Obama lays it on the line about economy

In a speech at George Mason University in Washington, President-elect Obama painted a stark picture of the crisis confronting the nation:

“We start 2009 in the midst of a crisis unlike any we have seen in our lifetime - a crisis that has only deepened over the last few weeks. Nearly two million jobs have now been lost, and on Friday we are likely to learn that we lost more jobs last year than at any time since World War II. Just in the past year, another 2.8 million Americans who want and need full-time work have had to settle for part-time jobs. Manufacturing has hit a twenty-eight year low. Many businesses cannot borrow or make payroll. Many families cannot pay their bills or their mortgage. Many workers are watching their life savings disappear. And many, many Americans are both anxious and uncertain of what the future will hold.

I don’t believe it’s too late to change course, but it will be if we don’t take dramatic action as soon as possible. If nothing is done, this recession could linger for years. The unemployment rate could reach double digits. Our economy could fall $1 trillion short of its full capacity, which translates into more than $12,000 in lost income for a family of four. We could lose a generation of potential and promise, as more young Americans are forced to forgo dreams of college or the chance to train for the jobs of the future. And our nation could lose the competitive edge that has served as a foundation for our strength and standing in the world….

It is time to set a new course for this economy, and that change must begin now. We should have an open and honest discussion about this recovery plan in the days ahead, but I urge Congress to move as quickly as possible on behalf of the American people. For every day we wait or point fingers or drag our feet, more Americans will lose their jobs. More families will lose their savings. More dreams will be deferred and denied. And our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse.”

That last sentence is the most chilling, and perhaps most important, in the speech. The stakes are that high. Full text here.

Obama is one man. His speech was eloquent, but it did not stem the reality of our situation.

His stimulous package is inflationary. After WW1, germany printed money and they experienced 2 thousand percent inflation per day for three years.

That’s how Hitler happened. That’s what is going to happen to us and there’s nothing to stop it now.

The truth bookman hasn’t the courage to write is that we’re finished, it’s all over but the finger pointing, the crowing of a new fuehrer, and the inquisition and slaughter of millions of innocents to keep us occupied so the new fuehrer can fool all the people all the time.

W did this. Cheney did this.

Much better than w but that bar is at ground level.

“WE ARRIVED AT THIS POINT DUE TO AN ERA OF PROFOUND IRRESPONSIBILITY”

Voluntarily asking the corrupt Congress and greedy Wall Street to change is very naive.

Only handing out life sentences will bring about that change or perhaps some Chinese accountability.

A lot of rhetoric filled with hot air.

You want jobs?

Do something about what’s sending them overseas:

  • Taxes. The tax code and accompanying interpretations now total over 60 thousand pages. And after BO gets through with it it will be even larger.

  • Over regulation. Why do business in America when you must buy a toilet with Al Gore’s picture stamped on it or if your plant construction must be halted if you disturb the migratory habits of the Alabama blue rat bird?

  • Threat of litigation. Lawyers and their democrat dog washers have added billions of dollars to the cost of everything we do.

  • Union wage scales. Off the charts. You can get the same labor overseas for a lot less. This includes the minimum wage whose only purpose is to jack up union contract raises.

  • Did you hear any of those addressed in Obama’s speech today?

    I didn’t think so.

    By WHAT'S YOUR SOLUTION

    January 8, 2009 12:54 PM | Link to this

For those of you that have so many negative things to say about the job that Mr. Obama is trying to do, what are you suggestions? What would you do to balance the budget. What are you doing for yourselves to get by? What are your little “tricks” that work for you and make your world and finances flow smoothly. I would love to hear how some of you are making it, and what would you differently if you were in his shoes!! For those of you that are expecting him to come in and clean up this mess immediately are slightly delusional!! It took us 8 years to get in this mess and it will take us a lifetime to get out. But I will await your responses….what do you suggest he does!! If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. The state that we are in right now does not just affect Republicans or democrats, blacks or white, its affecting us all. Spewing hate and I told you so is not a solution to the problem. Sitting around pointing fingers at the Bush Administration is not going to fix the problem, expecting Barack to clean this mess up overnight is just plain stupid, and doing nothing is going to make it worse, so again I ask you, what are your suggestions?

‘Priming the pump’ was around long before Keynes, and he never advocated deficit spending when the economy was strong, he said that’s when you tighten up and pay down the debt. And Midori, a large part of this goes back to Barney Frank and friends in the Clinton Administration. They started the push to put people in houses they couldn’t afford. It just blew up when the Comptroller set aside the predatory lending rules in 2005 and all the greedy bankers made those insane NINJA loans because they could get 2 1/2 points up front and sell the mortgage to Fannie. Somehow I don’t think buying 2nd term votes with $500 handouts is going to solve the problem.

Conveniently, for me, he mentioned a $12,000 loss of income. That’s something my husband endured for two years due to expense cuts — the two years that Obama was campaigning to become OUR!?! hope.

I truly hope that soon-to-be President Obama and his administration succeed, but quite frankly for anyone near 40 years old, we’ve seen this show before. The Carter years of double-digit unemployment and interest rates & inflation in the 15-20% range were the results of the very actions Obama is proposing (and, sadly, the current administration has been doing recently as well).

Interestingly, that environment (called “stagflation” for those too young to remember it) led to some of the most unsustainable, “greater-fool” theory “investing” (actually, rampant speculation) than at any time prior. At the point that the currency is being devalued at a rapid rate, the drive to exchange dollars for anything else exacerbates speculative market bubbles (and busts).

How long before Obama declares that the “solution” to our energy woes is “putting on a sweater”? Oh, that’s right - he’s already told us that we can do it by inflating our tires.

You are correct, Jay; the stakes are high. I simply hope that that I am wrong in my assessment that he doest not know how to play the game.

Of course before the companies came they were starving. After the companies came idiot Hollywood starlets started boycotting the items they made over labor issues and threatened to cause starvation again.

*Perhaps you and many uncaring others would care to exchange houses with ‘those people’ who now work for those relocated companies for a couple weeks? Sort of like that stupid TV program, “Wife swap.” *

Oh so now we’re “uncaring”. Pal, there is nothing more dishonest than a tyrant who claims to work for the betterment of mankind when all he really wants to do is control mankind.

What’s with the scare quotes around bad people. Did someone else use that term? Funny how you put words in my mouth. It’s you who uses that term, not me.

If you want to rely on social security for anything when you retire you are a whole lot dumber than everyone of the low income people I have taught saving and investing to over the years. I didn’t have to teach them that social security was a worthless promise - they already knew!

Of course not all of Obama’s plan will work. Not all of Roosevelt’s worked, but the country as a whole was much improved due to his actions.

IMHO, we’d better HOPE some of Obama’s plans work. Anyone with half a brain should know what doesn’t work. We’ve had 8 years of that bunk.

Oh, and who the heck ever heard of a ‘tax cut’ for someone who doesn’t submit a tax return? Again, LMAO!

Chicago Public Schools’ cappuccino bill: $67,000

‘A WASTE OF MONEY’ | Report says staffers skirted rules to buy 30 coffeemakers, changed athletes’ grades, falsified addresses.

    ART GOLAB Staff Reporter agolab@suntimes.com

Chicago public school bureaucrats skirted competitive bidding rules to buy 30 cappuccino/espresso machines for $67,000, with most of the machines going unused because the schools they were ordered for had not asked for them, according to a report by the CPS Office of Inspector General.

That was just one example of questionable CPS actions detailed in the inspector general’s 2008 annual report. Others included high school staffers changing grades to pump up transcripts of student athletes and workers at a restricted-enrollment grade school falsifying addresses to get relatives admitted.

In the case of the cappuccino machines, central office administrators split the order among 21 vocational schools to avoid competitive bidding required for purchases over $10,000. As a result CPS paid about $12,000 too much, according to Inspector General James Sullivan. “We were able to find the same machines cheaper online,” he said.

“We also look at it as a waste of money because the schools didn’t even know they were getting the equipment, schools didn’t know how to use the machines and weren’t prepared to implement them into the curriculum,” Sullivan said.

CPS spokesman Michael Vaughn said CPS plans to change its purchasing policy so that competitive bidding kicks in when a vendor accumulates $10,000 worth of orders, no matter how many schools are involved. One person was fired and disciplinary action is pending against three others, he said.

The grade-changing took place at an unidentified high school, where student athletes grades were boosted, then, after transcripts were issued for college admission offices, the grades were changed back. The culprits could not be identified because passwords allowing entry to the grading system were shared by a number of people, Sullivan said. A new record system has tighter security, he said.

At Carson Elementary, an overcrowded school in Gage Park where even neighborhood kids were restricted from enrolling, five lower- level employees got six relatives into the school by falsifying addresses. Sixty-nine students from outside the attendance area got in, but they didn’t even bother to lie about their addresses. CPS had to spend as much as $252,000 to bus kids who live in the neighborhood to other schools, Sullivan said.

Vaughn said the employees involved have resigned, been fired or will be fired.

Before I say what I am about to say, let me state that I am not a Republican, I am not a Democrat, I am an Independent. I do and have voted both ways, and sometimes refused to vote for either. Now…

If one studies why the theories of Karl Marx (communism/marxism) ultimately failed, it is because taking from those who are willing to work hard and produce, and giving it to those who are not willing to work hard KILLS INCENTIVE to work and produce. If there is no reward or incentive for working harder/longer/better, then eventually the people stop working. It is human nature.

I came from a poverty stricken background, but have done well. Since I am single with no dependents, I get slammed in every paycheck and take home about half of my gross income. If government keeps taking more and more away from me and others like me to give to someone who is not willing to work but still thinks he/she is “entitled” to the plasma TVs, nice cell phones, the nicer cars, the bigger houses, then sooner or later they WILL “kill the goose that laid the golden egg”. Then we will all go under together…and soon the lady on TV who announced that since Barack Obama was elected, she will not have to worry about her mortgage, or her car having gas will get a big dose of reality. When there are no longer those who are willing to buy her gas, and pay her bills, who will do it?

This is not a slam at Obama. So far most of his decisions have seemed to be “centrist”, but can he stand up to those in his party who advocate a modern day “Robin Hood, rob from the rich and give to the poor” taxation system?

My point is that if those of us who have been successful have to sacrifice, what about others? People seem to be good at suggesting how others should give up something, how others should sacrifice.

    Sunshine @ 1:40PM.

You comment that prior to companies relocating from the USA the people were starving. That is not my point. Of course a little is better than nothing.

My point was: Companies relocate to these countries so they can pay someone $1.50 per week. What happened to all the employees they canned when they sent the company abroad? Something absolutely must give in this department. And NO, they were not about to go broke if they didn’t relocate.

    I also can’t forget Enron, but I digress…

Greed and avarice are the two ingredients that will send folks to hell in a ‘little row boat.’

My reference to ‘bad people’ does not mean I think anyone is bad. We are all God’s children. Remember Sunday School, at least where I attended, we were taught, “Red, yellow, black and white, we’re all precious in his sight.” I’ve never been one who sees race, and I WAS NOT talking about race, but economic status.

No, I don’t believe anyone can change the world, but it’s my duty as a Christain to do what I can in my little corner.

mm, Obama has changed his definition of rich three times. First, it was those making over $250,000, then it was 200 and finally 150. Taking money from people who’ve EARNED it and giving it to deadbeats who don’t work IS SOCIALISM! These so-called evil rich people employ the majority of this country. There are reasons why people are rich and people are poor. IF you make good life choices then you will be better off financially. If you have 10 babies out of wedlock before high school graduation then you will be living off the government. Oh, good job, bash Rush. What Now

The disconnect that you highlight arises from the reality (never admitted) that proponents of marxist philosophy (or its derivatives) know that it is a failed model that kills incentive, hinders advancement, and serves to simply spread misery. They reality is that its proponents do not continue trying to implement because it will be beneficial to the governed. They continue trying to implement it because it acquires power for those governing.

The benefit (to the governing) is its creation of and support for a perpetual cycle of confiscation from earners / owners to fund transfer payments to their identified (and controlled) interest groups. In exchange for the theft and wealth transfer, they get votes and acquire more power.

It is truly an insidious model since, at its core, it falsely promises advancement, but must keep interest groups dependent (and controllable) to justify its continued existence.

It is unfortunate that so many are so quick to fall for a philosophical model that creates a bogus “equity-based” justification for what is basically government-enabled theft through redistribution. It is equally unfortunate they fall for the same model that creates a bogus label of “shame” to someone such as yourself who simply expects to keep that which you earn.

    It was for this basic reason that I (long ago) coined the phrases;

“Truth, History, and Common Sense refute Liberalism.”

Freedom and Opportunity work when you do.

Someone please explain to me how rescinding Bush’s tax cut for the rich is socialism. Okay, I will give you this point perhaps.

And he’s cutting taxes for anyone making under $200,000 (middle class) …at the end of the election his running mate Biden was saying “families making under $200,000”, he also eventually used the term $150, 000, and no mention of “singles making ???”.

or giving tax breaks to people that don’t pay taxes on this you are just plain wrong. Part of Obama’s pre-election proposal DID promise to send “tax rebate” checks to people who paid no taxes. Now, they are talking about an immediate stimulus that would lower the withholding taxes, implying that one would have to be “payiong taxes”, but that too can just as easily include those who pay very little withholding and get it back thru the “earned income credit”. Go check it out.

    mm, Here you go!

This all started in 1995 when the Clinton Administration relaxed the rules for minorities to buy homes. Clinton wanted to make it easier for them. The problem was, the Democrats made it too easy. No down payment, no credit checks, and no income verification - a sure fire receipt for international disaster. Trillions of dollars in mortgages were loaned out to people that had no chance to ever repay them.

The legislation was called the CRA (Community Reassessment Act). Following that, Fannie Mae relaxed its criteria for buying these mortgages from banks. The people involved with all of this were all Democrats: Rep. Barney Frank (D), Sen. Christopher Dodd (D), Jim Johnson CEO of Fannie Mae who left with a 26 million dollar golden parachute in 1999 (D), and Franklin Raines, African American CEO of Fannie Mae from 2000-2004 who left with a 96 million dollar golden parachute. They are the principal culprits along with Dodd’s pet organization, the nationally discredited ACORN.That’ s who caused this mess, not Bush and not the Republicans. This was a fiasco engineered by the Democrats for minority homebuyers who couldn’t qualify under normal conditions. And I fear these included illegal immigrants. After that, everybody got into the act.

Such terrible lending practices brought about the entire collapse of all these companies. Trillions of dollars of bad loans engineered by politics rather than good finance. These people should all be investigated for fraud. Oh yes, here’s the killer: Fannie Mae gave one million dollars to Chris Dodd’s campaign and one million dollars to Barack Obama’s campaign.Need I say more?

This crisis had nothing to do with Bush or the lack of Republican concern for regulations. In fact, the only US Senator who stood up in 2004 and said we needed to control Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac before their house of cards collapses was – JOHN McCAIN!!!! And he was ridiculed by Democrats.

Mm, If our next president does still intend to Cut (or lower) taxes for 95% then that would in a sense be similar to welfare. Look up the statistics I am pretty sure 95% of all working Americans do NOT pay taxes in. Therefor if that demographic receives a tax CUT then in turn it would mean the government gives them extra money, other than the wages they worked for.

However if our president elect does not intend to lower taxes for 95% then you are correct there will be no welfare.

mm, then show me why that is dumb.

I worked every year I was in college. I also worked ever since I graduated. Last year was the first year I did not get every dime I paid in back.

So see that is not paying taxes. If at that point in time I recieved any rebate it would have meant I was being paid (or given money) for work I did not do.

So show me smart one how does that mean I paid any taxes during my 4 1/2 years of college or the year after.

I considered it to be a savings account.

You do know how ignorant and much of a bigot you sound when you call everyone who does not agree with your ideology a wingnut right.

See how I never called you by anything other than your chosen name.

But that would require you to show decency and respect 2 things from reading your post you are incapable of.

If you cannot discuss things like an adult then it is pointless. Much like when my 2 year old throws a tantrum. I saw the speech. Inspiring in the sense that Obama is an excellent orator and conveys the strength of his convictions well. The message…not-so-much.

Twice I heard him say something to the effect “…only the government can get us out of this mess.” I don’t think I heard the word ‘free-market’ once. I heard him throw around alot of blame; wall street, housing bubble etc etc. Where was the part he blamed rampant consumerism? You know…personal responsibility? You didn’t hear that because then you might stop spending, and well, that would really screw up this whole scheme of bailing out the economy.

I don’t see how any of this will work.

As much as it grates on the nerves of democrats the war in Iraq has been won. And that’s according to the 20 benchmarks that the democrats said would never be accomplished there.

    According to Michael Yon:

“A fair-minded person could say with reasonable certainty that the war has ended. A new and better nation is growing legs. What’s left is messy politics that likely will be punctuated by low-level violence and the occasional spectacular attack. Yet, the will of the Iraqi people has changed, and the Iraqi military has dramatically improved, so those spectacular attacks are diminishing along with the regular violence.

Psst… I know some democrats and intellectuals have trouble reading the news but this story has been around.

A successful person is one who loves what he/she is doing and is good at it and supports the lifestyle that person desires.

The answers are not that complicated.

    1) Both people and governemnt have to stop spending more than they make,

    2) The government is only a distribution agency and cannot solve the problems of everyone.

    3) People have to become accountable for their own actions and decisions and not expect the government to always save them from themselves (i.e. those who KNOWINGLY bought more house than they could afford, with ARMs, used their “phantom equity” to get a second mortgage to buy more “stuff”, and assuming inflation would bail them out).

Notice that not once did I say liberal, conservative, Democrat, and Republican. This is an American problem. We have to start being accountable and paying the consequences for our decisions…all of us. As I have attempted to imply, we have to quit expecting something for nothing.

Easy. We call upon the Federal Tooth Fairy. See, if we cut taxes by $200 billion and tax revenues increase by $16 billion per year, we can say, “See, revenues increased by $16 billion.” We sorta forget about the $200 billion we borrowed, plus interest, to make this increase possible.

If you can understand this explanation, then you have the makings of a fine Republican. Otherwise, you might have to follow the lead of Lord Byron when he wrote about Robert Southey: “Explaining metaphics to the nation—/I wish he would explain his explanation!”

    @ Bosch

And how can we pay for things like bombs and cool guns when everyone is screaming for lower taxes?

A valid point. My question back to you would be essentially a similar question, who IS going to pay for them. Do you add more to the middle and upper class, do you raise corporate taxes, do you expect EVERYONE to contribute? I’m not advocating more tax cuts for the rich, I am saying that a whole bunch of the so called “well to do” should not have to always pay the bills for people who pay little or nothing, produce little or nothing, and expect more than a “subsistance”, they expect a comparable “standard of living”.

Regarding corporate taxes, who is Exxon, who is Microsoft, who is Archer Daniels Midland? My point is that you seldom really tax a corporation, you tax the consumers of that corporation’s products because taxes are just passed through to the consumer. You tax the people who hold mutual funds in their 401K’s because they are Exxon, Microsoft, and Archer Daniels Midland. They, you and I even, are Exxon.

Everyone wants someone else to do all of the giving, everyone always seem to think that the “evil rich” are the only culprits. Let me give you an example to think about for a moment. Would it be fair to say that there would be no mortgage crisis if everyone had paid their mortgage? Think about it. Not all, maybe not most people in default are in default because of job losses, those are a recent development of the recession. Most of the mortgage crisis was brought about by people buying houses they could not afford, with the hope that someday they could sell them to a bigger fool than they were at a higher price before the balloon burst. They did not make it, and the balloon did burst. Now they think the government is at fault, or predatory lenders are the cause. They made the decision themselves.

Now before you say it, I agree that the war in Iraq was probably incredibly stupid. I was an Army officer during and after Vietnam and I studied wars of insurgency and military history in the Army and advanced ROTC. Obviously no one in Washington did, because an outsider can seldom win a war of insurgency in the end without either 1) scorched earth (not practical), or 2)totally breeding with the conquered area and integrating their culture into yours (takes generations). I was lukewarm even when the spectre of WMD was an issue, and against it when it became obvious they never existed to any real dangerous degree.

Just saying that all should contribute, not everyone thinking everyone else has to do the sacrificing.

They said the new battle is with the budget. The cut’n’runners cried but they could not continue their protest for terrorism. They also cried because they could not place BLAME any more. Obamaton was top ‘ton now and what he said was galactic game law.

Preview for next week: Obamaton cuts the hand-out dressing for the Crouton’s salad and there is revolt.

If there’s victory in Iraq, does that mean that there was a winner? Who won. By the way, I heard that Iraq made $60 billion dollars from oil in 2008 and that was in addition to the 100s of billions that we have spent over there. Isn’t that cool. We should treat people in other countries that nice also. Let’s see, which other countries have millions of people that need to be bombed and then rescued from us. I know. I know you left nuts can’t stand the idea of capitalism taking hold in Iraq but, believe me, they like it.

My guess is that a few months after BO takes office his handlers will advise him to declare victory.

Too late. Bush already handed that plum to him. Bush finished the job.

We’ll have an ally in Iraq like we do in Japan and Germany and we’ll both make a lot of money in international trade - raising the standard of living over there to modern western levels.

All of this is only going to happen if BO doesn’t muck it up. A very real possibility given his lack of anything remotely like experience in world affairs.

Also, he is a showman much like Bill Clinton. He’ll want to start legacy building from day 1. Putting his wet finger in the wind to see which way the political breeze is blowing before he acts.

    Dusty,

I don’t think our soldiers dying in vain is remotely humorous. I wish you’d see that.

What makes me sick is our incompetent President who basically used the military for monetary gain. You see, I’ve always thought of Bush, an oil man, invaded Iraq not because he was worried Saddam Hussein was going to somehow attack us with phantom, non-existent weapons that never existed, but instead, he used our military to secure Iraqi oil reserves, so that after he finished as President he would go back in the oil business, and then well, you can see where I’m going with this.

It really makes me sick to think that, and Bush makes me sick every time I see his face or hear his voice.

I’m so sorry I make you sick, maybe some Pepto Bismol will help. I like Pepto Bismol - I used to fake sick when I was a kid to get some. Is that weird?

And another industry in Griffin closes and goes to Brazil. Wonder why there are no jobs? They’ve all been sent overseas. If I was in charge (and everyone is lucky I’m not) not a dime would be given to the car companies as long as they run factories outside the US and close factories in the US. Let the countries where they are building the cars fund them!!

Obama is one man. His speech was eloquent, but it did not stem the reality of our situation.

His stimulous package is inflationary. After WW1, germany printed money and they experienced 2 thousand percent inflation per day for three years.

That’s how Hitler happened. That’s what is going to happen to us and there’s nothing to stop it now.**

Huh? That’s are real leap into the cesspool of illogic. Obviously, you are not a good student of history. The condition that caused Germany’s economic collapse was the war reparation it was forced to pay after WWI. The conditions today are more like the 1930s when the banking system failed. Also, our money is not backed by gold as was the case after WWI. The government can print more money without devaluing the money supply. That’s no the case with gold backed money as each new dollar devalues all the other dollars in circulation which is very inflationary.

PE Obama’s stimulus package is not going to endanger the government. If you want to blame anyone, blame Bush and the Rethuglicons that cut taxes, stated a reckless and unnecessary war, and spent like a bunch of drunken sailors. As PE Obams said, he is inheriting a deficit of $1.2 TRILLION dollars. When Bush took office, he inherited a budgetary surplus. Bush and the Rethuglicons’ poor fiscal policies (cut taxes and spend $100s of BILLIONS on a reckless and unnecessary war). Of course, Bush and Cheney (who funneled taxpayer money to his buddies in larger no-bid contracts) will escape any responsibility for their role in all this mess. As will the Rethuglicons who lied just to get elected. Now I and millions of others who didn’t vote for these clowns will suffer the consequences. Thanks to Rethuglicon bootlickers like you, Serendipitous Stupid.

When you vote Rethuglicon, you vote against your own best interests. And Serendipitous Stipend is living proof.

So .. .when Obama says “tax cut,” he really means “welfare check.” A government handout. Your money seized from you and given to someone who didn’t earn it … or your children and grandchildren hit with a debt they’ll have to repay later.

This is the new definition of a tax cut. And we have Barack Obama to thank for it, not to mention a compliant media … a media that refuses to expose this government-speak.

Winning in Iraq must have included the development that while Iran continued to create instability in the Middle East by smuggling missles to Gaza through multiple Egyptian tunnels suicide bombers were used during the last few days to blow over 100 people to bits in Iraq.

These were a group of tribal sheikhs in Yusufiya, who were working on reconciliation between Shiites, Sunnis and Kurds, and, second, mostly women and children gathered at a Shiite shrine.

I’m not sure whether the US Army Band “Pershing’s Own” has been dispatched to Bagdad yet to play “Glory Glory to ‘Ol Georgia” to celebrate the suicide bomber explosions this week or not.

Perhaps Coach Richt could be featured during the Inauguration narrating the Florida 49-Goergia 10 game fils as a metaphor for “victory in Iraq.”

Then you are no better than a dog. A female dog will die for all of her puppies but, in every other part of her life, she only survives.

Which probably describes you. You have nothing more to your life than your immediate family and friends.

You have no idea what it is like to be willing to lay down your life for your buddies, your commander, your president, your country, your way of life.

I pity someone like you. You are not much more than a dog. I hope your puppies take good care of you in your old age. You don’t deserve the respect of anyone else.

So if suicide bombers attacked this country you would assume we are at war.

Well let me clue you in. It happened.

And we declared war on terrorism. Do you know what terrorism is? It is fanatical people who hide behind women and children and blow their own sons and daughters up to kill innocent people.

So whenever that happens in the world, according to you, that means war.

I thought all of you left nuts were anti war.

If you think the the Big O can prevent suicide bombers from blowing themselves up you must be a candidate for buying the Brooklyn Bridge.

    Sheesh!

Look a $500 tax break for singles, and $1,000 for couples isn’t going to do ANYTHING to help our economy. This sounds just like the measly $300 break I got from Bush, and what did that do? Nothing! I’m all for a tax holiday. No Federal Tax with-held for the next 3 to 6 months, now that can help the economy.

Unfortunately the “new course” is at the expense of those of earn a living, live within their means, are educated, responsible, and actually raise children in a two parent household!!!!!

Get ready for redistribution of wealth, new definitions of tax cut and middle class, more generational dependency on the government for care and feeding, and PC as we’ve never seen it!!!!
