This continual cycle of “I’m in charge now and we’ll do things MY way” has to cease. This is what has become famously known as ‘politics as usual’. Well, these are unusual times, and we do not need idiots and incompetents throwing away our grandchildren’s futures just to make political points.

We just threw out idiots and incompetents. Is this “change” just replacing them with a whole new set of idiots and incompetents?

Since this is a free swim, I’m going to comment on Wooten’s Friday blog: these octuplets.

This has raised an enormous bioethic debate. And I think it’s impossible for anyone to say exactly for certain how they feel about this.

I disagree with Mr. Wooten’s argument that he doesn’t like this because this woman is single and there is not a father in the picture - plenty of single woman raise very wonderful, functional children. That’s not my beef with this.

For one, yes, children are great, and these children have every right in the world to have a happy life.

But, I think this woman is bat sh!t. I think this is totally irresponsible on her account and the doctors’ account. Couldn’t she have thought for one minute about the quality of life these children will have? Okay, maybe when she wanted the remaining embryos to be implanted she never dreamed that eight babies would be born.

How is she going to take care of these children? Not just financially, but emotionally.

There is the debate of whose going to pay for these children, but can this woman actually care for these children without assistance? No, she can’t, and why would she put her children in this position?

Does she think for one minute that she will be able to spend individualized attention to each of these children? If she does, then she is a super woman and more power to her.

I know a couple of families that have lots of children, and in both cases the older children could not wait to go to college for the sole purpose because they were tired of caring for the younger ones.

She will most likely never be able to work again, at least until these children are in college, and what now?

I’ve never believed in invitro fertilization - I think that is playing God, and I don’t believe in it in any circumstances. If you want children and can’t conceive, there could be a reason for that, but there are plenty of children already here that need care and good parents. Adopt, not invitro fertilization.

This is all rather mind-boggling to me.

Well, I don’t know what a free swim is unless it’s a librul columnist’s way of saying he’s too lazy to write something but his bloggers can go right on anyway. At least Wooten don’t even pretend. He just don’t write anything on the weekend. I guess that’s what happens when you’re a short-timer.

Anyway, I see somebody’s already jumped in and started slamming the godly Sen. Craig over axidently taking a wide stance and touching somebody’s shoe. It can’t be long before somebody else starts slamming the godly Sen. Vitter over this diaper stuff when anybody can see if you were marryed to a woman that looked like a linebacker from the Green Bay Packers you would be looking someplace else too.

I been watching Fox News to catch up on what’s happening to this stimulation bill. People got to keep butting in on the economy. If they would let everybody loose their job we would be headed back up sooner or later. I say tax cuts for everybody. It may not help people that lost their job but it will sure make me feel better and let me get ready to ride out the depression.

The Rev. Postlewaite had a stem-winder this a.m. down at the Church of Holiness. It was all about Christian love. Anyhow, he spent a lot of time talking about how we got to fight the libruls and other heathens and throw them out of office and put more people in jail. He still ain’t as good as the Rev. Jim Bob Buice was, but the state won’t let the Rev. Jim Bob around kids any more.

Have a good day everybody and pray for the defeat of this stimulation bill so we can have the depression the way God intended. And some people need to stay off of this blog till the meth wears off. I ain’t mentioning any names but they know who they are.

Thank you for that Joni! You are truly a godsend on a Sunday morning in this place full of anger and self-righteousness.

I’ve always loved her music. What a talent.

And along with Carole King, Laura Nyro, Linda Ronstadt, Janis and a bit later Bonnie Raitt and Chrissie Hynde, one of my very favorite early white chicks in folk/rock.

And there were just as many black women from that era that I went out and bought their records too. Maybe even more.

But sadly for the past twenty years, all I’ve seen are no talent arse clowns and d!pstick divas, who couldn’t find middle C on a piano with a diagram, pretending to be in pain, shaking what they got, because they got nothing else and using their voice as if that made up for incredible lousy songs and even worse musicianship.

tcoach,

The only thing I expressed earlier was the fact that I’m uncomfortable with the process of invitro fertilization.

The other was a series of questions that I’ve been pondering since I heard this story.

I’m certainly in the camp for people to have as many children as they want - even if they can not pay for them financially - because some times those who become pregnant do not coincide with financial prosperity - and I’m not a proponent for using abortion as a form of birth control, nor do I personally believe in it, but I’m pro-choice because I can’t possibly know everyone situation, and ultimately that decision is theirs.

What I am questioning is the emotional responsibility this woman has to her children and whether or not she will be able to adequately care for their emotional upbringing herself.

And again, this is something I can’t answer, nor can anyone, because we are not this mother, and bringing up emotionally sound children is relative.

And what about this sperm donor? Where the hell is he, and how does he feel about all this?

The financial part of raising children is a non-issue to me - children should be cared for no matter what.

But, I have found myself having some serious questions going around in my head.

And here’s a class for the philosophy classes, I don’t necessarily believe this, but:

Can you argue this woman has reproductive rights in this situation? Of course it’s her body and she can do with it as she chooses, but where do we draw the line? Or do we?

With the process of invitro fertilization, it is possible for a woman to have dozens - possibly hundreds of children, but is that a good thing?

If you were the CEO of a diaper or formula, or car seat company, would you give this woman free diapers or free car seats when she chose to have this many children? As a business executive, and in today’s climate, I don’t think I would.

As I said earlier, this is just some things I’ve been thinking about and I posted it to see how others felt about it.

Tom Ricks on the Complete Political Failure in Iraq

Tom Ricks is the military correspondent for WaPo..

Ricks has been to Iraq 14 times at length since Spring 2003. He grew up in Afghanistan.

The fiasco is far from over. We’ll still be entrenched in Iraq and Afghanistan when Obama leaves after his second term.

Invasion>Occupation>Insurgency>Civil War

Power equation is unstable. The fiasco has just begun.

Where is power inside Shiite community. What’s the disposition of Kurkuk? How do they share oil revenue?

Sadr’s malitia is analagous to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Nothing in Iraq threatens the US’s safety—but if Pakistan breaks up in the Afghan-Pakistan war we have Islamic extremist with a full complement of nukes.

Had Bush put troops at Tora Bora bin Ladin could have been stopped.

If Bush had dealt with Pakistan and focused on it and not done Iraq we’d be a lot better off.

Indian agression towards Pakistan threaens its stability.

The US has treated NATO allies poorly in Afghanistan and haven’t had a voice under Bush.

There has been a complete lack of emotional connectrion bet. American people and war in Iraq in the last two years and Americans tuned it out.

The war is fought by 1% of the population. Thousands of soldiers have fought for 18-25 months. Bush didn’t lift a finger to ask Americans to join the military once. Of course his daddy shielded him from harm’s way and when Bushie was assigned to reprot for a physical to go to Nam finally, he coked out and boozed out and went AWOL in Alabama.

Just wondering: during the last two years when Democrats presided over Congress, or the six years prior when they didn’t preside but were a considerable minority, does anyone know how often Democrats, as a block, voted against the President’s budget proposal, the House and Senate proposals or the final reconciliation bills?

Sounds to me if you drive the getaway car while someone else is inside robbing the bank, you don’t have much room to complain.

Bosch

That was a thorny issue you raised and one may people shy away from. Easy to be misunderstood or to get a kneejerk “racist” or “sexist” response.

As far as questioning whether or not people should bring kids into the world when they’re not financially ready: I’ll submit there is a difference between a couple attending university or trade school, with a prospect of a healthy financial future, and a teenager still in jr high or high school.

Okay, not “bringing kids into the world” but “bringing in with the intent of keeping.”

How else does one break the generational cycle of poverty if one continues quiet acceptance or encouragement of children having children? BTW – before anyone flings the ‘racist’ label about, this applies regardless of race. Check the stats on out of wedlock birth rates by girls/women in poverty. It’s dismal regardless of race.

Frankly, I hope Pres Obama continues to address this theme. Some may say he’s the exception that proves the point – but an exception he is.

CIA asked for a few hundred troops for a blocking action for OBL. Franks refused - he’d already contracted with (my gosh, Franks outsourced combat operations!) to local warlords - who hosed us.

@@,

This isn’t the first time Jay B has used the “free swim” thing. It must be a regional phrase from a very, very small region.

The Sexually indeterminate thing with the anatomically enlarged adam’s apple or cartilage surrounding its thyroid cartilage that is called “Anne Coulter” is being investigated for the least of its many crimes, voter fraud.

It lives in NYC (also called the Big Apple). Many people call Coulter the Big Apple in the Big Apple.

But it votes in Conneticut. That’s illegal.

A complaint prompted the investigation filed by Coulter Watch

The vision for Coulter Watch would exclude almost all of the Bookman Rethuglican Wingnutters.

“Coulter Watch is a site that promotes the proposition that Conservatism can only endure as a viable and vibrant movement if it maintains a commitment to the core character traits of honor and integrity, honesty and virtue.”

Coulter calls Rethuglicans “idiots” who write books calling other rethuglicans “idiots” and in doing so she trashes a dozen specific thuglicans. So according to the Coulter’s logic, she would classify herself as an “idiot.”

49% of Iraqis did not vote in the midst of what Tom Ricks called on MTP the absolute political failure of “da surge.”

Yesterday an 8 year old girl was killed by the gunfire of an American military convoy when it struck a crowd of Shiite pilgrims traveling to the holy city of Karbala.

Last week 6 raqi farmers were killed.

On CNN’s “Last Word”,John King, CNN’s so-called primetime political anchor, displayed his total ignorance of the rules requiring a Conference Committee. Why the hell should King know? He’s a “political reporter on CNN” and understandnig Congressional Conference committees. It would require reading and reading is hard for anchors.

King prefers using the “Magic Wall” for his info and it doesn’t do Conference Committees.

In marked contrast to the dimwitted Laura Bush, who never discussed legislation in her life or while she lived in the White House, Michelle Obama has begun serving as one of her husband’s chief legislation surrogates, and has planned a visit of every major agency. She is thoroughly qualified as a Harvard law graduate who has been a hospital administrative executive for years.

She addressed HUD last week and gave an analysis of the “stimulus package.”

It is not known at this time whether she could see Russia by peering across Lake Michigan, but soon I’m sure she will make this clear because it should be an absolute gold standard test as to whether someone is qualified to discuss Presidential policy at various agencies.

{{{{GOP’s outcry over deficits disingenuous By Jay Bookman But who do they think they’re fooling? Apparently they believe the world began anew at noon on Jan. 20, and that everything that occurred prior to that date had somehow been wiped clean from the national memory banks.}}}}

Why do you think Bush’s approval rating was at 27%?

And why did Ross Perot get so many votes?

I’ll tell you what, this presidency of baraKKK has totally turned the world upside down, just like you say, who would have ever thought Republicans would return to Conservatism so quickly?

And that you would find a lib arguing against government spending?

Odd, isn’t it?

Why not let those who fail fail (individuals and corporations)?? Why do “we” need to rescue or bail them out??
