The story was supposedly that a freelance journalist in Gaza returned home to find his younger brother dead, the victim of a missile attack on a residential rooftop from an unmanned IDF drone. The video shows the supposed scene of the attack, and follows the Gaza family from the hospital to the burial, after a heroic attempt by doctors to revive the young child.
My son used to always blame the referees when his team lost a soccer game, then one day I told him that the only reason they lost is because the other team scored more goals than they did. That’s it.
But I have to admit the 15 yard penalty that Florida got for excessive celebration was completely absurd. That is the single most ridiculous penalty that has ever been established in all of sports.
The more things change the more they stay the same, huh? And very rock n rolling kid born of a “conservative” knows its always the same - their parents turned out lame.
The great lasting legacy of George W. Bush is that he is the supreme example and leader of an administration that is chock full of liars, cowards, hypocrites and perverts.
And the message that most of us want ot leave our children is that real men in this world don’t think that’s how you succeed in life.
Now that they are nearly out of here, we have to reclaim what our traditional ideals were — you protect the weak, you bear up under horrible burdens and you seek the truth.
“The recording The Verve sampled is a version of the Stones’ 1965 hit “The Last Time” that Oldham recorded for an album called The Rolling Stones Songbook, a collection of symphonic remakes released under the moniker the Andrew Oldham Orchestra.”“[http://www.vh1.com/artists/news/511079/01111999/verve.jhtml]”
I’ve never understood why sampling isn’t a copyright violation. Most bands copyright their performances as well as their words and music. Many even copyright their solos.
Bosch- ESPN, who, by the way, probably knows what they are talking about-
It was intensely played, that’s for sure. But four interceptions — two thrown by Tebow, two by Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford (they had a combined eight INTs for the entire regular season) — isn’t great. Eight Florida penalties (including three false starts by left tackle Phil Trautwein) isn’t great. And let’s not even talk about the ACC officiating crew.
Apparently it is a copyright infringement because the Stones sued them and like I wrote earlier, I don’t think they have ever made one red cent from that song.
But oh, what a great song. It speaks to my soul.
Andy,
So? Referees are part of the game. They are irritating, sure, but necessary. Most good players know how to use them to their advantage.
Corporal,
From earlier thread. Sorry, I don’t believe in hell. My mothers prayers won’t change that, but thanks for your concern and thoughts. My soul is humbled by the song I posted above. I can find “God” in so many weird places, how ‘bout you?
Jay, sucks does not do justice to that song. Try “Fight the Power” by the Isley Bros., It’s got a beat, and the message rings true from one administration to the other, especially to the next.
Hallelujah, I finally sucessfully inserted a link in the 401K thread downstairs. Thanks to @@ for the lesson on links the other day.
I’m just a casual observer of college football but it looked to me last night like Sam Bradford was occasionally confused by all the signals he was getting from the sidelines.
Yes, I did watch the game. It was awesome - best “bowl” game of the season. But referees are just part of the game, and like I said, the most clever players know how to use them to their advantage.
Hillbilly Deluxe,
I think you are right about Bradford. He was making me nervous - he’s a great quarterback though.
Bosch: Football is a game of momentum. Oklahoma’s opening drive was cut short by one of the most obvious pass interferences that I have ever seen. Instead of the score being at least 3-0, if not 7-0, they wound up having to punt, setting the tone for the remainder of the game.
I know a thing or two about games of momentum, believe me. The tone of the game can be changed by sheer will. Good players don’t let bad calls get in their way of playing - in American football they stop after every single play - in my kind of football, you don’t stop for nothing except for the injured to crawl off the field, and even then the clock doesn’t stop. Please don’t lecture me about momentum.
And in my kind of football we don’t wear all that wimpy padding.

Most played song at the 95th Evac….. the Animals, “We gotta get out of this place”. It sure wasn’t banned in our hospital. It was about as frequently played as James Taylor’s, “Fire and Rain”.
Momentum was once a component of science in need of a sport. Then, along came baseball, basketball, football, soccer, hockey, and on and on. Now, the best part, the momentum, is all but neglected at all places except schools that place more emphasis on educating the sports player than playing the uneducated for sport. Just imagine for a moment if enough angular momentum could be imparted to a football such that when caught by the receiver, he promptly completes a full 360-degree somersault as the ball rapidly decelerates within his grip. Now, that’s entertainment at its best. No more of those girly end-zone dances. Leave the dance moves to the cheer leaders.
The more I think about it, American football, in my opinion, has absolutely no momentum to it at all. They stop after every play, they stop the clock for everything - every first down, every time there’s someone hurt, the clock never runs for more than 30 seconds until you stop for a break. Each team gets three time outs per half, it’s maddening.
And they wear all that crazy padding, how can you run around with all that crap holding you down?
I never played American football. You’ve got me there, but can you dispute anything I wrote? Are you saying that the clock doesn’t stop during those times? They stop after every play? What? Enlighten me, I’m bored tonight - I’ve got time here.
Bosch- This all started out with the OU-Fla. BCS Championship game and the referee’s obvious preferential treatment of the Gators. Why now have we descended into the use of a clock?
Yeah, funny how conversations progress. So…….my ignorance of football is based on how I didn’t see that the referees were obviously biased? You, oh champion of context and staying on topic sir.
I could never read a Coulter book. I’d spend the whole time puking my guts up. But thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions. Did Anne Coulter really get her jaw wired shut or is that just wishful thinking?

Coulter did fracture her mandible or someone fractured it for her. She’s been uncharacteristically closed mouthed about how it happened.
She is reported to have fallen (or was pushed) down a flight of stairs. Again she’s been unchracteristically mum when asked exactly what happened.
Coulter has been whining in the same key as Andy—about the large number of losses they suffered, with moron snowbilly now blaming the media for her loss.
One thing consistent with Palin—she takes no responsibility for any of her screwups.
Another thing consistent is that she will never hold federal office in her life.

What an amazing year we had. The complete collapse of conservatism. It’s dead because nobody dares try to define it, or revive it.

*CHICAGO (AP) — The Illinois Supreme Court said Friday that Secretary of State Jesse White’s signature isn’t required to validate Roland Burris’ appointment to the U.S. Senate, lobbing the question of seating him back to Democratic leaders in Washington.
“No further action is required by the Secretary of State or any other official to make the Governor’s appointment of Roland Burris to the United States Senate valid under Illinois law,” Justice Lloyd A. Karmeier wrote for the court in its unanimous decision.
Burris was turned away from the Senate this week in part because his appointment by Gov. Rod Blagojevich lacks White’s signature. White has declined to sign the appointment in the wake of the federal corruption charges against Blagojevich that allege the governor schemed to sell or trade the seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama for personal gain. Blagojevich was impeached Friday.
White has said he would not sign the appointment unless the state Supreme Court forced him to do so. A message seeking comment was left with White’s office Friday.*

That post reads like it came from a “catty female”.
Really, don’t trouble yourself with the cretins - alas, we have to hear the worst of the worst, remember this from earlier today from downstairs:
“They’re not even collateral damage; the children of Gaza of 2009 are just the terrorists of Gaza of 2019. Better to kill them all now before they grow up and kill us people who respect the sanctity of life.”
Sometimes I wish I believed in hell, for those who think such things surely belong there.
Sorry there is such mean and nastiness in the world.
In my experience, the best insights into catty females have come from females, many of them catty girl. So if the shoe fits, and it seems to from what I’ve seen, enjoy wearing it.
I try to ignore the predominantly large number of Right Wing imbeciles here who make racist statements doing their best to represent an ignorant white racist Georgia proud of its ignorance, and proud that it’s best rank in the SATs was this year up from 49 to 46th.
Once in a while I respond—to the ignorant comment where a well functioning family has brought the wife’s mother to live in the White House by someone who would make a fraction of what Obama can earn from one book the entire rest of his life and probably his whole adult life—that’d be Jon.
You seem to fit in well with your ignorant white racists friends—unable to comment about issues substituting that you believe someone is a catty female because they observed that Michelle Obama is great looking, and the rest of the first lady’s look like the back of a barn.
Give it up welcher, she doesn’t swing your way. It’s not even readily apparent whether or not it’s even a “she”, but if it is a “she”, it’s never been seen in the company of a man… maybe she likes little boys, much like yourself…

isn’t it amazing how brave the filthy, cowardly racists are when they spout their bigotry and vile hatred from behind a computer screen…
No more filthy and cowardly than you are spewing your own bigotry and vile hatred from where you sit. I would say that’s the most splendid example I have seen recently of the pot calling the kettle black, but other than the obvious redundancy, I shall abstain.
Forget that the dolt is one of the two biggest scumbags to ever sit in that position. (Still love you Spiro!)
Like his “boss”, he’s an inveterate liar and a total fraud.
But so good that, not only do the dimwitted BushCo apologists give him a free pass for wiping his ample rear end with the US Constitution and getting 4200+ Americans KIA needlessly in a botched invasion and occupation, the “faithful” completely believed all of his prevarications.
No wonder it is likely there are more electoral heartaches ahead for these faux conservative losers who’ve hijacked the GOP.
At one time, you could only get a cold brew in a 12 ounce can. Then, they started putting brew in 16 ounce and 32 ounce containers for the heartier consumers. Of course that trend has now reversed and we find brews packaged in 8 ounce and 4 ounce cans. I say the time has come for real change and unleashing a bunch of little Buds on the world is not change — it’s just more of the same in smaller containers. Just say no to more Bud in any amount. Abstain, Bud. Do it for your fellow man.
524,000 jobs lost in just 1 month!!!! Friday’s report showed how the year-old recession has rippled through the corners of the economy. In December: Service businesses axed 273,000 jobs, including 66,000 from retail.-Michael E Kannel, Urinal/Doom and Gloom.
Taking advantage of the annual temporary holiday sales lay offs, are we?
All for one reason too, to make the economy look as bad as it can so that Oblahmi can be the “hero” that “fixes” it, together with optimistic propaganda from his toadies in the media.
Mayor denies charges of illegal gifts- Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon was indicted Friday on charges that she accepted illegal gifts during her time as mayor and City Council president, including travel, fur coats and gift cards intended for the poor that she allegedly used instead for a holiday shopping spree. A grand jury indicted Dixon on 12 counts, including four counts of perjury and two counts of theft over $500. She was also charged with theft under $500, fraudulent misappropriation by a fiduciary and misconduct in office. “Time will prove that I have done nothing wrong, and I am confident that I will be found innocent of these charges,” she said in a statement. She said she would not resign.-Urinal/DNC
524,000 jobs temporarily lost in December. Right! When the business closes the doors and puts on the padlocks and files the bankruptcy papers, that’s temporary — to an idiot. 524,000 jobs right along with the other 2 million jobs temporarily lost this year. Duh! The most jobs lost in one year since WWII and it’s all because of the Republicans and their lack of intellect, caring, etc. Not to worry though. The Republicans are on their way out and the Democrats with save those Republican’s worthless hides even though they are so worthless. Besides, we’ll increase their taxes to make up for their screw ups. Ha! Ha! Ha!
By Dept of Truth and Justice For Pinkos January 10, 2009 10:11 AM The most jobs lost in one year since WWII and it’s all because of the Republicans and their lack of intellect, caring, etc.
Aahhh, yes, throw goony democrat propaganda at me, that’ll work.
In 1945 there was maybe, oh, I don’t know, 150,000,000 less jobs than there is today, but hey, it sounds good to the weak and lame, don’t it?
The wide array of budget cuts and tax changes President Clinton proposed last night would fundamentally alter the way the Government raises and spends money. He said the aim of the program was to spread the burden of reducing the deficit and improving the economy’s long-term prospects. The tax provisions were spelled out in greater detail than many of the spending goals. All figures are for fiscal years in billions of dollars. NEW TAXES Individual taxes-NY Times, 1993

Have you ever heard me say that MO was unattractive? There are some camera shots where she is, then there are some where she isn’t.
The only comment I’ve EVER made about her is that she doesn’t strike me as a woman who needs to be defended by her husband. I can’t recall that I’ve ever heard her whine
Her husband, on the other hand…….?
Liberal mother hens here and elsewhere seem to think they need to intervene on his behalf. It’s most unbecoming for them and him, but he doesn’t seem to mind. I guess the absence of a male role model has left him wanting.
Hamas, along with other Syrian-based Palestinian militant groups, said Jan. 10 that having international troops or observers in Gaza is not acceptable, The Associated Press reported. In a statement released following a meeting of the militant groups, Hamas demanded that Israel immediately stop its attacks in the Gaza Strip, withdraw its troops from Gaza and open all border crossings.
The Dept does not respond directly to idiots that cannot even differentiate between temporary job losses and permanent job losses. Talk to the hand, end-timer, and have some more kool-aid while you wait. By the way, I have read that there is a welcher trolling amongst the good bloggers. Welchers - Bad. Bad - Welchers. Get the picture, welcher. Welcher’s Grape Drink — the kool-aid of losers. Just ask any of Jim Jone’s followers when you meet up with them.
The leaflets urged Gaza residents not to help Hamas, the Islamic militant group that rules Gaza, and to stay away from its members. The dropping of the leaflets appeared to be partly a psychological tactic.-MyWay/Jihad
Or it could just be an unprecedented humane measure on Israel’s part to try and save innocent lives, know what I mean?
But no, even such acts of compassion are twisted by the rampaging Jihad left to garner sympathy for the cut throat terrorists, even though they would never falsely accuse Israel of any heinous crimes, why no, they ♥ the Jews, yes indeed.
So how am I “welching” on a bet if I use the left’s definition of ♥?
If you look at all the ways they ♥ their country and ♥ the troops, you could actually say that I am flattering Oblahmi.

I wonder why this doesn’t get any attention?
Hamas turn a Gaza neighborhood into a warzone.
This map, confiscated Wednesday (Jan. 7) by IDF paratroopers operating in the north of Gaza, shows how Hamas uses an entire neighborhood, rigging it with explosive devices and putting the entire civilian population at great risk. The map shows the al-Tatraa neighborhood in Gaza City divided into three areas of operation (red, blue and green). The dots on the map indicate where Hamas operatives had planted a variety of IEDs (improvised explosive devices), with the colors indicating the type of IED. At the bottom center of the map there is a gas station where Hamas planted an IED which, if activated, could cause a very large explosion throughout the neighborhood.
An overall study of the map demonstrates how Hamas deliberately uses civilians, using them as live targets and hiding behind them; they plant IEDs at the enterances of homes, they booby trap homes and they use places of worship, all with no regard to collateral damage or civilian lives.

If this isn’t fake I don’t know what is-
The story was supposedly that a freelance journalist in Gaza returned home to find his younger brother dead, the victim of a missile attack on a residential rooftop from an unmanned IDF drone. The video shows the supposed scene of the attack, and follows the Gaza family from the hospital to the burial, after a heroic attempt by doctors to revive the young child.
Only, when you look at the supposedly heroic effort, it lacks one thing: any sense that the two doctors are actually performing CPR with any effort at all.
Watch the video, it’s hilarious, the doctor must not wanted to hurt the dead kid so he didn’t compress his chest while doing CPR.
And then look at the “bomb” damage on the roof, anyone who has seen what a bomb does can spot this fake a mile away.
surely understood the gravity of the allegations before going to print, and I’m sure made every effort to nail it down.
yeah, ok

But I have to admit the 15 yard penalty that Florida got for excessive celebration was completely absurd. That is the single most ridiculous penalty that has ever been established in all of sports.

Hillbilly,
Apparently it is a copyright infringement because the Stones sued them and like I wrote earlier, I don’t think they have ever made one red cent from that song.
But oh, what a great song. It speaks to my soul.
Andy,
So? Referees are part of the game. They are irritating, sure, but necessary. Most good players know how to use them to their advantage.
Corporal,

Bosch: Football is a game of momentum. Oklahoma’s opening drive was cut short by one of the most obvious pass interferences that I have ever seen. Instead of the score being at least 3-0, if not 7-0, they wound up having to punt, setting the tone for the remainder of the game.
What are you talking about?
By Bosch
January 9, 2009 7:12 PM | Link to this
Andy,
I know a thing or two about games of momentum, believe me.

What an amazing year we had. The complete collapse of conservatism. It’s dead because nobody dares try to define it, or revive it.
Notice the media. Nothing but vanilla. Everybody is treading water, not committing right or left, but rather content to be amused by the transition; letting it happen like wounded lovers waiting for the next round of break up sex.
Obama will astonish us all on inauguration day, like the chinese opening ceremony last summer. Ah’d say (‘course I always like to clear all medical and legal matters with mah chief resident Corporal Surgeon Lawyuh whatevah) ole Secretary of State White just done got forced or as corporal da lawyuh would say the Supreme Court done has ordered him to sign Burris in.

Cheney: No One Saw Financial Crisis Coming
WTF?

Ha! Ha! Ha!

!993 unemployment rate was 7.3%, worse than it is today.
So why no shrieking back then about “unemployment?”

I have noted that these so-called fiscal conservatives in the GOP are like UFOs. MUCH supposed evidence, but not a scintilla of proof.
In fact, SETI would have a better chance of finding little green men than of anyone else ever finding one of these mysterious “conservatives”.
But, in an attempt to give a metaphorical reach around across the aisle, I’m willing to admit that there may just be one at last.
A RepubliNewbie who just might not be a member of the Steal & Spend UFO Party? Interesting.

Remember, the left claims to ♥ Israel-
The leaflets urged Gaza residents not to help Hamas, the Islamic militant group that rules Gaza, and to stay away from its members.
