares about UM and Bobby B is the man so he can play whoever he wants. I wonder what the great Urban Meyer would think about his team being allowed to celebrate every point they score with a Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake sideshow in exchange for the Florida Reptiles playing the Georgia game here in Atlanta for the next 100 freaking years? Tebow is a good QB, but what most miss about this program is how much they are out of control. Cervone is the DA in Alachua County and he is a major booster of the program, an adjunct professor at UF, and just so happens that HE decides who gets prosecuted in the UF football players’ incidents. Oh, did I mention that HE got a national champs ring along with the team? Meyer loses and he throws his coaches under the bus (see Michigan post game conf). He has consistently shown how vane a person can be.

UF is not a platinum palace like some think. They recruit the “top 1% of the top 1%” Well, if that’s the case, then can they explain Jamar Hornsby (aka “use a dead girl’s credit card for one year after her death”), Joiner, Atkins, and many of the other misfits since Pope Urbane Meyer showed up. Gainesville is dirty, very dirty. Possibly the dirtiest program of all.

Coach Richt showed again the class he has with his premeditated end zone celebration. He was just trying to appeal to his core fan base. The draft beer drinking high school drop outs who make up a majority of UGAs fans. He is a classless act and it fits right in with dawgs. I am looking forward to Spurrier shutting up the dawgs this year.

Jim Donnan you are FIRED- What the hell is your point???? When was the last time Uga went undefeated??? Almost 30 years ago!! There are teams (Auburn) in your own damn conference who have accomplished that feat twice in the last 15 years. I LOVE how you dolts always bring up the MNC. I GUARENTEE you if you idiots had backdoored your way into the national championship last year and won you would not have called that a MNC. The BCS has been in existance for 10 years and 3 times (2003, 2006,and 2007) all SEC teams mind you the champ has had a loss or two. So I guess all of those are MNC huh???? You are just a f’ing idiot.

You and Richt are contradicting yourselves - was it emotion or was it planned? Decide which it was and then build your argument.

First you say - “for a prescribed bit of emotion that turned into a team-wide ad lib.”

Then you say - “he is just sorry that he didn’t think of it first”, meaning that Richt thought through and planned it.

If it’s the former, I agree that they were penalized for what they did and it should be dropped already. But if it’s the latter I would disagree and say it was just dirty play and regardless if they were penalized, it just goes to show to what unethical lengths UGA will go to.

It just seems like everyone always come down hard on UF and constantly finds excuses and reasons instead of realizing that we’re in the same conference and it’s good to have healthy competition. The SEC as a whole is the strongest, most dominant group of schools, proven over and over again.

Rob,

Keep drinking that Choir Boy Kool Aid that CMR is selling up there- he learned from the best when coaching the Criminoles. If calling it a botched directive takes the heat off Mr. Goody Two Shoes, then keep on living the lie. I’m sure it was all an innocent mistake and that was not the intention- although if you look at the tape it looked pretty well planned to me. And there is no denying the fact that he instructed his players to break the rules and be penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct. Or was that just a big misunderstanding too? Moron.

Good point Gary. And Tebow was man enough to give the UGA D the credit it deserved for sacking him 7 times. Unlike his prima donna coach that still scapegoats a TD celebration that was answered with a UF TD minutes later. I’m a UF fan and I have some reservations about Urban Meyer. We won’t win in the SEC with the defenses that Meyer is putting on the field. These guys are his recruits, not Zooks. He should write Ron Zook a thank you letter for his NC. I have no doubt we will never win another under this coach if he doesn’t start paying attention to his defense.

I’m a Gator and I thought you guys celebrating in the endzone was way cool. It was one of the type of events that make college football such a great sport. What is truly astounding is how the press and the talking heads are making it appear that this is such a big deal with Urban. Trust me, he really doesn’t care. But will he try and seize an opportunity to use the event to motivate his team for the upcoming game? What do you think? Also, the upcoming book is not his book, it’s a book about him and his philosophies written by others. He didn’t want to be involved but for some reason he relented and granted access and interviews. Mark Bradley is a fool who pulls one quote from an entire book to get a front page story on the UGA newspaper (AJC) - Florida has gone 15-3 in the game since 1990 and now all of a sudden UGA has the upper hand b/c they won a game and ran on the field to hug each other? Mr. Bradley states Urban is upset b/c he didn’t think of running on the field first but then slams him for lobbying UF’s opportunity to be in the Nat’l Championship (which they won) - didn’t UGA do that last year with no success? So now UF has their 2nd National Championship since 1990 and UGA is left with the insignificant memory of Crazy H.Walker who wants to fight Spurrier and that “dramatic” game of a bunch of tools in red and black high-fiving each other in the end zone…Mark Bradley continues to be a hack journalist from KY - that’s right, KY, not GA…

15-3 over the last 18 years. Yep one game sure does change the dynamic of the series(sarcasm for those who can not recognize it in athens). Seriously folks, 15-3 has been fun but both these programs are in the top ten in the country and will remain there as both have excellent young coaches and if you can not see that you are blind. Both teams have good or great reurning players. The reality is this year UF has advantage due to schedule. LSU the week before is a tall order physically. ASk us what it is lke to play UGA banged up, it sucks. And to think UF will not score is ridiculous. Final score 34-21 Gators. Off to the fiesta bowl for uga to play ohio st and the gators play the real USC for it all.

You people live in a fantasy world. ONE stunt, ONE game changed the dynamics of an entire series? You have to go on more than a 1 game winning streak before talking s**. As for the following 3 quarters, many Gators had a bad feeling about the game. It had little to do with “how dominant UGA” was. Tebow was seriously banged up. He took sacks he never would have otherwise taken because he was doing what the coaches told him to. He wouldn’t scramble or try to make a play. Because of losing that deversity, the UF play calling was predictable and UGA took advantage of that. With a healthy Tebow, the game may have come out different. Irrelevant now, except at some point this year you will be exposed. You have a solid team, but not as dominant as you’re inflated ego would have you believe. Enjoy it while it lasts. Your 1 game winning streak comes to an end soon.

Gator fans are not “ticked” about the behavior of the UGA players in last year’s game, but if UGA fans want to believe that go right ahead. You can focus on that and Gator fans will focus on the upcoming season.

Keep in mind UGA fans that nothing that happened in last season’s game will help you this year. You were the better team that day, but when we play this year UF will have an improved defense and some actual rbs.

UGA players should not plan on any endzone celebrations this year.

Here is the bottom line with this. If Urban was so upset by this “big deal” he had the whole game to do something about it. Suck it up and get over it! Anybody that refers to himself like this guy is a real putz. And with this Tebow injury beef, UGA did not whine about when Shockley was out for the entire game, when we still lost by only two points. Even Tebow didn’t complain like his ctybaby coach. At least when we lose our coach doesn’t cry on national TV!

UGA fans, you’re definitely fired up for the season and maybe you’ve got a right to be. But there are lots of good teams out there and going all the way is tough.

Ask schools that are in the NC hunt on a regular basis - USC, OU, FL, OSU - they’ll tell you how hard it is. And since you’re not one of the regular “hunters” maybe you should try some of that humility you think is so lacking in Urban Meyers.

Oh, and next year, when you want to whine because some team beat you, remember… whining isn’t the “SEC standard” that you’re setting today.

I watched this game again the other day (I’m weird, I know) and in my opinion Georgia didn’t win the game because of the celebration. They won because they outplayed the Gators. As much as I disliked the celebration and would like to believe that UGA will rue the day they taunted Florida in such a way, I don’t think it will have anything to do with how things go in Jax on Nov. 1, 2008. If Florida is going to win this year, and I believe they will, they’re going to do it by playing better than UGA. Simple as that. Revenge as a factor in deciding games is entirely overrated and for the most part a factor only to people in the media who need to generate hype. It’s not going to help you make a tackle or outrun a defender. Neither side in this rivalry, which is the best in college football, needs anything extra to get them motivated. If both teams take care of business in September and October, this will be the biggest game of the season in college football. I can’t wait for it to get here! 100 days until kickoff! (On a side note, Mark Bradley is about the biggest homer I’ve ever read.)

Think about this; those are the kind of things that Miami always did in the 80’s and 90’s and they are still trying to dig out from under the reputation they built. Is that really what you want for UGA??? You shouldn’t be surprised when people don’t forget it the next day.

Wait, so calling a timeout before a kicker attempts a field goal is “bad sportsmanship” even though its a common practice in the NFL and College football… but sending your entire team to celebrate in the endzone after 1 touchdown is just great coaching? hahahha you pathetic morons. It should be real encouraging to you all that your coach needed that along with several other gimmicks to motivate his players all the way to that historic season of yours… which garnered you a second place finish in the SEC east. Well done. lol Oh and by the way that book is being released soon so those interviews were done several months ago, likely around the end of the season. Revisionist history, selective memory, and marginal reading ability appear to be your trademarks. I NEVER said that Auburn didn’t deserve to be in the 2004 MNC game. I think they got jobbed. I have more respect for what they did than either LSU or UF. Never said either of those teams were’nt the best overall team in the years they won the MNC. But it’s borderline rediculous to claim that 13-1 when lucking into the game is more of an accomplishment than 13-1 and not lucking into the game. Same conference, same schedule and one team got to play, one didn’t. It’s rediculous to brag on arbritary happenings. And again, THE NCAA DOES NOT AWARD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. What is real, what HAS been won on the field are games played and SEC Championships. Georgia has won over 700 ballgames, Florida has not. UGA has won 12 SEC Championships, Florida has won 7. Georgia won last years game and leads the overall series by double digit games. Which, AGAIN, is why is laughable to see nonsense like “UF is used to playing for championships, when is the last time UGA won MNC” bogus nonsense when Florida has NEVER gone undefeated, has a losing record to Georgia, and is generally less accomplished in every measure of success. Further, UGA finished #2 in the country last year, Florida finished with an embarressing loss to Michigan. UGA didn’t ask to play Hawaii, they just did all they could do and beat the brakes off of an inferior team. Did Florida do the same vs Michigan?

What about the fact that Tebow was sacked 6 times and Georgia scoring at will, with the same teams returning next year suggests UF is going to suddenly get it together and beat UGA? They had 3.5 quarters to do something about it. UGA ran the ball at will. Tebow doesn’t play defense. He’s a great kid, but he doesn’t play defense. UGA played the 04 without the SEC Championship MVP and made it a much more competitive game than last year. I didn’t hear near the complaining about that that I do the excuses of Tebow being hurt. Was he hurt when they lost to unranked Auburn at home, how bout to LSU, how bout to the THIRD PLACED TEAM IN THE BIG 10?

The real story is what Tebow said, how he said it, and the fact that he presumably said it unrehearsed and under media pressure, where one misspoken or misinterpreted word is instantly zapped around cyberspace, diced and sliced nine ways to Sunday. To show this kind of level-headedness, poise and maturity speaks volumes about this young man and the parents who raised him. No matter which team you support, any decent person anywhere has to admire Tebow’s comments and the way he handled this. He could have easily taken the low road and spoken bad about CMR and the Dawgs, but he didn’t. This fellow has his head on right, and I appreciate him for that. We need more like him in college football and the world. Look for great things on a national or international scale for Tim Tebow in the future. Here are his words:

“I think it will definitely intensify it that much more,” Tebow said. “I think it will be a very big game, to say the least. It could be two of the best teams in the country playing for the right to play in the SEC championship and maybe for the national championship. They’re a huge rival of ours, and I think that just increased that much more this past year. I think that will inspire us that much more.

“As far the touchdown dance in the end zone, it didn’t do anything but fire me up. I wasn’t upset or anything. It was a good call by Coach [Mark] Richt because that changed their season. It gave their players a spark and some energy and something to be passionate about. Whether it was right or wrong is not up to me to say. Good for them.”

Congratulations, young man, and keep up the good attitude. Maybe it will rub off on some of these rabid, radical, irrational, irascible and irritable Dawg and Gator fans. You are already a leader, Tim Tebow. I want you in my foxhole when we go to battle.

How can UF fans call UGA fans renecks? Have any of you people ever actually been to Gainesville? I live in Florida, and I have to say that the city of Athens is 1000x better than Gainesville. Gainesville is a miserable city, loaded top to bottom with renecks, and is probably one of the ugliest cities in America. The only things there worth anything are the athletic stadiums that are rich with tradition. I attended neither UF nor UGA, so I have no problem saying that athletically, I admire both schools, but as far as the redneck comments, pretty sure Gainesville might top the nation in that category. At least you are top in the nation in something.

UF is going to beat UGA like a drum this year. Bad move last year CMR, bad move. You don’t give a team that beats you on a regular basis this kind of locker room material. It has the same effect as one of the guys on the PGA tour calling out Tiger.

UGAy caught Florida in a year that they only had 2 starters returning. That is in the past and another streak of Gator victories will start. Richt is still 2-5 against Florida and since 1950, Florida leads the series.

Hey Mark, getting flagged for excessive illegal procedure penalties has nothing to do with acting like you won the super bowl after scoring a TD in the 1st quarter of a regular season game. And I love how you imply that Meyer reversed his stance on a playoff after UF got in the NC game in 06. Um, last I checked, Meyer and the UF administration was leading the charge along with the rest of the SEC for a playoff. I even remember him saying at the time that the system worked for UF but that a playoff was the way to go. That quote had to be taken out of context. UF has been one of the most vocal playoff advocates since the Spurrier days. Do you really think the series is reversed because of that incident and the W? UGA’s season turned around, I’ll give you that. But I’ve heard before that the series will shift after UGA won and UF proceeded to win the next 7. It takes more than 3 wins in 17 tries to break a trend. It’s really sad how blantantly biased the Atlanta media is. Even sadder that their jounalists can’t get their facts right.

Hey leg humpers (and kissup Bradley), win two in a row before declaring the celebration changed the series. Wasn’t it you Bradley who after GA won the SEC for the first time in 20 years in 2002 you declared them a dynasty? Pathetic.

By Uncle Dave

July 24, 2008 12:05 PM | Link to this

Personally, I am very surprised that Meyer is talking about this a year later. Maybe he really was distracted by the celebration.. and if so, he has a little bit a growing up to do. There was always an intelligence behind the gamesmanship that Spurrier espoused. Meyer, in contrast, seems to lack that kind of an edge. He could take a lesson from his quarterback.

If both teams are still in the hunt for the championship and if Georgia comes back from Baton Rouge in relatively good health, then this game will be the most anticipated contest ever played between the two schools. The pressure will be enormous and Jacksonville will be white hot with the energy of the moment.

You can be sure that being able to keep that energy and maintain execution while retaining sound fundamentals will win the game…. neither team is going win by being more emotional than the other… not this time. Meyer needs to be careful. You can bet Mark Richt will be.

Mike,

UGA has Total 35 National Championships Florida has Total 28 National Championships

UGA has 5 MNC, 2 Consensus in Football UF has 3 MNC, 2 Consensus in Football

UGA has had 3 undefeated seasons Florida has NEVER gone undefeated

UGA has 12 SEC Championships (won on the field and awarded by it’s sanctioning body). Florida has 7. UGA leads the series by a double digit margin.

Georgia has more wins, bowl wins, bowl appearances, all americans, and is more accomplished in generally every other measure of success.

I understand the desire of Florida fans to only talk about records since 1990 because UF was the SEC whipping boy prior to that. And talk about the fact that UGA fans “when one game and talk all this smack” Well, UGA has beaten UF more than vise versa. The only expectation you should have is that UGA will generally beat UF more than UF beats UGA. Florida only wants to talk about RECENT history, until they lose that is. Do you see how utterly rediculous this is?

As an Auburn grad and someone who survived the mauling in Athens last year all I can say is “put up or shut up Urban”. UGA played inspired and more imporantaly emotionally-focused football after the “Celebration” in Jacksonville. They were an athletically dominant team from that point on in the season and even though I don’t care for the antics that UGA displayed in both the Florida and Auburn game, they were effective at firing up the team and the crowd. Like so many have said, if you don’t like it, all you have to do is beat them to shut them up. Auburn didn’t and got embarrassed, thats one to build on but whining about it sure doesn’t help. I hope to dance at Georgia’s expense this year.

When you get done slobbing on Richt’s knob, can you please give us an analysis on your delusion of UGA winning an MNC with an idiot like Stafford taking the snaps? By Greg

July 24, 2008 12:19 PM | Link to this

Georgia did not need the celebration to win that game. Georgia had the better team, and would have won without it. To turn the tide in this series requires more than one game. The last time I checked, Mark Richt’s record against Florida is 2-5, including a 1-2 record against Ron Zook. What I don’t understand is how Mark Richt came out against Georgia celebrating after the game two weeks earlier in Nashville on the “V” in the center of the field while the Vanderbilt players were on the way to the locker room, but orchestrated a way to celebrate in the face of Florida players in the endzone following their first touchdown? The issue of showing up another team by celebrating on their logo usually includes the other team being on the field, most often before the game begins. When a player loses his cool in the heat of the moment and does something unsportsmanlike, it’s understandable, but you don’t expect an entire team to be unsportsmanlike, unless you live in Miami. I lost respect for Mark Richt after that day because I have always considered him a man of integrity. But, it was his decision to make. What gets me is how Georgia fans think he shouldn’t be held accountable for the decision. Accept responsibility and move on. If Florida uses it as motivation before the game, then so be it. However, I do think it’s kind of comical to see all the framed pictures of the “celebration” for sale in Georgia. In Florida, we just have pictures of National Championship celebrations for sale. By the way, what championship did Georgia win last year? I know we didn’t win one, but the way they acted after beating Florida, you would have thought they had. Playing LSU the week before Florida this year will have more to do with the outcome of the Florida-Georgia game than motivation from the “celebration.” Good luck with that schedule, and please do not come up with any excuses after you lose!

Why so upset? I guess you prefer that it be classless, because that’s more convenient for your arguement. I would be among the first to condemn CMR for calling that stunt as it happened, but he didn’t. He is guilty of not being clear about what he wanted them to do, and it got out of hand. I believe he apologized for it as well. But.. If UGA lacking class makes you feel better, then feel free to say what you want and continue to ignore the facts. Mark Richt has continued to be the epitome of class, despite a mistake like the celebration. He has been continually praised for being one of the classiest coaches in all of College Football. But trying to look at it neutral, it did what it was supposed to do.

Now, will it carryover to this year. who knows? somethimes I think, one teams ability to dominate another is more fan hype and media then reality. It was a lose-lose situation, that’s why fans were so dissapointed about the selection. But we set it all aside and said let’s when the sugar bowl, we don’t care who we play!” We did, however dominate a proficient offense — one that would have scored 4 TDs on UF’s Dedense. Yes mark UF did take the lead. Then UGA commenced the SEC lesson on those D-Less Gators.

Tebow was hammered left and right and it was easily the toughest game for him of the year in that regard.

Later that year, UF was slapped stupid by a inferior Michigan team who’s coach was close to being fired before he up and retired.

51-14? Your a tool. Tebow will have a better day than last year thanks to the addition of a decent RB. UF D doesn’t stop the Dawgs and it ends up being closer than last year with both teams scoring under 35points. UGA eeks out a win while I am sitting in my Red and Black on the UF side!

Until The Urban Myth firgures out you need D to win in the SEC consistantly he will continue to get two or three losses a year.

I almost hope Ohio State is in the NC game again this year. Maybe after another SEC dismantles them they will dismiss the entire football team.

Let’s sum it up.

Meyer is absolutely a whiner and crybaby. He’s obviously a good offensive coach and recruiter, but that doesn’t diminish the above personality flsw.

Tim Tebow is a class act. I was very impressed with his comments about the UGA celebration last year. Let’s hope he’s full strength this November so the game will be one for the ages with no excuses.

All the jean-shorted, mullet-headed, gap-toothed, feeble-brained Gator fans need to shut up about the UGA-FL record prior to 2004. UGA fans aren’t bringing up the domination we had prior to that. It’s old news and completely irrelevant and all it is “is whistling through the graveyard”.

Y’all make it sound like this is the only game that is going to be played this year.

There are pictures of the celebration and the score in every Gaytors locker. This is their motivation for the season. All games lead to Jacksonville on Nov. 1. Barring any hiccups for either team, the game could have SEC and National Title implications. Each team only has one week to get ready. Georgia had 2 last year. The Pound Puppies will be coming back from a bloodbath in Baton Rouge and Urban Crier will have just finshed a bubblebath with UK.

Was what Richt did Bush league? Yeah pretty much so and totally out of character, but it had the necessary effect as the lizards of Gainesville could never recover.

The past is the past. One win does not constitute a new streak beginning. UGAy needs to run off about 3 or 4 more wins to say the tide has turned.

By the way Mark Bradley, there is a big difference in what Richt told the Chihuahuas to do and Florida being the most penalized team in the SEC. Richt told his players to commit a penalty! There is no way you make me think that the Town Crier of Gainesville told his players to commit all those penalties. Weren’t you supposed to be in that group that got furlowed last week? I guess it wouldn’t matter if you did get fired as you will still be on UGA’s payroll as a paid butt kisser.

One game at a time. Before either team can look at Nov. 1st and what is on the line, they need to look at all the other games. Especially UGAy!

I’ve seen numerous pro players with tears after the loss of an important game as well as many bull dogs crying after getting a buttwhuppin’ at the cocktail party, it means they care. In fact review the bulldog West Virginia bowl game where the dogs were sodomized by the Mountaineers and you’ll see a lot of crying.

As far as last years loss to the bulldogs, I’ll take that loss and the 4 national championships (bulldog count criteria where the Gators get to count 1984 and 1985) or 2 real championships since the bull dogs last one in 1980, to the to the bank any day.

Another example why any “fairness doctrine” the Polousey-Taxocrats in congress try to pass to control/limit mediabias of talk radio because that’s the only national media not controlled by the Taxocrats would need to include all TV networks, newspapers, magazines, as well as the Urinal and Constipation biased sportspage!

In hindsight, Richt says celebration was wrong

July 24, 2008 10:31 AM

Posted by ESPN.com’s Chris Low

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Georgia coach Mark Richt just finished addressing the media, and among the highlights, he apologized for the way the Bulldogs’ celebration after the first touchdown against Florida last season went down.

He said he was “in shock” when he saw his whole team out there and added, “In hindsight, I shouldn’t have done it and won’t do anything like that again.” Richt said he called Florida coach Urban Meyer that Sunday to apologize.

I’ll have more on celebration-gate later on, so check back. The bottom line is that Richt got results. The Bulldogs’ season changed on that touchdown and ensuing dance party in the Gators’ end zone … even if it was unsportsmanlike.

It never ceases to amaze me that all of these non-DAWGS come on here to try and berate our team and hate on us. If you hate UGA so much then why do you waste your time reading the articles about UGA? Go read the articles about GT. Oh, that’s right, there are no articles about GT. They are currently irrelevant. Go read the articles about So. Car. Oh wait, this is an Atlanta paper. There are no articles about So. Car. Go read the articles about UF. Never mind.

The point is, if the only thing you can do to feel better about yourself or your team is to take ridiculous and often untrue potshots at the DAWGS, then you have no life and your team must really suck.

My old HS football coach used to tell us that “if you are not with us then you are against us. Outsiders will be jealous of you because you are a team, you have a common goal, you pull together and they can’t stand that. They will do everything in their power to bring you down to their level. They will gloat when you win and they will exalt when you lose. The only ones who love us is us, so let’s only listen to what we say and ignore them. Only then will they sink back down to the bottom of the ocean like the whale dookey they are.”

By the way thanks Mark Bradley for being a “homer”. Goooo DAWGS!! Woof!

Why must everyone make a big deal out of the Georgia celebration? It was just that, a celebration that was used to get the Dawgs fired up—and it worked.

I live in Florida and watch Gator TV (a.k.a. ESPN), and I find it implorable that Herbstreit could say it was a great move on Saturday and then on Sunday say it was unsportsmanlike!

I find it hypocritical that Gators (Urban, Tebow, etc.) can think that they didn’t exhibit worse sportsmanship last year. Tebow acting like he was texting, Tebow running down the field doing the “Gator Chomp” only to taunt the opponent’s home fans. I actually lived in Jacksonville and can’t stand Tebow’s facade of being such a righteous man. He portrayed some unsportsmanlike behavior last year that made this former college athlete disgusted.

I did not see Stafford exhibit those types of arrogant, unclassy, unsportsmanlike characteristics.

Urban is having to coach while looking over his shoulder. The memory of Steve Spurrier is still in th Gator supporter’s minds and Urban knows if he loses too much like Zook, he will be shown the door.

I bet there is a large faction of Florida people who want Spurrier back from SC to reclaim the glory days.

Urban is a WAC coach who can only cry his way through the SEC. He will be SOL when Zook’s recruits are gone, and may find himself going back to the WAC.

Urban better worry that he doe not lose to Miami in his second game. Then the pressure will REALLY be on to beat FSU.

How can he have the best team in the nation, if he does not have the best team in the state?

Also, someone unexpected is going to sneak up and bite him. I am betting on Mississippi, Arkansas, or Kentucky.

If he is just thinking about UGA, then Urban is too stupid to coach in the SEC.

Is Mark Bradley just stupid or what? Does he really think that Coach Richt changed the dynamic of this series with 1 win. What is he now 2-5 against Florida. And Bradley said Meyer is just ticked that he didn’t think of it first? Is Bradley nuts? What coach would knowingly send his team onto the field for an in your face celebration after the Miami-FIU game that resulted in probably the ugliest scene ever in college football. I kinda thought Richt lost a lot of class when his players stomped on the home team’s logo after beating Vandy of all people? Who the hell celebrates after beating Vandy anyway? And now he lets 2 offensive lineman charged with battey against a pregnant woman to get away scot free with groping preganant woman. WTF???? What the hell is going on with your coach? The only thing he accomplished was to really tick off the gators who’ve manhandled the dawgs 16 out of 19. Whatever Bradley, you big homer. There’s nobody that can deny that if the tables were turned and the Gators did a huge endzone dance party that UGa would not forget about it for a while. Meyer will use it for motivation next year. There’s nothing more to it than that and I think Meyer made that clear. Also you have jumped the gun on Georgia reversing this series. I agree Florida won’t be dominating like they used to, but beating Meyer 1 out of 3 doesn’t mean he’s figured it out.

Hey Mikey, Its not a pot shot at Mark Richt if its true. Losing to Miss. State or even La-Monroe is embarrassing I’ll admit. Kinda like losing to Vandy and Kentucky in the same year. No wonder ya’ll stomped on the Vandy logo. You were a last minute Vandy fumble away from losing 2 in a row to the mighty Dores. See you Sept. 27th. I think our track record in Sanford stadium speaks for itself. I think we’ve won more head to head in Athens then you have. That’s our house. You’re just paying rent.

Wow - the Gator fans are suddenly very concerned with “class.”

They didn’t mind it when their own coach was taking verbal potshots at OTHER teams, or running up the score on a vanquished foe just because he wanted to set a scoring record in that stadium.

They laughed and laughed. Their concerns over the classy, gentlemanly rules of the game of football were very quiet back then. Or they expressed them in the form of howling laughter.

Well, now we are the ones laughing. The more you WHINE, the more we LAUGH.

Please whine some more. They say laughter heals, and I have a bit of a sniffle.

You haven’t beates the Dawgs by more than one score 7 years and counting. Your days of partying on the sidelines late in the 3rd quarter are over.

Practice your little “response.” Unless it takes the form of “not getting steamrolled by Georgia’s offense” then it’s of little consequence.

You’ve tasted anger this offseason. You’re in the first stage. This next offseason, you will taste acceptance. When Georgia once more blows the doors off yuor pathetic defense, you will realize why you lost in 2007, and it had nothing to do with a post-TD celebration.

We won because we destroyed your defense, we treated your QB like a pinata, and you had no answer.

ES, Maybe you’re right. Maybe Richt didn’t order his players onto the field against Florida. I guess that just did that of their own freaking accord. If that’s the case then its obvious he just doesn’t have control over his players. Isn’t that obvious Mr. brick for brains. If they’re stomping on Vandy’s logo I guess he just never taught them basic sportsmanship. Would not also be logically true? Try to follow the logic here. Incidentally, I hear today that 2 of your players aren’t being publically punished for battery against a pregnant woman. Unfreakingbelievable. Say it ain so!

It’s unanimous across the SEC that what Mark Richt and Jawga did is BUSH LEAGUE. Instead of accepting responsibility and moving forward Jawga has decided to attack Florida and Urban Meyer. It’s a typical move from a paranoid crowd in Athens who have an inflated sense of importance in SEC history though 1980 is the only year Jawga won a title. Hey Art, I’m not obsessed with UGA or UF. They are both good programs. Auburn has indeed owned our azzz the last several years. But they can only beat us when we’re down from probation. Other than that its usually pretty one sided and is about to go back to business as usual. I really don’t have anything against UGA or UF. I just like to read the articles and see what fans think. But inevitably some dawg fans always start taking pot shots at Bama when Bama is an indifferent 3rd party like in this article. What can I say. When someone starts busting on Bama for no apparent reason I gotta respond just like you would. Plus its just plain fun to needle the dawg fans when they start their anti-Bama rants. Its all in good fun. What’s funny is that UGA isn’t even a rival to us. Our big rivals are Auburn, Tenn. and LSU. Georgia and UF we are largely indifferent to.

BUT thats not the same as your HEAD COACH bringing it up repeatedly, putting it in a book, and crying about it public a year later to hawk his book. Or trying to misrepresent the intentions, despite knowing differently. Not to mention accepting an apology (that wasnt required) and still suggesting he was owed any more.

You are a fool. Urban Meyer is a good man and a great coach. His record speaks for itself. He is, contrary to your completely biased article, a humble man and a family man who encourages his players to: 1) graduate, and 2) use their time giving back to the community. He leads by example. Coach Meyer and his family, along with some of the Gator staff and their families, spent time this summer on a a missionary trip. I happen to think Richt is a fine human being in his own right and Georgia fans should be glad to have him, but attempting to discredit Urban Meyer only makes you and all other Georgia fans who do so appear foolish.

What SEC team embarrassed itself and the SEC last bowl season? And why? No defense. Urban Meyer better learn you don’t win in the SEC without defense. This ain’t the MWC and Urban Legend Meyer isn’t the best coach in this league by any stretch of the imagination. If his ego is too big to handle getting his butt kicked from time to time he will be miserable in this league. He will never be the center of attention that he thinks he deserves to be. Did anyone notice that at the Heisman awards Tebow was lucky to get his hands on his own trophy? Meyer grabbed it like he won it. Of course Urban hasn’t learned yet that there is no I in TEAM. At least Mark Richt took it to heart when Tommy Tuberville told him he’d never win in the SEC if he couldn’t run the football. Meyer won’t win without defense. Of course nobody can tell Urban squat. He’s that kind of guy.

It was obvious that he finds the hype extremely humorous that Urban is making such a big deal out of this 9 months after the fact. Of course, we all know this is a ploy by Urban to motivate his team. And for those Gator fans who comment about overall records, I believe UGA still owns that, too. We have won 10 more games than UF in the series. Now, go win 10 more and you can talk smack. Yes, he won’t forget and if it helps him to beat UGA next in ‘08, so be it. I know, I know. “Why didn’t UF react in the ‘07 game?” We did. It wasn’t good enough and UGA won. The shucking and jiving crap isn’t why they won. They were better. BUT KNOW THIS: You wanna talk double standard? Georgia pulls a stunt like taunting UF and their fans DURING the game by the WHOLE team planned or not and you’re writing crap about how unfair it is that UF chooses to hold a grudge about IT. To hell with that. Remember 1992? About three or four UF players taunted the UGA fans after a 26-24 victory hold Garrison Hearst to 41 yards. This by the way was not the suggestion of Steve Spurrier. This was done AFTER the game. No less classless but all I heard was just how classless UF was for doing that by whiney a$$ Dawg fans. So UGA pulls the same kind of crap DURING a game and we are all supposed to say, “Gee, that isn’t classless. It is just a stroke of genius”? BULL F”ING SH-T!!!

A book and now more whining? I think the man knows he’s about to have a crappy season.

All Meyer and the gators can think about is how they were whacked last year by 12 pts. This and their over zealous braggadoccio confirms UF is afraid they’re in trouble this season.

I am just happy to see that Dawg fans are talking again. Lord knows it’s been a long time since they’ve had something to cheer about. If I were a Dawg fan, I would not get too excited though….you have only one a few over the past seventeen meetings. That does not exactly constitute a rivalry in my mind. Go Gators!

    Southern Cross Gator,

It really is nice to see that you guys aren’t letting this celebration thing get to you. I mean we put the bait out there and you guys are just too smart to take it. I mean if we could only get y’all cursing on blogs and making vieled threats in books then we’d know that we got to you. I guess you are too level headed.

I’m also certain that your team will not be uptight at all because they are not concerned that they will never be forgiven by you fans if they get whipped once again.

I thought at the time that it was a good tactic, but I guess it just didn’t work at all.

I have it on good authority that Richt also considered having our guys have sex with your team’s girlfriends (their lack of discretion having been established via the association with your players) and then send them the videotapes before the game but it was called off when they got a look at them. They are some nasty little lizard w*******, but thats enough about your mom…for now.

It was then decided that just pounding the azzes of the entire Gator Nation for 60 minutes, while showing how much we were enjoying it, was sufficiently satisfying for all involved…and you can still hear the squealing.

It’s funny that Dawg fans think their team’s stupid stunt was a great moment in Georgia history, when in fact it was truly pathetic.

My first thought after seeing your players trot out onto the field was: “How pathetic is that! They’re so desperate for a win that they’ll try anything!” You won because your team exploited our weak secondary, not because of your orchestrated dance in the end zone.

Now, you’re so desperate to see the Dawgs gain the upper hand in the series that you’re claiming that this one stupid stunt has “changed the entire dynamics of the series”, as if talent, experience and coaching are no longer relevant. How pathetic is that?

Ok, why is there a book being written about Urban Meyer? I don’t think he has garnered enough respect or had a tremendous career in order to warrant having an autobiography written. Mark Richt has much more character and is an overall better coach than Meyer is. I can’t believe Meyer is still re-hashing this minor incident from almost a year ago. I think he is making a mockery of UF football. I believe that UGA will dominate UF again this season as well. My bets are UGA 49 UF 14. I think the UF dominance of the last decade or so is now officially coming to an end. UGA will continue to strengthen it’s program while UF loses recruits because of Meyer and his lack of character.

I fully acknowledge UGA leads the series. By the way, where in the hell did you get 6 ties? Try 2. Also, 1984 was indeed a shutout but not how you remember it. UF drilled UGA 27-0. That said, I don’t give a damn about the wins they had over UF when they wore leather helmets. I wasn’t alive. (I’m 41) UF does lead the series since 1940. It was between 1915 and 1939 where UGA really built a big lead. UF only won like 3 times in those years. Ok Georgia, there. I said it but I just can’t bring myself to be bothered by losses to UGA that happened about the time my Father who would be 81 this year if he were still with us was in grade school. I’ll tell you what else…The kids who play for both teams don’t give two sh-ts about what went on before color tv. The kids on both rosters for as long as they can remember watching football are only old enough to remember UGA getting plastered by UF more often than not.

    Hold Everything People!

Nothing like Florida/Georgia talk of any kind to get folks all worked up. Lets talk about last year for a second:

Richt’s celebration was smart. His team needed it and he pulled out all the stops. I surely don’t respect him any less for the move. I think it was wiley.

Florida lost the game because our defense was unable to make Georgia punt. That is generally a bad thing for a football team. Georgia was the better team. If the defense is not significantly improved this year, we will be in trouble again.

Tebow played a heck of a game considering he was under severe pressure and hurt more than a little. Florida did score 30 on Georgia’s “vaunted” defense so I wouldn’t talk to much crap if I were a bulldawg fan.

As far as the overall head to head records. Lets take it by era’s. And remember the more recent the era, the more important. That’s the way life works: Anything before the 70’s doesn’t count (and Florida won more in the 50’s and 60’s)

    70’s-Georgia 80’s-Georgia 90’s-Florida 2000-present-Florida

Where would you rather have your team listed? That should answer all questions about who is currently on top.

Its my favorite game and this year should be a barn-burner!

    Go Gators!

Urb, I can’t believe this is you after all the expense the character scrubbing media at FU went through in early summer to make you presentable this fall. How dense can you be?

Meyer had just led UF to the national championship. So Buddy Martin, a sportswriter who has written several books about the Gators, decided to write another about Meyer, with an emphasis on the 2007 season following the championship.

The Dawgs’ pathetic stunt occurred during the 2007 season. That’s why it’s mentioned in the book.

    Do you understand now?

As for Meyer “whining” about the incident, Dawg fans should know a thing or two about whining. It was only a few months ago that Dawg fans were whining and soiling themselves about not being in the BCS title game, even though the pups didn’t even win the SEC East.

    How pathetic is that?

WOW, “Swami thetruth”, thanks for the enlightenment on how to act like a relevant program. What you fail to realize is that the only difference between UF’s 13-1, LSU’s 13-1 and 12-2 NC and UGA’s 13-1, 11-2 (couple of times, AND Auburn’s 13-0) is that the former two were fortunate enough to still have a chance at the BCS NC. Just a little conference bias from the SEC brethren of coaches and the SEC could very reasonably could have at least 2 more NC’s to an already estimable haul for the new millenia so far. CMR’s record over 7 seasons is a good mark to judge Urban Crier’s next five (presumably) at UF. So far, Urb’s already got two 4-loss seasons out of three. Granted, he got an NC (with another coach’s players), but I’m just saying…respect your opponents in this conference. That means everybody. I’ll say it again: if an SEC school gets through their schedule undefeated or with even 1 loss to a worthy opponent they should be playing for the NC. EVERY YEAR it may happen. Some schools may have earned that distinction, but no other CONFERENCE can make that kind of claim, AND back it up. So, thetruth, you can put that in your ditty bag.

    DisneyDawg,

I agree with your last comment about SEC teams getting into the BCS title game. But, give credit where credit is due.

The Gators demolition of #1 ranked, undefeated Ohio State (40-14) in the BCS title game two years ago will help future SEC teams get into the title game. It probably helped LSU get into the game with two losses.

The chances of a 0 loss or 1 loss SEC team being left out is less likely now, since first UF and then LSU blasted Ohio State teams with better won-loss records.

    July 25, 2008 4:58 AM | Link to this

I’m all for the betterment of our conference, albeit with my own selfish motives for UGA. I’m willing to say that LSU over OU in the Sugar Bowl was what got others in America to dispense with their typical geographical bias and see that the SEC was indeed a conference to be reckoned EVERY year. And UF and UT laid the groundwork in the 90’s. My point was to keep others (who are vehemently anti-UGA) in perspective with respect to their dismissal that UGA needs to “do something”; but for the whims of a few voters, those records for UA and UGA might be NC seasons.

Check these numbers for THE OSU: Opponent W-L-T record Chicago 10-2-2 Illinois 60-30-4 Indiana 65-12-5 Iowa 44-14-3 Michigan 41-57-6 Michigan State 26-12-0 Minnesota 40-7-0 Northwestern 58-14-1 Penn State 12-11-0 Purdue 36-12-2 Wisconsin 51-17-5 TOTAL 443-188-28

Take into account that, between them, Michigan and OSU have 74 conference championships or co-championships; the rest of the Big 10 combined has only 88. Then take into account the very undistinguished 0-9 SEC bowl game yoke that is their’s to wear, and you can easily see that the Big 10 in general and OSU in particular more or less blows when it comes to true competition.

Just happened to be surfing channels yesterday and caught Jim Rome talking about the “celebration”. He launched into this diatribe as to how UF has better talent, better coaching, and better game planning than UGA and predicted that UF will beat UGA badly this year. For the life of me I can’t figure out what draws these guys to some of these conclusions. Urban Meyer has lost more SEC road games in 3 years at UF than Richt has in 7. He was thoroughly outcoached and out game planned last year. UF has no defense this year. If I were Coach Richt I would get a copy of that tape and make sure everyone, coaches, players, see it. This delusional Urban mania is certainly unfathomable. The guy has an NC with another coaches players, has a Heisman Trophy winner at QB and he loses 4 games last year. Some of them in spectacular fashion. Does this just prove that flash outstrips substance? Maybe someone needs to remind Jim Rome that UGA has the 2nd winningest program this decade, 1 behind Southern Cal. There are better coached in the SEC than Urban Meyer. Quite a few of them. I guess self promotion rules, huh guys?

    MC,

Meyer is making a loud noise now to fire up his players using their hatred for UGA going into their first game against the dreaded team from Hawaii.

This is what a coach does when he knows his team has problems. The gators will have 2 to 4 losses before they even play The Dawgs. UT (with all their problems this year) and LSU will clobber the gators. My guess is one or more upsets from Miami, Arkansas or UK will happen as well.

Living in Florida I have UF friends - they are not looking forward to winning games this season - they’re afraid of losing them.

We know that FLA DAWG. But what explains comments like Jim Rome’s. Having a sports show you would think that some of these guys actually have some knowledge of the topic they talk about. When Jim Rome makes a comment like that he obviously is ignoring facts that are staring him square in the face. Based on the relative merits of both teams this year there is nothing that would indicate UF has the ability to beat UGA as badly as Rome suggests they will. They have a great offense…maybe. We have a great defense. Nothing would indicate that UF has the ability to beat UGA badly.

Shameless self promotion, at that. This guy hasn’t seen a situation he can’t milk for attention. But I said when he first took the job that the bells-and-whistles style he has will be exposed in time. Eventually, Heisman Trophies will mean nothing as Urban Crier finds these multiple loss seasons to be the rule and not the exception. In fact, 3-5 loss seasons happen more often than not at UF since 2001.

    I couldn’t agree more MC.

    Therefore there are only three possible explanations;

  • He knows nothing of college football.
  • He intentionally makes these comments to incite fire under The Dawg Nation.
  • Both
  • My guess is number 3.

MC, I heard Rome’s radio show last year when he was ripping on UGA for the end of the Vandy game. This guy just has a serious problem with the Dawgs. You should have heard the drivel coming out of Rome’s mouth. In the same show he was lavishing praise on the Buckeyes and Tressel’s program. Didn’t dawn on the a**hole that the records for CMR and for Tressel are almost IDENTICAL. Biased ‘tard…I don’t usually go after people on a personal level, but when a guy like this uses his show as a bully pulpit spewing anti-UGA venom like he does, without any real knowledge or facts to back him up, I’ll make an exception.

Right… And how many of those UF penalties were premeditated?!? None. It both teams had gotten into a brawl would it be so great ??

Never mind the fact that every apology Richt has made was insincere.

I can’t stand to read Mark Bradley’s articles and this one is no exception. But since I want to throw up I decided to open this article up and read it and it worked again, I puked. One game does not change a series. The GA vs FL game is always a classic and a toss up as to who will win. I don’t know why Coach Meyer is making such a big deal over that incident last year. They celebrated, they won the game and it is what it is. As a loyal Florida fan here is what I hope. I hope that Florida is more concerned and focused on improving our defense than that celebration crap because that celebration has nothing to do with this years game. Go Gators

I really don’t think that any gator fan really needs to toss out the ol’ “what if our guys had started throwing punches?” That question says a lot about your respect for your team discipline. Well your guys would have been tossed out, thats what. Our guys got what they deserved, penalties by rule. They certainly were not throwing pucnches, why would your players?

BTW several years ago that would have been called a simple delay of game. That whole penaltiy called unsportsman for celebrating has only come about in recent years. I dont rememebr any gator fan disgusted by the chest bump from the Vandy player that got called (the same penalty). I suspect the difference is that one saved your butt, and this one handed it to you. Get over it drama queen!

I just heard Lee Corso on 680 the Fan. Bear in mind that it is hard to tell where he standz when it comes to UGA. Runs hot and cold. What he said was this. That Mark Richt apologized to Urban Meyer about the celebration immediately after the game. To Corso that should have been the end of it. He went on to say that it’s not the celebration that still rankles Meyer it is the simple fact that he got beat. Not just beat but humiliated. That UF was beaten physically and mentally and it ruined their season. That he says is what has Meyer upset, ie the guy is acting like a spoiled brat. He went to say in addition that UF has become a finesse team that when punched in the mouth physically will get beat. Don’t try to out finesse them, beat them up physically and they lose. Finally someone has had the nerve to tell the obvious truth about Urban Meyer’s pettiness and thin skin. Does this guy expect teams to roll over for him? The SEC is a physical conference. Teams in this league will punch him in the mouth. Is Urban waking up to the realization that just maybe his history of relying on finesse won’t work in this leagye. That he is going to lose games. That the mighty self promoting Urban Meyer is going to take some licks and beatings. Folks I predict Urban Meyer will do a Petrino. His huge ego won’t be able to take what teams in this league are capable of doing to it. UF fans are going to see that they should have hired a smash mouth coach for a smash mouth league. Maybe this very year.

Good analysis of Corso’s comments and of Meyer’s team.

Auburn and LSU both beat UF that way - though by close scores. The Dawgs smashed through their lines like a tank through wet paper. Six sacks on Tebow. The 12 point margin doesn’t even reflect how badly we beat them. Man, we really cleaned their clock!

I’ve never remembered a coach going out of his way to hold a grudge like this in public… he’s due for a nice setup in focusing his energy on tje Dawgs. I’m quite sure the other opponents of UF will be appreciative of the distraction…. and lack of focus… you just don’t overlook teams in the SEC… Hell, don’t overlook Miami! THey aren’t the Miami of old, but they can still hold their own. Urban Meyer has less maturity than his QB.

    By CHARLOTTE DAWG

    July 26, 2008 10:39 AM | Link to this

What all you cry babies and idiots don’t realize is that Richt wanted to generate enthusiasm with his team that was extremely lacking by “ordering” the players on the field to get a penalty. I don’t believe he intended for the entire team to rush the endzone. Thugs! Idiots! yes, we have them. Every SEC program does. But Richt’s smarter than ordering the entire team out there. He might have had to play WR to finish the game since his players could have been ejected. He’s smarter than that. Better than that. It was the players that acted like idiots. And for that, Richt should have been steemed. But maybe he let it go since he wasn’t clear. And he couldn’t show disgust since that would have sent the team in disarray with mixed messages.

Bottome Line: FLORIDA HAS OWNED US THE LAST TWO DECADES. WE HAD TO DO SOMETHING. THE 1997 AND 2004 WINS MUST HAVE BEEN DEVINE INTERVENTION B/C I’VE ALWAYS SEEN A TEAM SCARED OUT THERE. SOMETHING HAD TO GIVE. THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON. THIS COULD TURN IT AROUND. OR IT COULD HORRIBLY BACKFIRE. WE’LL SEE.

My guess is that it won’t be the talk of the town when we all see each other in Jax. Lots of other bitter rivals for each team will have been faced by then. Now, there is just a lot of free time on everyone’s hands to spout off. I promise you Florida fans, end zone stunt or not, Georgia players hate Gator players just as much. It will be a war. And the UGA players adore Richt and support him in everything. The more Urban Crier wines and runs his mouth, the more it will upset Richt and the more it will upset UGA players. The only thing UGA players should be scared about is loosing an important game and not stopping the potent offense Florida should have. But we are not scared of retribution or a blow out. Both teams are just too good. Your offense might be something of legends but last I checked, our D(at the moment) is pretty nasty. Everyone should just get ready.

I really wouldn’t take to the “Georgia’s gonna destroy florida” etc etc. biz. Lets see… at Baton Rouge before you come to J-ville, huge game with LSU under the lights then Florida the next week? While Florida plays a pathetic UK at home the week before? If healthy and Florida doesn’t lose anymore safeties, Florida should have a pretty lopsided victory? WHAT??? And alot of dawg fans start cussing. Lets be honest, Florida was playing with a 75% tebow, no riley cooper, no Trautwein, Pouncey, Wright was playing with a broken had, Spikes with a sprained wrist, no bubba caldwell, With revenge on there mind and a healthy team Florida will wear down and beat UGA to the tune of around 41-24. Bradley… wow, he should write blogs for Athens. This is a ridiculously bias piece. I couldn’t imagine the Jacksonville times union (about the same distance to Gainesville at ATL is to athens) writing such a I LOVE RICHT piece. Ga will defeat Fl this year again. Fl’s starting defense(according to rivals) features 8…count them 8 sophmores. They have a good core of LB’s but little if anything other than that. Ga will have there way with them.

On the other side of the ball. No doubt..Fl has a great offense. But Ga’s defense is solid and very sound throughout. Fl will struggle at times and will not be able to keep up and score as many points as Ga will.

Look for another similar style game to last year. Ga wins 41-24.

Those Georgia Bulldogs are a bunch of meanies. Don’t they know that WE are supposed to win every year? And to celebrate excessively after a touchdown! The whole world saw my team get out-motivated. They saw me get outcoached. The hurt feelings still linger. WAAAAAAAAAA

Though I am not a Gator fan, I agree with Urban on this one; what Mark Richt had (yes, I believe that CMR designed it - because if he didn’t - as he claims he didn’t - then he has NO control over his team) his players do was totally disrespectful and in bad taste - particularly coming from a man who seems (that is the key word “seems”) to set high morals, principals, and standards. I was so shock when I saw that that I decided that day that I would not nor could not ever pull for UGA again - though I usually did. Coach Mark Richt knew what he was doing - the same as allowing his players to stomp on opposing teams 50 yard line at their home stadium. HE is not even Man Enough to discipline his players when they are arrested. So much for CMRs professed beliefs - he and his football team has lost my respect - which I’m sure with his multimillion dollar contracts he could care less what I (or others) think about him.

saywhat-tebow who didnt have a prob with the dance, and is just a few years past puberty. nor half the gator fans have a problem with the dance.i guess urban crier, you, and a few kids{who never reached puberty}have a problem with the dance.most uf fans are more concerned about the butt whooping to even care to dwell on the dance.maybe in the future well make a movie about it.naaah marks not that tacky.but say what is.i could care less what a techie/gator fan thinks about any of this.we dont need lil kids like you running your mouth.go join the military, put some time in iraq or afganistan, then come back with some backbone and then maybe me and others will know what you say or going to say will be from the mind of a adult.

As a huge seminole fan, who enjoys a good college football game whoever it may be, last years UG-UF game was one of the most exciting games of the year! The icing on top was to see Urbie crying with Tebuff saying there…there!!!!

How dare the dawgs show us up on National TV….. No one does that to the mighty Gaytors…..

P.S. Mark Richt(We definitely miss you) being a former seminole, you have continued your dominance of the CROC!!!!!!

uf has been losers most of there waking moments-ranked 17 times in 104 yrs.no sec titles till 91’7 total, pretty pathetic to me.who’s harvin?if he’s so great why did teboy have to do all the running?the winning tradition was over when the spurior dynasty crumbled when he left.dont count zook,uf hated him before he even started coaching for uf.urban meyer-cried about michigan till he got to play ohio, then beat by michigan the next year.even a blind squirrel finds a nut by luck not skill.41-24 sounds like the uga/usc game score to me.

Until UGAY wins a National Championship, SHUT IT UP!

That lack of control and lack of sportsmanship that was displayed last Nov will come back to haunt GA!

Hopefully, SC will repay the favor this year since Spurrier hates GA as well!

GA lost to UT & SC which both lost to FL, and still GA can’t win the SEC nor a national championship!

call it like it is-ok gay boy- georgia has 5 nat titles/12 sec titles/15 shutouts of uf for 492 points to uf’s 5 shutouts for 112 points uf has been ranked 17 times in 104 yrs.georgia has two collegiate titles, before nt’s came out.georgia has two sec titles this decade alone.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,make this marine shut up momma,s boy.the marines chose the bulldog for our mascot cause the dawg has fighting spirit while a gator has a cowardly spirit.the gators are losers that why we chose the bulldawg son.are ya’ll are still mad cause we whooped your a**in front of your momma on espn,it has nothing to do with our li’l dance cause if it did ya’ll would have done something about it in the 2nd/3rd/4th qtr.im not gonna hold my breath waiting for uf to try and get even with georgia cause it wont happen for the next two years.last but not least, last year is past history but georgia cleaning uf’s clock again is coming soon, that was part one of a 3 part series.sorry michigan whipped ya;lls butt last year but urban crier told the bcs committie that uf was a better team than michigan in 06 and uf should be playing ohio, then michigan showed ya’ll who really was better by two touch downs.georgia beat michigan when we played them 15-7/michigan state 27-georgia 34.hmmmm

Yeah. Nice article dude. Sounds like you’re pretty confident Georgia “won’t roll over and die”. Well, I bet you feel stupid now!! Looks like you were wrong. Urban Meyer got his way Saturday, and there was nothing your lousy lay down and die dawgs could do about it.

A cowardly and disrespectful action got noticed and dealt with. And in case you forgot…. timeout…. let it sink in….timeout….you getting the point yet?

All you guys just need to shutup! I am sorry who won on Saturday?? The score was 49-10! The Gators could of put 60 points up on the dawgs!

But hey 3 out of 19!!! UGA is like the Michigan of the SEC. O btw, who was accountable for 5TD’s, of those had 3 rushing and 2 passing! Broke Emmit Smith’s record and only sacked once!

Sacky Matty had 0 TD passes, sacked three times and 3 INTERCEPTIONS!!! OMG!

You can’t look at long past history of the rivalry, only the recent history of these two coaches. Meyer has already done more in half the time than Richt will EVER do at Georgia. He was a second rate quarterback in college and is a second rate coach in college. You can boast about your occasional small win against Florida like last year but it will always be out shined over and over by an outright domination of Georgia.
